Alec's Visit (2)- Ninjago OC
Tumblr media
Everyone were at the table, already done with food and, as a treat, got to drink some wine. Kai and Alec were sitting in front of each other, Jay being beside Alec and sitting across from Niel. Nya and Lloyd were across of Cole, playfully chatting while the Master of Earth was busy consuming more of Zane's cooking. Master Wu was in the far corner of the table, peacefully drinking his hot tea and relaxing amongst the ruckuss. Jay had his eyes on Alec as he asked him, "So where were you while Niel joined the team?" Alec leaned back in his seat before finishing his wine in one gulp. He hunched over the table and held himself up with his elbow, "Well, I'm currently studying for a master's degree on Ninjago History and for that, I have to travel a lot. This year was about Shintaro. I had to trek up the mountain and stay there for my research paper," Cole turned his head towards Alec when he heard Shintaro being mentioned, "Hey! I'm actually friends with Princess Vania. You could've called me instead of putting yourself in danger with those bat monsters," Alec smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I would've asked if I had known Niel was a part of the team." Alec sighed as he felt this sinking feeling in his stomach. The chattering of the others muffled as the feeling grew stronger. He almost felt bad about not being for Niel while he was under control of the Crystal King, not being there for his training, not being there treating his wounds after battles. He snapped back to reality when Zane came by with more wine. Kai and Niel cheered like crazy getting their hands on my alcohol. Alec drank some more and shrugged off the feeling and enjoyed his night.
/////
"And then he did what!?" Jay jumped up in excitement, hearing more about Alec's story, "He jumped in for it. Head first!" Kai scoffed out and ruffling up Niel's hair in mockery, "Hah! You value that figure more than your dignity?" Niel removed his hand and seldomly explained himself, "It wasn't just a figurine, it was my wife! I loved that Hatsune Miku figurine than my own Yin!" Alec had a forced frown and puppy eyes on his face finding out about his position in Niel's heart, "You wouldn't save me if I was hurled into a dumpster?" The cyan ninja smirked, "No, because I'd be the one who threw you in the first place." Jay giggled at his diss before leaning in closer to Alec, "C'mon, hit him back! Take revenge! Any more embarrassing stories we should know about?" Alec searched his chin before his eyes lit and he had an evil smile on his face, "I'm gonna tell you about the time I made Niel do the chicken dance in public," Niel dunked his head straight on to the table and crossed his arms to cover his face in shame before screaming into his arms, "First Spinjitsu Master, please kill me already!" Alec gulped some more of his wine before telling his story, "So, we were at this chicken fast food place and Niel wanted me to pay the food but he had to do something for me in a return. I told him to do the chicken dance on the table for everyone to see or else, he'd have to buy two more meals." Kai was already giggling, imagining Niel in a chicken costume, "And so he did just that, making chicken noises in the process. I even have a video!" Alec took out his phone before parading this embarrassing tape of Niel on the table, dancing while people watched. Kai laughed so hard he punched the table and almost fell backwards while Jay was barely able to hold himself together.
After a few minutes, Zane and Wu announced that it was bed time and everyone needs to get to bed. Kai and Niel stayed behind with Zane to help clean up while everyone else left. The two of them joked around while putting away plates when Kai brought up a hang out plan, "Hey, what about having dinner tomorrow at that fancy steak place? You know, by that arcade?" Niel hummed and shrugged, "Sounds cool! I haven't had a nice dinner in a while!" Alec was standing by the kitchen, behind a wall and heard Kai trying to invite his Yang to a "hangout" and he couldn't believe Niel would accept the invite. He left quickly as he heard the two step closer to where he was. Alec ran off to their room and closed the sliding door. The feeling in his stomach made him feel so heavy, the feeling of guilt was choking him. The sliding door opened behind him as Neil entered their room and greeted Alec who was getting changed to his pajamas. He stayed silent before looking back and smiling at him. Neil walked over and hugged him from behind, "It's been awhile. I've actually missed you so much," Alec sighed as he felt comfort in the hug. He turned around and returned the love with a tighter hug. The two just stayed there before they pulled apart slightly and just stared at each other, their faces getting closer for a kiss when they were startled by Cole in the doorway, "Hey, Niel! You left your--" he stopped midway into his words and immediately closed his eyes and turned around to leave, apologizing loudly as he zipped off and disappeared into his own room. The two just laughed at his antics before Niel seperated to change himself. Moments later, the two were huddled against each other and relaxing and wouldn't realize that they had already fallen asleep.
/////
"Niel! Wake up!" Niel was woken up by Nya shaking his shoulders. He rubbed his eyes before sitting up and stretching and realized that Nya was in her gi. Niel quickly and quietly dressed up in his gi and ran off. The two ninja walked down to the secret base and greeted the others who were in front of the monitor. Zane waved at them as Niel asked out, "What's going on?" Lloyd held his eyes on the monitor and explained the situation, "There is this gang of thugs who're breaking into the bank. This has been happening for the fifth time this week so now we're taking charge and investigating the vaults." He turned around and pointed at Kai, "Kai, can you uhh..." He looked over to everyone else to pair him up with the fire ninja before deciding, "Niel and Jay take care of the thugs?" Kai nodded before wrapping his arms over Jay and Niel's shoulders. "Zane and Nya, investigate the other vaults for more activities. Cole and I can patrol outside the building to look for where they came from." Everyone had their hands in a circle before cheering together, "Ninja... GO!"

