I was talking with @/artsarasp about it a couple days ago but I just keep thinking about how Yue Qingyuan finding out that he's pregnant after either having a one time heat of the moment fling with Shen Jiu (he can never think fo Shen Jiu as a fling, it was everything to him) OR he's pregnant from some plant that involved both of there DNA. I like the idea they had a heated moment because already with that Yue Qingyuan would be riddled with guilt about how much he misses Shen Jiu, How he's always wanted to be close to him like that and how he can't ever get that again and how he failed him so he should've never been able to have something like that even for a moment how dare he, How dare he even think of wanting an OUNCE of anything from Shen Jiu after leaving him

And then he's pregnant. He's witn Mu Qingfang. He promises not to say anything to anyone especially because it can put the Sect Master at risk. Especially when he can see how Yue Qingyuan goes white as a sheet after telling him the news.

Yue Qingyuan would be silent. Thinking. He can't tell him. He's already taken so much from him, he's already abandoned him, he's already hurt him so much what would he think of this? He'd never speak to him again, he can handle yelling, the comments, the glare but if he was to never see Shen Jiu again he'd be nothing. He doesn't want to get rid of it the fact he has something of his and his Xiao Jiu he selfishly wants this baby as proof that they were something once, for a time. For a moment. It's not the right reasons to have a child by far and he knows it but he refuses to do anything to stop it.

Mu Qingfang would tell him what he needs and what to do and how they'd try to keep it a secret from everyone but Yue Qingyuan is half listening he has to think of how to hide this from everyone for life.

I keep also thinking about after he has the baby. Successfully without Shen Jiu knowing, except his baby has those eyes, those beautifully sharp eyes that he's used to looking at him with contempt. But on his baby they're wide with curiosity and grabbing at him with such a tenderness its making him want to scream.

Ah but I'm a softie and I physically cannot let a bad ending happen so I feel like of course Shen Jiu would find out. I'm not sure how but he does and it's more gut wrenching than Yue Qingyuan can imagine because he think he hid his own son away from him because he doesn't trust him or that he hates him so much he can't even allow a vulnerability like this. I'm sorry i don't know how but AFTER HARDSHIP AND PAIN AND TIME THEY ARE A HAPPY FAMILY YAY!!!!!

Could you please (if you haven’t before) do pics of what each of your vintage pen nibs’ writing style look like, if they are different widths/create unique lines?

Oh absolutely!! I've been looking for an excuse to do this for ages. Their writing styles are as varied and unique as their shapes.

Here they are on Midori MD paper written with Rohrer & Klingner's Iron gall Salix ink. I photoshopped the pen nibs next to each writing sample so it's easy to tell what's what.

Now you can't tell from the writing sample, but two of these nibs have ball pointed tips! This is a feature you'll find on fountain pen nibs, but seems to have disappeared from modern dip pen nibs. Instead of coming to a sharp point, a ball pointed nib has a little round nubbin on the end that is much smoother to write with.

Because of this, the Perry & Co Glideaway and the R. Esterbrook & Co Oval Point are extra nice to write with! Though ball pointed nibs do come at the price of flexibility.

Sorry I haven't been answering asks in a while. I've been very busy lately. Especially preparing for the big announcement on the 10th of October.

I was looking at the line work you do and was wondering: do you ink it physically and then scan it, or is it fully digital? It's really good and gives a solid grit to it and adds texture to your works. How do you do that?

99% of what I post here is all digital because I don’t really have access to a scanner very often! my inking style looks the way it does because I draw traditionally in my sketchbooks a LOT and the way I ink digitally is Exactly The Same as I do traditionally (which is why you see a lot of double lines in my inking, stray lines, or scribbling when I fill in solid blacks without the fill tool, I also always turn off any stabilization features a brush might have bc I don’t like the way it feels) and I often go looking for brushes that are gritty or crunchy so that it looks similar to the pens I use on paper!

You can see a bunch of the stray lines and general scribbling I did here, which is exactly what my irl sketchbooks look like, and the circled brushes (I edited these after I downloaded them all to have 0 stabilization) are the ones I used for it!

i saw our birdlady on my feed and was compelled to share an update, so i got my wife to get pictures of her, where she is currently serving as high priestess to the eldritch god in our living room

we were so lucky to get her and she brings us joy every day, thank you so much! would love to see more birdladies in the future if that is ever in the cards <3

ok controversial(ish) vintage fountain pen: I like Wearever pens

If you don't know, Wearever was a fountain pen brand who made a ton of cheap third tier pens.

But they made a ton of pens that highly vary in quality. The most common and shittiest pen they had was the Pioneer. Plastic pieces of shit, they made millions and sold them for basically pennies. They're practically considered disposable, even though they are either lever fill or cartridge fill. You will find them everywhere, warped and distorted and cracked. They are the go to when you are learning how to restore fountain pens because it doesn't matter if you break it. You can find another one and try again.

Right now I have a Pennant in gray, but it looks grey-green to me. It's practically mint, just a couple scratches from storage and very light use. Only problem is that it's been gutted, no sac or pressure bar, but hopefully that should be fixed soon. What it can do is show off the feed

It's see-through! That's neat! I like it! I am a simple person who like simple things like unique feeds! They are called c-flow feeds, because you can see the flow. That's kinda silly but it's cute and I like it

There is still is dried ink stuck in it, I usually only use water when I clean pens but I might have to get some specialized cleaner. And I know its a gimmick to up sales, it doesn't really do anything, but dammit I think it's neat

What I really want to get one day is one of their early pens, a De Luxe or a Zenith

There sadly isn't too much info about the early days of the brand, or at least compared to more popular brands. I'd love to find out more but I have no idea how to go about researching that. But I do want to get one with a gold nib, and tbh it isn't too hard, I just... want that gold nib and reinforcement. I use to have one while not realizing what it was, and now its gone. So I'm back to hunting for a new one. And honestly I'm not hunting too hard, but if I run across another, I'm snatching that shit up.

ohuhu markers are really really good; ive had a set for years and they’re really nice. they really give copic markers a run for their money and I’d say they’re equally good tbh. I recommend getting the ones with the brush tip and chisel tip and not the one with the bullet and chisel tip bc the brush tips are really nice for coloring 👍

That seems to be the main consensus, which I figured was the case but it’s nice having some people back it up. I used to watch DrawingwithWaffles on YouTube and she said the same thing. Honestly, I’d like to invest in Ohuhu markers, especially since they’re WAAAYYYY cheaper than Copic markers
