NEW Niigata Station Grand Opening!
Today, April 25th, was the official Niigata station grand opening! With only a small section of the station left to finish, almost all of the shops in Niigata station are now open to the public just in time for Golden Week. So, let’s take a look at what’s new and what’s left to come.
Tumblr media
Bar-Ramen Yokocho (Alley) (2F East Side)
The east side 2nd floor mostly opened in March, but at the time they were still working on the Bar-Ramen Yokocho dining area. Now, the dining area is ready to show off Niigata Izakaya and ramen culture during both the day and night. One side of the U-shaped dining area features bars and izakaya, including a Thai restaurant and a Korean restaurant, while the other side highlights Niigata ramen like Ittoya Ramen. There’s even a kushikatsu place on the bar side that not only uses Niigata rice flour panko, but also fries Niigata specialty foods like tarekatsu (pork cutlet with sauce) and even sasadango (mochi and red bean paste).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nishi Deli Street (West Deli Street) (2F West Side)
If you haven’t gotten your fill of Niigata foods at Yokocho Bar and Ramen, then you can head to the west side of the 2nd floor for even more food. Nishi Deli Street, or West Deli Street, is an eating and drinking zone where people can experience “Niigata-ness,” according to the Cocolo website. This area also features stores with Niigata foods including Tonkatsu Taro, also in Furumachi, and an onigiri shop which will open at 7am when some of the first trains start running. There’s also an udon restaurant and taiyaki stand, too.
Tumblr media
Cocolo Mart (1F East Side)
From vegetables to meat to fish and more, the 1st floor east side now has a variety of grocery stores, including some familiar ones. Along with the 2nd floor stores, this will add even more grocery options to a place where they have been lacking for the last three years. One new store, Niigata Kaisenka (Seafood Store), is actually a familiar store by a different name. Kenko Shijou (Healthy Market) has been near the station for many years, and it will now sell its fish and other products at the station under this new name. Another somewhat familiar store is Meidi-ya, which had a shop in Furumachi 19 years ago and has now returned to Niigata in the station. It’s famous for its wide foreign food selection and its “My Jam” collection.
But groceries aren’t all this section has. There are also restaurants ranging from cafes like Sanmaruku Cafe and Mister Donut to a Korean food stand and even a Niigata sushi restaurant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cocolo 1F West Side- Fashion and Cosmetics
The biggest section that opened is Cocolo 1F West Side. While it doesn’t have a fancy name like some other sections, it does makeup almost half of the newly opened space. This section is geared toward fashion and cosmetics with stores like Maker’s Shirt, Usagi Online Store, and Fruits Gathering. However, there is also a furniture store, Unico, and three places for sweet treats: Lindt store (formerly near Bandai City), Godiva Dessert (first Godiva crepe store in Japan), and Gong Cha (first of this popular bubble tea chain in Niigata). There’s even a Doutor that sells not only coffee but also alcohol!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This section also includes the Gatarium, an open space for holding events (and where many opening events will be happening). While a few stores in this area along with the station’s new Lawson and Ekinan Kitchen (South Station Kitchen) are set to open in May, there’s still plenty to explore now.
Tumblr media
The Niigata station grand opening comes after years of construction. There are many new places to check out and even a few more to come as they keep working on Ekinan Kitchen and more. For this weekend, though, they have planned some opening events, starting with the grand opening ceremony this morning. There will be a talk with Reina Triendl on Saturday (4/27) from 1:30-2:00 and Negicco on Monday (4/29) around the same time with a small live show afterward. Additionally, on Sunday, the station will feature several craft workshops from 11:00-3:00. Make sure you don’t miss out on these events and take the chance to explore the brand-new station.

It's raining but the air is frosty. The street is still lined with snowbanks and the plaza near the station is snow-covered aside from a small path. So, grab your coat, put on your boots, and let’s take a walk to the station!

