Animal Crossing AU

I was thinking to call this AU "Less of a Nook, Double the Crooks" where the main thing is Tom Nook and Redd's beef never happened and Tom eventually became just like Redd. The two owns a shop in the black market together. Nothing matters to them except for bells and their loyalty to eachother. And yes, the tanuki and the fox still fight like an old married couple.

Due to this, Tom never adopted Timmy and Tommy. The twins were adopted by the Able Sisters instead. (Will be explaining further down below.)

Lyle was still once an insurance scammer who worked with the kitsune and tanuki duo but now owns the Happy Home Academy by himself. Without Tom, there is now a deadline/due day of rent, everyday of each playthrough [the player] needs to pay 15k bells.

Additional Fun Facts:

⚜️ Sable didn't liked the idea of adopting the two tanukis since they remind her of Tom so much and she knows they'll struggle to feed more mouths in one roof, but Mable kept insisting.

⚜️ Timmy and Tommy would still have the shop called "Nukkling Junction". The spelling is changed because of not being adopted by Tom.

⚜️ Timmy and Tommy, fell asleep on a fruit truck when they were desperate to find food in the city that went into Tom's home town.

⚜️ Redd tried to scam Brewster, failed because of Blathers... And then Tom successfully scammed Blathers (The quote "If a kitsune has 7 tricks, a tanuki has 8" is very much prevalent.)

⚜️ Tom does sell furniture.

➥ The trick here is that occasionally you would receive fake furniture that would be just a pile of leaves. You'd only know if the item is fake by placing it in your house, leave the room where you put it, then go back to see the said pile of leaves.

➥ I still have a few ideas but those are still uncertain.

⚜️ I do headcanon that Joan is Tom's parental figure (I'm a Wild World user lmao). And when Joan saw what Tom had become she was devastated and disappointed! She very much blames Redd on this one

⚜️ Pugsly is the one who will replace Tom Nook in the Resident Services. He will be there along side his sister because I want to give him the love that he deserves.

⚜️ Timmy and Tommy are older than their classic counter parts, they're around their teen years so to say. Even though their ages were not specified, their appearance would have some differences like they would be more taller, a little more chubbier since modern depiction of the tanuki yokai are usually fat (but hey, this is my hc for them!), etc.

⚜️ Tom does not know for the life of him to remember which is which with Timmy and Tommy. He kept confusing one over the other.

⚜️ Though, the twins still crave to have a parent figure that's the same species as them, they're still overall grateful for the Able Sisters taking them in

Eddie puts his hands on his hips, scandalized, and sputters for a good three seconds. “I do not make moon eyes at him!” He scoffs and shifts from foot to foot, suddenly nervous and on edge and feeling like he’s under a microscope. “I admire him from afar, there’s a difference!”

“Admire who?” a voice from behind him says, and Eddie jumps about a foot in the air.

He spins around and there Steve is, in all his tanned and slightly sweaty glory, carrying multiple boxes with the Nooks Cranny logo on them. Eddie hadn’t even heard the bell above the door make a sound.

He laughs nervously. “Steve!” he exclaims, a little too loudly. “What are you doing here?” He can feel the facepalm Chrissy would’ve given herself if she were here.

Robin only snorts and pushes past Steve to set her boxes down behind the counter. Eddie feels his palms start to tingle and sweat. He wipes them off on the leg of his cutoffs.

Steve raises an eyebrow. “Uh, I work here?”

“Right,” Eddie laughs again, “right.”

The store is silent. Eddie can feel the judging stares of Robin and the twins burning holes through the back of his t-shirt. Steve’s eyes dart from him to the rest of the boxes and he shifts the ones he’s carrying to get a better grip on them.

Get it together, Munson, you’re a man on a mission.

Eddie stands at attention and clears his throat into his fist, his other hand behind his back. With his eyes closed so he doesn’t have to see Steve laugh in his face, he says in his best voice, “Steve Harrington, would you be so kind to accompany me, Eddie Munson, to the fireworks show this Sunday eve, at 7pm? Your reply is requested posthaste.”

“Oh my God,” he hears Robin whisper as she tries to hold back her giggles.

