I am of the DPxDC belief/headcanon that any variation of Danny who grew up poor in Gotham during his formative years before moving to Amity Park would not be friends with Sam without friction at first. It makes things more interesting and imo allows for more exploration of different themes plus character growth for Sam that she doesn't really go through in canon.
(this doesn't only apply to a DPDC au where Danny grew up in Gotham poor, but it was the first thing that I thought of where this might happen considering my Childhood Friends au.)
Now Sam's a compassionate girl, it's one of her defining character traits, but so is her hypocrisy and judgy-ness. She's the Not Like Other Girls' girl. This is in part of the show's narrative framing that makes her out like this, unfortunately though its still showing how she is as a character since its consistent enough to be part of her character description. There are also times where the show's depiction of her activism makes it look like she's performative about it. All of this makes her dynamic with a Danny who grew up poor in Gotham very interesting.
Anyways, Sam is aware of her privilege to an extent, but still has her blindspots - glaring ones, in some cases. Her self-righteous attitude would not go over well with a crime alley kid Danny. He'd like her, at first, but then she'd do something to make him mad - personally I think her judging people for not being vegan would annoy him the most, or at least would be the breaking point for him, because it was only recently that his family started actually being able to consistently put food on the table at all, good food nonetheless. And being vegan is expensive.
Any other behavior he noticed from her he'd slowly stop tolerating - her judging conventionally attractive girls and automatically assuming they're vapid and shallow for being feminine. Her anti-capitalist beliefs start coming off as superficial at worst, and Danny would eventually figure out that Sam either came from a family that was well off, or that she wasn't aware if her family was experiencing financial struggle.
He would still be friends with Tucker, but since Tucker imo is still friends with Sam, they'd still run into each other often enough to butt heads. Sam's got a nasty habit of refusing to take responsibility when she's wrong, but when Danny is arguing with her, and counterpointing her with stuff she can't retort back at without compromising her own beliefs, then forces her to start reflecting on herself. Especially when Tucker eventually starts siding with Danny and agreeing with him.
Does sam genuinely care about her beliefs and philosophies? Survey says yes. However that doesn't mean she's not ignorant, and she definitely is at times throughout the show (like when she released the purpleback gorilla thinking it 'wanted out of its enclosure' despite the fact that it was endangered and in an urban area) and I think it'd be a real fascinating dynamic between Danny and Sam to explore.
This isn't Sam hate btw, nor am I trying to make her out like "the worst person ever" bc she's not, i wanna make that explicitly clear. Sam Manson has a lot of positive traits about her but she also has an equal amount of negative traits that I think should be explored, she is not immune to the character development.

do u ever get sick of everyone obsessing over ahb? like do u ever wish more ppl would read ur other works and not fixate on just one? or do u not gaf 😭
i’ve seen authors get upset when one book blows up and the rest remain untouched (understandably), but some other authors literally do not care & i was wondering which you were
i do not ever get sick of it !! the idea that anyone anywhere wants to read anything i’ve written is sooooo wild and touching to me,,, like anytime someone tells me they liked reading art heist my heart explodes w love
i get excited when people read my other stories, but no more or less than when people read ahb! (i mean i like winterlude and tcb! best but that’s my personal preference,,,, i think it would be little strange and weird to get mad at people for not reading my other works ??? like idk,,, it does not bother me at all tbh)

Good afternoon bestie!
Imagine being the anemo trio and when you three are exploring you all come across new information together. Some of its good, some of its bad. But hey! Its neat....
Then you learn about how the human body needs sunlight to survive. How it needs stuff like salt. Fresh fruits. Ventus is like "oh so thats why ___ died. I recognize those symptoms.." while Decarabian is horrified. He knew his species and humans were different.. but by the stars!
And Ventus is right next to him, confirming those fears.
His people were suffering. Suffocating. Smotherd by his storms.
Wouldn't that be fucked up lol :)
God that WOULD be fucked up :)