wind pillar || shinazugawa sanemi × f! reader
cw! - sanemi behavior, smut (public sex, degradation, unprotected sex)
requests : open
nsfw under the cut
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
green fields, red roofs, a little path leading into a forest. little girls wearing cream colored yukatas while walking hand in hand, chatting happily. those little scenes pass you by quickly, as you sat next to shinazugawa sanemi on the infamous mugen train. it was quiet and empty, probably because of everything that happened here before.
ten minutes ago, sanemi and you boarded mugen train for a mission all the way in niigata prefecture. a snowy, mountainous region, which means excruciating work for your body. niigata - that's a long, three hour ride - obviously, you instantly claimed the window seat of your booth and with an exaggerated sigh, the pillar sat next to you, reading through some details of your mission. and since then, it's been unbearably quiet.
you met sanemi six months ago - mitsuri dragged you along to one of the hashiras drinking parties. obviously, she noticed you eyeing the wind hashira with a blush and instantly pulled you into the women's bathroom. "sanemi?" she sqeaked with a quick twirl, it's no use denying, so you nodded with a bashful smile. quickly, she filled you into his relationship status and gave you a brief overview of his character, "he's a challenge, (y/n). you're gonna love it, though, I know your type, he's that... times a million." with a new-found confidence, (after two peptalks from your friend), you downed another sake shot and made your way over to sanemi, who stood outside, smoking a kiseru.
"that's impressive" you commented, after he puffed out the smoke in a circle. watching it disintegrate into the night, he spoke "it's nothing. my dad, that wretched bastard, could do jellyfishes." turning to look at you, he gave you a lopsided grin. "don't have a good relationship with your dad?" you asked. that question painted the rest of the night, both of you drunkenly talking about your parents for hours, refusing to leave the inn.
the train stopped at the first station of your trip, thirty minutes have passed. you watched as the only other person in your wagon left and nobody else entered. "so it's just us two, huh?" you said, looking at sanemi with a slight twinkle in your eyes. he looked back, watching you blink seductively, and sighed, "what the fuck are you implying, (y/n)?". leaning back, he studied you, waiting for one of your annoying replies. "I'm just saying..." you started, voice barely above a whisper, trailing a vein on his muscular arm, "nobody else is here." you purred into his ear. quickly, you pulled away and turned your attention back to the scenery outside, "not like your would do it here" you added, waiting for him to snap. sighing, he shuffled closer to you, grabbing your waist, "you really think I won't fuck you on this train, bitch? I'd have you bouncing on my cock at the imperial palace, I don't give a shit." sanemi lifted you onto his lap, so you could feel his hardening cock pulsing beneath you, "bet you'd like that, whore, hm?" he pressed, you kept your lips shut, just slightly grinding against his dick with soft rolls of your hips. impatient, he grabbed your face, lowering you dangerously close to his lips, "I asked you a fucking question." you could feel the air of his words blowing against your mouth. "yes" you said, immediately pressing your lips against his. nibbling on his lower lip, you wrapped your arms around his neck, pressing him closer to you. slowly, he pressed his tongue through your lips, intertwining it with yours, as he moved his hands from your thighs to flip your skirt over, revealing your soaked underwear. "fuck" he rasped, you could feel his dick twitching through his pants.
as you busied yourself undoing his belt, sanemi peeked outside. fortunately, he couldn't see the next station, but decided to hurry anyway. "quick", he whispered hotly against your ear as you freed his fat, pulsing cock. you spit into your hand and began to jerk his girth, watching pre drip down, as he pushed your panties to the side, burying two of his fingers inside your wet pussy. instantly, he pressed his other hand over your mouth to muffle your moans and pulled his fingers, coated in your juices, out. "sit down, pretty girl." sanemi insisted and you wasted no time, navigating his cock to your pussy. feeling his head against your entrance, you sank down, biting one of his fingers to muffle your shout. although you're soaked, the stretch burned ; he filled you to the brim and you were sure he'd penetrate your cervix before your ass even met his balls. impatiently, sanemi pressed his hips up, to bury himself completely in the ecstacy that is your pussy. he wasted no time and started thrusting quickly, the noise echoed obscenely against the walls of the train, mixing with the rattling against rails. quickly, he found your clit, rubbing it in circles, while watching your tits bounce at his brutal pace. your juices dripped down his balls, onto the seat, while you drooled against his hand. as your pussy clenched and pulsed against his dick, your thighs started to tremble and your back arched deliciously, you felt like you were falling down, before an unearthly orgasm hit you. feeling the way your pussy spasmed, sanemi rasped curses under his breath and with a few, messy, thrusts, he spilled his warm, sticky cum deep inside you.
