“Where are we going, Jojo?”
You don’t receive an answer, which is no surprise, but you’ve been walking with your partner along this boardwalk for the last ten minutes and felt like you needed to break the silence with something. Florida summers are unforgiving even during this late hour, sweat in uncomfortable places as you continue walking. As much as you’re losing your patience, you’re also curious where all this is going.
It only takes another moment before Jotaro stops in front of a gate, a sign on the front saying “Research Staff Only” and he unlocks it to let you pass through.
“We’re almost there.” He says, taking the path without another word knowing that you’ll follow. Once you catch up you wrap yourself around Jotaro’s arm and he huffs. You look up just in time as he pulls the brim of his hat down his head.
Jotaro leads you to a private section of the beach. The sand is shades lighter than what you’re used to and the waters nearly crystal clear. Aside from obvious lack of human interference, it’s not apparent what’s so special about this area until Jotaro walks across the sand and you watch in awe as almost every step lights up around him in brilliant shades of blue. The glow in the ocean catches the corner of your eye too. The gentle waves roll across the shore and your breath hitches at the sight of large pockets of blue hiding within the water.
“What the fuck.” Is the only way to sum up what you’re feeling right now. You take a few steps across the sand, your mouth hanging open as the fine grains light up gently under your feet.
“Bioluminescent dinoflagellates. Specifically Noctiluca, or to be blunt: glowing algae.” Jotaro explains, “They’re generally harmless but it’s safer if you don’t—If you don’t touch them.” He sighs that part out when he turns to see your sandals in hand, ankle deep in the sand as you kick your bare feet around to unearth the algae hidden away.
It’s become one of those rare date-nights where Jotaro says more words in an hour than he’ll speak the entire week. His face is serious as always while you ask as many algae related questions you can think of just to continue to hear his voice. After a while, you're too enamored with the sights to notice how quiet it’s become until you’re ready to ask another question and catch his soft gaze zeroed in on you.
“What’re you staring at?” You tease, kicking a clump of sand at his legs which snaps Jotaro back into focus and earns you an annoyed grunt.
“I'm not staring at you,” Jotaro replies, trying and failing not to sound defensive, “I’m just—I’m—” Jotaro’s voice trails off for a moment, though you can hear the rest being said under his breath as his cheeks turn a faint shade of pink, “I’m admiring you.”
A grin spreads across your face and he lets out a much louder ‘yare yare’ before leaning down for a kiss to nip any teasing you might do in the bud. Doesn’t stop you from flicking out more clumps of sand on him though. When Star Platinum appears and grabs fistfuls of the sand while you run for dear life, the algae lighting up with each step to make you the perfect target, you don’t regret a single thing.

✧.*✧.*✧.*✧The Sea Show part 2✧.*✧.*✧.*✧
warning: death, gore, dehumanization
Tumblr media
The patron’s shouts were deafening even through the pool’s walls and layers of water. Kaiyo kept doing rounds underneath the Monster’s feet as they stood on a platform hanging just above the water’s surface. He couldn’t tell which voices were more common, to make him swim around or to hunt. He hated himself for hoping for the latter, the chasing included live fish that he could eat. The show host waited for a few minutes, trying to catch if either of the ideas was requested more, but it seemed like both were equally popular.
“My dear patrons, looks like everyone wants a different thing, but fortunately I’ve already planned for an occurrence like that” They snapped their fingers, and one of the assistants, a painfully thin fox yokai, her tail wrapped in shining red ribbon and golden bells. The creature didn’t raise her head nor utter a word when she gave the Monster a small, metal box made out of wires shaped like branches and leaves. Kaiyo couldn’t see clearly what was inside, the box’s bottom was a solid piece of brass. But he suspected what it was.
“Well then, looks like the audience can’t decide, and who am I to deny our Patrons their rightful entertainment? Both it is then!” the hellish bell rang again, the mer stopped the mindless circling to get closer to the show's host. As he got closer, the box’s content became revealed; a pixie fairy. The small, humanoid creature form was thrashing around, desperately trying to get away from Monster’s hands.
“As you all know, koi fish eat anything, from algae to insects” Now, that he was closer to the surface, the elf’s voice got louder, the way they touched his scales sending shivers down his spine. Just yesterday the same nails that now were scratching him gently almost ripped apart his tail veil when he didn’t make the jump they wanted high enough.
“But those mers are strictly carnivorous, feeding on the same fish that their tail originates from. This little friend got a bit nervous, today is his first performance before a large audience of course, and he didn’t eat too much in the past few days. So, let me show you how well he can jump to catch his dinner” With that, the Monster pulled the pixie out of the metal box, careful not to break her wings. The container banged on the walkway over the pool, sending a painful sound through the water. When their hand was free, they once again rang the bell. Two long rings, a pause, and another three short ones. ‘Dinner’ and ‘hunt’. The fairy squeaked when her leg was cut, two drops of her blood falling into the water, putting the mer in a hunting frenzy. The long shrunken stomach began hurting again, while his instincts sharpened, zeroing on the pathetic flying creature that was now vulnerable. And easy to catch.
When Kaiyo’s pupils blew wide, ready to jump, the Monster let go of the pixie, which in turn bolted upwards. The patrons blocked her way on the sides, a single skylight on the top of the circus tent being the only way out.
“Go on, it’s all yours” the Show Master whispered, the mer not waiting any second longer. With two powerful beats of the tail, he gained speed in the water and shot out of the water. The fairy didn’t stand a chance. The audience held their breath as the two giant hands caught her mid-air and both creatures bolted down towards the pool. Now out of the poll, they could clearly see his white tail dotted with red and black dots, a thin veil reaching from his shoulderblades to the fins, and that he was twice as long as a human. His body made an enormous splash, some droplets almost reaching the audience before they evaporated on the magical shield protecting the seats from the performers.
After a few seconds, Kaiyo surfaced in front of the Monster, his face dripping with water and blood, two sets of sharp teeth shining in a broad smile. His pupils were blown wide, consuming almost all of his visible eye.
“Good boy” the Show Master petted his raven-black hair. They straightened their back, pacing the audience, and made a deep bow. A few seconds of silence, then a thunderous applause.
“Of course, all creatures in the Menagerie are well-trained and can do such tricks! I am more than glad to give you more! Please, tell me your desires! Or, would you rather see more of our monsters?”

Aftermare Week 2023
Day 1: Illumination
"Can I take the blindfold off now?"
"No, not yet. We're almost there, though, promise."
"C'mon, we've been out at see for a while now, and while I'm not complaining about the company, I admit I'm getting a bit chilled by the water and nighttime winds. It is quite late as well."
Geno reached back and patted Nightmare on the head. "It'll be worth it, I promise. I noticed this last night, and because it rarely appears anywhere near your place, I knew I had to show you this. Can you hold out for a bit longer?" He hoped Nightmare would like this, but if he really wanted to go home, he would bring him back.
Nightmare shook his head lightly, "I can, especially with how excited you are to show me whatever it is. Let's continue."
Geno swam for a while longer until he reached the area he found. He tested the waters by moving his hand through the waves, and seeing that it was still here, he turned to Nightmare. "Ok, we're here, you can take it off."
He lifted the blindfold, and was met by dark waters. He looked around, trying to see what Geno had brought him to see. He saw nothing but the back of Geno's skull, the vast ocean, and the clear starry sky.
". . . What... what did you want to show me?"
"Watch this." And with that, he started swimming with almost exaggerated movements. This made the water around them start to glow a beautiful blue/teal. This captivated Nightmare, who couldn't help but stare at the sight before him. He moved his hand through the water, watching how the water glowed against his bones as he moved them.
Geno looked at him with his one good eye and smiled at him, loving how mesmerized he looked in the glow of the algae. "This is so pretty. What is this?"
"It's algae, a kind that is bioluminescent. I come across this stuff occasionally, and I wanted to show you as soon as I came across this patch of them."
"It's amazing, thanks for showing this to me."
"So, worth getting cold and wet this late at night? . . . Wait, that sounds weird now that I said it out loud, is it weird?"
Nightmare laughed, "Nah, you're fine. I know what you meant. And, yeah, it was worth it." He maneuvered himself more so that he was still holding onto Geno, but now in the water. Before Geno could question what he was doing, Nightmare pulled his head down a bit and kissed him. Surprised, but happy, he leaned into it while holding Nightmare close.
