Why Hazbin is so dear to my heart ❤️

I know this might be cringe to others but idc, here we are cringe and free ✨🙌

I’m not kidding when I say Hazbin seriously saved me when it comes to art and other things in my life. Before the first season released I was feeling so lost with where to go with my art, I only drew anime girl with simple pose, and while there is nothing bad with that cus I still do like those arts, I just felt like something was missing, I wasn’t satisfied at all but didn’t know what to do about it.

Then after watching the show and becoming completely sucked into the story and the characters, I realised what I was missing. I had stopped drawing art with emotion and a story behind it. I only drew for the aesthetic and nothing more, while that is what a lot of artists enjoy doing, it was just not the path I wanted to take.

Years ago as a kid I did draw art that had a story behind them and comics as well, and that’s what Hazbin finally brought me back to. It pushed me out of my comfort zone again and challenged me to draw different things. It has really made me look forward to doing art again, and helped with my depression. While ofc I still struggle with my depression it would be much worse if I had not gotten into this show. I honestly don’t know where I would be right now.

Hazbin helped me:

- Find my love for art again

- Find a lot of new friends to talk to since I used to only speak to like 2 people before

- Make my mood so much better that I felt well enough to move back into my own apartment

- Just find motivation in life overall and to continue fighting

Anyways don’t mind my little ramble ahahh! This is why when I constantly see hate about Hazbin such as ”Nobody likes this show” ”It is such a bad show why do people care about it?”

Like sure you can dislike it that’s fine, but don’t say that NOBODY likes this show. A lot of people do, and I know there are many artists that found their motivation again thanks to this show. So while it is not for you, it is very special to a lot of us 🩵

Tokyo Mew Mew X Lisa Frank style! 🌈✨

a little process (kind of) gif, since I knew there was no way I'd be able to record a speedpaint with as time consuming as this actually was! I also merged a lot of layers while working just because I had an ungodly amount of them and clip studio KEPT CRASHING BECAUSE OF IT. Like for such a simple looking style it's actually very involved...and I had to color most everything on separate layers, which I don't usually do?

this was a big compilation of lf refs I made- you can see there's actually three main different body types that are done: very chibi, semi chibi, and a more realistic doll sorta body. I did semi chibi because I thought it would be the most recognizable + easy. I never really color with the airbrush except for highlights, but a good 70% of these are airbrush shaded (there are a few that are more cell shaded randomly?) so that was.. an Experience trying not to let the colors get muddy. something also really interesting about the lisa frank style is that the animals are drawn pretty realistically compared to other cartoon animals (except the eyes), but they are colored with the rainbow whimsical colors.

the stickers added (the hearts and stars) are based on real lf stickers. I have a sticker book and opened it to reference them! and obviously the girl's specific animals have never been drawn in lisa frank style, but it was easy to base them off animals she HAS drawn like the husky for the wolf, the usual cat for the iromote cat, the dolphins referenced for the porpoise, etc.

this is something I've wanted to do ever since I did that mira drawing in the lisa frank style last may!

I think I def improved on emulating the style!! ofc the above drawing was done in a day for my daily may challenge to myself last year, but still.

I am tempted to take this newer art to a print shop that does folders and see if they won't print me a folder with it for nostalgia's sake. I just think it'd be really really funny to put..idk, tax documents into it, lmao. But I’d need to draw another one so the front and back could have different images (if I flipped this version the text would be backwards on one side!!) and I’m not sure if I’d want to draw like.. the girls in their cafe uniforms, berry and ringo, or maybe the aliens for the back side of the folder? 🤔 and with me trying to get more comic pages and dtiys prizes done this month and artfight in July I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do that! But another one of these might be in the future! 🫣

here’s something I’ve seen in other fandoms with flying characters that you might like— losing control of their powers when giddy and just… floating, higher and higher the happier they get (esp if their partner/crush is involved 😉)

now imagine espilver where espio flirts (back???) or does something that flusters silver and makes him just kinda start to drift off the ground

Took longer with this one but I just found the idea so cute! ;u; also, using my style instead of the usual one just because, for some reason, trying to use the other one is kinda stressing me a little bit, I hope that's alright :')