13 things I notice between acnh and acnl

I was an avid fan of the animal crossing series, I had my chance upon getting the mobile Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, then I started playing New Horizons on the switch. After pouring in 300+ hrs total completing my island design and building and also getting the DLC to play with, I tried out and finally got New Leaf on the 3ds after to start playing. I knew that Animal Crossing New Leaf was the predecessor to New Horizons, and I was intrigued and interested in playing to see the differences and experience the game that had nostalgia of my childhood. I never got a 3ds but spent my childhood watching youtubers with their 3ds games and all the fun they had. After playing New Leaf for 2-3 weeks straight in, I noted that there were some differences, functionally and story-wise with the details. Both games are enjoyable in their own ways, and offers players options to consider on which game installment to play for — New Leaf for the coziness, interaction, nostalgia, and pacing — or New Horizons for the amount of fun you can have with growing, crafting, designing your island, and new graphics.

🍀1. The way that stores are introduced are different: In New Leaf, the stores are separated in another street to unlock and visit. In new Horizons, the clothing and nook store can be built on your island, however the other stores are separate from your island. Kicks, Harriet, Leif, Reese and Cyrus are all on Harvey’s island that you can visit on.

🍀2. In New Leaf, Timmy and tommy swap places in working at the store on different days you visit. Whereas New Horizons has the two twins both greet and run the store when you visit.

🍀3. Small difference but notable is that you start off with the title as mayor in New Leaf game, while in New Horizons you are invited to live at the island at first while having the most active role contributing to the island.

🍀4. The way you start off in the opening of the game is a bit different, in New lead you’re greeted by Rover on the train you’re boarding. In New Horizons you’re at the airport greeted by the twin raccoons, Timmy and Tommy.

🍀5. In New Leaf, the customization of some items and creative liberty are kind of limited. Whereas in New Horizons, there are a bunch of options to creatively design your island by placing furniture, changing colors, and designing your own home. Additionally New Horizons has the DLC (happy home paradise) which also allows the function eventually of capable of designing your villagers homes on your island.

🍀6. Both games officially have a separate installment that focuses on designing homes, ran by the happy home academy ppl. Happy home designer is the predecessor to Happy home paradise. To which, Happy home paradise has more options, items, and creative choices to edit, place, and change things when designing the homes.

🍀7. In New Leaf, Tom Nook is the owner of his own store that offers home expansion and customization for the player. Whereas in New Horizons, he resides in the office and works with Isabelle and is seen as a higher up giving tasks and directions to the player at the beginning of the game. However he still stays true to his og role in the previous game, where he also offers home customization and expansion to the player in New Horizons. (Regardless, you will always be in debt to Tom Nook wherever you go…)

🍀8. In New Leaf, Isabelle’s brother appears to introduce you to check out the HH showcase and has a more permanent role. In New Horizons he doesn’t appear as frequently and is not a stationed npc.

🍀9. The interaction with villagers plays a crucial role in New Leaf. If you never talk to a villager, at some point they will decide to move out and decide their moving day. Whereas in New horizons, the only way for a villager to actually leave is till they also question whether they should move out and you would have to give them an answer to stay or leave. They won’t just willingly leave in the end though compared to New Leaf.

🍀10. In New Horizons, you can craft, customize the color, and get DIY recipes from the beach or villagers. Whereas in New Leaf, new furniture and customization can be purchased in Reese’ store and customized by her husband Cyrus.

🍀11. The feature of multiplayer and online depth is included in both games, however New leaf Online services no longer are supported as of this day. While New Horizons has multiplayer still available on the switch. With online membership on the switch, New Horizons can allow the player to travel to visit other players’ islands and visit random islands through dreams. In New Leaf, for the online services, you had the HH Showcase to be able to visit other players’ houses locally near you and other features to host and visit other islands through dreaming and traveling thru the train via internet.

🍀12. In New Leaf, there is a possibility to chance upon a tree full of perfect fruit of the fruit you have on your starter island. These perfect fruit variations have a higher value than the regular fruits to which you can sell for a more heftier amount of bells. There are also the existence of durian trees, lychee trees, and mango trees in New Leaf if you visit the tropical island by paying Kappa to take you there. Whereas in New Horizons, you won’t be able to grow perfect fruit, and the options for fruit trees include just peaches, oranges, pears, apples, and cherries.

🍀13. Lastly, the dialogue and options to interact with villagers are a bit different in the two games. In New Leaf, you either have the option to talk to them or they bring up a request that you could fulfill and complete. While in New Horizons, after getting closer and talking to the villager you have the option of gifting them. In New Leaf, there isn’t a direct option to gift them when you go talk to them, but you can gift them through letters sent through the postal office. In both games, villagers will reciprocate and show happiness after being given a gift or completed a request by gifting the player something.