After that, they swam for a little while longer until the water and temperature got too low for Nightmare's comfort. Geno swam him back to the shore closest to his home, where he picked him up. Nightmare had left a towel and jacket there for his return, knowing that it would be needed after leaving the water. Nightmare turns and waves goodbye to Geno, who waves back, and he wraps the towel around his waist and puts the jacket on. The only downside to this is that there's now sand in the joints of his bones, which is always a pain to get them out. Especially when there's little tiny spaces that the sand seems to always get stuck deep in, like his feet and between his kneecap andleg bones. Oh well, he's used to it. He'll gladly deal with it, he knows it's worth the minor inconvenience.
And the start of Aftermare Week has begun. We start with a continuation of last year's Aftermare story. But I'm doing something different this year. There is no continuous story this time, but instead I'm mixing it up with callbacks from different stories from the past(and a couple of new ideas). There will be art this time as well!

Day 3 Word Count: 1426
Splashes of water continuously nip at his ankles, warning him to step back. He would if he could, but his soaked back and arms lay flat with his palms down against the side of a concrete wall chipped and warped from water erosion and thirsty plants. This was a stupid idea, he thinks to himself with his eyes clenched and a release of an unsteady breath upwards. At the time, he thought it would be the best way to hide while still running away. Easy, like in one of his adventure video games where he whips across caverns and shoots bad guys that want to steal his discoveries. But, he doesn't have a whip or gun, and definitely isn't a strong history teacher slash explorer. He's just a kid named Aaron thinking too slow for his actions.
Sure, the rapid water does override his heavy breathing, but everything is slick with runoff and algae. He didn't feel even remotely safe to continue. Still, he had to keep moving less they catch him lingering. He takes it slow: sliding his feet together then apart to inch his way further. His bow presses between his shoulder blades and scrapes against the concrete.
He hears a commotion that makes his heart jot and feet freeze. He turns his head right, eyes following a dirt path he ran down earlier. He spots them before they spot him.
"Hey!" the angriest one of them yells, pointing at the boy who dared to give him the developing shiner on his right eye.
It was accident! Aaron didn't even know that they were hanging out under the tree. If anything, it was gravity that hit him with the apple. Okay, yes, he was the one that hit the tree and made a bunch of apples fall, but he wasn't even aiming for that tree. He had missed the apple he was going for in the neighboring one. Course, why would they believe him when they had his arrow as evidence. It's not like anyone else was holding a bow.
He had just wanted to try out his new gift. His mom had found and given it to him for his birthday saying that it belonged to his grandpa. She said that he was the best archer around, that his sharp skills were how he wooed grandma. That he had given her the winning apple he shot during a contest. Aaron wanted to practice with his bow right away and excitedly biked to the nearby apple orchard. But instead of slicing through a few apples, he made enemies out of some guys he didn't even know.
As the angry boy runs down the path, the rapid water creates enough wind to tussle with his almost black hair and equally black tank. If Aaron wasn't running for his life, he might've thought that it made the guy look kinda cool. Right now though, it just made him even more intimidating as the evidence of muscles highlights that the guy is both stronger and older than Aaron. Faster, he thinks, his feet obeying. Almost, just a little bit further. But then, his foot slips.
A scream leaves him followed by a grunt and a snap as his back hits the puny ledge he was sliding across. Shivers rack his body as he scrambles to grab onto said ledge, but there's nothing to grip onto and the rapid water greedily snatches him away. He tries to move his arms like someone who knows how to swim, but ends up just flailing and fighting against the water. He fails to stop it from entering his mouth and nose and the warm droplets from his eyes don't even register. His head falls under.
Warmth wraps around him. Is this a sign that I'm dying, he wonders. He heard that the mind has the ability to comfort the body when it is dying. Love you mom, he thinks, I'm sorry for leaving you alone.
Suddenly, he is pulled out of the water and his lungs beg for him to breathe, which he obeys, gasping it in, coughing it out. He clings to the warmth that just so happens to be wearing a tank as well as a silver chain wrapped around his neck highlighting the beginnings of some geometric spine tattoo. The guy still looks angry, but this time the anger is focused on the water that he is fighting and winning against. His left hand accented with a black band and silver ring clings onto the dirt ground right before the ledge Aaron previously was scooting slowly across. Aaron grabs onto the dirt as well, trying to help in his own rescue.
They both pull themselves out of the water. The guy helps Aaron by dragging him up by the back of his red tee. When the hand leaves him, Aaron collapses onto his back, noticing a lack of something pressing against him. Dammit, he groans. Two other guys run up to them.
"Shit, Lee! You okay?" one asks while pulling presumably Lee up.
"That was crazy!" the other one exclaims while slapping his friend's back a couple times in an attempt to dislodge any water that may have found its way into the boy's body.
Lee coughs before he huffs out a laugh and pushes his friends' arms away. "I'm good, I'm good." He looks down at Aaron, "Hey, kid. You good?"
Aaron looks up at the boy who decides to crouch next to him. His necklace now dangles forward letting him see the thick oval that he guesses might be a locket. "Yeah," his voice rasps. He turns and coughs. He tried again, "Yeah, I'm good. Thank for saving me. I'm not much of a swimmer."
"Noticed. And, no problem."
"You better be lucky Lee was here!" Lee's broad, spiky-haired friend insists. "He's the fasted on the swim team and still struggled to get you out. Anyone else, you'd both be fish food."
Lee and you guys are the reason I almost became 'fish food' in the first place, Aaron notes to himself while also noting that the stupid decision is still his fault. He sits up, which puts him closer to Lee's face and bruised eye. "Right, yeah, thanks again. And, sorry for that." He gestures to the bruise. "I meant it when I said it was an accident."
"Eh, no matter. If anything, almost drowning's probably enough of payback, wouldn't you say?" His eyes squint, "Hey, where is your bow anyways?"
Aaron looks back at the water dejected, his hand absently lands on the empty quiver attached to his belt. At least he has something of his grandpa's left. "I think it broke when I fell."
The guys follow his gaze, "Oh."
He fails to shrug off his crestfallen expression, "It was old. It was bound to break."
"Hey." Lee grasps his shoulder, "You sure you're okay?"
"Yeah. I'm just gonna sit here for a sec, okay?"
Lee nods, pats his shoulder, stands, and walks over to his friends.
"Don't go jumping back into that water!" The tall lanky one with the big curly hair calls back.
"Yeah, don't wanna fatten up these mutant fish!" The other jumps in.
Aaron huffs, never planned to in the first place, but smiles small at them, "Don't worry, I won't."
They start to walk up the path. Aaron watches Lee stop, his back to him as he stares down the waterway. "Hey, kid—"
"Aaron."
Lee turns to him with a chuckle, the setting sun reflecting in his black eyes, "Aaron. Practice your aim, okay?"
"Uh," he stutters, I'll need another bow, "Yeah, sure."
"Cool. See you around," he says while turning back with a wave that Aaron weakly returns even though the other couldn't see it.
He watches them leave.
A week later, a bow leaning against an apple tree in the orchard stills him. It's his grandpa's, scraped and cracked, but patched up and possibly even usable. Even though his mom was upset, she had gotten him another bow, one without so much family value. He knows his mom is going to be overjoyed at the bow's return. He picks it up, noticing a note attached:
Aaron, Hope it is you that finds this. This was the only place I could think to get it back to you. I don't know if it still works, but it looked like it was important to you. Think of this like a sorry for chasing you and making you lose it. Good luck, Lee

Mermaid!Jungkook x Reader [Part 3]
Trapped in this life of expensive wine and judgemental eyes Y/N met an unusual lady who offered her a job at an aquarium a few towns away. Despite being hesitant and uncertain for the future she decided to take the offer as it was her only way out, not knowing that many dangers might come her way.
Jungkook swam his way through the small tunnel in wonder. He didn’t realise what he was ‘walking’ into as he took the entire night to explore a tunnel. He thought it might lead to you, how naive. It is only when he heard the piercing sound of drilling from the small tunnel entrance did he know what was happening, he was trapped. With that, his instincts took over.
Chapter: #3 Swimming in Wine
Words: 4843
Warnings: Mild Swearing // Fluff // Eventual Smut? Idk maybe depends // Jungkook obsessive // Evil Namjoon (im sorry guys) // It might be a little messed up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was early in the morning when the sun started to creep its way into the room. You were sitting on your bed and surprisingly enough, you were already awake. You never used to be such an early bird, but throughout these past few nights, you would wake up drenched in sweat. No matter how hard you tried you couldn't stop thinking about the incident on the cliff. Upon sleeping, you could almost feel the arms of the creature wrapped around you, like its haunting touch has placed a permanent mark on you. When thinking about it more deeply, it felt human to you. The arms of a human, but its touch too deeply pressed on your skin: the coldness you felt, reached down to your bones. It was like death was clinging onto you, with you as its life source.
