Summer, the season of warmth and light, a time of vitality and Boneyard parties. Air filled with salty atmosphere and the smoke of the bonfire. Teenagers trickled onto the beach, dragging kegs in the sand, chairs, and stereos. Partiers shed layers of clothing to embrace the heat and the warmth of the bodies next to them. 

Y/N savored the Boneyard parties, enjoying her time with friends and her siblings, the drinks, and the people-watching. She fell into a rhythm of dancing with one of her twin’s boyfriend’s friends, JJ. Sarah mentioned JJ occasionally, but Y/N was surprised at how well they clicked. The first time JJ and Y/N met, he gave her a cold shoulder–until she assisted him in winning a Beer Pong game. 

After several drinks and dancing the night away, Y/N began to feel light-headed. JJ kept his hands around her waist as she slowed down, the scenery around her became spinning. Racking through ideas of why she felt like this–she’d forgotten to take her blood sugar before leaving the house. 

The music and the conversations drowned out the sound of her insulin pump beeping loudly, signaling her blood sugar increased dangerously high. She couldn’t seem to focus on anything around her before her pump began vibrating in her pocket. If she wasn’t light-headed enough, the vibration made it worse. 

“I need to sit down,” Y/N muttered, pulling away from JJ’s grasp. His brows furrow, still holding onto her waist before sitting her down on some driftwood. Weaker and weaker, Y/N began fumbling with her pump. Dread coursed through her at the epiphany she ran out of insulin. Her mouth felt parched.

“JJ–Where’s Sarah?” Her voice was weak, as she glanced around the party to find her twin. Sarah and Y/N were never separated for long, before they knew it, Sarah spotted her sister and raced over.

“Hey, what’s going on?” She questioned before the realization of the situation hit her. 

“Her pump keeps beeping and–”

“Sarah, get Rafe–he has the glucagon in his car–” Y/N waved her hand, limply. 

Her twin didn’t need to hear anymore before Sarah and the rest of the Pogues hunt down Rafe Cameron. JJ held Y/N in his arms, stroking her hair as she lay there, hoping to calm her down. He kept small talk, making sure she didn’t actually pass out. On the edge of his seat, he kept looking for his friends or Rafe, hoping they’d come back soon with insulin for Y/N. 

Explicitly, JJ never stated his feelings for the Cameron twin, but the Pogues picked up on it by his constant desire to be within arms reach or asking if she’d be joining them today on whatever adventures they voyaged on. 

If she wasn’t feeling like passing out, she would be embarrassed. Being seen as weak and vulnerable in front of others was deemed to be her worst fear. JJ’s words blurred together as her hearing faded in and out, her vision becoming hazy.

“Come here, Y/N” Rafe spoke, now supporting his younger sister. Despite Y/N and Sarah being twins, Rafe and she had an unspoken bond. The sibling relationship held no jealousy, but empathy for each other’s struggles and relationships with their father. No competition or underlying hatred–something Rafe held against Sarah for being the favorite child. “I got you, let’s get this going for you.”

Rafe fumbled with the device, despite training for this emergency multiple times. JJ watched him kneel down beside his sister, and the hatred between the two disappeared. Rafe never approved of his sisters hanging out with the Pogues, but when it came to Y/N and her diabetes, nothing mattered anymore.

As the insulin started to take effect, Y/N started to feel better. Rafe and JJ sat with her, keeping her company until she became fully conscious again. Rafe held her hand, stroking his thumb over it. Seeing his sister in such a distressed state only made things worse for Rafe–not wanting to get the backlash from their father. Y/N constantly reminded him that her diabetes would never be his fault if something bad happened to her–she made sure Ward knew too. 

 Pope, Kie, and the couple watched over Y/N s well, worried that they would have to call an ambulance. 

"Thanks, Rafe," Y/N said, feeling grateful. "I'm sorry I'm such a burden and killing the mood."

Rafe chuckled. "You're not a burden," he said. "You're my little sister. I'll always be here to take care of you." A side of Rafe Cameron not many people witness. If anything were to happen to his siblings, under his watch, he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself. 

The night ended shortly after, Pope offering to drive Y/N home s she could fill her pump with insulin. Accepting his offer, JJ rode in the backseat with the Cameron girl. Her head rested on his shoulder, Pope peeking through the rearview mirror to make sure nothing else went awry. The two helped her inside, not wanting to leave until she made herself comfortable, fixed her pump, and got some light food and water in her. 

