'don't kiss me!' prank ft. hobie brown
♡ pairings & aus: hobie brown x fem!black!reader ♡ summary: you see a prank that a girl pulled on her boyfriend from tiktok, so you decide to try it on hobie ♡ warnings: very sad pouty hobie, reader being a bit of a meanie ♡ a/n: i loved writing this! thank you for your request! ♡ got a request? | masterlist ♡
Tumblr media
YOU KNEW IT WAS WRONG.
Okay, maybe not exactly wrong, but it was definitely morally cruel.
You had saw the TikTok while you were sitting on the toilet in Hobie's bathroom, chatting with him about any and everything while he showered. You decided to stay at his place because it was late and you had missed him, so you figured you'd just steal some of his clothes and sleepover for a night or two.
When the idea came into your head, you slumped back onto the toilet seat and pretended you were just watching videos about makeup so that Hobie wouldn't be suspicious.
"Can you hand me my flannel, lovie?" He requested, and you sighed at the use of his slang that you've had to pick up over the last six months. You grab his towel and throw it over the curtain rod. You hear him suck his teeth, "Why do you have to be so annoying, eh?"
You hum with a grin, "Dunno. At least I'm not boring."
Hobie pulls the shower curtain back, and you nearly bite your lip.
This challenge was going to be hard.
The towel that you handed him was wrapped firmly around his waist, his chest glistening to the water droplets that reflecting from the bathroom's cheap lighting. He walks over to you, ready to kiss you, but you stand up and cough. "Um...I'm..hungry. Yeah, I needa' snack."
"Did you not just see what I was tryna do?" He almost pouts, following you into the kitchen, "I wanted to kiss 'ya, then you left."
You grab a bag of chips from his pantry, sitting down at one of his island stools, "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice."
Hobie hums at you, walking back to his room, "Whatever."
You were sure that you had already made him upset. He wasn't always in a clingy mood- actually, mostly rarely- but when he was, he was upset if he didn't get what he wanted.
And although you did feel like you were being mean, you needed to get the prank on video to show him, and to laugh at later. So you rose from your chair and ran after him into the bedroom. He had on simple black pajama pants and no top, his hair pulled up in a bun. He was fiddling around with his guitar while sitting on his bed, so he didn't even notice when you propped up your phone and pressed record on your video app.
You winked at the camera when you did it, sliding onto the bed with him. He stopped playing.
"So why can't I kiss you?" Hobie asked, "Does my breath smell bad? Swear I just brushed 'em, love, so I know that isn't it."
"It's none of those things," you assure him, tapping your nails on the outskirts of his guitar. Usually he would flip if someone did that, but with you, he didn't really mind.
You saw him lean closer to you, and then his eyes start to close, and you rested your palm on his chest as you pushed him away. He gives you a watery-eyed look, "Okay, Y/N. D-Did I do somethin'? Because you're not wantin' to kiss me at all. Talk to me, yeah? Please?"
His big hands are cupping either of your cheeks as he looks at you intensively, and you can't help but break. You lean in, your lips connecting with his. You expect the kiss to be warm and light, but Hobie had a different motive. His right hand left your cheek as he snaked his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to deepen it. A satisfied sigh leaves you as that same hand finds one of your braids. He twirls it in his fingers, pulling away from you, "So now you want to smooch me, hm? What's the matta'?"
You laugh, your head being thrown back at how humorous the situation was to you. Hobie's straightfaced, though, and he's not laughing when you look up again. You cup his cheek, your other hand pointing to your propped up phone, "Look, baby, it was a prank!"
Hobie gives you a playful slap to the shoulder, "Don't do that again, love, yeah? Was bloody painful."
You laugh, leaning in as you kissed your boyfriend.
"Don't worry, I won't." You smiled.
And maybe you wouldn't deprive him of kisses again, but when the time came, you'd definitely be playing more pranks on him sooner rather than later.

— — — — — — — ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ — — — — — — —
the sounds of chatter filled the air. gossip. boys fawning over female genitals and being overall.. disrespectful
well? seems like a normal day for M/n L/n.
well obviously , m/n l/n was apart of these cliques. socializing and gossiping with his friend. he's a popular one.. and this caught the attention of many..
he heard his name everywhere. everyone knew his name 'm/n! ' ' ohh m/n! ' he was slightly tired of it. but, he enjoyed the attention how everyone knew his name how popular he was he loved. it.
but one didn't he found it annoying.. so annoying... that was aomine daiki. he was tired of having to hear the name m/n constantly even his own teammates had said it.
' yo , did u see m/n today? ' ' that clip m/n posted on his ig was funny as hell ' ' i wonder if m/n wants to try out basketball we could teach him? ' > <
?? that's funny..
— — — — — — — ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ — — — — — — —
aomine grumbled as he jumped onto the small platform placed on the roof top. he was tired. no not because of basketball , how would thee aomine daiki get tired over basketball? exactly. he never did. never..
infact he was tired of m/n l/n and his stupid name. what was so special about this.. nobody?
he ice skates? so? i play basketball..
aomine though wasn't aware that he was exactly the same. let's move to m/n's point of view shall we?
stupid fucking aomine.. him and his name everywhere.. whats so special about him?
it seems the two have mutual feelings? and the same thoughts about each other.. woah
enemies.
how silly...
M/n was heading to the ice rink he goes to , to practice. He carefully made his way on roller skates. humming a random tune. He had finally arrived at the skate rink stepping inside quickly making his way towards the lockers.
After doing his usual routine , he glanced around. Usually his skating partner would arrive earlier but it seemed that they were absent... He didn't think to much of it but had a slight ping of worry , it was unusual for his colleague to never show up for practice. M/n was now finished with his routine , stepping out of the locker room and slowly making his way towards the rink.
'hm? oh momoi-san! hii! ' the figure skater halted as he saw a familiar pair of pink hair enter the rink. a smile on his face as he made his way towards her , though it had slowly faded as he saw the also very familiar dark blue hair alongside her.
aomine daiki was picking his nose. ' eugh... ' m/n shivered in disgust though finally arriving infront of momoi. she was grinnning happily and both aomine and m/n knew what she was gonna say wasn't going to be a good idea.
'n/n! dai-chan and i need your help!' she exclaimed though aomine shook his head ' i beg to differ.. though i have no idea to what you are trying to do...'
he sniffed his nose after finally NOT stuffing it with his finger flicking it somewhere...
' well! i was thinking that maybeee you m/n could help dai-chan study! he really needs it and you both are basically the same though specialize in different athletics and you on the other hand are really smart n/n! dai-chan really needs it... '
momoi quickly explained the ice skater could barely keep up with what she was saying...
' i mean i guess though i don't think me and aomine get along well.. at. all. ' m/n shrugged stepping off of the ice carefully slipping them off.
his feet were stinging from the previous moves he was doing though he was used to it.
'hahh.. i mean it can be a way of bonding trust me! ' momoi grinned looking towards the tanned basketball player. 'well? what do you say! it could really help you... '
aomine only shrugged ' i don't care if i get kicked off for my grades.. their loss.. '
momoi didn't take that nicely. smacking the back of aomine head , m/n only watched mentally laughing at the basketball player as he winced.
' fine..! good god... i guess this nerd can tutor me. ' m/n kicked the basketball players leg with his barefoot. well.. not bare but you get what i mean.. hopefully.
aomine grunted smacking the back of m/n's head exactly how momoi did it. which earned a punch to HIS and M/N's head from momoi curled up fist.
'QUIT IT YOU TWO!! '
..hm those two are interesting.. but those two were in a room studying like momoi wanted them too.. more specifically m/ns room. It was simple , clean , and very neat a nice satisfying smell of something.. fresh? filled the room, it fit m/n perfectly.
' i cant believe im doing this... what's your grade in english hm? ' m/n had muttered the first part though it was loud enough for aomine to hear. he rolled his eyes ignoring the comment ' D ' he answered. simple and dry. that ticked the skater off though he kept his cool. ' and whats your lowest grade and your highest grade. '
' my lowest is D which is english. and highest is A in gym. ' obviously... m/n only rolled his eyes of course this hunk had an A in gym.. though its quite surprising.. this thing? having a good grade.. what a joke..
' I suppose we can start off with english.. ' ★
pov . m [ a short time skip. ]
it's warm. thats.. weird. I slowly cracked open my eyes as my vision was blurred. the room was dark , and i tried remembering what had happened. well . from what I recalled...
! ★ fb ★ !
' were done for today.. you can head home now. ' i mumbled my eyes were heavy and head was banging from how absolutely stupid this fucker was.. he can't even understand a simple equation?
'oh? that's some way to treat your guest.. its 1 am n/n. ' i scoffed. who let him called me n/n? i definitely didn't.. ' don't call me that or i'll start calling you dai from now on. get it.. because dai sounds like "die" hah... ' now I am truly losing it.
he only rolled his eyes and started.. stripping? out of his clothes only leaving his undergarments on ' DUDE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? ' I had finally realized the situation throwing a notebook at the boy. and of course he had dodged it ' well. im sleeping over considering it's 1 am.. ' he plopped down onto my bed and I could only roll my eyes. I grabbed a pair of sleepwear heading for the showers..
as I made it to the bathroom I turned the shower on stepping into it satisfied as the steaming water hit my body.. refreshing... I reached out for the bottle of shampoo putting a small glob onto my hand lathering it onto my hair.. the smell of roses calmed me. rinsing the shampoo out I had moved onto conditioner. and then body wash. and that is to when my shower ended.
I slowly stepped out with a towel drying myself , wrapping it around my waist afterwards. I had then moved to brushing my teeth and doing skincare.
after doing such i made it to my room quietly making sure to not wake up those who slept in the other rooms. stupidly unaware of the "sleeping" basketball player who was reading porn on his phone.. disgusting. turning on the light i stared at the blue haired man who was reading a porno.. he only stared back. ' nice body.. though these bodies are nicer.. ' he flipped his phone showing me, i immediately panicked ' YOU IDIOT! ' I threw the clothes I had in hand at him .
realizing what i had done i quickly made it to him grabbing the pair of clothes and his phone shutting it off slamming it onto the desk.
proceeding to change into my clothes WITH the light off. my hair now slightly dry though still wet. ' move over or sleep on the floor. ' muttering i could hear shifting and i put my hand down guiding myself only for my hand to touch the warm skin of aomine. ' I said move over you stupid fuck.. ' I could sense him rolling his eyes and smack his arm and he lazily rolled over.
atlas I laid down on the bed getting comfortable drifting off into a deep slumber..
so.. that's what happenedthat's embarrassing... where is he anyway...
lifting myself up i had realized i was laying on top of the stupid basketball player..

Um...yeah. This was funny to me so I wrote it. <3
Characters: Dazai Osamu
Contents: afab!reader, oral, workplace sex, Dazai being a whore...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dazai Osamu
There's no clause covering this exact scenario in your contract, but you're pretty sure what you're doing violates some kind of professional conduct policy. Or maybe health and safety. Unfortunately, you don't have the mental bandwidth to worry about the terms of your employment right now.
"You'e so wet already," Dazai hums from underneath your desk. A chuckle. "And at work, too? Naughty."
It all started when Kunikida announced that he had a dental appointment during his lunch, followed by a stern lecture to Atsushi and Kyoka about the important of flossing. The two orphans had a spotty history of dental care, since surviving took precedence over gum disease. Incensed, Kunikida dragged the pair of them with him for a check-up.
That was the first domino. Next up, Yosano decided she was going to go shopping, and roped Kenji in as her pack-mule, a role he was only too happy to fulfil, while telling her stories of Minty, his actual pack-mule back in his home village…
Then one by one, the rest of the Armed Detective Agency left on lunchtime errands of their own. The lively chatter of the office faded to nothing more than the clatter of your keyboard as you finished your report, and Dazai's soft snoring from the couch.
You'd resigned yourself to working through lunch. Maybe you could grab an onigiri from the konbini across the road and some iced tea.
A yawn pulled your eyes away from the screen. Dazai stood at the corner of your desk, rubbing at the back of his head. He blinked sleepily at you, smiled, then glanced around the office.
"I didn't nap for that long," he said. "Something big happen?"
"Nope." A shrug. "Everyone just decided to go out for lunch. Well, Kunikida's at the dentist."
"I'm sure that must be very exciting for him," Dazai drawled. "Were you waiting for me, bella? Shall we go out for a little lunch date, hm?"
You rolled your eyes, smiling faintly. "No can do. I've got way too much to do and your idea of a lunch date would stretch out all afternoon. I don't need Kunikida on my back about this report. It's already late."
"Tsk, tsk, paperwork is very important."
"Which is why you dump it all on Atsushi?"
"Exactly!"
Dazai sighed, perching himself on the edge of your desk. He amused himself for a couple of minutes by leaning over and pushing all of Kunikida's pens slightly out of alignment, but quickly grew bored of that. Things were quiet around here lately, and he found himself uninspired by the tedious requests that were coming in. Some people seemed to think the Armed Detective Agency were a cleaning service or private detectives who would catch their spouse cheating. Dazai had argued that they could do a honeypot sting for those, but was shot down viciously by Kunikida. Spoilsport.
His gaze slanted toward you. "Are you sure you don't want to go out?"
You shook your head. "I'll grab a snack over the road. I don't have time to eat out."
Dazai's lips curled into a smirk. "No? I do~"
You shrugged. He was a big boy. He could go to a cafe by himself if he really wanted to.
"Don't let me stop you."
You turned your attention back to your report, fingers flying over the keys. Dazai disappeared from your peripheral vision, so you assumed he had sloped off to find something else to amuse himself with. Well, you were half right. And that, dear reader, brings you to your current predicament.
Something brushes against your knee. You bounce your leg, assuming it's just one of the folds of your skirt, and it goes away. But then, something tickles your other knee. Annoyed, you reach down and pull your skirt away from your legs.
Another soft touch—a kiss—lands on your inner thigh.
"Wha—"
Leaning back, you peer down below the desk. Dazai's handsome face smiles up at you from between your thighs, looking as though butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. You stare at him.
"What…what are you doing down there?"
Dazai leans his cheek against your thigh, his wavy brown hair tickling your skin. His eyes are dark, hooded. "Exactly what I said I was going to do, sweetheart. Go back to your little report."
"We're in the office!" you splutter. "And how am I supposed to concentrate when you're doing that?"
"Not my problem."
Hands grasp you by the hips, and he pulls you to the edge of your seat, spreading your thighs wider apart. Warm breath washes over your inner thighs, followed by a playful lick at the quickly-dampening fabric of your underwear. You shouldn't respond so easily; it makes you feel so weak, but your body reponds to the promise of Dazai's mouth like Pavlov's dog to a bell.
He continues to tease you through the soft, damp cloth, drawing slow lines along your slit with the tip of his tongue. Dazai's thumbs stroke slow, tingling circles into the soft flesh of your thighs. Your muscles twitch in response.
Closing your eyes, you let your head rest against the back of your chair, and reach underneath the desk. Dazai's breath hitches as you root your fingers tight in his hair, curling them until pain prickles across his scalp. Oh, he likes it when you do that. His cock stiffens, a low groan working its way up out of his throat.
"Do you have something to say, bella?" he purrs. "Going to stop me?"
"We don't have long before Kunikida gets back," you say, pleased to find that your voice is still mostly steady. "Now's not the time to be playing with your food."
His eyes glitter in the darkness underneath your desk, his smile wicked.
"Scared of getting caught?"
"Scared Kunikida will wring your scrawny neck," you retort, letting go of his hair. Sliding your hand down the back of his neck, you pressed him closer to where you wanted him. "No teasing."
"So demanding today."
Dazai hooks a long finger into the crotch of your underwear and tugs it to the side, peeling it away from your damp flesh. He leans in. His mouth presses against you, full and hungry, like he's devouring a ripe peach. No slow, taunting licks. No working you up to it. You wanted him to get on with it? Dazai doesn't need telling twice.
His tongue slides between your folds, slick and hot and dragging upward. The tip curls, flicking against your clit at the top.
"Fuck." Soft. Emphatic. You grab the edge of your desk for support, the report wavering in front of your eyes. "Dazai…"
A soft snicker is the only answer he gives. Dazai nuzzles deeper between your thighs, slurping and sucking all the sweet flesh that's on offer for him. Your flavour coats his tongue; his mouth is watering, swallowing your taste down like honey.
"Mm~"
His deep, pleased hum vibrates into you, and he squeezes your soft thighs when you squirm, crushing them against the sides of his face. He'd suffocate himself down there if you let him.
Dazai laps at you, working his tongue across your clit with the same precision a master calligrapher uses a brush. He could be writing your name down there, or his, you'll never know.
"Goddamn it..."
You writhe in place, rolling your hips to try and grind against his tongue. You want, need, more pressure on your clit. You want his tongue, his fingers inside you. You want him bending you over the desk—
Dazai does something that makes white spots speckle your vision—he sucks your clit into his mouth, moaning around it, pulsing it with his tongue.
No cussing this time—just a sharp, wordless moan. Heat blooms in your core, up your neck, across your face. Sweat gathers at your temples. Your hands slip off the desk, grabbing at the arms of your chair.
"Keep it down, bella." His voice is dark, heavy, hot breath washing over your slick skin. "Someone might hear you~"
"Bastard..."
He dives back in, devouring you like you're like his last meal. Damn that man's mouth—it's always getting you into trouble in one way or another. You shudder as he sucks on that little pearl of hypersensitive flesh, letting it pop free of his lips, only to pull on it again. Your clenching thighs almost push him away, so he hikes it over his shoulder, keeping you nice and spread for him.
"Dazai..."
His tongue circles you, each little flick making you shudder. "Daz—Damn it, Osamu."
"Mmm?"
"I-I'm nearly—"
The door to the office swings open. Kunikida strides in, a newspaper and his notebook tucked under his arm. He approaches his desk, stops, frowns.
You stare at him in horror, flushed. Your stupid clit still in Dazai's stupid mouth.
"Are you all right? You look...ill," he says, pushing his glasses up his nose to get a better look at you. "My check-up found no issues, but Atsushi has four cavities that need to be filled. You'd think his weretiger abilities would prevent that, surely?"
"Oh...I'm...a little flu-ish?"
Kunikida glances around, frowning.
"Where's that idiot, Dazai?"
Where, indeed.
"He's...um...eating out?"
Something thumps against the underside of your desk, making the pencil pot jump. That was in fact the back of Dazai's skull. He presses his face into your thigh, biting down.
You feel his shoulders shake with silent howls of laughter.
Bastard.
Kunikida glances from you, to your desk, and back. Slowly, his eyes narrow.
"Um, I mean, he went out to lunch?" you say weakly. "He won't be back for a while."
Kunikida carefully picks up his newspaper and his notebook, and tucks them back under his arm.
"I'm going to go and check on Atsushi," he says crisply. "To make sure he doesn't transform and bite the dentist under the anaesthetic."
Kunikida glances back down at your desk.
"Sanitise the desk before you leave," he says. "I don't want anyone else to get...sick."

Interview Henry while he's Drunk (+inspo questions!) || @tiderider
“What made you come to the Isle?”
Tumblr media
Henry hummed, low and contemplative, as his chin sank onto his folded arms. He was forced to look up at Harry. It was easier to focus, this way, ignore the tilt of everything else. Easier to study the intensity Harry wore like a well-tailored suit. A second skin. A first skin, even, natural or something nearly like it.
  “They forgot,” Henry said.
And that was another thing about sitting this way, all folded over and stretched out at the same time. Head listing to match the weird slant of things that had spun 'round the other way again. That was the thing- it was a new angle to new angles. New view of hidden.... at least, not quite obviously presented facts to questions that could have been idle conversation. Simple curiosity. But oh so very much were not: he was being tested. He knew it, and still found the question curious anyway. To be issued a test at all, knowing or unknowing. What could he do either way, when he didn't yet know what it was that Harry Hook even was, or wanted from him. What he was testing for, here, where even the drinks hit back.
He was dizzier than he thought he'd ever been before. Henry gave in and laid his head all the way down, closing his eyes. So that he could think without the distraction of all that intensity. Still, it took a dragging second (in which he frowned lightly, and resettled his head) before he remembered he had to speak aloud for Harry to hear him. He opened his eyes again.
“Those four...flagshipped Ben's idea. An' then... all anyone said was about the Isle. The rest of 'them', still here, whether they should.. be there. Mostly whether they should be sent back... but it was. Something. Something...” That no one had ever spoken about for, so openly. Just how evil are these kids? Mostly asked as hyperbole, but still, being asked. And then- “Then... the coronation. An' Maleficent gone. Barrier restored an' .. it stopped. They stopped.” He gestured, annoyed. “They forgot. The Isle jus'... disappeared. But I couldn't.. couldn't stop. Thinking about it. About you.” Not, strictly speaking, Harry, and yet... exactly him. The ones left behind and smothered for no fault of their own. He sat up now, light frown now fully formed, indignation lending focus and animation to what had previously been a very sleepily slipping Henry. “I've never.. never known what t'do about it, you know. No voice there—
Tumblr media
'You know they moved everyone? Mm, all of... all of Shipwreck. Stuck half of us on the isle and the other half on the island and... named it. Painted it... like a park, an attraction. There's two kinds of pirate now, mind you, the kind that hunt children n' the kind that... drink and sing funny songs. Rooted everything else up! Called it justice. Sent Jack here for what happened to my father, but didn't do a thing to undo it until mum cornered them into it.” He gave a wordless noise of displeasure, shaking his head sharply. It was just a wave now. Something he couldn't have stopped if he tried, the words simply rushing forward, crashing out. “I never.. knew what I could do about it. Any of it. 'Til they forgot and I figure... figured I'm old enough. Strong enough. To do something from here. Probably ought to have been here anyway. From the start. Hm-
'I came.. because the walls- the barrier. The isolation. The way they forgot. That's all...something made- forced. But every wall's got holes in it, mm? They make it hard to find 'em, but ... if it was impossible, really impossible, for me to do anything... I couldn't be here could I? I can't pull it down, like that- I don't have. The...” He didn't know what to call it. Only knew it was neither a skill he possessed nor a thing he'd be right in trying to do, taking that lead. “But I can prove the holes are there. An' I can prove not everyone forgets, not everyone out there stands with the crown.” What thing, to make crown an insult like that. “Maybe it takes another twenty years 'fore this goes anywhere else, I don't know, but 'long as I'm here there's no one can say "it cannot be defied" is there? Can't say nobody looks, nobody remembers, nobody cares. You've got proof someone does.” He shook his head again. Something. It was something. And that was better than nothing, wasn't it?
“It was all I could think to do. Help here, if I could.”

