I appreciate that from everything that I've seen so far, the fandom has collectively decided that regardless of their Rook's overall personality and goals, we are all making it a high priority mission to irritate the living hell out of Solas with them.

look my dudes you don't gotta love everything, but you ALSO don't need to shit all over something people love as some kind of Hot Take™. you simply don't need to do it!
free yourself from needing to have a hot, negative take about everything—stop spreading negativity and spread some joy instead!!

I love how when Phil mentions game mechanics things it’s he’s so impressive look at all this cool knowledge he knows + haha 4th wall break.
But when tubbo does it, he’s not respecting rp and acting like a toddler (yes that was real comments) + -rp lost rp points

this might just be the pessimism talking but there are times when I feel the body positive movement is straight up Over. even stuff from now that’s meant to be body positive, or is packaged in that way, is of a lower caliber. like it feels like it’s gotten worse.

god i wish they hadn't retconned maul's death. i get wanting to explore more of his character because he was, objectively, one of the coolest star wars characters to ever hit the big screen and didn't get much screentime prior to his death, but also his role was fulfilled perfectly within those constraints so i wasn't too upset by it.
but by retconning it and making it so he never died it's like. okay. what now? the whole point (well, to me, ymmv of course) of the theed generator fight was that it was the first ever fight between the jedi and the sith in thousands of years, and that in the end even though the jedi (obi-wan) won the fight, a jedi (qui-gon) and a sith (maul) still died. a master and an apprentice dying together to herald the start of a new age/the return of the sith. perfectly paralleling the way in rotj a master (palps) and an apprentice (anakin/vader) died together to herald the return of the jedi. in both instances, a father figure (qui-gon/vader) dies in the arms of their son (obi-wan/luke) as a sith (palps/maul) is cast down into the abyss to their deaths. (palps being alive in the ST and retconning his death in rotj is also annoying for this reason)
i mean i like maul. don't get me wrong. he's an incredibly compelling character and i enjoy seeing more of him... but there's always the thought hovering in my mind like "he should be dead though. he should 100% be dead. this wouldn't be happening if he was dead, but i honestly would rather it not if it meant that maul was dead."
like the tpm fight just doesn't hit the same knowing that canonically he's just. going to become a robot octopus at some point. (shoutout to palps becoming sith glados in the ST) it cheapens the moment for me. it was supposed to be a moment of triumph marred by the deep and soul-crushing loss of a loved one and it's just... not, anymore. or at least not to the same extent. AUGH i'm just. frustrated. wish star wars as a whole wasn't constantly reframing/retconning what's been established. just puts a bad taste in my mouth.

I really don’t want swtor to shut down it’s the only eu thing that’s active we have left
I knew these asks were going to start coming in.
So for those who haven't heard, it was reported, and then later confirmed by Keith Kanneg on the forums, that EA is "selling" SWTOR to another developer, Broadsword. For those who want to read the article discussing it, you can read here: https://www.ign.com/articles/star-wars-the-old-republic-development-third-party-bioware
TL;DR -- It's not shutting down. The servers are going to stay active for a while
There's a few points to note here:
If I understand things correctly, EA actually owns Broadsword. So EA is in fact not actually offloading a property, I think what's actually happening is BioWare Austin itself is being divvied out and would not be surprised to see if that branch is shut down
At least half of the SWTOR dev team is part of this move, so the key things to keep an eye on is which members of the dev team are moving. If the narrative staff is kept intact, then we have more story ahead of us beyond what's been written, and they've confirmed we're getting 7.3, 7.3.1, and 7.4. It's important to note that their production timeline is generally a year out from things being written, so story-wise, if they have narrative staff, we'll likely still have some story drops ahead of us
SWTOR is profitable (it hit over $1 billion in profit several years ago), and I will admit I don't have the best understanding of video game finances, but my impresion it was far into the black and maybe not an enromous cash cow, but a decent consistent revenue stream. EA is a publisher that is about profits, so as long as the game is profitable, even if there's not new story drops, the game will stay online
Disney has seemingly taken a recent interest in SWTOR after mostly ignoring it after its acquisition of Star Wars, even going so far as to finally acknowledge the general KOTOR/SWTOR era in their presentations last year at Celebration. Does this ultimately mean anything? I don't know, but SWTOR is one of the longest running current properties with a stable player base. They're just as interested in profit as EA. Probably another indicator that the game will keep running for a while.
Other properties that Broadsword operates, such as Dark Age of Camelot and Ultima Online, are old games. Ultima Online was released in 1997, and the servers are still active. So like, I think regardless of what happens in regards of the story, we're not losing the ability to log in and play the game
Long term subscriptions - I remember reading, and forgive me, because I've long forgotten the source, that a key indicator if the servers are going offline is to also keep an eye on the six-month subscription option. Basically, if suddenly the only option for subs goes down to one month, that's when to worry about being able to actually play the game.
This is probably not about SWTOR, but BioWare as a whole. It seems there's a leadership issue at the main Alberta office that's causing issues. This is likely an Anthem issue all over again, but Anthem this time happens to be the Mass Effect and Dragon Age properties. Unfortunately, BioWare Austin looks like it's going to suffer the consequences of that, even though they've been running a tight ship overall compared to the rest of the branches. I feel for them. This sucks.
Now I'm not an oracle, I have no idea if this is ultimately a good or bad thing for the game itself. There's a lot of evidence for both sides of the coin, so right now the best thing is to wait and see. We at least have the promise of the next two patches. Let's focus on enjoying that, and celebrating what we love about our silly space game.
If you love the game, keep playing it. Spend money on it, and keep it profitable and it will stay around. Be kind and supportive of the devs, who regardless of how this shakes out, are going through a major transition. But immediately decrying an active game's death and going into doom and gloom is not going to help things.
Will we get more story beyond 7.4? I do not know one way or the other. I hope we do, but it's hard to say for certain on that front. But I do believe we'll still have our toons and be able to replay all of the released content for quite a while to come. Again, for now I'm just going to enjoy my favorite game, and support it as long as I have it. Even if this inevitably means it's going to change.