Tumblr media
Alec woke up to see the side of the bed where Niel would be was empty. He sighed as he sat up to try and look for him. Alec was about to step on the floor before he noticed something on the bedside table. A note: "Hey, GingerAle. I'm off on a mission, a break-in at the bank ;) I'll spare you the details in the morning. Sleep tight! ♡" Alec almost growled in frustration before plopping back down on his bed and trying his best to fall back asleep. The silence didn't help and instead, he started talking to himself in his head. That pit in his stomach came back. The heavy feeling of guilt became unbearable. The thoughts were clouding his mind and he just needed some fresh air but opening the window didn't suffice. He sat up and stared at the wall before getting himself on the floor to get a drink. He just walked through the dark hallways until he come across to a place with any sort of light. Soon enough, he found himself at the porch of the monastery under the shining bright moonlight. He huffed out, his warm breath turning to fog in the cold air. Alec sat himself down at the stairs as he just thought in silence. He stayed there for half an hour, completely alone before he heard footsteps behind him. He slowly turned around to see Master Wu walking towards him, teapot and two cups in hand. Wu settled them down beside him and greeted him, "Hello, Alec." Alec smiled at him before replying, "Hello, Sensei." Wu just stood by him as he stared at the moon before his poke again, "Why are you here so late?" Alec sighed, "I was... A lot of things were in my mind so I just need some fresh air," Sensei Wu hummed as he sat down next to him with his legs crossed. He poured him some tea before offering a cup to Alec, "Tea?" The boy smiled as he nodded and grabbed the cup in hand, Sensei Wu pouring some for him, "Thank you, Sensei..."
Tumblr media
Alec sat with Master Wu for a while before Wu asked out, "You look upset. Are you alright?" Alec looked at him, trying to force a smile before seeing Master Wu's concerned face. Alec sighed before placing his face in his hands, "I... Want to become a ninja." Master Wu tilted his head, "Hmm, why?" Alec stuttered out his words before huffing again and letting heart speak, "I-I... I was never there for him. I was away from him for so long that now he's choosing Kai over me. He looks just like me, acts like and dresses up like me. He was there for him to treat his wounds, to comfort him while he was sad, to have fun with him while he was bored," he paused, taking a deep breath, "Maybe, just maybe, if I became a ninja like him, I could always be there for him. I would be there to protect him, take care of his wounds a-and..." He felt his face go hot before he felt tears coming out his eyes. He breathed out a shaky breath before wiping his tears away and drinking more of the tea. Master Wu placed his hand on his back to comfort before speaking out, "You have a good heart, strong-willed and protective. Niel sees something inside of you to want to wait for you. You had been gone but you were still in his heart, he deeply cares for you and you do aswell," Alec looked down, listening to the wisdom of the old master, "You may choose to be a ninja, you may want to go through the rigorous training, maintaining and responsibilities of a ninja but that may not be the answer to resolve your problems but the only thing that will help you, is enjoy the current time you have with him to catch up with what you missed and build upon today for the future." Alec picked up his tea again and finished it in a single gulp. Wu removed his hand before pouring him another cup, "But, if you wish to become a ninja, you may not be ready in your current situation. Maybe, one day, you will become a great warrior." Alec looked up to him, "But will you be here?" Master Wu chuckled before standing up, "Most likely not. But, the person most significant to you, may be your best teacher. As iron sharpens iron, brother sharpens brother." Alec mumbled out, "Lover sharpens lover." Master Wu smiled before saying, "You are learning quickly. You will be a great ninja." And with that, he left into the darkness. Alec walked back to his room, the words of wisdom lifted the heavy feeling from his shoulders. Alec was confident on what he wanted to do next and he went to bed, feeling relaxed and grateful for his words.

asking genuinely, could you explain the post about Faulkner being like Octavia Butler but wanting to be like Toni Morrison?
I assume that part of the joke is about how Butler is a truly fantastic writer but also had like, very obvious, uh, fetishes, which recur in her work, but I've never read Faulkner so maybe that's not the right inference?
People get too caught up on Butler and bug sex imo. She is a master at using the strange and fantastic to reflect upon the ordinary and intimate.
Faulkner wanted to be Shakespeare but he ended up with something a closer to Samuel Clements. His writing absolutely fucking nails this perfect balance between the folksy and the gothic, he understands The American South as a character like no other author. His work, -like Octavia Butler's work- is simultaneously larger-than-life, and grounded in the intimacies of reality.
Love her or hate her, when it comes to the craft of writing a mother fucking novel, Toni Morrison is a Shakespeare-level writer. Her sheer control of the English language borders on the tyrannical. She understands the American South as both moment in history and an experience. Her work is impeccable and uncompromising, built on seething disillusionment, and genuine-if-complicated love, and a frankly inhuman level of practice with the written word.
Thing is, Faulkner is the exact sort of person who would look down on Butler as a "genre writer." The man accepted an award for The Sound and the Fury, and called it his "greatest failure." Like oh no you wrote a seminal piece of American literature, but its only top 30 when you wanted it to be top 5. What a fucking tragedy. You're in the same literary tier as Niel Stephenson, Octavia Butler, and Terry Pratchett, how fucking sad for you.

What’s that elephant the Danes are wearing?
Tumblr media
Tatler’s guide to the emblems and quirks of Denmark’s highest honour, the Order of the Elephant.
A curious little diamond-encrusted elephant, a blue sash, a gold collar – and sometimes a big flaming cape…Tatler looks into the history and tradition of Denmark's most privileged Order.
With Frederik X set to become sovereign of the Order as he becomes King on Sunday, you might see a few of these elephants around Copenhagen's royal palaces
By Isaac Zamet
12 January 2024
When Crown Prince Frederik becomes Frederik X of Denmark on Sunday, he will also replace his mother, Queen Margrethe II, as the sovereign of Denmark’s most ancient and distinguished order of chivalry, the Order of the Elephant.
Though it was officially refounded in 1693, the order dates all the way back to the 1400s, when it was established as a religious confraternity by a group of about fifty Danish knights.
In the 1400s, prior to the Reformation which gripped Europe and divided the church, such religious ‘clubs’ as the Order of the Elephant were common features of aristocratic life.
At the time of the Order of the Elephant's birth, Christian I was King of Denmark – and in fact, Norway and Sweden too, creating a personal union known as the Kalmar Union.
During this period, the emblem of the club was an image of the Virgin Mary holding her Son within a crescent moon.
This was hung from a collar formed of links in the shape of elephants.
