Top 5 places in England!
Initially I thought this would be difficult, then my brain kept supplying places 🤣
1. Birmingham - I do love the city where I live (although I don't actually live in Brum, but it's the nearest big town). Pre Peaky Blinders, Brum had a terrible reputation. It was viewed as dirty, ugly and weirdly stupid (mainly due to the accent).
Brum has always been way more than that. It's a huge melting pot of cultures, has developed it's own curry dish - the Balti (authentic ones from Sparkhill are allegedly the best), has an incredible history as City of a Thousand Trades and has never been afraid to try new things.
And we have more canals than Venice!
It has the third largest St Patrick's Day parade (after Dublin and New York), and a MASSIVE Pride celebration.
Plus Birmingham is responsible for heavy metal. There is no way it could have existed anywhere else. Listening to Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Napalm Death etc whilst walking round town gives you the perfect soundtrack. Plus I also find it hilarious that none of the above have lost their Brummie accent, despite living elsewhere for decades.
2. Canterbury - I spent 3 very happy years in Canterbury for uni. When I first visited, as we drove into the city, I thought "I'm home". It's the smallest city in England and when I was there, it only had 1 nightclub. It does have over 80 pubs tho. It's a very odd place, the cathedral dominates the landscape and it has a lot of really weird shops and eateries. I will always love it because of uni, even though it has changed so much in the years since.
3. Whitby - I have only been to Whitby for the goth weekend, but I utterly love it. The food is incredible, whilst heavily fish oriented, there's the fab Pig in a Bun shop, and there was an excellent (if bizarre) World War II themed tapas bar. Justin's Chocolate shop is a must visit. Their slabs of chocolate are incredible. Whitby has very few chain stores, so it's all odd little shops and exciting things to find which adds to the charm.
Goth Weekend gets very busy with the doilies and tourists who come to stare at the goths (who are usually hiding in a pub), but when they sod off, we have the best time!
4. Cornwall - there's something magical about Cornwall. It's part of England but also Celtic, has it's own language and some of the oldest folk customs (the Obby Oss dance is incredibly old). The beaches are fantastic, it has links to King Arthur (Tintagel) and is very pagan & witchy. It's also a great place for holidays and I had one of the best faux mojitos I've ever had in Newquay. There's just something wonderful about seeing the sea and hearing the waves.
5. Manchester - I always get excited visiting Manchester. I've had some wonderful times there, usually for bands (first saw Rammstein and Blue Gillespie there), queer stuff (Bifests and SM Dykes), and wrestling (FTLOW). It's so easy to navigate and I always feel like I need to explore it more. Afflecks Palace is an absolute gem (or at least it was). Again Manchester has an incredible music history, and it's rightly proud of this. There is a rivalry between Brum and Mancs, but Brum will always win for me

5.] You know what's going on?
Paul was in a quandary because his most brilliant Church was his most troubled Church, the Church where people were doing the most, had the most vision, & seemed to have the most gifts..
& probably in all of the provinces, where the most miracles were happening: healings & prophecies & things like that was also the Church in which it was
   •  the most jealousy    •  the most divisions    •  the most fighting    •  the most pride    •  the most moral lapses    •  a kind of legalism on this side &    •  people falling into temptation on this side
So Paul writes the letter & he drops the bombshell
Now before I tell you what the bombshell is, let me just say one thing—there's never been a city that I've seen anywhere more like Corinth, and there's never been a Church that I've seen anywhere more like this Church.
There's more brilliance in a Church like      Redeemer & there's also more problems      than I've ever seen anywhere. I want you      to know not as many problems as Corinth
And I'll tell you why.
5.1] Success Breeds Problems/Antagonism
Because we haven't been as spiritually successful.
If our prayers are answered in New York, & lots & lots of corinthianizers become Christians then we are going to have more of these problems in our Church—we are going to have more moral lapses, & more discipline problems, more disputes, more controversies about how we can relate to a pagan culture.
………………………………………………………………… The problems of the Corinthian Church as serious as they are, are the problems that come from a revival in an urban setting. …………………………………………………………………
5.2] Truth Bomb: Gifts ≠ Salvation
The more I read 1 Corinthians, the more I realize these are issues that suburban Churches will never meet—but urban Churches do all the time.
So let's not look down our nose at the Corinthians, let's realize this is what happens.
These corinthianizers where the most brilliant & the most troubled of any Church, so Paul in order to get their attention & to see the seriousness & to wake them up & to help them.
he drops a bomb & here's the bomb, let      me summarize it for you. He says that      you can have spiritual gifts in general &      miraculous gifts even in particular & not      be a Christian at all.
He says you can speak in tongues, you can have revelations, you can have incredible insights, & you can have tremendous spiritual excitement
     ready to move mountains
You can be so flat out committed and are ready to die for your faith, you can be radically in favor of helping the poor, & giving all of your money away—and not just be immature
…………………………………………………………………      but be spiritually nothing, GOD can      operate in your life through spiritual      gifts & you not be a Christian at all
He says I just want you to get your priorities straight he says spiritual gifts are wonderful, I'm so glad you have them. But later on he says,
If I speak in tongues as much as you, and      he says prophecy is a great thing, he's not      down on any of these things.
But he says
I want you to realize that your theology is      in really bad shape; as a result your hearts      are in bad shape.
Do you know that all these things can      happen in a non-Christian? Do you      realize that you can have all these      spiritual gifts in general & miraculous      experiences in particular.. these can      happen in somebody who's not even      a Christian at all! Never given their      heart to GOD, no saving grace in the      heart at all? Do you know that?
Now somebody's gonna say, “Gee all those times I listened at the weddings, you know, him saying
…………………………………………………………………      if I speak in the tongues of men & of      Angels & it sounds so nice. Now this      is alarming! Yes …………………………………………………………………
Now you're starting to get it.
Now I want you to know there's a lot of biblical evidence for what Paul is saying — lots of it in Matthew 7:21-23
JESUS says on the last day people will come to ME & they will say didn't we prophesy in YOUR Name & didn't we cast out demons, and didn't we do all these wonderful works in YOUR Name?
Which in the Greek it was just a typical      way of saying miracles, that's the word      did we not “prophesy,” did we not cast      out demons, & didn't we do wonderful      works in THY Name & JESUS says
I will say to them, “I never knew you!”
In other words, you were spiritual nothings.
Better Than Miracles P1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 | Timothy J. Keller [1 Corinthians 13:1-3]

Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four, Part Five, Part Six,Part Seven, Part Eight, Part Nine, Part Ten
The sleep came easily enough, even easier considering that you had gone all day with no rest and unbeknownst to you it was the most rest you would receive in months.
In the land of the living it had been three days and you hadn’t had a clue, for you it was just like any other dream. Time was irrelevant and nothing important to worry about as you walked around the abandoned market. With the information you now had you came to the conclusion that this was a Viking age settlement.
And just knowing that much made you eager to look around and see everything. How many people could say they had seen something like this? It would be an opportunity lost if she didn’t explore.
You were still in your hospital gown and had been barefoot before you found some shoes that were too big but they stayed on.
Viking mud is still mud after all.
There was so much to see, there were stands that had vegetables and fruits and less attractive ones that had dead animals hug up on display. Further into the market area you found jewelry and long stretches of fabric. Most were brown or white but others were absolutely gorgeous colors like red, blue and gold.
It was while you were touching a blue silk fabric that you heard something behind you.
Muddy footsteps.
It made a wet squishing noise; squish squish squish, getting closer but not at a rushed speed.
Whoever was behind you felt no need to rush.
You turned around; fully expecting to see the man with no eyes to be standing there with a new riddle for you to solve, but that wasn’t who it was.
It was you.
The woman standing before you had your face, she was older maybe in her twenties or early thirties, her hair was longer than you could imagine growing yours and it was in a braid that rested plainly over her shoulder. She was wearing a brown dress and leather shoes.
Despite how much you had looked into mirrors you had never seen yourself like this.
‘Y-you.’ you managed to say when you found the will to speak.
‘You.’ the woman smiled.
‘Do you know who I am?’ she asked as she stepped closer to you.
Instinctively you stepped back.
‘Your name is Wilda, you are a Saxxon woman.’ you replied.
‘I am, or maybe I was. It is hard to understand even for me, I have been dead for so long and yet here I stand speaking with you.’ she mused.
She walked over to the fabric you were just holding and rubbed it curiously.
‘I had been wanting this fabric when I died, the woman who made this was the best seamstress in all of Kattegat.’
‘Kattegat? Is that the name of this place?’
‘Yes, this is where it all began. This is where it all happened, where your fate was sealed with the Boneless One. I must apologize, for I am also responsible for involving you in all this, but please know I didn’t wish for any of it.’ she said sadly.
It was weird seeing yourself like this, it was like watching yourself in a movie but you had no memory of acting in it. Either way this woman...this you, was talking and it was understandable.
‘Can you tell me what happened, why am I involved and what will happen after Ivar accepts his past life?’ you asked.
‘I do not know it all, but I will tell you what I know, come walk with me, I want you to see something.’ she said as she began to walk away from the fabric stand.
You walked beside her, still keeping a bit of distance.
‘I was a child of the church, in York. When I was a small child the city was raided by the Sons of Ragnar and their Heathen Army. I barely survived but after they took over Ivar took me in as a slave.’
‘Why?’
‘I was often the apprentice to the healers after men would come from battle. I would take care of his legs with salves and oils. He hated me, it was simply a fact but he valued my care through the years.’
‘Why did you marry him?’
‘Years had passed and I’d seen him do...horrific things, he’d won great victories and suffered massive losses then all at once he was just losing. Battle after battle his plans failed him, he was losing his fame, becoming a joke among warlords.’
As the two of you walked past the last stand of the market she led you through a trail in the woods.
‘At his wits end he called on the seer.’
‘Seer? The man with no eyes?’ you asked.
She nodded.
‘He sees peoples’ fates and speaks with the Pagan Gods. He told Ivar that the Gods had abandoned him; that they had favored his father Ragnar despite the disrespectful way he viewed them, and they would not show Ivar the same mercy if he followed his father’s footsteps.’
‘Ragnar? I thought he was a myth.’
‘People spoke of him as if he were, but he was a real man with real feelings. Ivar loved him despite the strain his broken legs put on their relationship, and like his father he began to place too much pride in his own importance.’
‘Broken legs...he really couldn’t walk could he.’ you said in amazement.
‘Not on his own he made braces to keep himself upright, really they were amazing to see. Even I, who despised him, felt a small amount of admiration for his resilience.’
‘I grew up in his care, he never hurt me but he was cruel. When he came to me demanding my hand in marriage I didn’t understand. He told me it was life or death, he said he would have the church in York reduced to ashes if I refused.’
‘How romantic.’ you said sarcastically.
‘I thought so as well. From what was told to me Ivar had gotten everyone close to him cursed, exiled from all their nine worlds, left to wait for the reincarnations of both Ivar the Boneless and a Christian Girl to to reunite and his guilt alongside her love and forgiveness would be the light that lead them to Valhalla.’
‘My love?’ you asked in embarrassed shock.
‘Yes, you love him and I know it.’
‘How can you know something like that? Do you feel my emotions or something, because I’m not sure if it is more than a crush.’ you said in your defense.
Wilda laughed and was odd to hear it, you recognized it as your own laughter but you never heard from someone else.
‘My sweet girl, you are not the first reincarnation, and your Ivar isn’t the first either, if God wills it you will be the last.’
‘I’m not the first? How many have there been and what happened to them?’
‘They all end up here eventually.’ Wilda answered as at last the two of you had arrived at your destination.
You were in a large clearing. There was nothing else there to take your eyes away from what was in the center.
Two graves, both empty and two piles of dirt waiting to fill them in once there was a body inside.
Your heart was lead.
‘It is never painful, for any of them, you’ll just go to sleep.’
‘But I- I’m sleeping now...am I am I d-‘
‘No, you are alive outside I promise. All you have to do is wait, wait for Ivar to accept his faults and remorse.’
‘And if he doesn’t then what? You’re saying I can’t do anything for myself? What kind of misogynistic bullshit is this? I thought Viking women had rights of their own.’ you ranted angrily as you paced, looking away from the graves.
‘Unfortunately, I wasn’t Viking, even if I did follow their beliefs I was a thrall. I had no rights before my marriage and even with that title I was still Christian.’
‘So what? Just sit here with you and wait?’
‘Yes, do you have faith that your Ivar will save you?’
‘Of course!’ you shouted so suddenly that it surprised you.
All at once it hit you how much faith you had in Ivar, the one thing you had no doubt about was that he would do anything for you.
He cared for you, even if not romantically, he cared about you; and no matter what he had to do he would save you.
