Sometimes I wonder how much of the game's issues are due to creative differences or disagreements between IS and KT. Like, we know RoTK is the only thing KT is ever capable of writing (that's why they rewrote it 20 times!!), and that current IS loves their avatar worship, lonely waifus and uwu sobfests, but also that imperialism and genocide justification is NOT something they would do. Also, Nopes not getting any DLC while Engage gets a manga, a 900 page guide, Switch profile icons, etc.

Uh...

Sad uwus and "I was lonely once" + copious amounts of brainwashing was, iirc, the crux of Feh's last book which led to Book 1 Vero being retconned to oblivion and Embla's sad backstory being as ridiculous as you'd expect (her death line being iirc don't forget me sad uwu) somehow paving the way for a cute duo alt, despite the brainwashing, manipulating, killing and all kinds of funsies she did during said book.

At this point I'm sure, unless the new boring summer TT retcons her, Eitri won't have an alt bcs she wasn't designed with an "uwu sad'n'lonely once" backstory and ditto for Hel (Feh had to bring out Ganglot, aka axe fodder but who looks younger and has larger jelly melons to saddle with the "sad'n'lonely" backstory, too bad this character will only be remembered for her fodder).

So IS they can still have the "imperialism /war + killing for funsies" bad if the female characters aren't marketable, thus aren't "Sad'n'lonely", but if they are ? Look at Veronica, whatever she did is basically Flamey during part 1, no one gives a fuck anymore, and everything is well that ends well around a cup of tea.

I still think there were/are creative dissonances between IS and KT and the lack of Fodlan merc, when, as you pointed out, Engage has a manga !, is weird, but I think IS wants to drop any engagement (lel) with this verse, especially since Nopes received those extremely harsh reviews on their home market !! - and Nopes is more of a KT child than an IS product.

I'm sad because it ultimately means IS won't release mangas about Fodlan or even guides in the near future (rip war of heroes), but even if Feh tries to "correct" the aim and messages of the game, I'm pretty sure Fodlan will be an odd duck in maybe 5 years, like it will be acknowledged as Fe16, but IS will move on (or already has). Ike is still a fan favorite and has nods everywhere, Billy ? I don't think they will be on Ike's popularity or still popular in 5 years, ditto for Supreme Leader (popular as in non discourse related discussions and popular amongst the people who aren't her very devoted fans).

A Strategic Guide To CYL Voting Guide For Sapphics

As we prepare for The Chose Your Legends Voting Era I wanted to share my thoughts on how I am going to vote in the event and how I think we could combine our powers to have a sapphic character once again win Chose Your Legends. Sapphics Winning CYL isn't new with Lyn being a winner in the first round and being the first FF paired ending in the series with Florina that counts for something and obviously later we got the queen of Sapphic's Hearts Edelgard with the most votes of any CYL ever. However, CYL voting stocks are majorly majorly down which means a hand fool of queer women can turn the tides if we're banned together.

Dorothea and Monica are the most textual, most canon queers still on the table with a shot to win. While others on this list have strong subtext, strong paired supports, strong endings, Monica and Dorothea are both unavoidably queer and unlike Heather who now is finally in the game have a shot at winning this CYL. Dorothea fell 7 places last year in CYL7 going into 22nd place but with 4,529 votes as an already entrenched voting base having our bisexual icon come up on top is not unviable. Monica ended up in 63rd place but got that rising star award giving her even more momentum for all we know that gives them like a buff in voting a gimmick or something next year. I personally love the idea of Monica and Dorothea both winning in 1st and 2nd ready to follow Edelgard into Brave Hero territory

16,941 votes is ultimately our goal to beat assuming Engage doesn't raise votes [and it isn't that popular, sold worse then the last 3 proper games, and of those people who bought it a lot of impressions were negative]. I do think Engage is likely to have a bit of a buff and Yunaka and Ivy both have a strong chance at a strong showing in CYL but I don't think Engage will fundamentally be the trick to revitalize CYL voting in all honesty we'll either get less votes or new innovations on botting. All that is to say we would need 2421 people to commit all 7 votes to hit past Gulvegs first place win. 2053 to get past Corrin's voting threshold in second place.