“Thank you, Pope,” She wrapped his arms around him. She knew how much he disliked Rafe–just relieved neither JJ nor Pope let their feelings get in the way of her health. Letting go, she faced the blonde. 

Pope waited in the car, allowing the two to talk privately. 

“I was hoping we’d have more time together tonight to dance and talk.” She confessed. JJ laughed, nodding his head. He wished the night didn’t end the way it did as well. 

“Hm, maybe tomorrow we can make up for a lost time–only if you remember to take care of yourself.”

He takes it seriously, honestly more seriously than he should. Like magic will be involved and his aim is no joke

If it’s with an s/o or so he’s a bit nicer though still a bit competitive. Loser has to buy hot chocolate or so, that kind of thing

He prefers to read by a fireplace but also likes to let his inner childhood recover by joining a snowball war on the campus courtyards. He will likely target Ace and Deuce if they do the same and will team with Trey

He didn’t want to be part of it but here he is now having been hit by Lilia on accident

If Malleus is involved (or anyone in Diasomnia tbh) he will be super competitive. He’s also super athletic so he will have super endurance haha.

I think he would honestly just like sleeping in or doing some snowboarding/skiing activity during the winter holiday season. However snowball fights (especially more serious ones) do pique his interest

He doesn’t throw as hard with an s/o thankfully, however he has no problem hurling huge mounds of snow at other people :/

Azul

I feel like his first reaction to being hit by snow would be line “😰” and then suddenly he’s throwing a wall of snow because magic + arm strength

He is super competitive and snowball fights will just feed into that. He doesn’t like confrontation but if needed he will participate. He’s sneaky, he’s good at throwing things, but he has low endurance

With an s/o he will likely throw a very small amount of snow and will be super nice haha. However in any other circumstance he’s with Jade and Floyd with a whole snow fortress

He usually likes sitting and reading by a fire too during the winter, but he also likes to listen to holiday jazz classics

Kalim

He probably started the snowball fight first in his own dorm but then it grew into the entire school haha

Super chill and not that competitive. He’ll give his all but that doesn’t mean he’ll be sneaky or try to use magic to win. He’s just there to have fun and will do just that

With an s/o I feel like a snowball fight would result after a snowman building competition or so. Like it’s not the first thing in his mind but it can happen

He usually likes to just make hot chocolate and watch movies. However he also likes to play in the snow (mostly because his hometown doesn’t get any). He works with Jamil who might do most of the hard work in snowball fighting haha

Vil

Literally tried to avoid getting involved but was hit by accident from Epel and he immediately got ready haha

Competitive! He wants to do it with grace however so he looks good throwing snow at people but he’s also super good at throwing in general. He has Rook as well so whoever’s fighting Vil might wanna give up before a snow mound gets catapulted in their way

Vil likes watching vintage films or spending the holidays listening to good music and just chilling. If he had an s/o they would be part of his hobbies. They might go shopping too!

He’s just an overall menace in like everything. He would throw super well and might get on a competitive streak with Azul and Riddle

Idia

Probably got involved by accident. He was just walking and minding his own business (watching a gameplay) when suddenly snow hit his face. Ortho might’ve also convinced him to play

Not the best thrower but will find a tech that works for him (lmao make a snowball gun thing) and he just becomes a menace on the courtyard. He’s probably playing alongside Ortho

With an s/o he probably doesn’t throw snow back, just tells them like he found it kind of funny (might be a bit embarrassed tbh). He likes to spend time indoors and will want to play games with them on holidays

Overall I think he would rather watch people than be part of the fight. He might become the unofficial game announcer if people really want him to be it haha

Malleus

It was pure accident (maybe) when Leona hit Malleus with some snow. The next thing people knew hundreds of snowballs were hurled into the air

He’s not super competitive but likes to give his all, which means magic is involved and it’s almost deadly fighting with him haha. He has super good aim and has crazy high endurance when he’s really into something, so the game might go on four a really long time

With an s/o, he’s pretty nice about throwing snow. If anything, he’d rather go ice skating or do something wholesome with them (he has a soft spot for cute activities people just don’t know it).