Or he would die trying.
‘Then wait.’ Wilda said sweetly.
Ivar’s POV
The last three days had brought about a lot of chaos.
(Y/N)’s family was devastated by the news, her siblings were scared and her mother was in complete shambles. Miss (Y/L/N) had called your father who flew out with his wife and other kids and had arrived on the second night.
His own family had been affected as well, he had been too shaken up and crushed by guilt that he couldn’t drive so he just sat in his car feeling sorry for himself and crying harder than he had since he was a child. His brothers ended up tracking his phone and once he had calmed down he explained what had happened.
No one in the Ragnarson family could ever remember seeing Ivar this distraught before, even his parents sat aside their marital issues enough to sit in the waiting room with Ivar and (Y/N)’s family.
It was strange to see for Ivar.
His family loved each other in their own odd constipated way, but they rarely got together like this. Even Bjorn and Lagertha showed up once, apparently they all wanted to be there for him but he suspected they just couldn't get over the fact that he had a friend.
Every day there were at least four people in the waiting room for (Y/N) and one of the most constant residents was Ivar.
He hadn’t even gone to school, all he could do was sit and watch...and think about things. Think about what he had to do, because no matter what logic told him he just knew this was his fault. She was a human vegetable and was because of him.
That thought alone made his head hurt, he was constantly taking pain killers that did little to ease his headaches.
He was on his phone watching the same video he had seen a thousand times it felt like.
The footage from (Y/N)’s sleep study.
Her mother had demanded the footage, in hopes to find some kind of clue about what led to (Y/N)’s sudden seizure. She expected to see an administration of medicine or maybe even a nurse sneaking in, anything to explain it.
Unfortunately there was nothing on the film that the doctors hadn’t already explained. For about an hour she was sleeping peacefully, a bit of uncomfortable tossing and then, like a firecracker had startled her, she shot up.
Her body convulsing as she thrashed around so violently that she fell out of the bed and if the visual wasn’t upsetting enough the scream she let out after she landed on the floor was absolutely blood churning.
She was screaming loud and shrill at the top of her lungs, all the while her body never stopped shaking, her limbs were endlessly flailing. The nurses and doctors had rushed in to restrain after only forty seconds or so but it felt so much longer to Ivar.
He watched how carefully Herald administered the sedative and the way (Y/N)’s body went immediately limp. Ivar closed the video once the doctors started hurriedly checking her vitals.
Ivar sighed and stood up to stretch, the joints of his shoulder blades cracking in protest as he did so.
‘Going home for the night Ivar?’ Miss (Y/L/N) asked as she yawned in her own chair.
‘No, just going to the restroom, might get a coffee.’ he assured.
‘Grab me one please.’
‘Of course.’ Ivar said happily.
He didn’t really need to use the toilet, just needed to move around. His legs were getting sore and he needed to take his pills and he preferred to do that in private.
‘I would have killed for a treatment like that in my life.’
The color drained from his face as he looked in the mirror and saw a most unwelcomed sight.
‘I get the feeling you don’t like me much...understandable I suppose.’ the old man said from behind him.
His heart suddenly swelled with anger as he turned and swung, ready to feel his fist connect with the bearded face of this bastard, but it didn’t.
All that happened was his fist went right through him, as if he were air, with nothing solid to connect to he stumbled to regain balance.
‘I’m sure had I been alive that would have been a solid attack, were you done or do you want to waste more time? Because your Christian doesn’t have much to waste.’ the old man said tiredly.
Ivar turned around and glared, but it softened a bit when he saw something he hadn’t noticed before in his anger.
The old man was standing.
There were unpainted metal braces on the viking’s legs that seemed to be the only thing keeping him up, along with the cane he was using.
‘Why are you here?  Are you going to kill her now, brain dead not enough for you? She has nothing to do with this, whatever bullshit this all is, leave her out of it!’ Ivar shouted, not caring if someone heard him yelling to himself.
‘My Christian had nothing to do with my problems either, and had she been as selfish as I was she would have refused to take part. Then I would be cursed with no hope of redemption, and both of our Christians would have had longer and probably happier lives without us.’ he said tiredly.
‘But she was soft, she felt it was her stupid Christian duty to help others over herself. Despite her resentment for me, and mine of her, she agreed to help my family and for that I want to repay my debt to her. In order to do that I need you to see me.’
‘I do see you.’ Ivar argued.
‘No. You see an old man in strange clothes but you don’t see yourself in me at all do you? It's frustrating because you are the last and most important piece to this complicated puzzle. The Christian, her job was to find us, you and me, now you have to see us. Really look at me and see yourself...she will die if you don’t and the loss of her will drive you mad.’
He felt like ripping out his hair in frustration, Ivar had never been this angry. In his youth anger was the backbone of his personality, he was angry because his legs hurt, he was angry he couldn’t talk to anyone other than his brother because he didn’t have any friends, he was always angry. But this was pure rage; red hot and scalding, he was angry because he was terrified.
‘What do you mean she will die?’
‘Her body is here where you can see it, but her essence is in the void between the nine worlds and a living person can only stay there a short while before their body lets them go completely. Please if not for me and my family or yourself do it for her.’
For her, all at once his anger left him.
‘J-just look at you?’ he repeated.
‘See me...and look into you.’
Ivar felt like fire ants were covering his entire body, his stomach felt ready to rid itself of the crappy hospital lunch he’d had earlier, his heart felt like it was frozen in ice; and all that paled in comparison to his headache.
He had only met the eyes of the old man for a few seconds and already he wanted nothing more than to look away.
For her.
Ivar dug his nails deeply into the palms of his hand as he held the man’s gaze.
‘There you go, see me...see all we have done.’
Then as if zoomed in like a scene from a movie he could see images in the blue pupils, and what he saw made him want to look away even more.
He saw...a boy with a dirty face it looked like he was trying to pull something, suddenly he felt like there was something leather in his hand and he pulled it back he felt the boy in the eye pull it back and suddenly he struck his hand out with all his might and watched as the boy in the eye was hit in the head by the blade of an axe.
‘No!’ he gasped in horror.
‘Don’t look away, no matter how terrible or how ashamed. Do not look away.’ the viking said, but his voice was different now. It wasn’t as hoarse as before it appeared to be...younger in a way.
The boy faded away and he saw something worse than the boy.
‘Sigurd?’
In the eye there was his brother, his hair long, his clothes strange and he was talking and Ivar wished more than anything that he couldn’t hear what his own brother was saying, but he did, clear as a bell in his mind was his older brother’s voice.
‘It must be hard for you now that your mummy’s dead. Knowing she was the only one who ever really loved you.’ Sigurd said in a strange dialect as he sipped something from a chalice.
Hurt and anger swelled and he felt something wet and thick touch his lip and distantly his mind realized his nose was bleeding heavily, again his arm jerked forward and watched an axe fly and plant itself in his brother's ribs.
‘Sigurd…’ he whimpered as his eyes began to overflow with tears.
If anyone came into this restroom they would see him standing still as a statue, staring into space as his nose bled like a red river and his eyes leaked like faucets.
‘Don’t look away, don’t run from what you have already done.’
‘Sigurd...Siggy I’m sorry. I didn’t mean-’ he choked on the lump in his throat, the blood from his nose leaked into his mouth as he spoke and the taste was horrid but it felt nostalgic in a horribly gruesome way.
Again the image in the eyes changed and this one was more than the image it practically sucked him in like a portal.
No longer was he in a hospital restroom; he was in a stone building and there was so much noise, loudest of all was a baby crying. He could recall this, the dream, the one he remembered in the truck that night with (Y/N) the one that made his nose bleed.
This time it was so much more, it felt like his brain was exploding in his skull, he felt an aching throb in his ears but it didn’t compare to the horror he was seeing and hearing.
He could smell burning flesh, feel the heat and as the melted gold poured into the crying man’s mouth; the screams would haunt him until his last breath.
In horror he felt his chest shake in laughter.
Just when Ivar thought he would pass out from the pain in his head he felt something he hadn’t felt in years. His legs were breaking under his weight, but that wasn’t possible, he had titanium bones, they could never break but still he felt it. Even worse so he heard that familiar cracking noise as he fell to the floor.
‘Hold strong, we both know you can take more than this, and there is so much more to see.’ now Ivar was certain the voice he heard wasn’t the voice of an old man.
That was his own voice, and he suddenly processed that he wasn’t being sucked into the eye, but the eye was moving closer to him.
No longer was the phantom standing on crude braces as an old and ragged man. Now he was crawling, using his strong arms to pull himself along, his legs dragging behind him like a useless tail.
More than anything Ivar wanted to look away and see what the face of this man looked like now but he couldn’t.
For her… for (Y/N).
He stilled himself and tried to brace himself for more pain he was sure would come.
He had been right, more pain came and no amount of preparation would have made him ready for it.
A thousand or a million images flashed in the eye going so fast it shouldn’t have been possible to follow each one, but he could. Not only did he see and comprehend each image he felt them.
He saw the light go out in a fat man’s eyes as someone was chopping into his back with an ax, he felt the muscles in his arms ache with the effort it took to stab through the muscle and bones of a man in the heat of battle.
That was when he realized that these images, these senses were all things he’d seen and experienced before.
These were his dreams.
‘Yes, you are remembering. That is good, almost done now; look at me.’
At last that horrible eye closed, and Ivar nearly collapsed in relief, but he kept just enough energy to look up at the face that carried the eye.
There was no longer a beard to hide anything from view he could see the face in front of him with complete clarity.
This truly was his face, it was like looking into a mirror but this mirror showed what he looked like before.
‘Finally...you see me.’ He smiled.

Pagan and witchcraft festivals confront growing Christian harassment
https://www.washingtonpost.com/religion/2022/08/26/christians-pagans-harassment/
As widespread immunity and milder coronavirus strains have spread across the United States, pagans and witches, like their neighbors, have begun to gather more freely this summer at annual community events after two years of relative isolation. So have some unwelcome guests. Street preachers and Christian protesters have long been a fixture of Earth-based religions’ gatherings as they try to distract and deter people from enjoying what are typically outdoor festivals and ritual gatherings. But this year, some attendees say, these opponents of witchcraft and paganism have become more aggressive and even dangerous.
“There were about 30 [evangelists] this year,” said Starr RavenHawk, an elder and priestess of the New York City Wiccan Family Temple and organizer of WitchsFest USA, a street fair held in the city’s West Village in mid-July.
Over the past seven years, barely a half dozen of these disrupters would show up, RavenHawk said. But the groups that have appeared this year “aren’t just protesting,” she added. “They are collectively at war with us. They made that clear.”
RavenHawk said the evangelists and street preachers walked through WitchsFest, holding up signs and preaching through amplifiers. By the day’s end, their presence had caused class cancellations and vendor closings. Without formal networks of houses of worship and often living far from fellow practitioners, American pagans and witches depend heavily on assemblies with names such as Pagan Pride and Between the Worlds to share information and camaraderie. While some are held inside conference centers or in hotel ballrooms, summer events tend to be visible and hard to secure.
In 2016, Nashville Pagan Pride Day was visited by street preachers Quentin Deckard, Marvin Heiman and Tim Baptist, who marched through the event with signs, Bibles and a bullhorn. In 2017, the Keys of David church protested Philadelphia Pagan Pride Day. In 2018, a Christian men’s group encircled a modest crowd at Auburn Pagan Pride Day in Alabama in an attempt to intimidate them.
Indoor events aren’t entirely immune. In 2018 and 2019, members of TFP Student Action, a division of American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, were joined by Catholics in New Orleans to protest HexFest, held annually at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. Religious fliers placed under hotel doors informed attendees they were surrounded. “Your only hope is to accept defeat and surrender your life to One who created you,” read one flier.
On the same weekend as WitchsFest USA, attendees at the Mystic South conference in Atlanta found Christian pamphlets in the lobby and on car windows outside the hotel where it was taking place. In Texas, pastor Kevin Hendrix has encouraged Christians to take a stand against the Polk County Pagan Market, held in October.
Many pagan events are not held in public spaces for this reason, although that has been changing over the past 10 years as occult practices have found more acceptance in the public eye.
Held in busy Astor Place, a tourist crossroads, the day-long WitchsFest USA is one of the most visible pagan festivals and, therefore, one of the most vulnerable.
“RavenHawk creates this marvelous event every year in the heart of New York City as a public celebration where everyone is welcome as long as they maintain an atmosphere of respect towards others,” said Elhoim Leafar, who was scheduled to lead a workshop at WitchsFest USA and has attended for years.