"tickets, please!" the conducter shouted as he entered your wagon. both of your hair was messy and you opened the window to get rid of the smell, although the wind was icy. you're so glad you packed double the amount of panties you usually would.

when the two of you finally managed to exorcise the special grade curse and retrieve yet another one of ryomen sukuna's fingers from it, the blonde man heaves a sigh of relief for more reasons than one.
it's heavily snowing in tsunan in the niigata prefecture, the temperature in the negatives. just his luck to be dispatched to one of the snowiest places in the world, during christmas too, no less.
a chill ran through nanami's whole body, and it had nothing to do with the adrenaline in his veins. he even swears it has nothing to do with the fact that he was dispatched with you on this particular mission, but rather how cold it was. his whole face was flushed pink, from his chiseled cheeks, the tip of his nose, all the way up to the top of his ears. his teeth were chattering slightly, and if one were to focus on him, they'd see how his figure shivered.
followed by the sigh was a sneeze and a sniffle which made you smile lightly and tilt your head to the side at him, "guess we'd better go back to the hotel, huh, big guy?"
big guy, he grimaced internally. that sounds worse than nanamin, and when someone gives a nickname more annoying that the ones gojo satoru gives, you know it's bad. however, nanami doesn't have it in him to complain about it; he curtly nods. "yes, i believe that's the best way to avoid getting sick in this weather."
the curse attacked the both of you prior to you getting checked into your hotel, so you picked up your bags from wherever you were able to throw it earlier before hailing a taxi cab. "you sure you got everything, nanami?" you asked him as you began putting your luggage into the trunk, and as he did the same with his, he answered you. "yes, i'm sure. i made sure to pack light since were aren't staying here for long anyway. what about you, [l/n]-san?"
"nanami! i told you that you don't have to be so formal with me! my first name's fine." you waved it off, "but yeah, i have everything too. thanks for asking!" you beamed at him.
the cab ride from the old, abandoned building to the hotel was short. perhaps just a bit below ten minutes, but it was filled with chatter from the old driver. at first he wondered why the two of you were out so late, and at the aged hospital that no one has used for the last ten years as well, nonetheless. nanami, sat at the passenger seat was able to quickly and smoothly make up a lie, and from there, started to make some small talk which evolved to the male driver telling crazy passengers he had driven in the past. the stories ranged from three gaijin wrestlers filming for their vlog, to drunk celebrities, to high schoolers singing along to the seventies music that his favorite radio station played -- he expressed that the last one was more surprising than being on the crazy side of things.
but alas, your fruitful interaction had to be cut short when you've finally reached your destination. nanami just let the man finish his last story, before paying for the cab ride and getting out of the vehicle.
thankfully for the both of you, the hotel, as expected, was much, much, much warmer than the outside world. nanami let out a sigh of relief at the warmth when he step foot into the establishment, then made a beeline towards the front desk. he was worn out and tired the same way you were. number two on his wishlist was to be somewhere warm, and now that he has received that, it was time for the close third; rest and as well as a comfortable bed.
just as nanami turned around to see if you were still behind him, your phone unexpectedly rang. you lifted a quick finger at him as you fished it out of your pocket to answer. the device's caller id identified it as gojo making you roll your eyes. while you did count the man as one of your friends; being a sorcerer makes you feel some sort of connection to people who are in the same boat as you, no matter how annoying they are, and annoying gojo satoru was. going against your better judgement, you swiped your thumb across the screen to answer the call and pressed the cool material to your ear only to hear the white haired sorcerer greeting you with a voice that's too cheery for half past ten in the evening.
"moshi moshi [y/n]-chan~" he spoke through the line. "are my precious underclassmen safe and sound yet or do they need my help?"
and for the second time, you rolled your eyes. "hey gojo-san, me and nanami arrived at the hotel a few minutes ago. we're going to our rooms now." you informed him as nanami gestured that he already has the room keys and that you could already proceed to the elevators to get some much needed sleep.
