Fuck guys help me. My friend, we'll call her k, has been acting really weird lately. One of my other friends called me on the verge of tears bc she was being really mean and weird. I was at the roller rink and some girl complemented my hair and i fell bc im weak and i told k about it and she went into a 10 minute rant about how she hopes that girl would kill herself, which is relatively normal for her, but i was confused about why k was so mad at the girl. Okay this is making me emotional. the basic idea is that after gipsy danger goes down and his brother dies, raleigh stops talking - as in can't, not won't. he checks himself out of the hospital and drifts up the coast, picking up jobs here and there. yancy follows, always just behind him, heard but not seen. it's mostly disconnected snippets and emotional breakdowns so far. ya boy is Traumatized™️ and not even bothering to pretend otherwise

probably needs more specific yancy content bc i've mentioned him a lot but been kinda vague. i think raleigh's in alaska when pentecost finds him in the movie, so i'm trying to get him over the canadian border (tho, headcanon is the borders are a little less uh border-y now that they're trying to build walls to keep kaiju out. i know the jeagers are very "hoo rah our nation is the best" and that's fine but that's Big Government. the first chapter or section or whatever is from rodney's perspective and probably the only one from his perspective bc it's before his brain totally overloads and i don't think i could convey what his worldview looks like after. it probably wouldn't be fun to read, bc it would just be fragments and splinters of thought and feeling. lots of confusing run-on sentences. i like writing that kind of thing, don't get me wrong, just not when the character going through it is a math (amongst other things) genius and i flunked algebra lol

this is a pair of angst filled drawings. So the girl on the top is my gem oc royal purple saphrine (saphrines made by spookiemora) and saphrines eat saphires to steal there abilitys of future vision. So I have a human hybrid oc who's half saphire, and I wondered "what would happen if a saphrine tried to eat a hlsaphire human hybrid" and thus agst insued. The character with the gun on the bottom is Irene, who is the girlfriend of Sophie (the aforementioned saphire human hybrid). So yeah just some angst for angsts sake lol

Totally Killer (2023)

When the infamous "Sweet Sixteen Killer" returns 35 years after his first murder spree to claim another victim, 17-year-old Jamie accidentally travels back in time to 1987, determined to stop the killer before he can start.

JayBell: Of course I love a good time travel movie, and add in the comedy and horror move cliches and you've got the making of a good time.

And for the most part, this is exactly what this movie is. It's a bit campy and incredibly self-aware. And overall, the humor is pretty well done, and I only cringed at a few lines. Kiernan Shipka makes a great protagonist. They really dumb down the teenagers of the past, and sometimes it feels like she's the overstressed mother to a group of misbehaving toddlers. But I think she pulls off quirky, yet well meaning extremely well. She's very level-headed, and it's easy to root for her to find the killer and save her mom.

As for the mystery, I think the movie provides just enough subterfuge to leave you guessing a little. I mean it's a comedy above all, so any subtleness with the mystery is kind of unexpected anyways.

Now there was one major thing that bothers me. The movie does come right out and admit that time travel movies don't make sense and there is always plot holes. But I feel like they could have done a bit better at addressing them to placate viewers. For example, the main character goes back in time, doesn't disguise herself at all, and then interacts very closely with her parents and other adults in her life. So are you telling me that her parents and adults didn't think it was weird when she grew up to look and sound IDENTICAL to this girl who literally saved their lives and then disappeared? At least have her put a hat and some glasses on or something.

Anzie: This was a last second surprise pick when we had seen the promos for it right before the release. Bc ummm Kiernan Shipka first of all, Julie Bowen second of all, time travel, and a good who’s behind the mask/ whooose the killer?? Plus it was a comedy and we need that.

That being said I really enjoyed it and had a fun time trying to figure out who was in the mask and why they were killing this clique of girls. (I thought the molly ringwald/ heathers shoutout was cute). I think it’s both odd and relieving that they totally skip over that the friend’s trying to build a Time Machine to then five seconds after we find out about it’s existence- it does actually work. Bc my brain didn’t want to have to sort through all the time travel Mumbo jumbo.

Annnyyyways- the way this movie started and continued throughout was wayyyy different that I assumed going in, but not in a bad way it was just way more chaotic then I expected and I had no idea *spoilers* that the mom gets killed right off the bat. And I suspected almost every character in the movie, but the real deal was a little blehhh for reasoning- but nonetheless shocking.

* side note: I know that certain characters were supposed to be dumb and cringey and all that but parts-even tho intentional- came dangerously close to organ damage.

* and the house of dolls- barf.

hi, it me again (again)! about everything mia: i think it's all capcom being capcom about its female characters (remember Claire? Jill? Rebecca? Ada? literal mains and they've been gone for years from the games, it's all been chris and leon main and chris as the only main that appears in the last two, with Ethan as main; remakes not count) so what little they gave us is just ehh not enough for a full picture like you said; she was kinda interesting in 7 but sidelined in 8+dlc, and damsel in distress for both main entries. as capcom said they're done with the Winters for now... we may never know if there was something interesting like, oh she got reminded of Evie and trauma, or resentment because Ethan's dead after saving her, or just chris taking the bow child away because she's dangerous?? idk, capcom tell us! and stop sidelining your women characters!

no one telling Rose about Ethan in dlc just rubs the wrong way. like 16 years of nothing, no pics or stories... like they didn't even tell her he'd be proud of her? isn't that something most people tell kids with a dead parent? i am a sad panda (but it's narratively nice because she gets to explore his memories, that's so very private and adorable <3). like, I get it the memories are painful but taking away the kid's right to know? Right!? Someone, anyone, should have told her at least the bare minimum! If nothing else, to keep 'the asset' happy so she wouldn't become a problem. Like, if nothing else you'd expect them to at least use that logic if the problem was them not seeing her as a literal child. It's so very odd. I mean, it's obviously that way just so they can get that one cute scene (I too absolutely adore the childhood memories scene. was one of the best moments of the game really) but that doesn't work as well narratively-wise. Yeah that! I am, not good at remembering which ch knows what tbh. Too many wikia binges at 2am. Brain just accepted Chris knowing as Ethan knowing as well.