The Christian group took up a prominent position on one street corner as the festival began at 10 a.m. and began talking to attendees and preaching into amplification devices. Among them, RavenHawk said she recognized members of the New York City chapter of Christ’s Forgiveness Ministries, a Toronto organization that had sent visitors before.
After her security team asked the preachers to leave, RavenHawk called the police as she has done in past years. But, for the first time, the cops did nothing, she said.
“The Christians say nobody is being bothered,” RavenHawk was reportedly told by the officers. In past years, officers would relocate the preachers to the far side of Astor Place, where they would continue without the use of speakers, which require a permit.
This year, the Christian groups were allowed to remain at the festival with their sound amplification. According to RavenHawk, the officers called the preaching “freedom of speech.” It is unclear whether the groups had permits.
One attendee, Soror Da Glorium Deo, said, “When the police had the opportunity to downgrade things by possibly escorting the troublemakers off the area, they chose not to de-escalate.”
The New York Police Department did not respond to requests for comment.
“[The officers] treated us as if we were invading the Christians’ space, as if they had more rights than we do,” RavenHawk said. “[The preachers] were loud, and they were carrying on. Of course it was disruptive.”
When organizers moved the workshop tent away from the corner near the preachers, the Christian groups followed. “At a certain point, the protesters were not only in the surroundings and corners of the event with microphones and banners, but inside it,” said Leafar, whose class was canceled due to the preachers.
“We are not publicly protesting at their churches on a Sunday,” he said.
“It is not correct, moral or ethical to harass any individual in public or in private based on their individual or family beliefs,” Leafar said. He believes that this behavior comes from ignorance and a “contempt for our individual values.” By the middle of that day, two vendors had left, said RavenHawk, telling her that “they didn’t feel safe.”
RavenHawk said she is tired of “turning the other cheek.” She has called the city’s Street Activity Permit Office, the community board and the NYPD’s 9th Precinct. “I want a paper trail,” she said. “I want to know exactly what my rights are.”
RavenHawk also called Lady Liberty League, a pagan civil rights organization based in Wisconsin, for legal advice and support. “The United States is founded on religious freedom for all,” said Lady Liberty League co-founder the Rev. Selena Fox in a statement to RNS. “Safe gathering and the right to practice our faith is as much our right as it is anyone else’s,” she said. Some attendees have suggested that RavenHawk move the event to a less public location, such as a park or hotel.
“We shouldn’t have to move,” she said. “We fought for this location for eight years.” It took that long, according to RavenHawk, for the community board to designate “WitchsFest USA” an “annual” event. Until then she was required to reapply every year, she said, enduring questions such as, “Are you going to burn babies?” Leafar agrees that it is important to not back down. “If we remain silent in the face of these protesters, those people who are new to our community are going to feel that they do not have the right to express themselves and pursue their individual faith openly.”

Author’s Notes | Being honest, I didn't find a way to have a Saxon princess being sent to Kattegat due to the fact Christians were pretty more sexist and unless she was already negotiated for marriage or some kind of deal with the Vikings, hardly the Saxons would trust a woman to go among Vikings and prevent a war, but yet, I found a way to adapt your idea and I really hope you like the final work!
What if Ubbe's deal with the Saxons had gone right...

"Við viljum kröfu landið okkar."
The voice of that Norseman was strange. A low tone you didn't have heard anywhere before.
The two men in front of the table where your older brother and your father were sitting alongside Bishop Heahmund were totally different from anything you have ever seen.
Their hairs were braided and long, they were taller and that one who spoke had eyes of intense blue you could almost say were pieces stolen from the sky on a sunny day.
They were beautiful. Both of them. A wild beauty you couldn't deny, but yet, both of them were scary for you.
For a long time, you saw your father and your brother speaking to those men and more than once, you saw the older of them looking at you. Your father also mentioned your name sometimes, so as that strange man - yet he couldn't speak your name properly, sounding strange in his strong accent.
The two Norsemen were dismissed for a moment and your father, Alfred and the bishop started to deliberate in between them, not really minding your presence into the tent: you were there just because your mother asked you to serve some drinks to your father's table while she was too busy taking care of Aethelred's wounds after the last battle against the Norsemen in York. You were about to leave when those two arrived and so, the curiosity kept you into the tent.
"They want peace," your father said, causing you to smile.
It was a good thing, after all, right?
"Two sons of Ragnar Lothbrok into my camp, after taking one of my towns, and they want peace."
Your smile kinda vanished. It was something good, but your father and the bishop didn't seem to be leaned to accept their proposal.
"It's a good deal, you must admit," Alfred said "We could settle them out of York and recover the power over the city they stole from us. The lands my grandfather promised to them are idle anyway. With the right way to work with them, we could turn this into something good for us," he insisted "The lands would start to produce, more tributes would be taken to the crown and we must admit their military skills are better than ours or we wouldn't be here after all," Alfred wisely settled, "Giving up on these lands for them could mean a good alliance that could include teaching our men their ways to fight. It would make us stronger."
"They're heathens, my lord," Bishop Heahmund stated, trying to sound respectful when his voice was only sounding arrogant to your ears. "We could have nothing to learn from pagans like them."
"I believe they're just... Into the dark," Alfred said, trying to argue with the bishop, "Which just make the situation a little more favorable to us: we could take the chance of convivence to show them the way of our Lord and open their eyes to the light. How many of them could we earn to our Lord Jesus Christ and turn into fellow Christians, my Lord Bishop? Think about it: to end a war, spare the lives of our men, make our military stronger, take lands out of idleness, and maybe earn some souls to Our Lord. I don't see where it could be a bad deal for us, of course, if we keep control over this situation. We have what they want... Set conditions they shall not deny. Rules that shall not be broken."
"They won't trust us," it was the time of your father to doubt, causing the bishop to sigh relieved.
You could see Bishop Heahmund didn't want that deal to happen. But how many of your father's men would have to die until that stupid man could give up on his pride? Wasn't pride a terrible sin under the eyes of your God?
"Then give them something that will make us trustable. If you want to be trusted, then, earn their trust, father," Alfred said "Ubbe has a good proposal, after all. It seals our bloodlines together in a way you shall not lose the hand of the royalty over those lands, in the end."
"Forgive me, my lord, but this would be stupidity."
Should you say how much the voice of that bishop was bothering you?
Nah. You shouldn't even be there!
But you kept your silence, paying attention to what they were talking, wanting to know the destiny of that conflict that had taken you from your home and almost took your brother's life.
"To mix your bloodline with the impure blood of the heathens would only condemn your family and expose Wessex to their lineage." the bishop continued, causing some shivers down your spine...
What exactly did he mean by "mixing your lineage to theirs”?
"My father has two heirs to the throne of Wessex, my Lord Bishop. They wouldn't be able to claim anything over two lines before them unless our Lord decides to take both lives, mine and my brother's, to let in their hands the crown of my father. And yet, it would be our Lord's will, proved in front of our eyes. We shall trust our God's will, shall we not?"
You started to make the math in your head.
Were they thinking about...
"Are you suggesting we should marry my Lady Y/N to that heathen and accept their absurd proposal peacefully, my Lord Alfred?"
"What?!" you squealed, unable to hold back your voice when the bishop delivered the whole conversation in a single sentence.
Your eyes went large to Alfred's and then to your father's.
"Should we be talking about this in front of your sister like that? Y/N, go see if your mother finished her work with Aethewulf and bring me news about my son." your father ordered.
As if you weren't completely paralyzed by the news you just discovered.
Married...
To a heathen?
To a son of Ragnar?
To which one of those men you saw?
The youngest one?
No. He didn't look at you one single time...
The oldest?
Was Alfred speaking seriously about this?
"Y/N!" your father's voice caused you to jump from your chair "Go. Now!" he ordered again and you bent before leaving the tent.
Your heart racing into your chest, your mind disoriented...
You weren't even paying attention to your way. Your steps were automatically following the way to the other tents as your mind was diving into all those questions once again.
Would you have to live among them?
The heathens?
Those some of your people called demons?
Would this be the sacrifice you would have to do to see your people finally free from the horrors of that war?
What about the horrors that could be waiting for you in those men hands?
Lost in thoughts and questions, you weren't able to see the two of them stopped in the middle of the way and your steps took you straight to that man's back: you stumbled and hit the oldest of those Norsemen in the middle of your way.
Your surprised squeal caused your men to unsheathe swords, all of them pointed to the two Norsemen in the middle of the circle of soldiers formed around them by your men, all ready to protect their princess from the two heathens they were being obligated to receive into their camp.
The youngest one among them also unsheathed his sword, ready to defend himself, denouncing how nervous and tense he was - maybe as tense as your soldiers were with their presence.
However, calmer, the older one just helped you to straighten your position after preventing you to fall straight to the muddy ground.
Tumblr media
You lift your face to see those blues looking straight into your eyes. It was like he was able to read your soul, but also, it was like his eyes were windows to his and you didn't see fierceness or fire in his eyes... Instead, you saw kindness when he helped you to find your balance one more time.
What was that man?
"I'm sorry..." you mumbled and he nodded before Alfred, your father, and Bishop Heahmund invaded the circle, probably warned by the sound of swords being pulled.
"What is happening here?" your father started, already alarmed.
But you answered him before it could put the two Norsemen into a bad situation - they were outnumbered... The more the Norsemen were skilled and devilish, yet, it would be a massacre.
"I fell. And he prevented me to hit the ground and helped me to stand once again, my father. It was just a misunderstood for he acted too fast and the soldiers were scared by his fast reaction. He just helped me. Once again, I'm sorry. And thank you." you said, politely bending your head in a respectful greeting towards the Norseman.
Your father ordered the men to sheath their swords and you saw that man touching the younger's shoulder, in a mute ask for him to sheath his sword as well, what he did without question.
"Come back into my tent. I think we already have a counter-proposal for you," your father said, inviting those men into his tent once again.
And you observed as the older one kept his eyes on you until they were inside the tent that was closed, preventing you to see or hear anything else about that deal.
You went to your mother, to fulfill your father's orders and the hours passed until you were finally allowed to get into the main tent to speak to your father once again.
"Come near," he called.
Those two Norsemen were still there, but the tension into the tent was different now.
Bishop Heahmund wasn't there anymore, probably unsatisfied with whatever decision was made that was making your brother Alfred to keep a small smile on his lips, victorious.
You stood next to your father and spoke in a low voice, kinda feeling strange with everyone in the room looking at you as if they were waiting for something to happen.
"Aethelred is getting better. Mother said his fever is diminishing and she believes he'll soon start to heal the wound in his shoulder."
Your father sighed in relief: his precious son would be recovered soon.
But then, the expression in his face became tense once again.
"Y/N, these are Ubbe and Hvitserk, sons of Ragnar and leaders of the army that came into our lands to avenge their father's death, murdered b King Aelle. With my father's cooperation..." he sighed as you looked at them, noticing that man he named Ubbe was still looking straight at you. "They came for a deal and we negotiated with them the best way to settle peace for our people and give them what..." he sighed "What your grandfather granted to them before he... Passed away."
So, as you, Ubbe seemed to be attentively listening to the words your father was saying.
So as Bishop Heahmund, the one he named Hvitserk seemed to be unsatisfied with whatever they dealt with your father but, unlike the bishop, he stood in his position, not leaving like a spoiled child.
"Your grandfather granted their people the lands of East Anglia and I shall warrant his words are kept and his desires are accomplished. However, it is pleasing to us to keep those lands closer to the crown of Wessex so..." your father's voice failed for a second.
He wasn't pleased with that decision, but you could see he was doing it for he had no other choice and he had to admit Alfred's plan was perfect for all the involved parts.
"We shall celebrate an alliance among us and the Norsemen. Ubbe agreed in being baptized and as soon as it happens, we shall celebrate your marriage to him, as a symbol of the union of our people and the friendship among the crown of Wessex and the new crown to rise at East Anglia. Meet your soon-to-be husband. I'll see my son." your father got up, leaving the tent in a rush.
He was completely annoyed with the situation, but his way to speak seemed to amuse the older Norseman and Ubbe opened his lips on a beautiful smile that caught you for a moment.
"Your father is too easily irritable," Ubbe said, using your language almost with perfection, despite the strong accent that was making his voice even hoarser. "As he said, I'm Ubbe. And it's a pleasure to meet you, princess Y/N."
He extended his hand to yours and you landed your hand on his, accepting his court when he gently kissed the back of your hand, tickling your skin with his beard.
Smiling he was even more handsome than with that frowned expression he came at the first moment. However, his brother was still frowned, seeming to be very annoyed with the interaction in between the two of you.
"It doesn't seem your brother is too different from him," you said, looking at Ubbe.
Attracting the pissed glare from the younger one.
