A Little Miracle Part 2

Ben asked as James rushed to the hotel, managing to just make the bus. "Sorry, I had to see Y/N, she needed me" James told him, trying to not get around as to what really happened. "Oh is she okay?" Ben asked. "Yeah she is cool" James smiled.

James was bursting to tell people his joy, but he knew it wasn't the time or place. He didn't want to just say it without you being there. James text you while he was on the bus. "How is Luna and you of course?" he asked. "She is okay, the midwife said she needs to still be checked. But I was wheeled down to go and see her. She is doing well. I am alright, sore but okay. I miss you" you sent him. "Aww I miss you too. I am glad she is doing okay. I haven't told the boys yet, they won't be told for a while" James replied. "That is cool" you laughed as his mum walked in. "I got you loads of stuff, I hope this is okay for her. She didn't half surprise us, but I promise it is a beautiful one" She smiled. "Thank you, I am happy she is here. Even though I feel incredibly under prepared. But she is a blessing. We named her" you smiled as she handed you the bag. "Aww have you?" You nodded. "Luna Hope" you grinned. "Oh that is beautiful, I am so happy to have my first grandchild" she kissed the top of your head. "I hope she is okay. I need cuddles" you moaned. "They are just checking her, shall I see if I can get an update on her?" she asked. "Would you? I am feeling a little uncomfortable" you shuffled in the bed. "Yes I will go and see them" She left the room. "What is the problem Y/N?" She asked you. "My back is hurting a little" you said. "Would you like some medication? You should be able to go and see Luna again soon" she suggested. "That is good, am I allowed to bring in someone? She hasn't met her grandchild yet fully" you smiled. "Yes we can sort that out" she smiled as she handed you the tablets. "Thank you" you got into the wheelchair as you were wheeled back down to see your daughter. "Hello princess, how is she doing?" you asked. "She is doing very well, considering you didn't know about her. She is doing extremely well. We will give her a bottle and we will see if she takes it. Then you will be able to go home?" you smiled as you put your finger in the gap, seeing if she grip it. You took some photos so you could show everyone and announce it to the world. "She is beautiful, what a little princess" His mum smiled as you could see her well up. "Are you crying?" you asked her as she bit her bottom lip "Come here, lets cuddle" you gave her a cuddle. "I know this is a shock to you. I get that. I am nit sure who I feel in all honesty. This is scary" you mumbled as you felt a tear drop from your face. "Sorry, you need to deal with this together. It is going to be okay. We can get through this together you smiled and agreed. "How about we head back? you missy need tome sleep. You must be exhausted?" she questioned you. "Yes I am very tired, I will sleep and then I can watch James" you smiled. "Let's go sweetie" you smiled as you headed back to the bed. You climbed out of your chair and got into bed. "I will go and get a coffee while you sleep okay. I may head back to yours so I can get some clothes for you. Would that be okay?" you nodded. Yes I would like that, thank you" you smiled. - Once you were finally settled, James's mum headed home as she needed to get ready for work. It was just you on your own. You were slightly nervous about being stuck in hospital with no James and no baby as Luna was still having observations. James was in the starting 11 and you couldn't wait to watch him play. "Y/N, we have Luna back here. She has all the tests needed, she is a little miracle. She has done extremely well with us. I will show you how to make up a bottle and you can feed her here." you smiled. "Thank you" you nodded as you sat up in the bed as she wheeled Luna in. "Hello princess" you smiled as she handed you her, being very careful not to hurt either of you. "So here is the bottle you can make up, obviously you haven't developed any milk. I don't know if you will or not. But this will be easiest for you" you took Luna in your arms as you fed her the bottle. " Thank you, she is taking it" you smiled. "Aww see, I am glad she is latching on. It is just practice now. You will get used to it, I know this is a shock still. But you are doing very well" she smiled as she left the room. "Thank you" you nodded. The Leicester game was on now. You smiled when you saw James appear on the screen. "There is your daddy, look see him. You saw him earlier" you smiled as you cooed over her while watching James play. He scored. "yay, that is your daddy" you whispered as you noticed Luna was asleep while you celebrated. James went to the camera and did a heart to the camera. Hopefully it was for both you and Luna. You felt your heart melt as you watched him doing his thing. You were so proud of him every single day. Now that he was a dad and it just made you so happy. Leicester won the game 4-0. He was travelling back and unable to come and see you both as it was so late still. But he did manage to text you before you fell asleep again. - A few days had passed and you were both allowed home after numerous check ups. James was there will the car seat putting Luna in. "I feel so unprepared" he sighed. "Don't worry I do too. But we will get the hang of it, no parent is perfect. Everyone struggles, it is going to be okay. We have got this J, promise" you smiled as you kissed him shoulder as you leant into him. "Sorry I forgot to ask. How are you feeling?" He asked. "I am okay, tired. Still in pain, but I am ready for my new chapter in my life now" you grinned. "Is she okay?" you asked as James put her in, clipping everything into place. "Yes she is fine. Let's go" you smiled as you took your bags and left to go home as a three. As you headed home, James was driving as slowly as he could. He tried not to disturb Luna who was sleeping. "Is she okay?" James asked as he looked in his mirror at you. "Yes she is sound asleep" you smiled as you touched her finger. James pulled into your drive and parking. "Shall I grab her?" you nodded as you climbed out of the car as you grabbed your bags. You opened the door as James took Luna's car seat. "Oh wow, James. Oh my god" you jumped as his parents cheered as you walked through the living room to see all balloons for your new arrival. "Oh wow, you did this" you smiled as you wiped your eyes. James kissed your cheek. "Yes we did. We wanted to surprise you baby, you didn't get to celebrate this one because well we didn't know. But do you like the balloons?" you nodded. "Thank you" you wiped your eyes. "I am so grateful for this, thank you. Ignore my tears, I guess my hormones are kicking in" you laughed as James put his arms around your shoulders as he kissed the top of your head. "I love you baby, you deserve this so much" you smiled. "Darling, sit down I will make you a cup of tea. You need it" you smiled as you nodded because you agreed as you were exhausted. You sat down as James handed Luna to his dad. "Oh she is so small, I can't believe it. She is a little button, I am so happy you are here little princess. I am going to spoil you completely rotten" you laughed. "He isn't lying either" he laughed. "How are you feeling baby?" James asked. "Tired, but I am so glad to be home. I am very sleepy, I could do with a nap. The tea will hopefully perk me up" you laughed as his mum handed it to you. "Thank you" you grinned. "Y/N, I got you some clothes and everything you needed. Please don't feel like we are being too forward here. But I hope you like everything we got her." She showed you all the clothes she got Luna. "Oh wow, thank you so much. These are gorgeous. No I wouldn't think you were being forward, I am so grateful, thank you so much" you told her as you gave her a cuddle. "No problem sweetie" "But babe, we did do something while you were away. Well me and dad did, okay mainly dad. But never mind. Come upstairs and I will show you what we've done" you looked at him confused as what could he have possibly done. "Oh James, this is so beautiful. I can't believe you both did this. With such short notice too, I love it. It is so pretty, I want to get Luna on the wall in those alphabet chunky letters. I think that will be so cute, I am sure we can still order stuff" you told him. "Of course princess, we can get some stuff. Obviously at short notice, this is good right?" you nodded. "Thank you" you wiped your teary eyes. "Silly girl, don't cry" "Thank you for her bedroom, I love it so much. It is beautiful, I obviously still need to order stuff. But it will be cute. Thank you so much again" you grinned as you hugged his dad. "My pleasure sweetheart, my first grandchild is obviously going to get spoilt." you smirked. "Yes she is" you teased him. - Luna was four weeks old. Only James and your family knew about her. The boys kept pestering James as why they weren't around over because they were usually over every couple of nights. But what with Luna, you wanted to settle her into a routine and didn't really want to disturb it just yet. "So can the boys come round tonight? There is only so many times I can be quiet about her" you laughed. "Yes James, the boys can come round. She can be show finally" you reassured him. "Thanks babe, I will call tem now" you agreed. "Thank you for finally agreeing" he kissed your lips as he went and called the boys. - The doorbell went and it was the boys coming in. "Oh my god" Ben stopped in his track. "What?" Harvey moaned as they crashed into him. "Is that a baby?" Ben pointed as he walked towards you both as Luna was laying on the pillow. "Yes that is a baby" you smirked. "Wait? You had a baby? When did this happen? We didn't even know you were pregnant? Did you not tell us or? I am so confused" Ben through 1000 questions at you both. "Yes I had a baby, don't worry we didn't hide it from you. Well I had bad stomach pains and I went to hospital. I kind of found I was pregnant there" you laughed. "What no you are joking? So you had no idea?" you nodded at the boys. "Yes no idea. Would you like to meet her? This is Luna Hope Maddison" you smiled as James handed his daughter over to Ben. "Wow, she is just like you Y/N. She is gorgeous" James watched his best friends picking up his daughter was the proudest moment. "So you had no idea? How?" Harvey asked. "I had my period every month, on the pill. No sickness, I didn't put on any weight. So that is how I didn't know. But she is our little miracle and she is worth it every second. I am so happy with her here. I am so glad you finally found out. There was only so long we could keep it hidden But I hope you get why we did it" You told them. "She is beautiful. I am happy she is here. She doesn't realise what amazing uncles she is going to have in her little life" you rolled your eyes because you just knew this was very true. "She is one cute little baby, glad she didn't look like James" you smirked. "Thanks bro, I will ignore you after that one. Well I am happy you get to meet my little princess" James watched upon his friends as they all cooed over his angel. "Thank you for the most amazing surprise. I am sure I can find a way too thank you for my little princess. I am so happy she is here even if she did shock us" James pressed his lips to your head as you cuddle into his chest. "I love you and my little Luna"

Hey, so a friend recently asked for Stucky fic recs, which made my year because she's barely in the fandom, but it's also a challenge, because she has a trauma disorder and I don't want to suggest anything that would trigger her. Do you have any recs that have 0 mentions of trauma or angst? I know that it's a favorite trope with our guys, because even the fluff I find is hurt/comfort.

