Our girl Tallulah is back because I have more to talk about, so let's go!!!

• Tallulah can't cook, but can bake, her favorite to bake are cookies, pies and mexican treats

• She's a healer...well at least WAS before purgatory. She used to heal and be a dragon focused on life...om everything good...but trauma made her powers, energy and trust bitter and dark

• She 100% crochets, making little trinkets all over the house and loving to gift them to everyone in the island

• Definitely qualified as the weird kid, a Tumblr girl and a wattpad girl, reads and writes fanfics.

• She loves to garden with Niki, Tina, Bagi, Phil and Missa, often talking how she needs to explore for more plants and makes a diary only with plants, flowers and seeds she finds and how her garden is growing

• Learned how to nest with Phil

• we already discussed how I believe she sees ghosts and deities, but, Tallu also has the ability to see... Techno, often asking him for advice and stories with her father...

• Before she moved on from Wilbur...she would write songs about missing him...now all her songs are more lively because she found her family and place finally

• Her drawings before were getting grayer and darker, now they are an explosion of color

• In her emo phase definitely listened to my chemical romance

• She has a fragile health, yet that never stops Tallu of calling others for adventures especially if it's for cheering someone up

Favourite OC: Valerie Michaelis (twc)! Which is a small surprise to me but she's been a breath of fresh air that grew on me quick since I first made her! Evelyne Graves (OM) is also a beloved OC of mine though despite that!

Newest OC: Mina Langford (twc). I've yet to actually play through the books with her, but I wanted to make a detective to romance Mason. She's still in the process of being fleshed out a bit more but I have her appearance and mini background sorted now!

Oldest OC: Shiala Tsoni (Gw2). She was my first example of diving into character building outside of what the game's plot had in store for her. I hardly do anything with this OC outside of when I play the game, but I certainly had fun creating backstories for her in my head when I first made her.

Meanest OC: The Doll (OM). She is a somewhat grumpy ghost possessing an abandoned ball-jointed doll, she loves to scare people for the sake of it!

Softest OC: A mix between Valerie (twc) and Ophelia (ikevamp)! Both women have gentle personalities and are always the best at comforting people.

Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: Evelyne (OM). She is fairly closed off and will appear cold to those who try to get past all of her barriers too quickly. She also dislikes crowds and public spaces, which results in her appearing somewhat standoffish and rude.

Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: Lucille Michaelis (FFXIV). There's a reason I took her to be my virtual namesake when making accounts! Jokes aside, oc Lucille has good intentions but sometimes forgets to think about the larger picture when it comes to things and often doubts herself when it comes to that!

Smartest OC: Valerie (twc) purely due to being one of the very few oc's of mine who went to uni and graduated!

OC I'd Be Friends With: Is it cheating to say all of them (besides the doll)? I'd probably want to be friends with Evelyne the most, just so that I could give her a hug to apologise for all that I've put her through!

So I'm just curious, the Pokedex says that Hatterenne will "tear you apart with the claw om its tentacle if you're too loud around it", so does yours just... hit you or something if you get mad after losing a battle or something like that? Since you're it's trainer, I doubt it would actually hurt you if you bothered it, but it has been known to be hostile

Okay, genius. First of all, if I lost the battle, Ophelia wouldn't exactly be awake enough to hit me at all. So.

Second of all, you jerks WISH she'd shut me up, ha! Pretty sure that's what mother wanted when she gave her to me, anyway. Thought "the Silent Pokemon" might mellow me out. Nope! Lots of time around the Squad has kinda gotten her used to noise and activity and whatever. But if she ever feels overwhelmed, she kinda gives me a psychic prod, and we slip away toward Glaseado. Much less people there.

She's just as great as the rest of my team, just needs some help sometimes when she's having trouble. You know, kinda like me.

Kreukvrij is een tragisch-humoristische beeldende voorstelling met muziek, dans, fysiek spel en veel omkledingen. Een voorstelling over het zoeken naar je identiteit en hoeveel je jezelf daarvoor, letterlijk en figuurlijk, moet blootgeven. Bezoekersinformatie Op zondag 3 maart gaat Kreukvrij in première bij het Theaterschip in het Havenkwartier van Deventer. De voorstelling begint om 15:00 uur en duurt tot 15:45 uur. Het kunstenaarschap en mythes

Drie algemene mythen over het kunstenaarschap/ de meest voorkomende ideeën over het kunstenaarschap.