"He's bothered by the fact I accepted the baptism under your God. Formalities... He forgets my father was also baptized under the Christian God, and also my uncle Rollo. So, it's not something new among our family."
Hvitserk sighed, bothered again. But Ubbe smiled at you a little bigger.
"Don't bother yourself about him. Hvitserk will understand. However, I fear we won't have too much time to talk with each other for now, my lady. I must return to my own camp to warn my brother Ivar about our deal and start the preparations for my men can be moved to the new lands." his eyes went to your brother and Alfred smiled at him when he continued. "At the rise of three suns we shall be ready to leave and York shall be given back to your hands, young prince. But keep my words, Alfred: our fathers had a friendship and your grandfather and my father might have negotiated with each other. But I'm not my father. And I won't accept to see my people treated the way that happened before. Keep your word and I shall keep mine. Break your word and things will be done according to my brother Ivar's will."
Alfred knew what he was talking about.
Despite you couldn't understand exactly what he was saying, something told you that his brother Ivar's will was something really bad for you and your people, enough for Alfred to agree with his words readily.
"As you said, our ancestors had relationships, but you aren't Ragnar Lothbrok, nor I am King Ecbert. Our ancestor's mistakes shall not haunt our steps."
Ubbe nodded, satisfied, turning himself to you with a soft smile.
"I'll see you soon, my bride," he said, kissing your hand one more time before touching Hvitserk's shoulder and leaving the tent with him.
"It won't be so bad, you shall see, Y/N," Alfred came, with a tone that sounded as if he was trying to console you.
However, his expression changed when his eyes found yours and he leaned his head, smiling.
"Or maybe it will be better than I thought. You liked him, don't you, sweet sister?"
Your face became instantly red as a tomato and you pushed your brother's chest, causing him to laugh.
"Stop it, Alfred! What do you mean by liking him? I'm just... I'm just accepting my face humbly as our Lord tells us to do! A woman's fate belongs to her father and brothers to decide and after then, to her husband to rule. It is my..."
"I know. I know, sweet Y/N," he cut you, touching both of your shoulders, with a calm smile in his face, "I know. Don't worry. I was just playing with you, my sister. But listen to me closely, if he ever hurt you or does something you think it's wrong, you can always pick up a horse and come back to me. I'll find a way to help you, ok?"
You smiled.
After all, your sweet brother would always be there for you.
"Thank you, Alfred."
He smiled and kissed your forehead, respectfully.
"Now come... Let us see Aethelred. He must be awakening soon."
Tumblr media
The following days were strange. You didn't see Ubbe or any signs of his brothers, however, the watchers your father settled around York warned the Norsemen were really moving. Some of them were preparing the boats to leave. Some were preparing packages and chariots to move.
At the end of three days - as Ubbe promised - the caravans were ready. However, the Norsemen that weren't moving with him were still there to protect the ones that decided to stay: the trust in between your people was thin.
You had a heavy-weight in your shoulders: to make that trust thicker and to strengthen the bonds that deal was forming among your people and your fiancé's.
Despite the clear unsatisfaction of Bishop Heahmund, your father kept his word and the men were taken to the lands of East Anglia where the Princes were settled into the empty castle that should be prepared for you and your future husband to occupy soon after your marriage. Like the bishop, Ubbe's brothers were unsatisfied as well, but as your father, Ubbe kept his word and accepted the baptism rite, denying his false gods and accepting your Lord in order to become a fellow Christian and seal the alliance in between your nations with your marriage to come.
A huge celebration was prepared to seal the marriage and settle his people on the new lands that would be properly divided to receive the new farmers to come from his lands as well.
You watched as a nation was about to be born when you got into the church of Wessex - where your marriage was to be celebrated before your husband could take you back to your new home.
The more he was a Christian now, Ubbe was still looking like a Norseman: cleaner than the men around him, his hair still long and braided with beads you never saw before so as his beard was combed and well straightened. Everything in him was different from the rest of the men you ever knew. And you had to admit your future husband was hella attractive.
He respected the rites of your church, sealing your marriage to him with a chaste kiss that barely allowed you to taste his spicy flavor. Something that changed drastically when the two of you arrived the feast his people had prepared in his lands to celebrate the new lands conquered, the new settlement and, of course, their prince's marriage, converting him from a prince into a King to his people.
Tumblr media
There were mead and music and despite the mood of his younger brothers - that settled their departure back home to the day after your marriage party - the party was really full of happiness. Soon, Hvitserk got drunk and you saw your husband laughing alongside his brother who left the moody ways of his younger brother Ivar and started celebrating for real, mocking your husband for being collared now and joking in their native language, sometimes leaving you out of the contagious laughs they were having together.
However, you observed the more his brothers were drinking, Ubbe was keeping control over the amount of alcohol he was drinking and at some point, he stopped drinking from his cup, just smiling and laughing when Hvitserk joked or throwing some words away with his hand all the time around your waist, keeping you near him as if he wanted you to feel safe despite everything was so different around you now.
At some point in the party, Ubbe leaned his face towards you and spoke almost whispering into your ear.
"Come. Let them celebrate..."
You knew that moment would come, but you didn't imagine you would be so nervous when he took you inside the castle, away from the feast and the music, inside the room the two of you would share from that day on.
He locked the door and sat beside you on the bed, caressing your face, straightening your hair, softly sliding his fingers on your cheek.
"Don't worry... I won't hurt you."
"I don't know what to do," you confessed causing him to smile.
"I know. Just follow me. I'll teach you everything."
His face came closer and his lips covered yours, but this time, there wasn't the same chastity of the church. Ubbe's hands brought you closer to the warmth of his body and you saw yourself involved by his scent as his spicy taste was spreading all over your mouth.
His tongue touched your lips and you softly opened them, feeling the way he deepened the kiss, exploring your mouth, degusting your reactions as if it was some kind of delight to him.
His hands started running your body slowly, searching for breaches in your dress, finding your skin in some points, causing you to shiver against his chest. Somehow, it seemed to be what he wanted, for soon he found a way to sneak his hands into your skirt, touching your skin where nobody dared to touch you before.
But he was your husband...
He should be allowed to slide his hands in between your thighs like that, right?
His lips should be allowed to run the skin of your neck in a warm and humid trail of kisses as he was doing, right?
Your mother told you it would happen. She never really raised you like the other women or like your father wanted you to be raised - completely chaste or pure. She knew how the men's world worked so, she taught you about the way men were pleased by the touches of your hands or the flavor of your skin. So, it wasn't such a surprise when his voice became a hoarse grunt in the back of his neck after your hands reached his skin into his shirt Ubbe helped you by taking out of your way.
His hands started untying the knots of your dress and you felt your heart racing into your chest.
You never had been naked in front of a man before. But the sight of your nakedness made his eyes to glow with a different color. The beautiful blues you saw before became darkened as they ran over your curves and Ubbe smiled.
"You're more beautiful than your dresses allow us to see, sweet wife," he said, causing your cheeks to burn, red once again. "Don't be ashamed... You shall get used to being praised very soon, for I couldn't be more satisfied with the wife I was blessed with."
His kisses became deeper. His touches, firmer. Soon your body was arching against the bed as you were trying to deal with the huge amount of different new sensations his lips, beard, and fingers running your body were making you feel, all at once. He seemed to know exactly what to do, where to touch, to take out your self-control and cause your voice to fill the room in sounds you never thought you were able to produce.
So, as you never thought a mouth was made for the things he showed you he could do with his tongue, running your nipples, your breasts, your bellybutton, and places of your body you never thought could be licked or kissed.
Your mother told you your husband would want to take your chastity. And she told you about the pain it would bring at the first moments. She just forgot to tell you how delicious it was to ride a man as if he was a wild horse under your body or how higher were the notes your voice could reach while your walls were pulsating around his hardness, taking smiles from your skilled husband due to the several times he was able to send you to heaven and above.
You were always taught men were touched by the sin of lust and heathens were demons that would lure you into hell. However, at the end of that night, it was you who was still mounting Ubbe like an Amazon, your belly full of his seed, but not enough he couldn't come into you one more time, growling the way you took a single night to learn it was your favorite tone of his voice.
Some few movements more and you collapsed in pleasure into his embrace. Tired, Ubbe leaned back at the bed, laying with your body over his; your skins glued by the sweat and fluids of a whole night of lust and pleasure.
For the first time since it all begun, you felt a little bit ashamed.
"I should be the one to lead you into heaven's way... And here am I, luring you into hell with the sin of lust... I must pray for our souls, husband. This way, we shall be lost to paradise," you mumbled, causing him to giggle, caressing your back that delicious way with his fingertips sliding through your skin from your nape to your hips and back, causing good shivers to spread all over your body.
"Then we shall feast in Valhalla instead," he said, causing you to look up at his face, seeing his beautiful smile. "It's not like the baptism really changes something in a man like me, wife. I mean... I saw Odin with my bare eyes and I was surely blessed by a Freya with one of her mares to be my wife. I might have accepted your terms, but my gods are still with me and if your god will punish us for being happy with our marriage, then I shall stick to the ones who will happily turn my seed in a child into your womb to celebrate what we become tonight, my dear wife."
His words making a sinful sense in your head.
"I should thank Alfred for this plan..." you said, smiling at him.
Ubbe came up to be a terrific thing in your life, after all.
However, he giggled.
"I suggested the marriage, sweet wife," he said, surprising you. "Your brother really cooperated a lot with my idea, but the initial idea of a marriage was mine. I saw you in that tent and I knew you should be mine... So, I asked the king if you were his daughter. If you were his servant, I would have bought you from him. But since you were his daughter, then I saw the perfect chance to seal the deal among us and having you mine the way I wanted."
You looked at him, surprised and impressed.
So, it wasn't a plan from your brilliant brother, but something your husband showed himself very smart and kinda audacious in trying.
"It seems my people were right and you are devilish minds, after all, sweet husband," you joked.
Ubbe held your waist, swirling the two of you in bed to put his body upon yours before pecking your lips and smiling against them.
"Devilish, you say. Smart, I call. One way or another, I have exactly what I wanted: Lands to my people, the end of this war and my beautiful wife, right where I wanted to have her."
You giggled.
"An evil mind... Poor me, married to such an evil man." you joked and he smiled.
"I didn't even start torturing you yet."
His fingers ran your belly, tickling your skin, and you laughed, oversensitive from the pleasure of moments before.
It all ended in a loving and passionate kiss before you smiled at your brand-new husband.
After all, the bishop and people of your lands were wrong about those men. And you couldn't be happier with your marriage.
You would pray your God for his words to be right. Or maybe you would pray his gods as well. But it would be good to think one of them would hear your prayers and make a child from his seed in your belly.
It would be good to see his offspring growing into you and put some more of those beautiful smiles on his lips.

Surprise @mom---nicole! Hope you like it!
December 18th, 2018
It was almost 3 in the morning by the time Steve managed to make it out of the bar. At least tonight was relatively busy as well as relatively uneventful. There were the folks there to drown their sorrows until Steve cut them off. There were others celebrating birthdays or such. No frat boys, though, thankfully. Major colleges were good for business outside the city, but Steve found that the frat boys who ventured out of their houses often stirred up the most trouble. He was a big guy, but there was only so much he was capable of.
He sighed and lit a cigarette. He just needed it to stay awake long enough for him to get home as soon as he was back, he’d go right to sleep. He didn’t have to work tomorrow and he was looking forward to getting stuff done and relaxing a bit. He took a deep drag through his cigarette and blew the smoke out. It formed an enormous cloud in the frosty night, mingling with the stars overhead.
Steve loved the stars. It was half the reason why he moved away from New York to Saratoga Springs. There was something magical about the night sky. The other half was that his ma died. After that, he couldn’t stay anymore. Logically, Steve knew that an omega alone at night, even one like him, was risky, but he always took a moment to look at the stars when they were out.
He finished his cigarette and tossed it in the nearest trash can before he got into the car. It sputtered to life and Steve thanked whatever deity was in charge of such things. He drove out of the parking lot and started the drive home.
Steve’s grandma had apparently left him a house. It was why he had come here instead of heading somewhere else. It wasn’t much, just an old house that had been in the family for about 100 years. It had needed updating when Steve got here a year ago, but now it was a fully functioning modern house. It was a bit on the small side, but Steve lived alone, so it was okay.
He parked the car in the driveway and locked it as he got out. He walked towards the house.
“Good evening,” came a deep voice. Steve jumped around and caught sight of a large man with broad shoulders. “Nice night for a stroll, wouldn’t you agree?”
Steve bristled. He might be an omega, but he could fight. This one, though, it probably didn’t matter what his designation was. He’d be a match for Steve. He was a few inches taller and had a more muscle.