“Did you guys find anybody?” Felix’s voice sounded out when the man repeated the same question for what seemed like the third time since he joined the call. The number of players showed 7 of them, which meant that they were still missing three people. Sure, they could start the game now, but it would be way more enjoyable and funny with a full lobby.
“Yeah, Toast will be here any moment. “Sykkuno replied right away. “He just texted me; he should join us in a few.”
“Cool. Anyone else?”
“I think Corpse was also supposed to join us, right? Not sure though why he isn’t here yet.”
“Oh, yeah, Corpse will be here soon too!” Jack suddenly chimed in with an explanation. “He said he needed to take care of something first, but he’ll be here before we start.”
“Great. But that means we’re still one person short.” Felix hummed when Toast’s little astronaut appeared in the lobby “Hey Toast."
“Hey man.”
“Do you have anyone coming?”
“I’m afraid not. I asked MrBeast, but he’s busy, so...”
“Well then, we can just start when Corpse is here, and maybe we’ll find someone in the meantime?” Dave suggested, earning a few hums of approval from the other players.
“Yeah, I think that’s the best option...” Jack agreed. But then his voice blared out in everyone’s headphones with excitement. “Ha! Corpse is bringing someone!”
“Who?”
“I dunno, he just texted me he has one coming and that’s all.”
“Hm, all right. Let’s wait then.”
***
Corpse fidgeted with his phone, glancing between its screen and the chat in his stream. People were already asking countless questions, but rather than answering them, he was waiting for Y/N to call him. He was nervous - the girl still hadn’t commented on his request.
The idea to invite her to the lobby wasn’t spontaneous. In fact, he’d been thinking about it for quite some time now, but never found the courage to actually ask if she would like to join them for the game.
It’s been almost a month now since that memorable phone call. A month since Y/N last played with her friends; a month since she considerably reduced her social media usage.
Sure, she was still active on her youtube channel, but not as much as before the whole haters situation. No matter how hard she tried to just ignore them and simply continue her career, she just couldn’t. There were still these nagging thoughts at the back of her mind, reminding her of all those people and their comments, their messages. It seemed like a good idea to take a short break and sort everything out.
Her fans understood it. They were obviously sad that her videos weren’t as frequent as before, but everyone knew what the situation looked like and that Y/N needed some time for herself.
Her audience knew it, and so did her friends. Especially Corpse.
The man kept his word and talked to the girl whenever she wanted to. Which, in the end, was almost everyday. Although at the beginning their conversations mostly focused on her current problem and dealing with it, their topics broadened over the time.
At one point though, Y/N started worrying that maybe she’s annoying him with her so frequent calls. She thought that she shouldn’t bother him that much - even if talking to him was what really helped her cope with her problems. He already had enough on his plate, and sharing her own concerns with him suddenly seemed like a very selfish thing to do.
But she quickly realized how wrong she was for thinking like that. When one day she didn’t call, figuring out that she should stop troubling him with her own issues, she was very surprised when Corpse reached out to her himself. He expressed how worried he got when she didn’t call, and when she explained what was the reason, he spent the next fifteen minutes lecturing her that she should never think she’s bothering him.
From that day on, they talked every single day. And they talked about almost everything.
Corpse enjoyed their late night-talks more than anything. He liked to listen to Y/N talk about the things she finds exciting, her hobbies, and her dreams. Hell, she could talk about what she ate for breakfast, and he would still listen with interest.
And even though they haven’t seen each other in person, even though she still hasn’t seen his face, they managed to get really close during those past weeks. For an outside observer (who also didn’t have access to Twitter) they would seem like a couple of very good friends.
But not for Corpse.
He couldn’t pinpoint when exactly did it happen. They were talking one evening and Y/N was telling him about the TV series she had finished watching recently. He listened intently and watched as her facial expressions changed from excited to frustrated, as she was enumerating everything she liked and disliked about the series finale.
And then he suddenly got this weird feeling in the pit of his stomach, and simply couldn’t take his eyes off her.
He tried to play it off and act as if nothing changed, but he couldn’t stop his heart from doing backflips whenever she laughed at one of his dumb jokes or called him partner. It was still a running joke between them and among the group of their friends, but there was something in the way she said it that made him instantly smile like an idiot.
He also started paying more attention to the hashtags on Twitter and Instagram. #PartnersInCrime was still rather popular, even though it was a month since anyone last used this phrase on stream. Corpse also found out that #Y/Nforthebride was trending for some time; he even managed to stumble across a few fanarts.
There was this urge to send them to Y/N, but he was too nervous that it would make things awkward between them... After all, he didn’t know how she felt about that whole shipping thing.
That’s why he decided to just leave things between them as they are, and be happy that he’s at least her friend.
Corpse nearly jumped out of his skin, when he was brought back to reality by the sound of an upcoming FaceTime call. Y/N’s photo appeared on his screen, her smiley face which he had assigned as her contact photo. His lips corners curled up in a smile almost unwittingly.
“Hey Y/N/N” he said after answering the call.
“Hi Corpse” she smiled softly upon hearing his voice. Although the screen on her side was dark, she didn’t mind not seeing Corpse’s face. She respected his wish to remain faceless and enjoyed their conversations anyway.
“Whatcha doin’?”
“Just editing the new video. I guess I’ll upload it in the morning... but I’m not sure yet.”
“Well let me know then, I wanna be the first one to see it.”
“Sure thing, Corpse” she chuckled, lowering her gaze bashfully. Corpse just looked at her face for a moment, unable to stop smiling to himself. Then he remembered why they were talking in the first place.
“So... have you seen my text?” Y/N sighed at his question but nodded her head slowly. “And what do you think?”
“I don’t know, Corpse...” she ran a hand through her hair in a nervous gesture. “...if that’s a good idea, I mean.”
“Well, it’s been a while. No pressure though, if you don’t wanna play then it’s totally fine.” he quickly clarified. “I just thought it would be fun if you joined us, even if just for a moment. I’m sure everyone would go crazy.”
Her smile widened slightly at his words, but she still didn’t look convinced. Sure, it was tempting to join them. She wanted to do it each time Sean or Felix bombarded her with messages and codes to the lobby, both inviting her to join the group in the game. But then she remembered how people reacted to her appearance in their streams... and suddenly it didn’t seem like such a good idea anymore.
“We’re gonna play on Polus...” he added after a moment when she still didn’t say anything. “That one map with the planetary base... there’s a lava pit, y’know. Just saying...”
She laughed wholeheartedly at his words, remembering their last game when Corpse jumped into the lava for her.
“Sykkuno’s gonna be there as well” Corpse continued. “And I promise I won’t kill you this time.”
“Even if I’m the last player alive?” she joked.
“Even then, Y/N.”
Corpse stifled a laugh, as she cocked her head to the side and narrowed her eyes slightly as if trying to spot him in the darkness.
“Are you streaming, Corpse?” she then asked.
“Not yet. I’m gonna start the stream as soon as you say yes, though.”
“Oh c’mon” she laughed at his words “That’s emotional blackmail!”
“Maybe. Is it working?” he asked.
Y/N let out a heavy breath and ran a hand down her face. Corpse watched in anticipation as she seemed to have some internal battle with herself. He hoped that she’s gonna agree, he really missed playing with her.
“All right, then.” she suddenly said, and his breath hitched in his throat. “I’m gonna stay for a few rounds I guess...”
“Wait, really?” he asked, a smile on his face only widening.
“Well, yeah, partner.” she replied, which made his cheeks go warm “Your imposter techniques haven’t been very effective lately... Someone needs to help you out, or you’re gonna lose your title of the king of the Imposters.”
“Oh, is that’s how it is now?” he laughed in fake shock. “I wouldn’t have to worry about losing the title if my accomplice hadn’t left me all alone!”
“All right, all right.” she giggled at his accusations. “Your accomplice is on her way to support you.”
Corpse smiled even wider at the sound of her laughter. Her eyes shined with happiness when she was giggling, which only brought out their E/C color. The fact that his stupid babbling was the reason for her smile was making him feel extremely proud of himself.
“But just so you know... I still have no idea how this map works, so I’m afraid I’m gonna need you to guide me around it...”
“Y’know you could as well just say you want to hang out with me...”
“Corpse!” she laughed, her cheeks blushing in embarrassment.
“Just kidding Y/N” he chuckled at her reaction. “Of course I’m gonna guide you, don’t worry.”
“Okay then...” she said after a moment, looking at the screen again. “I’ll be there in a few minutes. Will you send me the code, please?”
“Sure I will, Y/N”
“Okay. See you later, partner” she smiled brightly.
“See you, partner.”
When Y/N ended the call, Corpse let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. He sighed in relief and ran a hand through his hair, before moving to sit behind his desk.
It was only after he started the stream that he realized he was blushing. Not only because Y/N would join them, but because there was also another thing he wanted to ask her about, but didn’t find the courage to yet...
***
By the time Y/N turned on her computer and started the game, Corpse has already sent her the code, and there was a Discord invite waiting for her as well. She bit her lip nervously as her heartbeat quickened.
Was she nervous? As hell.
She did everything she could to avoid being in unnecessary spotlight since she started receiving those hate messages. Perhaps escaping the problem wasn’t the best solution, but it definitely was a comfortable one. People wouldn’t have a reason to hate on her if she disappeared.
But then she couldn’t say no to Corpse. And truth to be said - she really missed playing with her friends. From what she’d seen on Twitter, the lobby would be filled with those she’d already played with, so she wasn’t that nervous before the game. What she was nervous about though, was how people would react.
Accepting Corpse’s request was something she did due to the sudden rush of courage. And now there was no coming back.
She knew Corpse would understand if she changed her mind... but she heard how excited he was when she had agreed. She couldn’t do it to him.
So, once she’d taken a deep breath and put her headphones on, Y/N accepted the invite and braced herself for the inevitable chaos that was bound to take place in the call. She decided to wait with joining the lobby though - at least until they realize she’s with them.
“..the fuck you’re talking about?!” Felix’s voice was the first thing she heard, which made her roll her eyes with a smile. “It’s not my fault I sound like that! At least I don’t have a liar voice like Rae!”
“HEY!” the girl yelled “I don’t have a liar voice!”
“You do, you’re using it even now!” Jack argued, much to Rae’s dismay.
“What is going on here” Corpse’s deep voice sounded out suddenly.
“Oh, you’re here! Finally” Sykkuno immediately welcomed him with his always happy voice.
“Yeah, sorry that I’m late guys.”
“No worries, man” Pewdiepie spoke up again. “We were just talking about playing the voice card and that you’re basically the only one who can do it.”
“Not fair at all!” Rae chimed in, making Corpse chuckle.
“The voice card...” he hummed after a moment, before adding. “I wouldn’t really say I’m the only one though...”
“Well who else then? Everyone else either starts laughing or have a liar voice” Dave asked, and Rae scoffed at the last words.
“Well what about my guest?”
Y/N inhaled sharply, realizing that now she should probably reveal herself.
“Oh, right! Who you’re bringing man?” Sean asked with curiosity.
That’s when Y/N typed in the game code, and her white astronaut appeared in the lobby.
“Wait, who’s- HOLY SHIT” Sean all but yelled, when realization hit him. Y/N laughed loudly at his reaction, and her voice only seemed to prove to everyone that she really was there.
“KIDDO WHAT THE FUCK” Felix reflected Jack’s response, yelling over his friend.
“Oh my god, hi!”
“What a surprise!” Y/N managed to catch Sykkuno’s words. “It’s so amazing to have you here, Y/N/N!”
“As I live and breathe.” another voice spoke up, and Toast’s little astronaut came face to face with her white bean. “My lifelong nemesis. Back here snap my neck again, huh?”
“Yeah, happy to hear you too, Toast” Y/N giggled at his words, then she adressed the whole group. “Hi guys.”
“Okay I did not expect that in the slightest” Sean laughed happily “You’re here kiddo!”
“I am” she smiled from ear to ear, even though they couldn’t see her.
“Wait- Corpse, is that the thing you had to take care of?” her best friend asked Corpse with suspicious voice.
“Well...” he trailed off and cleared his throat, making everyone laugh.
“That’s so great Y/N! We missed you so much!” Rae thundered over the bickering of the boys. “The game hasn’t been the same without you...”
“Agreed. I suddenly stopped dying.” Toast commented, making her roll her eyes with a laugh.
“I don’t know if I should be happy or fucking scared right now.” Felix laughed nervously. “With Corpse and Y/N? We’re fucked now, guys.”
“I promise I’ll go easy on you, I haven’t played in so long I think I forgot all my strategies...”
“Yeah, sure.” Toast’s forever suspicious voice made her smile wider. “Just don’t kill me in the first roung, okay? I won’t vote you off just stay the fuck away from me you little murderer.”
“Okay, I promise I won’t kill you...”
She couldn’t stop herself from laughing, and the smile remained on her face even when they started the game. It only seemed to widen, when she saw the sign Imposter on her screen.
Only to giggle hysterically when she realized that Toast was the other imposter...
And so the game went on with Y/N and Toast cooperating like perfect serial killers. Corpse did as he promised and guided her through the map, both of them being closely followed by Sykkuno. Because of that she’d just sabotage the map most of the time to give Toast opportunities to kill their friends, but eventually managed to sneak out when her two fellow crewmates were doing their tasks. It just so happen that Pewds was walking past her, and she might’ve accidentally snapped his neck...
“Goddamnit! I knew it! I fucking knew it was you!” Sean yelled once the game was over and Y/N saw the sign VICTORY on her screen, her small character standing next to Toast’s one. He was ejected at some point because Poki managed to walk in on him killing Rae, but Y/N remained undetected until the very end. Perhaps the fact that Corpse was one of the two crewmates who were left alive had something to do wtih it...
“That was rude” Pewds said in a whiny voice, clearly referring to their encounter which led to his death. “I was just happily walking around, doing my tasks like a good crewmate, and then boom! Y/N happened”
“I would say I’m sorry... but I’m really not” she laughed, making Felix gasp in shock.
“That’s what happens when you work with Toast!”
“Good game, Y/N. That was amazing” the man in question said appreciatively.
“Will you finally forgive me for killing you that one time if I say that being imposters with you was cool?” she laughed nervously.
“Actually... Yeah, I guess we can bury the hatchet now. AND we should team up more in the future.”
“Great!”
“Excuse me, what?” Corpse’s voice made the whole lobby laugh. “I don’t remember us cancelling our partnership, Y/N.”
“Corpse...”
“Are you trying to steal my accomplice from me Toast?”
“Well she’s a great partner in crime after all...” Toast deliberately used the phrase, making Corpse gasp.
“Hey! She’s my partner! Find yourself your own, Toast” Corpse joked, making Y/N laugh bashfully, her cheeks warming up at his words.
“Yeah yeah, I remember, don’t worry man. No one’s gonna take your partner in crime away from you...” Toast’s teasing voice made them all laugh, Corpse and Y/N included.
For the next few rounds Y/N played as a crewmate, running around the map with either Corpse or Sykkuno and doing her tasks. During meetings they joked and laughed, and for a moment, she stopped thinking about what people watching her friend’s streams might think about her presence. After all, there was at least a small chance that they didn’t think about it at all, and simply enjoyed watching their favoirte youtubers. Just as she enjoyed playing with her friends.
Oh, and by the way, Corpse kept his promise and didn’t kill her even when she was the last player alive...
It was soon time when everyone started slowly leaving the lobby, having played for over three hours. Y/N also said her goodbyes to the others and promised that she’d join them to play a game called Raft next week.
When she turned her computer off and threw herself on her bed, Y/N immediately grabbed her phone to call Corpse. He answered right away.
“Well hello, partner...” she rolled her eyes with a smile when he accented the last word. “Or should I say, traitor, instead?”
“Corpse... you know I would never betray you...”
“Well how can I be so sure, now that I know how cool it is to be imposters with Toast?” she knew he was joking, she could almost hear the smile in his voice.
“Not nearly as cool as it is with you, Corpse” Y/N grinned from ear to ear when Corpse scoffed.
“I spare your life so many times and that’s what I get in return? You cheat on me with Toast?” he said in disbelief “I’m disappointed, Y/N, I really am.”
“I would never!” she laughed through her words, even though her cheeks were now red because of Corpse’s words. “You’re the best partner in crime, Corpse, I wouldn’t trade you for anyone else!”
Not only in the game, she thought.
“Hmm, alright. Let’s say I believe you.” he said after a moment of thinking.
“I mean it, Corpse...” Y/N said after calming down from her laughter. “I... I really wanted to thank you.”
“Thank me? For what?” he asked, genuinely surprised.
“Well, first of all for inviting me to today’s game... I really had lots of fun, it was great to play and talk with the others. And I wouldn’t be in the lobby if not for you...” Y/N mumbled, before verbalizing her previous thoughts. “And I also wanted to thank you for just... you know... being my friend. My real life partner in crime. I just wanted you to know I’m really glad I met you...”
Corpse was silent for a good few moments, and Y/N started panicking that maybe she said something wrong, or maybe he found her spontaneous confession funny, or worse, dumb. She was almost ready to somehow laugh it all off, when his voice cut her off.
“Thank you, Y/N. It really means a lot to me too.” he sounded like he had some troubles with speaking, which made Y/N furrow her brows in worry.
“Is everything okay, Corpse?”
“Yeah, I...” he stuttered, then laughed nervously. “I just didn’t expect that and... yeah. It’s not something I hear on a daily basis, especially from someone like you.”
Someone like me?
“But what you said... it’s mutual.” he said after a moment, and Y/N couldn’t stop herself from grinning like an idiot. “You’re the best partner in crime I could ask for. And not only in the game.”
She could as well just pass out there and there...
“So uhm... there was one thing I wanted to ask you...”
“Yeah?”
“I was wondering if maybe... you know, if you’d have some time... and if you’d want to of course... would you maybe like to visit me here in San Diego?”
Yeah, passing out seems like a good idea.