Oh, yeah, I can see how it would be difficult to find angst/trauma-free fics in this fandom. Hm. I can definitely give a few recommendations, but I’ll split them up by canon and AU, since, honestly, you’re more likely to find pure fluff in an AU but if your friend isn’t that deep into the fandom she might want canon-based fics.

Also: I have read all of these, but I’m filtering through my bookmarks, taking out anything related to angst, PTSD, etc, but not everyone tags things like that, especially if they consider it a given in the fandom that Bucky or Steve are going to be experiencing some issues related to either of their traumas. It’s also been months or years since I’ve read some of these; nothing stood out to me as bad when I made this list, but I will be more than happy to give them a more thorough look if you’d prefer that before showing them to your friend. Just let me know, and you can message my main account @greyhavensking if you’d prefer to do it more privately.

AU:

Little League by JJK is a short-ish fic featuring former baseball player Steve and a Bucky who loves his nephew enough to brave his little league games. It’s been a bit since I read this, but it is mainly fluff as far as I remember; there’s some paintball involved and some... I guess you’d call it identity porn? Bucky doesn’t recognize Steve at first, I mean. Steve does discuss his mom’s death from an illness and the impact that had on him, as well. If that works out, there’s a sequel, but the rating does go up in that one (just to Mature, but I don’t know what people are comfortable with).

Captain Cosplay by Ignisentis and alby_mangroves is a Captain America Steve Rogers/Modern Bucky Barnes fic which. Well. The big feature of the fic is Bucky cosplaying Steve using some strangely accurate materials. I haven’t read this one in a couple years, but I don’t recall there being anything angsty in it. But I would be more than happy to give it a re-read if you want a more in-depth answer, though I would also suggest at least glancing at these before showing them to your friend, as I don’t know the specifics and am unsure exactly what would be triggering for her.

say you’ll bee mine by deceptivesoldier, obsessivereader, and talkplaylove is another Cap!Steve/Modern!Bucky fic. Lots of bee puns, lots of the boys being cute. Again, since this is Cap!Steve and it’s his POV, there might be a mention of his experiences/mental health that I’m not remembering, so the offer stands if you’d like me to re-read this one and then get back to you.

This is a series by Alexicon, most of which are short and sweet, and while I haven’t read all of them, the ones I did read feature little to no angst. Except for Blood Is Thicker Than Carpet Cleaner; that opens with a fight scene between Steve and several bad guys, and there’s another one later in the fic where Bucky joins in. Bucky’s past as the Winter Soldier is also briefly discussed, so I would probably skip that one altogether, depending on what your friend can handle

The Run and Go by lupus is a college AU, and the tags seem to line up with what I remember of this fic: no angst, primarily fluff. I think if there’s any angst it’s related to them pining after each other.

Canon:

Fill My Lungs with Sweetness by starclipped is a post-WS fic, and WS!Bucky just sort of comes with a warning, you know? I don’t think it has any bearing on the majority of the fic, though, but it’s been a while since I first read this one and I can’t be 100% certain. It’s fluffy and domestic and it’s Christmas, but sometimes people sneak in some angst without tagging it because they don’t consider it necessary, so.

Once Upon Some Bullshit by machine_dove and Sproings features WS!Bucky having to deal with the aftermath of an encounter with Enchantress -- which in this case is a Steve that keeps transforming into animals. I don’t think either of them end up seriously injured or anything similar in this fic. Bucky is, obviously. frustrated and worried about Steve, but. Like I said, it’s been a while.

...Christ, I really thought I had more that fit the criteria here. Canon is... mostly angst, and that’s becoming really apparent to me right now. I’m sorry if this isn’t the most helpful rec list, especially because I seem to be relying so much on memory.

Also, I’m posting this publically because I figured other people might benefit from a list like this, and because I’m asking if anyone else has suggestions, but if you’d prefer I take it down and send you the list privately, I can absolutely do that.

General Discussion: All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Part 2

This is a part 2 of a recent dump of stuff I’m talking about in regards to AEW, if you want to see my critiques and comments in hindsight about AEW Check it out on part 1 -> Here Part 2 is gonna revolve around the future, immediate and long-term, starting with the upcoming All Out PPV

All Out 2020

Criticisms about the Buy In aside, All Out still looks like a heavily stacked card, which is always a positive. I do worry a little that the Tooth and Nail match’s addition will cut into others’ time so hopefully everyone gets a good amount, but if people criticise some matches for being too short remember that fan demand insisted that the same Swole/Baker match be on the paid card rather than having a lot of time to show it for free. And as much as people criticise AEW’s women, the women’s matches are among the top 5 most anticipated matches on the card, probably only behind the tag title and world title match, isn’t that a great thing? Not to mention that the women’s title match encourages AEW/NWA relations, which really would make wrestling better if wrestlers could be more fluid in their appearances. But anyway, All Out is something I look forward to, so let’s break down some predictions? (if you’re wondering why I’m not just doing this on a podcast or something, my voice is not the dulcet flowing river of articulation my writing would imply to be, I like having time and proofing my words, plus if I talk to much my tongue swells and I stutter, stammer and suck at eye contact) So my thoughts for the full card

Predictions

The Buy In

Casino Battle Royale - Eddie Kingston. While I’d be down for Fénix, Pentagon, Archer or even a new or returning face like PAC to win, I think Kingston is the safe bet. The man talks like liquid and his match with Cody brought a lot of eyes to the product. This will continue and start new hostilities, but don’t expect anyone who has faced Moxley before to win, AEW don’t do title rematches so much.

Private Party vs Dark Order (Silver and Reynolds) - this quickly put-together match is going to Private Party, because Silver and Reynolds are enhancement tag teams still, they can win but they won’t win often. Plus the more Silver loses the more bits he’ll have with Brodie on BTE and those are gold.

Main Card

Tooth and Nail - Britt Baker, I expect the cinematic match to have shenanigans but also protect Baker in the midst of her injury recovery. While Swole has been doing the physical lifting of the feud I think having Britt lose on her return could be the wrong choice in the long run.

Dark Order vs The Nightmare Family - Dark Order, Brodie has elevated the tag team to the point where they are a big faction, and they need the big win for this. Cardona, Sky and the Natural Nightmares can take this loss too, but I’d expect QT or Dustin to take the fall for this. Bonus prediction that Tay Conti will indeed join the Dark Order with Anna Jay, leading to them beating down Brandi and Allie at ringside (setting up a women’s tag feud that’d explain why they were kept on other sides of the Deadly Draw bracket)

The Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express - This one I have Jurassic Express, it may be an upset because the Bucks are still reeling from Hangman’s betrayal, this can also lead to the Bucks being more heelish to accompany a Cleaner Kenny Omega. Keep your eye on Jungle Boy, AEW are still hot on him for good reason, this’ll be a huge scalping for Jurassic Express if they pull it off.

Broken Rules - A tough one, but I’m gonna stick with the Multifarious Matt Hardy. I don’t think he wants to end his career just yet and AEW would be foolish to let him go. Plus technically Sami is 2-0 in this feud, so it won’t hurt Sami too much to win in Hardy’s wheelhouse.

Mimosa Mayhem - Another tough one to put down the middle, I am gonna go with Orange Cassidy though. I think Jericho wants to amend the sloppy finish Cassidy’s win had and this’ll make for good comedy to see Jericho (and maybe Hager) flailing around in Mimosa

Women’s Title - I will be happy with either winning, but my heart says Shida. Mainly because I think Britt is the one who should take it from her, their last match was a banger after all. Rosa won’t look weak though, they may even have Shida challenge for the NWA women’s title down the line.

Tag Titles - FTR. That’s it, that’s all you need to know. Hangman’s head is out of the game and Kenny is becoming the Cleaner, it’s time for this schism to start properly, they’ve held it for about a year as well, it’s time.