However, voting to win isn't the only way to vote in CYL. The highest voted characters will end up in the game the next year, not sure fire but very often they grab some of the most popular characters left from any given game and then place them on a new hero banner. However, those all important slots are getting smaller and smaller as banners now have the option of releasing 5 different types of units that can go inside of a banner. New OCs, Rearmed Hero, Attuned Hero, Ascended Hero, and any of these variants but an OC from FEH who already exists. Often these come with the other units being auto demotes but demotes are ridiculously rare and suck so increasingly praying for a favorite to be in an NHB is coming a less smart thing. I do think just preforming well with a favorite who is popular maybe is better in terms of getting one of those alts for them. Although OCs do seem to be mostly going in order so unlikely voting for like Eir will give Eir yet another alt or something inside of a NHB.

That said, I think it's still a valid way to go I want a standard version of Heather and while this year I am going to pivot my vote I do think I could return to Heather voting in the future and maybe even this year Heather could see a boost from just more people being aware of her. If I saw enough Heather love I would pivot to trying to get Brave Heather.

Who are you voting for? Why? Will you join the Monica or Dorothea army? Personally, I think putting my money on the Monica train sounds good especially since Dorothea still doesn't actually have a base alt which means her CYL winner is likely to be a boring just normal Dorothea as they have done with Three Houses characters in the past.

Eh if its ok to say so, Emmeryn was never an obscure Fire Emblem character, honestly I feel none of the playable Awakening characters are close to obscure.

If you want an obscure Fire Emblem character, I'd say the real obscure ones are from the SNES games, especially if they're axe users and to a lesser extent, Armored Knights. Also characters from TearRing Saga.

Female units tend to get priority in FEH, same for Awakening characters.

I'm someone who has played the SNES games & Berwick Saga - obviously, as much as I love Faye/Arthur I can't can't namedrop them in any fire emblem discussion and expect people to know i'm not taking about a "fire emblem" character.

The way I see it, it's worth bearing in mind that Awakening is 12 years old this year, the fire emblem community went through another huge expansion/revolution when Three Houses released 5 years ago, and for all intents and purposes this blog is about an NPC. Yes, she is a "new era" character, but she hardly has any discussion around her & it is rare to find any fanart of her (nor was there much when Awakening released). She's definitely not in the trenches of obscure, but I think she's like characters of the SNES and Kaga-Saga era where if you like her, that is iconic/unique enough to be your brand.

M!Corrin-wise -  I dont think Omega Yato will be his weapon, because the refined version of his OG version (normal M!Corrin in the red pool) already has it. While his art has his normal weapon, his sprite has Omega Yato.

Dawn Yato is definitely a possibility tho! although it would be very odd to give it to him and not make its Twin/Mirror Weapon Dusk Yato to CQ!themed!L!F!Corrin.(but hey its IS)

(something i am so salty off bc i love Dawn and Dusk Yatos ;-; they are so pretty and match so well their promotions... and games... heck!! they both have their route-represent Legendary weapons features incorpored on them and just *clenches fist at the emotional moments*)

Also, A re-colored dragon alt is also a possibility, since L!F!Corn did that.

I dont think skipping the Staff is a certainty because IS has made weird choices before. Leif has an Bow which is a weird choice for him, but, like Corrin, he has a A Rank in bows in his promoted class, and like Corrin he is an “unpopular” Lord. Chrom and Lucina have Bows, when they also had Lances as options by promotion class.

I dont think popularity certainly incentivizes diversity in weapon usage. because we have had a lot of Weird choices from IS of making a popular character have the same weapon across multiple alts. -> 3H lords, Ike, Eirika and Ephraim had all a repeat of their OG weapons and are far more or just as popular as Micaiah; and even weirder L!F!Corrin, who by CYL and Nintendo magazine poll is more popular then M!Corrin,  has the same weapon type than her fallen version (and still lacks a red alt for her emblem AND had an iconic red weapon associated with her promotion of DarkBlood/Nohr Noble (Dusk Yato)). Also fun fact, F!Corrin counterpart to M!Corrin Staff Rank is a Tome Rank. So it would also be possible for her to have had an red tome alt.

conclusion regarding weapons: IS pretty much spins a Wheel and decides what to do. I think its pretty much a case of...whatever the executives woke up on that day wanting.