"Hey Y/N? You up?" You heard a whisper and you saw Julie poking her head through the door as she opened it slightly. You look over at her with a relaxed expression and a soft smile.
"Yeah, I'm already up. Did you want to go and get a coffee near the waterfront before dropping me off to work?" You stand up from your bed and start fixing the blankets and pillows.
"Yeah that sounds like a good idea, let me go get my bag and we can leave soon." She spoke as she left the room, closing the door but not all the way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking out onto the ocean, it felt calm today. Although the tranquillity that you felt while looking out onto the shore exhibited a chaotic kind of peace. The calm before the storm. You could feel it, the anger of the waves crashing down and the freeing nature of the water wanting to come out. But it held restraint, it couldn't do anything even if it tried. Something was missing but you didn't know what. All you knew was that the feeling you had felt when looking out towards the ocean, changed somehow. The calm waters seemed too good to be true.
You sat there at the coffee shop across from the beach near where you work. The smell of sea-salt and fish mixed with coffee seemed like a horrible combination, but the locals were used to it. You found comfort in the idea that you might get used to it too. The coffee that you held in your hands was hot against the cool air. You sipped your coffee while waiting for Julie to come back with her usual morning cravings of insatiable sweet pastries.
“So, tell me. Have you made any work friends? Any of them cute?” Julie sat down across from you, taking you away from your thoughts. You looked over at her and chuckled, rolling your eyes.
“I have made some friends, not many but hopefully that will change in time” You smiled slightly looking out at the ocean again, feeling yourself get distracted but not with anything in particular. "Well it’s your first day today so make sure to stay on your toes, but don't overwork yourself," Julie spoke while her mouth is full of sweet dough-like pastries, more focused on the icing coating the top of her lips, not realising that you have been spacing out this entire time.
Thankfully you're good at multi-tasking and you chuckle at her comment, "It’s funny, people keep forgetting that I have worked at an aquarium before you know? It's not that much of a big deal." You sip your coffee but immediately placed it back down on the table, it was too sweet.
You look at your watch, realising its time to go. Plus, you would rather be at work than trying to have a normal conversation with her, you know she's trying but she's not your caretaker or mother, she doesn't need to try so hard.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you walk through the entrance of the Aquarium you could immediately feel the difference in atmosphere from the other day. The busy environment that you knew so well back home at the aquarium suddenly felt familiar. The buzzing sounds of life engulfed the reception as many families and residents were chatting away while waiting in line. Kids nagging at their parents and young couples looking at each other lovingly while waiting in line.  There were not many people though as it was early, and it wasn't officially open for another 30 minutes.
You walked past them towards the reception and saw Seokjin who looked busy talking to the people in line. He glanced over at you and he made an expression as if he remembered something.
"Ah Y/N, Jimin told me to tell you to wait for him at the food court at the bar. You'll be working with him today. Taehyung is meant to be here, but he called in sick". You nodded, silently chuckling to yourself as Taehyung probably just called in sick because he was "too busy" or had some "emergency". While in reality, he's probably watching a new season of a drama he recently got addicted to.
You head your way to the food court after you say goodbye to Seokjin. It seemed quiet in the food court but simultaneously busy as workers prepared for the day. You could see some workers running around in their little cafes or tourist shops as you walk towards the main bar. You could hear your heels hit the glassy floor, echoing as it bounced off the wall of the gigantic room.
The bar had no one in it. You suppose it didn't open till later in the day. It was weird to you, you have never seen an Aquarium that had a bar before. Mind you, you never really travelled anywhere so you wouldn't know if it's a common thing to have at Aquariums.
You sat on the stool, looking at the giant tank circling the entire food court, acting as a wall around the large room. You tried to look through it to see how far it went but all you could see was the light blue ocean that seemed almost endless. Some small school fish could also be seen swimming in the tank. It felt as though you were in the middle of the ocean. All alone.
In contrast to the light blue colour that is seen throughout the rest of the room, the small tank that was built into the wall behind the bar looked darker and overgrown. It was a very small square tank that resembled a small window. You could barely see through it, a thick layer of algae covering the glass, it looked so dark in there. Maybe it was connected to another section of the aquarium, perhaps it even descended underground?
You shivered and looked around the food court, were you being watched? You could feel the sudden nervousness tingling throughout your body.
It was a weird feeling that came upon you, an icy cold feeling of loneliness like the air had suddenly shifted. The voices of the other workers in the food court were drifting away and you were slowly slipping away from reality. An alluring voice crept into your ear, singing an enchanting but hypnotising harmony. Somehow you could sense that it wasn't one of the workers for the voice sounded too angelic, too sweet to even be real. Your bones were chilled as you sensed the familiar feeling of cold strong arms enveloping around your waistline and chest as if you were reliving the moment by the cliff. You could physically feel it, its touch… his touch. Closing your eyes, you could feel the cold sharp wind from that moment above the water as it brushed against your cheeks. The creature’s hot breath giving you some type of warmth in the moment, yet it felt unknown to you. Mortality was clutching you in its hands, but you felt so safe. Like it was saving you despite drowning you at the same time.
You shook your head, awaking from the trance that you were in. Glancing back over at the tank behind the bar and you saw a dark figure in the water. It stayed there looking through the algae ridden glass. You could only see a face, black and blue scales on its cheekbones and jaw. It looked human, but at the same time, you knew it wasn't. Its alluring golden eyes, shining in the water, staring into your own. Its eyes were soulless.
By the time you blinked, it was gone.
You stood up, wanting to go closer to the small tank behind the bar. Making your way behind the bar, you were stopped by a strong hand pulling your shoulder back. "What are you doing here?" You turned to see a man who held your shoulder with a firm grip, his eyes staring straight into yours.
Oh, if looks could kill.
"I uhh.." Your mind went blank as you stepped back a bit, away from the man. He looked annoyed while you struggled to let the words out. By this time, you forgot what just happened moments ago.
"Answer my question" He spoke quietly but sternly, letting go of your shoulder but moving a step closer to make sure you can't run away.
"I was waiting for-"
"Yoongi-Hyung, what are you doing?? Leave the poor girl alone, you'll give her a heart attack" You sighed in relief as you saw Jimin walk up to the bar.
'You know this girl?" He spoke in a serious tone, you remembered what Taehyung said earlier about the Bartender, I guess this is him.
Jimin nodded, leaning on the bar. "Her name is Y/N, she's the new recruit Hoseok was telling us about" Jimin looks over at you with a charming smile while you take the opportunity to escape the bar and onto Jimin's side.
Yoongi looked at you and then back at Jimin, "well get outta here will you, the aquarium opens up soon”.
You nodded and Jimin just smirks before looking over at you "Come on Y/N, we have a busy day ahead of us" He stands up, grabbing your hand, giving you his signature smile before leading you out of the food court and down the hall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third Person POV
"I can't believe we are opening up the aquarium a day after we caught it, what if it escapes?!" Hoseok looked down at the ground continuously tapping his foot on the ground as he leaned on the bookshelf in the office. Namjoon sat there in the chair in front of him.
"Don't worry, it can't escape" Namjoon reassured him and then continued.
"We have reason to believe it got stuck in an old tunnel filled with water that was built throughout the aquarium. We constructed the tunnel ages ago for the public and we were going to add glass windows to it, so you can look through the tunnel. However, the construction wasn't going as planned and we halted the idea."
"So, it's just swimming in a small tunnel throughout the aquarium walls with no way out? Like a maze? In pitch-black darkness?" Hoseok widened his eyes, he never heard of such a thing.
"You have nothing to worry about, the tunnel that he swam through to get in the aquarium was connected to the ocean, but we blocked it off as soon as we found out he swam in it. He's stuck in there."
"Are you certain? Have you swum through the tunnel yourself? How do you know there's no other way he can reach the other aquariums for the public to see?" Hoseok said, his voice raised. He walked up to the front of the desk, his hands crossed, Namjoon could sense his doubt radiating off of him.
"Before this place was opened to the public, I got some divers to check it out, it has no pockets or windows. It's pitch black down there" he tried to reassure Hoseok again. Namjoon looked up at Hoseok and he nodded, uncrossing his arms.