World Title (Moxley cannot use Paradigm Shift) - It’s easy to say MJF, he is the home breed future and Moxley has had a long run defeating tougher opponents, but I am thinking that Moxley will retain. This is mainly because the odds are so stacked against him, he’ll eke out a win despite MJF’s trickery. The challenger will look fantastic to prove that he will be champion some day, but not today. Instead I think MJF will be thwarted by miscommunication, and as he hinted at during his tag match with Jurassic Express, will split from Wardlow for his ‘fatal error’. Then we’ll get Moxley vs Kingston which can be just as fantastic.

Looking to the Future So ‘looking to the future’ is not gonna all be direct consequences of All Out, some of it is just stuff I’d like to see happen, not all of it has to and my enjoyment isn’t killed from it, but certain things would make AEW better in my opinion. Business Relations So of course it’d be great to have more working relationships with other brands, AEW is already close to OWE and AAA, getting NWA on board would be a good step to establishing good relationships with ROH as well, maybe even NJPW. On the women’s side it’d be nice if they made more solid ties with Cyberfight - which has DDT Pro, TJPW and NOAH, maybe even Stardom, Sendai Girls, EVE and Ice Ribbon. More relationships would offer wrestlers not working Dynamite or Dark to perhaps represent elsewhere. In this representing it’d be great to see more outside titles being shown, it’s free advertising really. Thunder Rosa will for sure be carrying her NWA Women’s title but wouldn’t it be cool if other brand titles could be carried; Kenny carrying his AAA title with the tag titles, Cardona his Internet title, Lucha Bros their HOG and AAA Tag titles, Big Swole her Phoenix of Rise title, Moxley his NJPW US title (though I expect him to lose to KENTA soon), Rosa’s TJPW International Princess title as well and Yuka Sakazaki’s TJPW Princess of Princess Title. It may be me but seeing these titles does add an air of legitimacy to the competitors, showing how successful they are overseas while promoting other promotions. I’d also like to pitch a ‘Locked Down’ mini show or segment where AEW could show what their international talent is doing, Emi Sakura’s ChocoPro could be a light hearted segment, PAC could do some solid promos and like showing the titles, it’d expose the roster as talented. New Signings Someone just has to do good to have people ask for AEW to sign them, but in some cases it would be cool to sign them up. Of the frequent flyers right now AEW would be mad not to sign Ivelisse and Diamante, and I’ve already expressed my hopes that they sign Will Hobbs, Serpentico, Shawn Dean, Brian Pillman Jr, Kilynn King, Tay Conti, Veda Scott, Nicole Savoy/Lil’ Swole and Pineapple Pete, but it’d also be good business to at least call up Renee Paquette/Good/Young and Mauro Ranallo, even if it is for some guest appearances. Signing the likes of Danhausen, Warhorse, ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Millie McKenzie, Laura Di Matteo, Lana Austin, Jamie Hayter, Chris Brookes, Maki Itoh, Miyu Yamashita, Mirio (if he wants to come back into wrestling) and AR Fox. This being said, this should only ease into the Second Show, where we can expose more of the current roster as well. Speaking of Which. (A Few) New Accolades With a bigger division will require more competition. Not all of them need to be titles but something to be fought for. MJF’s Diamond Ring and Cage’s FTW title can help in that matter, but I think a Trios Accolade would be next in line for AEW. This would open the door for more teams to compete; The Elite, Jurassic Express, Best Friends, SCU, Dark Order, Nightmare Family, Death Triangle etc. would still keep it competitive and open the door for more stories of faction warfare. Since this is only my thoughts I would love to see the tag division be intergender too but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. If we do move to this though PLEASE use whoever designed the world and tag belt, not the TNT belt. Faction Bolstering AEW are looking at the NJPW formula or big factions going into war or tensions with one another, which is good since it does make for lines to be written in the sand. But I think the factions can just be a little bit bigger in some places, and some are easy to add in already. Conti joins Dark Order for 2 women there, have Ivelisse and Diamante join the Inner Circle so we have full LAX (plus Ivelisse tagged with Sammy in LU), Statlander can pair with Best Friends and renew BTE’s skits of her and Orange Cassidy’s palpable sexual tension, I would also enjoy the thought of TH2 joining with Kip and Penelope just to be a faction of talented arseholes. May be the crass side of me, but I also seem to want Brian Pillman Jr to join the Gunn Club simply so we can have an entrance theme that starts ‘Someone call 911, Pillman’s got a Gunn’, Vickie Guerrero could grow her managing of Nyla to an all women ‘Las Guerreras’ faction maybe with Kilynn King, Shaul Guerrero, Abadon or someone else would be a decent move in my books but an exciting faction I can see clearly is a Moxley faction with Darby Allin and Lance Archer. Imagine having Jake the Snake taking care of all that, oh yes is that the good stuff. Future Feuds We’ll end with talking about some feuds I hope to see down the line too, even if they’re not set up already. I’ve already expressed my want for Kingston vs Moxley but another Kingston feud I see in the making is against PAC, Kingston is the man with the plan but PAC will want his Death Triangle buddies back. Speaking of, Moxley could use some bangers with Fenix and Pentagon, both are megastars. While the tag division is looking like it’ll lead to FTR vs Bucks, I think the bigger money is FTR vs Bucks vs Hangman and Kenny first, with Kenny having the Elite ties and Hangman with the FTR ties the storytelling would be ridiculously immense. This thought almost made me pick Hangman and Kenny to win at All Out...almost. I would expect a lot of title defenses from Mr. Brodie Lee, particularly from Cardona but I’d love it if Jungle Boy was the one to win it from him, and for JB to face Sammy Guevara, of the 4 Young Prospects of AEW I don’t think Sammy and JB have gone 1-on-1, could be wrong but Sammy usually went for Darby and JB to MJF, Fénix vs JB would be excellent also. Luchasaurus is also due his hoss match with the Butcher, as well as further conflict with Cage and Archer Also I’d like Shida vs Conti, both are very martial arts-like in their wrestling especially the latter so it would be a good physical match. But yeah, that’s out of my system for now, we’ve talked some good, some bad and some middle, don’t think it matters to anyone but I’ve said my piece Bring on All Out!

The Golds invite the Charmings over to dinner and, of course, things do not go as planned.

Sequel to Game Night Gamble , and part of the Never Unwanted series. Not quite a Thanksgiving fic but I try :p

Age of the kids: Gideon (22), Neal (23-ish), Dante (around 8)

Gideon released a nervous whistle as he added the final touches on his outfit. After two hours of tossing garments around he’d finally decided on a decent look. He frowned however at his hair. He need a cut, and the boyish locks made him look like he was going to a church service rather than a dinner with his possibly-soon-to-be-boyfriend and his parents.

He added a bit of gel, glaring at his shaking hands in the mirror. It was just Neal for gosh sakes! Nothing had changed between them really. They were still best friends…just friends who found each other attractive and had a knack for kissing that one time.

Son of a bitch he was screwed.

Just as he pulled his fingers from his hair, his cellphone buzzed. He glanced down and saw that it was from the three-way message he, Robyn, and Neal had started long ago.

He swiped and read the message from Robyn.

Ready for tonight boys 😉

Gideon rolled his eyes and carefully texted a response. He wanted to be careful in case Neal read it.

Yep…nervous. Just a bit 0-o

Admitting his fears helped unravel the knot in his stomach. Barely a second later came a response. Gideon expected to see Robyn’s name on the tag but was surprised to see Neal’s.

Everything’s going to be fine. No matter what happens, I still want to be with you.

Gideon grinned, feeling silly with his warm face. His cellphone went off again with an additional message from Neal.

Is it too early to start calling you babe? Do dudes even call each other babe?

Before Gideon could respond Robyn broke in.

DON’T KNOW DON’T CARE YA’LL BABES TONIGHT!!! XDDDDD

Gideon flinched at the overuse of caps. For the first time he was glad Robyn had turned down his invitation to “chaperone” tonight’s dinner (mainly because it would mean bringing her mother and the last thing he needed was for her and his father to start a battle).

A quiet knock on the door pulled him from his musings. He found his sister standing there, looking smaller and very unlike her usually peppy self.

“Geez Dee, why so…glum?” Gideon shrugged.

“Shove your lack of rhymes.” Dante muttered, flopping down at the end of bed, her hands flinching similarly the way their father’s did when he was nervous.

“Grumpy grumpy,” Gideon cornered, looking away to select a tie. “Not that I don’t always enjoy the invasion of privacy, but is there something you needed?”

Dante fidgeted a bit before she squared her shoulders.

“Gid, I don’t think we should have this dinner.”

Gideon paused at his sister’s declaration. Just that morning she had been teasing him over waffles, asking questions about his and Neal’s first kiss and what they were planning for a first date. Knowing that there were two additional pairs of ears listening, he answered his little sister with a wink and had given her a ride to school.

“Why?” Gideon asked simply. Dante had never been clingy with his attention, why would she start now?

“It’s just…” Dante paused to think. “You can do so much better with possible in-laws. You were laugh-crying in the shower this morning. Do you really want to do that for the rest of your life?”

Gideon snorted and turned back to decide on the tie. “We’re not even dating yet. Besides, you like Neal.”

“As much as I like you.” Dante snorted, though her fidgeting did not cease.