You loved the pogues. You really did. Their constant pestering and reminders of a certain crush you may or may not have had? Not so much. In your head, and even out loud sometimes, you had to reassure yourself it wasn’t true. There was absolutely no way in hell you could have a crush on JJ Maybank. And that is exactly what you would keep telling your friends.
You all were sat out on the Chateau’s porch, enjoying a hot afternoon with a few beers and the company of one another. Unbeknownst to you, it wasn’t a regular hang out. It was, as Pope stated, an intervention.
“Intervention?!” You exclaimed. “What exactly do I need that for again?”
“Would you like that alphabetically or in order of importance?” John B quipped in a serious tone.
“Ha ha. Very funny, John B.” You mocked. “Seriously, what’s this ‘intervention’ you speak of?” Your fingers came up to air quote the words as you grimaced, looking between Kiara, Pope and John B. “I don’t need help with anything.”
“You’re right.” Pope settled. “You don’t need help. You need to confess your crush on JJ."
A scoff left your lips as soon as the words fell from his, folding your arms across your chest. “Excuse me?”
“We know you like him, Y/n.” Kiara informed.
“No, you know what?” John B interjected. “She doesn’t like JJ, she looooves him.” He dragged out in a pesky tone.
“And I’m the one who needs the intervention? All three of you are insane.” You asserted.
Pope sighed. “We’re here because we love you, Y/n. Regardless if you love JJ more than us or not.” He chortled. “We just want you to admit it, it’s not healthy to keep inside.”
“You know, it’s sad that you all wasted your time jumping to these bizarre conclusions. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
They all gave you skeptical looks.
“You don’t?” John B asked.
“Nope. I do not like JJ. Not one bit.” You shook your head as you said your piece. “If anything, I hate him. He’s a big jerk who is always teasing me and trying to get under my skin.”
Kiara quirked an eyebrow. “Oh, really?”
“Denial.” John B muttered under his breath, masking it with a cough that earned a menacing glare from you.
“What do you hate about him, Y/n/n?” Pope inquired curiously.
“Well.. for starters, he’s never on time for anything. Horrible punctuality.” You began kicking a rock around on the wooden planks of the porch as another way to let out your so-called hate. “Or sometimes he doesn’t show up at all. Then he makes you worry about him and wonder where he’s at. Only to turn up fine in the next day or two.”
“Hm.” Pope hummed, taking mental notes as he studied your behavior.
“I hate the way he never brushes his hair. It’s like he’s a damn golden retriever. And the way it tickles when it brushes my forehead is so annoying. Not to mention when I find it on my hair ties after he steals them.” Not once did you look up, continuing your assault on the poor rock. “Oh! That’s another thing. He’s always stealing. Like when I was 8 and he stole my pet turtle Franklin right out of his tank. Because he wanted to make Franklin a cute bowtie to wear and surprise me with it, but still! He could’ve killed my turtle! I mean, who does that?”
You threw your arms up in exasperation, reading the mixed expressions on your friends faces. “I hate the way he purposely messes things up. Like when we go out to eat and then he drops his fries just to eat out of mine.” You went on.
“I hate that stupid necklace he wears. It’s always so dirty because he’s been wearing it for years but he always turns me down when I offer to buy him a new one. I hate when he randomly touches my shoulder so I’ll jump because of his cold ass rings. I hate how he’s such a player. Always flirting with any and everyone. It makes me want to gag, he’s so cheesy. Not only flirting with any girl in sight, but also trying to scare off guys that show even the slightest bit of interest in me. He never lets me have anything!”
You let out a sigh, taking a drink of water before continuing your ramble. As you were so in the moment, fired up at this point, you hadn’t noticed your friends whisper amongst themselves while staring behind you.
“I hate how he can never make up his mind. JJ has to be the most indecisive person on Earth. I hate when he hides behind doors and jumps out to scare me, while he laughs hysterically. I hate how he’s always sweet talking my mom, because now she’s convinced all of her friends and family that we’re together. Do you know how frustrating that is? To be mistaken for his girlfriend all the time?” You pause, beginning to breathe normally again from your rant.
“Do you even hear yourself Y/n?” Pope quizzed.
“What do you mean?”
“You have a crush!” He shouted, the others piping up with a few words of agreement. “What about Kie, or John B, or even myself bothers you that much?”
“Nothing.” You answered. “I mean, I’m sure there’s things that bother me but-”
“But not like how JJ bothers you.” Kie pointed out. “That’s a crush in disguise if I’ve ever seen one.”
“You know what?” You started, voice raising to more of a yell. “I do not have a crush on JJ. In fact, the thought alone disgusts me.”
John B rolled his eyes, throwing his head back in his chair at your stubbornness.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have actual productive things I’d like to do today.” Turning around to take your exit down the steps and towards your car, you gasped, bumping into the boy you knew all too well.
“Hey there, sunshine.” JJ greeted with a devilish grin. “Am I on that list?”
You scoffed, cheeks burning up as you pushed him aside. “Absolutely not. But you can add that to the list of reasons why I would never ever like you.”
“Aww, don’t be so hard on me, Y/n. I just had to hear almost every single reason why my best friend hates me.”
As fast as you were trying to get to your car, JJ was quicker, standing in front of the drivers side door with his arms crossed. Oh, how hard it was not to look down at them. But you hadn’t given in yet, so you’d be damned to give in now.
“Oh, you poor thing. It’s really me who needs the sympathy here, since I’ve been dealing with you for most of my life.”
“Ahh. It’s a shame you’re still mad about Franklin. Maybe we could be something.” He joked, referring to your childhood pet.
“You abducted him.” You shot back. “Even if you hadn’t, we’d still never be anything.”
“I have a hard time believing you really hate me, Y/n.” He looked into your eyes, peculiarity filling them.
“Oh? I could always refresh your memory.”
“You know, if I didn’t know any better, I would think you hate all of those things about me because I’m not yours.”
Your shoulders came up into a shrug. “Nope. Doesn’t bother me one bit. I just hate your guts. Could you move off of my car now? I have that list of productive things I should be getting to.”
He put his hands up in surrender, pulling on the door handle and opening it for you. “Fine, Y/n. You win.” He shut the door once you were in, leaning his forearms up against the already rolled down window to face you. “Just let me know if you reconsider adding me to that list.”
You returned the smirk he was giving you, turning the key as the engine came to life. “Don’t worry, I won’t.”
With that, you drove off, not once looking at JJ or your other friends in the rear view mirror. “Damn. I really thought that was gonna work.” Pope mumbled in disappointment.
“Sorry, JJ.” Kie apologized.
He shook it off. “It’s alright, guys. We’ll get her next time.”
-
A week passed by after that day, now having had some time away from the pogues. Or JJ, specifically. It gave you some time for reflection, time for realization. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad to admit you didn’t think of JJ as completely repulsive, but you had too much pride. There was no way he was going to win this, you’d never be able to live it down.
On your way to one of the local stores, you spotted JJ leaning up against one, presumably waiting for a ride. “Hey, JJ.” You spoke up, his eyes darting up at you from his fidgeting.
“Hey, sunshine. Whatcha up to?”
His lighthearted energy threw you off, even plastering a smile on your face because of it. “Just picking some stuff up for my parents. Boring errands. You?”
“Waiting for John B.” He informed.
“Oh, okay. I could wait with you if you want. I know I would hate waiting alone.” You offered, before your face went blank at his next words.
“Almost as much as you hate me?”
“Come on, JJ. It was just for fun. You know that, right?”
“Sure it was, Y/n.” He sighed disappointedly.
The old thoughts about pretending to hate him vanished, as it was only the two of you there. You weren’t putting on a show for anyone. “I was kidding. I don’t actually hate your guts. Because if I did, there’s no way I would become that close to you to know all of those things about you anyway. And there’s no way I would’ve let you meet Franklin.” You attempted to lighten the mood.
“Forget it. If you meant it or not, what difference does it make?”
You exhaled sharply, squeezing your eyes shut as you debated your next words. “It makes a difference to me. Maybe I was being a little dramatic when the pogues asked me about you.” He stayed silent, blue eyes shining perfectly due to the golden hour of the sun. “You’re not gonna ask me what it was?”
“It’s not important, Y/n. Not with the way you feel about me.” He muttered, kicking a pinecone up with the tip of his shoe.
“JJ, you are so difficult. And for that, I’m going to tell you anyway. They asked me if I liked you.” You waited for a response, but he didn’t grant you one like you’d hoped. “I panicked and started thinking of something to convince them I didn’t like you. And convince myself, too.”
“So, you do like me then, huh? I thought it was all a big myth.” He questioned nonchalantly, main focus still on that damn pinecone bouncing in the air. You kicked it out of his reach, cutting him off before he could protest.
“Please just look at me while I confess, after that you can look anywhere you like, I swear.”
“Fine. Make it quick.” JJ held back a laugh, a scowl present on your face at his irritated tone.
“I don’t hate you, JJ. I thought about it and it’s actually kinda the opposite. As hard as it is for me to admit it. So, yeah. I do like you.”
His expression quickly turned to one of victory, though you almost took it as amusement, heart nearly dropping as a result. “Good. Because the feeling’s mutual, sunshine.”
A sigh of relief left your lips, chuckling softly. “Damn, JJ. You don’t know half of the things you do to me. I’ve been on such an emotional rollercoaster this past week.”
“I think I have a pretty good idea.” He disclosed, cupping your chin and pecking you on the lips, smirking as yours chased his for more. You let out a whimper of protest because he wouldn’t just kiss you properly already. “I drive you crazy, sunshine.”
“Finally. The first accurate thing that’s come out of your mouth since birth.”
“You wish you could hate it.”
You wrapped your arms around his neck so he could get a good look in your eyes, deciding to play his game. “Face it. I drive you crazy, too.”

It wasn’t that there weren’t any spies who didn’t lie to their superiors.
There just weren’t any spies who lied to their superiors and lived to tell the tale, especially on high stakes missions like these.
You tried to convince yourself that the General would never find out, but that wasn’t the only reason why you were freaking out. Putting false information on your report was bad, yes, but the worst part was that you were beginning to find it harder and harder to report whatever information you found out about your fake boyfriend.
For some reason, you had a feeling it wouldn’t just stop at one lie.
Your eyes opened as you snapped out of your sleep all of a sudden and you took a look at the window, but it was still dark outside. That wasn’t the problem, the problem was that you had gone to sleep with Bucky by your side but now you were in an empty bed.
“Bucky?” you whispered into the darkness and sat up in the bed. After kicking off the covers, you made your way to the living room but as soon as you got there, he opened his eyes and turned his head to look at you.
“Hey,” you whispered, “Are you okay? Are the bandages too tight?”
He pressed a hand over his side to check the bandage, then shook his head.
“No, no…” he said, “Did I wake you up?”
“Nope,” you said, “Is the bed too uncomfortable?”
“The opposite.”
You tilted your head “The bed is too…comfortable?”
He let out a small bitter chuckle and ran a hand over his face as you stepped into the room, then sat down on the floor as well.
“I’m not really used to…” he waved a hand to motion around you, “It’s not familiar to be comfortable.”
Ah.
Of course. You should’ve seen it coming, he was a soldier and coming back home was always so hard for soldiers, especially in Bucky’s situation.
You had so many nightmares after bad missions, you had no idea how you would sleep if you had anything close to what he had been through.
“Do you want to talk about it?” you asked and he shook his head again.
“I’m sorry,” he said, “I was hoping this wouldn’t happen.”
“Don’t be,” you murmured, “Do you want to be alone?”
“No,” he paused for a moment, “Please stay.”
Your heart skipped a beat and you pushed your hair behind you ear, taking a look at the pillow and the throw on the couch, then grabbed them and put them on the floor.
“Y/N, you’re not sleeping on the floor.”
You rushed to the bedroom to grab your pillows and the blanket off the bed, then went back to the living room.
“What are you doing?”
“It’ll be fun,” you said, putting the pillows and blanket on the floor. “Like we’re outside, only not with…annoying bugs.”
“You’re not serious.”
You plopped down the floor and gave him a bright smile. “I am!”
“Darling….” He started but shook his head with a sigh as you lay on your side, pulling the blanket over your shoulders.
“I’m very stubborn, you’re wasting your time if you’re trying to change my mind,” you informed him and he shot you a small smile, then lay down as well. You entwined your fingers with his, then looked up at the ceiling.
“My virtue is so screwed,” you pointed out, making him huff out a laughter.
“Oh absolutely.”
“I mean, there goes my hopes of…” you trailed off, “White picket fence house and puffy skirts and homemade pies.”
“What, you don’t want them with me?” he asked and your heart skipped a beat, then you stole a look at him.
“Can you even imagine that?”
“Yes I can.”
“I think I picture a movie,” you said, “There’s this….big yard, and white picket fences and we painted the house white but the door is red. And there’s a dog and— feel free to stop me anytime, Bucky.”
“Don’t,” he smiled as if picturing what you were describing made him happy, “Just keep going.”
“We have a rescue dog,” you said, “We got him from a shelter and named him… um, we named him something funny.”
“Is it a big dog?”
“Yeah and you take him on a run every night. Mornings with me, nights with you.”
“That’s a good schedule.”
“He likes me better.”
“Ouch,” his smile widened, “I don’t blame him.”
You hummed, “And you have a mustache I think.”
He shot you a look, “If you say a Clark Gable mustache…”
“I’m just putting it out there—”
“Nope. Not gonna happen.”
“Fine,” you let out a laugh, “And we have an apple tree in the garden. Wait no— we have an apple tree and a peach tree.”
“How big is the garden?”
“Not so big,” you said, “Like in those movies.”
He paused for a moment and you stole a look at him.
“You wanted a big garden?”
“Well,” he said, “We need a big garden for the treehouse.”
“We have a treehouse?”
“Depends,” he said slowly, as if he was intimidated, “Kids love treehouses.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the thought of having kids with him, for the hundredth time the image of a happier future where you weren’t a spy flashing in front of your eyes. You tried to stop the smile pulling at your lips.
“Yeah,” you said, “I think our kids would love them too.”
You could see the ghost of a smile on his face as he rubbed his thumb over your hand.
“Yeah?”
“Mm hm,” you yawned, “And in summer we would put a bouncy house thing in the garden and we would put a hammock between the peach tree and the apple tree and we would relax there while the kids are wreaking havoc in the bouncy house.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Yeah,” you murmured, sleep luring you as you closed your eyes, taking in his scent, “Sounds like a good plan.”
                                                           ***
You really didn’t have time to second guess yourself today. Yes you had lied to the General and spent the whole night with Bucky imagining an impossible future but now, you had to keep your head in the game.
You would figure out what you would do. Eventually.
This was a mission. You had to start acting like it.
“I don’t think I like this one,” you called out from the dressing room and in a second, the door opened to reveal Chloe who raised her brows.
“Wow.”
You tilted your head and stepped outside to look at yourself better. The gold body chain wrapped around the lingerie gleamed under the shop’s bright lights and you fixed the suspenders, clicking your tongue.
“Nah. I don’t think so.”
“Wow,” she said again, “I hate you so much, why do you look so hot in lingerie?”
“Chloe, every woman looks hot in lingerie,” you said as you walked back to the dressing room to try the next lingerie set. It was a red lace bodysuit and after a moment of struggle, you got into it, and opened the door again.
“Not this one either.”
“I can’t believe you’re going to sleep with him!” Chloe squealed, “Are you excited?”
You cleared your throat, “It’s just a mission.”
“Yeah but you want to sleep with him?”
“The dude is hot.”
“Y/N.”
“What?” you fixed your hair and frowned at your reflection, “Nope. I don’t like this. It’s too….meh.”
“I doubt Barnes would say meh if he saw you in this,” she said, “He’d probably pass out. You look like you’re about to grab your whip or something. Oh— Y/N, you should like tie him up or something! If we’re not going full on vintage, show him the modern fun times!”
You shot her a look, “Something tells me he doesn’t like to be tied up Chloe.”
“Why not?”
“Uh, because HYDRA scumbags tied him up a lot and he still has nightmares about it?”
“Ah,” she said, “I forgot about that. Hey, maybe he could tie you up!”
“I’ll tell you the same thing I said to Julian when he suggested I called him sir in bed,” you stated, “No thank you, I don’t do that sub thing.”
“Now I kind of wish we specified your cover’s kinks,” she heaved a sigh, “It’d make things so much easier.”
“My cover likes to be in control.”
“No, real you likes to be in control,” she corrected you, “Nothing about your cover says control.”
“Chloe—“ you started but stopped talking when the shop assistant approached you.
“Do you find it to your liking?”
“Um, not exactly,” you said, “I mean I like the color but overall—“
“Do you have bridal sets?” Chloe cut you off and your eyes widened.
“Easy there.”
“Like maybe soft pastel tones…. The whole thing though, garter belt and stockings and everything.”
“Of course!” she said, “We have some new arrivals, let me bring them here.”
“Chloe!” you whispered as the shop assistant walked away, “What the fuck?”
“Think about the dresses we picked for your cover,” she said, “Soft pastels. It makes sense that your cover would pick those shades in lingerie too.”
“Bridal? Really?”
“I mean, Barnes will want to propose you right there when he sees you in them so…” she grinned at you while you narrowed your eyes at her, “Come on! I’m very curious about how he is in bed.”
You tilted your head, “Is there anything you’d like to tell me?” you asked, “Because love triangles are so early 2000s.”
“Hilarious,” she deadpanned, “And no. My type is more—relaxed. Less serious.”
You scoffed and leaned back on the wall, crossing your arms, “You could just say Keith.”
She shifted her weight, biting on her lip. “I mean…” she trailed off, “He still doesn’t make a move though.”
“Why don’t you make a move?”
“I could never!” she gasped, “Nope. Ever. Besides, I thought you were against me dating spies.”
“I am,” you admitted, “But it’s your love life. If you want to date a guy who has an extremely dangerous job and worry about whether or not he will come back to you alive….”
“You’re very romantic, Y/N,” she said as the assistant came closer, holding the set. Even you had to admit, it looked very sexy and beautiful at the same time, with soft pastel lace adorning the fabric, and you took a look at the basque, then walked inside.
“Besides, you’re the one to talk.” Chloe called out as you got into the lingerie, then ran your fingers over the garter belt.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Your boyfriend does dangerous stuff too.”
“Fake boyfriend,” you corrected her, fixing the basque, and as soon as your reflection caught your eye, you raised your brows.
“Okay, maybe you had a point,” you admitted and opened the door, and Chloe grinned at you.
“See,” she said, “This is what I was talking about.”
You smirked at her and leaned on your hip, still looking in the mirror.
“Fine, I like this one.”
“Told you,” she sang and you crossed your arms.
“What dangerous stuff has he been doing lately?”
“He was texting with Wilson about some HYDRA person,” Chloe said, “Apparently they want to go after him. Tonight.”
“What HYDRA person?”
“No clue. And we can’t send a team because then it’ll be obvious— Y/N, I know that look,” she shook her head fervently, “No.”
You tried to look as innocent as possible, “I didn’t say anything.”
“You want to go after the same HYDRA person as them, but you have specific orders and we still haven’t got the okay from the top of the chain of command to go after that scum.”
“Chloe.”
“No. I’m not going to give you the address.”
“Well if Barnes ends up dead, I won’t have a mission will I?”
“He’s going to be fine, he fights better than you.”
You gasped, “How dare you?”
“He fights better than everyone in the division!” she insisted, “He can take care of himself.”
You pouted, “Fine,” you said, “I guess I won’t give Keith the idea of taking you out on a date then.”
She paused for a moment, “That’s bribery.”
“Uh huh.”
“You have no shame, do you?”
You motioned at the lingerie set you were in, “Does it look like it?”
She rubbed at her eye and let out a small whine.
“If my dad asks—“
“He’s not going to know.”
“Do you promise to behave?”
“I always behave,” you stated, making her snort.
“I don’t believe that for a second.”
“Please?” you asked, “I promise I’ll be safe. I’ll just make sure he’s alive, that’s it. I won’t get involved in anything.”
“You promise?”
“Cross my heart.”
Chloe pursed her lips. “For your information, I think picnics are romantic.”
“Dully noted,” you said, “Trust me, he will take you on a picnic. So, do we have a deal?”
She rolled her eyes, then nodded, making you let out a laugh and walk back to the changing room.
“I want candles on that picnic too!”
“Send me the list of your demands,” you called out, “I’ll make sure they’re all covered.”
                                                      ***
In all honesty, Chloe was terrible at saying no to people, especially the people she loved.
You fixed your ski mask as you took a look at the text Bucky had sent you after you asked him what he was doing;
Nothing much, going home soon. You?
“Liar liar….” You sang as you typed your reply.
Soup Kitchen was so tiring, I think I’ll go to bed early tonight.
Fine. Maybe he wasn’t the only liar in this relationship.
You took a look at the building’s window through your binoculars, then lowered them to check your phone when it vibrated.
Good idea. Sweet dreams darling.
You tried to ignore the smile on your lips but as soon as you heard gunshots coming from the building, your head shot up.
“Shit,” you murmured and tried to see what was happening, but it was impossible. Whoever they were, they were definitely staying away from windows.
“Not gonna get involved,” you muttered, “Not gonna get involved, it’s stupid and puts the mission in danger. I’ll stay right here, he can take care of himself.”
For about five seconds, it worked.
“I’m being stupid,” you mumbled to yourself as you grabbed the gear around your waist, then checked whether it would actually carry you, “I’m being so fucking stupid, I haven’t even slept with the dude yet….”
You went over to the edge of the rooftop, then took a deep breath, grabbed the cables and jumped to crash through the window of the building the gunshots were coming from. You pulled your gun to shoot the person who looked like he was about to shoot Bucky, sending him to the ground and Bucky pushed the guy he was fighting with through the wall, then turned around to point the gun at you but as soon as he did, he frowned.
“….Shrike?”
“Hi handsome.” You unbuckled the rope from the harness, sending it up to the rooftop again as he lowered his gun. “Need a hand?”