"Let's hope he doesn't go too crazy down there, we'll have to get him out soon." He continued, "Oh, by the way, Jackson called. He said yes to the deal." Hoseok
"Good. We will prepare the creature for transport soon".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a busy day.
You sat off to the side as Jimin stood in his wetsuit on the platform of the dolphin's tank. He had a big smile stretched across his face as he instructed the dolphins while the crowd watched from the bleachers. With every flick of his hand, the dolphins would jump up in the air and the echoes of cheering would fill the small arena. You had a bucket of fish with you and you watched as each dolphin would come up to you after doing a trick. You sat on the side of the tank, you were visible to the public eye, but they weren't paying attention to you. It was sad really, you knew what went on in aquariums. How ironic that you want to be free yourself when working at an establishment that rejects freedom. You looked at the next dolphin that swam your way, it seemed weaker than the others. You went closer to the tank and sat on the edge. It slowly swam up to you, it was at that very moment that you saw a gash stretched out on its back. It wasn't bleeding, and you could easily see that it’s been there for a while.
You looked up at Jimin in worry although he didn't take notice. He held the microphone as he catered to the audience. You looked back at the dolphin and reached a fish from the bucket. Perhaps it was self-inflicted somehow. You heard that stuff can happen in aquariums. You watched the dolphin gently swim away, back down into the water, following the strict routine that was given to them before the show.
After the show ended, you still couldn't get that dolphin out of your head. Its empty expression in its eyes is still burned in your mind. All the hope and optimism you once associated with dolphins was now gone.
You stood there in the tiny tin room out the back of the aquarium near the dolphin tank, cleaning buckets of fish that were now empty. Jimin left you and went to go help another co-worker and gave you the task of cleaning out buckets that radiated the smell of decaying fish. You remember the innocent smile he gave you when he asked you for this little favour. It was your job, you couldn't say no - and he knew that.
"Thanks, Y/N! I owe you" Jimin yelled out, waving his hand as he ran off.
It was around 4 pm when you finished cleaning. Your body felt tired from the long day and you and Jimin were headed to the bar.
As you stepped into the food court the feeling you had before suddenly crept through your body. You shivered, and a sudden feeling of dread came upon you. It was weird, you didn't even think about the incident after it happened. Like you suddenly forgot about it. But now, as you slowly walk up towards the bar, you felt a chill encompassed around your bones.
Jimin sat down on the stool on the bar and placed a hand under his chin. He looked up at Yoongi with a smirk, "So, how's business?". Yoongi took a glance up at the both of you and looked back down again, wiping the bar down.
"It was pretty slow today. It was weird, I expected more people to come" Yoongi said quietly. You sat down next to Jimin and crossed your arms over the bar, letting your head rest gently on your arms.
"Hey, I just cleaned that" Yoongi looked over at you but after the day you had, you couldn't care less. You replied with a monotone "sorry" but stayed in your current position. He could tell that you were tired and surprisingly enough, he didn't push it.
"So, you remember that key I gave to you right? The one I found?" Jimin straightened up at Yoongi's words and looked over at you for a split second.
"Yeah I remember, what about it?" Yoongi sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well I need it back" Jimin looked confused, "but I thought you found it, that it had no meaning to you. That's why you gave it to me in the first place"
Yoongi sighed, "To be honest it was actually Hoseok's. I was curious to know what it's for, so I gave it to you. I didn't realise you wouldn't tell me after you found out. Still, after all these years, you haven't told me! To think, I was the one who gave you the key in the first place". Yoongi grabbed a glass from under the bar and shoved some ice in it before filling it up with apple juice. He passed it to you as if to tell you that he still remembers that you're here.
Jimin rolled his eyes, "Yeah, you gave me the key because you were too lazy to figure it out on your own".
"The point is, I need it. Where is it?" Yoongi looked somewhat anxious as he wiped down the bar for the third time.
Jimin shrugs, reaching his arm over to take your drink from the table that you haven't touched.
It’s too sweet. He sipped it casually and looked over at you before landing his eyes towards Yoongi again. "I don't know, I threw it away, I found no use for it".
Yoongi crossed his arms frowned, "that's bullshit, you are lying, and you know it, you've always been a bad liar". Yoongi then looks at you, your arms still crossed as you lay your head there, if they didn't know any better, they would have assumed you were asleep. Except you laid there, silently listening.
Jimin then also frowns, "look I don't know what to tell you, it's been years since you gave me that thing. The truth is, I lost it." Jimin looks up at Yoongi but Yoongi scoffs.
"So, you threw it away or lost it? Come on Jimin, just give it to me, I know you have it". Yoongi looked right through Jimin's eyes, you looked over at both of them, you could tell there was tension in the air.
Jimin was silent and Yoongi sighed grabbing the drink that you obviously weren’t going to finish and pouring it into the sink before placing the glass in the dishwasher under the bar.
Yoongi spoke quietly but you could tell that his words held a lot of weight, "Promise me".
Jimin looked up, "I don't get why you are so obsessed with this key, I don't even have it!"
"Promise me that you don't have it" Yoongi looked at him, his facial expression was the look of hurt more than anything. You could tell that there was more to this than what Yoongi was letting on. You sat there next to them, waiting for Jimin to spill the beans about giving the key to you.
Jimin was hesitant for a second before strongly responding, "I promise I don't have it." Yoongi stood there silent before nodding, mumbling a soft "sorry" under his lips before going back to cleaning the bar, even though he already finished.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't believe you lied for me," You spoke as you walked around the dolphin tank outside, Jimin walking beside you.
"I didn't lie. I don't have it. You do." Jimin smiled at you brightly, although you could tell that something was bothering him. You both kept walking before Jimin looked at his watch, "I'm sorry I got to go, feel free to stay here as long as you want, Namjoon doesn't mind us staying after hours. Although you do realise our shift ended an hour ago, right?" Jimin smiled brightly as he looked down at you, his eyes shining in the moonlight.
You chuckled, "Yes I knew, I just like your company. Thanks for being there for me. I haven't known you long, but you made me feel comfortable on my first day" You smiled, it seemed like you and Jimin were going to become really good friends.
"I'll always be here Y/N... Anyways I'll see you at work tomorrow yeah? Have a nice night" Jimin waved goodbye and walked away.
You sighed, reaching for the key from your pocket.
"Might as well check it out while I still can?" You thought.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was late, really late and you found yourself questioning Jimin's earlier statement about being allowed here after hours. You wandered through the halls of the aquarium, following the directions Jimin and Taehyung showed you last time, careful not to make any loud noises to gain any attention.
The halls were cold, and you could hear were the sounds of your heels tapping against the hard floor. While walking, you felt your chest become heavy, looking around you started to hear weird sounds coming from the walls. You shrugged it off however, you've been in aquariums long enough to know that it could be anything and that it's never completely quiet.
Finally reaching your destination you head down the metal steps. You've never been to this part of the building apart from when Jimin and Taehyung took you, you suppose it's for private personnel only. Continuing down the steps you reach the door to the moonpool, the sounds of water can be heard dripping and sloshing from behind. Inserting the keys and turning the metal handle you slowly walked inside. It was darker than the last time you saw it. What was surprising was the glow worms on the roof of the moonpool illuminating the moonpool and stone walls that surrounded it. You didn't see them during the day. They were beautiful.
Walking along the gravel towards the moonpool, you took off shoes your socks and placed your backpack next to the moonpool. You sat on the edge, dipping your legs in as you rolled up your pants, so they don't get wet. You closed your eyes, feeling the water reach up to your kneecaps. The water was lukewarm, and the smell of sea salt radiating off of it.
What a long day.
If you were being honest, all of this was too much for you. You never thought you would say this, but you miss home. You miss Marina's cooking and weirdly enough, you miss your mother. She hasn't called, even texted since you left. You felt like you thought this would be different, the people here are nice but every so often you get reminded about the flaws of this world, the treatment of animals, – the dolphin – the uneasiness you felt about Julie and her intentions. Even Jimin and Yoongi, you didn’t want to cause a fight between them because of some stupid key.
The water had suddenly started to turn cold, starting from your feet you feel a rush of icy water spread to your knees, eliminating any prior warmth you felt. The dripping stopped, the sloshing of the water halted. You opened your eyes curiously to see a figure from the other side of the moonpool staring right at you. You looked right in its eyes. Time stopped, and you could barely see anything else but the wide golden piercing gaze of the creature. You sat there frozen in place. You don't know how long you stayed like this for, but it took a while to realise what was happening. It didn't say a word, but you could tell by its knowing facial expression that it somehow knows who you are. Looking down in the now murky water you could see an outline of a human’s body, his muscles and broad shoulders prominent underneath the dark blue scales that stretched over its torso. You continued to examine the long outline of a tale - a big tale at that - with the front looking slimy however you could guess that the back of the tale was sharp enough to cut through any piece of flesh that it would encounter. One aspect of the creature that seemed almost beautiful were some parts of his scales that were brighter than others, acting as a highlighter around his cheekbones and arms.