Overall if he and Lilia are on your team y’all will win that snowball fight on the school courtyard 200%. He’s kind of competitive but honestly is just happy he’s invited to an event

Do you make your bed?: Yes! I'm not a neat-freak, but I consider myself quite neat

Favourite number: When I was a young child someone asked me this and I didn't know what to say so I pretended it was '86'. Since then, that's always just been what I've said… couldn't tell you why lol

What's your job?: Between roles atm, but usually a copywriter

If you could go back to school, would you?: For sure. I was really let down as a kid by the system, if I could go back but with the wisdom I have now, I would love to. As for further education, I loved my undergrad but I can't see myself realistically studying more on account of chronic illnesses

Can you parallel park / Can you drive a manual car?: Nope. I was good at parking and driving back when I was first learning over 10 years ago but never took my test because I got a lot of anxiety driving. I live in London now, so there's no urgent need to learn, but I will have to some day.

Do you think aliens are real?: Yes. Ain't no way we're the only life forms to exist in the whole universe, pleaseee

What's your guilty pleasure?: I love Britney Spears 💁‍♀️

Tattoos?: A small one, on my ankle. Two hands in a reference to Twin Peaks. I also just love the design — even if my tattoo artist did a slightly shoddy job and told me they did the exact same reference on tonnes of people ayyy lmao

Favourite type of music?: Easy answer is indie, though even that is a huuuuge umbrella. Some of my fave musicians are Mitski, Bright Eyes, AURORA, Radiohead, EELS, and Thumpasaurus. Also, a long-time MCR fan.

Do you like puzzles?: I'm wayyy too ADHD for them tbh but I don't mind some types of puzzles, like in video games. But even then, they can't go on for too long, lol

Any phobias?: Crowds are def my biggest one. I’m scared of pretty normal things I’d say, like hornets. I do have a lot of sensory issues though that give a similar feeling, the most unusual being cardboard. Do NOT touch it near me, I WILL scream. And slight trypophobia… 🤢

Favourite childhood sport: Always hated sports and exercise, even as a kid

Do you talk to yourself: I sing to myself (and in general) a lot and have big echolalia, but I don't really talk to myself in the traditional sense. Now my partner on the other hand… he does not stop yapping for even a second in the day.

What movie(s) do you adore?: The immediate go-to's in my brain are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Your Name, and… Shrek. Non-ironically.

Coffee or tea: Earl grey tea with oat milk, please! If not an option, I'll go for an oat milk mocha.

First thing you wanted to be growing up?: I… okay. I don't even know if I should admit this, but it's kinda funny… but remember, I was a CHILD. like, FIVE. My sister wanted to move to Africa and be a mango farmer (???) and I wanted to go with her so I said I wanted to sell shoes there because I saw a gap in the market. 😭😭

I decided to watch helluva boss and imma do 2 separate posts for seasons 1 and two (why did I write it like that…?)

Season one

God I love this show. The writing is way more my speed than Hazbin hotel on Amazon, I enjoyed the writing in the pilot, but once Amazon took over the humor just didn’t really land for me, and tbh the plot took over and I started focusing more on that, and in general I’m more partial to the rapid fire YouTube dry comedy and this sentence is a friggin mess- I found HB SO FREAKIN FUNNY

Dude when he goes “FUCK, a new hole” I lost it

“Hehe, Trumpet!”

These are just my kinda lines, I don’t know how to explain it, I was wheezing all throughout the season

The music OH LORD when I say I’ve listened to stolas’s lullabye, lulu land, cotton candy, and house of ozmodius like 100000 times I’m… exaggerating but like you get the point the music here is friggin fantastic I also really like how a lot of the music is diegetic, I think that’s a fun touch. I don’t remember whether this is the case in Hazbin, but in this one it was like… I don’t know, it made sense that they were singing when they were singing… am I articulating myself well? I don’t care, iykyk if not, no prob

The animation is great, Viv loves them spinny shots and I am here for it. The amount of genuinely amazing action scenes is super impressive, and even the chill scenes have a ton of personality

The voice acting might be what steals the show for me, idrk anyone’s names cept Alex Brightman but BLITZS VA NEEDS AN AWARD, also slight tangent but I don’t know what it is with stolas’s va but he sounds a lot like a bird in the same sense that Gary Oldman sounded a lot like a bird in Kung Fu Panda 2, what is it that casting directors recognize in actors that screams bird?! Because both of these men are just SO BIRD DOES ANYONE GET WHAT I MEAN moving on, Ozzie’s voice was also effing PERFECT it slid silkily over me like… silk butter or smtg it was the perfect lust voice, I loved it. Everyone else was also great, but they were extra great.

