The Small Moments

its the small moments in whump for me, those glimpses right before and after your character loses it all in no chronological order

-- the hitched breath after a blow to the face

-- the sound of footsteps in the hallway, and the flinching when the door opens

-- the soft sound, more animal than human, when whumpee pulls a blood-drenched hand away from their side

-- caretaker leaning over whumpee, whispering assurances that they cant keep

-- when the curses catch in whumpee's throat and all they can manage is a strangled, don't...please

-- when whumpee stumbles and clings to the doorway. better when they look up and meet caretaker's eyes. The slow, dreaded realization. caretaker lunges forward, but not in time to catch whumpee

-- when whumpee's head hits the tiles with a thud

-- the panic they swallow down when they see Whumper for the first time

-- the added details of used knives, splattered with dried blood, faded from crimson to rusty brown

-- the dead, hollowed-out light in whumpee's eyes after they're rescued

-- coughing that turns into whumpee doubling over, and desperately, so desperately trying to hide the fact they coughed up blood

-- a still hand, palm up on the floor, and no semblance of consciousness. The pool of blood around them is growing

-- caretaker pausing-- oh. oh god-- when they rush through the door to rescue whumpee, their eyes widening and stomach dropping, before cutting whumpee down from their restraints

-- Whumper tracing whumpee's jaw with the tip of their finger. "Now, isn't this nice."

-- When Whumper kicks Whumpee when they're already down and all Whumpee can manage is a small curse.

-- When Whumper yanks Whumpee's head up by their hair and Whumpee has to squint because of the sudden, sharp light

-- whumpee clutching a sink for a long moment before turning on the faucet and splashing water in their face to hide the fact they've been crying

alright, question. because this post is getting very long.

i've still got a couple more pages left of this, and this is kinda the first time i've been adding onto a comic arc in real time on tumblr. so i'd just like to hear opinions

#my polls #back on twitter doing my comics as threads was no problem lol #but threads work a bit differently on tumblr yknow #so i figured i should probably switch up the way i'm going about this #because i was just kinda winging it #it started with a redraw/reimagining of a WAY older comic #and well. the stuff i've got posted so far is technically a redraw! just... it got way longer and there's more details now. more writing #anything beyond the current point will be a continuation of this scene #for this specific comic arc anyway #i work in arcs. they're kinda all over the timeline but also the arcs themselves are kinda self contained i guess?#but yeah i have at least three pages more. maybe four #maybe five we'll see where i go next #idk man it's a supernatural slice of life comic #it doesn't need chronological storytelling.#yes there's a canon timeline but i'm not writing it in that order yknow #i like putting it together. like a puzzle. slowly making it make sense as a full picture #ah i see i'm rambling #but anyway. opinions. how do tumblr comics

Also me when trying to write a new opening scene for a new project: I have never written an opening scene in my life, what's an opening scene any more, has there ever truly been an opening scene to anything, there is no beginning, so there is no end, there is no one out there watching over this monstrosity, I am in the void, my mind is adrift, how do I open this scene without a key, where did I leave my keys??

#writeblr #writing #writer things #relatable #text post #i am struggling to write the opening to this one possible project i'm still lying to myself over the idea of working on it for nano #i don't really know where i want this guy to be when we're introduced to him #at first i was thinking mid heist gone wrong or something but it doesn't quite click and would require extraneous characters #then i was thinking retired from doing heists just going about his day when dragged back in but iffy on that as well #cuz how much of the character and vibe does it really show i want a good and not necessarily memorable but semi impactful 1st impression #i don't really know and i'm a very has to write in chronological order writer when doing these things #i mean in theory i can write random out of context scenes but in practice they're never getting put back into context if i do that #they're doomed to float forever until i find out how to chronologically do the rest so anyway #yeah need an opening if I want to make some writing dent at all but also feel like the pressure of perfectionism #which is hard to tamp down no matter how hard one tries so perfect opening when come on daydreams step up

Sometimes things bother me

#and i 100% dont say them out loud on the internet cause i dont wanna get crucified #but people distilling shit around chillchuck to just being “shotacon” pisses me off for reasons i know they dont intend #like i relate to chillchuck because im a disabled person #specifically a wheelchair user #ryoko kui did a perspective study of the party from chilchuck's perspective #and of where his eyeline is at on everyone's body #and i haven't felt more seen by anything in a long fucking time #like god chilchuck would understand how fucking awful it feels to be crammed in an elevator right at stomach and crotch height with everyone #and more than just that gut personal relation #half-foots like disabled people live shorter lives and its not clear if thats natural #or if its because they're seen as disposable #and the infantalization is so fucking textbook ableism #like yall thats a whole ass man #next people are gonna be saying its not okay to ship mithrun because he needs a carer #this is what people mean when they say shipping rots people's brains #it goes both ways #and it makes it impossible to really explore the complex topic of relationships in fiction #the portrayal of those relationships and how they interplay with the wider story #and you just flatten everything to Ship Good and Ship Bad or Shippable and Not Shippable #it makes it impossible to talk about actual problems in fan communities and point out actual dangerous behavior #because everyone's pointing fingers over shit without having proper discussions #and talking about characters like the #they're real people #while ignoring the things real people do do other real people #because they're treating people like characters #chilchuck is a blurry fucking line and because of that the devil is in the details #twitter ruined the internet with it's character limit by eliminating nuance #and all the algorithms eliminated context by shuffling shit out of chronological order #and this whole little mini rant is disjointed as fuck cause im doing it in tags #so i can only see half of my previous thought

The Kingdom Hearts Steam trailer was fire.

#it was very interesting to show the games in chronological order. and at first i wasn't sure about that. but i think it worked #and i think they did a pretty good job of boiling each game down in. like. five seconds or showing some of the most important parts of them #or memorable parts and quotes #also loved that they used kairi's letter quote from khii. that we khii fans used to say like an anthem for some reason back in the day #and as a sokai fan i naturally loved all the focus on them #and i think that was a new version of simple and clean?#overall: very nice. sometimes kh trailers can be hit or miss. especially when they're doing something crazy like trying to show ALL of the #games (or a lot of them) in one trailer but this was great #do i think it'll bring new fans in? maybe maybe not (it could make them curious) but i definitely think it'll get the fans who were related #for a steam release riled up #i think the trailer flowed pretty well too: surprisingly i don't think i said that in these tags even though i'd meant to

i love making fun of cognitive dissonance. free public transit but nyc>la HSR but happy to pay higher taxes for m4a and happy to pay higher taxes for free private college tuition but private college kids are dumb as shit but you should forgive HLS loans but someone else should cook meals and take care of the kids for me but frozen food came about when women entered the workforce but that coincided when 1 income households werent enough to feed a family but its a single tax that two income households make more money than one income households but people cant afford to eat out in capitalism but volunteering is too much to take on for our poor sensitive mentally ill and queer souls but that means we're all disproportionately likely to [insert bad societal situation here] and big businesses are evil but tiktok is good and in fact necessary etc etc etc etc etc etc

EDIT! I forgot Seven’s actual backstory, RIP. He’s part Bart Allen Clone and part alien cat/shark creature. I had him stuck next to Nine in the genealogy because they grew up as twins. but they’re actually as genetically distinct as two clones of the same person CAN be.

EDIT TWO: Now with color coding!! I am mad with power! Also before someone @s me for the terrible made-up word, “Gengineered” is the canon word that Thaddeus Thawne II, “Two”, used to describe the way that Thawne DNA was spliced into him at his creation.

THEIR CIVILITY in social gatherings stems from the fact they were born from a noble family , know the customaries and greetings as well as etiquette .