“Can I help you?” he said, inching towards his house. He got his phone in his pocket and prepared to dial 911 just in case. “It’s been a long night and I really just want to go to sleep.”
“I think you can,” the man said. He took a couple steps forward. “You see, I’ve lost my way and I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to the interstate.” He gestured to a car parked along the side of the road across the street. Steve didn’t recognize it. “I was trying to make it into Canada by night, but I was waylaid. Could you help me?”
“You got lost?” Steve asked. “While driving in the middle of the night?”
“I was hoping to make it to Canada sooner, but I got turned around,” the man explained. “Please, if you could help me, it would mean so much. It is a cold night and the sooner I know where I am going the sooner I will be out of your hair. I am visiting family over the holidays.”
“Why didn’t you stop for the night?” Steve asked.
“Alas, I didn’t count on getting lost,” he replied. “Had I thought of that, I might have made sure that I could afford to find a place to stay.”
Steve shrugged. The story seemed plausible enough and if he was from a ways away, he might’ve been driving all day. And if anything untoward happened, there was the shotgun on the wall.
“Yeah, sure, come in,” Steve said. “I’ll get you something and help you out.”
The man smiled. “That is kind of you,” he replied. He held out a hand gloved. “I am Thor.”
“Steve,” Steve replied. He took the hand and shook it, somewhat surprised at how firm the man’s grip was. “Let me just get my keys here.”
Steve went up to the front door and opened it. He stepped inside, took his shoes off, and hung his coat up by the door. Thor followed him soon after. Steve took the sight of him in. He was tall with sun-kissed skin, with a broad, muscular build. Long blond hair fell down each side of his face in neat strands. His face was friendly and the smile that bloomed on his face when he looked at Steve was easy.
Steve found himself drawn to him, like this stranger had some kind of magnetic power over him. He was an alpha. Steve could smell it on him. He smelled like pine forests and iron and ozone and… blood. It was almost hypnotic, how appealing the scent was. He’d heard that people who very strongly compatible sometimes felt that way about each other’s scents. He never believed it.
I wonder if he was a soldier, Steve thought. People’s scents sometimes changed depending on their job. Steve had been told that his scent smelled a bit more like mulled wine since he started working at the bar.
He booted up his computer and together, he and Thor found a map that could take him across the border to Canada relatively easily. This close, Steve found it hard to focus on anything else. Thor made him want to tilt his head back and submit, bare his throat and everything Steve had prided himself on not doing just because someone was an alpha. He made himself study the map. Canada was pretty far and Montreal. It would take another 3 hours or so to get there. By then, it would be almost dawn.
“Why don’t you stay here for the night?” Steve said. “It’s late and you shouldn’t be out driving if you’ve been at it all day.”
Thor smiled wearily. “I could not ask you to do this for me,” Thor said. “I barely know you and I have no way of paying you.”
Steve smiled. “You didn’t ask,” he replied. “I offered. I have a spare room upstairs with lots of blankets.”
Thor frowned. “I cannot simply accept your hospitality,” he said. “You must have something in return.”
“You just said that there’s nothing you pay me with,” Steve replied. “It’s fine, just… stay for tonight, okay?”
Thor hesitated, but nodded eventually. “Very well. Thank you, Steve.”
Steve slept like the dead. He was honestly surprised he slept so well, considering that there was an alpha in the house to whom Steve was so strongly attracted to. He made his nest the previous night and slept right in the middle, curled around all his favorite old blankets and pillows. It was his safe space, this nest.
It wasn’t until he smelled the scent of cooking food that rose. Sunlight streamed through the windows, cold and clear like it usually was in the winter. He could smell… oh he could smell cinnamon rolls. He moaned and his stomach growled loudly as he rolled out of bed.
Thor stood at the stove. He hummed along as he worked at the stove. In addition to the cinnamon rolls, Steve found that there was also a bowl of eggs and a skillet full of sausage. It smelled incredible.
“Morning,” he said. Thor turned around and smiled. “What’s all this? Because I know that I didn’t have any of this in my fridge earlier.”
“Ah, well, my family enjoys sustainable farming,” Thor explained. “We grow our own food and exchange it over the holidays. I work as a butcher, so I bring meats.”
“That doesn’t explain the cinnamon rolls,” Steve said. He plucked an orange out of his fridge. “Unless you’re telling me that they come from cinnamon cows or something.”
Thor chuckled. “No, that I had to leave and acquire from the store,” he said. “It is the only way I have of thanking you for your hospitality.”
Steve smiled and sat down at the table while Thor divvied out the food. They ate in surprising comfort. Thor talked about his family’s holiday traditions. They would go out in the morning to hunt on Christmas Eve. If they succeeded in finding a deer, that was their Christmas dinner. If they did not, they slaughtered an animal. It was apparently some kind of pagan thing, killing an animal and offering it up as a sacrifice in the hopes of good fortune. It was certainly lively.
Steve told Thor about growing up in Brooklyn. He kept his traditions alive and usually went down to New York to spend Christmas with friends he still had in the area. His friend Bucky and his alpha, Sam, were thinking of moving up to Saratoga Springs with him.
“It’d be nice to see them more often,” Steve said.
“They are good friends, then?” Thor asked.
“Yeah, Bucky was my best friend growing up we met Sam in high school,” Steve said. “They’re mated, now, and apparently thinking of starting a family.”
Thor smiled. “That is wonderful for them,” he said. Steve smiled.
“They’ll be here for New Years,” Steve said. “They figured if they’re gonna move up here, they should take a look around first, see what the market is like.”
“Sensible,” Thor replied.
“You’re welcome to stay again if you’re passing by,” Steve said.
Thor blinked and smiled. “Thank you,” he said. “I would like that.”
December 31st, 2018
Steve almost jumped out of his skin when there was a knock at the door. Normally, he would’ve been at the bar for New Years, but Pietro had offered to take his place so he could spend more time with his friends. He, Bucky, and Sam were all catching up and drinking beers in the living room when it happened. It was almost 7, so it wasn’t like it was a strange time to be getting visitors.
“You expecting someone?” Sam asked.
“Nah, probably just the neighbor borrowing sugar or something,” Steve said. He got up and opened the door. “Thor!”
Thor smiled sheepishly and held up a completely dead phone. “I apologize for the suddenness,” he said. “Is… your offer still available?”
“Yeah, of course, come in!” Steve said. He led Thor to the living room. “Guys, this is Thor, the guy I was telling you about. Thor, this is Bucky and Sam.”
“Hey, Thor,” Sam said, holding up a beer in a salute.
“Stevie, we need to talk about you letting strange alphas in your home at night,” Bucky said.
“Nothing happened, Buck,” Steve said. “Thor, do you want a beer? They’re from a local brewery.”
“I would love some, thank you,” Thor replied. He was sitting down on the couch when Steve returned. Steve sat next to him and suddenly felt very aware of how close there were sitting together.
“So Thor, where are you from?” Bucky asked.
“I am from outside Baltimore,” Thor said. “I own a butcher’s in the city and my meat is locally sourced.”
“A butcher, really?” Sam asked. “Steve mentioned something like that. Said you made him a pretty mean breakfast with some of your stuff.”
Steve cleared his throat. “I’m sure if Thor has meat, then he already has plans of his own,” he said pointedly.
“It is all right,” Thor said. “I had planned to cook for you and your friends, anyway.”
“What, really?” Steve asked.
“Yes,” Thor said with a smile. He produced a cooler and pulled it back revealing fresh meat perfectly preserved and ready to cook. “But if you do not want this freshly butchered, beautifully marbled sirloin steak, I am sure that I could find some other purpose for it.”
“Steve,” Bucky said. “You’re keeping him, right?”
Steve laughed nervously and blushed. “Just for tonight, I think,” he said.
“Yes, I need to get back home tomorrow,” Thor said. “It has already been two weeks and I must return.”
“Well, you’re welcome to stay for the night,” Steve said. “And you’re more than welcome to cook us food. We haven’t started dinner yet.”
“Well, allow me to remedy that,” Thor said with a wide smile. He stood up and walked to the kitchen. Steve definitely did not watch his ass, or admire the way that his jeans hugged it as he walked out of the room, or the confidence and strength with which he moved.
“Stevie,” Bucky said. He had that devilish look in his eye. “Why don’t you go see if he needs some help?”
Steve blushed a little bit. “I think he’s fine,” Steve said.
“Steve,” Bucky repeated. “The nice alpha is making you food. If nothing else you could at least get some action or something.”
“I’m not going to take advantage of my guest, Buck,” Steve said, his mouth twisting in a look of disapproval.
“Sure, but maybe he’s right about something,” Sam said. “Maybe you’ll make a connection if you offer to help. You don’t gotta have sex with him, but it might be nice.”
“What about you guys?” Steve asked. “You’re my friends.”
“We’ll be here when dinner is done, punk,” Bucky said. “Now go!”
Steve rolled his eyes and got up. He walked into the kitchen to see Thor with four beautifully, thick steaks on a pair of plates. He turned around and smiled as Steve approached.
“Ah, good, you’re here,” Thor said. “Do you have any cast iron pans?”
Steve blinked and opened the stove. He took out two large cast iron pans and presented them to Thor.
“Excellent! Thank you,” Thor smiled. The room was filled with the smell of happy alpha and Steve purred in response.
“Do you… need any more help with anything?” Steve asked. “I can help you… cook or something?”
Thor blinked and regarded him for a moment before he smiled gently and nodded.
“Do you have potatoes?” he asked. Steve snorted and went to the pantry. He produced a full 10 pound bag of potatoes somewhat proudly.
“My family is Irish,” he said. “We always had potatoes growing up. I almost don’t know how to cook without them.”
“Well, that is good, then,” Thor said with a laugh. “I assume I don’t need to tell you how to peel them, then.”
They worked easily together, the rhythm coming to them as naturally as rain and wind. Thor showed him how to season steaks and how to tell good quality ones from cheap ones. Of course, it turned out that butchers had the best meat, but that was hardly surprising. Steve in turn, showed Thor his recipe for mashed potatoes.
“Do you always put so much cream and butter in them?” Thor asked.
“Only for holidays and special occasions,” Steve said. “Most of the time my folks were much more conservative about this stuff.”
Thor also roasted a pan of onions, mushrooms, and butternut squash before he turned the oven up to 500 degrees. He put the pans in by themselves. It was, he claimed, to get the metal hot so that the steak would sear and cook quickly, making it easy to make perfectly rare steaks. Sure enough, when they came out of the oven they were brown, the meat had a light char, and the meat bled like a perfectly rare steak should.
“I think I’m in love with this steak,” Steve moaned. Thor chuckled.
“Well, I wish you many years of happiness and a… fruitful union,” Thor said. “As for me, I will do as nature intended and eat mine.”
The four of them crowded around in the dining room and enjoyed one of the most delicious meals Steve had ever had. Bucky and Sam raved about it as well, but Thor seemed to pay most of his attention to Steve. He didn’t know what it meant but he appreciated the attention from the nice alpha who cooked good food.
After the four of them rang in the New Year, Bucky and Sam went upstairs to the guest room. Steve brought some blankets downstairs to Thor who settled in on the couch.
“Thanks for dinner, Thor,” Steve said.
“You are welcome, it was my pleasure,” Thor said with a smile. “I should get some sleep. I have a long drive tomorrow.”
Steve smiled. “If I don’t see you in the morning, I hope you have a safe drive,” he said. “And… maybe we can talk sometime?”
Thor’s smile grew. “I would like that, Steve.”
April 19th, 2019
Easter was late this year. It was almost strange that it hadn’t come yet. Steve wasn’t necessarily religious, but with Bucky and Sam having bought a house, there was a housewarming party coming up and Easter Sunday was as good a day as any to have a party.
That wasn’t why Steve was bustling about, though. Thor was coming. Bucky had asked Steve to extend Thor an invitation to come help with the housewarming party. Steve did, but he’d never expected for him to actually say yes. So now, Thor was coming and needed a place to stay. He was arriving tomorrow morning and Steve wanted everything to be perfect.
On a logical level, Steve knew that Thor had stayed twice before after just showing up. He knew that they had made the plan a couple weeks ago. He knew that Thor knew what Steve’s house looked like. Still, there was some part of Steve that wanted everything to be perfect for Thor.
Thor was… a good guy. They hadn’t seen each other in since New Year’s, but they had been in touch through texting and Skype. At first it was just once a week, but now, Steve was texting him every day and they Skyped several times a week. They talked about everything, from sports to politics to art to religion to family.
Thor knew that Steve was an only child and that his parents and grandparents were all dead. Steve knew that Thor’s entire family was pagan, that he was the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother, and that he had dual citizenship in both Canada and the United States.