"hmm, and is it as cold there as the news make it out to be?" he asks in a sing song voice, clearly entertained at your expense.
"yes. yes it is." you refused to give him a reaction you know he'll tease you with and opted to keep the conversation as short as possible. "do you have anything of substance to say, gojo-san? or can i hang up now. me and nanami are tired."
you heard him chuckle on the other end of the line. "nada, [y/n]-san. hope you enjoy your night with nanamin." there's a teasing tilt to the end of his goodbye that made you wish you never went out drinking with him because what happened was you were the only one that drank as he wasn't good at handling his alcohol. you didn't remember much of what happened that night, but when gojo enunciated the blond man's name every time he spoke it the next day, you knew you opened your mouth and spoke too much around gojo.
the elevator ride and the walk to your shared hotel room was quiet and uneventful. neither you nor nanami felt the need to plug up the comfortable silence with uncomfortable small talk. the time you uttered words to each other was when he pushed the door to the room open. "what the fuck?"
one bed.
at the center of the room, there was a single bed. it could fit two people, you're sure of that, but that didn't change the fact that there was one bed when there was supposed to be two.
staying in the same hotel room with nanami was enough to set your soul on fire by itself. sleeping in the same bed as him? you're certain you might melt into a puddle on the floor that nanami would hate to clean up.
"i knew it was a mistake trusting that dimwit." you heard the man next to you mutter, so you turned your head towards him for some sort of explanation because you were at a loss.
he looked at you, before looking away quickly as if in guilt or something else. you couldn't tell. "i may have asked gojo to handle our hotel reservations."
your eyes widened at once, a scream was building up your throat, you could feel it. the hot air from your lungs was slowly rising up, up, up, fueled by tension until it was in your mouth, "i'm sorry, you did what?" you screeched, but nanami had quick reflexes and pressed a hand on your mouth at once to muffle your words. "i apologize, [l/n]-san. i was busy at the time and didn't realize he would stoop this low."
you inhaled a deep breath and pried his hand off of your face. "'t's fine, nanami. i guess we all make mistakes sometimes." you shrugged at him, putting your luggage down and going through it to fetch a shirt that's two sizes too big for you as well as pajama pants. "it's real late," you glanced up at the clock, "i doubt we can get another room, and kicking up a fuss about this more than i already have is pointless." you told him. "lemme just take a quick shower, then the bathroom's all yours, yeah?"
normally, you would have asked him if he wanted to go first, but tonight, you deeply needed to gather yourself since your heart's already pounding out of your chest at the mere thought of spending the night laying in the same bed as him.
with a small bow, you walked past him and into the bathroom.
the hot water definitely did you some good, and so does the music you're listening to right now. you're able to keep calm laying in the neat white sheets with your eyes shut tight. when you hear a door open and close, you keep it that way, not wanting to break your concentration. however, that was impossible.
a clearing of the throat was heard, followed by a deep raspy voice. "[l/n]-san, the best course of action for tonight would be for me to sleep on the couch." your eyes snapped open and you sat up via their own accord. "i don't want to make you uncomfortable, and besides, this was my mistake. i am not going to burden you."
"it wouldn't be a burden!" you answer too fast. you shrank into the sheets in embarrassment. "i meant, we're both adults, nanami. i trust you. us sleeping in the same bed wouldn't make me uncomfortable. you don't have to worry about that.” you waved it off.
he raised an eyebrow, "and you're being honest? i don't want this to be another case of you being too polite." he started walking towards the bed as you nodded. "i'm sure nanami, it's perfectly fine with me, as long as it's perfectly fine with you.
he wasted no time after that, lifting the covers on the side you weren't on and shuffling into it. "thank you [l/n-san, i mean it. i was afraid that laying on the couch would hurt my back." he confessed making you laugh. "of course, nanami-san. you've never done anything to make me feel unsafe around you. let's have a good night's sleep, yes?"
the following morning, nanami found himself in a very unfamiliar position: him on his side with you snuggled in his chest, longing to absorb all the body heat from him that you could muster. and he has wintertime and gojo satoru of all things to thank for him being able to check off number one in his wishlist.

