Idk why, but in s1, I’m able to see the romantic subtext with Geia, but in s2, they just feel like best friends to me. Like I don’t get the ‘oh shit they’re in love’ vibe anymore.

I’ve been obsessed for ages with the idea of a Mari Boss thats similar in some aspects to the Omori Final Boss fight: especially in the confrontation of the truth (“You loved her and you killed her”)

I’m not 100% sure when I would set this in terms of the game plot but it would definitely happen at some point towards the end of the Hikkikomori route, possibly before the death of Stranger.

While the Boss Rush Mari was already an awesome way for Sunny to be confronted with the weight of what he’s done to his mind, I feel like a more direct approach where Mari actively asks and then begs him to accept the truth would be SUPER impactful for the player

Killing Mari would be a final straw in the rejection of the truth - killing the sister Sunny loved so much because she tries to convince him to confront the truth of the incident, and being able to create a Better, Newer version in Headspace who leaves him to lie to himself and the others.

Dbdidnsisjisjaa i just think that Mari giving Sunny a chance to take an easy win, to guide him through Memory Lane and help him work through his fear of the truth, and Sunny promptly killing her and burying himself deeper in denial would be SO GOOD

Because it also adds an extra layer to the “You loved her and you killed her” - the first time was a complete accident, but this is a conscious choice. Sunny is actively deciding to murder his sister (this is made WORSE if you think of DW!Mari/Something as a guardian spirit who is legitimately Mari trying to help him).

Bonus points:

-Mari never actively harming Sunny because even if she’s angry or upset she doesn’t want to actually hurt him

- Most of Mari’s “attacks” are just status effects like slowing Sunny down or decreasing crit rate

- There is no Run Away option: this is no longer within the players control, this is a direct consequence of the players choice to pursue the Hikkikomori route

- At the final stage of the battle, the “attack” button and all skills turn into lie - it does the same damage, and Sunny doesn’t really need to bother with healing since Mari won’t hurt him

I am in the middle of the episode Lazaretto (s2e12) from midst the podcast and they keep saying that the grandmother “seems” kind and nice and how even park trusts her and she has separated all the characters and I’m very very concerned rn. Like this is either going to go very very well or very very poorly (that bit where she let out her breath and complained about phinneas strikes me as concerning and possibly manipulating??? But every one seems to trust her so maybe she’s okay)

Sometimes I feel like... people get annoyed that I still work with RE8 so much....? The game turns 3 this year and its been a massive driving force for me personally, but sometimes my head can't help but wander to if people think its... not 'immature' or 'childish' to cling to it, but its like everyone moved on so quickly after the first year. Like I'm kinda stuck in the past because of how much it means to me.

I do love other media, I've been going batshit insane with the stories for BG3, but artistically RE8 is... home. And having my brain say 'no one gives a fuck, move on' definitely hurts quite a bit. Its like my 'popularity' days are over, in a kind of fucked up way, and i know its not true.

But... yeah. That gets in my head a little sometimes. Has been for the past year or so.

Obviously I'm still going strong with them, and somt stop anytime soon. Metalworks is the 4th longest storyline I've had, with the longest being 13 years(Naruto). Its here to stay no matter what anyone else things.

My brain just sucks ass.

Agree or disagree: Caroline and Tyler only happened because everyone sans Tyler (who was figuring shit out slowly on his own) knew about everything about werewolves and their lore ahead of time and their failure to just simply include him led to Caroline having to do damage control after Mason's death to get a handle on the situation.

Kinda? As someone who does love forwood and their story, I also think with the way it was written, it was there to help Caroline more than Tyler.

I remember @scorpio-karma mentioning that Bonnie would’ve been a better person in season 2 for Tyler to turn to, which I agree? Like no hate to Caroline, but she has no empathy whatsoever. Which especially shows in the later seasons.

But I feel like it would’ve been more interesting to see them bond and join forces in s2. Especially given how many parallels they have (which @scorpio-karma also mentioned 😊)