“Did something happen?” Gideon pushed. Usually, he’d be the best big brother in the world and converse all night with his sister, but tonight he had to decide on a tie and act like perfect boyfriend material for the Nolan’s.

Dante paused, watching her brother as he tried to decide between a blue or red tie. She couldn’t tell him, not when he was trying so hard to be better than what most people thought he was.

What they both were.

She stood quietly and prepared to leave him in peace. She had already promised her mother she’d set the table, “with the good china” as she had requested.

The youngest Gold spared a glance over her shoulder at her nervous brother. Tonight was his night, and she was utterly terrified for him.

“The red one.” She muttered, crossing her arms tightly around her center before heading downstairs.

Belle chewed her lip as she put the final touches on her potato salad. She had closed the library early so that she could come home and prepare for dinner with the Charming’s and the rest of her family was doing their parts. Rumple was on the patio getting the grill heated up while Gideon was changing his clothes yet again.

“Anything you choose will look great sweetie,” Belle laughed earlier as she watched her son tried to choose between three different plaid shirts.

“It’s not Neal I’m trying to look good for,” Gideon said absently as he looked back and forth between belt buckles.

“You’re not dating his parents,” Belle had said. “Everything’s…” Belle stopped. Saying everything would be fine would only make things more stressful. It was better to let her son stress now so that he’d be more relaxed at dinner.

She was taking her own advice now and all but pulling her hair out. She hosted dinner parties before, so why was this one particularly nerve-wracking?

“Because the Charming’s aren’t just acquaintances any longer, their possible in-laws.” Rumple responded when Belle asked him the exact question. He was marinating the steaks and wearing a pink apron that was too ridiculous to be worn during such a serious conversation.

Belle glanced upstairs before she moved closer to her husband. “It’s a bit…early to talk like that isn’t it?”

Rumple gave her a small smile and a shrug. “They’ve been friends since infancy. Anything’s possible.”

Belle sighed and took another sip of the wine Rumple had poured for her. It was pleasant to hear her husband think so positively about the future. For so long they had just lived day by day, waiting for catastrophes to arise. Thinking any farther than next week was dangerous.

She glanced at the clock on the oven and felt her stomach turn. The Nolan’s were due at their home in 15 minutes.

She glanced out into the dining room where her usually quiet daughter was slowly setting the table. She’d been there for ten minutes and only had two plates down.

Belle wanted to be irritated, but her maternal instincts would often outweigh her aggressive ones. There were some perks to being married to an infuriating man like the Dark One after all. She laid down her knife and walked over to the table, leaning against the glossy wood.

“You’re rather distracted tonight, Dante Colette.” Her mother said with a teasing air.

The youngest Gold looked at her mother, her eyes faltering as she fidgeted with a knife.

“Mom,” Dante began, too quietly and too unlike herself. “If you knew something bad was going to happen, and that there was nothing you could do to prevent it, would you still let it happen?”

Belle mused on the odd question, searching for a way to answer it.

“There was a time when I sensed your father was going bad.” Belle stated. “Right after your older brother passed away, your father went through a dark phase. He was obsessed with gaining more power so that he would never be powerless again.”

Dante sat down, intrigued. “What did you do?”

Her mother was quiet for a moment, her eyes downcast.

“I turned him away.” Belle admitted. “I set him into the world completely powerless because I was so angry at him, and I’ve regretted it since.”

Dante gulped, a coldness setting into her bones.

“I felt like something was wrong with your father but I chose to ignore it. I wanted him to be the man he was before Baelfire’s death. I thought after enough time he would be again. Ignoring the problem cost your father the help he needed., and both of us precious time.”

They both looked up when they heard the door in the kitchen open, indicating that Rumplestiltskin was coming back in from lighting the grill.

“My point, honey, is that it’s important to follow your heart. Is there something you’d like to tell me?”

Dante gulped and glanced up the stairs where she could hear the muffled sounds of Gideon’s anxious footsteps.

“I…well…”

Before Dante could answer, the doorbell resounded through the house and a cry from Gideon followed.

“Oh my gods their here!” Gideon screamed from upstairs. A moment later he came bounding down, his hands pulling at the soft tie around his neck. “Get this thing off me it was a stupid idea!”

“Son for goodness sake stop before you choke yourself.” Rumplestiltskin sighed, pulling his nervous son to the living room to help him calm down.

Belle made a sharp glance at the door and then back to her daughter. She didn’t want to force her daughter into a decision, but time was of the essence.

“Sweetie?” Belle nudged with a gentle smile.

Dante closed her eyes for a long moment before taking her mother’s hand, letting her pull her up.

“That’s my brave girl.” Belle smiled.

“It follows, right.” Dante shrugged, shoving her hands in her pockets as her mother went to answer the door.

“We were…a bit surprised when you invited us over.” David admitted to Rumplestiltskin as he turned a steak over on the grill.

Rumplestiltskin took a sip of the wine the Charming’s had brought, thankful the majority of the guests were of drinking age. A drink on all their parts could help tonight run a bit more smoothly, though he doubted things would get heated. The Charmings were open-minded people and had one of the grandest love stories to ever be written. Love came in all forms, surely, they’d understand that when it came to Neal and Gideon.

“It was Belle’s idea.” Rumple said, realizing how rude he must have sounded the moment the words left his mouth.

David however chuckled good-naturedly, his over-expansive sense of humor saving them both from an awkward conversation.

“Neal seemed a bit nervous about coming over.” David added, keeping his eyes on the grill.

Rumplestiltskin blinked and studied the Charming clan patriarch.

“Is that so?”

Charming nodded, a secret smile spreading from the corner of his mouth.

“I figured he’d be…nervous…eventually. I’m not too surprised, I just thought it would happen sooner…the nervousness I mean.”

Rumple tried not to roll his eyes at the allusion David was trying to set.

“And did your wife notice the “nervousness”?”

David’s smile dimmed, but just slightly.

“Um, no, I don’t think so. She’s been a bit preoccupied over Emma lately.”

Rumplestiltskin nodded sympathetically. Emma had been traveling the realms with Killian since just after Neal’s second birthday. Over the years her visits home had become sparse, and in the last year the only form of communication she had with her family was a few salt-crusted letters detailing her adventures and how happy she was.

Rumple tried not to judge her decision, but it seemed a bit odd to him that a young woman who wanted a family for so long would uproot herself from them for a man, especially if that man was Killian Jones.

He knew he was hardly one to judge, but he also knew that there was still some vileness in the pirate’s soul, even if he had made a few altercations. It left a sour taste in his mouth to have to acknowledge him as extended family. However, Killian was the Charming’s pill to swallow, not his.

“I wish she could be here right now.” David said, revealing his grief. “For her brother.”

The Dark One nodded. “I’m sorry. I’m sure you can catch her up when she comes home.”

David paused for a moment before nodding. “Yeah…right. You’re right. She’ll be home soon.”

Rumplestiltskin’s heart clenched for the man. David sounded so unconvinced at his own words.

He hoped Belle was having a better time with Snow White.

“And this is them in the Caribbean!” Snow shrilled, scrolling to yet another photo of her daughter and Killian.

Belle smiled out of politeness, but there was something about Snow White’s overly happy personality that made her skin prickle. She looked over at her daughter who was holding her head as if it was about to explode. Though Snow White had yet to notice, Belle still motioned for her daughter to sit up.

Dante did sit up, but then she stood and walked into the living room where her brother and possibly-soon-to-be boyfriend were. Maybe now she could tell them both what she knew, save this night before it even started.

However, when her eyes landed on her brother and Neal, she did not reveal her tragic secret, but instead watched in awe at the spectacle before her.

Gideon and Neal were sitting a respectable distance from each other on the couch—the kind of distance two young men who had known each other all their lives would sit on any other night. But there was a static-like magic between them. It spread through Gideon’s arm as he wrapped it around the back of the couch, a breath away from Neal’s shoulders. It was in Neal’s fingertips as he unintentionally grazed Gideon’s thigh as they turned up the television to block out Mrs. Nolan’s animated talking.

“Man.” Dante cursed. Darn her brother and unofficial brother for having such natural chemistry! How could she take such a thing away from them?

“The steaks are cooked great, dear.” Belle commented, winking at her husband. “New marinade?”

“Yes,” Rumple smiled, “David’s cooking skills should be given the credit. For the life of me I can never remember the difference between a well and a well-done.”

The adults at the table chuckled good-naturedly while the one minor at the table struggled to keep her fork steady.

“Everything’s fine.” She said to herself. “Everyone’s in a good mood. Just keep it up, it won’t happen. They’ll be fine. Everything will be fine.”

“You know, we were surprised you invited us over.” Snow spoke up as she dabbed her mouth with a napkin. “It’s been so long since we’ve really set foot in your home.”

It was on the tip of Rumple’s tongue to remind her former majesty that the only times she had set foot in his home at all was to demand help from him or to pick up and drop off her son. However, this was Gideon and Neal’s night, and he would rather bite his own tongue off than ruin it for them.