this was wrong.
this was so very wrong, and you knew it. there was this churning feeling in the pit of your stomach, a stinging sensation in the base of your thumbs that told that you were doing something terribly immoral.
well...you weren’t the one doing it. technically.
the metaphorical devil on your shoulder tried to reason, and you made a small, annoyed noise to yourself. two long fingers had practically made their home inside of your core; index stroking your sensitive bundle of nerves slowly but it was still enough to put you in a haze.
you squeezed your thighs shut, puffs of hot breath leaving your lips in quick succession. the culprit only hummed in response, a shameless grin spreading over his face, brown eyes glinting with what could only be described as playful defiance. na jaemin had you exactly where he wanted you.
“you’re doing so good, sweetheart.” jaemin whispered, his head buried in the crook of your neck. “such pretty little noises you’re making for me.”
you whined in response, and you sounded so meek and submissive; you hated it. you never once in your wildest dreams thought that jaemin of all people, the boy who just a day ago was happily introducing himself to your parents, would be the one to have you in such a predicament. cuddled up on the couch with him, a throw blanket rested over both of you, while jeno and renjun sat mere inches away from you.
there was a part of you that remembered growing up with nct dream, watching them walk their path to achieving their dreams of becoming idols. you remembered meeting jeno and jaemin back when they were in the mickey mouse club, all of you in the same age range with goals of making it big.
so, the fact that you were inside of their dorms being fingered by their best friend and bandmate while they were supposed to be watching movies almost felt sacrilegious.
but you didn’t dare tell jaemin to stop.
so he continued, index finger lazily massaging your soaking wet core as if nothing was happening. he even managed to keep a straight face, staring at the screen and turning to crack jokes with jeno every so often. he wasn’t even blushing! how the hell was that fair at all?
you were filled with so much shame, and yet at the same time the thrill of being touched so explicitly right in front of people made your heart race.
every time his fingers would dip to gather some of your essence, teasing at your begging hole, it would take every ounce of you not to scream. you wanted to drop to your knees and beg him to just fuck you stupid, right in front of everyone. you wanted him to go faster, you wanted his mouth on you, you wanted his hands all over you.
goddamnit, you just wanted to cum.
“nngh...t-tease…” you mumbled, furrowing your eyebrows in frustration. jaemin only chuckled softly in response, other hand rested on your thigh; fingers drawing patterns over the expanse of it. “but you sound so cute.” he giggled against your ear, kissing your cheek. “you’re so good for me, doll, you’re doing so good.”
to the naked eye, jaemin was just being overly affectionate. which was in his nature truly, so jeno and renjun didn’t bat an eyelash at him canoodling with you the way he was. if only they knew what magic his fingers were working underneath that throw blanket.
“should i let you cum right here? hm?”
panic began to rise through your chest as jaemin picked up his speed, he kept an eye on his friends, index finger rubbing your clit in quick circles; or as quick as he could do without getting caught. you dug your fingers into the flesh of his arm, whimpering softly as you shut your eyes to try to focus. you were trying your absolute best not to let your thighs tremble, but it was useless at this point.
“jaem, no...n-not here. please, not here.” you pleaded with him, voice a broken whisper. jaemin hummed, his middle finger slipping inside of you before you could stop him.
you inhaled sharply, which caused jeno and renjun to turn to look at you. “you okay?” renjun tilted his head at you and you scrambled to come up with an excuse, nodding your head rigorously.
“yeah! i’m okay! i, uh. i just...accidentally scratched myself too hard. g-gotta cut my nails later.”
renjun narrowed his eyes at you for a moment before nodding, seemingly buying it, and you felt like your heart was gonna come tumbling out of your ass at any minute.
jaemin giggled again, nibbling on your earlobe. “nice save, baby. you’re adapting well.” he teased, and you were so angry you wanted to scream. as a ‘reward’ he curled his middle finger inside of you and you were losing your mind.
you bit down on your lip so hard it hurt, head falling and resting on his chest. “please...please please please please…” you whispered.
“shh shh. c’mon, baby, you can handle it.” jaemin whispered into your ear. “you’re doing so good. so good, my baby, you’re gonna earn your orgasm. i’ll make you feel so good.”
you bit back another whimper, eyes falling shut again as you tried to calm yourself as best as you could. you felt like one more prod was going to send you right over the edge. “nana...i c-can’t…”
“you can.”
jaemin’s voice was dark and demanding, and it made you shiver. “sit still.”
minutes went by, and they felt like hours. the movie had finished and the boys had a long conversation about how boring it was for it to have been a horror movie; you were unable to contribute much as you weren’t paying much attention to it to begin with.
the plan was to order food and watch something significantly better, which in jeno’s mind was some obscure murder mystery he had found on netflix. jeno had left to go to the bathroom, renjun getting up to make popcorn and you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“jaem, for fuck’s sake.” you finally burst out, whimpering and whining as you buried your face in his chest. “you’re so fucking mean, i hate you.”
jaemin laughed as he slid a second finger into you, surveying the area and making sure the coast was clear before curling both fingers and ramming them into you with such speed you were sure you were going to pass out. after at least an hour of slow teasing, the sudden onslaught of pleasure was almost over stimulating. you threw your head back, eyebrows furrowing and eyes crossing while your thighs instinctively shut around his hand. it was too much for you, so much that you began to try and squirm away from him only to have jaemin give your thighs a firm slap.
“keep them open.”
“n-no, you’re gonna...m-make me…”
“that’s the plan.” jaemin glanced up again, making sure to keep a lookout. “if you don’t cum before they get back, you’re gonna have to wait another hour or more. possibly until they fall asleep, which could take all night. you’re very impatient so i know you don’t want that.”
oh, god you hated time limits.
you were sure you had, at best, 30 seconds or less before jeno or renjun returned. the last thing you wanted was to be caught mid orgasm by either of them. what would they think of you? their friend reduced to some disgusting little whore being fingered on their expensive couch?
something about that turned you on so much more, though. the adrenaline of trying not to be caught, chasing your orgasm as fast as you could. “you’d better hurry…” jaemin sounded almost sing-songy in your ear, fingers still fucking into you at speed your brain couldn’t comprehend. with the palm of his hand rubbing against your clit, you were melting into his arms.
you stuffed your fingers into your mouth in a feeble attempt to keep yourself quiet enough that they wouldn’t hear but your poor brain was fried, all you could think of was jaemin and how good his fingers felt inside of you.
‘fuck, i have to cum now. i need it, i need it so bad. they’re gonna see me, fuck. oh, god, they’re going to catch me. this is so fucked, they’ll never see me the same if they catch me. they’ll think im such a slut, i have to hurry!’
suddenly your jaw went slack, the burning knot in the pit of your stomach finally unraveling. there was an explosion of white, followed by splotches of every other color in the rainbow as you convulsed in his arms. you found yourself biting down on jaemin’s collarbone as you hid your face in the crook of his neck trying not to scream while he cooed in your ear.
“theeere she is. that’s my girl, i knew you could do it. i knew you could hold out for me, baby. fuck, you’re so beautiful, that’s it. thaaat’s it, fuck my hand. god, you’re amazing.”
you whined desperately, trying to push his arm away as he continued to rub at your over sensitive clit. your chest was heaving, tears clinging to the corners of her eyes and then you heard footsteps. jeno had returned first.
he sighed, sliding his phone back into his pocket before glancing around the room; locking eyes with you. you looked out of breath, panting in jaemin’s arms while he smiled down at you with a loving look in his eyes. “what the fuck are you two doing?” he asked bluntly with a laugh.
you startled, giggling nervously out of instinct. had he seen you? did he know what was going on?
“i showed her this funny video donghyuck sent me.” jaemin answered calmly, removing his fingers from their warm spot inside of you. “she started doing that thing where she laughs until she cries.”
god, he’s way too good at this.
you lifted a hand to wipe your tears and gave another giggle, playing along with his story. “the stupidest shit makes me laugh, it’s really awful.”
jeno scoffed a small laugh, falling down on the couch. “yeah, tell me about it. your humor’s so fucked, one weird sound and you’re giggling about it for weeks.”
‘home safe. god, how did i get out of this.’ you thought as he and jaemin delved into a conversation of stupid memes and how weird the internet’s humor had become.
renjun returned with popcorn and the food jeno had ordered, giving jaemin the chance to fully retrieve his hand as they had their backs turned. “messy girl.” he whispered to you, smirking as he showed you his two fingers coated in your juices.
you felt like your face was on fire, watching him dramatically encase his own fingers within his mouth; licking your cum clean off them before turning to grab the ramen he had ordered as if nothing had happened.
you started incredously at the back of his head, in utter shock at just how brazen your boyfriend truly is. you hated that you weren’t sure if you could control yourself the next time you were left alone with him. you were half considering taking him to the bathroom to take his cock into your mouth and give him a taste of his own medicine.
you decided to keep your composure, though. trembling hands reaching for the peach flavored drink you ordered while jaemin practically burst with pride when renjun began to tease you for your shaking hands.

My Youth Is Yours
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
synopsis: in a world where you don’t begin to age until you meet your soulmate, Tom notices you started aging when he hasn’t
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Time to wake up.”
You heard Toms voice right before you felt a pillow hit you in the head.
“Mmmmm. I was dreaming.” You whined as you aimlessly threw the pillow in the direction of his voice. You heard the soft thud of the pillow hitting his body as he caught it and knew you were in for trouble. Before you could move out of the way, Tom jumped on top of you and pressed the pillow against your head.
“Aw. About me?” He teased as he squished your face into the pillow. You groaned and pushed him off of you, hearing him laugh as he rolled onto his back beside you. You propped yourself up on your elbow and took the pillow from him, smacking him lightly over the head with it.
“I said dream, not nightmare.” You sassed him. Tom rolled onto his side and smiled softly as he moved a stray hair off your forehead with his pinky.
“That’s not a very nice thing to say to someone who made you coffee.” He drawled before reaching over and retrieving the cup of coffee he had set on your nightstand.
“Coffee?” You groggily sniffed the air as he placed the cup right underneath your nose, making your eyes widen in delight. “Coffee!”
“With almond milk and sugar.” He sang as you gratefully took the cup from him.
“You’re so good to me.” You said before taking a long sip. “No wonder I’ve kept you around all these years.”
“Mm.” He hummed sarcastically. “20 years and counting.”
“Yep. And you don’t look a day over 18.” You teased as you cupped his chin. Tom rolled his eyes at your comment, but he wasn’t really annoyed. The fact that neither of you had started aging yet worried him daily. Sure, it meant you hadn’t met your soulmate yet, but it also meant your soulmate wasn’t Tom. He tried to convince himself that maybe you both had started aging, you just didn’t realize since you saw each other every day. He knew he was a long shot, but it was all he had to hold on to.
“Shut up.” He faked a laugh. “Neither do you, baby face.”
“You’re the one with the baby face.” You shot back as you climbed out of bed.
“This baby face is gonna allow me to play teenagers as long as I want.” He called after you as you waltzed towards the bathroom that was connected to your bedroom.
“Until you meet your soulmate.” You stopped in the doorway and gave him a pointed look. “You know white men age like apples once they meet their soulmates.”
You kept your tone light, but you dreaded the day Toms face would show signs of aging. It wasn’t something you liked to talk about as your youthful appearance told you exactly what you didn’t want to hear; you hadn’t met your soulmate yet.
“Lucky for me, mine seems to be on another planet.” He sat on the edge of the bed and swung his feet as he watched you wash your face.
“Maybe shes off somewhere making coffee for my soulmate.” You chuckled from inside the bathroom.
“That would be funny.” He commented. “Maybe they’ve fallen in love with each other and forgotten all about us.”
“Imagine?” You laughed as you began to apply your makeup. “What would we do then?”
“We’d have to be together, I guess.” Tom forced a laugh as he tried to sound like he was into kidding, when in reality he was completely serious.
“You wish.” You paused applying your mascara and winked at him from the bathroom. He smiled sadly and shrugged, but you missed it entirely.
“Yeah.” He mumbled as you shut the bathroom door to get changed. “I wish.”
Tom pouted and looked at his hands, a sinking feeling finding a home in his tummy. He hated being reminded that you were eventually going to meet someone else and grow old with them. He wanted to stay in your youthful bubble as long as he possibly could. The sound of the door opening brought him out of his thoughts as you walked down the hallway that connected the bathroom to your bedroom. You were in your work clothes now, minus your heels.
“There she is.” Tom smiled at you. “Going for the pencil skirt, I see.”
“I just want to look good in case my soul mate decided to take a desk job.” You shrugged as you slipped into your pumps.
“So that’s what a guy has to do to get your attention?” Tom raised as eyebrow. “Get a desk job?”
“Uh huh.” You bit your tongue between your teeth and rested your hands on his shoulders. “I find actors so boring.”
“I bet you do. How about I take you out tonight? I know your boss has been on your case lately.” Tom asked as he peered up at you from his seated position on the bed. He rested his hands on your hips and drummed his thumbs on your waistline.
“I would like that.” You smiled as combed your fingers through his hair. “It’s a date.”
“A date.” He nodded, leaning into the palm of your hand. You winked at him again and checked your watch, eyes widening at what you saw.
“I’m running late.” You sighed. “I’ll see you tonight.”
“See you tonight.” He waved at you gently as you slipped your arms away from his neck.
“Muah.” You bent down and pressed a wet kiss to his cheek, knowing how much he didn’t like it.
Or so he claimed.
Tom scrunched his nose and wiped the kiss off, really only concerned with getting the lipstick off his cheek.
“Give me a real one, why don’t you.” He jokingly called after you, but once again meant it in it’s entirety.
“Maybe I will.” You called back before shutting the front door.
You arrived at work on time, much to your relief. You greeted the secretary and picked up the paperwork, noticing the pike was a little bigger than expected.
“Is this all for me?” You asked with a tight smile as you collected the stack of files.
“I’m sorry.” The secretary shook her head. “Mr. Brighton dropped them off last night. He specifically asked that you do them.”
“This is the company’s budget.” You realized as you thumbed through the filed. “That’s his job, not mine.”
“Are you surprised?” She laughed sadly. “I haven’t seen him doing his own job since I started here.”
“I better get started if I want to make it home on time.” You sighed. “Have a good one.”
“You too.” She called after you as you made your way to your desk. Along the way, you greeted the girls you worked with.
“Stacey, I called the IT department and told them about the wifi issue. Thanks for letting me know.” You smiled at your coworker.
“Hi Emma.” You waved and set a few folders down in her desk. “Here are the files you need to redo. Don’t worry about messing it up, it happened to me all the time when I first started. Try to have them in my desk by 4, okay?”
“I told the janitor about the paper towels and he said he’ll make a note to restock them more. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Joslyn.” You thanked your coworker as you walked by.
“Jaiden!” You greeted. “Great work on your proposal yesterday. Just try not to fidget with your hands so much. You had great ideas. There was no need to be nervous.”
You finally got to your desk and set the stack of files down. You blew out an angry breath, already tired before you even started. Right as you were about to sit down when a man in a crisp navy suit appeared at the desk across from you, setting a box of his belongings down on top of it. He looked up briefly and made eye contact with you, smiling politely and stepping around his desk.
“Hi. I’m Chris.” He introduced himself as he held out his hand.
“Y/n. Nice to meet you.” You reached forward to shake his hand. “Is this your first day?”
“Yep. Just transferred.” He nodded towards his desk. “You’re the boss I presume?”
“Nope. Just one of his many victims.” You chuckled. “What made you think I was the boss?”
“I’m not sure.” He realized. “The way you walked in and took charge, I guess I just assumed you were the boss. You seem like you should be.”
“Oh. Well thank you.” You straightened your blazer with a new sense of pride. “I try to be assertive so I don’t get walked all over.”
“Well it’s working.” He laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck. “You had my respect right away.”
“Thank you.” You smiled politely. “I’m not your boss boss, but I am your superior, so you’ll probably be training under me. I’m supposed to tell you no personal calls, but no one really cares. As long as all your work is done by the end of the day, call whoever you want.”
Chris nodded and took a seat in the desk that faced you, nodding in content as he took in his surroundings.
“Hm.” He shrugged as he glanced at you. “Nice view.”
You caught his meaning and gave him a pointed look, to which he held up his hands in defense.
“Come on.” You nodded towards the hallway. “I’ll show you where the break room is.”
~
“I’m home.” You called as you entered yours and Toms house a few months later. He came to greet you in a tank top and shorts, his glistening arms telling you he was just working out.
“Hey.” He smiled as he wiped his forehead. “How was work?”
“Brutal.” You sighed as you set your bag down. “I don’t know how much longer I can last there.”
“Your boss again?” He smiled sympathetically as he rubbed your arm.
“Yeah.” You shrugged tiredly. “I swear, he has a vendetta against me or something.”
Before Tom could respond, you phone chimed in your bag. You got it out and saw a message from Chris, making a smile tug at your lips.
“What are you smiling at?” Tom chuckled, always a fan of that smile.
“Nothing. Just something dumb the new guy sent me.” You dismissed as you put your phone away.
Toms face faltered momentarily as he wasn’t used to you not telling him things. He let it go, assuming it wasn’t that big of a deal.
“My day wasn’t much better. We couldn’t figure out how to get this one…” He trailed off, his face growing pale and fearful.
“What?” Your eyebrows knit together at his sudden mood change.
“You look different.” He said quietly.
“Bad different?” You worried.
“No, just…you have a gray hair.” Tom admitted, making you let out a shocked laugh.
“What? Let me see.” You ran over to the mirror in the hallway and Tom followed.
“Look. Right on your part.” Tom pointed out a single silver streak on your part.
“Oh. You’re right.” You gulped as a sick feeling sunk into your tummy.
You turned around to face Tom, who looked like he was about to cry.
“You…you aged?” He croaked as he tilted his head to the side.
“I don’t…I don’t know.” You shrugged weakly, trying to calm him and yourself down.
“Oh.” Tom nodded, stepping back from you and adverting his eyes.
“Maybe it’s from stress.” You offered. “My boss has really been kicking my ass lately. Or-“
“Or you met your soulmate.” Tom cut you off. You frowned and reached out to touch him but quickly withdrew your hand.
“Maybe.” You whispered as your eyes searched his face.
“Do you have any idea who it is?” He asked, already knowing he didn’t want to hear the answer. You stared at him for a moment, the urge to tell him how you felt stronger then ever.
“No.” You said flatly. “No, I don’t.”
“I, um…I have to check on something.” Tom said suddenly as he withdrew from you.
“Tom.” You reached out for him but he backed away.
“I really gotta go.” He said quickly. “I’ll see you later.”
Tom practically ran away from you, making you drop your head in your hands as you sobbed.
~
You gave Tom his space for a few hours before going to look for him, assuming he’d be in his usual spot on the roof.
“Hey.” You called out to Tom once you found him on the roof. He was lying on his back on top of a concrete slab, staring aimlessly at the sky.
“Hey.” Tom said stiffly, without looking at you.
“You’re mad.” You said matter of factly as you slid down beside him.
“I’m not mad at you.” He said quietly.
“I didn’t say you were mad at me.” You answered. “I said you were mad.”
Tom swallowed thickly and stared at the sky as a tear rolled down the side of his face.
“It’s not fair.” He croaked, clearing his throat when his voice came out weaker than he thought it would.
“I know.”
“I wanted it to be me.” He cried, covering his face with his hand as he cried silent tears.
“I know.” You repeated as you fought back your own tears. “I wanted it to be you too.”
“I look at your face everyday. I see every line and wrinkle because right know exactly how they got there. Who else can say that? Who else knows you like I do?”
“No one, Tommy.” You whispered. “No one knows me like you.”
“Then why-“ his voice broke and he stopped talking. You rested your head against his, moving your nose along his cheekbone.
“Then why are you gonna end up with somebody else?” He finished his sentence as he composed himself.
“I don’t know. I don’t want to.” You wiped your tears off your face. “I wanted it to be you. I was so sure it would be.”
“How did this happen?” Tom sniffled. “How is this fates design?”
“I guess we just weren’t meant to be.” You shrugged sadly as you rubbed your face again.
“But how?” He wondered. “How are we not meant to be?”
“I wish I knew.” You told him as you nuzzled your face against his.
“I wish I knew too.” Tom swallowed as he leaned into your touched. You let out a sigh before sitting up on your knees and hovering over his face.
“Hey.” You smiled at him as you stroked his cheek. “I loved you just as much when I was 13 as I do at 23.”
“I love you too but what does that matter?” Tom whimpered. “We’re not supposed to be together.”
“One silver hair does nothing determine who I end up with. I don’t care if fate says we’re not supposed to be together. My heart says we are.” You decided. “You’re the one I want. I’m not interesting in anyone else.”
“Really?” Tom calmed down long enough to hear you out.
“My youth is yours.” You told him. “Everything of mine is yours.”
“But you’re going to continue aging and I’m gonna be stuck like this.” He reminded you.
“There are worse faces to be stuck with.” You smiled softly at him as you rubbed your thumb on his cheek.
“You’re not gonna want to be seen with an 18 year old the rest of your life. People will look at you funny.
“I don’t care how it looks.” You shrugged. “I want this. I want us.”
Tom stared at your upside down face for a moment before smiling at you.
“I want us too.”
You returned his smile before leaning down and kissing him, taking a moment to adjust to the awkward position and slot your lips together. Tom brought his hand to the back of your head to pull you closer as you sat up even more. You moved in sync until you pulled away to catch your breath.
“You know how long I’ve been waiting to do that?” You chuckled as you sat down again.
“Trust me, darling.” Tom laughed as well. “I know exactly how long.”
~
“Morning!” You chirped as you took a seat at your desk a few weeks later.
“Good morning.” Chris greeted you. “Did you have a nice weekend?”
“I did.” You sighed happily. “Did you?”
“Not really.” He shook his head. “I spent the weekend in a bit of a panic.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” You frowned. “What happened?”
“It’s so weird.” He chuckled. “I look like I’m 18 for the past few years and all the sudden I get laugh lines. I just looked into the mirror on Friday and saw them.”
“Laugh lines?” You laughed nervously as a panic set in.
“Yeah.” He shrugged. “I guess I’m aging finally.”
“Good for you.” You faked a smile. “So you’ve met your soulmate?”
“I mean, I must’ve right?” He asked. “I don’t know who it is, I just know I’ve started to age. It’s pretty weird knowing they could be anybody I currently know.”
“Yeah, that’s really weird.” You agreed.
“Sorry, I keep talking about myself.” Chris shook his head. “Have you met your soulmate?”
“Yeah. His names Tom.” You smiled proudly.
“That him?” Chris pointed to a framed photo of you and Tom you had on your desk.
“Yeah.” You nodded and pushed the picture closer to Chris. “I just took that last week.”
“Funny.” Chris commented as he leaned forward to look at the picture. “He looks a little young.”
“Yeah.” You laughed nervously as you quickly withdrew the picture. “Funny.”

