i understand you so deeply…i went into hsr recently and was fully intending to fall for Dan Heng and i do LOVE him but i really just fell face first into the trenches for sampo instead…there’s just something about him
EXACTLY. THATS EXACTLY IT. LIKE. I'm pretty sure I'm going to love these other clowns too, and I already love so many characters in the cast. BUT SAMPO. JUST. IDK. HE MADE ME LAUGH AND THEN I THOUGHT IT WAS GENUINELY KINDA SWEET OF HIM THAT HE SAVED US FROM BRONYA??? That sorta. Thief with a heart of gold... Not really a Tsundere, but just, just teetering on the edge of something that is Tsundere flavored... He's not QUITE a himbo but he gets close xD He's a little too smart and a little too morally questionable to comply, but some of the energy is there and I'm genuinely delighted when I see him HAHAHAHA.
Also his ENG VA has no right being that cracked what on EARTH
BUT YES SDFLJSDFLKSD SHAKING UR HAND SO MUCH... HE IS SUCH A MAN. WHAT A LAD. WHAT A GUY. 🤝

Do you have any favorite comments you've gotten on your fics? Or do you like them all the same? I'm asking because I'm curious.
hi curious anon -- thanks for asking! you must be new(ish) to me -- I don't believe in favorites. when I was a teacher my students would hate that I never gave a straightforward answer to 'favorite' questions, but I'll stick to my argument every time. no matter the subject -- ice cream, places, people, animals, comments -- each offers something wonderful in their own right. I might order chocolate ice cream some days, but damn, on others, something tart and tangy sounds way better. I might appreciate the humor of one student, but appreciate another's ability to turn in work on time, and another's perpetual kindness toward classmates.
So, that being said: I love and appreciate every single comment that people leave me.
I love simple, quick comments: '<3' or 'great update!' or 'love this!' because even though a reader was in a rush, or didn't feel comfortable leaving something longer, they still took an extra second or two to let me know they liked what I've shared. those wonderful, wonderful humans.
I love comments with quotes from the fic: these show that something I wrote managed to resonate with a person enough for them to hold on to the quote. It made them stop and laugh, or think, or go aww, or maybe it made them come back to that line just to tell me they liked it. so crazy! so wonderful!
I love comments with analysis: whether it's something I intended to include or not, when people analyze my writing, it shows that I've created something worth engaging with, that's made people think deeper, or has reminded them of something outside the fic, and like, dude, that's so frickin' cool.
I love comments with emotions and reactions: 'omg my HEART' 'lolllll I laughed so hard I scared my cat' 'ahhhh this cliffhanger!!!' -- i always hope to evoke emotions in readers, so comments that confirm that I've managed to do that mean so much!
I love comments with predictions: 'i hope [xyz] happens' 'omg are they gonna finally meet next chapter?' 'I think [character] knows more than she's letting on...' woah, not only did I write something you want to read, but you like it enough that your mind starts telling the story on its own? these comments show that a reader has sunk into the world I created, deep enough that the world has taken on its own life for them, and how cool is that?
I've had comments that make me laugh out loud, or grin so hard it hurts, or run into another room to tell my partner that someone just made my day. I've had comments that make me feel connected to people, that make me feel grateful, that motivate me to write something new. I've had repeat commenters who I recognize by name and who bring me joy with every update. I've had teeny, single emoji comments after weeks of no engagement that mean more in that moment than a paragraph comment on a brand new fic.
engagement keeps communities alive. comments remind me that it's not an empty void I'm launching little bits of my heart into; there are real, live people on the other end. I'm bringing them humor or entertainment for an hour or two, just by doing something i love and sharing it with the world.
so...no, no favorite comments, if only because every single one is absolutely wonderful.

crash landing is like if project ozone skipped straight to being only about crafting by like ep5 and also you constantly had to watch etho almost sweat to death ten times an episode. it's really distracting because of the particles

I don't think people should be allowed to write about people having sex in scifi or fantasy unless they get 10 other people to review what they've written and confirmed that it is in fact consensual sex and that no one is being drugged into it with SciFi™ or Magical™ means that the original author just thinks is hot without considering that it's literally fucking rape because one or more parties is literally not consenting.
This applies to many things. Off the top of my head, The Dragonriders of Pern, Doctor Who/Torchwood, Harry Potter...and so many fucking more.
If one or more parties would literally not be participating if not for the use of dragon/alien pheromones, a love potion, or mind control, guess what, that's not sex, that's fucking rape! You've invented SciFi or Fantasy fucking roofies!! Congratulations, your prize is everyone hating you when you portray this as romantic and sexy and totally normal and fine!!!!
Learn what consent is, motherfuckers! Or all your favorite characters you want the audience to like will literally canonically be rapists!