Belle glanced at Neal and Gideon. She noticed that one of each of their hands were under the table, holding and comforting each other. Gideon met her eyes and gave a small nod.

From the end of the table, Dante whimpered. It was happening.

“Actually, mom,” Neal spoke, sitting up straighter in his chair. “Dinner was our idea. We have something we want to tell you.”

David hid his grin behind his clutched hands, sending a knowing look Gold’s way.

“Oh, is it another play?” Snow inquired. Gideon had started writing plays during college and often recruited Neal and Robyn to help him with them.

“Not exactly.” Gideon relayed, his fingers tapping nervously against his wine glass. Under the table, Neal caressed his thigh to help him relax.

Belle glanced at her husband who winked at her, his smile fading a bit when he turned to Dante. She was tense in her chair as she stared at her brother and Neal.

“Mom, Dad,” Neal breathed, Gideon’s firm grip in his hand giving him a dose of courage he needed. “Gideon and I are…together. Romantically. Emotionally. Sometimes spiritually.”

“Oh my God, Neal.” Gideon groaned as he struggled not to laugh. And he thought he had been nervous when he told his parents.

“Well how about that!” David smiled, trying to act like he hadn’t had a hunch all along. “This is great! Isn’t this great, Snow?”

Belle looked over at the Charming clan matriarch and paled. She was tense in her chair, staring at her son and—now officially—his boyfriend.

“I��what…” Snow blinked, standing from her chair, her eyebrows drawn down in confusion. “No…no absolutely not!”

Belle and Rumplestiltskin exchanged concern looks with their son, and David’s gleeful smile faded at his wife’s outburst.

“No no no…” Dante cried under her breath.

“Snow…” David said after he cleared his throat nervously. “This…” he motioned to their petrified son and Gideon. “Is not a problem. This is our son. Him and Gideon, it doesn’t change anything.”

Snow stepped away from the table, pressing her temples as he dodged her husband’s comforting hands.

“He likes boys, Snow. He likes Gideon.” David tried to sooth calmly. “There’s nothing—"

“I don’t care if he’s gay, David!” Snow exclaimed. “I don’t care what he is!”

“Then why are you—”

“Because I don’t understand why…” Snow looked around the room until her eyes landed on Rumplestiltskin, who met her piercing gaze with one of his own. “Why him?” she wailed, gesturing to the Dark One. “Why did it have to be his son?”

A tense followed Snow White’s outburst, the parties in the room unsure just how to react. It wasn’t until Dante jumped out of her chair and fled from the room with a muffled sob that everyone’s minds began reeling once more.

“Mom!” Neal exclaimed, jumping from his chair. “That is not fair!”

“It doesn’t matter if it’s fair!” Snow yelled, pulling from her husband’s grip. “It matters that it’s true! I have spent too long fighting the darkness for my only son to fall into its trap!”

“Fighting the darkness?” Rumplestiltskin growled, standing from his chair. “You call forcing your daughter’s darkness into another child so that you wouldn’t have to deal with it fighting?”

“I did what was necessary to protect my daughter!” Snow fought.

“And you did so well. How long was Emma the Dark One again?”

“Both of you stop!” Belle exclaimed, creating a very temporary and much needed silence. She and David exchanged looks, two parents who had no hard feelings against each other but had to keep their respective, much more hot-blooded spouses at bay.

“Rumple, go check on our daughter.” Belle ordered softly. She could see the dark magic radiating off him. No one, not even his son’s boyfriend’s mother, was safe from his wrath when his child was threatened.

“Actually Belle, you should go check on her.” Rumplestiltskin said, his eyes locked on the former princess. “After all, Snow White’s issue is with the Dark One.”

“No, father,” Gideon spoke up, standing from his chair and yet seeming much smaller. “Her issue is me.”

Snow White shifted awkwardly before giving the younger man an appraising look.

“Mrs. Nolan,” Gideon proclaimed as steadily as he could. “I…care about Neal very much.” He looked to the young man, who returned his weak smile despite the anger in his eyes. “I always have.”

Snow’s eyes lowered, either in guilt or acceptance Gideon couldn’t tell.

“I promise you that as long as he’ll have me, I’ll be the best person I can be with him.”

Neal watched Gideon, who only a few months ago had been his best friend, his brother and confidant. There had never been a moment when Neal had doubted him, or when Gideon felt like anything but kinship and acceptance from him.

“I’m sorry, Gideon.” Snow White spoke, her spine straight and her voice as apologetic as it had been sincere. “That’s not enough for me.”

“This isn’t about you, Snow, or any of us for that matter.” Belle spoke up. “This is about them, and their lives and decisions. We have to support them no matter what.”

Snow White turned to Belle, her eyes hard and unforgiving. Belle wondered what happened to the woman who had comforted her moments after Hook had shot her, who held her as she grieved for Baelfire and consoled her during Gideon’s ultrasound. Those days seemed so long ago, and the woman before her seemed so foreign, so gone. Her once brave smile didn’t quite reach her eyes and her hands shook and fidgeted on her hips as she damned the relationship before her.

“You might not mind enabling your child’s darkness, but I refuse to let mine go down that path.”

“You should have thought about that before you pushed your daughter into the arms of that pirate.” Rumplestiltskin snarked, satisfied when Snow shot around to him instead of his wife.

“Excuse you!”

“You let her marry a man who made her put him above her family. Her son. You’re grandson.”

“She had a dark curse in her! You’re curse!”

“As did Hook, but it wasn’t until it was made known to him that he acted on his dark impulses. It’s almost as if he used the curse as an excuse for the horrible things he did to all of you.”

“Rumple…” Belle growled in warning.

“And what of now?” Rumple continued. “Where is your daughter on such an important night? Why isn’t she and your “son-in-law” here celebrating this occasion?”

“Dad…” Gideon gasped weakly.

“There’s nothing to celebrate!” Snow yelled, her face red.

“Snow please…” David begged as he held her back from charging at the Dark One, his own eyes filled with grief, for once unable to settle the peace among his friends and family.

“I know what’s best for him! I’m his mother!” Snow continued to shout.

Neal covered his mouth as rage and frustration threatened to boil over inside him.

Rumplestiltskin tilted his head, purposely avoiding Belle’s desperate gaze.

“Belle has been more of a mother to Neal than you ever have.”

In a second Snow was out of David’s grip, her body taunt for a fight, to cause the Dark One something equivalent to the pain raging in her chest.

But she barely made it three steps from her husband’s protective hold (not since Emma had taken on the dark curse had he held her so tightly). A golden cocoon of magic had enclosed around her form, freezing every part of her body but her wide eyes.

“Gideon!” Belle exclaimed when she saw the magic bouncing off his outstretched fingers.

Gideon hadn’t been able to stop himself. He had seen Snow White’s hand ready to strike his father’s face and he let his instincts take over. He hadn’t wanted to hurt her—he would never try to hurt someone purposely.

He just wanted her to stop.

Now he was staring into the fearful eyes the woman who could potentially be his mother-in-law (sure he and Neal hadn’t talked long-term, but more than likely they would end up related some sort of way).

“Gideon…” Neal’s soft voice interjected.

Gideon looked up to see Neal staring at him, having up a few painful inches between them. For the first time in the entire duration of their relationship, there was uncertainty in his eyes. The twist it caused in his heart caused Gideon’s harmless spell to seize, releasing Snow White into her husband’s protective hold.

“You see!” Snow gasped. “He’s a monster, Neal! Just like his father!”

“Enough, mom!” Neal growled, torn and losing his ability to keep his temper.

In a blur of golden magic, Gideon disappeared, leaving his shocked parents and boyfriend behind.

The room became wanly quiet, so quiet that the adults in the room could just pick up the sound of the refrigerator humming in the kitchen.

So very quiet that Rumplestiltskin—with his enhanced, magical senses—could just hear the muffled sound of his daughter’s sobs upstairs.

If Belle hadn’t grabbed his hand, he might have done something horrible to the former princess, and traumatized her husband and son in the process.

“Go check on our daughter. Now.” Belle ordered. Her voice was as soft as spiderweb, and just as deadly as the creature that spun it. “I’ll handle this.”

Rumplestiltskin had heard her words, and his heart could have overflown with the anxiety he felt for both his children, but he couldn’t take his eyes off of Snow White.

He’d never liked her, in the Enchanted Forest or in Storybrooke. She was a captious hypocrite, and had her nose so stuck up in the air that birds could misinterpret it as a perch. He had understood her anger and disgust towards him; everyone felt that way. It was the way she treated Belle and his son that had made his skin crawl. He treated them like being in her presence was a privilege. For the sake of Gideon and Neal’s friendship he’d kept his tongue, same as he had with Zelena for Robyn’s sake.

He wouldn’t care what she said to him. Yell at him, spit on him. Fine. But not his family. Never them.

But she had. And he wanted to rip her apart, years of repressed darkness filling his veins and threatening to drown him in one swoop.

Suddenly, Snow White’s face vanished and was replaced with Belle’s. The coolness of her blue eyes soothed the fire in his heart just enough for him to function again

“Go upstairs, check on our daughter.” She repeated. She smiled comfortingly at him, but her lip was trembling. “She needs you.”

