Astarion taking to sleeping more often rather than trancing after the events of the game.
When elves trance, they relive memories. In an Astarion origin playthrough, we see how his memories of Cazador tend to invade his trances. And trance memories are exact. Vivid. You can literally choose to have him try to make out what the scars on his back say by having him relive the carvings through that trance. Right?
So, post-game, he tries to stick to trancing. It’s more convenient. It’s what elves do. It’s what he’s always done.
Every night, it’s visions of Cazador.
One night, he’s so exhausted from reliving those same damn memories that he just passes out on a bed the moment he hits it. He sleeps fully. And sure, he has some nightmares. But they’re nowhere near as vivid, as real, as trancing makes his memories feel. They’re fuzzy. When he wakes, he finds he can barely remember the specifics of them.
And that’s so much better. Not perfect- he’d rather not see Cazador’s face ever again, but fuzzy was better than clear.
So Astarion takes to sleeping rather than trancing whenever he needs rest. And he’s an absolute ugly sleeper. He’ll sprawl all over the bed, wake up with his hair every which way, drool, hell, he even snored one night and wouldn’t believe anyone telling him that. He’s too dignified to snore, you cretin.
He wakes up groggy and oftentimes takes at least an hour to get himself up, drifting in and out of consciousness, but… he also doesn’t constantly feel on edge as much as he used to. He can afford to be groggy so long as he’s safe.
And he is safe.

Physical Copies of Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy
Tumblr media
In response to great demand—as well as figuring out a good way to do it—we have finally made the definitive decision to include physical copies as part of the Kickstarter. (Still crowdfunding until May 10th!)
Every backer who has backed the $22 tier or more will be eligible to receive a physical copy of the Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy rulebook, and every backer who backed the $32 tier or more will be eligible to receive a physical copy of both the Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy rulebook and a physical copy of the three adventure modules.
We are planning to do this through Drivethrurpg’s print-on-demand service, and offer every backer of the relevant tiers the opportunity to order an at-cost copy of the items.
Something to keep in mind is that this does mean that you will have to pay separately for your physical copy, and pay shipping, but it will ultimately still be a great discount.
This will also mean a bit of extra work for our team at no extra pay to make it happen, but enough of our fans begged us that we really couldn’t refuse as soon as we found a viable way to do it.
You will be able to enjoy your physical copies some time after the rest of the backer rewards are fulfilled. :)
Keep spreading the word about Eureka, we’re just a few more backers away from another stretch goal!

If you want to try before you buy, you can download a free demo of the prerelease version from our website or our itch.io page!
If you’re interested in a more updated and improved version of Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy than the free demo you got from our website, subscribe to our Patreon where we frequently roll our new updates for the prerelease version!
You can also support us on Ko-fi, or by checking out our merchandise!
Join our TTRPG Book Club At the time of writng this, Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is the current game being played in the book club, and anyone who wants to participate in discussion, but can’t afford to make a contribution, will be given the most updated prerelease version for free! Plus it’s just a great place to discuss and play new TTRPGs you might not be able to otherwise!
We hope to see you there, and that you will help our dreams come true and launch our careers as indie TTRPG developers with a bang by getting us to our base goal and blowing those stretch goals out of the water, and fight back against WotC's monopoly on the entire hobby. Wish us luck.

While I wasn't familiar with any of the players in the four hour plagiarism YouTube video (besides the Sherlock Is Garbage and Here's Why guy), coincidentally a blog post came out today about a book full of plagiarism within the TTRPG scene. And in this case I was familar with the plagiarizing author. I followed her on Twitter for a while (her personal account seems to be gone now) and while she could be... acerbic is one way to put it, shit-stirring is another, she had some insightful posts. Somebody doesn't need to be nice to have a point. This is disappointing.

i love watching max haters cry when he does something they personally dislike but is completely legal because they are absolutely seething, foam collecting at the corners of their mouths, 500 quote tweets begging the fia to take action all because they can’t be assed to flip open a rule book.

Was gonna write a long ass post about this but honestly I think I've said everything that could be said but it is really insane to me still that Hank McCoy loved the X-Men enough to torture, kill, assault and betray anyone that needed torturing, killing, assaulting or betrayed, but he didn't love them half as much as he loved Simon Williams. Isn't it insane that Simon was the only man in the 5 years we've seen him descend to give him something resembling a conscience, to make him give up everything if it meant Simon would be safe. Isn't that fucking insane.

sga headcanon time bc I can't sleep
Elizabeth does things differently. the sgc was, in a word, institutional. there were strict regulations that she very quickly realized would not work in the Pegasus galaxy. so she changed them slowly.
she noticed that most of the scientists would get caught up in what they were doing and work through their breaks and shift ends, so she set up intercom reminders for mealtimes and breaks. she heard some of the crew complaining about how uncomfortable the uniforms were, and frankly she didn't care much for them either, so she slowly made the rules more lax from letting people wear graphic tees under the jackets to comfortable shoes until eventually no one was wearing the uniforms. she allowed for adaptive reports, and recreational experiments, and sure why shouldn't the physicists turn that empty corridor into a bowling alley.
but, most importantly, she changed how they viewed her. with the SGC being a military operation, so many of her people worshipped at the alter of the chain of command. and you know what they say - it's lonely at the top. Elizabeth wanted them to treat her like an equal, a friend, one of them; to be able to come to her with anything. she wasn't some sovereign ruling over them from her glass office, she was a member of this expedition just like all of them. John, Rodney, Carson, and Teyla all treated her like a friend, and she loved that feeling so much she wanted the rest of them to treat her that way. and by making her office a safe place, it didn't take long for that to happen.