I don't usually make Silver the flustered one (not anymore at least) so I had to take this chance lol I imagine it's very rare to see Espio laughing like this or something, like he smiles and all (he's not supposed to be a cold character after all) but laughing or smiling so widely might be more uncommon. A bit of it has to do with my headcanon of him actually having pointy teeth (like Knuckles) and feeling embarrassed about it, so he tries to not show them at all. Ofc Silver would actually think they're cool or something, and would appreciate little moments like this. I usually prefer to think characters with very powerful abilities have a lot of control on them because of training and stuff, but he's someone that probably isn't very experienced with emotions (not things like having a crush at least) so this could happen, maybe not a lot, but definitely in little moments like this one✨

Monkey Wrench Episode 4 Fanart: Caught in Their Game (December 2024)

I absolutely LOVED the new Monkey Wrench episode! :D

HOLY COW, @zeurelart, @neatotito and the rest of the @monkey-wrench-series team did a phenomenal job this time around (please give them some love bc they absolutely deserve it)!

So it only made sense for me to finish this drawing (the idea for which had been mulling in my mind through the months MW episode 4 was being teased), which I enjoyed creating.

Below are the close-ups, as well as me rambling about the reasoning behind the symbolism here:

(SPOILER WARNING FOR MW EPISODE 4 FROM THIS POINT ON!)

Since I realised MW Episode 4 centred around the theme of games (literal and metaphorical), I couldn't not include references to games to associate with the following characters.

Shrike, Beebs, Agent K, and Kara = Arcade games

Campion Ajax = Chess

Tyneen = Video/computer games

Jawbone = Darts

Disco Head = Casino card games

Disco Head is the most self-explanatory (because ✨casino✨ - those cards were SO fun to render btw):

Episode 4 confirms that DH took over the Thicc Chicc Casino after Kara assassinated the previous owner, Chester McNevins, in Episode 1. It also implies DH worked with Agent K and Kara to take over the casino by "taking care" of Chester (that's just my theory ofc).

In Episode 4, Shrike is tempted by the pixel DH gave him. In a moment of cockiness, Shrike believes that he can succeed in his gambling spree from luck alone (DH even said "Today's your lucky day!" after giving him that pixel) - to which he was completely unsuccessful.

While not explicitly referenced in this drawing, a popular casino card game is Blackjack. A common misconception regarding Blackjack is that winning the game is purely determined by the luck of the players (i.e. Shrike being overconfident about his luck). In truth, there is a lot of skill and strategy required in order to be successful at the game (i.e. DH's charming persona and ability to play into Shrike's weaknesses to make him gamble all of his and Beeb's money).

Additionally, Blackjack is a game where players compete against the dealer, not each other. In my opinion, this idea makes sense (in a roundabout way, at least) for DH, given his dealings with three of the five antagonists in this episode: Agent K, Kara and Jawbone. All three have different motives to DH's, yet they work together and are connected through him.

2. Speaking of Jawbone, I wanted to reference two kinds of darts:

The game darts (which he plays in the scene at the bar)

Poison darts (which in my mind made sense given his hatred of Shrike, as seen in the green "cataclysm-poisoned saliva" and the sticker on the dart)

3. Initially, I wanted to reference a joke about "gamer rage" with Tyneen and her competitiveness.

But when watching the episode, I did not expect video games to actually be mentioned in relation to her (with Jawbone owing her a copy of the video game 'Marrow Inheritance').

4. Ah, yes: Campion Ajax (I always disliked him from the moment he was teased and, by the end of this episode, I wanted to replace all his steaks with rocks and send him on a one-way trip to the Marina Trench for trying to hurt Beebs >:[ ).

The reason why I gave Ajax a blue chess pawn was because that's how I felt he saw Beebs:

A feeble, inferior* pawn to potentially use to fulfil his selfish goals.

(*Ajax even called Beebs "inferior" when talking about his prosthetics, which... I felt so bad for poor Beebs having to endure the torment of this guy, and I'm SO glad he stood his ground and saw through his manipulation.)

5. For some reason, the idea of an arcade game fascinated me (our protagonists feeling trapped in both their insecurities and in a much bigger game, perhaps?), especially as a way to connect the antagonists to our protagonists' stories through colours (in the cabinet designs and the arcade buttons):

Yellow = Disco Head

Green = Jawbone

Red = Tyneen

Purple = Ajax

Dark blue = Kara

Black and white = Agent K

Another colour motif I included, which you can also see in the lighting and the background, is the pairing of turquoise blue (cyan) and magenta pink - which you can see in the lighting of the final battle scene.