Rumple nodded and kept his eyes forward as he made his way upstairs.

As soon as she could no longer hear him, she turned back to her guests. Neal was leaning against the table, his hands gripping the polished wood like his life depended on it. David had put just a bit of space between himself and his wife, his eyes cast on the floor.

Belle stepped up the couple, meeting Snow White’s green eyes as her chin lifted with regal smugness.

“Get out, and don’t ever talk to me or my family again.” Belle commanded softly, her hands curled against her sides.

“Fine with me.” Snow affirmed, stalking to the door. “Come on Neal.”

Neal Nolan slowly lifted his head, revealing to his parents his bloodshot eyes and stiff frown.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” Neal spoke, his voice garbled.

Snow paused, starting at her son in puzzled astonishment.

“What did you say?” she inquired, not necessary in a condescending tone, but more in a tone that a mother gave their child when they had done something wrong and were given the chance to make amends before consequences were given out.

He was nearly a quarter of a century old and his mother still saw him as a child who needed a firm hand.

“I said,” Neal croaked, his voice rising, “what he hell is wrong with you, mother?”

The look is Snow White’s eyes was more than surprise; it was shocked fury.

Behind her David tried to meet Neal’s eyes, to beg him not to add any more fuel to the fire.

Snow crossed her arms tightly over her chest, as if to shield herself from Neal’s spiteful words. “I did not raise my son to speak to me that way.”

“Actually, you did.” Neal scoffed wetly. “After all I’m the son of the great Snow White!” he exclaimed her title with a great embellish, a trait he no doubt had learned from his unofficial godfather. “The bandit! The runaway Princess! The mother who put her daughter in a tree and forced her to grow up alone in an unforgiving world! The same one who let her marry a man she was tearing herself a part for!”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about! She loves Killian!”

Belle and David exchanged a look of uncertainty.

“She might love him, mom, but she was never in love with him!” Neal revolted. “She never had the chance to, because she was damn terrified of losing him! He made her terrified! And you did nothing to help her!”

“That’s not true.”

“You were so obsessed with making up for the time you lost that you abandoned her in the worst way!”

“Enough—”

“You ignored her trauma to amend your own!”

The sound of Snow White’s hand colliding with Neal’s face echoed throughout the house. It wasn’t until the former princess’s hand fell to her side and Neal’s bright cheek came into view that the full weight of what she’d done hit the people in the room.

“Mary Margaret!” David exclaimed, running between his wife and son.

To Neal’s benefit, he had barely flinched at her assault, and his eye were dry from emotion.

“Oh Gods,” Belle gasped.

“Neal…” Snow White cried. “Oh sweetheart, I’m sorry.”

Neal stepped away, not meeting her eyes. “I’m going to look for Gideon.”

“Neal, no,” David begged. “Please wait.”

“I’ll talk to you in the morning, dad.” Neal called out, jogging out the door before his parents could stop him.

Belle stepped around the inconsolable Snow White, knowing if she so much as brushed up against her she wouldn’t be able to restrain herself.

“Let him go, let him think.” Belle whispered to David. “We all need to calm down.”

David nodded, and Belle averted her eyes from the tears going down his face.

“David, I didn’t mean to do that.” Snow White defended.

“I know,” David sighed wetly, keeping his back to her as he stepped down the steps. “You don’t mean to do a lot of things.”

“David, wait, David!” Snow yelled after him as he stalked to the truck, closing himself in and gripping the wheel. To his benefit, he didn’t start the car, didn’t leave his wife behind. Perhaps he did it because he loved her enough not to let her walk home. Or perhaps it was to protect her from the Gold’s.

“This is all your fault.” Snow growled to Belle.

Belle turned to the Charming matriarch, her jaw locked to withhold any grating comments that could further add to the hostility in the air.

“You and your family are always ruining my life!”

“Get out.” Belle hissed, her resolve melting away. “Before I throw you out.”

“I’d love to see you try.” Snow challenged.

Belle stepped up to the former princess, keeping her fists frozen to her side.

“You listen to me, and you listen to me well.” Belle said stiffly. “I have done my best for over twenty years to remain civil with you. To forgive the blackmail and disregard of my family’s safety and feelings. But I see now that sometimes, kindness isn’t enough, because you don’t deserve my kindness, and you haven’t for a long time.”

Belle stepped back to the door, keeping her glare level with Snow White’s. “I recognize that Rumple has done things to your family in the past, and I understand if you may still hold some ill-will, I don’t blame you. But after the countless speeches of second chances and forgiveness, you think you might at least try to follow your own advice, especially considering all the other grudges you’ve let go.”

“I don’t expect someone like you to understand—”

“Someone like me?” Belle exclaimed. “Someone who’s been imprisoned, and beaten and used as blackmail by ‘heroes’ like you!”

Snow’s mouth remained ajar but Belle did not give her the chance to speak.

“I have done nothing but help and sacrifice for you, and all I’ve ever gotten in return is lies and scorn! But I’ve finally learned my lesson. Neal will always be a part of my family, and maybe even David because he’s always tried. As for you, I don’t care to ever speak to you again.”

“You’re being—”

“And as for what Rumple said earlier, he’s right. I have been a mother to Neal. He comes to me when he feels like he can’t go to you, because I don’t expect him to be some grand hero. Because unlike you, I’ve learned from my mistakes.”

Belle held the door open, daring a response from Snow White. “Now get the hell out of my house.”

Snow didn’t move at first, her body taunt with the sting of Belle’s words. Yet, she didn’t try to charge at her like she had the Dark One. Maybe she had taken all her strength out on her son. Maybe she had lost her nerve. Or Maybe she had taken into consideration that she just might not be able to take on the wife on the Dark One.

With her spine straight and her head high, she exited the Gold mansion, the angry breeze from her departure cooling Belle’s cheeks.

The Gold matriarch leaned against the smooth wood, letting the events of the night play back in her head.

Gideon’s rejected face.

Neal’s hate-filled eyes.

Her daughter running to her room in tears.

Belle allowed her self a moment to grieve. Her children needed her tonight and she hadn’t been able to protect them. Now Gideon was gods knows where and her husband and daughter were trying to sort out their own pain upstairs.

Belle wiped her eyes and quickly converged a game plan. She needed to find her son and Neal, help them understand that everything was going to be alright.

The sound of her husband’s distinctive footsteps and Belle met her husband’s eyes over the banister.

“Hey,” he greeted softly. “How’d it go, I heard yelling.”

“I held my own,” Belle sighed. “I’ll relay the details later. Right now, I need to find Gideon.”

“Later,” Rumplestiltskin waved off. “Our daughter needs to tell us something.”

Belle paused. Dante had been acting strange all day and she had not had the chance to reveal why. Belle had failed her first tonight, and not more so.

“Gideon…”

“Is an adult and will be fine while we help our daughter.”

“Just because he’s an adult doesn’t mean he still doesn’t need his parents, Rumple!”

The Dark One paused, taking the blunt of his wife’s outburst. He made his way down, ready to comfort her. When he reached the final step, he saw her chin wobbling and the unshed tears burning her eyes.

“Come here.” He said just as Belle collapsed into his arms.

“Oh Gods Rumple I failed him.” She wailed into his shoulder.”

“No, no sweetheart.” Rumplestiltskin cooed. “You didn’t fail anyone. You did everything you could to make this a good night for Gideon and Neal, it just…didn’t happen. But it’s not your fault.” He pulled back and tilted her chin to meet his eyes. “It is not your fault.”

Belle nodded, sniffling and wiping her eyes.

“I’m sorry for earlier.” Rumplestiltskin apologized as he massaged gentle circles into her shoulders. “I made the situation worse by losing my temper.”

Belle shrugged. “You were defending our son. And I’m glad you did most of the yelling.”

Rumplestiltskin snorted in amusement before intertwining their fingers. “Let’s go talk to Dante, then, if we don’t hear from him, we’ll go find Gideon.”

Belle nodded and let her husband lead her upstairs, sparing a glance at the front door just in case their son decided to make a sudden an appearance.

Dante was curled onto her side, her hoody covering her red face.

Belle’s heart constricted at the sight. Dante never cried. She’d always been the happiest baby, never fussy, never cranky or tantrum-prone. Today had been the most unhinged she’d ever been during the entire eight years of her life.

Belle didn’t like either of children being sad, it was unheard of for her daughter. Something had happened before Snow White’s outburst, and Belle was determined to find out just what it was.

“Sweetie,” Rumplestiltskin cooed, rubbing her arm gently. “Tell your mum what you told me, okay.”

Dante sat up slowly, using her sleeve to wipe her eyes (a habit her parents would normally try to discourage but now was not the time for a lesson in etiquette). She stared at her knees for a moment, trying to find the constant courage that swelled through her.

“I knew it was going to happen,” Dante relayed quietly.

Belle turned to her husband, confused, and he indicated for her to continue listening.

“I saw that Ms. Nolan was going go off on Gideon and Neal…that she was going to hurt them and Papa but…”

Belle tensed when he saw her eyes watering once more.