It was also just so fun? Like in hazbin there’s very little just… shenanigans to enjoy, nothing wrong with that because it’s not that type of show, whereas this season is jam packed with them. Like I’ve heard that everyone hated episode 4, but like I don’t know I loved it😆 I just found it to be good old fashioned chicanery, and I liked the chaos and stupidity of it, made for some entertaining TV. This story engine is just mad entertaining for me.

I also enjoyed the writing of most of the characters (Millie, Moxxie, Loona, and Octavia still leave a bit to be desired imo, but whatever, they can’t all be winners and there’s nothing wrong with them) Blitz kinda reminds me of a Barney Stinson type character, which I really enjoy, and I also really like how his boss persona kinda infects everything he does while simultaneously being what’s screwing him over, his nature is kinda like a snake swallowing its own tail, which is tragic and beautiful, and Stolas compliments him well by being, not an enabler, but… I don’t know a clever way to say this… Stolas is a wreck in the best way and he just works. He’s short sighted, like extremely so, like how he thinks sleeping with Blitz will fill his emotional void so he does it but it just drives them further apart so it’s like he’s in a hole and in order to get out he’s gonna dig to pile up dirt so he can climb out but he’s an idiot and that’s a stupid idea and I loved his whole arc. Very enjoyable stuff drama.

Kinda random but whoever Viv’s foli artist is also deserves an award, the sound effects in this show are pristine and it’s incredible (yes I’ve seen the scene where the gun sounds go off a few seconds too late, and yeah, mistakes happen, but every bone crunch sounds and other stuff like that being so enunciated in an indie show is extremely impressive)

Anyhoo, very fun, very emotional, nice to look at, very funny, yada yada- altogether great season 1.

It was summer break during the F1 and F2 season and you’d all decided to get away together. Well, Marcus and his friends, Juan, Felipe, James, Clem and their girlfriends had decided to go on a summer tour and naturally as Marcus’ best friend you received an extension of that invitation. “Marcus wait up!” You huffed in annoyance as you heard his laughter ahead of you, you whined in frustration, lacking any patience as your best friend raced on ahead, sprinting down towards the shoreline of the beach. “Hurry up sunshine!” You rolled your eyes at the nickname, “Stop calling me that!” Marcus stopped running and turned back to look at you with a cheesy grin. “You’ve been telling me that for years Y/N, I’m not gonna stop now!” As you stared at the boy in front of you, your heart clenched a little, god you loved him. And not just platonically. You smiled back, wishing more than anything you could just kiss him right now. You curled your hands into fists and dug your nails into your palm to ground yourself, he wasn’t yours. 

            ————————————— “Marcus wait up!” You called after the boy running ahead of you as your 9-year-old legs struggled to keep up. The boy ahead of you laughed as he realised your struggle to keep up, “Come on sunshine!” You growled at him, “Why do you always call me that?” “Because you always make me happy and smiley and you make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, so sunshine.” You were taken aback, “Oh…” Marcus shuffled awkwardly before darting forward to press a kiss to your cheek, the two of you both turning pink. “M-Marcus?” You asked nervously, “M-mhmm?” “I like you…” “I l-like you too Y/N, y-you’re…” Marcus paused for a second as if he was thinking about his next words carefully “you’re my best friend.” Even at the tender age of 9 you felt your little heart shatter as your best friend turned crush rejected you, “Y-yeah, you’re mine too.”

The music was loud enough to the point that you could feel the bass pounding through your body as you watched Marcus from the other side of the dance floor. You loved this look on him. Care-free. Happy. You giggled to yourself as a very drunk James draped himself across Marcus’ shoulders, trying to press smooches to his cheeks as Marcus battled to keep his face out of reach. Was it odd to say that even watching James drunkenly kiss Marcus’ cheeks had you feeling that same wanting pull in your stomach? You shook your head to clear the thoughts away, downing the rest of the drink in your hand before crossing the dance floor to the boys. You pushed your way through the throng of bodies, wincing and occasionally grimacing as someone’s elbow dug into your side or hand wandered too close to your body. Eventually you pushed through the crowd, foot catching on the edge of the dance floor, you felt your body start to fall forwards. “Woah!” Before you could fall any further, you felt two strong arms around your waist, head jolting up to look at your saviour, your breath caught in your throat as your eyes met Marcus’. You let out a nervous breath as he helped you straighten up, “You okay?” You nodded, dumbstruck, as you realised one of his hands had remained on your waist, his thumb gently rubbing soothingly. You held in a shiver as his touch ignited something deep in your stomach that went beyond lust or sexual attraction, something deeper. His touch burned into your skin, so familiar and comforting yet exciting and new at the same time. You pulled away with an awkward laugh, “I’m okay, are you? I saw James’ attack a minute ago.” Marcus tipped his head back and laughed before replying. You cocked your head to one side in confusion, his words lost amongst the yelling and laughing and pounding music, “Huh?” Your breath caught in your throat as he leaned in, his breath warm against your neck and sending a shiver down your spine. He was so close that his lips gently brushed against your ear, “I said, you jealous?” A flash of panic jolted your stomach, what? Marcus chuckled and poked your cheek as he straightened up, making you glare “I’m kidding sunshine.” 