Steve was old enough to know what it was that he was feeling for Thor. The only strange thing was that Steve had only met Thor twice. And yet, he couldn’t get Thor’s scent out of his nose. Thor made him feel happy and light, the way he smiled, the way he listened to Steve when he was going through something. Steve couldn’t remember the last time he was interested in an alpha who actually made him feel that way.
It was probably nothing.
Thor arrived early the next day with an arm full of food and a backpack slung over his shoulder. Steve actually laughed when he saw the burly alpha prepared to cook food yet again.
“You know you don’t have to cook food every time you come see me,” Steve said with a grin. Thor chuckled.
“Yes, but I figure that by now it is tradition,” Thor replied. “Besides, I enjoy cooking and you happen to invite me on major cooking holidays.”
“Technically you invited yourself over the last couple times,” Steve countered.
“In which case providing food was only polite,” Thor said. “Now, I have everything we need for what I’ve heard is an authentic Easter dinner.”
“Ham?”
“Ham? No, I brought lamb,” Thor said. “I have a recipe for plum-glazed lamb.”
“Oh, Jesus,” Steve moaned. “Bucky is gonna love you. Plum is his favorite.”
“Well, a happy coincidence, then,” Thor replied. He took a hat out of his backpack and handed it to Steve. “Ready to be my sous chef?”
Steve smiled. “Let’s get started.”
Steve was learning more about cooking from the brief bit of time he spent with Thor than he had in the 20 some years he’d spent growing up in New York. He’d always thought that he was just not that great at cooking if it wasn’t something he and his ma made, but Thor was patient and knowledgeable. The lamb smelled amazing by the time Thor was done.
Steve also made a red potato casserole that was, again, heavy on cream and butter, much to Thor’s amusement.
“Do you make anything that does not involve something Paula Deen would make?” Thor asked.
“Shut up, I’m Irish,” Steve drawled.
“My apologies, Paula McDeen,” Thor said. Steve slapped him with the towel and Thor laughed.
“Asshole,” Steve said, though he couldn’t keep the grin from his face. “Why am I friends with you, again?”
In lieu of answer, Thor sliced a small bit of the lamb off and held it in front of Steve’s face. Steve accepted it and moaned loudly as the tender meat exploded with flavor on his tongue. The meat combined perfectly with the sweet tanginess of the plum glaze.
“Fuck, forget Bucky, I think I might love you,” Steve said. He snapped his mouth shut and blushed as he heard what he’d just said. “Uh…”
Thor blushed, too, but turned away. He smelled pleased, though. Steve turned around, too and focused on… washing dishes. He couldn’t take advantage of Thor. If anything happened and the friendship ended, he’d be devastated.
When the food was done and dishes were washed, they piled the food carefully in the car and started driving down the street to Bucky and Sam’s new place. They had managed to find a nice place close to where Steve lived, not even a quarter mile away. It was convenient and sometimes weird to have neighbors, but the concept was starting to grow on Steve.
“Thor!” Sam greeted cheerfully when they arrived. “Glad you could come, man! It’s good to see you.”
“And you, Sam,” Thor said as he clapped Sam on the back in a display of alpha camaraderie. “I was pleased that you thought to invite me.”
“Of course, man, of course,” Sam said. “We invited some people from New York, too, but they couldn’t make it.”
“What of your new neighbors?” Thor asked.
“Turns out that the day before Easter isn’t usually a day when people go have dinner with other folks,” Sam said easily. “They’re friendly people so far, though.”
They went inside and set the food down at the table. The table was set with glazed carrots, green beans, and a soufflé that had all the signs of Bucky’s hand in it. Baking was the only kind of cooking he was any good at.
“Goddamn, somethin’ smells good,” Bucky moaned. He took the dish with the lamb and sniffed. “Fuck, I smell plums.”
“And lamb, Buck,” Steve said. “Thor made it.”
“Marry me,” Bucky said. Sam growled without heat and Bucky flipped him off. “You make me fancy food with plums in it and you can claim me back.”
“As charming as that would be,” Thor chuckled. “I am afraid I am not looking for a mate at this time.”
The words lanced through Steve’s heart and he busied himself with setting the table. The new place was bare. Sam and Bucky were still in the middle of unpacking, but the dishes were easy enough to find.
“Right, well, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m starving,” Steve announced. “Are we gonna warm Bucky and Sam’s new house or what?”
July 4th, 2019
For once, Steve was glad that it was his birthday. The hustle and bustle of New York was sort of maddening around the 4th. People from all over the country came and crowded the already huge city to watch fireworks or go to Coney Island or take pictures of the Statue of Liberty. Here, it was still everywhere, but it was a little easier to appreciate.
It also helped that Bucky and Sam were here and all moved in. And there was the fact that it was raining.
In fact, it was a torrential downpour. There was thunder and lightning and wind, the whole nine yards. Bucky and Sam were over and they were watching the Mets. Sam and Steve drank some beers, but Bucky was oddly avoidant today. Maybe he wasn’t feeling it.
It was a quiet and low-key day, just how Steve liked for his birthday to be. Eventually, Sam left to get them pizza and Bucky got up to sit next to Steve.
“Hey, I got somethin’ to tell you,” he said. He took Steve’s hand and squeezed it. “It’s an omega thing.”
“Okay,” Steve said, furrowing his brow. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” Bucky said. He smiled with equal parts nervousness and excitement. “I’m pregnant.”
Steve broke into a smile and he hugged Bucky excitedly. “Oh my God, Buck!” he cried. “Congratulations!”
Bucky laughed with relief. “Sam doesn’t know,” he said. “I don’t know if my scent has started to change yet.”
Steve scented him. There were… slight differences. Bucky smelled like mint and chocolate and the moment right before it started to snow on a normal day. Now… there was something else. Bucky smelled slightly sweeter than normal.
“A little bit,” Steve said. “Sam might not have noticed. “How long have you known?”
“I found out a couple days ago,” Bucky said. “I’m… kinda nervous to tell him. I mean, what if somethin’ goes wrong?”
“Well, whatever you do, you know you can talk to me,” Steve said.
“Yeah, of course, ya punk,” Bucky said. “How long have we been friends, again?”
Steve blushed and ducked his head as he laughed. Bucky lay his head on Steve’s shoulder and they turned their attention back to the game. Bucky smelled happy and content and Steve found that he felt the same way.
“I want you to be their godfather,” Bucky said. “The pup, when they’re born.”
Steve smiled widely. “I’d be honored to be their godfather,” Steve said. “I’m happy for ya, Buck.”
Bucky purred. Steve purred, too, until Sam got back, who immediately took in the scene before him and chose to let them be. He was kind enough to deliver their own pizza to them, though.
Later that night, Steve was in his pajamas about to go through his nightly ablutions. He hadn’t heard from Thor all day, which was fine. It didn’t feel nice to be ignored on his birthday, but Thor was a busy man with a successful butchering business. The 4th was probably a busy day for him, selling fancy steaks and stuff to rich people too good to buy a good old hotdog.
At that moment, the doorbell rang. Steve groaned and went downstairs because in the months that he’d been neighbors with Bucky and Sam, they had turned out to call on him at all hours just like when they lived in Brooklyn. He opened the door without checking to find Thor standing on his front porch absolutely soaking wet.
“Thor!” Steve cried. He blinked a couple times. “What are you doing here?”
“It is your birthday,” Thor said, as though driving 6 or more hours for solely that reason was the most rational thing in the world. “I wanted to help celebrate, but I could not leave my store before it closed.”
Steve smiled. He smiled big and blushed because honestly that was the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to him. Thor held up a bottle of champagne.
“May I come in?”
“Always,” Steve said.
November 29th, 2019
Steve loved Thanksgiving. It was arguably his favorite holiday of the year. It was less commercialized than Christmas, which kept encroaching on the rest of the year. Bucky and Sam’s families had come up to their new home, since Bucky was pregnant and everything. It was only the second trimester, but both the Barnes and the Wilson families had insisted on visiting them in New York.
It had been lively, that was for sure. The Barnes family was Italian, very Italian. There was lots of cooking and passion and loud voices. Sam’s family was from Virginia and just as loud and just as passionate. Steve had sequestered himself in one corner of the living room and watched as the family gathering descended into something resembling a friendly war zone.
He got the feeling that each of the families had been trying to outdo each other for the holiday. Bucky was sat on the couch for the day by George, his omega father, while his alpha mother, Winifred, drew up a battle plan to ensure that the dinner was ready on time. Steve presented her with his gigantic pot of mashed potatoes and claimed that his contribution to the dinner was done and joined Bucky on the couch.
For black Friday to actually be a bit of a reprieve from Thanksgiving was a little bit shocking, actually. Steve was getting ready to work at the bar, actually. Holidays were always good for business, after all.
The night was good. There were the relatives in from town who wanted the place to help them get through the weekend. There were the brave shoppers who had decided to dare the capitalist trap of the day who were nursing their wounds or celebrating their victories. There were the other local usual sorts and a few others who just wanted to get drunk.
During a slow part of the night, Steve spotted a familiar face. He smiled as Thor took a seat at the bar and smiled back at him. Steve walked up to him.
“You come here often?” he asked. Thor laughed at the meager attempt at flirting.
“I wish I came more often,” he said. “But I make it when I can.”
“You really gotta get better at letting me know when you’re gonna be in town,” Steve said with a chuckle. “Seriously, of all the times we’ve met, you’ve only ever let me know that you were coming once.”
“Well, you were hardly surprised the second time,” Thor replied. “And it couldn’t be a birthday surprise if you knew about it.”
Steve smiled and reached across the counter to take Thor’s hand. In all these months, his feelings for Thor had yet to diminish. Every time they talked on Skype, Steve’s heart fluttered. It had crushed him to hear that Thor wasn’t looking for a significant other back in April and Steve hadn’t brought it up since. Still, he couldn’t help but love the guy.
“It’s good to see you, Thor,” he said.
“And you, Steve,” Thor replied with a smile. “It didn’t feel like a holiday without you.”
Steve laughed, but his heart swelled with happiness and pride. Alpha liked him. Alpha missed him. Alpha wanted to be around him. It was the best feeling in the world when Thor said things like that.
“You mean, it didn’t feel like a holiday without you crashing my porch for a place to sleep?” Steve said with a grin. Thor bared his teeth playfully and growled. Steve laughed.
“Hey, bartender!” some beta woman shouted. “Quit makin’ eyes with your boyfriend and get me a refill!”
Steve rolled his eyes and grabbed a fifth of vodka that she seemed especially fond of tonight. “Can I get you anything?” he asked Thor.
“I wouldn’t say no to some whiskey,” Thor said.
“Good choice,” Steve said. “Be right back.”
The night went on. Thor got one refill of his whiskey and helped Steve with any unruly, drunken troublemakers that reared their ugly head. By the time the bar closed, Thor was the only one left and walked with Steve out the door.
“Thanks for staying,” Steve said. “Sometimes people get ideas after hours.”
“I am sure you would be able to handle them,” Thor said. “You are hardly a shrinking violet.”
“Damn right,” Steve chuckled. “You want a ride back to my place or did you drive?”
“I’ll follow you, if that’s all right,” Thor replied.
“Of course it is,” Steve said. He stepped close to Thor and hugged him. “You’re always welcome.”
Thor gave a pleased rumble and Steve had to fight to keep his omega instincts from screaming for him to submit. He did purr, though, and they held each other a little longer than usual.
Thor was quiet when they got home. Steve got himself a couple of beers to help him relax from the long shift and sat down with Thor. They sat together on the couch.
“I was wondering,” Thor began after a while.
“Yeah?”
“You’ve never mentioned there being anyone in your life,” Thor said.
“Yeah…” Steve answered.
“Is there… someone?” Thor asked. “We’ve talked a lot over the past year, it simply seems… interesting that you’ve never mentioned anyone.”
Every cell of Steve’s body wanted to scream, to say that he was, that he was looking for someone, for the right someone to come along for him to date, to love. He wanted to tell Thor that he wanted someone to be interested in him the way he hadn’t found in years.
“Yeah, there’s someone,” he said. Thor’s face fell and he downed the rest of the beer.
“Thank you, I should get to bed,” he said. He went upstairs. Steve watched him go and there was nothing left but him and the subtle smell of sad alpha left behind.
December 18th, 2019
The year anniversary of his meeting Thor was bittersweet. Steve hadn’t heard from Thor in much over the past couple weeks. He was suddenly busy, needed to work on something at his shop, or he had plans with friends, or he had business to take care of or something. Steve didn’t know what it was, but he felt sad. He missed their chats, missed seeing his face.