The confraternity mutated over the centuries but endured a stifled period after the Reformation in which such clubs became suspect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 1580, Frederik II – eight Frederiks prior to our current Frederik – revived the order and replaced the medallion of the mother and child with an elephant (a Reformation-safe, Protestant approach – if a quirky one!).
But it was Christian V, in 1693, who gave the club its official statues and founding order.
At this time, it was scheduled as comprising 30 noble knights and one Grand Master (the King) along with his sons.
It was only in 1958 that the statutes were amended by Royal Ordinance to allow the ennoblement of women as members of the order.
Between 1580 and today, around 890 persons have been bestowed with the Order of the Elephant; with Queen Margrethe adding 68 people during her 40 year reign.
The recipients are almost always royal persons and foreign heads of state – though in a rare exception, the order was given to a commoner in 2000.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was the deceased shipping magnate, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, who was recognised for exceptional contribution to Danish economic strength and Danish society.
Those unfamiliar with the man himself will surely recognise his name from the famous shipping containers.
The A.P. Møller – Mærsk group was actually founded in 1904 by his father. It is now worth $81bn dollars.
At the time of Møller’s membership of the order, he was the only non-royal and non-head of state to hold the honour; though it had previously been held by the pioneering nuclear physicist, Niels Bohr.
Membership of the order comes with possession of its rather eye-catching elephantine emblem.
The elephant is made of white-enamelled gold with blue housings and is about 5cm high.
Tumblr media
On its back, the elephant bears a tower of pink enamelled masonry (a design originally intended to reflect the howdah compartments of the Indian subcontinent).
A number of large cut diamonds adorn the elephant, along with a crowned monogram of the monarch reigning when it was made.
One wonders, then, when the first Frederikian elephants will be carved.
At the top of the tower on the elephant’s back sits a gold ring, from which the badge can be hung from the collar or tied to a sash.
On the elephant's back sits a turbaned ‘moor mahout.’
It should be noted that some would regard such a depiction as an exoticising caricature.
Others would regard its appearance merely as an expression of an historical perspective.
Tumblr media
One striking detail about the circulation of the elephants is that each Order of the Elephant is – in principle – on loan and must be returned to the Chapter of the Royal Orders of Chivalry when a member of the Order has passed away.
This rather quaint custom means that elephants are inherited and used several times by different members of the order, with some dating back hundreds of years.
Interestingly, the done thing is not to disclose to whom an Elephant has previously been given – though there are some traditional lines of inheritance.
For example, the elephant recently bestowed on Prince Christian belonged previously to his grandfather, Prince Henrik.
This handing over was always to be, on the basis of a traditional line of inheritance.
There are two exceptional elephants which have eluded the rule of the ‘loan’ – one remains in the Chancellery Museum at Paris and a second remains on display at the Dwight Eisenhower Presidential Library in the US.
Another beautiful quirk of membership of the Order is that a member’s coat of arms is always painted and subsequently hung in the Knight’s Chapel at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød.
Tumblr media
As to when the elephants come out to play, there are some rather interesting traditions concerning how and when to wear them.
The Order of the Elephant has three festival days: new year’s day, the monarch’s birthday, and the birthday of Valdemar the Victorious, which, if you didn’t know is on June 28.
On these festival days, the Order of the Elephant is worn on the chest on a gold chain link collar, with links shaped as towers and elephants.
The collar sits on each shoulder. On other important occasions, the order is worn on a bright blue sash with a breast star.
The star of the order is an eight-pointed silver star with smooth rays; at its centre sits an enameled red disc with a white cross, surrounded by a laurel wreath in silver.

Simon Silversweater-
Sage of Practical Magic
Tumblr media
"People tend to think that because practical magic is used so often to facilitate everyday domestic chores, it is the simplest and most manageable branch of magic. Yes and no. People forget that practical magic is firmly rooted in nature, and nature rules everything. It is creator and destroyer, life and death. It charts the trajectory of the stars, migrating birds, and the ebbing and flowing of the tides, the sap in the trees, and the blood in our veins."
Tumblr media
"L. and Morgyn will be the first ones to tell you that learning practical magic is foundational, intrinsic to the other schools of magic. The majority of mages acquires a liminal understanding of its inner workings--and in most cases, that is sufficient. But mastering practical magic is a life-long endeavor. A difficult one, but also a rewarding one. It is truly harmonious, even in the confines of its mysteries. Physicist Niels Bohr understood its main principle, even though he wasn't a mage. He stated, 'contraria sunt complementa': 'opposites are complementary.'
Tumblr media
"Also, actions have consequences. Everything is interconnected and our actions impact not only our lives, but the lives of others. The smallest actions can lead to great outcomes. Let's look at my little friend here: maybe mathematician Edward Lorenz oversimplified the matter when he explained chaos theory, but I very much appreciate the metaphor: it has been said that the beat of this butterfly's tiny wings inspires the mighty hurricane." -Simeon Silversweater, Sage of Practical Magic

Continuing on, because finishing this book is apparently a better use of my time than the dozens of good ones waiting for me, it's notable that surface-to-orbit and orbit-to-surface lasers are a constant threat and concern at the strategic level. No mention of the diffraction, refraction, attenuation or any other problem that make lasers just about the least desirable weapon to be using in either direction. Most scientifically-realistic space combat ever, remember. Also, I'm aware this is me being petty, but lasers firing into an atmosphere just invisibly blow shit up instead of leaving a big white lightning-like beam as they ionize the air they pass through.
As for non-pedantic remarks, the protagonist is on a roll of not doing his job because he doesn't want to bother people and is afraid he'll get yelled at. I don't mean some kind of internal affairs thing, I mean neglecting to conduct intelligence work and research on an unknown ship because maybe the sensors operators and comms guys will get annoyed by him.