(that, of course, doesnt make theorizing what weapon they will have  any less fun xD)

Honestly the only reason why I am certain it is Micaiah is irrational/a F2P technique. In  that if it is not her, it will destroy my will to summon and thus allow me to spend less XD. I have seen people doing it and boy does it works wonders when you arent right.

Going by that (my theory it is Micaiah) I find it unlikely to be Colorless (and thus Staff or colorless tome) only because the other spreads are just That Good^tm.

One of the methods that people used to guess which color the new Leg/Mythic will be is to see which color has a busted spread of colors. And it has been right ever since Edelgard

(The reason for so is that IS seems to have realized that by debutting the hero on a so-so spread, it made people wait for their rerun in order to get them, Bramimond being an example in that his spread was awful (L!Grima) and his rerun spread was godsmacking good (Mila)... pun not intended)

The colorless this time is rather...i wouldnt say weak, because Eir usability is REALLy good and Duma has a nice niche of wrecking people plans(cackles in my AR matches). However, they are fairly outdated in comparation with the other color spreads. So, in the event this leg hero is Micaiah (or Elincia, or Byleth) i dont think they would be colorless because of that.

Oh! Regarding the CYL theory, since the legendaries were introduced in the second year of FEH, I dont consider much broken, since i merely think its always /A/ winner instead of the 1st of each year. Since shuffling of legendaries is possible, (those times when IS changed the calendar lineup), should the Byleths win CYL(which is fairly likely). it would be easy to put them on the next GW. And I also think it will be a theory that will be broken absolutely next year, since I doubt Marianne and Gatekeeper would be viable L!Heroes. I agree with you that is a weak pattern that is likely to be broken.

Counterpoint to Wind F!Byleth ->  Blessings not always end up being the element that is most associated with the Character in the main game. Highly Water themed (and midly Fire themed;) Corrin ended up as Wind; Julia, who has Minor blood of fire and was called “Genealogy’s Fire Emblem sword” was Earth; Eliwood, wielding the fire themed Durandal, was Wind. (tbf this is also a counterpoint to Wind Micaiah, since she has more association with Light and maybe Fire(?) than Wind)

Regarding 3H launching with 3H, besides Edelgard, Claude also debuted with no 3H legendary accompanying him. Annete was there, but other than that, no other 3H unit or legendary was on the banner. In fact, the pattern i do see with 3H legendaries is that their first re-run matches with a release of a Mythic in their color spread. (Edelgard -> Hel ; Dimitri -> Seiros).

I want to highlight that i am not saying it wont happen, but that I lean more towards they keeping a space between 3H legendaries release, in order to long term profits, and to not cause burn-out of 3H content. (or at least decrease people complaining about it; They seem to have learned their lesson with the Fates and Tellius spams.)

Finally,I do think that it is possible for Micaiah to be a Staff and for other characters to be released in this month/banner, mostly it is the premises i chose to apply to this theorizing lead me in a contrary direction xD. You show some good points! (I would love a Dawn Yato Corn and a Staff Micaiah ;-;...)

Extra Tangent: I have absolutely no idea what IS(executives) considers the character is associated with Silver Snow like...

For one side, Seteth makes lip service saying the route lord is Rhea; Rhea presents the choice mirror to Edelgard’s in the route split; the ending cutscene focuses on Rhea character development/closure, but, at the same time, she is Sir Not Appearing for 75% of the route and the rest of the time she is benched.

For another side, Byleth was made to be the lord to Edelgard emperor’s and her rival; has several cutscenes showcasing that; is the “lord” of the route in role sense, but, on the other hand, its more associated with Fire (fire emblem).

Honestly at this point i just dont know what FEH is going to do with them. I think IS is going to make one of Byleth Wind as you said and the other Fire, but which one, i have no idea. I could see too an argument for Ground(since i think at the lack of an Light element for Light element character-focused they pick ground sometimes) too, but yeah. 