Niigata Station Is Opening The First of Three New Sections
The Niigata station construction will soon start paying off as Niigata station is opening several new sections over the next few months. Ever since I arrived in Niigata a year and a half ago, Niigata station has been under construction, sometimes opening sections and closing others. However, we’re nearing the end of one of the major projects: the station building. Many new stores are set to open on the second floor by the end of March as well as the new bus tunnel under the station, and more will be coming before summer.
Tumblr media
On March 27th, Niigata station will officially open most of the second floor. Two small sections–one on the east side and one on the west side–will remain closed until next month, but there will be almost 60 new stores available by the end of March. Most of the stores in this section seem to be food and snack shops, though there will be some general stores and services. There will be rice cracker stores like Happy Shop (soft rice crackers) and Bakauke (Niigata rice crackers), as well as coffee shops and cafes like Kaldi Coffee Farm and Tully’s Coffee. Everything from gelato shops to sake stores to snack stands and even a Japanese omelet cafe will be opening. There will even be a 500 yen store, adding to the existing bargain stores Can Do (100 yen store) and 3 Coins (300 yen store).
If you want more information, check out the Niigata CoCoLo website: https://jenic.jp/cocolo/newopen/#f1-east_wrapper
Tumblr media
While the second floor will be open next Wednesday, we’ll have to wait a few more days for the new bus terminal under the station, which won’t open until March 31st. This new terminal is meant to connect the north and south sides of the station, which were previously separated by the station building. A combined B12/S61 line will go all the way from City Hall through Furumachi and Niigata station to Kameda Aeon Mall, making travel more convenient. Several other lines will also change their routes to go through the station, including S5, E9, and S9, and two morning direct routes will be added for S90 and W14/W24/W46, which won’t stop at the station at all.
Tumblr media
You can check out the new bus stop location map and routes here: https://www.niigata-kotsu.co.jp/~noriai/news/infomation/2024/2024_kouka_station.html
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even more excitingly, just today they opened a brand new grocery store in Niigata station! Seijo Ishii is the newest centrally located grocery store and the first of its kind in Niigata prefecture. This will be great for people living around the station and those passing through as there hasn’t been a grocery store inside the station since construction started. Seijo Ishii is known for its premium raisin cheesecake, cup desserts, and cheeses, and it features many great products from around the world. Next to Seijo Ishii supermarket is also Niigata station’s new tourism center, which opened earlier this month and has information about tourism across the prefecture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Niigata station is opening a wide variety of stores for the first time since last year, which is especially exciting for anyone like me who lives in the area. And this isn’t the only change Niigata Station will see this year. In the next few months, even more stores will open along with the new first floor of Niigata station. Currently, the grand opening is set to be April 25th, just before Golden Week, while the last to open will be a small first-floor food court on May 29th. While there’s still work to do on the station, I’m excited to see what Niigata station has for us on March 27th.

Aranai's Thoughts on Niigata Division
Tumblr media
Seiji Tsukimoto
Aranai groans at the picture of the police chief. "Oh great, the Chief of the fucking police, himself. As if having that cop from Kanazawa in this tournament wasn't bad enough!" Aranai sighs. "Thankfully, unlike that cop, this one doesn't know me, I don't think. I've done some work in Niigata, but I don't go there since most of my customers in Chubu hail from Nagoya, where that monk and his clique reside. Still, I suppose I'd better watch myself since another cop is snooping around. Ugh..."
Lyall Shiba
"Ha, this guy makes me laugh. Mainly because, for a cop, he's not too bad. And I'm not just saying that because Kaoru in Edogawa has got a thing for him. ...What? Surprised I know about it? Don't be! I mean, it's kinda obvious! Whenever the girls and I are out, she'll sometimes get a call on her cell phone. If it's this guy, Spider Girl's eyes will light up, she'll suddenly get red in the face and then excuse herself for a while.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not making fun of her anything! It's actually kinda cute seeing the resident hacker trip over herself for a guy! For a while there, I was worried I was going to have to do what I do to Sumire and find an excuse to get her and this guy a reason to meet each other. Thankfully, she's not as clueless or brainless as Sumire is and isn't afraid to take a leap!"
