I never really got the whole complaining about something being made that's already been done a bunch of times. Like, tropes and themes and aesthetics and all that. Because as long as it's being done respectfully and whatnot, what's the problem? Like, yeah, you're under no obligation to like, like, a 1980s-set slasher film or whatever, but I don't get all the mocking and stuff.

monaco grand prix 2013, on board rosberg, pole lap

a lot of people have never seen nico drive, so I wanted to post his 2013 monaco onboard, a punchy, brutal lap that really highlights nico's strengths and what a truly underrated driver he is. monaco is one of his best tracks, which he's won 3 times in a row -- a feat no driver in the modern era has replicated.

it's 2013, so merc domination era hasn't quite begun yet and seb will be wdc, but this is nico's third consecutive pole. nico's also topped all the practice sessions. quali starts in the wet.

you can see how responsive the car is -- nico throws it into the corner and it turns, there's a commenter who says "the car only understood the language of violence." turn 1 corner, nico goes BAM on the brakes and takes the curb, where he gained a tenth on hamilton's lap.

nico's also generally considered a very careful/risk averse driver but in monaco you can really how fearless he is, absolutely kissing the walls just milimeters away in full send. it takes complete confidence, which rosberg was clearly feeling that weekend. 0:38 marks the underhand turn.

0:40-43 he gets his hand up on the wheel to push it round and then instantly changes it up.

you can see how many times he shifts and adjusts the brake bias in between turns when it matters, something schumacher also used to do. after the tunnel on the final straight, nico keeps pressing on the KERS even though it was already at 0, he was doing it unconsciously just being attuned to what he needs to.

even if you understand nothing about wheel, just watch the lap and listen to that v8 downshift. you'll feel it.

unfortunately, I cannot get behind the psycho Bartylus train. At least, most of the time. But! I see them very much as high school romance/sweethearts. Just the classic runaway love story. To me, they are the few sweeter ships.

However, I always saw Bartylus as the long-term, high school forbidden romance that ends with them running away and living out their happy life far away from shitty parents. They are each other's fairytale prince and princess!

They are the more realistic. Like any long-term relationship in high school, you can easily point out in the halls or in your friend group. There aren't any complex feelings of loyalty and devotion that borders on unhealthy (maybe a bit but never too much). If anything, their relationship is the most normal thing about them.

People tend to forget that Regulus is this wealthy, posh, basically royalty heir with the most insane imagination when he's studying in the library with Barty who is commonly viewed as the next leader of the Wizarding world, one of the smartest students of his age, and also a huge fucking pretentious dick that scares the first years. Their characters are strange to other people but it's quickly forgotten when they see Barty and Regulus at Madam Puddifoots' sitting across from each other, kissing and holding hands, and drinking tea from each other's cups.

I think it's also what makes them more tragic in a canon-compliant universe. They were just teenagers in love.

I also don't see them being this interested in these [insert disturbing thing] as a metaphor for their love because they are each other's comfort space, where there isn't anything complex, just simple, soft love like the ones you see in movies or read in books.

Bartylus takes the most vulnerable parts of Barty and Regulus and runs with it honestly.

You can look up very old threads on the ASOIAF forum or reddit where people talk about how bad the Jaehaera’s ending is and how it’s one of the weaker, if not the weakest parts, of the dance (or post dance? Idk how to classify it) and F&B in general (not the weakest in that case)

Daenaera just pops up as the realm’s hottest 6 year old and you’re just like yup hahaha there goes GRRM again with his quirky writing.

I promise you just look up pre-HOTD threads about Jaehaera it has nothing to do with Daenaera being black in the HOTD!verse.

The way people defend it has me going crazy because with the arguments they’re putting forth it’s clear none of them …ever tried giving GRRM’s writing a go, it’s just so sensitive “why would your ant Aegon III to be sad and be….” huh??

It’s so obvious that the twitter fight is just a dumb extension for the TB/TG shit fight when in the past it was more of “why did GRRM forsake a perfect ending for the dance to encapsulate how useless this civil war is”