You stared up at him feeling like time had stopped as you caught his gaze. Suddenly the club felt too crowded, too busy, too intense. “You wanna get out of here?” The words were out of your mouth before you could stop them, “Marcus I-“ “Yeah sure-“ You said at the same time. You grabbed his hand and turned towards the exit before he could see how flustered you were by his reply. Pushing towards the exit you bumped into Clem who raised an eyebrow and you knew you’d be hearing about this in the morning. 

You tumbled out of the club, wrapped up in Marcus, the refreshing night air of the summer sweeping over you as you felt yourself laughing at nothing. Marcus chuckled and you sucked in a breath as you felt his chest rumble against your back. He helped you walk a little way down the road before you turned to face him suddenly, “I’m hungry! Let’s get food!” The two of you froze as you looked into each others eyes, was it just you or was he leaning in a little- did his eyes just flicker down to look at your lips? Marcus blinked slowly before straightening up suddenly and coughing, 

“Yeah that sounds good…” You bit back your disappointed frown and shook it off, grabbing his hand and taking off down the street again, “Great! Let’s go!”

Your eyes, lit up with excitement as you’d grabbed his hand and started running down the street, your smile as you’d stared up at him. And was he crazy if he could have sworn you’d leaned in at one point, almost like you wanted to kiss him- no. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. “What did happen then?” Felipe asked, taking a sip of water, and wiggling his eyebrows Marcus shoved his shoulder gently, letting out a breath of laughter at how ridiculous his friends were being. “Nothing happened!” Clem snorted, “Nothing?” “Nothing.” Marcus confirmed. “We went to get food, went back to the hotel and she made me binge-watch Criminal Minds with her.” James fell back against the sun lounger in disbelief, Juan shaking his head, “Dude, when are you gonna man up?” “What do you mean?” “What he means mate,” Clem swung an arm around Marcus’ shoulder “is when are you finally gonna grow the balls to tell her you like her?” Marcus sighed heavily, before staring after you giggling with Ines as you scrolled through the pictures you’d taken that morning for instagram, he smiled softly at how pretty you looked this morning. Another city on your summer tour holiday, another night out in some club that Clem demanded you all went to. You fanned your face slightly as you grabbed Ines’ arm, “I’m heading to the bar! Want anything?” She shook her head and smiled at you to continue before you turned and pushed your way off the crowded dance floor. Reaching the bar you realised that there were people in front of you so you pulled your phone out to check if Marcus wanted anything to drink. 