synopsis: did your traitorous heart make the stupid decision to fall in love with him again, or had you always been his to keep?
Tumblr media
“You seriously can’t keep coming here whenever you feel like it, Dabi,” you whisper while scrubbing at your weary eyelids, “If someone sees you, you’re gonna get me in a lot of trouble.”
A true statement and yet it takes no further prodding or convincing at all for you to crack open your window at three in the morning, and allow your ex to clamber through the fire escape. There are sirens blaring in the distance; the high-pitched wailing of fire trucks are a familiar sound, especially in this part of the city. You’ve told yourself that intrusions like these are exactly what you deserve for not cutting him off like the cancerous leech that he is.
Willpower alone can’t keep you from wrinkling your nose, considering how his clothes smell of ash under a faint layer of nicotine. It tells a far better story of his recent crime than anything he could ever say out of his mouth. These days you don’t bother asking. There isn't much of a point in doing so when all you are sure to receive is another sugar-coated lie.
“Don’t be like that, doll face,” he smirks. “I’ve gotta lot more tact than you’re giving me credit for. ”
Terrible, you think. And shameless too. Yes, Dabi is undoubtedly these things, but for all of his depravity and lack of care, you still can’t find it in yourself to turn him away.
He cracks a little smile at you, like he’s read your very thoughts. “What? You don’t trust me anymore?”
You don’t respond, and simply climb back into bed, pointedly ignoring the dark stain of blood on his coat. He may have your heart, but your trust is something you vow to never let him have again. With classes resuming for the semester, you are far too preoccupied with internships and scholarship applications to entertain an ex-boyfriend slash wanted criminal, especially one recently associated with The League of Villains.
It had been different back when he was just some nameless petty criminal, but these days his face was plastered all over the news. That wasn’t the kind of person you ever foresaw yourself getting involved with and yet here you are.
You hear the rustling of clothes and figure he’s probably going to steal one of your oversized hoodies again, all the while leaving his bunched up coat in the laundry bin for you to take care of later. It would give him all the more reason to return to your apartment under false pretenses.
Over the past few months you’ve learned to anticipate his tricks, it’s the only way you can keep yourself from living the rest of your days behind bars. Aiding and abetting is what this is… if you were to ever be caught, you’d have to say he forced you. That you had no choice. That you feared for your life.
“You seriously mad at me or what?” He drawls. The thud of his heavy boots echo through the room, but a quick glance over your shoulder tells you that he’s merely taken them off. Dabi pins you with a stare, brows quirked like he’s genuinely confused, if not mildly annoyed, but that doesn’t shake you. You only freeze when you feel the mattress dip under the weight of his knee.
The warmth of his breath ghosts your cheek as he says, “Scoot over.”
Is he serious right now? Why should you let him back into your bed after all he’s put you through?
“No.” you turn away, “Just take whatever it is you need and leave.”
There is silence for a few seconds but you know he hasn’t moved yet, not even an inch.
“C’mon, angel,” he pokes your side playfully, gazing unwaveringly at you from under his hooded eyelids. “I’ll be out of your hair before you even wake up.”
Chewing your lip, you heave out a sigh, and shift forward to make enough room for him to join you. No matter what you’ve said in the past, he’s always been the one in control. You feel like such an idiot, merely posturing while Dabi holds the reins.
He slides in behind you, pressing his body against yours; his arms looping around your waist in a way that is so familiar a pleasant hum nearly falls from your lips. You realize belatedly that he’s shirtless and the fabric of your tank top is far too thin to block the feel of hard sinew and muscle pressed so nicely against your back. Your shaky resolve crumbles to ruin in the presence of his blue flames.
Dabi continues to chat you up, regardless of your lack of response. You’re surprised. He isn’t usually so talkative, but apparently outmaneuvering the cops and getting away scot-free has a way of raising one's spirits.
Your body is slotted against his like a puzzle piece, like you are made for one another. Mid conversation his warm hands palm the fleshy skin of your stomach, giving you a soft caress. So caught up in the feel of it, you almost miss his next words.
“—missed you.”
Your thoughts stutter. For the briefest of moments, you think the words have come from you, but they surely haven’t.
Dabi presses a light kiss to your neck, as if to show that he means it—that in the month spent apart, he had missed you more than anything. And you can't help but shiver; you blame the staples on his chin that are cold in contrast to the heat from his mouth.
His kisses become firmer, and more intentional as he lures you into a feeling of contentment. Your body remembers him oh so well—and it wants what it clearly shouldn’t have.
“We aren’t together anymore, Dabi,” you rasp, “We shouldn’t even be doing this.”
And why not, a tiny voice chimes in the back of your head.
There are several, logically sound, and pragmatic reasons as to why you shouldn’t let Dabi fuck you into next week. It’s a shame, really, you’re far too tired, far too bewitched by this man to really sum up the effort to name them. Not even for your own sake.
“Just a quickie,” he mutters, lips brushing the shell of your ear. One of Dabi’s hands dip between your thighs and he knows he’s won when you part them without thought.
He squeezes the fat of your thigh like he’s done so many times in the past, fingers digging deliciously into your skin. “Mine.”
His fingers encourage you to loosen up a little, as he grinds his clothed dick against your ass.
The trail of kisses start from your shoulder and lead up to your jaw. All the while, Dabi keeps his other arm around your waist to hold you close. He sinks blunt teeth into the crook of your neck, licking languidly at the crescent shape left behind. He continues to nip and suck on the skin there until your heady moans leave you breathless and whiny. But none of it is enough to get your attention off the way he prods you with his index and middle finger through your shorts.
“You sound so sexy, baby.” he chuckles, “You gonna make more of those pretty sounds for me, hm?”
You don’t have an answer, simply put, you can’t think of anything else right now, other than the hand slipping past your panties, rubbing slow circles against the hood of your clit.
“Da-Dabi, please... more,”
At the sound of your wanton voice, Dabi sinks two fingers into you, thrusting his long digits, and coaxing you until you’ve soaked them with your juices. In response, you grind down against his hand, thighs clenching. He hits you with a series of slow pumps each time his wrists twist. You reach forward and grip his hand, wanting nothing more but for him to curl his fingers and hit the sweet spot.
“I know, babe, I know.” He murmurs, kissing your neck, but instead of continuing, Dabi pulls out you. He shifts until he’s quite literally looming over your form.
Though the room is mostly dark, the street lamp outside your window casts a slant beam of orange light into the bedroom. It’s more than enough for you to see Dabi’s grin, and the way his lips pull back to reveal a row of perfect teeth.
He’s handsome, even with the scars, and damaged skin. You could even argue that Dabi is increasingly more handsome because of them.
“You’re lookin’ at me pretty funny,” he says while straddling your hips. “Got something to say?”
You’ve been more silent than usual during this entire exchange, barely saying more than a few whispered pleas for more, but the heat in your belly grows. Heart pounding and tongue dry, you somehow manage to maintain eye contact.
Dabi was your first. The first person to make you feel wanted and alive. The first to bring you to the precipice of mind-boggling pleasure until you were quite literally seeing stars. It’s true that he was an asshole, and it’s true that this new route he’s taken scares you more than anything. But when you look at him, your heart insists that this is still the same man you had fallen for.
“Handsome.” You mumble, averting your eyes. “I was just thinking… about how handsome you are.”
At that admission, you take his fingers, the same he’d just fingered you with, into your mouth and swirl your tongue around it, sucking lightly. Dabi shudders. His blue eyes seem to glow with want and... something else that you can’t describe, but it’s tender and unguarded.
Dabi pulls his fingers from your mouth, replacing them his own. His lips shift against yours, tongue prodding until you open up. Looping your arms around his neck, you pull him flush against your chest, dragging him into your orbit. You aren’t certain when he had become the very moon on its axis, keeping the tides and seasons of your earth in perfect rhythm, but you do know that the emptiness you feel without him isn’t normal.
Fumbling hands follow the shirking of jeans. At some point your thin little top is pulled off and tossed into a corner. And soon enough, he’s pressing himself into you. The tip of his cock is just barely past your folds before you’re taking him in.
“Fuck!” Dabi braces a hand on your pillow. The other rests on your throat with a slight pressure, enough to make your walls clench around him.
It’s been a while for your ex; you can tell by the way he keeps his bottom lip trapped between his teeth. It shouldn’t surprise you, but it does anyway, because you’d thought he would have moved on to someone else by now.
Dabi’s brows are pinched, and he’s being rougher than usual, still you get the sense that he’s savoring this. Like it’s his last meal. Like he may not ever get a chance like this again. It’s ridiculous for you to lament the final nail in the coffin of your relationship with Dabi, especially considering all the shit he’s caught up in now.
But, unfortunately, your heart operates on a separate plane from the rest of you.
It wants what it wants.
His hips snap forward, knocking into yours in a rapid pace that has tension knotting in your gut. You wrap your legs around his hips, high off the feeling of him so deep in you. The drag of his cock in your pussy has your toes curling. The pleasure is so much you can barely think. His groans and your choked back whimpers fill the room. You even attempt to bite into the back of your hand, just to keep them at bay, but Dabi isn’t having any of that.
“Don’t you dare hold back. I wanna hear you tell me how good I make you feel.”
The look in his eyes is so fervent and heated and feral, it sends a shock of pleasure straight to your core. Your thighs are coated in your own slick enough for him to slip in and out with ease. He smirks, licking his thumb and pressing it against your clit, eager to get you off. Your hips jerk in response to the way he’s rubbing and fucking you all at once.
“Dabi,” you cry out. “Yes!”
Sweat licks at your brow causing the little fine hairs around your hairline to stick to your skin.
Dabi presses his face right into your neck, and with each throaty groan that escapes his lips, you feel your gut twist with yearning. You reach up and grip his hair, causing him to groan even louder as he fucks you into oblivion.
“You feel so fucking good, angel, goddamn you’re gripping me so damn tight, fuck—” his babbling continues and you know he’s getting close. Dabi knows it too, so he slows down enough for him to reach around his back and grasp your ankles from around his waist. “You want me to fuck you harder? Hm?”
“Please—I want you so bad.” You’re almost there, you just need a little bit more. Hearing you say those words makes Dabi chuckle.
He parts your thighs as far they can go, pinning them to the mattress. You hadn't thought it possible, but in this new position he sheathes himself even deeper than before, so much so, that your pussy milks him for all he has, walls spasming uncontrollably around his cock. The cry that falls from your mouth is smothered by a pair of lips.
Your orgasm hits you like a freight train and soon Dabi’s hips are stuttering against your own. He pulls out quickly, cumming all over your stomach, with a growl and a stroke of his hand.
For a moment the room is silent, save for your harsh breathing. Dabi collapses at your side, all fucked out and sweaty. His eyes never leave yours, even as he battles with fatigue.
As for you, the ache between your legs is a pleasant one you don’t bother complaining about as you clean yourself in the bathroom.
Upon return, you find that Dabi is sitting up in bed with a contemplative look on his face. You don’t ask what he’s thinking, instead you pull him into your arms and allow his head to rest against your chest.
If this is your last official night together, you’d rather spend it in his arms than alone.

summer rain: chapter 3
Tumblr media
Your days in the Training Corp aren’t too out of the ordinary. You make friends, you train hard, and you eat dinner every day.
Oh, and you’re also hellbent on getting revenge against Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.
Chapter 2, Chapter 4
You don’t keep your promise to yourself. Very unwillingly, you let Lieutenant Levi catch out after hours again, a few months later, in very different circumstances.
The day goes pretty well before the incident, actually. Nothing extraordinary or painful happens, and you even get Grumman to tell you in that gruff voice of his that you have good form. A good day deserves a good night, a nice farewell. It’s the end of the week, and since tomorrow is everyone’s day off anyways, you decide you want to have a little fun.
The usual suspects want no part in it. Millie doesn’t support sneaking out of the base, Ricky is too busy studying, and Stephen cannot stay awake past dinnertime and is always out like a light. Traitors, the lot of them. There’s absolutely no fun in sneaking out alone, so you start asking around. Surely there must be someone who feels as cooped up as you do.
And that’s how you find yourself in a bar with Traute and Nifa.
It’s an odd combination, you know that much. Nifa is bubbly, bright, and speaks very loudly when she gets drunk. Traute, on the other hand, has a glare that turns out to be helpful to ward off any amorous intruders, but when directed at you, it can be scary. She doesn’t drink at all, giving you a hard stare when you ask her if she wants anything. You only have a single glass yourself before getting up to do what you really came here for - dance.
You start off slow, the alcohol leaving your brain just a bit fuzzy after not drinking for such a long time. The musicians playing on the stage at the side sweeten everyone’s ears with a gradual but energetic melody. You grab a random man’s arm, swinging into step with him. He complies with a hearty chuckle, and now you have a dance partner. In turn, he grabs his friend, who grabs theirs.
Claps and cheers fill the air. You feel the heavy steps under you as your arms flail and you spin, right in the center of it all and enjoying every last second of it. Your hair bounces around you, falling into your face. Someone grabs your hand and tugs you into a waltz. Eventually, dancing turns to jumping, but you don’t care, you live for every second of this. The dancing, the music, the crowd, the sinful act of sneaking out and getting so handsy with everyone. The music is only egging you on.
Your hands are in the air, twirling for all you’re worth. The crowd is cheering you on, the melody is reaching its peak, the room is spinning, and you raise a leg up to finish with a grand pirouette and a wide grin.
The song finishes and you stop to a resounding wave of applause, your arms still thrown in the air.
Right in front of you is Lieutenant Levi, and he does not share the crowd’s enthusiasm.
You stay exactly in the position you are, hands frozen as though he’s caught you. Maybe it’s the wine, or maybe it’s the absurdity of the situation, or maybe it’s that he somehow went to the same seedy bar you did and caught you dancing and is now listening to your admirers enthusiastically shouting for an encore as the next song starts playing. Whatever the reason is, you start laughing.
He looks funny, with his bored, fed up expression. Why does he always look like that?
Sighing at your disorderly conduct, he beckons you forward with one finger. Feeling particularly pleasant, you follow him out of the crowd, pausing only to bow with a flourish to anyone who looks at you. Apparently, Lieutenant Levi does not appreciate your desire to please the crowd, because he grabs your arm and shoves you out of the bar. You giggle, hands flying up to cover your mouth.
“Who did you come here with?” he asks, and you waggle a finger.
“I’m not telling.”
“It’s your little quartet, isn’t it?”
“I’m not telling,” you repeat, taking a few steps back from him. You have no desire to get enthralled in him once again. The last time replays in your mind enough times as it is.
The lieutenant gives you a hard look. You try your best to match it, but you end up breaking out into giggles again, the giddy feeling too good to leave you so soon. He sighs.
“You’re drunk.”
“Ooh, so clever.” You smirk, completely unbothered. He doesn’t look too mad, and you’re not worried about Traute or Nifa either. They’ll find their way back. And now you have an escort! It’s truly a special night. “I’m not, actually. I’m no lightweight. I just feel good.”
“That won’t last long,” he promises, “you just ruined my plans. Instead of having a drink, I get to babysit you. So rest assured I’m going to make your life hell, (L/N).”
Your voice unwittingly comes out in a whine. “But you already do that.”
He sighs that sigh again, placing a hand on the top of your head to spin you around and push you in the direction of the base. You laugh loudly, finding his exasperation hilarious until he gives your temple a painful flick.
“Ow!”
“Fucking brat.”
“Ooh, you’re infuriating.” The good feeling is still there, but it’s a little more bitter. He just has that natural effect on your emotions. “You make me so mad.”
“Likewise,” he responds dryly.
The lack of engagement in his voice only serves to make you more sour. For a few minutes, you remain quiet, the two of you walking side by side. More than once, his knuckles brush against yours, but you pay no attention to the contact. You’re simmering in quiet annoyance, months of being thrown around, embarrassed and disrespected all coming to a head now. The liquid courage you consumed earlier doesn’t help either.
“Was it ugly?” aren’t exactly the words you wanted to say, but they’re the ones that come out.
“Hm?”
You look at him, an uncharacteristically vulnerable look displayed on your features. “My smile. Was it so ugly that you just couldn’t stand it?”
“What are you talking about?” He’s raising a brow at you, the breeze playing with his collar a bit. You realize this is the first time you’ve seen him out of uniform, in only a simple white buttoned shirt. He looks nice.
“The day we met. The first day of training. That day.” You wave a hand to make him understand. “You didn’t like my smile, so you...did what you did. And then you did it again later. That was mean.” There’s a pout on your face now, as you remember all his past transgressions. “It must have been an ugly smile if it made you act like this.”
“What are you trying to say?” Levi looks irritated. “Spit it out, (L/N).”
So you do.
“Why do you hate me so much?”
He looks at you, really looks at you, and yet he doesn’t halt. He merely scans your questioning face, your downtrodden expression and the downward direction of your lips. You’re not trying to be difficult this time, you’re really not. You just think that you have a right to know just what you did to make him constantly come after you. Maybe once you hear it, your ridiculous attraction to him will stop.
“What makes you think I hate you?” he replies, genuinely, honestly, and your heart clenches. Before you can reply, he goes on, “I wouldn’t be training you if I hated you. Wouldn’t put up with your annoying ass presence all the time.”
Not sure what to do with such a backhanded compliment, you press on. “So what, you like me? I’d hate to see how you treat your enemies.”
“You would hate to see it,” Levi hums in agreement, and leaves it at that. There’s no confirmation as to whether or not he likes you, which you take to mean he merely tolerates you enough. That does nothing for your feelings. Oh Maria, you can’t actually believe you’re entertaining the idea of having feelings for him in the first place. There’s an attraction there, sure, in a if-he-asked-you-to-sleep-with-him-you-would-probably-say-yes kind of way. You can appreciate his features, you can admit that he’s ridiculously attractive (for a midget). But it doesn’t go deeper than that, and you know now that it doesn’t go deeper for him either. You’re a thorn in his side, who he begrudgingly agrees to train out of some sense of duty. That’s fine. Except…
Except your fascination with his eyes doesn’t just stem from you good you think they’d look above you. It’s been the same thing since day one - there’s just something about him you crave. His closeness, his attention. He’s interested you since the beginning, and you just don’t know why. It looks like you won’t ever find out.
“Hey.” Levi flicks your forehead again, ignoring the glare you throw his way. “You’re thinking too loudly. Cut it out.”
You cut it out.
Not even a whole minute later, he asks, “What were you thinking about?”
He just can’t make up his mind, can he? What an adorable little sadist.
For maybe the first time since you arrived here, you think carefully about your words before speaking. “I was thinking about something that happened once back home.” When he doesn’t say anything, only raises a brow, you continue, “Millie and I went out this one time, with this guy I liked but was too shy to tell. It was pretty late, and I was really tired, so we got separated somehow. I ended up in front of this large mansion. Large, large. Like, I grew up there as one of the richest girls on the block and I still thought it was huge -”
“Get to the point,” Levi grumbles, and you smirk at his impatience. You really do think he should hear this one.
“I knocked on the door, and these two women opened it. I told them what happened, and they agreed to let me stay the night. So I ate dinner with them and then -”
The lieutenant just isn’t content with letting you tell your story without interrupting. “You actually went in? That’s so fucking stupid. Not to mention dangerous. Why didn’t you just try to go home?”
“I’m scared of walking alone at night.” You wave your hand dismissively and hurry on before he can chide you further about how unsafe it is to trust strangers. “So anyway, I went to sleep in one of their spare rooms, but in the middle of the night...I heard something. A scratching sound. It freaked me out.”
He scoffs. “I would guess you got murdered after that, but since you’re here, I guess we weren’t so lucky.”
You look at him crossly. “Ha-ha. No, I made it through the night. I asked them about it the next morning -”
“And then they killed you.”
“No. They told me they’d love to tell me, but they couldn’t, because I wasn’t part of their secret society that they had built the mansion for. So I left, but a month later, I ended up getting lost there again.”
“You’re fucking useless.”
“Shut up.” You’re not sure where you get the gall to tell him that. “I stayed the night again, I heard the scratching again, and I asked again. But they said the same thing. So I said, screw it, I really want to know, I’ll join the secret society. They tell me that first I need to tell them how many houses there are in Stohess. It doesn’t have to be exact, but it has to be close.”
Levi’s brows are furrowed in concentration. He shakes his head with a frown, clearly running it over in his head. “I can’t see how you could figure something like that out. It would take you ages to walk through every single street and count all of them. Why would they need to know that anyways?”
You shrug. “Haven’t the faintest clue. But remember I said there was that guy I liked? His father is actually a mathematician, and the man’s a chip off the old block. So I go to him, and he helps me out. Approximates the shit out of it. I thank him with a kiss and then go to the mansion, and give them my final answer.” You lick your lower lip, basking in how intently Levi was listening to your story. “They said I was close enough and that they could finally tell me where the sound was coming from. They lead me to a gold door, and give me a gold key. Actual gold, Lieutenant.”
“Fascinating,” he mutters sarcastically.
“It is,” you agree, humming, “I open the door, but then there’s another door. This time it’s silver.”
There’s deep confusion in those grey eyes. Something is very thrilling about having him hang on to your every word.
“They hand me a silver key, and I open the silver door, and then there’s a bronze door. At this point I’m really irritated, but they give me a bronze key and promise that this is the last door. So I put it in, unlock it, and open the door. And then I finally see it.”
You’ve arrived at the base. Snapping your heels together, you press your fist to your chest and salute. “Thanks for walking me back, Lieutenant. See you tomorrow.”
“What?” His eyes narrow. “Finish the story, (L/N). What was making the sound?”
You gasp in mock surprise, scandalized. “I can’t tell you, you’re not part of the secret society.”
If only you could capture his face in this very moment. It’s as though he goes through all the stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance all in one second. His mouth falls open in surprise, and you burst out laughing, pointing at him gleefully.
“Ooh, I got you so good!”
Levi gives you the dirtiest look you’ve ever seen, which only serves to make you guffaw even louder. You grin broadly - it feels so amazing to one-up him, even if it’s in this brief, stupid exchange. He can take this as your revenge for flustering you in the hallway a few months ago. Just who did this man think he was playing with? You are the product of the bitches and bastards of the fakest place in the world, so yeah, you can tell a story, and you can act your heart out. In fact, what were you doing here in the military? You should’ve joined a traveling theatre group, now that would have put your many talents to good use.
“Your sense of humor is shitty,” the lieutenant informs you flatly. Oh, you beg to disagree. “Laughing at your own jokes doesn’t make them good. So it was all fake, then?”
You do your best to control your giggles. “Y-yeah. I don’t just sleep over at random mansions. And I’m not scared of being alone in the dark.”
“All of it was fake?” he asks again, and this time it’s your turn to be confused.
“Yes?”
He tsks, whether at you or himself you’re not sure, then lets out a tired sigh. Sparing no further pleasantries, he orders you to bed, warns you not to be late tomorrow, and adds that he’s looking forward to the fresh hell he plans to inflict on you. You salute again, just to be extra, then start walking to the female barracks, still laughing to yourself. Hopefully this won’t seem like a hazy dream tomorrow. You got him, you really got him.
Just before you change into your nightgown, a fleeting thought pops into your mind.
Was the reason the lieutenant double-checked that the story was fake because you mentioned that there had been a guy you liked? No, that was ridiculous. He probably just wanted to check that his subordinate that he was investing so much time in wasn’t a complete idiot. But the thought is stuck in your head now, and you fight back a smile, burying your face in your pillow. Maybe you are a little drunk, but you could go back to hating him in the morning.