De romantische kunstenaar

De klassieke kunstenaar

De modernistische kunstenaar

Op sociale media is er een sterke romantisering drang, er wordt voor mijn gevoel ook veel romantische kunst geplaatst/gebruikt om boodschappen over te brengen. De emotie en verheerlijking van de romantische kunstenaar past bij de esthetische verlangens van het internet/sociale media, het romantiseert en 'verbetert' het leven. Een voorbeeld van een vaak op sociale media gepost werk is Ophelia van John Everett Millais, samen met ander prerafaëliet werk.

In mijn eigen kring (mijn familie) merk ik zelf dat het idee van de romantische  kunstenaar nog steeds het sterkst is. Het is alleen meer een mix samen met de moderne kunstenaar, dus je reflecteert op de maatschappij maar tegelijkertijd sta je er ook buiten. Je ziet dingen anders, en geeft alles aan de kunst om dit over te brengen. Hiermee offer je een leven met comfort (GELD) op. Sterven voor je werk, etc, etc.

Ik mis aan het model dat het vooral gefocust is op de Westerse kunst. Maar voor mijn gevoel is het redelijk compleet als het gaat over de vooroordelen van mensen over kunstenaars.

Ik heb het gevoel dat in deze tijd wordt verwacht dat je als kunstenaar vooral veel met de maatschappij bezig bent, en het klimaat. Dit moet omdat het werk geen nut zou hebben als het niet maatschappij kritisch was en mensen niet aan het denken zou zetten. (Dit zeg ik met de blik van iemand buiten de kunstwereld/ kunstacademie) Het moet iets doen, of voelbaar/tastbaar zijn. Experience art is ook een interessante ontwikkeling en naar mijn mening een social media fenomeen?

De studio zegt naar mijn mening zeker wel wat over het kunstenaarschap, de omgeving waarin je kunst maakt heeft er invloed op, of het bewust is of niet. De studio is een vrij toepasbaar concept ( de wereld is een grote studio??!), misschien gelijk aan het idee van het kunstenaarschap. Ook is het interessant om over de studio te denken als een soort black box,  niemand weet wat er in de studio/atelier van een kunstenaar gebeurt...Er komt opeens kunst uit de studio. Het werkproces blijft een stukje alchemie. De studio is een mythische en magische plek vooral als je nog nooit de kou en tl buizen licht op de Pastoe hebt meegemaakt.

Tate Britain wijdt een tentoonstelling aan the Preraphaelite Brotherhood en meer in het bijzonder aan de familie Rossetti. Dichteres Christina Rossetti en schilder-dichter Dante Gabriel Rossetti zijn zus en broer. Elizabeth Siddal huwde met Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Een van Gabriels eerste olieverfschilderijen toont zijn zuster Christina tijdens een annunciatie-scène. Hun broer Michael poseerde voor de engel. Deze annunciatie werd geïnspireerd door middeleeuwse religieuze kunst, maar met een moderne psychologische invalshoek. De engel heeft Maria opgeschrikt uit haar dromen; haar gezicht toont schrik.

Een inspiratiebron voor Dante Gabriel Rossetti was William Blake, van wie ik in januari 2020 een tentoonstelling zag in dit zelfde museum. Toen Gabriel student was aan de Royal Academy leende zijn broer hem 10 shilling (nu zo’n 75 pond) om het notitieboek van Blake te kunnen kopen. Het boek versterkte zijn weerzin tegen de regeltjes en tradities van de Academy en een jaar later stopte hij dan ook met zijn studie.

Vader Rossetti was docent en vertaler van de Italiaanse middeleeuwse dichter Dante Alighieri. Dantes inferno verhaalt over de liefde van Francesco en Paolo, die beiden gedwongen zijn in een gearrangeerd huwelijk. In de compositie van Gabriel toont Paolo Francesca een boek waarin de minnaren Lancelot en koningin Guinevere zijn afgebeeld. De intimiteit van het moment eindigt in een kus. De minnaars worden echter betrapt en ter dood veroordeeld.

Elizabeth Siddal werkte in een hoedenwinkel toen ze in contact kwam met de pas opgerichte Preraphaelite Brotherhood. Ze poseerde voor verschillende schilderijen, onder meer voor Ophelia door John Everett. Later zou ze trouwen met Gabriel.

Het schilderij The Girlhood of Mary Virgin toont Christina en moeder Frances, die poseren als Maria en Anna. Hoewel Gabriel een atheïst was, waardeerde hij de kracht van religieuze kunst, symbolen en ideeën.