Ayumu Hayami
Aranai frowns at the photo of the paramedic. "I'm going to say this right now: I really don't like this guy. Why? Because more than once I've seen him here in Ueno. And it's not because somebody's sick or in danger of dying. No, the reason this guy is here in Ueno is because he's got a thing for Shisuta! ...Yeah, you heard me right! The paramedic is who a year away from being four decades old has a crush on a woman who is f'ing 13 years older than him! What the hell kinda shit is that? I'm not a lawyer like Boss Lady is, but I'm pretty sure dating someone who is a decade older than you is breaking some sort of rule. And if it isn't, then it needs to be! I'm telling you now, I'm keeping a close eye on this guy. If he does anything to Shisuta, they're going to have call a paramedic for him when I get through with him!"
Valor Guard
"Ugh, is Boss Lady asking more and more cops to join this rap tournament or something? Or do they just not have enough to do at the f'ing police station? Because there shouldn't be a reason for so many cops to be joining some rap tournament! I know not every team here is full of law-abiding citizens, but I didn't realize that meant that every cop and their brother needed to form a rap team to arrest them!
"Ugh, and knowing Boss Lady, she's gonna wanna form an alliance with these guys like the ones from Kanazawa. Ugh, hopefully, someone deals with them quickly. Either that, or they become too preoccupied with whomever they're chasing to deal with us..."

Hypnosis Microphone
Ayumu’s Microphone takes the form of a black EMS radio held in a black leather holster with a matching strap across his chest.
His Speaker takes the shape of three ambulances parked backward together in a row. The back doors are open to reveal speakers inside the vehicles.
His rap ability, First Aid, heals him and his team from their injuries and returns them to a normal state.
Ayumu’s rap centers on how all lives are worth something to him and that everyone deserves a chance to live. He raps about how he’ll keep the oath he took when he became a paramedic and that he’ll do his best to save his patients. He also raps about, despite growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth he’s willing to work hard and get his hands dirty.
Personality
Ayumu typically acts in a goofy, energetic, and fun-loving manner. It's not uncommon to see him with a grin on his face. He is shown to be witty and a good sport, often trying to get his childhood friend, Seiji, to crack a smile. Ayumu is also seen as a fatherly figure within his station, and most of his crew have all come to him for advice at some point. Having proved to have much more wisdom than his cheerful demeanor suggests.
However, whenever he's working, Ayumu's personality does a complete 180. He becomes stern and is focused on his job. Even during the most drastic of emergencies, Ayumu is decisive, calm, and levelheaded. Ayumu also invests greatly in the well-being of all his patients, regardless of whether they are a criminal, an enemy, or someone who simply refuses his help. To him, all lives are worth saving.
Ayumu despite his friendly nature does not trust people easily and can count on one hand the number of people he truly trusts. This stems from the fact that for most of his life, people have only ever tried to befriend him for his family’s wealth. Even his ex-wife only really loved the extravagant gifts he would give her and not him. This has left him with a slight dislike of his family’s wealth and often tries to avoid using it for personal reasons.
Background
In a separate post coming soon.
Trivia

Ayumu was once the heir to the company but has since passed the position on to his younger sister.

Ayumu is fluent in Japanese, English, and German.
He has a crush on Shisuta Heisha of Ueno. However, he is a bit hesitant to act on his feelings because of how his marriage with his ex-wife ended.

Dean McQuoid's B′B Niigata Engineering Company shunter running around its train at Waihī Station.
New to Tasman Forestry in 1983, it only spent 10 years with the company before being acquired by the short lived Pacific Rail Trust.
It spent another decade at the former NZR Diesel Depot with Mainline Steam before ending up with Dean in 2015. He kept it at Glenbrook Vintage Railway until 2020. It now lives at Goldfields Railway and can be seen running on certain days.
On this particular day, two years ago, Dean was the L/E, and in this image, he can be seen leaning out the cab window.

Yoshida Station.