Overall, once playing through both games, it is clear that they both have different strongpoints while carrying the og similar traits and function. It’s interesting and satisfying to see the evolvement of functions and added improvements from New Leaf to New Horizons in terms of creativity and variety of choices in items, design, and collections. Both platforms had online services to allow interactions with a growing community, so whichever game you resonate with the most you can definitely enjoy either game to live out your animal crossing adventures 🌱🌼☘️

IM BACK AND I HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY!

So what were the experiments for exactly? To make mascots more “realistic?” Life-like even? To sell off as slaves or bodyguards on the black market? Or just to prove a point that life could be made from nothing?

Why/How did multiple establishments/businesses/attractions consent to this type of practice? Were those same establishments/businesses/attractions even aware such experiments were happening? The concept of rankings implies there are possibly hundreds of mascots that are infected, and under the assumption that at least one mascot belongs to a single brand, it’s possible that the entire business-world of Japan was aware of everything.

If the answer to 2 is no, then what kind of company/lab would do experiments like this? Who was behind it all and why?

How were the experiments conducted? Were actual humans involved? Were they dead or alive? Since the mascots can think and talk, it could imply human sentience. Or is the flesh part associated with the mascots respective animal? (This could specifically only apply to Apex mascots, I have no idea) Or was it just explained with “science stuff?”

Not a question but a fun idea. The Tanuki concept got me thinking of Tom Nook from Animal Crossing. He could run a safe space for survivors where him and Isabella treat them well/give them protection from the murderous ones. The catch is that you have to pay him actual money. No one knows why he asks for it, but you have to give him some or else he turns you away. If you try to get in without paying or after he said no, well… Let’s say you’ll get a visit from the twins.

the mascots were made for the sake of it. also money, kinda, but not really? it'll make sense later. probably.

you'd be surprised how many popular companies want their face on the apocalypse. but let's just say they weren't super aware of what the mascots were going to be used for.

so the rankings go like this, primarily: super popular, big company mascots get to be apexes (you pay more, more effort is put into your mascot). however some, like Uzu, who is from a small fishing town, get put into a random drawing. if your small company or town gets drawn, congrats! your mascot gets to be an apex. and no, the small time towns and companies don't know about this.

some human dna was involved in the experiments, yes. but it's mostly just a mish mash of "who cares, it's sci-fi."

ill probably draw it at some point, but lesser mascots (who don't always hail from anywhere, sometimes they're just randomized) emerge from mass spawn points. these points are nigh impossible to find.

and yeah, the nin/tendo equivalent of this world would probably pay to bring some of their poster characters to life.

as for who's behind all this....we'll get to it. eventually.

David - I'm not sure why but he seems kind of like a "How to" youtuber. If someone needs or wants to do something, he's the channel to go to because God damn he's going to do it right and so should you. Does Angel bomb or feature in his videos, usually as an example of what not to do? Absolutely.

"And that's how you fucking do it. Thanks for... Angel what the hell is that?"

Angel- minecraft channel 100%. They also do an 2 ongoing minecraft series. One is just them playing and another one is them trying to convince David to play. Most of their channel is mostly variety if they're being honest since their interest and focus jumps from one thing to another, But they always make a comeback to Minecraft. Sometimes Animal Crossing too. They have a love-hate relationship with Tom nook.

"Listen here you little gerbilfucker, I know your being cheap with those bells. I worked hard to catch this spider and you're going to give me what I'm owed."

Asher - Are you kidding me? Gaming Channel obviously. Does this even require explanation? As long as it can be competitive, there's going to be videos of it. He tries to get Baabe to join in, but they tend to play for a bit before just attempting to sabotage it. They find it funny.

"Oh come on Baabe! You practically handed the other team that kill. We coulda won."

"Yeah but there's no fun in playing the game."

"Thats like... the entire point though."

Baabe - arts and crafts Channel. Fuck five minutes crafts, theirs actually work. Baabe has a stressful office job that saps at their creativity. They want some time where they can just unwind and let those creative juices flow. Then they get to see some fruit of their labor.

"More glitter. There can never be too much glitter. Unless your partner is around. My boyfriend tried to eat glitter one time. So make sure they won't eat just anything when they're hungry before you pull out the glitter."

Milo - adventure channel. He loves exploring new places, preferably outside, and showing off how fucking awesome forests are. And the tree facts this man has? They're insane. He's the tree man. Sweetheart likes taking him urban exploring (going through abandoned buildings) and scaring the shit out of him though.