Characters with god complexes are so. fukcin wild. But there are ‘good’ ones and ‘bad’ ones, and not as in ‘good vs evil’ but in like how well they’re written.
An example of a badly written god complex is someone who doesn’t actually think they’re a god. It sounds obvious but I’ve seen a lot of people think that someone who pretends they’re a god, but doesn’t actually think they are one, has a god complex. They don’t. Same with characters that literally are gods but just don’t know it, or pretend to be normal humans. Or even people who just suck at everything so bad that it wouldn’t make any sense for them to be a god (such as myself).
An example of a well-written character with a god complex, however, is someone who has some amount of power over other people, like maybe they’re super rich, or a government leader, or they have a murder notebook, but instead of connecting that power with luck or skill or something reasonable, they think, ‘I’m so powerful and perfect and good at everything and everyone loves me; I must be god’ and they just stick with that.
They could be aware of their own mortality or not, it only depends on how it’s written if it’s good or not. Like, if they think they’re immortal, have them walk into a dangerous situation trying to prove that to themself and come out unscathed (house fire, busy intersection, a straight-up war zone, you decide). That could be the final thing making them sure that they’re a god. Or conversely, you could have them be aware of their mortality. They could either believe that humans become gods after attaining so much power but can still be killed, that gods are only a little harder to kill, or that they’re the reincarnation of a god, and when they inevitably die, they’ll return to their omnipotence in godhood. Or they could just not even consider death as an option for them until it’s too late.
But the most important thing is to make sure they’re still completely human, and that everything they do is well within reason. If you don’t, it stops being a god complex and starts becoming a straight-up god. If that’s what you’re looking for, that’s fine, but it’s very important to keep in mind how human your character is at any point in time.
If they’re too human, then some readers will get bored fast, or grow annoyed that their fiction is so similar to reality, or even feel that this character that is supposed to be relatable or normal is a far cry from normalcy.
If they’re noticeably less human, there’ll be a sort of discomfort that is intriguing to the reader, a feeling of off-ness that could make the reader as uncomfortable as they could be giddy. They are still mostly human, however, so don’t focus on the inhuman moments too much.
If they’re more other than human, then make sure to mold what the other part is in clear terms to help yourself out in the long-run. Focus on that the most, and add sprinkles of vulnerable, human moments, where they express their emotions in subtle shifts of expression or body language.
And if they’re completely inhuman, you might wish to google study human body language in order to manipulate their body language to either hide or express their thoughts or emotions in a quietly subtle manner, or to double-check through your work and remove any kind of human body language in order to create an authentically inhuman feel.
This started as me talking about liking characters with god complexes let’s go back to that
You should be able to tell why they have a god complex within a few chapters. There could be like a hidden aspect of it, but for the most part, the most commonly well-written god complex characters are people with a ‘successful’ life.
A beautiful schoolgirl with fans city-wide, who gets everything she wants, and everyone she wants, when she wants them
A boy skilled in acting, who regularly makes ‘disguises’ and enters friend groups, businesses, and lives, acting as a new character he made, causing a ruckus before leaving and moving onto his next ‘subjects’
A scientist who made a serum that boosts his brain, muscles, and senses, truely believing that he was reincarnated as a human to either raise or topple humanity
A wealthy CEO of a large company who thinks ‘rich’ and ‘god’ are synonyms
A high school/college boy who is given the power to kill anyone with the flick of a pen
Okay yeah that last one’s just Light Yagami from Death Note but Death Note was good.
I don’t really know what this is anymore, but happy writing :)

REPORT START.
DATE: January 21, 2282
COURSER UNIT: Q3-31
Dr. [INSERT ACTING HEAD OF SRB HERE.],
Exploring the ruins of Las Vegas (currently called “New Vegas”) and the surrounding Mojave Desert, I was able to find evidence of the missing synth, V4-16. Included in this report is a medical file made on his behalf by the “Followers of the Apocalypse.” The doctor under his supervision, a man named Arcade Gannon, appears to have taken on a paternal role towards V4-16, and assumes he originated from a Vault due to his lack of scarring. V4-16 seems to have no recollection of his time in the Institute, and has amassed an impressive amount of power in the short time he has been away. For some reason, recalling does not seem to work - the recall component in his brain was either damaged, or removed. I was under immediate suspicion by Dr. Gannon during my attempt to reclaim him, and upon the reclamation not working, I was simply stared at, and asked, “What is wrong with you?” I retreated immediately and requested to be recalled back.
REPORT END.
Additional Notes: We’ll keep an eye on V4-16 for now. Having an influence as far as the Mojave, while we may be unable to directly control it, is still beneficial. Under no circumstances should Bela be made aware of V4-16’s survival - simply maintain the truth that it’s chip has been offline since October.

Made a similar thing to this a while ago here, and wanted to make another version, with some additional context ;-)