You didn't want to make any sudden movements, frightened that the creature would drag you under. Eat you. Kill you. You decided that it was now or never and spoke quietly under your breath, looking back up at its eyes that never left yours. "Hi, my name is Y/N". Your breath was shaky, and your lips were dry.
"It probably can't even understand you," You thought to yourself.
The creature stopped staring into your eyes and lowered its focus to your legs that were swaying in the water. You shivered, the cold air getting to you. Goosebumps appeared on your legs and arms and you could have sworn you sore the remnant of a smirk that appeared on its lips.
You suddenly had an idea.
Carefully, you looked up at the creature, "I'm just going to grab something out from my backpack, okay?" Slowly you stretched your arm out towards your backpack while maintaining eye contact with the creature. The creature stayed still, however you knocked something metal in your bag and it made a loud noise that echoed throughout the moonpool. The creature’s facial expression turned darker and it went full force towards you, grabbing your calves as it didn't let you go. It was close to your face, its golden eyes peering into yours as you could feel its grip and claws on your legs tighten, its body between your thighs leaning in on you. You breathed in slowly, feeling almost petrified, but somehow you knew the creature didn't mean any harm. It looked over at your hand that was inside your backpack. You waited a few seconds before slowly, lifting your hand out of the bag, to reveal a container of prawns that was meant to be your lunch today.
The creature's grip loosened from your calves as it watched you open the container, taking a prawn before slowly reaching over to the creature's lips. One of its hands let go of your calf as it held your hand, guiding it towards its lips before it opened its mouth biting the prawns head off. You looked at the creature, a little startled. Its teeth were sharper than a normal human, like razors. In fact, you looked closely at the details of the creature's face, noticing the similarities to that of a human. Everything was the same except for the scales on the sides of his face, neck and on his cheekbones. The outline of his eyes was darker though, making his golden eyes brighter than usual. It had brown locks of hair, wet but you could see it was starting to dry. He resembled a male in his 20s.
He finished the prawn quickly and looked back at the container, wanting more. You spoke softly, "have more if you would like".
He looked down at your hand and then back up at you as if it was asking you to feed him again. His grip on one of your calves was softer and you could feel his thumb running circles over your calf. You grabbed another prawn, reaching over to his lips as he was careful not to cut your fingers with his teeth as he ate the prawn.
You sat there, feeding him the rest as he grew more comfortable around you. His hand reached out of the water towards the gravel next to your thigh as he spelled out the words "Jungkook" on the gravel.
"Jungkook?" You questioned, "is that your name?". Jungkook looked up at you before placing his hand on your thigh.
"Yes", he answered. Your eyes widen in shock, you didn't think he could understand you. You frowned and asked him curiously, "could you understand me this whole time?".
He smirked slightly, "I'm not the best at this human language but yes, yes I could" He looked up at you, his eyes shining. You frowned, feeling a little messed around with since he could have at least answered you the many times you spoke to him. But then again you understood, he doesn't know you, and you don't know him.
His grip on your calf and thigh tightened as he started to pull you in the water. You freaked, holding on to the edge of the moonpool. "Wait, wait, wait! I can't get these clothes wet and I uhh, have to get going soon..." Jungkook frowned but stopped pulling. He let go of you.
"Promise me you'll come back?" He looked at you with a sad expression, lowering himself in the water.
You looked down at him as you took your legs out of the water and grabbed your bag with your shoes and socks.
"I promise"

“Come take a walk with us, babe.” Henry said, standing by the front door, holding Kal's leash in his hand as he regarded you. “You've been cooped up inside for the last three months.”
“I'm fine, Puppy.” You chuckled at him, sitting cross legged on the couch, knitting, yet another blanket since quarantine started.
Henry narrowed his eyes at you, setting the leash down and moved around the couch, carefully taking the yarn and knitting needles from you and setting them in the yarn basket he got you. “Come on, it'll be fun. You know how much Kal loves it when you come with us.” He cooed, coaxing you off the couch and up onto your feet.
Kal came around the couch, nudging his thick body against your legs, as if to say, Yes, come with us!
Chuckling at your boys, you stood up on your toes to kiss Henry on the cheek. “All right, I'll come. Let me change.” You gave in, then rushed up stairs to get dressed and pulled on your coat.
Grinning at you, Henry put Kal on his leash and the three of you stepped out into the mid-morning light. You hooked your arm with Henry's, gently leaning into his side as you walked down the sidewalk with him, Kal walking proudly before the both of you. The morning air was fresh and cool, so crisp inside your lungs as you breathed it in, letting out a soft moan as you let it out. Henry smiled at you sweetly, leaning in to kiss your temple, then broke away, feeling the strong yank of Kal's leash as the Bear spotted a squirrel out on its daily scavenge.
“Easy, Bear.” Henry called to the Akita, wrapping the leash more securely around his hand and pulling back on it, trying to get him under control. “Leave the poor creature alone.” He chuckled as Kal continued to pull on his leash, watching the squirrel scurry up a nearby tree.
“One day, bud.” You smiled at Kal, leaning down to scratch his back, distracting him away from the squirrel long enough for it to vanish into the leafy canopy.
The three of you resumed your stroll, there were very few people out and about, which was nice, it meant there wasn't a chance for paparazzi or a fan asking for a photo or an autograph. It was the bliss of being just the three of you on a walk, on a beautiful day. You stopped to watch a pair of ducks waddle to the edge of a pond in the park Henry had led you and Kal into, not far from the house, and drop in, sailing through the water like a hot knife through butter. But, while you watched the ducks and Kal decided to quench his thirst with pond water, Henry's loving and devoted blue eyes were on you, smiling softly, with a loving wonder that asked, how did I get this woman to be mine?
You felt his eyes on you and looked up at him, smiling back, seeing that look in his eyes. You had caught Henry looking at you that way so many times over your relationship together, it gave you butterflies and made you feel like the only person in the whole world. Henry smiled more, cupping your cheek with his free hand and bent his head, capturing your lips with his. Kal looked up at his humans, water dripping from his mouth, and seeing you both were distracted, promptly pounced into the pond, jerking Henry's unprepared arm and nearly knocking the both of you to the ground and dragging Henry into the pond with him, making a mad dash for the ducks; who quaked their offense, incessantly.
“Kal!” Henry barked, standing in almost knee deep water. “Really, Bear?” He huffed, frustrated. “Couldn't you have at least caught one?” He asked, trudging them both out of the pond. “Are you getting a good chuckle out of this?” Henry asked, lifting a brow at you, as you doubled over with laughter.
“Very much.” You laughed, nodding your head, wheezing, you were so out of breath from laughing at him. “Now, both of you need a bath.” You chuckled, snorting at your boys as they stood at the edge of the pond, dripping.
Henry's trainers squeaked and squelched as the three of you returned to the house, Kal flinging water every so often as he shook his thick body. Getting back into the house, you took Henry's soaked shoes, socks and sweatpants into the laundry room, tossing them into the dryer, before going upstairs to help Henry give Kal a bath. Henry had Kal standing in the shower when you got up there, messing with the hot and cold taps until the water was warm enough, then hosed him down with it, getting bits of leaves, pond algae and mud out of his coat and off his paws. You pulled out the oatmeal and coconut two in one dog shampoo from under the sink and knelt beside Henry, squeezing some of the shampoo into his hand, then into yours, and helped him scrub the bear from snout to curly tail.
“Take cover!” Henry laughed, grabbing the shower curtain and used it as a shield, just in time for Kal to shake his soapy body, sending suds all over the place, making you laugh with him. “At least let us rinse you off.” He chuckled, turning the shower head back on and washed the soap off of Kal.
After several more shakes and three towels, Kal was dry enough to be let out of the bathroom, and you and Henry cleaned up the bathroom.
“Thanks for coming on a walk with us.” He said, kissing your temple. “It's been a long time since we enjoyed a stroll together.”
“It has, hasn't it.” You replied, bundling up the wet towels. “I forgot how peaceful it was.” You said, going downstairs to toss the towels in the dryer with his clothing. “Just me and my boys in the sunshine.”