"It's kind of cool to see how the architecture can- oh Jesus where did they go now? I swear this is the only reason they would break a law, just to scare me."

"Boo!"

"OH FUCK ME"

Milo also has a permanent collab with Sweetheart about the glory of Aggro.

Sweetheart - ghost channel mostly. They have an ongoing series where they're just scaring people through pranks though. Sometimes they get Angel and Baabe to join in. But they will totally try to find ALL the haunted locations. They'll review scary movies and books too. Anything to do with horror and the paranormal is right up their alley.

"How does David even react to being scared, Angel?"

"You'd think I know? I don't know how to sneak up on him with how good his hearing is."

"Oh God I hope this doesn't break covert. I'm live right now, and my sergeant would be so pissed at me."

They have yet to break covert and everyone has just brushed the weird conversations off as normal. After all what kind of person obsessed with this kind of thing like Sweetheart is can be labeled the typical normal?

Sam - Sam can really only do a lot of things at night, so he's more of a comfort channel. He'll just go live with Darlin, Vincent and/or Lovely, and some of the other mates to just chill and talk. He'll sometimes play games but not often since he's not that confident in his ability to play. But he enjoys a good chat and being able to hang out with his friends.

"Vincent. Just admit you can't drive stick and we can move on."

"Sam I will literally break your elbow. I can drive stick, I just prefer not to."

"Right.... because you can't drive it."

"SAM!"

Darlin - quite the opposite to their mate, Darlin is a self defense channel. They don't want other people to get hurt after their friend did. And they can't really help thinking that if their friend knew more moves to fight against Quinn, they would have gotten less injured. It's an irrational thought but they can't see anything wrong with putting the information out there at the very least. David often helps them, or Asher. Milo doesn't have a wish to be put in a chokehold by the nicknamed "Tank".

"Now if some asshat is chasing you with a knife, you should try to figure out if you're faster than them. If you can run, you probably should. Knives are hella sharp and it hurts like a bitch when they stab you. Trust me, I've had my fair share of encounters."

They like the chill streams with Sam though, especially if they can convince him to give them a massage.

Christian - let's be honest, his entire personality is that he's better than Asher. So he's another gaming channel, but he's in a constant beef with Asher about who's the better gamer.

"What? Asher got third place? Of course he did. He's a total noob. I, however, am not and I'm going to get first place. Beta my ass."

Amanda - baking channel. She just wants to be able to chill and make sweet things for her loved ones. Christian will sometimes join her and be her official taste tester. The flirting and sexual tension is noticed by all the viewers, no matter how much the two try to "hide" it.

"Macaroons tend to be kind of difficult, especially for people just starting out. But practice makes perfect. Plus if you like paying attention to little details, I totally recommend making them."

"I like paying attention to every detail of you, Amanda."

"O-oh!"

Arden - while Sweetheart is a sometimes prank channel, Arden is a dedicated prank channel. She gets the Stealth to join them a lot of the time too. But while Sweetheart focuses on pranking someone in real life, the viewers aren't even safe from this evil genius. They will upload "PSA"s made specifically to prank the viewers before most of them realize it. And yes, there is an ongoing series of her bullying Christian.

"Guys! You know how Asher's partner makes cool arts and crafts? Well they showed me this super cool way to get tin foil really shiny. All you need is a microwave!"

Strange things in animal crossing-

As you probably know Animal Crossing got popular again around the time of the pandemic so just like anyone else looking for a fun new game to try I decided to play it for myself. I used to play the older generations so it was nice to feel a sense of nostalgia. Although I should mention I got it from Gamestop, I saw it in the return bin. When I asked about why it was in return the guy working just said the person returned it saying it wasn't for them. I had figured he meant they didn't like the game, I was wrong. Upon opening the box there was a faint odor of battery acid, I didn't think much of it since the game cartridge itself seemed fine. I put it in my switch and it opened like normal. The familiar Animal Crossing music played as I set up my account. Everything was working as it was supposed to no problem.