Again, this is where I suspect the author's background comes into play. If you're a reporter playing tagalong, everything the military does for you is a favor and any request you make is a distraction from their actual work. Our grand master subject matter expert genius guy (that is very much the impression his bio is trying to give, I reiterate) can't put himself into the mindset of actually being in the military, where "not doing your job because you don't want to be annoying" has a lot of names but most famously goes by 'dereliction of duty'.
Of course, it's kind of in-character. Ensign Niel Mercer (who everyone calls Niel, because everyone uses first names in this book, much like all military organizations the world over are famous for doing) is weirdly shy and immature thus far. Refer to the blushing schoolboy crush/serial workplace harassment. I'm not ruling out that this intentional and it's heading towards an arc, but I devoted almost as much time as the book did to Mercer's (sorry, Niel's) reaction to getting into a gunfight on the surface and also proving useless in a gunfight on the surface. It is mentioned that the other junior officers are jealous of him being the only one of them that's faced enemy fire yet. Because I suppose they expected to be knee-deep in bodies and brass when they signed up to be officers in the boring admin sections of the fucking Space Force.

Spacewalk (a Ninjago Fan-Season)
Episode 5: The Blue Mother
It was morning and Niel was harshly woken up by a sudden sound of a gong. Or more like the cymbals of a drum. Niel shot up and walked towards the sound that came from the halls with curiosity. He saw Master Wu holding a small gong and banging it loudly while shouting, "Evil doesn't sleep and neither should you!" Niel chuckled at how none of the ninja had woken up so he took the opportunity to be a good pupil and presented himself infrmt of the master. Sensei Wu stopped for a second and smiled, he was quite pleased, "Ahh, good morning, Niel! This alarm wasn't intended for you, however," he only nodded and grinned, "I know! But, I'm taking this opportunity to be responsible and showing you what a good pupil I can be!" The master chuckled and lowered his arms and placed the gong on the floor, "Very well." The other ninja groggily caught up to Niel and greeted the master with a big bow. Everyone's hair was a mess, including Niel who supposedly slept like a baby. Kai side-eyed Niel before noticing him staring at him and covered up his messy with his hood and pulling on its strings until al that was visible was the tip of his nose. He shouted but it came out in a muffle, "No mortal being shall see me in such a miserable state!" Niel giggled softly before turning his attention back to Master Wu, "Morning routine, as per usual but this time," he pulled Niel to the side of him by his arm, "You ninja will mentor Niel, like you did with Lloyd," the green ninja shot up slightly at the mention of his name. He looked back and forth over everyone before understanding the situation, "Oh! Okay-- y-yeah, we can do that!" Nya shook her head and chuckled at his antics.
Niel turned to the master before tilting his head, "I do want to know. What are the daily tasks for the ninja every day? Does it depend on crime or..." Master Wu hummed before smiling cheekily and responding, "Well, we have a routine for the morning. We start with..." He paused and clapped to cue for the next scene for the training montage. "Stretching Session!" The ninja were held in the most extreme form of Mountain stretching Niel had ever scene. This was the last of the torturous stretches he endured during the past thirty minutes. Cole, Zane and Niel could barely keep thselves together while Nya, Jay and Kai looked like models doing it. Niel held his breath, occasionally letting it go and panting while relaxing his muscles before Master Wu reminded him to return to the clenched position. The red ninja scoffed at the struggling team and snarked, "C'mon! We've been doing this everyday, aren't you guys at least a little used to it?" Zane glared at him before angrily mentioning his nindroid mobility, "Unfortunately, my bionic parts were not suited to stretch like this constantly." Cole kept his eyes shut, focusing his strength only to last as long as he could so Master Wu doesn't give him a punishment, "Yeah... Kai-- Lay o-off!" He was already struggling to stay still but still had the strength to defend himself, even is sounding pathetic in the process. "No? We've been together for years, you guys! Like, C'mon!" He paused, "Except Niel, he gets a pass," he smiled at the struggling trainee and gave him a thumbs up. Niel gasped in shock at how he could even possibly do a thumbs up in that back breaking position. He took the mountain stretch to the extreme and had his head all the way between his legs and his chest practically on the floor. Before Niel could even say anything, Master Wu announced it was time for the next excercise.
"Stamina Training!" Everyone was placed on treadmills, probably set to the highest possible speed before combustion. Cole, Kai and Lloyd had no trouble keeping up with the speed. Jay especially was stellar, not needing a single second to stop and breathe for a single second, his hand didn't even touch the handle bars that were in place to keep people like Niel grounded. The trainee eventually let loose and hopped off before possibly falling backwards and breaking a bone. Kai stopped too and walked over to him, he sat on the floor, his breaths heavy and what could barely be considered breathing. He smiled and patted his back, "Don't worry, you'll keep up! It was set to the lowest 'Acceptable ninja speed settings'," He encouraged him as he watch Niel look really worried and disappointed in himself, "Acceptable? What even is the bar for that?" The red ninja took a big sip of his bottle before staring back with a gentle and relaxed smile, "Thirty Kilometres per hour." He wiped his mouth and offered Niel some for himself. Niel hastily took it and drank some before spitting it out in shock and making disgusted noises, "Aughh! What even is that!?" "Kai Juice," Cole replied while stepping off his treadmill. Niel stared back with a grinched up face before doing a double take on that statement. Cole understood the very inappropriate implications and explained further, "I-it's coffee mixed with energy drinks, sugar aaaaaand a hint of Master Wu's explosivi-tea." Niel dry heaved at the revelation as Master Wu announced the next routine.
"Hygiene and Self-Care!" Jay pounded at the bathroom door before shouting out, "Kaiiiii! You've been in there for thirty minutes! What's taking you so long?" He whined. Some shuffling noises were heard from inside before he poked his soaking head out, the spikes in his hair already present, "I have a very meticulous self-care routine so unless you're ugly, you should understand the efforts I do to keep myself presentable." He shut the door again as the water ran again. Cole walked up to the door before clicking his tongue in annoyance and barging in without warning. Niel just watched with Lloyd the whole situation go down. They could hear Kai screaming in shock before the scolding. Then he stopped and stuttered out a few shouts of protest, something along the lines of Cole invading his privacy. Then, the water ran again. Nya came up to behind the line and explained to Niel, "This happens everytime it's Kai's turn. Same story, different day."