Op 11 februari 1862 vond Gabriel Elizabeth buiten bewustzijn met een lege fles laudium naast haar. Een dokter behandelde haar, maar ze stierf de volgende ochtend. Elizabeths leven en dood werd daarna hoofdthema in Gabriels werk. In Beata Beatrix vergelijkt Gabriel  zijn gevoelens na Elizabeths overlijden met Dante Alighieri’s wanhoop na de dood van Beatrice. Een vogel brengt haar een papaver als boodschapper van de dood en de zonnewijzer symboliseert tijd. Op de achtergrond kijkt Dante naar Love, een engel die de vlam van Beatrice’s leven vasthoudt. De rivier Arno symboliseert de rivier Styx uit Dante’s Inferno.

Het tragische is dat Elizabeth Siddal, dankzij Gabriels postume verering, beter werd herinnerd als tragische muze dan als een zelfstandig kunstenaar. Het zou honderddertig jaar duren eer er een solotentoonstelling aan haar werk werd gewijd.

[Deel 3 van een trilogie: Spoiler Alert voor wie deel 1 en 2 nog niet heeft gelezen!]

Als ze eenmaal buiten was, de Scholomance had overleefd, zou El samen met Orion nieuwe, kleine en alleen op mana gebaseerde 'gouden' enclaves gaan stichten. Dat was haar grote droom. Maar nu is zij buiten, terwijl Orion is achtergebleven in de Scholomance, alleen met alle maleficenten die ze zo succesvol hadden aangelokt en de reusachtige maw-mouth Patience. El wil zo snel mogelijk terug naar binnen. Dat is niet zo eenvoudig, zonder steun en een flinke voorraad mana. Ondertussen wordt ook steeds vaker een beroep gedaan op haar unieke vaardigheid om met maw-mouths af te rekenen. Tijdens haar zoektocht leert El haar ware vrienden kennen, én een heleboel meer over de duistere geheimen die ten grondslag liggen aan de enclaves.

“Yes,” I said. “It matters. I’m not going to help you reattach the Scholomance and dump all the maleficaria in the world back in, just so your enclave can keep the power it represents.” She gave a snort, like I’d said something funny. “Power? It’s a giant mana pit. We’re carrying more than twice our fair share, we cover all the shortfalls. But it’s still a massive chunk of capital infrastructure, and it’s the only long-term solution we’ve got. Yours is just temporary. We’ll be right back at the seventy-five percent child mortality rate in sixty years, and then we’ll have to build another Scholomance. I don’t want to throw this one away. At the very least, we should keep it going on a subsistence level until we need it again. What I’d really like is to find some way to use it to repeat your technique on a regular basis instead, but from what we’ve heard,” she nodded towards Chloe, “it’s not going to be all that easy.” “Wait,” Liesel said sharply. “Why so soon? We calculated that it would be more than a hundred years to reach a mortality rate of fifty percent. That was why it was worth it, sacrificing the entire school—” “I’m guessing you kept the maleficaria generation rate steady when you crunched your numbers,” Ophelia said. “It’s not steady. The more wizards there are—and you just saved a whole lot of them—the more mals there will be.” “Why would more wizards surviving mean more mals?” I said. “We’ll kill mals.” She gave me what wasn’t quite a pitying look, because she didn’t have enough pity to manufacture one. “We’ll make more than we kill. Did you think it was all crazy maleficers in secret labs cackling, or careless mistakes? Any cheating does it. Remember? You must never use any mana you do not generate yourself. Any use of malia leads to the generation of maleficaria. First page of every single textbook, the Freshman Orientation Handbook, the contract you signed to get into school?” I did remember it, and sourly, because no one else paid any attention to it. The real reason no one used malia at school was because there weren’t a lot of options for getting hold of it. Outside, almost everyone cheats at least a little; they steal from ants or beetles, wither a vine or a patch of grass, without ever seeing the damage they do. Mum didn’t let me get away with that sort of thing, but most parents do it themselves. Ophelia nodded. “Whenever somebody needs a little more mana than they’ve got, they steal it from somewhere, seems like no big deal—but you end up with a negative flow of mana. When that negative flow gets big enough, a mal will generate around it. It’s not a secret. But people do it anyway.” She lifted her hands to the heavens.

In dit laatste deel komen alle lijnen bij elkaar en ook kleine dingen uit het eerste boek blijken van groot belang. Het zit allemaal heel goed in elkaar; geen simpel goed versus kwaad. Erg fijn leesvoer!