I had been playing nonstop for about a month, building up my island with new decorations and even finding some pretty cool villagers such as Punchy, he's my favorite. After a while I got kinda burnt out and didn't play it for a while, a few months at most. When I think back to it there might have been a few glitches in the beginning as well. The game loaded up like normal playing the theme, as it panned over an area of my island I noticed I didn't see any villagers which wasn't super out of the ordinary since that specific part of my island was somewhat hard to access without a ladder. I was skipping through the morning announcements not really paying attention when Issable stopped talking. I thought she was done with announcements, she started at me with a blank stare almost like she was looking directly at me. She made a shocked expression and went back to talking. I remember thinking that was strange since I never remembered her doing that before although it had been a while since I had last played it. “Maybe it was an update” I thought to myself as I continued into the main game. Once it was loaded, my character stepped out of the house with long, rough hair and shook their head. I remember seeing it on a video so I knew it was a normal thing, kinda funny as well. I started running around looking for Punchy to give a gift I had meant to give to him earlier when I was playing. I didn't see him anywhere, in fact I hadn't seen any of the villagers. I was beginning to wonder what was going on, I made my way to the row of houses I lined up. Cookie,Pancetti,Diva,and punchy. I ran over to Punchy's house and knocked on the door. A note popped up “running around, see ya later nyaa - punchy”. Weird, I hadn't seen him. I went to the other houses and they all had a similar note about being out or running around. I eventually just ran around till I eventually found them. They were all in the plaza, I didn't think they could even go into the plaza. Is that a thing? Once I went in they all looked at me with blank stares slightly unnerving. I exited out of the plaza needing to get some things at the Nook store anyways. Timmy and Tommy greet me like normal. I go over to the tool kiosk and purchase an ocarina. Timmy and Tommy start coming towards my character but it was as if they were moving extremely slow like they were stuck or maybe clipping into the floor a bit. I successfully purchased the ocarina despite them making a strange expression at it, has anyone else experienced that before? This is all new to me- maybe its normal after all I know there were some updates. I kinda shrugged it off as them being the weird twins of the game. I ran around for a bit after that and closed out of the game. I’ll update you all when I play again. This is all really weird to me.

Hi its the Animal Crossing Anon again, I totally forgot to say where Nooky is Ticklish at

Main place his soft tummy, but sides Are also good. A unique spot is behind his ears. Tickle lightly and Tom gets adorable giggles.

Now for another Headcanon, Since Tom is a Tanuki he's a Yokai so he probably has supernatural powers. The obvious answer is he can shape shift and mimic someone, but I think he rarely uses that power after dealing with Redd.

I believe he can teleport around if need be, and turn a leaf (like a random leaf off of a tree) and turn it into an item, like a feather duster. Personally, I don't see him using his powers all that often because it wears him out. If you wanna see someone abuse their powers though, Look to the twins.

I know fuck all about Animal Crossing but please tell me about BugBear two: electric boogaloo Warbelle!

No, it basically is BugBear 2: Electric Boogaloo. You can say it, I'm a big girl, I can take it. 😂

Warbelle consists of Isabelle and Wardell.

You *probably* know Isabelle despite not knowing Animal Crossing, but in case you don't, she debuted as the mayoral assistant in New Leaf (to pretty much the immediate adoration of the fandom, if I recall correctly 😂), and now works alongside Tom Nook in New Horizons. She's very bright, cheerful, sweet... and constantly working. She wears many hats and practically seems to work 24/7 to keep the town/island running nicely. She'd give you the shirt off her back without hesitation, if she thought it would help.

Wardell just debuted in the New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC (where you design vacation homes for people), but I adore him so so much. He's a sweetheart. He doesn't say much... Usually not more than a sentence and he speaks very slowly, but he's also quite helpful. He, unlike Isabelle, likes to slow down and take breaks from time to time. Listen to the sounds of the waves, and relax in the ocean breeze...

I'm sure you see where this is going. Wardell could get Isabelle to sit down and take a goddamn break, and Isabelle could do the talking for him in situations where he'd need some vocal support. A much much simpler version of BugBear, the problem is getting the two to meet. (which I do not believe they have canonically interacted yet!)

I imagine they'd meet by chance, perhaps Tom Nook sends Isabelle to retrieve some paperwork from Lottie (she, Wardell, and a third character named Niko all design vacation homes together. Lottie's the one in charge of Paradise Planning), and she'd bump into Wardell. Despite his shy silence and her mile a minute cheerfulness, the two would hit it off instantly. Wardell seems distracted and lost in daydreams after she leaves, and when Isabelle gets back to the Resident Services building she will just not shut up about Wardell. Tom Nook and Lottie talk later, and come to the conclusion that obviously they need to cook up a thousand more excuses to send Isabelle over to Paradise Planning for things. 😈 So it'd be those two pulling all the strings to push them together. Niko and Isabelle's twin brother Digby could also get in on the fun. It'd be super cute. 🥰🥰🥰