Feeling his phone buzz in his pocket, Marcus’ head shot up when he realised you’d texted him. Looking out from the booth that your group had reserved he could see over the dance floor, across to the other side to where you stood by the bar. He smiled at the sight of you but that smile was quickly replaced by a frown when a man approached you from behind, tapping you on the shoulder and quickly invading your personal space. He monitored the situation closely, his frown growing as yours did. Who was this guy? And why was he being so pushy? Marcus felt himself growing angry as he stood up and made his way through the club, “Baby!” You heard Marcus before you saw him, he slid an arm around your waist and you felt yourself instantly relaxing. You gasped slightly when he pressed a kiss to your temple, “You were taking a while, I got worried… oh! Who’s this darling?” Marcus glared at the guy standing opposite you, “Relax bro, I didn’t know she was your girl.” “Yeah that’s right…” Marcus’ grip on your waist tightened and you felt him pulling you closer to him, “she’s my girl.” Heat erupted across your skin and your stomach flipped as the words left his mouth. ‘Oh god, calm down Y/N’ you willed yourself as the other guy held up his hands in surrender, slowly slipping back into the crowd. “Are you okay?” Marcus hands were on your shoulders as he turned you to face him, eyes frantically searching you for any sign of distress, “I’m sorry I suddenly grabbed you and called you those things, I-I just wanted to help…” “Hey…” You said softly, “I’m okay…” Marcus gave a sigh of relief, hands dropping to meet yours as he interlocked your fingers together. You held your breath, screaming internally as his thumbs gently rubbed across the back of hour hand. “I just… I got so worried, so mad-“ “Why?” “Why what?” “Why did you get mad?” Marcus stopped, breathing heavily, why had he gotten so mad? He knew the answer… did he really want to tell you? “I-I was jealous.” Your mouth dropped open, “Jealous? Why? Marcus he was no one-“ “Because I realised that you’re not actually mine and someone might take you away and take away any chance I have of making you mine.” He cursed Clem for making him shot that tequila earlier, this was not how he wanted you to find out about his feelings for you. He stopped as he looked back at your face, seeing you tear up. “Shit…” He cursed under his breath, he dropped your hands, “Y/N, I’m so sorry…” you reached out for him, “N-no no it’s okay…” You looked around for a second, spotting an exit door to a staircase to an outdoor area in the corner, “Come with me,” grabbing his hand, you made your way to the door.

Marcus froze, eyes widened slightly. “Y-you what?” “I know you feel the same way.” Your hands came up to fist themselves in his shirt as you pulled him as close as you could, leaning up to softly press a kiss to his lips before pulling back with a squeak as you realised what you’d just done. Marcus smiled and dropped your hand, instead wrapping his arm round your waist, pulling you in to kiss you once again. You melted into his embrace, hardly able to believe that after years of pining, he was finally kissing you. Marcus was kissing you. Merlin liveblog (partly for @thisisjustmefangirling )

Season 1 Episode 1:

I’m halfway through the first episode, and so far HOW IS MERLIN SO LUCKY ALL THE TIME. (Also, why has everyone been in Doctor Who?!)

I’m coming into this with some background - I think I watched the first 5 episodes a few years ago? But I don’t really remember them well. Apart from being shot in the heart by Katie McGrath’s beautiful outfits. And also, being on tumblr, I have some mutuals who are fans of it, or I’ve seen gifsets when scrolling through some blogs. And I also do know basic Arthuriana, so I can guess in what position some characters are meant to end up. I’ve got a little background knowledge but not that much. Onto the liveblog!

Merlin you’re behaving like a dramatic teen. Which I guess you are, I don’t really know how old you are.

“Look, I’ve told you you’re an ass, I just didn’t realise you were a royal one.” BEST BOY MERLIN but also he can definitely hurt you and holds power maybe don’t challenge your social superiors too much Merlin mmk?

Merlin. Don’t challenge him. You won’t win.

Yeah tbh if I were Arthur I’d probably laugh too.

Merlin he’s been training his whole life and has power and has weapons and has armour WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN WIN YOU AREN’T ALLOWED MAGIC

“Wow. And how long have you been training to be a prat?” See Merlin gets the best lines but that’s dangerous for him.

Slight discrepancy: how does Arthur know Merlin’s name?

Yeah if I were Gaius I’d have that reaction too. Merlin has NO self-preservation instinct.

I like the music. (Also apparently this was filmed at Pierrefonds, so that’s cool!)

YEAH “OH GOD” WHAT DID YOU THINK MERLIN??? That you’d win??!

(Let’s just pause for a moment and appreciate all those historical inaccuracies. They’re painful but also there are so many it almost warms my heart. They’ve COMMITTED to being historically inaccurate. Though I suppose this is fantasy anyway.)

I like both leads’ actors.

And of course he sees Gaius and loses.

“He may be an idiot, but he’s a brave one.” Merlin summarised in one sentence. This boy is DUMB.

“There’s something about you, Merlin. I can’t quite put my finger on it.” See I’m starting to get why this was explained to me as Destiel before Destiel.

“How could you be so foolish?” We are all, at heart, Gaius.

See Merlin’s problem is he wants to be special. Not to be that person but you’re a servant in the (fantasy) Middle Ages you were always going to be a nobody. Being special is very 2000s not so much 1300s.

Aaaand he’s a dramatic emo boy.