It’s astonishing to you, but you’ve actually improved. Gone are the days of your legs aching after running a few measly laps. When Rashad attempts to pin you down, you can flip him over and hold him there. The ODM gear starts to feel more natural, and zipping through the air is slowly becoming muscle memory. Even the swords feel just right in your hands, although it’s weird that you could run out of them and then have nothing to defend yourself with. Oh well, you don’t plan to be in that kind of situation anyways.
You hate to admit it, but Lieutenant Levi’s training is paying off. It’s not something you realize until you learn, with a start, that you are in the top ten. Number six, to be specific. Ricky mocks you endlessly for being one of those people who say they don’t care when they in fact care very much, as though he’s not two ranks below you.
Without telling Millie, you send a letter to your mother, telling her about your achievements.
Mama,
Sorry for taking so long to write. I wasn’t so sure you wanted me to. I still don’t know. But l wanted to tell you that I’m doing well here. I’m number six in the ranks. Isn’t that cool?
Millie’s doing well too, although I’m sure Mrs. Shackel keeps you updated. We have these two boys who follow us around like annoying flies. One’s from a village in Rose, and the other’s actually from an outer city of Wall Maria. Don’t worry, I don’t plan to marry a poor boy. I’ll find someone rich to settle down with eventually.
I hope you’re taking care, and I hope Grandma is too. Her condition hasn’t gotten any worse, has it? If you need me to send something from here, I’ll do my best to see if I can find it.
I wish I was the kind of daughter who could write you a longer letter. Sorry, Mama, but I’m not sure what else to say. Who knows if I’ll see you again?
Lots of love,
(F/N)

“I” - huff - “need it.”
“No.”
“I” - huff - “will” - huff - “kill you.”
“Tch. You’d try.”
“Just give me the water, please.”
“You still have a lap left.”
“I’ll do it, it’s important to stay hydrated!”
“Do the lap, then you get the water.”
“If you don’t give it to me now, I’ll faint.”
“Then I’ll leave you out here.”
“You wouldn’t - well, you would, but you shouldn’t.”
“Don’t want to. So get to it.”
“God, fine!”
“...”
“Now can I” - huff - “please have it?”
“I don’t know, can you?”
“You are such a -”
“You talk too much.”
“Oh my” - cough - “God. Are you trying to choke me?”
“You wanted the water.”
“To drink, not for you to shove down my throat and waterboard me with!”
“Ungrateful wretch.”
“What are you, a charming prince from a novel?”
“Yes. Now drink up, my bratty duchess, we’ve got more work to do.”

There’s dirt on your face, your sleeves, and your shoes, and yet you stay still, with a small grin on your face. You’re lying down, facing up, hands pressed up against the ground. To anyone flying above, you’d blend in with the dirt perfectly. Or at least, that’s what you’re counting on.
Somewhere out there, Ricky is on the hunt looking for you.
Your gear lies hidden a few feet away, since you didn’t want anything chunky to ruin your brilliant camouflage. Obviously a good long wash will do wonders for you later, but for now you stay quiet, ignoring the filth on your otherwise pristine self. The forest is quiet, with the light chirps of birds that you’re sure are very cute but would take a shit on you if you stay here too long. You breathe in and out quietly, stomach tense as you wait to see if your plan will work.
The wait isn’t long. You hear him before you see him, faint clicking sounds that his ODM gear is nice enough to alert you with. Pressing down into the ground, you hold your breath and close your eyes halfway, convincing yourself that you’re part of the nature that surrounds you. If you believe it hard enough, maybe this will actually work and Ricky won’t spot you.
After a second that feels like an hour, you hear him fly away and you breathe easy, running a hand through your hair.
Only then you feel something brush up against your finger, something hairy that’s crawling up your hand -
You let out an ungodly shriek, jumping to your feet. The poor bug that crawled onto your hand is flung off as you thrash your arms this way and that, smacking your skin just to get it off, get it off, get it off!
For all your efforts, Ricky hears you scream and immediately zooms back, chortling. He lands down in front of you, placing his finger on your nose as soon as you calm down.
“Found you.”
You sigh. This extreme version of hide-and-seek may have been a bad idea.

Millie has her head in your lap, a map in her hands as she shakes her head. Apparently there’s something marvelous about the document, since she can’t keep her eyes off it.
“I don’t think I ever realized how large the space is between the walls,” she mutters, “there’s so much distance between Maria and Rose. It didn’t feel that way when we came here.”
“Yeah,” you hum, absentmindedly tracing designs on her cheek, “makes you wonder how different people get the more inward they go.”
Millie’s nose wrinkles in concentration. “Stephen has a slight accent. Have you noticed?”
“Mmhm. He does good work hiding it, though. It’s hard to pick up on it unless he has to roll his r’s.” You try snatching the map from her hands but she holds on tightly, scolding you over trying to give her a papercut. Well that’s hilarious, considering the two of your are covered in scratches and bruises all over, but that’s Millie for you, always striving for the closest thing to perfection she can get.
You lean your head back against the bark of the tree, leaving her to her observations. It’s been a while since the two of you have gotten to hang out together, away from everyone else. It’s really no one’s fault, you’re both busy and it’s not like you haven’t already spent most of your lives together. Millie has her studies to religiously focus on, her rivals to crush, and apparently her maps to drool over. Meanwhile, you have friends to playfully compete with, horrible doodles to draw next to your scribbled notes, and your mind is strangely preoccupied with…
“Look, it’s your best friend,” Millie said noncommittally, nodding her head to the right.
Deja vu hits you like a merchant’s cart. You’re sitting under the same tree, he’s walking in the same direction. When he catches your gaze, you decide to complete the scene and give him a bright smile and a friendly wave.
Levi stares at you for two seconds, and then rolls his eyes and keeps walking. You bite your lip, just slightly amused.
It’s an improvement.

"(L/N), you’ve got a letter too!” are the words that shake you out of your sleep haze in the morning. You jump up, pushing past the others trying to get their hands on their mail. Reginald, the man who's nice enough to put up with this crap once a week, thrusts an extremely fancy envelope in your hand. Your name is written on the back in your mother’s expert penmanship. You eagerly walk back to your seat, ignoring the glares and eyerolls from some people who obviously weren’t getting their letters in pretty envelopes.
You sit back down at the table, opening the letter with extra care. It’s from your mother, and that makes it precious, so you want to savor it the best you can. Across from you in her normal seat, Millie raises a brow.
“Your mom wrote to you?”
“I wrote to her a few weeks ago. Just wanted to catch up,” you say quietly, not meeting her eyes, “I’m surprised she wrote back.”
Next to Millie, Stephen’s brows furrow. “Why wouldn’t your mother write back to you?”
“No reason,” you answer quickly, “she’s just a busy woman.”
With your friends’ watching your reaction carefully, you unfold the piece of paper, beginning to read.
To my darling daughter,
You say you don’t write much, and yet it gave me a headache just to read that much. You know that I like to be organized, so I’ll answer your unwanted letter point by point.
It’s certainly wonderful that you’re sixth in the ranks. Perhaps that means you’re the sixth least likely to die? Maybe the next time I hear from you, it’ll actually be from your commanding officer telling me how special you were, but how that didn’t stop you from meeting your terrible end. Hopefully there’ll at least be a small pension that comes with it.
Mrs. Shackel and I met for tea last week. She told me you were being personally trained by the best soldier in the Scouts. I have an idea - marry him, someone with such a valuable skill set surely isn’t poor, and is much better suited to your tastes. That way not only will you leave me without a daughter, but you’ll also leave the poor man a widow as well. Would that satisfy your cruelty, dear?
I am taking care. Grandma is taking care. We are doing fine without you. We don’t need anything from you. I don’t think we ever have. Had I known I was raising such a manipulative, heartless girl, I would have prayed to that ridiculous church that you die during childbirth. Unfortunately, Sina did not give me the good instincts to run a knife through you the second you were born.
Please do not write again.
Lots of love,
Your doting mother
“(F/N),” Millie starts immediately, taking in your stricken expression. She must have a good idea of what the letter says. “Forget about it, she’s a -”
You clear your throat loudly, standing up. Stephen looks worried, but he also seems unsure as to what to do. You don’t want him to do anything, hell, you don’t even want Millie to do anything. You want to get out of here. The room is suddenly suffocating. Your eyes are stinging but you are damned if you’re going to break down in here, so you only shake your head, unable to form words. You wave a hand at Millie, hoping she gets the hint not to follow you.
Without looking at anyone, you rush out of the mess hall. Despite your determination to wait until you’re definitely in a secluded area, tears start flowing down your face the second you step out. With an ugly, pained sob escaping you, you break out into a run.
Now that it’s getting a bit chillier, the cold bites into your eyes, making them water even more. You stop running after a few minutes, in the middle of the grounds. With everyone still having breakfast, there’s no one here yet, and you take that as an invitation to drop to your knees and start crying in earnest.
Why did she have to be so cruel?
You’re not a crier, you’re really not. An avid complainer, sure. A whiner at times. Definitely a sore loser. But you don’t particularly get any catharsis out of crying like so many other people do. When it comes to your mother, though...she’s just always known exactly where to strike her punches to turn you into a helpless little girl again. She can make you start blubbering so easily, and you hate that she can control your emotions even from so far away.
So you read the letter over and over again, until you’re mouthing the words on your lips that taste salty from the waterworks coating them. You’re trying to be quiet, but it’s beyond your control. You’re sobbing and wailing, and showing no sign of stopping.
There’s a quiet rustling beside you as someone walks up, and you shut your eyes tightly for a second. “M-Mil, I’m fine, I swear.”
“Are you?” Levi inquires, and you choke on a surprised sob, swallowing the embarrassing sound at the last second. Furiously wiping your eyes, you make to stand, but he crouches down instead.
He’s been in close proximity to you before, but never like this. Right now he’s near enough for you to reach out and touch his cheek if you so desired, but far enough that he’s not overwhelming you, and yet you can see the pores on his cheeks, the individual lashes lining those gorgeous grey eyes. You wipe your cheeks angrily. Great, just great, this incident will set you back several months on your plan. As though he was someone who needed to see you in such a vulnerable state.
The lieutenant outstretches his hand expectantly, and youre not sure why you give him the letter so easily. You watch as his eyes scan the cruel words.
“I know,” you say before he can speak, “I know it’s not a big deal. But she’s my mother, I just - I just wanted her to - I thought she could at least be a little proud - “
You don’t realize another tear has rolled down your cheek until he brushes his thumb across your face, wiping it off easily. God, he must think you so weak. You wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to stop your private lessons right here and now.
But when you look at him, there’s no condescension on his face. There’s not even pity. You can’t place it. To an outsider he might look angry, but after knowing him for almost a year, you know that’s not it. It’s something strangely...protective. Fierce. You never expected him to look at you like that. You don’t know what to make of it.
“Stop crying,” he orders, not unkindly. It could be taken as a request. “Do you want to keep this letter?”
“I - I don’t know.”
It seems your body is more obedient than you are, because you stop tearing up, and when you wipe your face again, it remains dry.
“That’s it,” Levi murmurs, as his hands hold yours, warming them up. “Personally, I’d rip it to shreds. But that’s up to you.”
What’s going on? He’s being...well, he’s being nice. He’s never nice. He’s not always unpleasant, and he indulges in your silly banter, but he’s never been so...soft, especially not with you. And just why are you so easily warming up to him, going as far as to curl your fingers around his? Is it because his hands are warm against your cold ones, or is it...is it because…
“I want to keep it,” you blurt out, partly to keep yourself from the unwelcome thoughts inside your head.
He nods. and then gently grasps your arms, bringing both you and him to your feet. He places the letter in your hand, and then proceeds to brush the sides of your uniform off. It’s rough, but you’re emotional and this feels like the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you.
“Thanks,” you breathe. It’s hard to say, but you spit it out anyways. “I - I don’t know what to - thank you.”
Finally, Levi looks like himself again, because he rolls his eyes and mutters, “I just picked your lazy ass up, (L/N), don’t look so fucking grateful about it.”
You smile softly, but he looks away, obviously feeling awkward. He truly goes through moods like he’s trying on different outfits, the weirdo. You decide that just this once you can spare him - besides, you need to save face too. You turn around, intending to walk away.
The lieutenant grabs your hand at the last second. He grips it tightly, keeping your arm outstretched. If only your heart could stop lurching like this, it’s not as if he’s going to pull you in for a kiss - he’s not the type.
“(L/N).”
“Yes?”
“From now on, if you’re going to cry, you’re only going to cry because of me. Understood?”
You swallow the lump in your throat. “Yes, sir.”
He nods, satisfied, and lets you go.
____________________
You can’t believe you’re doing this.
In the past year, you’ve been to Lieutenant Levi’s office once, maybe twice or thrice. Either you had something to tell him (like how you couldn’t train due to severe emotional trauma, which was usually denied), or he led you there himself, to quickly grab something. How come he gets an office anyway? You’re pretty sure one has to be a captain or section commander to get their own space, and Levi is neither. You suppose being humanity’s strongest comes with its own benefits, even if it is an unofficial title. He gets to enjoy the finer things in life. Lucky him.
Anyways, you hadn’t planned on showing up here after hours, and certainly not with a steaming cup of tea in your hands.
Swallowing every bit of your pride, you knock on the door. “Lieutenant?”
No answer. You knock again.
And again.
It’s right as your knocks get just a touch louder that you hear him groan, “I’m coming, just hold on a second.”
When Levi opens the door, you take the quickest second to note that he looks how he did the day he walked you home, dressed in casual clothing. Realistically you know that no one stays in their uniform all day, but it’s still jarring to see him out of it. Someone might mistake him as approachable, although that ridiculous notion would quickly evaporate when they got a good look at his face.
He gives you a quick annoyed lookover, clearly waiting to hear your reason for disturbing him at this time.
“Chamomile,” you say with a grin, thrusting it forward, “Helps you sleep.”
He gives you a long, deadpan look.
“Who asked you to make this?”
“No one asked me.” You let out a puff of air to blow the loose strands of hair that have fallen out from your bun into your eyes. “I’m being nice. As thanks for...you know. Just take it.”
Levi doesn’t take it, but he does turn and go back into his office without closing the door, so you take the invitation and slip in, shutting it behind you. He slips into the chair behind his desk and you make yourself comfortable in the one in the front. There’s important looking documents all over, but there’s an order to them - a method to his madness. There’s not a single pen out of place. Of course, this is your obsessive compulsive midget who organized it, so you can’t expect anything else.
You slide the cup across the desk, where there’s another cup of tea already half empty. Oops, you’ve accidentally fueled his caffeine addiction. “That doesn’t look like chamomile.”
“It’s not. Just regular black tea.”
“Won’t that keep you up even more?”
“That’s the idea,” he says calmly, relaxed and leaning back.
“Wow, you’re a proud insomniac.” You shake your head in a disappointed manner. “If it were me, I’d at least try to sleep.”
Levi gives you a little glare, then pushes aside the paper he was working on to pick up your gift. He peers at it, looking a bit tired all of a sudden. It’s as though the day or the month or the entire year is catching up with him, and his eyes flicker to your eager face before he lets out a long sigh, raises the cup and brings it to his mouth.
Almost immediately he gags, slamming it down as his face scrunches up in disgust. “What the fuck, (L/N)? This is shit!”
Well, excuse you. You’re not a professional tea sommelier, and this isn’t some dainty cafe.
Still, you wince, crossing your arms and curling back into the chair. “Sorry. I’ve never actually made tea before. I’m not a fan.”
“Let me guess,” Levi says in a scathing tone as though you just admitted to cold-blooded murder, “you drink coffee.”
What an ignorant thing to assume.
“I drink milk, I’ll have you know.” You snap this at him, only realizing a second later that it’s not really something to boast about so proudly.
Something he clearly realizes as well, because he’s fighting back a smile and failing pretty miserably. “You drink milk.”
Well, there’s no taking it back now. “Yes.”
“Milk.”
“It makes your bones grow strong, okay?”
He laughs at you, leaning back in his seat. “Of course it does.”
“Don’t make fun of me, it does!”
You bite down the comment that comes to mind, which is that he must not have drank much milk otherwise he’d probably be taller. You’re here to be nice, you remind yourself, even if he’s being his usual infuriating self. There’s lots of nice things you can do, like...like…
Oh my gosh, are you the mean one in this relationship? No, that’s impossible.
“Looks like you have a lot of work,” you say, gesturing to the piles of paper on his desk. “Want some help?”
Levi raises a brow at you, as though to ask you how much help you possibly think you could be. That’s fucking rude. “No, I wouldn't want to waste your strong bones on some boring paperwork.”
It’s your turn to glare. Maybe focusing on his totally wrong opinions about your choice in beverage will help you ignore the fact that the two of you are sitting, dare you say, cozily, in his office. He’s not kicking you out, he’s indulging you in conversation, and he’s even taking another sip from the supposedly terrible cup of tea you made for him. Sure, he grimaces after drinking it, but he’s not throwing it out. That’s...something.
Your relationship with the lieutenant is quickly becoming something dangerous. You’re enjoying his company a little too much lately. You’re thrilling in his laughter too often, you’re drowning in his eyes an unhealthy amount. It could be chalked up to the fact that you’ve just grown accustomed to him, since you see him so often, but you know that’s not it. The more likely explanation is that you just have such low expectations for him that the second he shows basic human decency, you mistake your surprise for some newfound affection for the man. You want that to be the explanation, at least. The alternative is too awful to think about.
“So,” he begins, and you think you’re about to be kicked out until he says, “shitty mom. What’s that about?”
You sigh. That’s about the only conversation topic you don’t want to breach, but you suppose it can’t be avoided. “Typical rich girl problems. She wants to use me for her own purposes, so she’s not happy I got up and abandoned her. Plus, Dad died outside the walls, and she’s not really a fan of me following in his footsteps.” You feel comfortable telling him this much.
Levi looks thoughtful. “Do you plan to die out there?” He’s not fazed by your blunt attitude at all, which is kind of refreshing, actually.
But the question is still...well, how do you answer that? How do you answer it without disappointing him? And why does it matter if you disappoint him? You don’t have the answer to any of these questions, so you only shrug and avert your eyes, letting them drop down the floor. Your goals are your own, and he doesn’t need to know them. He doesn’t pressure you, only hums in understanding.
“I’ve really never had a cup of tea this bad.”
You smile, grateful for the change of topic. “No one’s forcing you to drink it. Lieutenant.”
“Insolent brat, you go a whole conversation and then add the title like you’re doing me some kind of fucking favor.” He’s good at avoiding the topic too. Your eyes light up, and you lean forward.
“Pardon me, sir. Lieutenant Levi. Your grace. My prince charming. The duke of destruction. My deepest apologies.”
“Not forgiven.” He smirks, thoroughly entertained. “Try harder.”
“Make me.” The response slips naturally through your lips, inviting and seductive.
Oh for the love of Rose, you think to yourself, please shut the fuck up. It’s like the second you resolve to keep things neutral with him, he sets something up so well that you have to say something borderline flirtatious. It’s just too easy with him. You lose all semblance of self control, and always end up saying something stupid.
“Should I?” Levi muses, a gleam in his eyes now. “Your mother did suggest that you marry me. Maybe I should take her up on that.” He leans forward with a cruel smile, as if the idea is perfectly enticing to him. “Would you finally be a good girl and listen to me then, (L/N)?”
You freeze, mouth falling open. You had really, truly forgotten that your witch of a mother had included that in her oh-so loving letter, and that he’d read it. Holy hells, the universe wouldn’t be satisfied until the man in front of you had humiliated you in every way, shape and form. And this right here, this is exactly the fucking problem. He never stops you when you unintentionally flirt with him - most of the time he ignores it, and other times he encourages you and you daresay he flirts back. To mess with you, of course, none of this is genuine, but it makes the butterflies in your stomach freak out either way.
“Probably not, sir,” you force out when you find your voice, “I’m actually not looking to get married at all, so if someone did make a wife out of me, I’d fight them tooth and nail.”
He snorts. “Of course you would. Have to make use of those strong bones somehow, don’t you?” This fucking midget, he somehow musters up the audacity to leave you flustered and then moves on and pretends like nothing happened. What an asshole.
“Oh my God,” you groan, “leave me and my milk alone, caffeine addict. Seriously, I know it’s bad out there, but it can’t possibly be bad enough for you to act like such a hardass all the time.”
Levi pauses, the sharp retort that he was surely about to fire dying on his lips. There’s a brief flash of sadness in his eyes, and you bite your lip. Fuck, maybe you’re the one who crossed the line this time. You have a quick apology ready to go. but he speaks before you get the chance.
“For your information,” he says coolly, “I’ve always been like this.”
Well, that’s interesting. He’s not wartorn, just a grump? No one is just negative all the time for no reason, they have to have been screwed over by life somehow. You can’t take his claim at face value, you just have to do some more digging.
“And why is that? Rough childhood?” You snap your fingers, invested in this new guessing game. “Orphaned as a baby. Cast aside by a sibling.” Your eyes sparkle mischievously as you grin. “Abandoned at the altar by your long time lover. She left you for your cousin!”
“It’s past your bedtime,” Levi says, standing up, “lovely of you to drop by, but you better get going.”
The cup that you gave him is now empty.
“Injury. Business deal went wrong.” He pulls you up by your arms, ignoring your scientific hypotheses. “Your favorite pet died. Ooh, I know, the company your father left you in charge of went bankrupt! Wait wait wait, Levi!” He’s pushed you out of the room and has a hand on the door, but before he can close it, you place your palm against his chest, looking at him very seriously.
“Is it the altar one?”
“Why do you need to know?” he asks, seizing your wrist to take it off.
See, this is what you mean by setting you up perfectly. It’s his fault, all his fault. “If my betrothed has a scandalous past, I think I have a right to that information.”
Levi shoves you out and slams the door shut, leaving you beaming as you begin to jog to your dorms. That’s another point for you, and now that you’ve paid him back for comforting you earlier the two of you are even, and you can return to planning for the battle that he has no idea he’s participating in. The stars shine brightly that night, and you sleep easy.

