hi, everyone!

i thought i'd take a quick second to introduce myself and to also formally open up requests. i'm already working on a few things, but requests really do always help and feel free to submit them at any point--but, we'll get to all of that in a moment!

my name is lavinia, and i am a uni student studying both theatre (dramaturgy specifically) and creative writing! i love to sing, act, write (obviously haha), read (i am a huge fan of classic literature, as well as donna tartt, mona awad, sally rooney, elif bautman, and ottessa moshfegh's works), go to concerts, go to the movies, style/design clothing, paint, collect records/cds, and so much more! this barely scratches the surface really but, if any of you share these interests, always feel free to reach out!

Summary:

Being a Weapon isn’t all it’s cut out to be. On top of all the normal teenage drama, there’s learning to control your powers. Then there’s the anti-Weapon stigma to deal with...

Poe and Boomer are two such siblings, but no one knows they are both Weapons. They can’t let anyone know, otherwise they might get split up and given real Meisters. But secrets tend to have a way of coming out, especially when you’re in class with the best Meister the academy’s seen yet.

Despite the increasing tensions with her brother—stemming from a crush he doesn’t approve of—Poe manages to graduate. Years later, after the kishin’s defeat, Poe gets the chance to return to Death City, getting to see old friends and enemies. And what ever happened with that crush?

Well, I suppose there’s a reason they’re called crushes…

I shoved my hands in the pockets of my lab coat as I waited for my order, looking up as the shop bell rang, signalling someone entering the shop. A glimpse of purple hair catching my attention. It could have been Blair, if it weren’t for the far darker shade or the fact that the feline far preferred alcohol to coffee.

I couldn’t be sure, as her hair covered her face as she was looking the other direction, but I had a sneaking suspicion I knew exactly who it was. It had been nearly a decade, and it could be someone with the same hair color.

Even so…

I continued to stare her way, waiting for her to eventually turn my way. I reached up to twist my screw; if it was her, why hadn’t I heard she was coming back? Did Spirit know? Was she here to teach, or perhaps to assist with our constant short staff that had resulted from everything the Kishin’s madness had stirred up?

How would she react to me?

“Stein!”

I took my coffee, not bothering to glance in the man’s direction, far more interested in the woman’s reaction. And she did react. At the sound of my name she tensed, before curiosity evidently got the best of her and she looked my way. Her eyes darted from the barista to me, up to the screw in my head, prompting her eyebrows to come together in thought. Finally, they settled on making eye contact, which she entertained for a moment before spinning back to the cashier.

It is her, interesting. I grinned, sipping at my coffee, deciding to wait as she would need to come over here if she wanted her beverage. When she turned to me again, I watched as what I assumed was a debate on if the coffee was worth it or not passed over her features. Deciding it was in fact worth the risk, she made her way over. Avoiding eye contact and doing a generally poor job of pretending she hadn’t seen me.

So avoidance is her plan then.

Shoving a hand in my coat pocket, I approached her; she was far shorter than I recalled. Though, a growth spurt and a decade later I shouldn’t expect things to go unchanged. She tensed again, keeping her arms close to her chest; it didn’t seem to provide her the comfort she had hoped, though. Choosing instead to lean on the counter.

Let’s test the waters.

“You seem familiar, don’t you work here?”

“No.” she said, drumming her fingers against the countertop impatiently.

“Are you sure? I seem to recall a purple-haired girl in a cute uniform.”

I grinned, taking another sip of the bitter coffee that was warming my hand. I swear I heard her mutter ‘cute?’ under her breath before she eventually turned to look up at me.

“And I seem to recall punching you in the face the last time you commented on my uniform.”

Amusement spread across my face; she had a hell of a right hook. I wondered how much force she could condense into one punch these days. Not that she’d catch me off guard this time.

“So you do work here.”

That seemed to strike a nerve. She crossed her arms and straightened, though it did nothing to make herself taller in comparison. What an angry little mousey.

“I’m sorry, did you just forget, you sliced me open?” she said, her voice raising at the last part. I felt eyes on us from around the cafe.

“Oh, right~” I feigned recognition, “I see you’re still in one piece.”

“No thanks to you.” she muttered, “Still a sadist I see.”

“Scientist.” I corrected, causing her to grumble more. At least her anger wasn’t explosive; speaking of explosive anger. “So where’s your keeper?”

“Poe?” the barista asked, handing over the coffee when she nodded.

“Keeper...?” She asked, glancing sideways at me.

“You know, the rowdy one who hates my guts.”

“Boomer? Still hating your guts, back in England.” she said, exiting the cafe.

Well, that made things simpler, Poe was emotional, but she didn’t pick needless fights, like her brother did. Who knew how much she had changed since the last time I saw her. His deplorable attitude could have rubbed off on her. I supposed I would find out eventually, especially if she was back to stay.

I followed Poe out of the cafe who, upon seeing Spirit, rushed over to him.

“Oh, thank death! Spirit, save me from this idiot.” she said, gesturing back towards me.

Spirit tensed slightly, giving me a questioning look. “What did you do now?”

“Nothing, senpai.” I replied, sipping on my coffee.

He raised an eyebrow, but turned to Poe for answers. “You. Didn’t. Tell. Me. He was here.” she hissed.

I continued to watch on in amusement as Spirit floundered about.

“Sorry I forgot.” he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

“You forgot! How do you forget something like that?”

“Well, he’s been a professor at the school for a while.”

“A professor?” she said, sounding appalled.

I took a drink, savoring the bitter bite of it as I did. Things were getting interesting.