I cant believe the true plot twist of GW is gonna be Rhea being the wind legendary breaking all of our theories xD (/j, but can you imagine how funny it would be?)

I cleaned up a swap au writing from... geez, two and a half years ago. I tried to make it a bit more accurate to the one we’re writing now. Zim is about 12/13 here.

Zim didn't like the new kid. 

Which wasn't surprising; Zim didn't like a lot of people. He could probably count even loose friends on one hand. (The one with the scar on the back- the other one had a finger missing from an accident when he was seven.)

However, he didn't like the new kid for a different reason than he didn't like most people.

Most people, they refused to pay attention to his greatness, mocking him as weird and a loner and 'had set them on fire'. Feh. Ridiculous stuff. 

Dib, however? 

He wouldn't leave Zim alone. 

Normally, Zim would bask in the attention, but Dib never gave him a break. He followed him from a distance after skool, he pestered him with constant questions during recess, and he'd actually stolen one of Zim's inventions!

Granted, the invention was a laser pistol and Dib got into trouble for having it about two minutes later, which was undeniably funny, but the point still stood. 

Despite all this, Dib still treated him like he was... a pet or something. He'd click his tongue when Zim snarled and would wave off any prying questions. It was like the guy had dropped out of outer space, with his house that had sprung up overnight and his creepy sister that never looked up from her... game? Phone? Whatever it was, Zim wanted to get his hands on it- it looked really advanced. (Dib had something similar, but he was always writing in it with a stylus thing that looked both ten years old and from the future. It was bulky and weird.) 

"Hey, Zim? How are you today?" Dib whistled lightly, hands in his pocket and a grin on his face. (Man, his teeth were weird. And Zim thought his cousin Pur needed braces.)

"I'm fine, stink-brain." Zim turned back to rummaging through his backpack. 

"Why do you keep calling me that? I don't smell bad."

"It's an insult." Zim rolled his eyes. "Are you going to help me today?"

"With what?"

"Robot hamster." Zim pulled out the little wriggling rodent. "It'll make Mr. Spork flip when it grows to three feet tall. It's going to try and eat his desk."

"That seems like it would be disruptive."

"That's the point. He's afraid of hamsters, you know." The hamster wriggled around and squeaked, probably because Zim was squeezing it kind of hard.

"Well, it seems useless to use your technical prowess for silly pranks."

"Pfft, says you." Zim stood up, brushing off his pants and slinging his pack over his back. 

When he looked back when reaching the door, Dib had something metal poking out of his backpack, but when Zim blinked, Dib was just writing in his PDA.

Dib had left his PDA on his desk. 

Dib never let that thing out of his sight. It was as much a part of Zim's image of him as his stupid backpack and his even stupider hair. 

So Zim stole it. 

What else was he supposed to do, give it back? Maybe it had information on why Dib was stalking him- or maybe it was a diary and held blackmail-worthy material. 

It had a firewall, but it wasn't Zim-proof, and within half an hour, he was in. 

The home screen looked weirdly similar to a regular desktop, except there were weird symbols under the file icons. Foreign letters maybe? Only two were in English- 'Language notes' and 'Study Notes'. 

Language notes first, but Zim discarded it almost immediately- it was just some kind of dictionary. Boring. 

So, Study Notes it was. Zim scrolled through a few pages of the same weird language as on the home screen before it switched to English. 

Day 20. Today Gaz said she had fun chasing a human around for his game device. I still don't get why she finds human games so fascinating- they're not as good as the Arcade on Flagtrep-7, and she knows it. Well, they distract her. Would that be treason, liking that an Invader isn't doing her job? Eh. My Tallest says we can take as long as we like, since this place is newly discovered. 

What the hell...? Was Dib some kind of author, writing in a diary like he was an alien or something?

That, or he actually was an alien. Pfft, it would explain a lot.

Day 21. Zim continues to be fascinating. For a member of a species so inferior, he surprises me.

Zim's hands tightened around the device as he read on. 