Gaius we love you. You’re so kind and honestly the most relatable character. Gaius is great I love him.

OUCH that looks like it hurts.

Oh fantasy medieval painkillers! That’s cool.

It’s not that I don’t like Eve Myles but I specifically chose Merlin to avoid seeing her and John Barrowman all the time. So. I’ve been seeing her pretty much nonstop for a few weeks. I was sort of hoping to catch a break.

Uther is realistic. (As much as a fantasy character from the fictional Middle Ages playing a mythological king from a fictional kingdom can be realistic, but he is!) Both as a father and as a king. I don’t necessarily agree with him, but he’s definitely the most fleshed out character so far.

That voice is creepy and after watching Torchwood CoE it reminds me of the 456.

Merlin come on. Really?

The camera work on this series is………interesting.

So he has a destiny. Great. We already knew that. But I guess this is establishing characters.

“If anyone wants to kill him, they can go ahead, in fact I’ll lend them a hand.” At least Merlin is coherent, and funny. If extremely dumb and foolish.

“No. No. There must be another Arthur, because this one’s an idiot.” BAHAHA OKAY THAT’S FUNNY

Oh we get the theme music again when Merlin is asking all his questions.

Yeah again Gaius I get you. Also that’s the bedroom of a teenage boy what did you expect, did you want it to be clean? Gaius you’re aiming too high. I have a 15-year-old brother the most I can wish for is for him to open the window once in a while.

One thing I do like is how well-lit the castle is. It’s nice for once.

Oh please tell me he isn’t getting a crush on Morgana. Noooooo please why does every character always have a crush in these shows can my aroace heart be soothed for a while instead of crushed at every occasion

Merlin is a teenage boy with hormones okay. Check.

Okay Merlin just squeaking to imitate Gwen is funny.

Gwen where are you though?

And she arrives! Gwen and Gaius are easily the most relatable people.

Oh so Merlin and Arthur have spotted each other- nope that’s just Katie McGrath in an incredible dress that won’t be invented for centuries but since when is accuracy the point of this show. The inaccuracies make it better

Isn’t she your cousin or something Arthur?

Gwen is so sweet! But also. The foreshadowing is starting. “Not that I’d want to marry Arthur.” WELL YOUR NAME IS GUINEVERE. SO I GUESS YOU’RE HEADING THERE ANYWAY GWEN I really hope he improves.

“No, I like much more ordinary men like you.” Gwen is realistic! She doesn’t have ideas above her social station! Finally a character who has some knowledge of where they stand! But also no Gwen please don’t fall in love with Merlin that’s just a bad idea

Gwen deserves better than this world. She’s so sweet and nice and frankly dealing with stuff she isn’t paid for enough. #GiveGwenARaise

Oh phew thank god it’s established she doesn’t like him I don’t think I could have borne it.

Merlin is very much a self-centred emo teenager while Gwen is reasonable and sweet and dealing with so much bullshit I promise Gwen you deserve so much better than dealing with him.

Guys believing the female characters for once would have made a nice change. I guess not, huh?

I love Uther’s voice.

I almost expected her to start singing Memory from Cats but no it makes sense that she’s singing something else actually

I’m 95% sure Eve Myles is dubbed here but also medieval music had lyrics.

The darkening as the spell takes effect is well-done and a touch I wouldn’t have imagined. But also what in the Sleeping Beauty

So he saved Arthur’s life huh. Quite a different reaction to twenty minutes ago. Is this character growth? Or is it him realising how bad it would be if A died? (Or am I just having fun interpreting his joke too literally)

The Umbrella Academy season 3 review post

I finally finished season 3 of tua even tho I've watched first two seasons first day they came out and oh boy do I have things to talk about-

To begin with, the things I like about new season:

- The way we finally dug into Allison's trauma and how she starts going psychotic is actually a good plot line especially the accent on how she just like any other Umbrella Academy people indulges in self-distructive behavior, she's really just like them

- Diego getting a kid as someone with the biggest daddy issues out there is a realistic plotline because having a kid (even if Stanley's not actually his) heals him in this regard tho he and Lila would get a kid anyway eventually but they really should've been more sad about Stanley thanosing out of the existence you know

- Five being the founder of The Temps Commission makes so much sense as he's the one with the power to travel time of course he's more powerful than it seemed

- Good music scenes. Music is what season 1 was incredible for and what I love about the show. In season 2 there weren't many scenes that caught my attention but in s3 it's definetely better. We got Klaus's death montage with "Crystallised" by The xx and celebration scene with "Another one bites the dust" by Queen + Luther on moon and "Friday I'm in Love" by The Cure these were really nice.