-------
Everything was done and the ninja head to the basement where PIXAL, Zane and Master Wu was already there. The monitors showed spots of crime activity throughout the city and it was going to be time for which team gets to choose what. There were three currently: one downtown with just some hooligans terrorising the citizens with knives, a problem between a serpentine being discriminated by a store clerk and the Mechanic being an absolute menace in a clothing factory. The ninja didn't stop arguing over who takes what until they realized Niel was there and had to tag along as they were mentors and had to keep an eye on him. They all glanced at each other before nodding and Nya asked him, "Okay, Niel. Who do you want to go with?" The trainee thought before asking who was taking what job. Cole grunted, "That's why we need you to choose who you want to go with. That ninja will be taking an easier and lighter job so you're not totally in danger," he explained. Niel groaned and crossed his arms, "Seriously? I'm going with whoever doing's the hooligans. I like beating up bullies." Cole's eyes lit up. He liked Niel's train of thought, especially after the promise he made his mother. The earth ninja had his hands on his shoulders and shaking him left and right a tiny bit out of excitement, "I call dibs on Niel!" Lloyd nodded and took the leader stance and began giving orders, "Okay, then that's settled. Kai, Nya, take the store clerk. Zane, Jay, take the mechanic. Cole, Niel and I will take those hooligans." Kai moved forward in protest, "Oh wait, hold on! Why do WE get the boring job?" Zane held his shoulder and spoke seriously with him, "Kai, the last time you faced the mechanic, you nearly burned down an orphanage." "Oh, come on! That was a mistake! Jay was there, it could've been him!"
After Nya put her brother in place, the discussion was over and she dragged him to their shared car and left for the scene. Zane and Jay hurried off in their road-rider and jet respectively while Cole, Lloyd and Niel stayed a little to discuss who Niel would ride along with. After the traumatic experience with the car, Niel took the decision to just tag along with the green ninja instead. Master Wu waved goodbye for them to leave but not before he told Niel he had something for him. Niel turned back to him and asked him, "Oh? What is it, master?" The Sensei pulled out a cloth from behind him, a ninja mask that had a mint colour that matched with his hoodie, "Put this on. You're one of us now." Niel took it gratefully and examined it. He pulled it over his head, adjusting it under the rim of his glasses before gasping and feeling it on his face, "This fits like magic! Thank you, master!" He bowed before running off and catching up with Lloyd who was already on his speeder. He hopped on and held tight to the green ninja as they sped off to the scene downtown.
Lloyd and Niel were there first and Cole was lagging behind due to the sheer size of his car. The green ninja hopped off but Niel was told to stay back and just sit on his bike. He moved forward and tool hold of the steering wheel, in case he needed a quick get away. Cole and Lloyd approached the hooligans and shouted out their team catchphrase, "Not so fast!" The trainee muttered under his breath a sarcastic, "Really?" But, of course, Lloyd overheard and shrugged, "Yeah, I don't know who made it official, but it is!" Cole drew out his hammer and chuckled, "Lloyd it was you!" "What? Nooo!" The four thugs turned towards them with their knives in hand, they were in the middle of trying to rob an old lady. They charged at them and Lloyd and Cole did as well. It was just measly hand-to-hand, so of course Lloyd and Cole took them down in no time. Not until one of them whistles loudly and called for back up. A few moments later, five more bikes and thugs showed up and surrounded the three ninja. Niel was already freaking out a bit, none of them expected this at all.
One of the thugs picked Niel up by the collar and threatened to beat him up if they don't leave, "I-I... Uhh... It's my first day actually! I'm just tagging alo--" "Zip it!" The now mint ninja was cut off mid-sentence. He thought his rambling might've worked. Lloyd was too distracted with getting tackled to other thugs and Cole was busy trying to get three small ones off his back. Niel was at a loss as the person holding him was much bigger and stronger. Until, for some reason, he looked up. He squinted his eyes to look for that comet and sure enough, there it was. A small blue tint in the sky, barely visible. By some instinct, he focused on it. He stared and thought hard at what he wanted the thug to do. Like magic, the thug's grip loosened and he was able to drop on to the ground on his feet. Niel kicked him in the shins and knocked him down. Cole had thrown off the three he was fighting against the pavement and promptly knocked them out and Lloyd had already tied up the other two. They returned to Niel on the ground, in front of the fallen criminal and saw that he was unharmed. Lloyd ran up to him, "Niel! Are you oka--" he stopped mid-sentence when he noticed him being awfully quiet.
He moved to the front of him and saw his eyes glow purple and he was still. Cole was about to approach him but suddenly, Niel grabbed Lloyd by the shoulders and threw him hard against a brick wall. He hit his head and was knocked out cold from Niel's sheer strength. Cole exclaimed, "What!? Why'd you do--" he was cut off with the mint ninja giving him a good punch in the nose. He was thrown back a bit by it and held his nose that slowly trickled out blood. He saw the blood drip onto his hand and wiped it to the side. He threw away his weapon and clenched his fist, "Alright, I'm just gonna hold him off until it wears off. Don't hurt him," Cole reminded himself. Niel marched to him, a demented look in his eyes. That eerie purple glow was just unnerving to see again. Niel threw a good pucnh at him but he blocked. The mint ninja kept going hard on him but he endured. Kai and Nya arrived on the scene. The red ninja took a minute to process what was going on before leaping into action and defending his teammate. He was about to kick the attacker from behind when he noticed the hood, "Niel!?" He exclaimed in surprise. Niel turned his head around and stared at him. That wasn't Niel. Kai was stuck in place, as if he were some sort of spell. Niel approached him slowly, his footsteps became heavier and heavier and a raspy breath came out of him.