Yes, I did intend to give Shrike and Beebs backgrounds that are different to their usual colour motifs.

Shrike (usually associated with red) = turquoise/blue

Beebs (usually associated with blue) = magenta/purple

(I'm sure you can guess why I also drew the glass screen cracked between Shrike and Beebs... given the ending.)

On top of that, you could argue that the antagonists in Episode 4 would be great as "arcade/video game bosses" who can have their own "boss fights" or merge into one big "final boss fight" (with different stages).

Also I think Agent K is cool (and would definitely make an awesome "final boss" alongside Kara) with his design and his vibes, enough said. :]

Some of yall already know this probably but I personally like that each ghoul have some supernatural abilities(not necessarily has to be element related) and I LOVE -whoever named him I will thank you forever- they named a multi Swiss Army Knife. I’m mentioning this whenever I can in every language I know. I understand it’s bc he does everything on stage but I like it because it’s an actual tool and man-made??? and not like, from nature like other ghouls. In my mind Swiss ghoul is very uncanny💀…and he’s aware of himself being unhinge too. All of them are demon ofc with different stories but Swiss’ built more like a human with blood and flesh in my mind. He can metal-bend I like drawing sharp stuff around him. Enhances those pearly whites:)))

And piercings/Nails/staples ✨

Mountain is humanoid. He’s more tree than mammal. A zombie. His mental state is just being around somewhere and being included to a certain level. Very minding his personal space. He’s just there to observe (like what tree does). He doesn’t really have any functional organs they are all just there(or don’t).

Unlike Swiss who might had a sinful human life before he became a ghoul, a demon, Mountain has always been this way. Naturally formed…into a ghoul. (Might be a dead/zombie deer before he became a ghoul I also like that idea)

I like to think they are a more predator/prey leaning dynamic but always switching. Swiss might came off as the hunter at first but how can someone win in other’s natural habitat…Mountain might be his new toy and looks soft but there’re so much Swiss doesn’t know or unfamiliar with about his new prey. He got overly confident that he can’t see himself got lured into a honey-glazed trap. Just the games these two are secretly playing and absolutely up to no good, I can’t get enough <33

Get comfy and reread with me the finale of the Il Mheg arc and the intro of a certain loser.

First off, I wanna emphasize how important this arc’s for Vivi. Had he not liked Il Mheg in general and Feo Ul in particular, the rest of the story would play out very differently, and not in favor of the sundered. His initial positive impression of the First is pretty much the only thing that saves it.

Re: distant nightmare, I’ll let you in on a secret, or a third party perspective if you will. Vivi's full of shit, he's too focused on the big picture. He’s narrating this whole story, but his perspective is, well, just that.

Initially this was Vivi's inner monologue, then I thought that I should just let them talk, and it wrote itself.

This here’s an example of a moment where I’m uncertain if I’m being too subtle and if this flies over some readers’ heads. He refers to Alisaie’s “job” of dragging Vivi back to msq, which she recently started lowkey dreading (episodes 32-33)

...Though she goes back to her “duty” in episode 43.

She's pointedly SILENT throughout the episode, doing her best to hold back.

Thancred's a man who can say no to begging dogs.

Gridania mention! Vivi’s gridanian! He never speaks ill of the elementals, he's wary of them even a world apart.

This pixie's life is something Feo Ul's willing to sacrifice. Episodes 42-43 tell this story in reverse order, yes this’s the pixie that was supposed to agree with Thancred and go with the Scions to the Crystarium.

As to why there’s a dozen of vivis popping up as a backup: they needed just one fake Vivi to go with the Scions, but try organizing the pixies. Their plan’s already failed when this first pixie-Vivi refused to play their part.

“Yeah no, our guy’s special, but not as special as to explode in confetti”

I love his first ingame appearance in that Varis cutscene, this moment has similar energy: barely enters the stage, instantly gets impaled on a long object. This’s not foreshadowing, no, why would you think that-

The “camera” is perfectly still, there’s even some symmetry, demonstrating how calm and prepared Emet is. He didn’t expect much and he’s still disappointed.

