Giovanni D’Amico • he/him • February 11, 1929 • 1,642 years old (71 human years)

Originally born around 380 AD when Christianity was made the empire’s official religion by Emperor Theodosius. Would later, in 754 AD by the Donation of Pepin, be known as the Papal States until year 1870. Finally, in 1929, he would be known as Vatican City.

Vatican City is a multifaceted elderly man. A loving and strict father, one who prefers tough love over a soft and gentle touch— he’s honest about the world and it’s struggles, even to children, and doesn’t sugar coat it when someone needs to be straightened out/intervened. He’s a devoted catholic who was ordained in 1961; if you ask him why he didn’t become a priest earlier, he’ll avoid answering, starting a brand new conversation all together or just walking away without a word. He has his reasons. Don’t underestimate him, however, because of his charming smile and kind air, he can be pretty cunning and even manipulative when he wants to be. His father was the Roman Empire after all.

Vatican City gets along with most people he meets and is pretty optimistic most of the time, much like Veneziano is. But he can lose his temper, or be in frequent bad moods, over small inconveniences in similar ways to Romano. Unlike the boys, he has a very close personal relationship with Switzerland— meaning he can walk onto his property uninvited without being shot at or chased out. This is due to their history since 1506, when Pope Julius II asked the Swiss to provide protection during the Italian Wars.

His relationship with the boys are actually newly built. Before now, his longest and closest interaction with the boys was when they were children. So having more time with them now is a little out of place to Vatican City when last he saw them was when they were teenagers and now they’re fully grown adults. It is still a little difficult to remember that oh yeah Veneziano is no longer a toddler, I shouldn’t be babying him like this. Romano isn’t some kid anymore either, he’s old enough to make his own decisions now. They’re still his kids though so of course he’ll baby them sometimes. His relationship with Seborga is the same as the Italies’— although the boys have noticed he treats Seborga with a softer hand than he did when they were kids. Like Rome often did, he shows favoritism. And Seborga is “allegedly” his favorite.

He walks with a limp, which many are unsure how it was obtained, some assuming it’s France’s fault when he lived in Avignon and jokingly shun him for kicking such a “harmless kind soul”. The real reason he limps is because of a humiliating trip he took down a flight of stairs in 1312, a story he plans to take to the grave. Vatican City uses a sleek wooden cane, however it’s more for the aesthetics than for practical use.

Vatican City claims to be extremely humble and honest, but he does pride himself on his continuous unwavering faith. He doesn’t brag about it though. …..Not often. He’s always looking out to help those around him, however he isn’t actually that good of a listener so sometimes he can totally misread the situation and apply the wrong fix/advice. He’s got a bigger mouth than he does ears.

I made him old as a contrast to the Italies— wanted him to stand out and seem wiser than them without actually being wiser because let’s face it. None of these fuckers are very smart. I can’t decide specifically when he ages so rapidly like this, but I am leaning towards the mid 1700s. He does appear much older than Rome, who, when he fell, was roughly 55-65 human years in appearance(in my headcanon). Also, if I remember correctly, Hima did describe how he thinks Vatican City would look— old and grouchy— which I didn’t remember until like. After I finalized this design 2 years ago 💀 which is awesome! We need more grouchy old men nations! Wrinkles are hot too! /j? even with the grouchiness, I really wanted him to be more like Veneziano, so I kind of split it in half, VC sharing traits with both the Italies.

Final side note that I couldn’t make fit above— yeeeeeah he’s kind of homophobic but at least he’s the type to not voice his disapproval so loudly or tries to force his opinions on others. He kind of just awkwardly and uncomfortably leaves the situation or starts a new conversation if you bring up being queer. Its the topic he’ll avoid, not the person. He’s not transphobic tho, even if he does misuse pronouns sometimes. Well he doesn’t understand nonbinary or genderfluid identities. He’s….. he’s trying at least. I think he actually forgets Romano is a transman though— “My daughter? I have two sons- oooooh yeah. That- no I have two sons now.” Also he’s celibate. Has been for many many years, even before he was ordained.