He tried not to think about it too much. Nothing between them could’ve ever worked, anyway. Probably.
Bucky came over to his house to help him decorate for Christmas one day. Steve was glad for the company. Bucky smelled sweet and comforting and it helped distract him from his issues to have his friend there to take care of and work with.
“Stevie, I swear to God, I’m still capable of getting up by myself,” Bucky said. “Just… takes a little longer these days.”
“Sure. Right. Sorry,” Steve replied.
“What’s up with you, anyway?” Bucky asked. “You’ve been puttin’ out sad vibes for weeks, now.”
Steve ducked his head. “I don’t know,” he said.
“It’s Thor, isn’t it?” Bucky asked. “Why don’t you just tell him how you feel?”
“What would be the point?” Steve demanded. “He said he’s not looking for anyone. He’s never talked about looking for anyone. He lives in Maryland, why the hell would he date someone in upstate New York?”
“I don’t know, but you never know, right?” Bucky countered. “And he said that back in April, Steve. It’s been months! Maybe he changed his mind or something. Maybe you being halfway between his home and his folks in Montreal isn’t a deal breaker.”
Steve sighed. “Maybe,” he said. “Maybe not. All I know is that last time he was here, he asked if there was someone in my life and I said yes.”
Bucky stared at him. “Why the hell did you say that?”
“Because it’s not exactly wrong!” Steve said.
“It’s not exactly the truth, either!” Bucky replied. He sniffled and Steve saw tears in his eyes. He immediately went over to throw an arm around Bucky’s shoulders. “Dammit, Stevie, I just wanna see you happy, all right?”
Steve sighed. “I know.”
“You’re really happy with Thor,” Bucky said. He sniffed as he got his emotions under control. “Why won’t you give him a damn chance?”
Steve hung his head in resignation. He fished his phone out of his pocket and went to Thor’s contact. His thumb hovered over the call button. What if he was busy again? What if… he didn’t want to be around Steve anymore? What if Steve fucked everything up?
Eventually, he decided to just do it and he pushed the button. The phone rang for several seconds. Steve’s heart hammered in his chest the entire time. Finally, he heard the line pick up.
“Steve?” Thor asked. “What is it?”
“Thor,” Steve said thickly. His voice seized up and he couldn’t talk.
“Steve, is something wrong?” Thor asked. “I’m sorry I haven’t been available lately. I have… been going through something.”
“It’s fine,” Steve said. “You… you wanna come up?”
“You are inviting me to stay at your house?” Thor asked.
“Yeah,” Steve said. “It’s the anniversary of the night we met. I thought… it would be nice to see you, is all.”
There was a long, pregnant silence on the other end of the phone. Steve prayed silently that he would say yes. He wanted, needed to see Thor again.
“I will be there,” Thor said. “It may take me some time, though.”
Steve chuckled. “Thank you,” he said. “I’ll see you later, okay?”
“Thank you, Steve,” Thor replied. He hung up.
At 2 in the morning, Steve’s doorbell rang. He bolted up off the couch and dashed to the door. He flung it open and there he was. Thor, looking tired and smelling happy and seeming maybe a little hopeful. Steve smiled as he saw him and a wave of relief washed over him.
“You wanna come in?” Steve asked. Thor smiled and stepped inside. As soon as the door was shut behind him, Thor pressed Steve up against the door and captured his lips in a passionate, desperate, needy kiss. Steve hummed in surprise but kissed Thor back eagerly. It had been a while, but his lips seemed to remember what they were doing. They slotted against each other perfectly before Thor pulled back.
“I’m sorry,” he said. His voice was thick, as though he had been crying. “I know there is someone else, but I had to do that, just once.”
“Thor… what?” Steve asked. His mind was still catching up, his lungs were breathing deeply.
“I hope that whoever it is gives you the greatest happiness, Steve,” Thor said sadly.
“Stop,” Steve said. “Just stop, okay? What is going on here?”
Thor looked down in anguish at Steve’s face. “Is it not obvious?” Thor asked. He caressed Steve’s face gently. “I love you, Steven Grant Rogers.”
Everything stopped. Steve’s heart, the moon and stars overhead, the breath in his lungs, the blood in his veins, everything pulled to a screeching halt like Joshua had stopped the sun in the Bible. Steve stared at Thor in amazement.
“You… do?” he asked. Thor smiled sadly and pressed another gentle kiss to Steve’s lips.
“I do. I have for a long time,” he said. “I should have known that someone as good and perfect as you would have been beyond me.”
“But… but you said that you weren’t looking for anyone,” Steve protested. “Back in April, I remember.”
Thor took Steve’s face in his hands. “How could I look at anyone else when you are here?”
Steve surged forward and kissed Thor again. It was deep and passionate, an entire year of attraction and longing suddenly unleashed like a stampede. He kissed Thor so hard and so passionately that by the time he pulled back, he was completely breathless.
“I love you, too,” Steve murmured. “It’s always been you, Thor.”
“Really?” Thor asked with a brilliant smile. “You desire me?”
“Thor,” Steve said. “Before you, this was just a house. It was a nice house, but still. Every moment that you’ve spent here made it feel like a home.”
Thor’s gaze grew soft as he kissed Steve again. Steve kissed him back and it slowly deepened. After a while, the touch grew heated and Thor growled softly.
“Omega,” Thor rumbled deeply. The vibrations swept through Steve’s body and he gasped. “Be mine, please.”
“You mean… mates?” Steve asked.
“Mates,” Thor said. “I have not spent a single moment since we met not thinking of you. All I want is you, whatever you would consent to give me.”
“Alpha,” Steve murmured. “I’ve wanted to be yours from the moment we met. Please…”
“Say it, my love,” Thor said lowly. His voice was almost a growl.
“Mate me,” Steve breathed. Thor bent down and grabbed Steve by the thighs. Steve gasped and he wrapped his legs around Thor’s body as they kissed again. He moaned and yielded to Thor’s tongue readily. Thor took him upstairs as though he’d done it a thousand times. When they arrived at Steve’s room, he laid Steve out in the center of his nest and looked down at him.
“My beautiful omega,” he purred. He bent down to kiss Steve’s throat, nipping lightly at his throat. Steve moaned as he threw his head back in submission. “Mine,” Thor murmured.
“Alpha,” Steve moaned. “Yours, make me yours, please.”
“You are certain of this?” Thor asked. “You will go into heat if we do this.”
Steve nodded. “I’ve never wanted anything more,” he said. “You?”
“My business will survive my being in rut for a few days,” Thor replied with a feral smile. “I am sure that they would be thrilled to hear that I’ve finally made the beautiful omega I’ve told them all about mine.”
Steve smiled and pulled Thor’s shirt off in a bit of a frenzy. Their clothes were tossed haphazardly across the room until they were both naked before each other, their chests pressed together. Thor laid Steve down on the bed on his stomach gently. His mouth ghosted over Steve’s mating glands.
“I have condoms,” Thor murmured. Steve shook his head.
“I want pups,” Steve said. “Want you to give me pups. Please, Alpha.”
“Hush, my love,” Thor murmured. “Once I have moved my life here permanently, I will give you as many pups as you desire. I promise.”
“Alpha,” Steve whined. Thor kissed Steve’s mouth and dipped a hand between Steve’s legs. He brushed a finger over Steve’s slick hole and Steve moaned into Thor’s mouth.
“I promise, omega,” Thor murmured. His finger pressed into Steve’s ass easily and Steve moaned as it breached him. “Tonight, I will give you everything else.”
Steve purred as Thor worked in him, brushing his callused fingers over his prostate. His other hand stroked up and down along Steve’s spine, finding the places that made Steve moan with abandon. Eventually, they found his nipples and Thor purred as Steve moaned loudly as his nipples were teased.
“My sweet omega,” Thor murmured. “So wet for me, so sensitive.”
“Alpha,” Steve gasped. Thor growled and added another finger to Steve’s ass.
“Are you close, love?” Thor asked. “Will you come for me on your Alpha’s fingers?”
“Yes, Alpha,” Steve moaned. He arched against Thor’s hard, strong body over him. Thor’s free arm wrapped around Steve’s waist and took his cock in hand. He teased his thumb over the slit as he jerked Steve’s cock with sure, practiced ease, like they’d been doing this for years instead for the first time.
“Come for me, omega,” Thor murmured. “Come for me.”
Steve whined and pushed back on Thor’s hand. His long, thick fingers reached deep inside him, stroking over Steve’s prostate. His orgasm was coming, he could feel it, built by Thor’s hand. Thor sucked a mark on Steve’s neck and Steve angled his head away to grant him better access.
“Come, my love,” Thor growled into Steve’s ear. Steve gasped as his orgasm crested like a wave and burst from his body onto the sheets beneath him. Thor rumbled in approval and fucked him through it until Steve was done.
“More, I need more, Alpha,” Steve moaned.
“Shh, I’m here,” Thor murmured. He bent down and retrieved a condom from his wallet. He tore the wrapper off and rolled it on over his hard cock. “Ready?”
“Please,” Steve said with a nod.
Thor pressed the head of his cock to Steve’s hole and pushed in. Steve gasped and moaned at the stretch. Thor was hung and thick and he filled Steve’s hole so perfectly. He slid inside Steve’s ass in one steady motion. When he was buried to the hilt inside Steve’s body he wrapped his arms around Steve’s body and held him close.
“Fuck, Thor, feel so good,” Steve moaned. Thor purred over him and kissed his hair lovingly.
“You feel incredible around me,” Thor said. “You’re so tight and hot, little omega.”
Steve moaned. “More, more of that,” he whispered.
Thor grinned against Steve’s temple. “You like being full of big Alpha dick, don’t you? You love being under a big, strong Alpha.”
Fuck, Steve thought. Thor sucked another mark onto Steve’s neck as he began to thrust into Steve’s tight heat. Steve moaned and pushed back against Thor with every thrust.
“Oh, fuck,” Steve moaned as Thor’s cock dragged directly over Steve’s prostate. “Oh, God. More, Thor, please.”
Thor growled and rose up, pinning Steve’s body to the mattress as he pulled his cock out until just the head was in.
“Mine,” he growled and slammed back into Steve’s ass. “My omega.” Slam. “Beautiful.” Slam. “Tight.” Slam. “Perfect.”
Steve preened at the praise, at his Alpha’s approval. He moaned loudly as Thor fucked him hard and deep and everything he ever wanted from every Alpha who slept with him. Thor pinned him to the mattress and growled in his ear and every omega instinct in Steve’s body screamed satisfaction and submission.
“Alpha, Alpha,” Steve gasped. “Bite me, claim me, please.”
“So good, so beautiful,” Thor groaned. “Such a perfect omega for me. I cannot wait to knot you, make you mine, fill you with pups someday.”
“Yes, yes, Alpha,” Steve moaned. Thor pulled out and flipped Steve over. Before Steve could complain about being empty, Thor pushed his cock back into Steve’s body. He bent down and kissed him. It burned with desire and hunger and Steve whined into Thor’s mouth.
He could feel Thor’s knot forming, catching on the rim of his ass. He moaned as he squeezed around it each time it entered him. It felt massive and the only thing Steve could think of was how good it would feel inside him. Thor growled as he nosed Steve’s scent gland.
“I’m close,” he groaned. He fucked Steve faster, deeper and Steve clutched Thor’s back. His nails dug grooves into his Alpha’s back and Thor growled possessively as he kept fucking. “I’m going to knot you, fill you up, omega.”
All Steve could do was moan Thor’s name over and over again until Thor groaned one last time and slammed into Steve’s ass. His knot swelled and they locked together and the next thing Steve knew, Thor’s teeth sank into the flesh of his scent glands. Steve’s blood burned like his veins were charged with lightning. His body never felt more alive. He writhed against Thor’s body, held in place with Thor’s teeth on one hand and his knot on the other.
“Omega,” Thor growled when he came off. He pulled his hair back, exposing his own scent glands. “Claim what is yours.”
Steve sank his teeth into Thor’s neck without a second thought. Thor groaned over him and it turned into a possessive, dominant growl. Steve could feel him, feel Thor in the back of his mind, feel his love and lust and happiness at being claimed by Steve. He unlatched his jaws from Thor’s neck and tucked himself against him and purred.
“Thank you,” he said. Thor rumbled in response and Steve could feel his gratitude. “I love you.”
“I love you, too, Steve,” Thor murmured.
The next moment, Steve began to feel hot and the last rational thought that passed through his mind was how much better this heat was going to be than any other he’d ever spent in his life. He felt Thor’s thoughts mirror his own right before he smelled him enter his rut.