This’s a super old comic. I spent the first half of 2022 testing and trying to find a style for Fragments, back then I had no plans, none, zero, absolutely no interest to give Emet a role bigger than a mention. The earliest version of the script had very few Emet scenes, which, looking back on it, was gonna be a disservice to his character. Well, that changed rapidly in late 2023 when I fell for him so hard that I broke my neck, and now I look back on a lot of what I did with Vivi with new eyes. THE EYEROLL. After spending two years developing a guy for a fun wolgraha chemistry (at the same time I was perfectly aware that Exarch and Emet are foils. I made a foil for Exarch, what on earth did I expect-), I’m going through a mindblow after mindblow as I realize HOW GOOD VIVI IS FOR EMET (and vice versa ofc) and how many things they have in common. This wasn’t always the case, Vivi just gradually got more cynical, tired, ✨grey✨ and everything else that makes a guy consider hitting it with The Other Old Man.

They’re off to a great start.

From Emet’s pov, this must really hurt, as in how many other shards of Azem might’ve snarled at him like this. Even though he must be numb to it by now, who says that there isn’t the tiniest flicker of hope when he approaches yet another not-Azem. He may deny and hate and try to snuff out that spark, but the fatal Soulmate Magnet keeps doing its thing.

Parallels to episode 2.

Apparently, Vivi’s first reaction to encountering his to-be-most-prominent boyfriends is to attack them somehow.

This’s really, REALLY dumb of him, and he even comments on it shortly after. But yes, his isekai tale in the First was rather pleasant just until now, and it lulled him into the false sense of security. OF COURSE there are ascians everywhere, not just on the Source. Vivi just forgor.

Emet tests Vivi's reactions to insults/being treated as a lesser, silliness, flirt.

I regret to inform you that both Vivi and Alisaie have been disarmed so easily. The tone quickly shifts, the weapon’s lowered.

Alisaie makes bad puns/jokes in canon, I thought it'd fit if she laughed at that kinda jokes too, and in the least fitting situations, to top it off. Alphinaud’s disappointed, even if he can hardly be called an expert in humor.

“It’s up to you”. Emet stops fooling around, assuming a more serious tone. He may not respect Vivi or his agency here, but he provides him with a choice that's guaranteed to give him some trust points, and uses "we" for an illusion of unity/equality, a not really subtle nudge towards cooperation, it's not me vs you anymore, it's "us".

Whether Vivi picks up on the manipulation or not remains to be seen, but Emet gets his way here.

Forgive me this lil tangent, but I’m so giddy and excited to write Emet. If Exarch’s decently emotionally intelligent but still obtuse at times, Vivi’s a tier or two above him, he’s not a stranger to manipulation, he registers it being used on him, and doesn’t hesitate to use it too when it suits his fancy. He's quite good at people-ing. Emet, though, Emet’s THE emotional intelligence personified. He’s had literal thousands of years to practice, he leaves everyone else in the dust in this regard. It’s daunting but so exciting to write him, I hope to do him justice.

Hidden Angst Time! It's all hehe haha until you realize that this might be a product of the hectic wol lifestyle forcing him to speedrun his emotions like this. Either speedrun, or be left with no opportunity to process them at all.

Also, the sandwiches! The framing’s deliberate, they’re on the foreground all the time, and Vivi only notices them in the very last panel.

The fact that a guy that Vivi had briefly considered as partner material shut himself away in the Crystal Tower for what could be the rest of his life has stuck with Vivi for good. Or should I say for bad. He might not necessarily care about ARRRaha, still it upsets him that he kissed someone who practically killed himself some days later.

I recently talked a lil more about the Bitchless Liar. This’s how Vivi remembers him forever, take it or leave it. But hey, this cool Exarch guy has big balls probably <- in-universe hc \o/

This episode taught me to draw BREAD.

Even though Exarch’s been nothing but sweet so far, one thing’s to acknowledge a fact with your brain, another thing’s to wrestle with your trauma and paranoia that have all rights to exist and fester. Ever since HW Vivi doesn’t accept food and drinks from anyone except the few trusted sources. This isn’t really covered in this episode, but hopefully hinted at just enough.

He takes a leap of faith. Or maybe he’s simply sick and tired of living Like This. Maybe sandwiches kill him, and he doesn’t really mind. And, when they don’t, he goes through a visible shift in attitude towards Exarch, as we’re able to see in the following episodes.

Cause I saw a little video of Harvey going hard; dancing to MiseryxCPR(xReese's Puffs) and it had me laughing for a long while, and I wondered who would be the ones singing the song if say the stardrop saloon had some kind of karaoke night

My head tells me both Sam and Abagail would end up doing Reeses's puffs, but that would leave one of the other songs without a host :/

Harvey would probably end up saying stuff about how cpr doesn't require mouth-to-mouth anymore or smthn, and Shane probably worried Marnie would walk in-or just, too drunk off his ass having fun to care 🤔

Honestly i can imagine them all just being pissed drunk before attempting to sing the song😂. i know fersure the SHE trio would require more liquid courage for it (heck even to join/start a kareoke sesh!)