Got bored joined a Hetalia rp server. Made an oc based on San Marino. Here’s my pretty girl who is basically “Zia Valeria” to the Italy brothers. She’s got beef with Grandpa Rome and doesn’t like when you remind her how old she is.

Eloisa Elowyn Marino

Elosia Marino -

Elosia was born on the 17th of April, 2003. 7 years after her brothers, John Marino and Paul Marino. The three siblings were always connected at the hip, but had a normal sibling rivalry where they play fought and if one person said left the other said right. When Eloisa was born her parents quickly put her into ice hockey like they did her older brothers. Both boy's were enamoured with her when she was born but she did drift closer to John as they both pursued hockey.

Facts and Information for Elosia -

During her teen years, Elosia spent a lot of summers dragging her family and friends to Cape Cod where she went surfing a lot. It quickly became her other sport outside of hockey and she even participated in minor competitions before she got a half scholarship to Boston University for her hockey.

While at BU aside from playing hockey she did a degree in sports medicine and modern history, both keen subjects for her. She alway's loved biology and history was something she got into as she got older, enjoying historical novels and traveling with her family and friends and stopping at little quaint towns with rich history.

One of Elosia's favourite things to do during university was find, quaint little cafe's to study at! She loves baking and cooking and this stemmed from doing it with her auntie when she was younger. She worked in a bakery later on in her teen years, expressing her love for baking and it very quickly became one of her favourite hobbies outside of hockey.

Elosia always had an eclectic selection of music she listen to growing up, trying multiple instruments before settling on the violin and playing in her school orchestra before playing recreationally when she got to university.

During the time she played for BU she grew quite close with Macklin Celebrini, the two became very close friends and confidents. They spent multiple nights in each others dorm, studying and watching movies or gossipping about crushes and eventually which team they might go to when they get drafted.

When Elosia was drafted she went to the Minesota Wild, draft pick #13.

Elosia met Jack Hughes through her brother when he played for New Jersey, they became really great friends and spent a lot of time together before beginning to date later on.

I revamped my old Hetalia OC a bit (mainly design changes and a slight personality tweak) but he lives inside my heart and has wriggled out through the cracks

fun facts about my San Marino OC:

•she has often played the monatto (the people who took in the seriously ill and those who died of the plague or other plagues) the vision of death is no longer a drama for her

•religious like few others

• she can speak Latin (more to speak to herself out loud without anyone understanding)

•if his quiff is pulled you find yourself with a gun pointed at your forehead

• the girl is very strong. In addition to lifting the dead, she was a stonebreaker.

• knows how to ride sports bikes (probably her little brother Nord was influenced by her)

• she has a large collection of stamps and she also made them

• she knows a lot about witchcraft and the like

• she has been convicted more than once, she has to wear the Nibbler (look it up on Wikipedia please) which is why she has a hole in her tongue

• she is wonderful at whistling (helped perhaps by the hole in her tongue?)

• Her voice is very low, almost no one can hear her

my oc is sammarinese (from san marino which is a country that is literally inside italy) so she often went on day trips to italy with her cousins, and was annoyed by her cousin brother who was karting at the time and would tell her about how good he was and stuff, so she tried it one time when she was in italy and was really good at it so the track owner suggested that she should actually take it up, but karting is expensive and she didn't have the funds, so the track owner pulled some strings and got vivienne westwood involved. vivenne, who was insanely impressed by oc, then got someone from porsche motorsports involved in it aswell. time skip to her f3 season, everyone is curious about why this insanely talented rookie is not under any f1 academy, but there's always been a porsche logo on her suit. come 2023, porsche announce their plans to join the grid in 2024 with mick schumacher and oc, who has been with the team and has played a huge part in the f1 team's formation since the plan started with her being their driver. when she was karting, oc was good simply because she fast and knew where to do what, but when she into formula racing, she realized she needed to do something more than just being quick and relying on the strategists- though no one knows it, she studies quite a lot of races of all her competitors to figure their driving out and that's why she always ahead of them. also in my head, italians have claimed her just like they have claimed charles, and even though she drives for a german team, since she was in junior formulas with prema who are very much italian, the love is there.