“Look, they’re back!”
Everyone ignores Grumman’s instructions to stay right where they are, an action they’ll probably pay for in blood, sweat and tears later. The Scouts are returning from their latest expedition, finally. Everyone around the base is always tense when they leave, and now people can rest easy knowing that the next one won’t be for a few months. There’s apprehension in the air - as of right now, no one knows who made it back and who wasn’t so fortunate. You feel a twinge of guilt at the relief that you know the only person is the Survey Corp that you care for know is the most likely to have survived.
Sure enough, there he is next to Captain Erwin, looking weary as he gets off his horse. You’ve pushed forward to the front of the crowd of cadets, all scanning the crowd. You find yourself sandwiched between Ricky, whose long legs make it easy for him to keep up with you, and Petra, who is sighing with a dreamy smile on her face. You follow her gaze, confused.
“What, one of them bring back some food?” You crane your neck to figure out what she’s looking so lovingly at.
“No.” Petra points discreetly, and you follow her finger. “It’s just, he’s rather handsome, isn’t he?”
“Who, Erwin Smith? I mean, I guess, but he’s not really my -”
“No, (F/N).” She shakes her head fondly. “Lieutenant Levi. Don’t you think he’s extremely good-looking?”
Next to you, Ricky barks out a laugh, and you elbow him as you utter with the grace of someone who hasn’t been fantasizing about Levi’s eyes since the moment you met him, “No, not really. You can do better, Petra, trust me.”
A soldier rides in late, his face panicked and sweat trickling down his face.
“Oh, come on, I know the two of you have your differences, but even you have to admit that -”
One second, you’re chattering with Petra and wrestling Ricky with one arm as he grinds your foot against his.
The next second, your ears are ringing with the words that the soldier screams as loud as he can.
“The titans have broken the outer wall! They’ve gotten into Shiganshina!”
In a single moment, everything you know and hold dear changes.
All at once people are shouting, screaming at the poor soldier who delivered the news to explain. The titans have gotten into Shiganshina? How could they have? Is he out of his mind? Who sent him? How many drinks has he had? What does he mean, they’ve broken the outer wall? It’s a wall, it can’t just be broken, so what does he mean? What is he talking about?
It takes you a minute to notice Ricky has completely frozen next to you. His hands are trembling, and he’s mumbling to himself and shaking his head, as though this is a nightmare and he just needs a good pinch to wake up.
“My - my mom and dad, and my sisters,” he’s saying. “They’re not...they can’t fight titans, they’re not soldiers. They need...need help…”
With a terrifying realization, you remember that he’s from Shiganshina. You’re grabbing his arm to steady him, words of reassurance getting stuck in your throat. You don’t know what to say - you can barely control the consuming fear growing inside you, let alone soothe his.
In the next few seconds, Commander Shadis has learned everything he’s going to learn from the messenger, and he lets out a scream you will remember for the rest of your life. The order that’s delivered to you on humanity’s darkest day is simple.
“All Survey Corps members will refill their gas and restock their blades immediately! I want you all back on horseback in five minutes, you hear me? We are riding back to Shiganshina right now! All cadets and other personnel at this base are to gather the rest of the horses and get behind Wall Rose to assist the soldiers there with the refugees! Is that understood?”
He’s met with the chilling cries of at least a hundred people shouting, “Yes, sir!”
Your voice was not among the people who answered. As people run past you to prepare, you run forward, because suddenly you’re scared. Suddenly you’re not so sure that he’ll come back. And you can battle with yourself all you want later, all that’s important to you right now is getting to him. Even as you see tearstained faces pass by, you keep running, because you have to catch him before he goes, you have to -
You catch up to him right before he disappears. Steely grey eyes meet yours as people rush past you, no one sparing even a second glance to the two of you.
For a second, he’s surprised. Then he turns cold, and hard, and you know that many people are about to die. And he’s going to have to witness every. Last. One.
“Is there someone in Shiganshina you need me to look out for?” Levi murmurs, with all the softness of someone who might be riding out to his death.
No, you want to scream. Ricky’s family, maybe, but you don’t even know what they look like, and he’s going to have to worry about saving enough people without you placing an extra burden on his shoulders. No, it’s nothing like that, you just want him to...you need him to...
“Be careful,” you manage to get out in a foolish, rushed request, “please be careful.”
Shock makes its way to his features, as though he thinks it’s out of this world for someone to ask him to stay alive for his own sake. Your heart clenches, but you’re not leaving until he promises you he’s going to come back.
“Levi!” Captain Erwin calls. You don’t have any time left.
Even before he speaks, you know that he’s not going to make you the stupid promise you were hoping for. He’s not flowery, and certainly not one to feed you bullshit. No, he’s real, the realest person you’ve ever known, and his answer is going to be as authentic as he is.
“I’ll do my best.” Levi pulls away from you. “You be careful too, (L/N).”
With that, he breaks away from you and is lost in the crowd.
You don’t even realize you had been holding onto him until your hand is left feeling bare, reaching for him in an endless sea of soldiers storming to their doom.
ohhhhhh, i’ve been waiting for this for a long time. surprise, things are happening!
mommy dearest is rather harsh, isn’t she? reader’s no sweetheart herself, but damn.

Bakery AU!
Pairing: Claude x Felix
Featured characters: Claude, Athanasia, Felix, Lily (at the very end of it)
Genre: Fluff. Just... it’s pure fluff in here.
This was supposed to be a single one-shot but I somehow decided to turn it into a short fic that has... two or three parts?
It’s just an adorable AU!
"York's Bakery...," Claude read out the sign displayed above the front door of the cozy-looking bakery. He hummed in disinterest. He was not exactly a huge fan of going out to buy bread or random pastries at a random bakery, let alone a bakery that had been opened for less than three months.
However, since his daughter was the one who asked if they could visit this new bakery together one day during the weekend, he had no choice but to say yes to her favour. It warmed his cold heart when her eyes lit up before smiling at him after he said that.
Why must he be such a softie for his daughter?
"Waa..."
Upon hearing the shaky breath of awe, Claude looked down and noticed the seven-year-old girl staring at the bakery with awe. Her small and chubby hand was holding onto the pinky finger of his left hand loosely.
"You seem to be excited to come here, Athanasia," he commented nonchalantly with a stoic face. He was not the best at showing his true emotions. However, his daughter knew that he was being entertained by her. "I still don't know how you've heard about this bakery, though."
Athanasia just giggled. "Oh, I always see it every day when the driver drives me to school, papa!" she answered. Of course, he wouldn't know about that small fact considering that he had never personally driven her to school. As the CEO of Obelia's Enterprises, he had to go to his office early in the morning. "And since the driver has been to this bakery before, he told me that this bakery's pastries are to die for! Es... Especially the chocolate muffins!" she exclaimed.
"Hm, I see...," Claude mumbled before ruffling Athanasia's soft blonde hair. Compared to the colour of his hair which was a more golden colour, her's leaned more on the lighter side. "Well, let's see if what Mister Han said is true and the pastries here are indeed 'to die for'. Let's go, Athanasia. We don't want to keep standing here, do we?"
Athanasia nodded and skipped towards the front door, tugging her father by his hand. Some random passersby noticed the father-daughter duo and either smiled or chuckled at the adorable scene in front of them.
Claude was about to push the door open but his own daughter had beaten him to it. She had let go of the blond's hand for a few seconds just so she could both of her hands around the door handle. As soon as she pushed the front door open, there was the sound of a small bell ringing.
Ding!
"Welcome to York's Bakery!"
The person standing behind the counter greeted the two newcomers with enthusiasm. Claude stole a small glance at the worker and the only thing he took note of was the messy bright red hair. As well as that large grin on his face that could make anyone's heart melt.
Besides that? He didn't look all that interesting to him.
All he could give the man was a curt nod for he was not someone who enjoyed talking to people.
"Hello!" Unlike him, Athanasia was a total ball of sunshine. She smiled back at the worker and waved at him. The man just chuckled and waved back.
"Why, Hello there, young lady," the man behind the counter said. "How may I help you on this wonderful afternoon?"
Claude gave the man a warning glance and he immediately tensed up. A sign for him to not act so close around the little girl. Times like these made Claude grateful that he had a natural resting bitch face. After that, he acted as if nothing had happened and picked up a tray to put the baked goods he planned on getting on.
Besides the one worker available in the bakery, Claude noticed upon entering the building the strong aromatic scent of freshly baked bread. It tingled his nose slightly due to how heavenly the smell inside the bakery was.
"Uhh... I heard that the chocolate muffins here are to die for! And I wanted to try one!" Athanasia told the man. She walked towards the front counter and pressed her face against the glass of the display case. "Whoa... you have a lot of delicious-looking desserts here."
"Hmm... they do cater a lot of baked goods here," Claude mumbled to himself as he picked out random bread he and his daughter would eat as light snacks. Sausage rolls, croissants, baguettes, buns, egg tarts, cookies... They were really selling a wide variety of baked goods. He grabbed the pair of tongs and started to do his own business.
The worker laughed at Athanasia's adorableness. "They're all freshly made, you know? Well, except for the cakes since we usually have them chilling in the refrigerator overnight." He looked around before winking at her. "But that's a secret between us, alright?" he said in a whisper.
'Someone seems to like that counter worker,' Claude thought when he heard his daughter laughing out loud. He stood in front of a tall basket made from rattan that had baguettes in it. 'Hmm... Athanasia would most definitely eat an entire long baguette as a snack in one sitting... I'm just going to get it for her.'
"You're funny, Mister!" Athanasia exclaimed while taking her hand out towards him. "My name is Athy and that grumpy man who's picking out the baked goods there is my papa!"
"... Grumpy?" Claude turned around and looked absolutely offended by how Athanasia introduced him to a random stranger. Him? Grumpy? Sure, he was not a huge fan of social interaction but that did not mean that he was entirely grumpy.
It only made him even more annoyed when the guy was laughing with her.
"Now, Miss Athy. It's rude to call your own father grumpy," he told her before gently holding her small hand to shake it. "My name is Felix, by the way. If you were wondering about my name, that is."
"Oh, I already knew what your name is," she said before pointing on the nametag that was pinned to the beige apron Felix wore. "It's written on that nametag thingy."
"... Oh, I actually forgot that I had my nametag on me," Felix stated in slight embarrassment. He scratched the back of his head. "You have good eyes, Miss Athy."
"Athanasia."
The girl turned around to look at her father. "Yes, papa?"
"Have you picked out everything you want yet?" Claude asked while smirking. After placing the tongs in their original place, he put his free hand on his waist. "You don't want to return home without those muffins and cupcakes and cookies you were talking about before coming here now, do you?"
"Eh?! But papa, there's just so many things that I wanna try here!" Athanasia cried out. Her eyes darted around the baked goods inside the display case. "Ahh, I really wanna try those chocolate muffins... but the chocolate chip cookies look so good... Oh, but... but look at those macarons! And- And those chocolate bars with dried up fruits..."
Felix looked down at the indecisive girl and looked up at Claude. He laughed weakly. "I assume that your daughter has a strong liking to chocolate?" he asked.
"She's addicted actually," Claude answered before placing the tray on the front counter. He was going to have to pay for all these twice if Athanasia was still deciding on what she should get. "She actually had one of her teeth pulled out at the dentist last year because of a bad cavity. She kept denying that her tooth wasn't aching... but she always teared up whenever she ate anything."
Felix snorted while Athanasia looked at her father as if he had betrayed her. Which, in a way, he did.
"Papa, you promised you won't talk about that to anyone," Athanasia whined with a cute pout. She humphed. "I'm not going to talk to papa anymore!"
"Is that so?" With a calm expression on his face, Claude pulled out his wallet. "Well, good luck paying for all those desserts, then."
"Papa!" she whined again, earning more laughter from the man behind the counter.
He may not look it, but Claude knew how to be humourous... occasionally.
"M-My, you two are quite a hilarious duo," Felix commented while wiping away a tear from laughing too much. He went to the cash register to collect the blond's payment. The girl would eventually tell them what she wanted soon enough.
Claude looked around the bakery while Felix placed the baked goods he paid for into a large paper bag. "Are you the only one working here?" he asked, trying to make some light conversation even though he was not the best when it came to starting one.
"Oh, heaven's no. I'm way too inexperienced to be left working at a bakery all alone," Felix answered with a smile. "There are more people working here, believe it or not. The owner of the bakery, Lilian, is usually working behind the scenes in the kitchen. The same goes for the other ladies working here. Since I'm not that good at baking anything, I'm in charge of the front counter. Greeting customers, making sure everyone is content with the bakery's atmosphere, making sure no one steals anything from here... the usual stuff."
Felix was indeed a talker.
"... Uh-huh," was Claude's awkward response.
"Mister Felix! Mister Felix!" Athanasia called out.
Felix and Claude looked at the little girl. "Hm? Found something you like, Miss Athy?"
"... Can I get a chocolate muffin and those chocolate chip cookies? They look really tasty?"
"Of course. Oh, one moment, Sir."
"Take your time."
Claude looked at Felix who knelt down to grab a muffin as well as scooping out the cookies before putting them in separate smaller paper bags. When Athanasia approached him, he petted her head. "I thought you'd buy the whole bakery because of how indecisive you are when it comes to food."
"But papa, if I do that, then what will they sell afterwards? I don't wanna ruin their business!" Athanasia grinned innocently.
"... Well, isn't that nice of you?" Claude responded sarcastically.
Felix couldn't help but chuckle at them. "Here're your cookies and muffin, Miss," he said as he leaned forward to give the small bags to the girl after calculating the whole price of everything with the cash register.
"Yay!" Athanasia snatched the paper bags from Felix's hand. She immediately opened the bag with the cookies and pulled one out before munching on it.
Claude sighed. "Athanasia, can't you just wait for a few more minutes?" he asked her sternly. "At least eat the cookies once I'm done paying for everything."
"But... But papa. These cookies are amazing!" Her jewel blue eyes sparkled. There were a few cookie crumbs on her lips and her chubby cheeks were puffed out after eating more of the tasty snack.
Claude's shoulders dropped. "Athanasia... You're dirtying the floor with those cookie crumbs."
Felix had to stifle his own laughter. "That's okay, Sir. I can clean that up afterwards. Besides, your daughter here is obviously enjoying those cookies immensely, right Miss Athy?"
"Mhm!" Athanasia nodded her head, mouth still full with cookies inside.
Well, it was painfully clear to Claude that this worker was already smitten with his daughter... Which he couldn't really blame him for that. Even he had to admit that his daughter was a complete natural at manipulating people with her cute looks and personality.
Claude sighed and was preparing to pull out his money. "How much does everything cost... Felix?"
"That will be... exactly 13000 won."
Claude widened his eyes slightly. "... That's a pretty low price for this much we're getting," he muttered. "Especially for how high-quality everything looks."
Felix thought he had misheard something. "Low price? I... don't mean to be rude but that is a pretty high price. Not to mention that you're buying this many baked goods at once..."
"Papa could have bought everything inside this bakery if he wants to!" Athanasia chimed in. "Because papa is a big boss at a big company! A CEO!"
... Claude had to make a mental note for himself to remind him to teach Athanasia that she should not give out random personal information about either of them to strangers once they return home.
He was expecting Felix to pry more information about him being a CEO out of either him or Athanasia.
But instead, he just acted as if he didn't hear anything.
"Well, even if your father is a CEO of a large company, if he's able to sell out the entire bakery, I'm sure my boss would pass out from shock," Felix joked before pushing the large paper bag with everything Claude bought inside. "Funny story, she actually did end up passing up from shock after we were given our first ever large cake order for a wealthy child's birthday party."
"Well, I sincerely hope she won't end up passing out if more people end up ordering cakes and other pastries from this bakery," Claude responded. "She might have to go to a hospital if that happens a lot."
... Was that supposed to be a joke or something?
Claude cleared his throat from how awkward he suddenly felt and looked down at his wallet to pull out the exact amount of money he needed to pay for everything. "I'm... not that good when it comes to making jokes," he admitted.
"... Oh, that was a joke?" Felix asked.
Athanasia shook her head in disapproval. "Papa, you're terrible at making jokes. This is why people either think you're a serious grumpy man or a socially awkward man."
'When and where did she learn to be so sassy to her own father?' Claude wondered, trying to act calm.
"... Here's the money." He tried to ignore the quiet stare from Athanasia and gave the money to Felix. When he looked at him did he realise that this was the first time they made proper eye contact with each other.
For the first time since coming here, Jewel blue eyes met up with warm grey ones face to face.
Felix froze up all of a sudden, confusing Claude. He tilted his head. "Felix, are you alright?"
A few seconds later, Felix blinked multiple times before realising that he was still at work. There was a faint blush on his face and he smiled nervously. "A-Ah! My apologies," he apologised as he accepted the money. "I was... genuinely stunned at your eyes. I'm sorry if that sounds weird."
Ah, his eyes. It was considered a rare condition and the only people who had it were people in his family. The jewel blue eyes were always associated with the people within the Obelia family. His ancestors, his father, his older brother, his niece, his daughter...
Basically, they all had jewel blue eyes. The reason why? No one had any idea.
"It's alright," Claude reassured Felix. "I'm used to people being surprised by my eye colour."
"Oh, I see... Well...," Felix's words trailed off before putting the money inside the cash register. He then gave him the receipt with a warm smile. "Well, I just thought that your eyes remind me of sapphires somehow. It's nice."
"... Okay then?"
Well, this was a bit awkward.
"Papa, papa!"
"Hm?" After noticing the hem of his shirt being tugged down, Claude looked down and saw his daughter holding out a singular chocolate cookie in front of him. "... Athanasia, you know that I don't like desserts."
"But you might like it! You never know if you hate it unless you try it, papa," Athanasia told him in an as-a-matter-of-fact voice. That sort of statement sounded really weird when it's coming from a seven-year-old child. "The cookies are so delicious! Please, papa? Just one..."
Claude stared at her blankly before looking at Felix who shrugged his shoulders.
'... At least be glad that there are no customers inside other than us,' he thought begrudgingly before going down on one knee so he could be at the same eye level as Athanasia. He opened his mouth and his daughter happily fed him the single cookie. He then stood up and slowly munched on the sickeningly sweet and crunchy snack.
...
...
...
"It tastes... alright, I guess," Claude mumbled, his voice slightly muffled by the cookie in his mouth.
"See? What did I tell you? I knew you'd like it!" Athanasia said proudly with her arms folded across her chest.
Felix smiled at the girl's energetic demeanour. It seemed to Claude that he was wondering how such a small ball of energy came from someone who looked like he'd rather stay at home all day.
"Your relationship with your daughter is adorable, sir," Felix commented.
"It's Claude."
"Pardon?"
"My name. What? Since you did give my daughter your name and my daughter gave hers to you, might as well join in to not feel so left out, right?"
"O-Oh... Mister Claude?" Felix tried to say his name.
"Just drop the 'Mister'. Judging by your appearance, I wouldn't be surprised if we're around the same age," Claude told him.
"... As you wish... Claude... Ah, I'm sorry but it does feel a bit embarrassing for me to call you so casually like that when this is our first time meeting, haha!"
'... Hm. That's weird," Claude thought while he silently stared at the red-haired man who was running his fingers through his hair. For a moment he thought his heart skipped a beat. It was most likely his own mind playing tricks on him.
"If that's the case, then feel free to add in 'Sir' before saying my name," Claude said casually. He looked at his wristwatch and knew that it was time for him and Athanasia to leave this bakery. Annoyingly for him, his older brother Anastacius and his daughter Jennette were coming over soon in the evening and he had to... mentally prepare himself in order to deal with his brother.
"Well, Felix. We'll be taking our leave for today," he said before calling out Athanasia who was looking at the desserts in the display case. "Athanasia, it's time to go. Remember, your cousin is coming over."
"Okay!" Athanasia exclaimed before rushing towards him. She almost tripped but fortunately, she managed to grab Claude's shirt in time to prevent herself from falling. Giggling, she turned around and waved at Felix. "Goodbye, Mister Felix! It was nice talking to you!"
"Bye-bye, Miss Athy." Felix waved back.
Claude pulled the front door open and was about to leave the bakery but he stopped in his tracks when he heard Felix calling him.
"Sir Claude?"
"Hm?"
Claude turned his head around and looked at Felix with a surprised expression when he smiled warmly at him. A smile that would make anyone feel comforted just by looking at it.
"I hope you have a wonderful day. And please come again!" Felix said. It was something he'd say to every single customer who'd leave the bakery.
But there was something about the way he said that made it sound like he was actually looking forward to seeing Claude again.
And for some reason, Claude felt a bit... flattered by that.
"... Of course," was all he could say before leaving the bakery with his daughter. After the door closed behind them, the father-daughter made their way to his Mercedes-Benz.
The trip to the car was quiet. Athanasia was happily munching on her chocolate muffin while Claude was deep in thought about something.
"... I suppose we can make time to visit the bakery from time to time every Saturday...," Claude mumbled, still deep in thought. 'That Felix guy is quite an amusing fellow to be around.'
"Eh?!" Athanasia looked up at her father in complete shock.
That was obviously wonderful news for the girl because she really loved the snacks there.
***
Ten minutes had passed since Claude and Athanasia left the building.
"I heard a lot of laughter coming from here," Lily said as she came out of the kitchen to check up on her employee and close friend. Felix was busy sweeping the floor with a broom to get rid of the cookie crumbs on the floor. The brunette smiled and placed her hands on her hips. "You're whistling. Did something good happen to you just now?"
Felix slowly turned his head around to look at Lily. There was a goofy smile present on his handsome face. "If you consider a pretty man coming in here with his cute daughter and he's like... really pretty that you can't stop staring at him as a good thing? Then yes, something good did happen."
"... Ah, so you're in love with a customer. That's a first."
Felix chuckled to himself. "Ahh... I really do hope that they come here more often soon."