Kai shut his eyes, unable to do anything else until the trainee collapsed on to the ground and Kai took a step back, broken from that spell. His body rolled onto the ground and stayed still for awhile before Niel's eyes shot open and he gasped. He jumped up and sat up quickly, gasping for air and frantically looked at his surroundings, "What happened!?" The glow was gone and his eyes remained the deep purple they were used to. Nya ran up to him and held him by his shoulder, "Niel! Are you alright?" The mint ninja rubbed his head little, trying to snap himself out of the corruption then he remembered, "Lloyd!" He lept to his feet and ran towards the unconscious green ninja. He was about to reach out and shake him awake when Kai intervened and drew his sword and pointed it at Niel, "Nobody hurts the green ninja," he grumbled. Now, he just felt awful. He was new and caused so much more trouble for them. He hurt the Green ninja himself and beat up the leader of the team with his own fists. He was about to turn around and leave in shame when Nya placed her hand on Kai's sword arm and pushed it down slightly, "No, Kai. It's the corruption. He can't control it." They were silent before Cole came up to the group and said, "We need to find a solution to this problem. One way or another."
Lloyd stumbled on his feet as he groaned, the pain in his head was still strong. He blinked his eyes a few times before screaming out in fear at Niel. They all were a bit stratled, "Lloyd! You're okay!" Niel exclaimed in happiness, "Barely. You threw me against a wall!" Kai glared at him before the mint ninja tried to defend himself with an excuse. It all proved to be fruitless when he assessed the situation himself. Cole helped Lloyd up by his hand as the green ninja continued, "I knew you should've just gone home instead of joining us. Why did I ever trust you?" Cole looked at the two, Niel looking really sorry and Lloyd looking pretty bruised up and furious, "No. This isn't his fault. This corruption he's in is the reason for everything that's happening, so we either help him or more people gets hurt." Kai grumbled before pulling off his mask, "Fine, let's take him to Master Wu. Where did he say he was going to again?" "Library of Domu. It's pretty far..." Lloyd replied before taking off his own mask and calling for the others over their headsets, "Zane, Jay. Are you there?" From their end, Lloyd could hear Jay screaming in anger as Zane tried to talk calmly, "He got away. Why? Do you need us?" "No but it's just--"
Suddenly, a huge explosion was heard from the sky. A big boom that echoed like a nuclear bomb was set off far away in space. The ninja looked up towards the noise before Kai noticed something bright in the sky, "What is that?" He pointed at the blue glint that seemed to be getting bigger in the sky, "I don't know but we should look at it through a telescope. It seemed to be far off in space." Cole and everyone else pull on their masks before hopping onto their vehicles, "Zane, Jay and everyone to the Bounty!" Lloyd communicated and they sped off.
--------
"Nya, what do you see?" Lloyd asked the water ninja at the big telescope on the bounty. She quinted her eyes, still unable to properly recognize it, "I don't know... It looks like a big meteor or or... Some sort of comet. It's blue, that's for sure," she passed it on to Zane. Maybe a nindroid has better chances of analyzing it. Zane's eyes popped up when he was able to find this exact comet in his database, "You're right, Nya. It is a comet," he zoomed in even more and hooked it up to the big monitor on the bounty as he stood in front of it. "It is about five hundred kilometres across, travelling about four hundred thirteen kilometres per hour and was said to have almost hit earth a few years ago." He pressed a few buttons, pulling up some article from a few years ago about the same galactic entity, "Scientist named it "The Blue Mother" after estimating that it would've hit earth and destroyed it. It flew past and left the solar system." He stopped talking, turning him towards his friends and explaining again with a bit of a worried tone, "They said it would've never returned but it seemed to have came back and I estimate it would not miss this time." The ninja all gasped at the discovery. Lloyd asked, "In how many days will it arrive?" "By estimation... Twenty eight days." Niel stepped up before pointing at the screen, "That's the comet that talked to me in my dream! I remember," Jay groaned loudly, "Now is not the time to talk about your prophetic dreams! It's time to warn people in Ninjago!" Cole held his friends back before telling him lolwy, "Let him finish Jay. Maybe it's a clue to how to stop it," he looked back to Niel who then continud with his story, "In my dream, it told me it was my mother and it gave life to me. I was one among many apparently, and I heard it say to me last night 'I'm coming for you'."
Jay was very clearly creeped out and said again, "Niel, this comet is hurling towards earth and you telling us it's coming for you specifically is NOT HELPFUL! You're ON earth! It's gonna kill us ALL!" Jay screamed in horror as he slowly lost his marbles. Nya had an unimpressed look on her face and replied to him, "Jay, screaming isn't going to solve the problem..." He inhaled then exhaled, trying to calm himself down, "Okay, what should we do?" Kai gathered everyone and said, "First, we need to find Master Wu and tell him about all of this. Then, we look for a way to stop it. To the library of Domu!"
Master Wu had just finished reading the last scroll. He was getting more anxious. He had been sitting there for days, drinking hundreds of cups of tea yet he couldn't bring anything to the table. He was just about to look for another way until he noticed a bunch of people gathered around a big open window. They were mumbling among themselves at something in the sky. Curious, he followed and looked from a different window and that's when he saw it; a blue glint in the sky, almost outshining the sun itself. That's when memories flooded. "The Blue Mother..." He rushed back to his scroll and looked for a part which mentioned this comet. He read under his breath, "It will search for it's child, the current Elemental Master of Stars and will not stop until it found it's child or is destroyed by it's own kin." He kept reading some more. He had never heard of this elemental master before, the information on The Blue Mother so far had been from a more scientific view. He moved to the section of the scrolls that had information on the Elemental Master of Stars and read again, "The power of this element has the ability to move stars and comets at will. Though not strong enough to move it by a wide distance, it can very much change the condition of anything the elemental master associates with the star or comet." He breathed in and out. The chance of finding this elemental master is hardly possible but he will not quit until the Blue Mother ceases.

Alright, I’ll prompt the crossover talk: What is the “slight canon divergence” you speak of?