Vijf mensenlevens, alle mensenlevens

Daar zat ik, voor de tweede keer in een jaar, helemaal alleen in een kleine bioscoopzaal. Het licht doofde en 'No Hay Camino' ('Er is geen weg') begon, de documentaire van de zeventigjarige Hedy Honigmann. Pas wie achterom kijkt, ziet de weg die men is gegaan. Het is haar afscheidsfilm, want ze weet dat ze niet meer lang te leven heeft. Ze keert terug naar Peru, heeft veel ontmoetingen en bezoekt oude plekken. Nooit is het sentimenteel, maar weemoed genoeg. Ik kon in die lege zaal mijn tranen de vrije loop laten.

Het zijn wel erg veel mensenlevens die in de afgelopen twee weken mijn leven binnenwandelden, want naast haar waren dat de Britse acteurs Judy Dench en Daniël Day-Lewis, een geadopteerde Britse vrouw van Griekse afkomst en een fictieve Franse vrouw, Rachel Steiner. Twee afleveringen van een televisieserie, twee documentaires en een speelfilm*. Keer op keer gaf ik me over aan hun levens, en net als in romans worden ze aan je ontvouwd. Zo'n ontvouwd leven is als een point de vue. Op een hoger gelegen punt ligt het voor je, je kijkt en bewondert, verbaast je, vraagt je dingen af. Dat is naast een esthetische ook een gevoelservaring en niet zelden een beetje filosofische ervaring.

Hedy Honigmann ondergaat in haar rolstoel niet alleen die intense ontmoeting met haar verleden, maar geeft er als regisseur letterlijk vorm aan, de verblufte en geëmotioneerde actrice, wier eerste toneelrol Ophelia was, ontdekt dat zij Deense voorouders heeft met een link naar het kasteel waar Hamlet is gesitueerd, de bijna mythische acteur lijkt door de blik op zijn kindertijd en zijn wisselende verschijningen nog fabel-achtiger te worden, de Griekse vondelinge vindt op haar zestigste broers en een moeder, de dochter van de Franse vrouw legt bitter uit hoe wreed en immoreel haar vader was voor hen beiden; haar moeder echter heeft dat alles aanvaard, niet lijdzaam, niet wraakzuchtig maar met de onontkoombaarheid van het leven zelf. Hoewel deze vijf om verschillende redenen uitzonderlijk zijn, bezitten hun levens elementen die wij allen kennen: ongeloof, volharding, opstand, gelatenheid, aspiratie, verlangen, angst, liefde.

Er zijn altijd krachten die op ons inwerken, vaak ongevraagd, soms gezocht, soms zelf in gang gezet, meestal ongeweten, want altijd is daar het toeval, dat onze levens doet tuimelen. Zoals ook de pijnen van het leven dat doen. En als we uitgetuimeld zijn, weer de aarde in onze rug voelen en zijn opgestaan, dan kloppen we onszelf af en zeggen: dit is mijn leven.

i talked with my therapist about you for two hours

didn’t know you had one. how did you describe me to your therapist?

i told her you were complicated. that there’s a part of you that’s the same as me. part of you wants to be unhappy. everyone wants to be unhappy but just as in me it’s stronger in you than it is in other people. that’s exactly why you’re not like ophelia. i told her that you wrote to me in a letter that you were scared you’d go mad 

i don’t think i’m going to go mad. when you’ve had someone close to you. who’s gone mad. you worry. she didn’t think she was going to go mad. 

that’s my point. she just wanted to be happy. my therapist suggested that i don’t want to be with you because i’m scared. which may be true. but it also may be simpler than that

part of me hated you. for wanting to be unhappy. it was perfectly epitomized in that anne carson poem you left me. it really triggered me. i’ve been spending so much time worrying about my horoscope, about how it said i’d be married at 28 and have a child and then spend time away from home at the age of 41 and. i couldn’t help but picture it. us. just slowly drifting apart. you being. “fucked like a baboon by a man who no longer cherishes you.”

part of me loved you but probably not in the way you’d like. part of me loved you because i could empathize with you. because i recognized you. 

i can’t explain why i fell in love with you. i just did.

i’m thinking about how different we are. how different our trajectories have been. from the age of 14 i was... i wouldn’t say desperate for a relationship but. i was carnivorous. that’s the word my mum used. she said i have a “carnivorous appetite for life” 

are you still carnivorous?

somewhere in me it’s there. it wasn’t the result of something carnivorous when i fell in love with you.

because i used to think sex was disgusting.

i thought it was something people did to fill a void inside them because there lives were empty

sex can be about that. or it can just be joyful.

my therapist said that we can still have a meaningful relationship. that we can still explore each other. without necessarily being in love

she’s right.
