Spontaneous idea just came to mind: Scavengers outside the walls have their own unique sort of tribe system, which would differ them from the ones in the walls because different environments would mean different behaviors from Scavs.

Perhaps they have their own Chieftans, maybe at least two. One sits by the toll to personally inspect and let through those who pay the toll, and the other keeps the area inside the toll safe. The Toll Chieftan might even personally escort those passing by if traded enough high-quality items. Meanwhile, the Inside Chieftan would be more like the one we see in Arti's story, sitting atop a high surface overlooking the territory.

Maybe they even have their own designated healers, ones that, if traded, can lend some of their supplies or heal those who need healing. There's always at least one healer you can count on being in there. Sometimes, you might see scavenger pups hanging around a healer as they are being healed, but they'll quickly hide upon being approached.

while this AU does lean towards the "comedic" vibes of the canon game (and me and my bff's experiences), could you really imagine what it's like in Kris' shoes here?

ohohohohoh yes. so much. all the time. all my ideas come from daydreaming. every fanfiction ive posted is a result of weeks and weeks of daydreaming and listening to music. if i get stuck on a scene i put on funky music and just walk around and daydream trying to figgure out plot/what happens next