- The Oblivion Hotel is such a cool location and concept (a place for everyone) I like the change of place of action a lot, but the way it's a portal is kinda overused imo

- Lila and Five are still the best characters and carried the season

- Fei is such a cool chara with a distict character design (which most of Sparrow Academy lack tbh)

Now things I don't like:

- Ben being just a placeholder character is such a bummer because instead of getting angst and drama we got a mostly one-dimentional anti-hero who has a completely different personality from Ben. We got a tiny bit of his character when he admitted he just wants to be involved with everyone but it's really minimal.

I can't believe Klaus says "He's an asshole and he's dead to me" like WHAT DO YOU MEAN fuck no Klaus would not say that shit and he would not just give up on him. Yeah Luther says stuff like "I'm glad to see you even if you're different" or whatever but it's Klaus who've spent the most time with Ben.

The way literally any other actor could have played Sparrow Ben and nothing would change is lame af I hope in next season we will see more changes

- Same goes to my dear Grace who's just a placeholder for black hole worshipper like what do you mean we just got one phrase from Diego and that's it??? This whole bit with fake god and stuff really threw me off it didn't go anywhere

- The Sparrow Academy being one-dimentional characters in general like I get producers probably didn't have enough episodes to actually develop characters but holy shit are they boring.

Even if you want to make them just antagonists we had such cool villains in two previous seasons they were original and interesting (aka The powerless podcast-fan male manipulator Peabody and The Cunty Handler)

Also the way the fisrt Sparrows who died were the most annoying and cliche assholes makes them just filler charas

- How show tried to make us feel compassion to Reginald Hargreeves holy shit do I hate this guy- After Klaus realised his father was basically killing him over and over in his childhood instead of Klaus getting mad or upset and having a breakdown we got nothing.

He even came back to new timeline Reginald who's "nicer" for this asshole just to hurt him AGAIN

- Klaus mostly being a comic relief in this season is so fucked I love this character and in previous seasons we had a great look at his life and experiences but now he's just kinda there being high and that's it

"mm I guess he died a few times it's probably enough" - plot writers

no character development whatsoever is just upsetting.

And the amount of unnecessary traumatising aka Reginald training him was really not it, even if it's supposed to be a joke.

- Reginald being a two-faced ass like holy shit is this terrifying. Pogo was the one who gave Sparrows pills and now Klaus helped him to stop taking them and this asshole is taking advantage of naive and vulnerable Klaus.

It is in fact a good plot twist but bro I really did prefer Reginald being a cartoonish villian instead of actual pure evil like how does he have shitty motivation but still does just so much shit.

- The Umbrella Academy family having no improvement in their relationship. They still don't care Klaus relapsed, they still don't care about Viktor. All they care about is their own misery which is really in character but with three seasons out of the way and only one more left I would expect at least something you know.

- Viktor is still left out. Like bro the only compassion he had is only when he transitioned but this is it?? Bro's still waiting till someone comes and cares about him but not only this doesn't happen, he even gets rediculed by Sparrow Ben for that and called emo are you actually kidding me what's with all the hurt with no comfort???

It feels a lot like when you're mentally ill and your family kinda "walks on eggshells" to not trigger you but it's in quotes because they don't actually care. They act nice just because they think you're psycho and you would make less problems if they pretend. And this is very sad, Viktor is such a tragic character.

tbh I don't expect her to win, not really, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's not even included in the poll. But she's got a special place in my heart and I felt she deserved a nomination. The plates come in a set of 12, each depicting another part of the fairy tale, with gorgeous art and a real crystal serving as an element of each piece. When I was born, my parents saw one plate in the hospital gift shop depicting Cinderella running away from the palace, with her glass slipper lying discarded on the steps - made of the real crystal. My family has always been poor, but they bought me that plate and I grew up looking at her, and when I got married, I picked a dress and hairstyle that reminded me of her. Cinderella has always been one of my favorite fairy tales and although there are a lot of reasons I relate to it, it's undeniable that the plate played a big part in my appreciation for the tale. There are a few other entrants that even I might vote for over Collector's Plate Cinderella, but as I said, I feel she at least deserved a nomination. She's beautiful.