He seems almost irken, due to his lack of parental units and love for destruction. He doesn't appear to like my study of him, but I can't help it- of all the specimens here, he's my favorite. He cares for his cyborg pet, but can't stand most of our classmates. A psychological marvel, intense and angry but with a capacity for boundless enthusiasm. I feel if any human would understand our work, it's him. 

Of course, I cannot tell him. Law dictates I'd have to dispose of him then, and he's much more interesting alive. 

I wonder if he'd be different from the others I've dissected. He's started mixing chemicals to change his body composition- it's less efficient than a Pak distribution system, but I look forward to seeing if they do anything interesting. I'll have to get samples to compare.

There were more entries, but Zim just thumbed past them, only catching occasional words. Dib seemed to like 'inferior' and 'useful' a lot. 

Either he was totally nuts (possible) or this was real, he was an alien, and the only thing stopping Dib from taking him apart was a creepy fascination. 

Zim had always wanted an admirer, someone to praise him for being so good at what he did. (Well, one besides Skoodge, anyways.) Dib had come close before, but he had no boundaries at all- Zim had spotted him trying to watch him go to the bathroom once. This? It knotted up his stomach.

He tried to imagine Dib with big bug eyes, hands deep inside a corpse, and it came a little too easily-

"There it is!" Dib's voice shook Zim out of his thoughts. "I've been looking all over for it. You didn't look, did you?" His voice had a tinny undertone, both of fear and anger.

"Who needs fifteen passwords? I couldn't get in." Zim said, and Dib snatched it back

"You sure?"

"Yes, yes, I'm sure," Zim said, even as he scanned Dib up and down. He looked the same as ever- but then, Zim had never really looked. His skin was slightly off, but everyone in their town had some kind of mutation, so he'd simply brushed it off at the time as being born too close to the City Cesspool. He mostly looked normal, but there was a slight shimmer near one of his ears. Zim reached for it, but Dib slapped him away before he even got close.

"What was that for?"

"I saw a big hornet about to sting you."

"Where?" Dib's vision darted around, swatting at the air, and Zim took the chance to slip away.

He needed to find out what was really going on. If Dib was just weird, then he was just weird, Zim already knew that. But if he was an alien? Well, that was another can of worms entirely, one Zim fully intended to dig into with both hands.

He couldn't skip last period for the next few weeks or the tracker under his ribs would start electoshocking him again, but at 3:15, he was going to find out the truth, one way or another.

i’m looking at my list of muses ( as i cry bc i realize i have to remake a lot of icons ) and figured i’d just jot this down really quickly before i go to bed... or at least try to because i really should but i want... the ashen wolves dlc... to download... so i was wasting time waiting for it and it’s still not here...

as far as feh goes, i hc seasonal alts to only be outfit swaps for a festival or ball or beach trips or what have you. legendary/mythic/brave alts are the same way because the idea of brave versions of a character being ‘created’ by the hopes and dreams of the people sounds... dumb to me. if a pre-existing character like, say, lucina is given the title of brave or legendary, it is simply new power bestowed upon the character. 

the only time there will be multiples of a character in the order of heroes is if they are from significantly different points in time (ie; inigo vs laslow, owain vs odin, the robins vs the grimas, hector vs hector+lilina duo hero), explicitly stated to be from another world with vastly different circumstances (brave camilla who is queen of nohr or brave veronica who was explicitly stated to be Not Our Veronica, og!azura and shigure vs performing arts!azura and shigure, who are heavily implied to be from conquest specifically).

the askr trio alts are simply alfonse, sharena, and now anna dressing up. i do not hc that bruno stayed with the order in a bunny suit; he left after the festival but will come again when the spring banners return for veronica’s sake.

obviously if there are two of any given character in zenith, they can dress up for festivals too if they want.

so here’s my take on every character with an alt in feh so far, whoops-- my muses are bolded! this is relevant to coralin’s order of heroes so i figure i might as well get it out of the way.

alfonse -- regular alfonse, spring alfonse, and new year’s alfonse are the same character. (lif is also alfonse, but obviously from a different time and world and so different that he barely counts anymore. if you want to split hairs, though, there are two alfonses.)