anyway. this is maybe my favorite thread i’ve found on twitter the past couple days about why empathy directly translates to being able to enjoy sports regardless of the outcome. we’d all be better off and less bitter if we were willing to embrace the randomness of sport (especially ice hockey) or admit that the people we’re watching are actual people, lol. thank you twitter user himbeaux_on_ice for the logic in a sea of ugliness lkjsdklfjsdkl

Max is SO right. The organizers have confused passion with show. The lasers and dj's create an artificial hype and it feels empty. Being against that is NOT saying you only want 'boring' technical engineering analysis.
We want excitement!!! We want passion!!! But that only comes from having an emotional connection to what is happening. The REAL stories being told on and off track are so much more engaging than what people are boiling it down to.
It's not just about fast cars, excessive money and celebration. It's about the stories!!! It's about the underdogs, the redemption arcs, the villains you end up rooting for, the heroes and their flaws and their journeys, the adrenaline of giant risks and rewards, the team dynamics, the sacrifices, the victories, the pain of giving everything and it not being enough.
There is no artificial hype needed, we just want real passion.

what is it about angeal that has people so ready to bend over backwards to blame clunky writing and bad execution for his hypocrisy rather than ever consider the possibility that he is, in fact, written Like That On Purpose
like even if it wasn't explicitly the devs' intent (which i personally would prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt, but i will acknowledge we shouldn't assume the authorial intent in one way or another), isn't that boring?? just ignoring literally everything that is in the text rather than engaging in ANY form of conversation with it??? if you're just gonna toss out everything about a character wholesale because "bad writing!!!" instead of think about any implications of their behavior then were you even a fan of the character in the first place????

Hey 👋
Favourite falcon and winter soldier scenes??
Hi dear! Tksm for asking my opinion! 💙
Well, as you can see, I'm a Bucky simp and I drool every time he appears on screen. And even though I usually make quite a lot of criticisms to the series because of the unfair, insensitive and often offensive approach the production had of Bucky, there were also many scenes that I found very beautiful and touching... so it's really hard to choose from all of them, but this is my attempt, in no particular order..
• "You are free"
Tumblr media
God... this scene is so powerful, overwhelming, touching and sad at the same time that I have no words... I can't watch this scene without crying... i'm crying right now
• Bucky saving the hostages and being thanked by one of them
Tumblr media
The look of surprise is his face is so touching, like he never expected anyone to ever thank him for anything, this scene brings tears to my eyes...
• Bucky bringing Zemo to the Dora Milaje
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bucky let him talk all he wanted and his only response was to pull the trigger of an empty gun and drop the bullets from his other hand. The Winter Soldier is no more, his name is James Bucky Barnes...
• You can't dethrone the King
Tumblr media
I love so much how this fight scene is actually "You can't dethrone the King." And the fact that Bucky always used the back unsharp side of the knife when fighting is just so *chef kiss*
• Bucky just relaxing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing him carefree and smiling fills my heart like nothing else 😭💓