Oh boy... I am going into this ask assuming that you guys have actually watched Danny Phantom.
Alright, so: Season 1 and Season 2 (up until the Ultimate Enemy double episode) are pretty much exactly the same, with the minor difference that, instead of Danny opening the portal because his parents put the button to open it inside the portal, they were both exhausted, forgot to plug in a critical part, Danny noticed it while going inside it and plugged it in, activating the portal since it hadn't actually been turned off.
Now, the Ultimate Enemy, Kindred Spirit and Masters of all Time episodes are all getting an... overhaul for Season 2.
The first part is Kindred Spirit, which has now been moved to happening before Ultimate Enemy. Besides that, it happens pretty much the same besides me fusing the other three clones to make another character, Niel. Seriously, the part where all the clones die is fucked up.
Then, Masters of All Time. Happens the same, besides this episode now being the first meeting with Clockwork. When Danny first comes to his lair, he finds his staff, is able to bullshit his way into opening a portal to the past, and from there the episode happens like in canon until he comes back to the tower to try and fix his mistake. Then, Clockwork is there, and absolutely furious at him. Do you realize the mess I have to fix because of you!? He calms down when Danny explains himself, accepting pretty quickly that he's just fourteen and trying to do the right thing. So, he restores the timeline as it was, and let Danny figure this out. Like in canon, he does, and things go back to normal...
... or do they?
Now taking near the end of Season 2: The Ultimate Enemy. First part goes more or less like in canon, besides maybe the whole CAT test thing. But the second part? Turns out, the perfect clone of Danny that died? Became a full ghost, and hellbent on ruining Danny's life for killing him. It go to the point that he killed Danny's friends and family, then hunted down Danny when he moved in with Vlad. Some insane shit happens, and Danny's future self is born, a cruel wraith hungry for souls. Clockwork ends up rescuing Danny once he gets the Ghostly Wail, and the two make a pact: Danny captures his future self, and Clockwork finds a no-bloodshed way to avert the bad future. That way is finding the clone (who I'm gonna be calling Dan), and essentially adopting him.
Oh, also, at the end of Reality Trip, Danny decided to let his parents keep their memories about the identity reveal.
Now, Season 3... oof. To make it short: the big ghosts (Undergrowth, Vortex, Nocturn) that we see? All of those disasters are a mix of blue-and-orange morality and testing Danny to make sure he'll be a good Ghost King once he dies (he did defeat Pariah Dark). There's more tests from ancients ghosts. Both Valerie and my version of Wes Weston (who's a conspiracy nut in general) find out about Danny's identity and pull a heel-face turn. I don't know how to end season 3. Phantom Planet doesn't happen.
Anyway, Saki's arc in Season 7 happens during Season 3, in the lull between Etoile's (Ancient of Magic, a powerful ghost witch) test and Ori's (Ancient of Destruction, not nearly as dangerous as his title would imply)

New single out April 14th!!!!!
And out of the blue drops new MCC [Magna Carta Cartel] single ”Blue Hour Gate”; the first new music to emerge from the band since the release of the acclaimed 2022 album ”The Dying Option”. Like a distillment of last years album, this brand new song takes the listener on a ride through the blue hours - the place where shadows and outlines are what matters and what guides ones mind and eye. Eerie, chanting and intricate in all its simplicity, ”Blue Hour Gate” is equal part pop / rock / ambient. Or, in other words - it is an MCC song through and through. Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Niels Nielsen and MCC during the strange 2023 February nights in which Aurora Borealis visited the southern parts of Sweden; an event as uncommon as MCC capturing, taming and releasing a new song.
So - behold, embrace and enter the Blue Hour Gate.
Best Regards // MCC

I can't sing Baldur's Gate 3 praises enough. From not knowing much about it to devoting hours to it, from not giving it much thought to being completely invested in the world.
The game makes you feel seen. It makes you feel anger, rage, fear, joy, sadness, pride, and embarrassment. It makes you feel loved and wish to love, it makes you want to kill as much as it makes you want to protect. It's a master class of an RPG game and a master clsss of writing, voice acting, gaming.
It also has an owlbear cub, which totally didn't influence my decision to be a druid. No. Not at all. I totally didn't choose druid just so I can speak to every animal in existence.
And Niel put it best last night — I felt seen with Astarion. I felt like someone had given words to how I've been feeling lately. This is a character I started off hating, mind you.
And it got Game of the Year. So. Yea. BG3 is good. I will now drink coffee because I'm tired.

Blood and screams filled the castle, carcasses of monsters were scattered with soldiers and sorcerers trying to push the evil away. But it didn't work for he,was too strong.
The grand sorcerer,Niel, whom everyone worshipped, was on his knees.Blood oozing out of wounds that refused to heal without his permission. The violet eyes which belonged to the demon king loomed over him,as he won.Now it was time for the deal to start.
'Master, come with me.Everything will be at peace and prosperity will be back. You wanted to see what was behind those trens, right?I will show you,so come with me.'The demon king tried to entrance him into following him but Niel,he didn't want to but 'NIEL! DON'T LISTEN TO HIM,HE IS THE CATASTROPHE!YOU CAN'T DO THAT!' screamed his bestfriend,Noah, who was already at her limit. She can't go on anymore.
Why?How did everything come to this?It was fine before. He was the grand sorcerer whom everyone loved and he protected them, the world, since.
'The destiny of the grand sorcerer, whom everyone revered,is connected with the demon king. How laughable.'He mocked, which served as the last string holding him back.He can still go on,he can right?
But nothing came, his mana was depleted but the demonic monsters are still at a rampage and the demon king's lackeys are stilla large while the number of sorcerers were slowly decreasing and swordsman were losing their comrades, one by one.He couldn't bear it anymore. He can't watch Noah struggling and his followers dying anymore.
'Will you stop everything?' The question echoed through the castle while the demon king shook,he was too shocked and ... Happy . 'I would, gladly.Just come with me, Master.' The demon king, Evan, was too happy that he immediately stopped his monsters and lackeys from attacking further.