Their cycles lasted for four days before they finally emerged. Thor, to Steve’s delight, didn’t leave, even to take care of business in Baltimore. He handled preparations to move his business to Saratoga Springs by phone. The first morning that Steve woke up in Thor’s arms without the fog of heat in his mind felt like the most amazing and wonderful thing.
The fact that it was almost Christmas was just the icing on the cake.

The Plant That Grew From the Root of All Evil |P. Parker| Part 2
Tumblr media
summary: you’re no good girl, no you’re quite the opposite, chaos itself even, yet somehow, he still affects you // in which a villan and a superhero cross paths
warnings: murder, violence, witchcraft and possesions?, cursing of curse, and torture (lowkey intense)
pairing: peter parker x villan!reader
authors note: this isnt exactly a love fic?? cause like it was more about their lives than eachother.. but idk i may change the last part and have them end up together, let me know though...
“Hey Pete, we still going to Mays for sunday dinner?” Ned asks his best friend and roommate. Peter is jolted out of his deep thoughts and research.
“Oh uh yea, text may and tell her we’ll be there in like in like 30 mins. I’ll text Tony.” He says finishing up reading the article he was on.
“What’re you working so hard on? Like we just finished midterms.” Ned walks behind peter to see what he’s reading.
“It’s just, some girl. You know Angel?”
“Angel....Oh! The badass lady villain you’ve been fighting?”
Peter gives his best friend a look of confusion.
“Uh..I mean, that bad criminal that’s wreaking havoc and that the amazing spider-man is gonna take down?” Ned corrects with a guilty smile on his face.
“Yea, well i found out she’s got, like i don’t know powers? I guess”
“What kind of powers?” Ned pulls up a chair to sit.
“I’m not sure” Peter rubs his face in thought. “Like strength and speed but it’s not like crazy noticeable. She-she-her eyes like glow? yea they glow like red and it’s creepy and I have no idea where she even came from.”
“Why don’t you ask that girl from high school? Remember everyone said she was like a pagan or something and she practiced dark magic and stuff. Maybe she knows something about it. What was her name? Something like-“
“Y/n!” Peter knows exactly who that is. She’d always been extremely quiet. She stayed in the library most days and seemed to always be studying dark magic and weird stuff like that.
How was he supposed to find you though, you’d dropped out of school 2 months before graduation. You didn’t have any friends and no one knew anything about you.
“I have no idea where she could even be” Peter says defeated.
“Oh she works part time at the library next to the little park. It’s just a train ride away. Can’t take more than 10 minutes.” Ned says moving to pull up the place on Peters laptop.
“Ned, you’re the best man in the chair a hero could ask for” Peter says winking at him, making ned swell with pride. “We can go tomorrow after classes, now come on. May and Tony are waiting”
Your day job was nothing short of fairly boring, you worked at the library near a small community college so you really only had to deal with students trying to study and little kids reading picture books. The library was fairly big so each librarian handled their own section. You handled the history and “magic/religion” section. But since that section was usually only littered with students trying to write a history paper, you stayed at the front desk on your floor.
Today, you’ve been at work since 9am and it’s already 3pm. You don’t get to leave until 8. You’re sitting at the desk, filing through the books that are recorded as late. You hear the door to your section open and you look up to greet whoever’s there.
“Hello, welcome to Green Acres, History and Magic/Religions section what can I do for you?” You speak kindly to the 2 college aged boys who walked in with their backpacks.
“Hey, this is probably super weird, but we actually wanted to talk to you” The smaller, white one speaks as he gets to the desk.
“Umm-“
“Sorry my friend Peter, made that seem really weird. I’m Ned, we went to high school with you. We just had a few questions and we figured given your occupation you’d be the best to help us” The larger one says stepping in front of “Peter”.
How’d they know you worked here, you haven’t talked to anyone from high school. Which occupation is he talking about, do they know about your secret identity. If so, how you’d been so careful.
“Okay...well what’d ya wanna know?” You relaxing into your chair a bit.
“We have questions about like powers... A friend of mine, she um, well they started behaving strangely and I was wondering if you could help figure out what was wrong?” Peter says tapping his long fingers on the desk.
“oh, sorry i’m in the magic and historical and section you’d be better off asking Mrs. Alice in the health and personal care section.” I say wondering why this boy would need my help. I’m not a doctor.
“oH! Yea I know, but my friend, we uh, we suspect that it has something to maybe do with possible magic?”
“You think you’re friend has gotten in to magic?” You raise your eyebrow.
“I know it sounds crazy but please you’re the only person i could think of to help me”
“Why because everyone at Midtown thought I was a dark and evil witch” You speak standing up from your desk and walking towards the shelves.
“No! No- I just, you used to study witchcraft and i figured since you work in the history section you could tell me if this has happened before. I didn’t mean to imply your a witch, that would be rude but I-“
“Who said they were wrong” You wink before guiding the boys towards a dimly lit section. “So, What’s happening with your friend” You say pulling out your favorite books.
“Well, she uh she’s much stronger than she was before, and she’s faster and more agile. She also has this um, this like type of glow around her? It’s like black and then her eyes glow red”
“Mhm, whole eye or just the iris?” You speak turning to one book.
“iris”
You look at the pages that detail when spells go wrong. Nothing describes the right situation. You turn to entities that may be possibly possessing the friend.
“I’m not seeing anything, wait, you said she has a glow around her kinda like an aura right?” You slam the book closed and move to this super large book about entities and witchcraft.
“Yea..”
“Holy fuck. Your friend, might just be the Grand One. The Grand One is someone chosen by the evil sprites to possess the grand power. It can be anyone, or anything at anytime for any reason. But they tend to sway towards people who have practiced and studied dark magic. If this chick gets anymore powerful, which i’m assuming she will, if you’re telling me the truth, she can wreak extreme havoc on New York. But that’s all if you believe in that mumbo jumbo anyway.” You slam the book closed and put it back on the shelf before walking away to your desk again. It was different outside, you could see through the large windows that the atmosphere had changed.
“Um. Thanks y/n, you helped out a lot” Peter and his friend Ned smiled as they left my building, whispering to each other.
You’d forgotten about the Grand One. It was simply just a dream you’d had when you were little. Telling you what would become of you. The people you would hurt and the chaos you’d reign. You thrived in chaos, reveled in it even, but it was a certain chaos. It was the frustration of everyone around you, knowing they’re just not smart enough, or strong enough not worth enough. It was the slow, dark, treaterous journey to the depths of hell that got your blood really moving.
At least, that’s how it was in the dreams. In real life, you weren’t exactly sure what was going on. You were too busy living day to day hoping that it’s all gonna be enough one day.
But what if, no, she wouldn’t have chosen you, she shouldn’t have chosen you. You weren’t meant to be the one to destroy the city. You weren’t Loki, you were just Hells Angel, low-level villanary. So why was the world trying to make you more powerful. It’s not what you wanted. But who dares be ungrateful when the gift of the Grand One is bestowed upon them, it certainly was quite a gift.
You shake your head and get back to work, waiting until it’s time to go home. When the time does come for you to go home, once again the atmosphere of the world has changed. It seems almost, sinister in a way. Like everyone knows it’s all ending tonight, they’re just not sure how or why.
You step through your house and hear thunder begin to roll outside, Shovel darts across the room and behind your legs. You weren’t expecting storms tonight, just then a strike of lightning lights up the entire room and you hear Eddie flip out upstairs.
fight
destroy
You spun your head around to see who could possibly have whispered that in your ear. You grab a knife you have and slowly inspect your room and apartment, you find nothing.
take
kill
THERE IT WAS AGAIN! A whisper, barely there but still strong enough to have you almost trembling in fear.
y/n
“who are you? what do you want” You felt so cheesy yelling those cliche lines.
you
Suddenly, you’re pushed down to your knees, when you look up you see her. She looks just like the picture in the old book you’d shown Peter and Ned just hours before. Her old face clouded in a dark fog like aura. Her eyes were red and empty, her long boney finger reached for you.
i have traveled years
to show you your destiny
my fate is now yours
Was this bitch really speaking in haikus right now? And what was she talking about? She continued to repeat her haiku from hell and seemed to get closer to you.
“If you’re the Grand One, does that mean i’m the one who you’re gonna possess?” You ask at her. She doesn’t answer just gets louder and closer.
You get a splitting pain in your head, it feels like someone is driving a knife between your cranium. You scream out and cover your ears as the witch gets louder and louder.
Then everything is silent, the witch is gone and so is the pain in your head. You look around and you feel normal. You sit on your bed in shock.
Was she in you now? Were you possessed? What would happen now?
you’ve always been possessed
i’ve been here for some time now
you recognize that voice! That’s Hells Angel, her voice drops am octave lower than yours and she speaks slowly but more confident. You’re going crazy.
You hear a knock on your door.
“Y/n? Are you okay? It’s Eddie, We-uh- I heard you screaming”
You stumble to the door and rip it open trying to fix your hair.
“Eddie, hey. Yea i’m fine. Just got a little frustrated with um, the TV. You know how Family Fued can get” You out on your best fake smile and lean against the door frame. Trying not to let Shovel out. “Are you okay? I know you don’t like storms and that lighting was weird” You speak trying to change the subject.
“Oh yea, just uh, caught us, me. It caught me off guard. Well, just wanted to check on you. So uh, goodnight y/n. Let me know if you need anything” He bods before sticking his hands in his hoodie pockets and walking up the stairs at the end of the hall.
You shut the door and walk back to your bed, ready to just go to sleep. You settle in and close your eyes almost asleep.
tonight’s the night

Infanticide, Lies, & Judgment
Genesis 18.20-21
Then the LORD said, 'Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me. And if not, I will know.'
Some versions translate the phrase 'against Sodom and Gomorrah' as 'of Sodom and Gomorrah'.  I checked the interlinear, I found that there is no preposition in the original Hebrew; it is assumed.
At any rate, I have wondered what was the source of that outcry.  Have you ever wondered? Some say the outcry came from Lot, but I find that doubtful.  Lot had moved into the city of Sodom and had arranged marriages of his daughters to men of Sodom, so he was hardly in a position to protest.
And, of course, the Lord did not need to visit the city to know whether the outcry was warranted; He is omniscient.
Sodom, Gomorrah, and the cities of the plain were destroyed because of their egregious sin. Some years ago, evangelist Billy Graham said his wife Ruth was looking over the draft of a book he was writing about the downward spiral of America's moral standards and observed sadly, 'If God doesn't punish America, He'll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.'
Since Ruth Graham made that observation, the morality of America has fallen so much that there are no longer any standards.  There are only lies, double-speak, and delusions.
I know that not all of you are Americans.  The situation in your own nation may be better or worse than it is here.  But bear with me while I address the very basic issues of abortion and infanticide.
Many of you know the Ten Commandments.  This is the one we will be discussing today.
You shall not murder.  —Exodus 20.13 (NASB)
As you may know, the New York state legislature recently enacted legislation legalizing abortion up to the time of birth and withdrawing protection for babies who, despite all attempts to kill them, survive abortion and are born alive.  The legislators honored the passage of this bill with a standing ovation and Governor Cuomo celebrated by lighting New York landmarks, including the Freedom Tower, in pink lights.  Vermont and Virginia are eager to join the slaughter of the innocents with the passage of their own legislation.
Democrats no longer bother to try to camouflage this deliberate infanticide by couching it in terms of 'women's rights' and 'women's health'.  As you can see by the photo below, the aborted babies are not mere 'blobs of tissue' and this has nothing whatsoever to do with either 'rights' or 'health'; this is about murder, plain and simple.
Tumblr media
Yes, those are children in that trash can.  It grieves me to look at such atrocities.  And as 18th century British politician and anti-slavery activist, William Wilberforce, so eloquently phrased it, 'You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know.'
That denial didn't work for the Germans after World War II; it won't work for you now.
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are not created to be tossed in the trash like so much garbage.
Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.  How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. —Psalm 127.3-5 (NASB)
David acknowledged that God formed him in the womb.
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  —Psalm 139.13-14 (NASB)
An unborn child acknowledged the incarnate Lord.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.  —Luke 1.41 (NASB)
The ancient Canaanites and Ammonites sacrificed their children to the pagan god Moloch; we sacrifice ours to pride, convenience, and selfishness.
Over 50 million children have been murdered under the guise of 'women's health care', over a generation lost.  Imagine the potential destroyed!  How much blessing has been burned in the furnace and thrown on the trash heap!
I don't know who raised the cry against Sodom, but I know who's raising the outcry against this nation: 50 million murdered children!
Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers and the author of the Declaration of Independence, said, 'Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever.'
Do you think God will simply overlook such an atrocity?  Do we expect that the God who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their blatant sin will turn a blind eye to our own?  No, judgment will come.  A just God can do no less.