“I didn’t do anything,” she cried. “I didn’t know what to do.”

Rumple leaned in and pulled his daughter into his arms, caressing her back as he turned to Belle.

“Sweetheart how…” Belle paused, the realization hitting her.

“You saw it…with magic?” Belle gasped, looking over her beautiful little girl who subtlety nodded at her question.

Gideon’s magic had started developing when he was just over three months old, harmless to begin with, more chaotic until he was able to control it a bit more.

Dante’s however never formed. She’d been a completely magicless baby, leaving her parents to believe Gideon’s had lingered from his time as an adult.

It would seem now however that their daughter was a late bloomer with an extraordinary gift.

“When did it…how does it…” Belle tried the find the words to inquire her daughter’s newfound abilities. It had taken a few tries during therapy, but Belle had managed to accept the place magic had in her life. It was a part of her husband, and now part of both of her children.

“Last summer.” Dante sniffled. “During the trip to the beach. I saw turtles crawling on the beach and I knew to bring a camera.”

Belle nodded, having thought the randomness of her daughter’s sudden “need” for a camera amusing at the time.

“Then I saw other things. Pop quizzes in school, when it was going to rain…things like that.”

“Did you foresee Gideon telling us about Neal during family night last week?” Rumplestiltskin questioned with a tilt of his chin.

Dante shrank down. “Maybe.”

Her father chuckled good-naturedly, showing her that there was no ill-will for her little cheat.

“Why didn’t you tell us that you could see into the future?” Belle inquired gently.

Dante shrugged. “I didn’t really think I needed to. Everything was going fine until today.”

Belle looked into her daughter’s downcast eyes, so full of remorse and hurt. She wanted to lay all those feelings on Snow White, but there was something in her form that made Belle know that some of the responsibility for her secret-keeping were on her.

“Is it because of me?” Belle asked calmly, wanting her tone to be open enough for Dante.

The young girl fidgeted. “You…don’t like magic very much.”

Belle closed her eyes, shame seeping into her blood. True, she didn’t like magic most of the time. She’d always tried to make her home a place where it could be practiced safely, especially during Gideon’s phase when Rumple would teach him spells. Yet she had drummed in her family’s head that magic was for emergencies only, and even then, that there was always a better solution.

“Oh sweetheart,” Belle sighed, pulling her daughter close. “I’m so sorry if I ever made you feel like you had to hide parts of yourself from me.” She pulled her back and wiped away a drying tear, taking a moment to admire the mix of her and Rumpelstiltskin’s features on her face.

“You are so special, Dante Colette. I am so proud of who you’re becoming.”

Dante smiled easily and laid her head against her mother's chest.

“Thanks mom.”

Belle held her youngest close to her, feeling her husband’s embrace wrap around them both after a moment.

It would seem that miscommunication was still a problem in the Gold family, and Belle could only blame tonight’s events on her own lack of it with her children. She should have paused this whole night until she figured out what was bothering her daughter. Gideon would have agreed entirely.

She looked at her husband as his grip around them seemed to tighten. His expression was filled with that old guilt. He felt the same as she.

She only hoped her son was faring better.

Neal found Gideon in the clocktower, just as he knew he would be. The dusty space above the library had been their sanctuary for so long. It was one of the very few places that they felt truly safe.

He leaned against the doorframe and watched Gideon curl into himself on the ragged sofa they had hoisted up here when they were twelve (without magic at that).

The young man wasn’t sure just what to say to him to help him feel better. There hadn’t been any harm done, and it was in defense at that.

Honestly though, Neal wasn’t in the mood to give a long-winded speech about hope and redemption. That was his mother’s spiel, and Snow White was the last person he wanted to think about right now. He didn’t want to think at all, really. He rather just…take action.

He sighed loudly, earning Gideon’s attention with a start.

“Hey.” He greeted wetly, wiping his eyes of buried tears. “How’d it…”

Neal shrugged. “The details kind of slipped while I was yelling at my mom. I think your mom sicked her when I left.”

Gideon’s lip twitched in amusement, but he was too upset to joke.

“This was a disaster.”

“It was better than it could have gone,” Neal smirked as he took a seat beside him. “Thanksgivings going to be far more interesting.”

Gideon managed a smile. “Your mom will probably put me and my dad at the kid’s table.”

Neal nudged him. “He’ll flick peas at her the whole night.”

Gideon laughed, breaking the tension in his chest. Neal, even when he didn’t mean to, always said the right things. That was the highlight of why Gideon had fallen for him.

“In all seriousness,” Gideon said, leaning closer to Neal’s side. “I am sorry. I wanted this to be a great night for you…for us.”

“It was.” Neal agreed. “Your family’s fine with us, and so is my dad. My mom can either deal or back out.”

Gideon hesitated before slipping his fingers between Neal’s. “So we’re…okay?”

Neal arched a brow, lifting their fingers to his lips. “As okay as we’ve ever been.”

Gideon smiled thankfully, his eyes glowing with appreciation for Neal. He wondered if it would be too forward to lean in and kiss him after all that had happened tonight.

As he pondered the thought, he noticed that Neal’s cheek looked much redder than the other.

“What happened?” he gasped.

Neal’s expression changed at the inquiry, and he leaned in and kissed Gideon hard, much harder than the younger man would have considering after all they’d been through that night.

Gideon’s heartrate began to increase as Neal’s hand ran down his chest, his fingers running down the red, silky material of his tie.

“I like this color.” Neal husked against Gideon’s ear.

Before Gideon could comment (and thank Dante for her good taste), Neal began loosening the tie and dragging it away from his neck.

The pleasure slowly flowing through Gideon’s veins suddenly froze. While this place held a lot of fun memories for them, it was the last place Gideon wanted their first time to be.

“Neal…hang on just—” he yelped when Neal suddenly pit into his pulse point. When and how he had learned that he would never know.

Neal did pull back at the sound, staring down at Gideon with glaze eyes.

“Is this okay?”

Gideon gulped, trying to muster the words that would convince Neal to either continue or wait. He’d wanted to share his feelings with him for so long but the more physical aspects had been buried in the back of his mind. He’d never been interested in sex, and the idea of it with Neal had just barely grazed his mind.

But feeling his fingers pressing into his shoulders, his eyes cloudy with excitement and another emotion couldn’t quite place, Gideon couldn’t find the will to say no. They would have time to discuss the handprint on his cheek and anything else they needed to in the morning. There would time for everything.

Until then, Gideon nodded his consent and breathed deeply as Neal continued his advancements once more.

What do you mean your lesbian and gay identity? You can be mlm and wlw at the same time, but you can’t be lesbian and gay at the same time?

I’m mesque, which means that I’m a m-spec lesbian and a m-spec gay, I’m also nonbinary, and my attraction to women and fem-aligned enbies is felt when I’m more neutral/fem-adjacent, and my attraction to men and masc-aligned enbies is felt when I’m more boy-aligned. I think you’re probably going off the “lesbian is only attraction to women/nonbinary people” definition, when I go by the original definition that doesn’t care if you’re attracted to men or not, if you’re attracted to women (and are not exclusively a man), you can use the term lesbian to describe yourself (and same with the definition for gay).

Tldr: you can be lesbian and gay at the same time, because it isn’t exclusive to one group (ex. lesbian = only women and enby), but just says you are (mainly) attracted to that group

