It just reminded me of the Han brothers, and how HYH sees himself as a monster, the first image could relate to him pre-awakening, forced to rein in those S-Class instincts he was born with

The second could depict pre-regression HYH, both as the wolf and the hands, putting on a muzzle, akin to him depriving himself of what he wanted the most (HYJ) so as not to cause harm (to them)

And the third is a bad end hyh, in which he was not able to help himself, and selfishly devoured the lamb. The lamb, who in this case is HYJ, looks caged, weary and resigned..

multiple POVs with no names for chapter titles so you have to figure out who it is from context clues - if you're like me and love a little puzzle to go with your reading time, you'll really enjoy it (Novik does it VERY well) but if you get confused easily or don't wanna put in the brainpower its annoying and overly complicated

if you don't like enemies-to-lovers where they actually argue and are ideologically opposed, you're not gonna enjoy the romance subplots. this is not a 'forbidden-lovers' kinda enemies-to-lovers. this is firmly in the 'my husband misses me a lot - but his aim is getting better!' zone

really quick wrap up - it gets tied up a little too fast after the final confrontation with the Big Bad. i wouldve liked at least to have irina POV at the end because her side of things just. gets left hanging

Summary: Miryem is a daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, and though her father doesn't have the hardheartedness to be a good one, she'd rather be despised for what she's owed than starve. Her knack for the trade, coupled with her sharp tongue, draws the ire of her village, and even more alarmingly, the Staryk's attentions; faerie creatures who only covet gold, they take her offhanded boast that she can turn silver into gold quite literally, and show up at her door to hold her true to her careless words - which, honestly, kind of backfires on them when she rises to the challenge and upends their realm into complete disarray, so maybe there's a lesson there for the next group of nonhumans to learn: don't bet the house against a human girl whose Had Enough Of All This Bullshit. She might win.

Concept: 💭💭💭 I don't know Rumpelstiltskin's story very well, and Ice Kingdom aesthetics aren't my favourite (you can blame it on my residual dislike of Frozen), but I DID read Uprooted before this. I wasn't as into the book blurb as I was with Uprooted, but I'm an experienced (and opinionated) enough reader to know when to trust my gut - if I find an author's writing style easy to read, and I enjoy how they handle their themes, I'm not afraid of diving into deep waters. If it's that bad, I can always DNF

Execution: 💥💥💥💥 As I've come to expect with Novik's writing, a wonderfully easy read; the storytelling voice flows smoothly and makes me want to keep on reading. No slogging through difficult to understand passages and too slow pacing for me! I instantly wanted to collect every POV character like puppies in a basket, no matter how brief their sections were. I will say the ending does forget what it wants to say and simply ends on a happy note, instead of a complete thought. It doesn't tie in the POV characters together strongly enough - I would've loved to see an epilogue scenes with the 3 main female characters supporting each other, or at least being three distinct Bad Bitches!

Personal Enjoyment: ❤❤❤❤❤ Mostly because of Irina and Miryem (and Wanda)'s absolute BDE. They truly brought their stories to life and felt very dynamic, constantly driving the story forward through their actions, especially because their personalities and characteristics were so well-suited to the challenges they faced (Miryem rules-lawyering the Staryk, Irina taking to politics, Wanda keeping faith despite all the shit she's been through). Honorary shoutout to the complete hilarity of Mirnatius's POV (though ultimately it IS more indulgence than necessity, I respect Novik for it) - may he spend the rest of his life desperately drawing his wife in vain search of her bad angles!

Favourite Moment: the running gag of mirnatius losing his fucking mind trying to prove irina isn't hot. you know that post that's like 'find a blorbo to draw and your art skills will start improving so much faster'? irina is his blorbo. special mention of the scene he gets jealous realizing a random guard has a crush on his behated wife and immediately jumps to the conclusion that irina would want to fuck the guard for the sake of the kingdom. babygirl the hoops you are jumping........where is this gymnastics routine even going 😭 this man is not beating the meow meow allegations..

Favourite Character: It's really a tie between Miryem and Irina, who are both so similar yet different at the same time. Miryem's BDE was enjoyably explosive - she throws it in everyone's face, which is perfect to play off of the Staryk's otherworldly impassiveness. Irina's BDE was a lot more...steely. Quietly coming into her own as she realized how adept she was at politics, and how perfectly well-suited that made her to being tsarina - and when they finally met each other? it was so funny when were like 'hey...why dont we kill our husbands via pokemon battle??'

Do people even like to read my thoughts on future dogs?

I got to hold shelties for breeders at the show this last weekend and the breeder I met the other month was there to introduce me to a few people. She got busy helping with dogs after awhile, so that didn't last super long, but at least it's a start. I also was able to tell people I'd been to the fb video call meeting for the sheltie club this week and some people remembered because I have the profile picture that is Not A Sheltie.