Shane gives of major Kareoke Tito (uncle) vibes~. Yknow that one tito who specifically sings “My Way” by Frank Sinatra and has a bunch of classic rock songs under his belt. He’s not good at singing perse but he can at least carry a tune. He and Sebastian would totally connect with singing Misery. but like Shane vaguely knows the song (he’s heard it on radio a bajillion times but he doesnt know the name of the song so its not quite on his playlists) so he when he’s super sloshed and can barely read the screen, he tries to sing it from memory and misses a couple of the words. but hey! at least he knows the chorus and is in tune.

Meanwhile Sebastian has Misery “secretly” on his go to playlist. He doesnt admit it (the songs is too main stream and overplayed but he stumbled upon a vocaloid cover and rest is history.) He definitely always chooses the song every kareoke sesh (although not his first choice) and he’s passionate about it even has a little performance too(lots of head bangs, fist pumps and that classic 2000s disney knees bent together, feet wide apart moment)! For his duet with shane he’s the first to shed a lil tear and that gets shane going and they cry through most of the song in their own lil misery world ignoring the chaos around them.

Sam is a fucking menace for singing CPR and I do agree He and Abigail would go off on Reese’s Puff BUT i can definitely imagine being commited to singing CPR (we all know he’d awkwardly twerk). Especially if it was to troll on Harvey who probably thought it was a wholesome song about doing CPR at a specific BPM. 😂

Harvey good lird poor harvey! He’s probably the most sober out of everyone. It doesnt help that he’s no light weight + lowkey becomes designated baby sitter everytime (he’s soooooooo going charge them extra in the morning if they come stumbling into his clinic asking for some hangover cure). He was so excited about adding a new song to CPR tempo list he was gonna teach at the nex first aid classes!! Who would have thought that a singer with a cute wholesome name like Cupcakke was just so… sooooo SCANDALOUS!!! He should have known Sam was up to something the moment he grabbed him by the shoulder!!! “This is medical malpractice, Samson!!!” He spends the whole trying to sush Sam who’s having so much fun laughing at Harvey’s reaction 😂

It's to turn off the 'Anti-aliasing'! Usually ppl have this on so the lines appear much smoother. But in this case, we want it off to get a more jagged and pixelated outline✍️

Here's how you do it!🫵

If you already has 'Tool Property' on your workspace, simple toggle it off by clicking the first option. If you can't find the option, go to the setting, search for Anti-aliasing and click the box so it will always visible in your Tool Property panel!

All you have to do is go to the 'Window' menu, find and click the 'Tool Property'.

MAURIDEW!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHGHHFHFHGHDHSJSJCJ!!!!!!!" AND THEN I REALIZED HOW MUCH POTENTIAL I COULD MAKE WITH THEM!!! jack is more on the chaotic evil side, while maurice would be more on the chaotic good side, and both would be chaotic icons who like to mess around!! in a modern school setting, they would do silly and harmless pranks lol I LOVE THEMMMMM

- quiet kids quiet kids!!!! i think they'd be cute together too, with obviously a lot of angst. honestly i used to think them a lot more last year, but not many people are talking about them anymore so they appear in my mind less frequently now. i participated in many rogermon angst roleplays with my fellas back then and boy oh boy were they ANGSTY. they were depressing as hell LIKE IN A GOOD WAY OFC BC THE PLOTS WE MADE WERE CRAZY but yeah they're cool :D

- i just thought they'd be aight together! i think in some way they'd get along very well, maybe share a few inside jokes. :3 not much to say abt them tbh but i just get the vibe that they'd be swaggin together ^_^

- i remember when this ship was popping off in the tag for like a week or so and i fw'd it SO HEAVY. i like their vibe, and i think they have the potential to be a very silly duo. they didnt interact much in the book tho so we can't tell for sure about the relationship they have in canon, but the good thing is that it leaves a lot of room for imagination and creativity of our super swaggy ralger shippers in this community 🔥🔥 I LOVE YGS SMMMMMM AAAAAHGHGGH YGS ARE SO COOLLLLLL