He struggled to stand up but he did and walked two steps before he almost collapsed again.'No no,you shouldn't walk, you are injured, come here.' Evan was estatic at his cooperation that he lifted him up and the wounds on his body started healing at a pace Niel could never heal himself at.
'NIEL NO PLEASE WE CAN STILL GO ON.' Noah cried out,not wishing to see the mighty grand sorcerer vanishing with the demon king to stop the great destruction. She knew that she was being selfish but this world would have no meaning if he isn't here.
He felt like crying, once he goes through the tren,he can never come back.He will be bound with Evan, who was once his disciple.
'Evan please,he was your master why are you doing this? ' she,the grand Duchess of Kalazer, knew the answer yet she can't help. The soldiers were dropping down at an alarming rate while his lackeys and monsters were retreating back into the tren. The sorcerers look relieved, without knowing what was going on near the tren, which was the portal to the underworld that only the demon king can open.
'Be quiet,Ms.Noah.You do not know how long I've been wanting to hold him in my arms like this, finally.I have the power to have him all to myself.' His eyes glowed violet for he was too in love with his master, who was mightier and greater than anyone else.He was so happy that his master finally agreed.'Master, are you uncomfortable anywhere? We can go in now, right? ' He didn't say anything in response but Evan kept going, regardless,as he already healed everywhere his master might've been hurt.
Niel was finally in his place,in his arms.He would never let go even for a eternity.

The Human Who Had No Limits
➥ summary: She wanted to be strong like him - her father. He was able to defeat foes with just one punch and kick and having seen him and his disciple Genos in action she concluded she wanted to be just like him if not better; so at the ripe age of six she started training. Even when her body yearned for her to stop she didn’t she he performed 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats, and ran 10 kilometers each day until it happened. A portal done sucked her up and now she’s in another dimension but don’t think that’s going to stop her from training just as hard as her father. Nothing stops the grind, not even man eating demons that apparently want to eat you and demon slayers that want to kidnap you because some dude they work for tells them too.
➥ chapter 9: Revelations and Strategy
➥ a/n: Here’s a recap about what happened after the demon slayer and the crow witnessed the battle between (y/n) and the demon in chapter 2
Tumblr media
After the battle between (Y/N) and the demon a crow, belonging to a nearby demon slayer, observed the confrontation with keen eyes. Witnessing the incredible strength and determination displayed by (Y/N), the crow knew it had stumbled upon something extraordinary.
With haste, the crow swiftly made its way back to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, its wings beating against the wind as it carried the weight of its important discovery. It sought out its master, eager to deliver the news that would shake the foundation of their organization.
Within the confines of the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, the crow fluttered into the room where the Corps leader, Ubuyashiki, and the Hashiras were engaged in a discussion about the ongoing battles against the demons. The room fell silent as all eyes turned towards the crow, its presence demanding attention.
Ubuyashiki, his voice calm and commanding, spoke first. "What news do you bring, faithful crow?"
The crow chirped, conveying its message in a series of distinctive calls and movements. Its master, a skilled demon slayer, deciphered the information and relayed it to Ubuyashiki and the Hashiras.
"Niel had witnessed a battle between human and demon. Niel has seen exceptionally powerful warrior, and a demon of considerable strength. Neil seen human demonstrated remarkable abilities, vanquishing the demon with unrivaled power."
The room filled with a mix of awe and intrigue. The Hashiras, the elite demon slayers of the Demon Slayer Corps, exchanged glances, contemplating the implications of this newfound discovery. Ubuyashiki, his gaze steady, contemplated the situation before addressing the group.
"It seems we have encountered a unique individual—one who possesses immense power and the ability to confront demons on equal footing. We must tread carefully and consider the possibilities that lie before us."
The Hashiras, respected for their skill and experience, shared their thoughts on the matter, offering different perspectives and insights.
“Tell me my faithful crow, what did this human look like?”
”Niel seen human up close. Yes Niel did. Human was female, human was tall with defined muscles like Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui. Human female was tall like Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui too. Human female had (hair color) and (eye color)!”
“Thank you for the information my faithful crow, you may now leave us and return back to your master”
Niel crowded in response before flying away back to his owner. Soon discussions delved into the potential of this human Niel spoke of becoming a valuable asset in their fight against the demons.
Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, voiced his concerns. "We must approach this situation cautiously. We have little information about (Y/N) and her intentions. It would be unwise to rush into any decisions without knowing more."
Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, interjected with a thoughtful suggestion. "Perhaps we should investigate further. We can send a group to assess (Y/N)'s abilities, intentions, and potential for cooperation."
Uzui Tengen, the Sound Hashira, nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it is important to gather more information before making any concrete decisions. We cannot afford to underestimate the significance of this encounter."
Ubuyashiki, his voice filled with wisdom, concluded the discussion. "We shall proceed as suggested. A group will be dispatched to find and meet with this human, ascertain her intentions. We must remember our duty to protect humanity and eliminate the threat of demons."
With the plan set, the Hashiras and Ubuyashiki continued to discuss the logistics and preparations required for the upcoming encounter. They acknowledged the need to approach this human with caution, respecting her formidable power and potential impact on their fight against the demons.
As the meeting drew to a close, the room buzzed with anticipation. The revelation of this muster human's existence had ignited a spark of hope among the demon slayers, a glimmer of possibility that they could find a powerful ally in their ongoing struggle.
The crow, having fulfilled its duty, perched itself on a windowsill, its beady eyes gazing out into the world. It knew that the fate of human female and the Demon Slayer Corps would soon intertwine, their paths converging in a pivotal moment that would shape the course of their shared battle against the demons.
And so, preparations began, plans were set in motion, and the Hashiras geared themselves for the meeting that would bring them face to face with the enigmatic hero known as (Y/N). The outcome remained uncertain, but hope flickered in the hearts of the demon slayers, eager to embrace the possibility of a new ally in their fight for a world free from the clutches of darkness.