Decided to revisit her character and put more depth into her personality! :)

Republic of San Marino // Repubblica di San Marino

Natalina Stefanelli • she/her • September 3, 301 AD • 1,722 years old (19 human years)

Founded by Marinus of Rab, a Christain stonemason, who fled from the Roman Empire in an attempt to evade religious persecution by Emperor Diocletian. She’s an enclave microstate located in North-central Italy atop Mount Titano, the closest Italian city being Rimini, which is also the only access point by bus. The capital of San Marino is the City of San Marino. San Marino is the 5th smallest country in the world.

Although her boarders are open to anyone with a valid visa for Italy without any necessary boarder checks needed, she’s a fairly closed off person— well, she opens up a little bit with her family or selected friends around. But she prefers her own company over others the most. She’s very fond of old fashioned aesthetics and likes to keep things fairly the same. San Marino doesn’t get out often, but when she does it’s usually by force of Vatican City trying to make her socialize with someone other than her favorite barista, her next door neighbor, and mailman. She’s very welcoming to tourists and will interact with them when she feels like it. Veneziano visits her more than forces her out of the house. Sometimes he paints the pottery she makes. Romano and Seborga don’t visit much, they mainly interact during the family dinners Vatican City forces San Marino to come to once a year.

When she does open up, she’s a kind and inviting person who tends to talk a lot about the historical aspects of her home. She’s more than happy to bake you a special treat known as Torta Tre Monti— Cake of the Three Moutains/Towers. She prides herself on being the oldest sovereign state.

Being an enclave has made San Marino so used to limited space that she prefers it to having a big space. But it is nice to get out and go to the beach every once in awhile, by her choice of course. The Rimini beaches are her favorite to visit because it’s the closet.

She has three moles which represent the three towers of Mount Titano; the first mole by her mouth is the Cesta, the highest tower on the summit. The bigger mole on her neck is the Guaita, the oldest and most famous of the three. Lastly is the Montale, the smallest tower. The single stray curl in her straightened hair is a reference to her relation with the Roman Empire.

I focused more on the fact that she’s land locked by Italy and translated that in her being an ambivert— she prefers having time to herself, but she’s willing to spend time with others— sparingly that is. I dunno. I just thought it’d be a nice contrast to Veneziano, Romano, and Seborga’s personalities! She’s the one with the untreated social anxiety in the family :) /j but fr, I just thought having another bubbly freak or a grumpy boo would be way too overwhelming and would cause the characters to clash so I kind of settled in between that— depression! :DDD /j also I kind of wrote her with having the role of aunt for the Italy brothers. I remember debating on making her the big sister or aunt and landed on aunt for specific reasons I barely remember lol. But I really liked the idea so I ran with it. She and Vatican City are brother and sister. I wanted to add quite a bit of historical facts in this little character profile thing to kind of explain how she reacted in those situations but it’d be way too long if I did that lmao. But with what I did add, please feel free to correct me if it is wrong. I don’t care, just let loose and correct, fuck me up if you have to lmao. Also it was her birthday yesterday, September 3rd! Wish her a belated birthday :)

Denmark- beginning was cute, the rest was okayish.

Armenia- kinda liked it but nothing really memorable

Romania- it was weird. But like weird wierd not fun weird. Don't know what to think about it tbh. Dude had interesting voice though.

Estonia- meh, already forgotten about it.

Belgium- fun song, loved the girls <3 also dude has pants like some OC circa year 2000.

Cyprus- it's not full moon so why is he howling?

Iceland- I really liked her voice, song was only okay though...

Greece- fucking tragic. worst performance probably.

Poland- jfc those effects. sounds better than at our national selections but I'm still buttmad we were robbed of Jann.

Slovenia- cute dudes+ fun song.

Georgia- loved vibes it gave though I couldn't understand wtf she was singing. Also her dress was pretty

San Marino- had all the qualities to be fun, engaging performance but turned out super mid.

Over all super boring semi. I've fogotten half of the songs the moment they ended. Only highlights for me were Austria, Australia, Georgia, Belgium and Albania tbh.