Henry grinned at you, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulled you in against his body, head bowing to capture your lips in a sweet kiss. You sighed softly through your nose, wrapping your arms around his neck and pushing up on your toes, fingers caressing through his hair.
“Come on our walk this afternoon?” He asked against your lips.
“As long as the two of you don't go swimming in the pond again.” You grinned, teasingly.
“Oh, if we do, you're definitely joining us.” He chuckled, squeezing his arms around your waist and picked you up off your feet, kissing you again.

The Mandalorian hadn’t expected to chase his bounty clear to Yavin 8, a tundra moon orbiting a gas giant. His bounty, a human by the name of Cornelis Offkin, had taken a beating from the Mandalorian’s Razor Crest, forcing the man to crash-land on the arid moon near the purple mountains ridging the surface.
Din didn’t have time to appreciate the dry beauty of the place. His bounty was somewhere here, his tracks plain in the scanner built into Din’s helmet. He followed the illuminated footprints through the dense wood at the base of the mountain range, rifle slung over his back, blaster at his hip. Strange, cloying smells wafted up into his helmet as he stepped on dense underbrush.
As he neared the base of the mountain range, Din slowed beside a small pond, confused by the footprints he was seeing. Offkin had seemed to stop, then spun around quickly, scattering dirt and detritus. Then a mad scramble deeper into the trees before sprawling to the ground.
Din scanned the area. Had Offkin been attacked? The ground beside the bounty’s footprints had been smoothed by something that had either remerged or entered the still pond. The surface of the water remained smooth.
Din reached for his blaster.
Water sprayed in all directions. Din glimpsed green-black eyes and large fangs before he was on his back, half in the creature’s mouth. Rearing back, it dragged him off the ground easily. Pain lanced up Din’s thigh, excruciating. Stifling a scream, Din tried to pull free his blaster.
The serpentine creature tossed its head back, opening its jaw wider. Din felt himself slipping further into the creature’s throat. He had never considered that he might die to a creature rather than some bounty. At least he knew the fate of Offkin.
An ear-piercing screech blasted the Mandalorian’s ears. The serpentine creature writhed, hissing.
Din glanced up to see huge wings spreading from behind the creature. Oh great, it flies, he thought.
A giant beak peered over the top of the creature’s head, followed by the predatory eyes of a raptor. Din caught his own reflection in the volucrine creature’s pupils before he was suddenly falling.
The serpentine creature rose above him, borne aloft by the avian animal.
Din hit the water hard.
~~
Din gasped for air, choking up water in his helmet and inhaling it in again. Sputtering, lungs screaming, he shoved the helmet up a fraction and spewed the water out and down his chin, breathing air. It burned in his throat, but he sucked it up greedily, only distantly noting the musty mildew smell and taste of it.
When his lungs stopped aching, he breathed easier and took stock of his surroundings. Dimly lit by bioluminescent plants, the cave in which he sat appeared endless. Stalactites hung down from the ceiling, reflected vertiginously in a dark pool to his right.
Eyeing the water warily, he slowly rose to his feet, checking his weapons. Everything was where they were supposed to be. He tried to make sense of how he had arrived in this place, the last thing he remembered being the water engulfing him.
The stalactite reflection rippled. He tensed, ripping out his blaster from its holster. The ripples slowed near the edge of the pool. Din aimed, ready to kill.
A head tentatively emerged from the water, humanoid. Din found himself staring into your eyes as your chin lifted above the waterline. In the bioluminescent light, your face was limned in soft green.
“Hello.” It was all the Mandalorian could think to say.
“Hello,” you echoed. Your voice sounded like a trickling waterfall.
“What is this place?”
“Home.”
“Okay. How do I leave?”
You shook your head. “The reels are out. They hunt.” You spoke in Galactic Basic haltingly. “Not safe.”
“I have to get back to my ship.”
“Wait here.”
Din frowned. He wouldn’t be able to collect the bounty on Offkin, which meant he needed to find a new bounty as soon as possible. He couldn’t wait around losing credits. “How did I get here?”
“One of young ones found you. Brought you here to safety. The reel was not alone in the water.”
He pictured the serpentine creature writhing in fury and pain above him. Shivering, he suddenly remembered the wound in his leg. Glancing down, he found it wrapped in some kind of plant, covered thickly in a dark paste. The latter smelled atrocious, but the wound felt cool, his leg flexible.
“How long do I have to wait?” he asked.
“Sunrise. Reels and avrils sleep.” You made a motion with your hands, imitating wings.
Sighing, Din sat back down, trying to think his way out of the problem. The snake-like thing—the reel, he corrected—had caught him in the water. Looking around the cave, all he could see beside the smooth rock walls was water.
“How do I get out?” he asked again. “How did I get in?”
You patted the top of the water’s surface, sending ripples across the water. “Through lakes.”
It took him a long moment to realize what you meant. One of your people had dragged him through a system of underground lakes to this hidden cave. The only exit was through the reel-infested water.
Sighing again, he leaned up against the rock behind him and gently massaged feeling back into his wounded leg. He felt your gaze on him trying to bore through his helmet.
She may think it’s my actual face, a little voice inside him said.
“Why here?” you asked, propping your arms on the shore of the pool. He watched in disbelief as something crested the surface of the water behind you: a fin.
“I was…tracking someone. The reel got him.”
You frowned but nodded. Din was mesmerized by the fin, watched it slowly move back and forth like a woman moving her legs.
“Rest. I come later to take you to your ship.”
“Thank you.”
With a smile, you pushed back from the edge and slipped back into the water, your fin flashing. Din thought about it for half an hour before sleep took him under.
~~
He wasn’t confident about being dragged through interconnected lakes. He didn’t have a water-breathing apparatus built into his helmet, and he wasn’t sure he could hold his breath long enough.
When you reemerged from the water, the water hovering just below your collarbone and no further, you hefted up a handful of blue-green algae.
“What is that?”
“To help breathe in water.” You mimed placing it over your mouth and nose. “Breathe little.”
Anxiety slithering up his spine, Din took the algae and turned away, lifting the helmet to plaster the slimy material over his mouth and nose. His heart stuttered in his chest, telling him he couldn’t breathe through the pond scum. Fighting it, he resettled the helmet over his head.
He found you had searching a hand from the water, reaching for him. Hesitating, he looked into your deep eyes, looking for deception. He found only an open and honest expression. Taking your hand, he let you lead him into the water. The chill sent a shiver through him as he went deeper into the water, his clothes and armor weighing him down.
You held onto him easily, wrapping your arms around his torso. Panic seized him again as you kicked hard, sending you both careering through a hole in the cave wall beneath the water. He blinked against the burn of it in his eyes as you maneuvered through the tunnels connecting the lakes.
He fought the urge to breathe despite the ache in his lungs. The algae stayed firmly in place despite the water sloshing up under the helmet. He felt stuck in a fishbowl, watching as the world rushed by, dragged along in a current with you acting as pilot and rudder.
At last, he gasped in a breath. No water entered, only a small puff of oxygen pulled off the slimy algae. He held his breath again, focusing on the feel of your arms around him, trying to lose himself in the comfort of being held for the first time since…ever.
Then you were breaking the surface, emerging into a sunlit glade. Kicking gracefully over to the shore, you pushed him onto the ground. Din turned and yanked off the algae, breathing fresh air. The Razor Crest stood a little ways off, its surface gleaming dully in the morning light.
“Safe,” you assured him, gesturing up at the sky. “No avril.”
“Thank you.”
You nodded. “Travel safe.”
He almost laughed. “I try.”
You flipped back into the water, your finned tail arcing behind you. The light glittered off your scales in a flash of brilliance.
Din didn’t leave until the water returned to stillness. The image of you disappearing beneath it would haunt him for years.

Trouvaille Short Story
m!Trouvaille
tw: swearing, mild violence
~
This trip started out very simple. Go into the forest, gather spell ingredients, then get out. Getting dragged underwater by a sticky horse was not part of the plan.
While the others were searching for normal herbs like tarragon, nutmeg, or wormwood, you and Antigone waded knee deep in a wide pond. Morning sunlight streamed through the trees, casting an ethereal glow on the water’s surface.
“Remind me again what you need curly pondweed for?” you call out to her.
The witch doesn’t look up from her task when answering, “They promote growth in spells. And encourage perseverance.”
The plant itself was plentiful. Too plentiful, as she told you earlier that it was an invasive species. But every time you thought you found a good stem, Antigone waved you off, stating that your pick was too dark or too old or too tough.