I had a collision a few weeks before and it is classified as collision damage. I received an estimate at a body shop who initially provided an estimate of $xxxxx/- and said that the insurance company has agreed to pay them and a delivery date was given. Now, things have changed in the middle and the body shop manager tells me a new stories of additional things that went wrong due to collision (all of a sudden) and that the insurance agent after inspection wants to call it a total loss based on this new estimate. My insurance company- State farm wants it to call a total loss which I doubt given the extent of repair it might take for the minor damage in the front fender alone. Now, here are my questions. I now have suspicion on the integrity of the body shop as well the trick palyed in declaring total loss. 1. Can I have a second opinion at a different body shop? Does State farm allow that? 2. If the repair cost is more than the ACV, and if I still wish to keep the car, can I negotiate for the max amount less deductible that State farm is willing to pay the body shop (xx% of the max amount that state farm is willing to pay before declaring total loss) and I take care of the remaining cost? My last stint as a GUEST GRAP CLAPPER was a few weeks ago when I told you about my trip to 3CW; you can read all about that one (as well as a bit of background on myself) here: https://grapsandclaps.tumblr.com/post/165973966028/graps-and-claps-does-guest-blogs-the-755-show. This return edition will focus on my recent visit to True Grit Wrestling, held at Fibber’s in York last Saturday (21 October 2017). This was my 59th live wrestling show of 2017, with the big 6-0 coming the following night in Leeds at TIDAL Wrestling (which I’m sure your regular #GrapsAndClaps host Andy will be along to tell you all about shortly). This one wasn’t really an “away day” for me: it was the local-est of local graps, taking place a mere 10 minute walk from my front door. Thanks to Storm Brian, however, that brief walk was cold, wet, windy and rather unpleasant, though did give me chance to consider whether “Brian Storm” would be a good wrestler name (I concluded that no, it would not…). The venue itself, Fibbers, is a noted live music spot in York. I used to come to this building years ago when it was ‘Toffs’ nightclub. It’s since been ‘Tokyo’ and ‘Tru’, and as of a couple of years ago now plays host Fibbers at the back, York’s Barvarian-styled Bierkeller at the front and a, erm, “gentleman’s club” club upstairs. While regular readers of this blog will be horrified, the local nature of this show meant that I hadn’t planned on visiting any of the local drinking establishments beforehand. Given the inclement weather, though, there was no chance of me queuing outside so I popped into the aforementioned Bierkeller to dry out and wet one’s whistle. In true bierkeller fashion, they offer a variety of German beers served as either pints or steins. I was tempted by the Warsteiner, but settled on the Lowenbrau at a reasonable £4.40 a pint. Wunderbar. As for True Grit Wrestling, they originally started running shows in Leeds nightclubs in 2014, then moved to Wakefield for a single event, before stopping altogether when that venue became unavailable. Those original shows were effectively the “big grown up sister” events to West Yorkshire-based GRAPPLE Wrestling, very strong on in-ring action and featuring many of the top names in northern BritWres. GRAPPLE itself has been running Fibbers for over a year now, with the shows there recently rebranding under the returning True Grit banner. As a university city, they’d put effort into marketing the show to students and it paid off, with the biggest crowd I have seen packed into that venue (150, I’d say), mainly young adults treating it as a night out. It’s an ‘intimate’ setting for wrestling, with the all-standing crowd gathered looking down on the ring, which is set low down in a pit (the ‘dancefloor’). The room and set-up doesn’t offer great sight lines unless you manage to get to the front of the standing areas (as a gig venue, it’s mainly intended for everyone to see the stage, not low on the floor), so it’s worth getting there a little early if you can. I was lucky enough to get a decent vantage point (though next to the constant dripping of the leaking roof…), but with the strong attendance on this occasion there were plenty that were struggling to see. Inside waiting for the show to begin, we were treated to a soundtrack of WWE themes both old and current, including Seth Rollins, Sheamus, Kane, AJ Styles (that had people singing along!), Evolution, Los Guerreros, Ember Moon, Sanity and more. There was chance to go to the bar, which has everything from your usual draft lagers to an impressive selection of bottled real ales and canned craft beers. I started on the Goose IPA at £4.80 a pint (“One!” “Two!” “GOOSE!” No.), before later moving onto Becks Vier (£3.90) until it ran out halfway through the show, pushing me onto the Stella Artois (also £3.90). The show itself opened with ring announcer Ricc “Dombrowski” (the name being a spoof on the former 1PW commentator) introducing Danny O’Doherty as the “host” for the show. He was really good in this role, drinking beer, engaging with the audience, chipping in with comments before each match and leading chants during them. He set the tone for the show as being a fun night out and encouraged people to get involved. Good stuff. The first match saw The Evil Within (Sean Only & BA Rose) retain their GRAPPLE Tag Team Championship (or, to quote what is hilariously misspelt on the rather-crap-looking title belts, the “CHAMPIONATOS DE PAREJAS”…) over ‘Amazing’ Matt Myers and Ace Matthews. The match was good, with Evil Within beating down their opponents and Myers & Matthews making spirited comebacks. Rose reminds me of a mini Dave Mastiff, not only in the looks department but also with much of his offence (back sentons and cannonballs). It was Only that scored the fall, though, pinning Ace after a curb stomp. The next match started off as a friendly bout between popular fan favourites the “Bhangra Bad Boy” Amir Jordan and “Hot-Blooded” Dom Black. Black is pushed as “York’s Own”, and he did have his vocal fan club in the crowd there specifically to see him. He’s a talented young performer that shows a lot of potential. All friendliness came to a halt a few minutes later, though, as “Your Naan’s Favourite Wrestler” faked an injury as an opportunity to get a jump on Dom. From that point on it was a heated brawl, with the entertaining Jordan showing annoyance at the audience’s support of Black. The pair brawled out into the crowd, and referee Mark Rolls had no choice but to count them both out. It was at this point that it was revealed that True Grit’s return date would be 20 January 2018, featuring a championship tournament with tonight’s matches acting as qualifiers. As Black and Jordan were both counted-out, it was announced that both would be in that tournament. So, the rivalry is to be continued, by the looks of it. I like that they’re building some rivalries now that they seem to be running here semi-regularly – it always makes the matches more interesting than basic goodie vs. baddie. Next, former Super League player Luke Menzies showed off his power in dominating and beating Olly and Bradley (apologies, I missed their surnames) in a handicap match. I’ve been incredibly impressed with Menzies on the few times I’ve seen him now; as I mentioned in my last appearance in #GrapsAndClaps he looks to have all the tools and aptitude to be a star in this business. So this match was basically him just launching these two kids all over the place with ease and it was BRILLIANT. Luke quickly put them out of their misery with a huge powerslam. Consider me well and truly aboard the Luke Menzies train. The final match of the first half was billed as a “RI:SE guest match”, where WWE:UK’s MUSCLECAT Saxon Huxley bested Joe Vega with a shoulderbreaker. RISE runs gritty cool-looking “underground”-type shows in Leeds gig venues, themed around attitude-fuelled brawling and out-of-control action. They have a show coming up on Saturday 28 October at ‘Temple of Boom’, so that got a heavy plugging here. I do want to check out a RISE show, as they are pretty local to me and do look very cool and chaotic in a good way, but they always tend to clash with other shows I’m already attending (as is the case with their show next week, as I’ll be in London for wXw that day). Vega was a regular on the north-west scene a number of years ago, but then had a long spell out with injury. He was good here as the arrogant little prick. Much of what Musclecat does is basic, but I noticed that he does do those basics very well indeed; he’s a solid and capable wrestler. Danny O’Doherty spent most of this one leading chants of “JESUS! JESUS!” over the microphone, based on Saxon’s biblical appearance. After an interval in which drinks were refilled and raffle tickets were bought, Boris Koslov beat The Pop Punk Kid in a colourful and entertaining contest with the air raid crash. Boris, an alter-ego of longtime British wrestling personality JC Thunder, is no longer the “Russian Nightmare”, but a dancing, drinking friendly Russian party animal. PPK is billed from Chicago and came out with a box of pizza to match his pepperoni pizza tights. This match was daft but also loads of fun, with pizza getting thrown around (and out into the crowd) and Boris Cossack dancing and swigging from his vodka bottle to power-up his moves. A number of lounge chairs were brought into the ring next (then taken out… then put back in…), together with a potted plant, for a segment only described as “SPEED DATING WITH COWBOY JOHN PARKER”. Cowboy John Parker is a manager on GRAPPLE/TGW shows, and wears a cowboy hat and cowboy boots. Like a cowboy, you see. He also fancies himself as a bit of a lothario, so this was about bringing out some of the female wrestlers (including Ruby Radley and Evee Black) for him to “woo”. Instead, he insulted each of them in turn, before Evee smacked him round the head, called the segment “the most degrading thing I’ve ever been involved with in wrestling… and that’s saying something…” and challenged Parker to a match on the next show. This whole thing was nowhere near as cringeworthy as I thought it could be; a daft bit of throwaway fun. Before the next match, in which THE LION KINGS Seb Strife & Nsereko beat Bison Reid and (a partner whose name I didn’t catch), it was time for that all-important raffle, often the highlight of a British wrestling show. Starting a theme that would last all weekend, I only went and won the top bloomin’ prize – a family ticket to the 20 January return show. So there. The match itself was fine, a good showcase for the Lion Kings and featuring plenty of “RRRAAAAARRRR”ing. Oh, and Bison Reid is literally the best name for a wrestler. The main event was a rematch from the last True Grit show in Fibbers, in which Martin Kirby had defeated ‘The Grafter’ to relieve him of the GRAPPLE Championship. This return match was a streetfight, and while neither man “brought their jeans” for the occasion, it did involve an entire bagful of Poundland’s Halloween toys, including a severed hand which made a wonderfully satisfying noise when Kirby used it to chop Graves. Being a streetfight, it was quite fitting that they went outside Fibbers and FOUGHT, on the STREET. Most of the audience ran outside to watch, but I stayed inside and waited for it all to calm down… Sure enough, they fought back to the ring, where they bumped the referee and Kirby hit a Sablebomb on top of a pumpkin for a desperate nearfall. I am not making this up. After surviving such devastation, Graves hit Kirby with a spear to win back his belt. And that was that. Actually, no it wasn’t, because the show closed with a massive brawl between all the guys in the 20 January tournament and more. Referees & trainees couldn’t separate them, and it was only when the onlooking Big T Justice jumped in to lend a hand that everyone thought “f*ck that” and wisely backed down. And THAT was that. A fun little show that I really enjoyed, and I’ll likely be back for the 20 January championship tournament show (I did win the raffle, after all). Good local undergraps. Some good upcoming talented performers in a good atmosphere. And nothing that could be described as “bad”.