alm -- he’s actually kind of tricky. original alm might be his own version as he’s implied to be from earlygame while brave, legendary, and valentine’s alm are the same unit. this one is up to interpretation, but given og!alm has falchion for now i’m saying there is only one alm in zenith. there may be two. 

anna -- regular anna and new year’s anna are the same character.

azura -- original, legendary, and new year’s azura are the same character. performing arts azura is conquest azura specifically, then young azura is obviously young azura. there are three azuras in zenith.

 berkut -- dancer and original berkut are the same character. fallen berkut (+vestal rinea!) are a separate character. there are two berkuts in zenith, and two rineas by extension.

the black knight and zelgius are separate characters if only because they’re stated to be the por and rd incarnations of each, and there is a timeskip between the two games. no one is confused by the black knight any more, though. there are two zelgius...es... in zenith.

bruno is the story bruno. he showed up for the festival and left when it or the tempest concluded, whichever came first. he is not in coralin’s order of heroes.

caeda and bride caeda are the same character.

original camilla, spring camilla, summer camilla, new year’s camilla, and hot spring camilla are the same character. brave camilla and dream camilla are both separate incarnations, the latter being baby azura’s dreams given form. there are three camillas in zenith.

camus and sirius are two separate characters as they are from two different points in time. there are two camus...es... and if we get zeke there will be a third.

so what // p!nk - honestly a banger... but also p!nk was my second ever concert and i remember just coming alive during so what and just being in awe of her talent and the song slaps

sign of the times // harry styles - do i honestly have to say more?? the song is an experience and the beginning of a new era, for both harry and me. i was sort of lost and just not feeling like putting in the effort of doing anything, and then sign of the times was released and it helped me realise that if i had given up i wouldn’t have heard such a beautiful song and met so many wonderful people who are now some of my best friends

yours sincerely, i believed // forever ends here - so like they aren’t a thing anymore and i don’t listen to it so much anymore but feh was a huge part of my life from 2014-2018 and ysib was just...... possibly my favourite song of theirs ever and it just held a message that was so important for me and feels a bit like a track of my life

keys // with confidence - so i cried the first time i heard this song live, like actually sobbing into my friend’s shoulder. i was gonna enter the pit but i started crying so i didn’t just because it’s such a raw and emotional song and you can feel the pain in ini’s voice and in his life and it brought up just bad memories and bad thoughts and bad “what if’s” but it’s so beautiful and still provokes emotion to this day

caeda for the character meme please!

What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Love Caeda. I think that FE kinda knocked it outta the park the first time around with this little princess who’s so brave that she a) saves a gladiator and b) when her kingdom gets attacked she helps her future boyfriend liberate it and c) goes around recruiting people. She, like Ethlyn, is an amazing warrior princess who handles both the warrior part and the princess part as easily (or more easily) than the guys do and she’s still cute and sweet and kind and can cook with none of this “lol she burned the salad” kinda crap.

Is he/she important to the general plot? Well…not to the point she has plot armor, sadly. It’s a relic of the genuine “anyone can die” nature of Marth’s games that only Marth and the NPCs have full plot relevance.

Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally? Oh yeah, I love Caeda. Maybe I related more to her ten years ago when I was younger but I had a lot of headcanons about Caeda’s life as the first princess of a newly forged backwater kingdom and how that shaped her view on both her subjects and the interesting exiled prince.

Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic). She’s perfect with Marth but (egged on by LJ-era friends) I used to have some Ideas about how, should Marth kick the bucket significantly before her, she might finally reach an interesting understanding with Ogma (x-ref Tana/Cormag in its ambiguities).

Is there anything about the character you would change? Wing Spear in FEH. She wuz robbed.

If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Caeda comes across as someone who makes a little bit of time to check in with everyone so I can’t imagine not liking her. She’s a little dynamo.

Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites? Yes.

Is this character popular with the fanbase? She’s never enjoyed the popularity worldwide that she deserves as one-half FE’s iconic founding couple (just as Marth’s popularity from Smash was… skewed from any roots in FE canon) but I think Warriors and Heroes have given her more fans, which is great. She deserves all the fans. She’ll always deserve to be more popular than she is!