You straighten up and stretch out your aching back. Tedium aside, the forest was beautiful in the morning. Red dragonflies skimmed the surface, creating ripples that jostled the aquatic flora. The natural song of chirping crickets and croaking frogs sounded throughout the clearing. At the water’s edge, a few meters to your right, you can see a dark figure among the cattails. It’s wide, but short, and moving slightly.
When you get closer, you can make out the creature’s long gray mane and thick black body. There are mossy spots and algae strewn across its body. It looks like it lives near the pond, but something about it seemed out of place in the tranquil forest.
“Um, Antigone?” you try to keep your voice down.
“What?”
“Are there supposed to be ponies in the forest?” You take your eyes off the animal to glance at her over your shoulder.
Her head snaps up and she drops the flat woven basket she’d been holding.
“Shit!”
Before either of you can react, the pony whinnies, rears up, and charges you. You’re too slow to dodge and it rams into you. Instead of sending you flying, you find yourself stuck to its flank as it dives deeper into the pond.
The pond is much deeper than expected and every few feet, the water gets colder and darker. Light brown sediment billows up as the probably-not-actually-a-pony settles into the bottom.
The surprise attack, along with your wildly thumping heart means you’re losing air fast and the creature doesn’t seem like it’ll surface any time soon. Your elbow is fastened tight to the creature’s side. If you can just get to your dagger!
You open your eyes and regret it. The sting of the dirty water only hinders you more. You can’t see anything more than two feet in front of you clearly.
Panic sets in and you thrash and kick, desperately trying to separate from the creature. Its skin’s adhesive surface clings onto you. The harder you thrash, the more you pull at your own skin and clothes.
They say to be completely calm if you’re ever being held underwater, but the proverbial “they” are stupid and clearly have never been drowned before.
Black spots dance across your vision. Your lungs burn and your head starts to ache. Great. The artifact wouldn’t kill you. Nor would vampires or werewolves or any other badass way to die. No, you’re a lucky one. You get to die via drowning, stuck to this thing like gum on the bottom of someone’s shoe.
The pony flinches and so do you. It kicks up sediment in its panic. You get tossed around along with it until you feel a small hand on your shoulder. Sharp claws dig into you as it drags you away from the pony.
You can finally make out Antigone’s silhouette as she pulls you close. She presses her lips to yours. Air fills your lungs. Your vision and headache settle, and the burning sensation in your lungs subsides.
A blast of light breaks through your clenched eyelids. Her mouth is on yours again, breathing life into you. For some reason, though, she doesn’t do anything else. Just sits there and keeps breathing into you whenever your lungs start to burn again.
There’s a heavy splash above you. The cold sediment kicks up again and tiny bubbles pepper your face.
Someone hooks their arms under your armpits and the next thing you know, you’re being dragged up the bank of the pond.
Head spinning, you cough up what feels like gallons of water. In your delirium, you think you hear your name.
“There you are!” a familiar voice cries.
You rub your eyes and look up.
T.V. takes a step towards you, then stops. You want to tell him you’re alright, but Jackie grabs you in a bone-crushing hug.
Her clothes are soaking wet.
“We saw the basket floating in the pond! What the hell happened!?”
You hack more water and algae out of your lungs.
“Water pony,” you wheeze out.
“Huh?”
“Kelpie,” Antigone says through violent coughs. Despite her having been the one to save you, she seems much worse for wear. Dakota white-knuckles her hand.
“Kelpies are shapeshifters.” He pants, also soaking wet. T.V. is the only one bone dry. “They take the form of a pony or horse and drown people for fun,” he explains. “What happened?”
You take a deep breath, “It dragged me down underwater. Antigone came to save me.”
Dakota’s eyes widen as he grabs the witch by the shoulders.
“You did what? Are you high?” he demands.
“Wait, hang on!” Jackie interjects. “What’s the problem here? She kept them both alive until we got there!”
Dakota crosses his arms. “The problem here is that Annie can’t--!”
Antigone cuts him off. “What was I supposed to do? Let the kid drown?” she rasps and shrugs off her knit sweater.
“Of course not! I just--” Groaning, he buries his face into her neck. Antigone allows the touch and strokes his hair gently. Her tired gaze flickers over to you. Jackie’s concerned voice steals your attention.
“Let’s get you back to the shop,” she says, holding a hand out to you.
You clasp her hand and the two of you pull in tandem. The moment you put weight on your feet, searing pain shoots up your leg.
The ground rushes up to meet you, then stops when a pair of strong arms wrap around your middle.
As soon as their fingertips make contact, your head erupts in a pain like someone took an axe to it. There’s a ringing in your ears and you cry out.
Whoever’s holding you lets go and you hit the mud, writhing in agony.
“I— I’m so sorry!” T.V. manages through his groans of pain, hands clenched tightly to the sides of his head.
It feels like your skull is full of liquid metal. The cool water of the pond is tempting all of a sudden, kelpie and all.
Antigone presses a cool hand to your forehead and whispers something in a language you can’t understand.
Your head is still heavy, but the white hot pain ebbs.
She crawls over to Trouvaille to give him the same treatment. His agony seems to decrease faster than yours.
Through your delirium, you hear her snap at him, “That was unbelievably stupid!”
“I know,” he replies, rubbing his temples.
“You know? Mistakes like that can be fatal. Do not let your bleeding heart be the reason you both die.”
Carefully avoiding her eyes, he says, “I know. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t talk to him like that!” you protest through the pain.
“Shut up,” she snaps. “I don’t need one idiot defending another idiot.”
Jackie crosses her arms, “Very original with the insults.”
“I’m just calling them as they are. If they feel insulted, that’s on them.”
You clench your teeth, “He said he was sorry!”
“Sorry won’t bring back the dead,” she says directly at Trouvaille. Rounding on you, she says, “Let me take a look at that ankle.”
Your left ankle is inflamed and is taking on an angry red color. It must have happened when the kelpie hit you. The throbbing pain only grows as the adrenaline flushes from your veins.
She pokes an especially puffy part.
“Ow, fuck!” you cry out, hands grabbing onto your injured leg. “Why would you touch it!?”
“Punishment for being too slow to dodge the thing,” she deadpans.
“You think getting nearly drowned wasn’t enough punishment?”
“No.”
Thankfully, the poking ceases. A purple light emits from her clawed hand. She hovers over your ankle.
“Well, that is going to need a splint.” She retracts her hand.
“You can mend ribs but you can’t unsprain an ankle?” Jackie demands.
“For one thing, ‘unsprain’ is not a word. Second, normal treatment would take weeks. I can make it a few days. Any other grievances, hotshot?”
“Maybe if you were paying attention, oh powerful witch, you could have done something before it got this bad!” she shoots back.
The witch’s mercury eyes narrow. “You want to blame me for this?”
“I do. What are you gonna do about it?” Jackie takes a step forward.
“Don’t pick fights you can’t win, you little--” Antigone begins.
Dakota nudges her.
“We should head back.” They share a tense look, but she ultimately backs down. Then he turns to you, “Can I carry you?”
You nod in agreement. He places his hands under your knees and behind your back, careful not to jostle your ankle too much.
As he stands up, he takes on a comically cheerful tone. “Thank you flying Dakota Airlines! Please fasten your seatbelts and keep all electronics stored away until we reach cruising altitude.”
“Does this flight have snacks?” you jokingly ask.
“Check my pocket!”
You reach down into his kangaroo pouch and pull out a waterlogged 4 pak of Nutter Butters.
You raise an eyebrow. “You just carry these around?”
He shrugs. “I’m a growing boy.”
“You’re 25.”
“Okay? And?”
You chuckle. On the trek back to the car, you look over his shoulder to see sunlight glimmering off of caramel hair. Trouvaille strolls several feet behind you. He gives you a weak smile but makes no attempt to get any closer.
Reaching out for him, you beckon him closer. Not to touch, but you don’t like the wide berth he gives you.
He shakes his head. ‘I’m sorry,’ he mouths.
‘Don’t be.’
His smile doesn’t reach his eyes. Instead of coming to you, he speeds up to catch up to Jackie.
The few seconds that he’s near when he passes by makes your hair stand on end. You almost reach out to stop him. You don’t. You can’t. Dakota readjusts you in his arms. After making sure everyone’s out of earshot he finds your gaze.
“Try not to be too mad at Annie. She just wants to keep all of us safe,” he says.
You briefly wondered if he swallowed too much pond water.
“You make it sound like she cares,” you grumble.