So I'm slowly getting out there. I have one more meeting before I can submit my application, then they do a home check (to make sure I'm not a hoarder, lol). They're starting to offer agility trials again, so I'm going to try to at least volunteer, if not get Mud fit enough to run. (Depending on his health.)

Anyway, yesterday had me pining for another sheltie. The more I connect and research, it seems like the area has a surplus of shelties. I shouldn't have a problem getting a puppy after getting on a list or getting a young adult that didn't work out for show. I've gotten the impression it could take years to build relationships and get a dog. Not so sure about that now.

That said, I'm hoping to get to know dogs and breeders better, so I can get paired with the right dog. I saw dogs with personalities I liked this weekend and others that looked worried just walking into the building. I need to get to more shows just to watch.

All this to say that I'm considering releasing my hold on the rescue mini aussie mix and just waiting for a sheltie. My current situation will put me back up to 3 dogs again if I get another dog, when I only wanted 2, so I had the option to get a 3rd down the line. The gap between next dog and next next dog will need to be bigger than I was thinking it might be earlier this year because I can't do 4 dogs. I had been thinking I'd get the rescue "now", and in fewer years than I tend to wait (basically less than 7 yrs), get another dog, likely a sheltie, though possibly a whippet. That order would depend on how agility apt the rescue was. (If rescue was good/stayed sound lmfao, would consider a whippet after that dog since agility feels like less of a sure shot than a sheltie.)

Now that I can only get one more dog until Mud and/or Anza passes away, I think I need to be more picky. :( Mud's mom is pushing 14, so barring any serious health issues, Mud has potential to reach 14. That means I could be waiting 7 years again, if I get another dog next year. And ngl, I have considered blowing it all off until Mud and Anza are decrepit because they're like...a single unit. They are simultaneously easy (they get along well) and difficult because their brain function drops by half when they are together. It's ridiculous.

I'm not going to make a decision quite yet. It sounds like the training videos the rescue is being feature in might be coming out soon, so I'd like to see those before I decline. She may be flipping amazing and I decide to blow off the sheltie.

Another factor is money. I need to replenish my savings that have been depleted over 18 months of being unemployed with minimal art income. I feel like I'd be better off taking a year or so to do that vs taking on a dog at the beginning of the year. (Rescue offered to hold dog as long as needed, which includes years, but I don't want to do that.)

Suegiku fic that’s just Tetchou helping Jouno open up and accept his own emotions, since Jouno has kinda perfected the whole ‘bury your emotions so deep that you can’t even feel them anymore’ thing due to his time in the mafia. Ofc we all know Jouno has no problem expressing stuff like anger, bitterness, disgust… basically all those negative ones used mostly in a comical manner for his character. It’s rly just his sadness that he’s tries to disown as he’s already deemed it as a ‘weak’ emotion that doesn’t do anything except make ppl pity and underestimate him, which needless to say, he HATES more than anything. So yeah, Tetchou would help him realize that feelings of sadness are completely valid and that he deserves to express those emotions instead of bottling them up. (Ngl Tetchou would honestly still be kinda learning this alongside Jouno because he’s probably so used to his stoicism-like mindset.)

‘Your Tears are Priceless’ would be a good title, i think; in reference to his ‘Priceless Tears’ ability.

This has dark shading on the entire thing but no light shading…also this is more to be symbolic than actually drawing a specific scene so I hope its not too spoiler-y to anyone who hasn’t read chapter 17…though it is based off a scene in the chapter so😭

Each thing(other than the flower) symbolizes a character! the plushies are meant to resemble Elise and the ring Ango.

Can you tell I never draw flowers😭, they are supposed to be purple hyacinths due to what they mean but also i have zero knowledge on flower language so if i got it wrong blame Google

Anyway-

Every saint Patrick's Day Chuuya would sit on a roof of the same abandoned warehouse with a bottle of wine and a bottle of whisky, a pack of cigarettes with a lighter waiting for Dazai.

As he waits he would look at the sky as the sunsets on the horizon and light a cigarette.

He would no touch the bottle of wine until Dazai got there.

But this time something's off...

Something was wrong

He couldn't identify what it was

Until... The sun was fully set the sky with the prettiest stars in the sky is when he realizes

Dazai isn't coming not this year

So he opens his bottle of wine throws the bottle of whisky down and chugs the wine.

He goes home alone.

He waits for next year but that year never came

Chuuya just betrayed the Port Mafia. He doesn’t know what he was thinking beyond the fact that he wasn’t. He couldn’t think a single rational thought stronger than the pull of Dazai’s devastated eyes, of the revelation of being able to see both of them and the hurt he saw in them, deep and raw and inescapable and the burning urge to make it better. If Dazai was leaving, then Chuuya was leaving with him. It wasn’t a decision as much as it simply was. Chuuya would follow him anywhere, so he did. And now he’s here.

Or, the aftermath of Dazai and Chuuya's defection, told through the four seasons of the year, grieving, healing, and the hesitant steps of falling in love.