Dreamwastaken x reader
pairing: dream x chromesthetic!reader
warnings:
summary: y/n had a bit of a not so good day so a bit of a chill night was clays solution
a/n:<chromesthesia is a type of synesthesia in which sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color, shape, and movement. Individuals with sound-color synesthesia are consciously aware of their synesthetic color associations/perceptions in daily life.>
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The spoon in y/n’s cup clinked against the sides while she stirred the warm tea she’d just made.
The day was rainy and cold, very gray and dreary. Y/n wasn’t fond of rain purely for the fact it wasn’t nice background noise. The pitter patter left an annoying pattern in the back of her head the entire day and it was just really not fun at all.
Clay was well aware of this, he sort of figured it out early on with how prominent y/n’s hatred of rain was. He remembers early on when they’d only talked through discord calls she used to ramble angrily about the rain outside her window. He never asked why, but after learning about how some noises effected her because of her chromesthesia he only figured this was one of those noises.
“Alright in there?” Clay said softly as he poked the side of her head. He’d made his way into the kitchen and unknowingly snuck up behind her.
She jumped a tad upon hesring him, “Oh- I- yeah. Yeah I’m alright.
Unconvinced, Clay placed a soft hand on her upper arm and rested his chin on her shoulder, “then why do you look so overwhelmed?”
He could really read her like a book and it was slightly intimidating.
“M’not..just annoying and all.” She mumbled, leaning her head against his. Clay slid an arm around her and pressed himself close, his head still on her shoulder.
“What’s annoying?” His thumb was brushing small circles into her hip.
“The rain. It’s all gray and shit.” Y/n’s brows furrowed and she pouted.
Clay held back a chuckle, not wanting to laugh at her annoyance, “How about we go sit and listen to some music?” He pulled his head off her shoulder to look at her.
Y/n thought for a second before looking up at him, “wanna listen to you.”
“To me?” He questioned.
Y/n nodded, a small pout still adorned her lips. Clay brushed his thumb over her bottom lip before placing a small kiss on it, “Hm. Alright. I can work with that.”
Gently he grasped her mug by the handle and placed it next to the sink, then he grabbed her hand to tug her along with him to his room.
He pulled a sweatshirt of his off a hanger in his open closet, handing it to her to pull on.
As she did, he pulled the extra pillows from his bed and pulled back the blankets for her to sit with him under.
Once they were all situated, y/n was sat against his chest and clay had her arms around her, clay looked down at her.
“What am I talking about?” He kept his voice soft, not snarky, and a little gravely. Almost exactly the same as his morning voice except without the trace of sleep in the undertones.
Y/n shrugged, clay rested his cheek against her head and laced his fingers with hers in both hands.
“How about...do you remember the first time you met my little sister?” He asked her, his thumb playing with hers.
Y/n nodded softly, trying to focus on the maroon red tones of his voice.
“I remember you were so nervous but she liked you immediately. You couldn’t keep that cute little grin off your face the whole time.” He paused for a moment. “I remember talking to my mom while watching you both, and she was asking me all these mom questions.” He chuckled softly,
Y/n focused on the way his chuckle looked like airy swirls, covering the gross looking rain sounds.
“She was totally trying to hint you would be an amazing mom, which I already knew, but it was sorta funny. I love seeing you with my family because i love how much they love to have you around.” He was pretty much just thinking out loud. “It’s like they almost love you as much as me.”
He paused. Y/n stared forward, eyes a tad wide.
“You...you what?” Y/n spoke gently, leaning forward a tad to turn and look at him.
“I- uh..yeah. I love you.”
It looked like a trillion little leaves pulling together into a neat little pile. It looked like a sweet hum, it was such a beautiful sentence. Y/n fully turned her body, sitting criss cross between his legs now.
“Say that again.” Y/n looked at him, her eyes curious and a giddy little grin on her face.
Clay chuckled, “I love you y/n.”
Y/n dramatically fell back onto the blankets. “Again!”
Clay leaned forward placing a teasing kiss on her lips, “are you gonna say it back or?..” he hummed teasingly
Y/n giggled and clay grinned wildly, “I love you too.”
Clay tackled her into a hug while showering her in kisses all over her face.
Maybe the rain wasn’t so bad.

The Return of Drunk!Corin
I wasn’t planning on this one-shot, but the art deity @cacodaemonia wished for it and considering how endlessly kind she is to grace us with her art, it seems like the least I could do! I hope Zev’s sufferings can bring a smile! ;)
-
It's late. Zev'sonya empties the final content of her glass into her mouth and gets it down with a big swallow before placing the glass on the table. Time to go to bed. Those stupid ex-Troopers, still giggling and drinking over by the other table, are going to be wrecks tomorrow and someone has to be able to defend this place if something should happen.
Okay, so Mose hasn't indulged in anything but food and water and Din is still somewhat sober, but Zev'sonya hasn't seen Raga or Paz in a while and suspect they might be stowed away somewhere private and getting equally as drunk as these aforementioned ex-Trooper idiots.
At the opposite side of the room, Leo says something that has them all howling with laughter. It is the signal for her to hurry out of there before his drunken attention swings her way. It's even more difficult to snap at him when he's all soft and vulnerable like he tends to get on nights like these.
Getting up on her feet and walking towards the door, Zev'sonya is so busy focusing on dodging Leo that she forgets about the other threat in the room.
All it takes is an accidental brush of her arm against him as she walks by and the contact makes him turn towards her, arms reaching out and wrapping themselves around her a Deneba plant, and Zev'sonya abruptly finds herself trapped and hugged by a very drunk Corin Valentis.
Grunting annoyed as she's squeezed front first to his chest, she then gives him a couple of awkward pats on his back. “Yes, yes, thank you. Very nice. I was just leaving.”
“We never get to talk.” Corin says, his lips by her ear and his voice sounds both sleepy and happy, which he tends to get on nights like these. “I mean, I talk to Mose a lot. Leave-it too. But you... you tend to avoid me.” Suddenly there is a touch of sadness to his words as he continues; “I think you're awesome, but you don't like me much, huh?”
Zev'sonya twitches, feeling trapped by both his arms and his words. She does like him. She just doesn't do... this very well. Any other random man holding her like this would have been curled up in pain on the floor by now, but she knows Corin isn't hugging her to cop a feel and he won't try anything creepy. He just gets extremely tactile when he drinks and means no harm. “I like you just fine, Corin. I don't do small talk, that's all.”
Corin hums, all happiness again, still holding her close. “Yeah. You're like Din. You two get along.”
Zev'sonya frowns a little and moves her hand up to touch the skin on his neck. “You're hot.”
“Thank you.” Corin chirps. “You too.”
“No, I mean,” she feels the heat radiating from him, even through some of his clothes, “do you have a fever? Are you sick?”
“No.” Corin sounds unfazed. “I'm fine. Din just says I run warm. Whatever that means.”
“Oh.” Zev'sonya stands there and waits for him to let go. He doesn't, just rocks her gently and hums happily. She sighs and pats his back again. “Okay, right, time for me to leave.”
“Nooo....” Corin tightens his grip on her. “Stay. We'll be best friends. I'll make you bracelet.”
Gritting her teeth and losing patience, Zev'sonya lets her hands drop to her sides. “I will stab you.”
“No, you won't.” Corin leans back and lets go, but before she can escape he cups her face between his hand and holds her still to stare into her eyes. She can feel her cheeks getting squished by his palms and her lips pursing a little under the pressure.
Corin tries to give her a solemn look that keeps getting interrupted by his drunken smile. “Do you know why?”
She tries to glare.
“Because you're really a nice person.” Corin gives a sage nod. “Yes, you are. Mm-hm.”
She tries to glare harder.
“I've seen all the good things that you do. Even when you think no one is watching.” Corin leans in and rests his forehead against hers. “I know you care. About us. A lot. A whole bunch of lot.”
Zev'sonya's face flares up with embarrassed heat. “Corin.”
“You like to act all angry because you're hurting.” Corin continues in a soft tone. “I've been there. I understand.”
To her horror, Zev'sonya has a moment where her eyes sting with the threat of possible tears but luckily that brings the anger back and she starts squirming. “It's no act, I am angry. Corin, you-”
“It's okay.” Corin croons, dragging her into a new hug and wrapping his arms tight around her.
“Corin!” Zev 'sonya snaps. “Will you-”
“Oh my...” A familiar voice says.
Zev'sonya manages to turn her head and sees Leo standing there, staring at them. She exhales with relief. Finally the stereotypical male jealousy can be useful! “Could you-”
“Don't. Move.” Leo orders, waving his hands to underline the importance of his words. “This is so cute. I gotta get a holo-cam! Stay right there!” He runs off and leaves her stunned with disbelief.
Two and a half second after that, she's snapped out of her surprised apathy by a loud slurping noise.
Turning her head, she sees Mose standing there. He's holding a large drinking container with one of those straws to drink from, and he is looking at her and Corin with a smug expression on his face.
“Mose.”
“Lorda.” He replies, taking another sip, staying where he is.
Zev'sonya gestures to Corin and raises her eyebrows in a mute order to remove him.
Mose slurps some more before he lowers the drink and sighs with fake remorse. “So... do you remember when he was clinging to me and I asked you for help?”
“Yeah?” Zev'sonya grits out, remembering how she'd merely laughed and savored the sight.
“Exactly.” Mose goes back to slurping and watching, with not the faintest intention of rescuing her.
“This isn't funny” Zev'sonya growls, not calmed by Corin stroking her back in a soothing manner.
Mose shrugs. “A little bit.”
Zev'sonya can think of at least eleven ways to get back at him but doesn't get to hiss them in alphabetical order as there is yet another voice speaking up.
“What's going on?”
Again, Zev'sonya is hit with relief and she turns, as much as Corin will let her while he hushes her softly and strokes her back, so she can send a meaningful look at the Mandalorian standing nearby. “Din.” She gestures to the human leech attached to her. “Would you mind?”
Din crosses his arms while his helmet tilts in an almost thoughtful manner. And when he speaks, there is no hiding the grin in his words. “What's in it for me?”
Betrayal on all sides! Zev'sonya cannot believe what she's hearing. “A not-stabbed boyfriend!”
Corin hushes her again, squeezing her tight for a moment to underline how much he cares, and she is seconds away from just screaming with frustration when there is the flash of light and she sees Leo standing there with a holo-cam scanning them.
“No.” Zev'sonya states with no room for debate. “Leo, I'm warning you...” She squirms again but Corin isn't only warm, he's freakishly strong too and she is reluctant to use force. “Leo, leave it!”
Din clears his throat and steps over to the blond idiot, who simply keeps scanning them with the holo-cam with drunken determination. “Listen, if you want to slide in there, I could take the picture?”
Zev'sonya bares her teeth in pure fury while Leo gasps with delight; “Would you?”
Din grabs the holo-cam while Leo runs over. Zev'sonya is planning a harsh kick to Leo's shin, but before she can deliver it; Corin grabs her and turns her a little and suddenly they are cheek to cheek, with Leo kneeling in front of them, arms spread, - A loud slurp confirms Mose's towering shape behind them - and everyone facing the Mandalorian about to immortalize the moment.
“Smile!” Din declares cheerfully, as the rays from the holo-cam begin to scan them.
“I'm stabbing all of you!” Zev'sonya snarls.
-
The image turns out hideous. Corin and Leo are flustered, messy haired and grinning like idiots. Mose is leaning in behind them all to be in the image, still holding that big drinking container and sucking on that straw. And Zev'sonya herself? Well, she looks... grumpy.
It probably the least flattering image of herself she's ever seen.
But if Zev'sonya ends up saving that image instead of just deleting it? Well, then that's her business, isn't it?

Here’s another repost, but this time I edited one part because I didn’t like how I wrote it the first time.
Warnings: swearing, omegaverse
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x reader x Eijirou Kirishima
“How exactly did I end up like this? (Yn) sighed playing with the hem of the new hoodie that adorned her body. It was black with a red hood and the word ‘princess’ scrawled in red cursive diagonally across the torso, the 'i’ was dotted with a skull wearing a crown.
Where Katsuki found it she’ll likely never know, she loved it though. She always loved his courting gifts. he was surprisingly thoughtful about them, typically getting her things he noticed she needed. So, what’s the problem then? If she was happy with his attempts at courtship, then why was she so distraught? Simple, there was another Alpha attempting to court her. Eijirou Kirishima, one of Katsuki’s closest friends was also interested in her.
She reached a hand up, gently stroking the pale orange ribbon holding her hair out of her face. It was kinda funny actually that their gifts to her always had an element that reminded her of the other. It was wishful thinking, she knew it was, but she couldn’t help but hope that it meant something, anything.
It would be easier that way. She wouldn’t have to choose that way. She huffed at herself, annoyed by her own selfishness. She couldn’t stand these feelings of hers, but she couldn’t stand the thought of being without either of them more. A bitter taste crawled its way into her mouth as a revaluation came to mind: if she chose an Alpha, she’d likely ruin their friendship.
Why couldn’t she have just fallen for one Alpha? And why did she have to go and fall for a pair of best friends? Really though how could she not? Eijirou was so kind and caring, always paying attention to things she liked and encouraging her to strive for the best. He always knew what to say to cheer her up and when to say it. And Katsuki? Well, while a little rough around the edges he was caring in his own way. Making sure she took care of herself and scolding her when she didn’t. He was a lot easier on her than most realized, his stern voice holding a harsh tone but never quite rising to a yell.
She sighed once again deciding to put those thoughts to the side for a moment. She had a more relevant, slightly less frustrating situation to deal with. They were late. They always met her outside the library to walk her back to the dorms. Eijirou would happily talk about his day making sure to ask about hers. While Katsuki would occasionally interject to correct a detail or two, or remind them both of homework or a test they needed to study for. They hadn’t ever forgotten before so, where were they?
She huffed starting to think that she should just head off on her own when she heard voices coming closer to her. She perked up when two familiar scents made their way to her nose despite the disgustingly overly sweet scents that fallowed them. "Seriously we really need to go, we hav-” “Oh come on! Can’t you spend a little time with us?” a voice purred out. A very flirty voice. (Yn) could feel anger starting to bubble up in her chest. Were some other Omegas trying to take her Alphas away?
She started her way over to the source of the sound, beyond pissed with she found. Her Alphas looked so uncomfortable. Some girls had practically wrapped themselves around them, it was clear that neither boy wanted to be in the situation. Katsuki looked close to blowing them up and Eijirou was trying desperately to pry himself free without harming the Omega clinging to him. “Wouldn’t you rather spend time with us than some indecisive sl-” “Fuck off!” Katsuki finally snapped “You have some fucking nerve, clinging to us like a pair of desperate fucking skanks and still have the audacity to think that you’re somehow better than our Omega?!”.
Despite her anger she couldn’t help the happy fluttering of her heart. 'Our’ his words replayed in her head 'He said our! Our Omega!’. She took a second to enjoy the feeling before returning to her original goal of getting those brats away from them. She gave a sweet smile while clearing her throat, gaining all their attention and playing innocent as she marched up to the two boys and pushing past the two other Omegas.
“What took you so long!” she whined nuzzling herself between them as close as she could “I’ve been waiting here for the past fifteen minutes at least!”. “Sorry Princess” Katsuki caught on to her game quickly, immediately calming down “We got held up”. Eijirou looked at them both confused for a moment before deciding to play along figuring that he wouldn’t be able to get out of their little game anyways “Yeah, you know we wouldn’t just leave you all by yourself unless something happened”. “Hm…” she hummed looking pointedly at the two Omegas who still stood in front of them with shock and disgust on their faces “I guess that explains why you both smell like cheap trash”.
Both Alphas had to bite their tongues trying not to laugh. They never knew she could be so petty but somehow it was endearing in way. “Excuse me?!” one of them screeched in a shrill voice “You’re excused”. “What?!” she screeched again taking a step closer only to be stopped by her friend who looked a bit fearful. “You heard me, you and your clearly smarter than you friend can leave and if I even smell you near my Alphas again-”.
“You’ll what? Send them after me?” (Yn) had to admit, that bitch had an almost admirable amount of stubborn bravery. “I don’t know about you, but I don’t have to rely on any Alpha to fight my fights for me. I got into the hero course on my own and I can definitely handle two brats who don’t know when to quit on my own” her voice was just as sickly sweet as their scents as she smiled and turned on her heels walking away with her boys and leaving the omegas behind before the had the chance too respond.
Their walk back to the dorms fell back into its normal pattern the only exception being the fact that she held their hands in her own. “So…” she mumbled wishing she could just leave well enough be, but she had to know “Are you two really ok with sharing an Omega?”. She looked at the ground as she spoke to nervous to look at either of them. They stopped walking and she swore she could hear her heart beating in her ears. “What are you talking about?” her heart stopped, she was dead, her heart had stopped and now she was dead. Eijirou sighed continuing to talk “We aren’t some five-year old’s who are fighting over the same toy, and you’re not a toy”. She breathed a sigh of relief but couldn’t quite shake all of her worries “You’re sure, right? This won’t be a problem?”. “Of course, not” Katsuki grumbled before ruffling her hair “You should know by now that I don’t share, you’re just as much mine as he is”. “Katsuki!” Eijirou yelled at him scolding him for his phrasing. (Yn) laughed watching them bicker, she couldn’t imagine herself without them.