“She does. She really does. You know how if you don’t socialize dogs at a young age, they have trouble with other dogs later on? She’s like that.”
Raising an eyebrow, you reply, “Would she be mad at you comparing her to a dog?”
“Not if you don’t tell her.”
You chuckle and look ahead to see the three of them walking side by side. Trouvaille turn his head slightly. For a moment, you lock eyes before he pointedly turns back around. Your heart reaches out for someone who won’t reach back.
“Hey,” Dakota recaptures your attention. “Sometimes the people we care about decide for themselves that we’re better off without them. Those people are amazingly stubborn, but we love them anyway. Probably because we like pain, but whatever.” Up ahead, Jackie jokes around with T.V. while Antigone keeps her distance off to the side. “I just...” you sigh. “I don’t know what I think. I tell him I’m fine and I’m not afraid to get hurt, but he still pushes me away.” “I think that half of it is protecting himself. You may not be afraid of getting hurt, but he might be. Give him space, but let him know he can come to you.” “Easier said than done.”
Dakota shrugs. “Just know that these things take time. And patience. So much patience.” You glance back and forth between him and the group ahead.
“Why do you sound like you speak from experience?”
He grimaces, “If I said I don’t know what you’re taking about, would you believe me?”
“No.”
“Fair enough.”
Your gaze drifts between the trio in front of you.
“You can’t possibly--”
He cuts you off, “Wow, wouldya look at that! We’re at the car! Everyone please place your tray tables in the up position while we begin our descent!”
Trouvaille and Antigone are locked in a tense conversation. They stop to watch your approach until the witch mutters something and relinquishes her claim to the passenger seat. T.V. slides into the car without sparing you a glance.

Marin's perspective: Life Under the Sea
I'm still trying to write my other storys and my mind wanted more of tiny mer.
(Safe, soft, vore, g/t, willing prey, semi willing pred, mer prey)
Word Count: 3084
"Come out Marin and we'll take it easy on you"
Marin held himself as tight as he could against the coral, his blue hair waiving with the blue algae it was pressed up against. His joints felt like they were about to snap as he griped the coral branch even harder when the three other mers swam by. He strained his eyes trying to look over his shoulder to see them. A red mer, a yellow mer, and another blue mer were checking the branches and in small crevices inside the trees. His breathing quickened and he could feel his heart beating out of his chest when he didn't see the fourth mer. His eyes darted to the other side of his head. Amara's purple hair swaying in the water next to his head and a light purple hand tapped his chest.
A "Found you"
M "Come on. Why are you always the one to find me"
A "Bacuse I'm the only one who know what to look for"
R "You found him again?"
B "Let Marin be the hunter again"
Y "Mom doesn't want Marin to be the hunter anymore, remember"
M "It's beacuse I suck at it"
A "No, you don't-"
R "Ya your horrible at it"
M "Wow, thanks"
After a while longer of playing their parents called them back, there was no sense of time underwater, but everyone was still getting tired. Their parents had to be the ones to make sure that they didn't get hurt and when to call them back. They were their only source of protection after all. Everyone swam deeper into the forest, eventually the small town was in sight. A few bigger mers were swimming around, some with bigger and slightly squirming belly's. Some shops were opening and some were closing by the time they were entering the small town. Marin swam next to Amara and helped look for her parent's. It didn't take long to find them, Amara gave Marin a hug and a quick goodbye before she swam over to her dad and gave him a hug. He was a bright glowing green with small black lines coursing over the edges of his scales. Marin watched with a bit of envy as Amara's dad gently pulled her into his mouth after returning the hug. He swallowed a few times, her wriggling form slowly shuffled down his throat and into his stomach. Marin jumped as he felt a light hand press onto his back, he turned around and was ready to swim away. His instincts were eased when he saw Amara's mom, her deep purple scales gently rubbed at his arm. She set his head into her palm as he stared up at her.
"So I still cant get any protection anymore"
"I'm not the one getting bigger"
"I-I'm sorry"
"No, No. Don't apologize. Someday you'll be the biggest mer here. I wish I could still protect you so you could stay here, but they won't let a kid stay with no protector. I'll swim with you back to the edge if it'll make you more comfortable"
"Thanks"
Amara's mom was right, he was too big, even with his tail scrunched up he was almost her size. Marin fallowed behind her, his tail gently swayed so he wouldn't dart ahead of her, even if it was on accident. Eventually they reached the edge of the forest, Marin swam out just a bit further than her into the darkness. They said their goodbyes and Amara's mom left back into the forest. Marin staired into the darkness, he never wanted to go back but they wouldn't let him sleep in the forest. He never needed to come this far to the edge of the forest before he lost his parents. Marin swam further up the branches, his tail coiled around a branch with some fruit growing on it. He tore off a thin white strip and bit into the juicie flesh. This was the first type of food he had after he clawed his way out of safety so he wouldn't starve. He didn't like to think about it but he wasn't able to complain about what he ate. He staired back into the darkness and thought. It was only one wrong turn and he became an orphan. Marin finished his meal and returned to the ground, he's been doing this for what felt like his entire life but the horror never seemed to dwindle.
A falling branch caught his attention, Marin looked up to see a grey shark slowly approaching him. He could feel his heart start beating faster as he slowly backed away. The shark lunged at him and Marin let out a small shriek and swam as fast as he could to get away from it. He ducked under branches and into small crevices in the trees while trying to get away from the shark, it was breaking almost every branch while trying to bite at him. Marin had to find a place to hide, NOW. His instincts were going off the rails, there had to be somewhere he could go besides the town. Marin darted out into the darkness and slipped back behind a... was that a mer. Marin swam back into the darkness and checked, the shark was still following him. There it was, a pure black mer near the light of the forest. The shark almost bit his tail while he darted back into the forest. It didn't take long for Marin the reach where the other mer was. He darted out of the forest to it, they had to help him.
Marin darted under its arm, it was bigger than any mer he had seen before, maybe it could even protect him. Marin scrunched up even harder while he heard the struggles of the huge mer and the shark. He poked his head out to see what was happening, the shark was biting the bigger mers arm. He scrunched himself tighter than he thought he could when the huge mer reeled its arm back and punched the shark in the nose. The shark swam off into the blackness of the sea, it didn't take long for Marin to lose the form of the shark. He didn't want to be away from the new mer in fear that the shark would come back the second he didn't have something around him. He looked back, there wasn't a drop of blood in the water from the huge mer. The arm around him started moving upwards, Marin dashed to the other side of the huge mer, he needed to stay safe if the shark came back. The huge mer opend both of its arms, Marin dashed around the huge mer to look for a new place to hide. He was confused on why the bigger mer wouldn't hide him, every mer looks out for each other. He wrapped himself around the bigger mers neck, he didn't want to choke it but he needed to stay hidden.
After a bit, the bigger mers hands started waving around him. Marin protested a bit, eventually he let go and swam up to the bigger mers face. It... didn't look like a mer, its hair was golden but it wasn't glowing and it went to his jaw. He didn't have any scales and what looked like pinkish fruit skin wasn't even golden like his hair. Marin tried pressing his hands to its face but was stopped by some invisible force. He was trapped, that's why he kept trying to get Marin's attention. Marin swam a bit away from the giants face and readied his shoulder in front of him before swimming as fast as he could into the invisible prison. The resulting thud made him feel like his arm was going to shatter when he looked at it. The giant cupped his hands Marin and made some low growls. Marin starred up at the giant after a bit of struggling, it didn't look like any other mer he'd seen. "I-I'm sorry, I was trying to free you but now I don't know if your even trapped. I'm Marin by the way" he said while rubbing his arm.
The giant looked confused as Marin talked, could he even understand him. The giant raised a hand up to Marin, it was bigger than most of the branches on the tree's. He wrapped his tail around the arm out of instinct before he realised what he had done. There was a small orange line on the giants wrist, it almost felt like it was made out of the algae on the trees when he pressed his hands into it. The giant let out a light chuckle and some more low growls before moving towards a nearby tree. It layed down and started shoveling sand over itself. Marin looked up at him confused, why was he sleeping in the open, he would get killed and if not, couldn't he at least protect Marin. The giant gently rubbed a finger down his back, Marin recoiled at first but leaned into the warm massage. The giant made more low growls before bringing Marin down and holding him to his stomach. Marin looked up to the giant who was already trying to fall asleep, he could hear a faint growl from the stomach. The warmth emanating from the giant was staring to make Marin a little drowsy. He forced himself away from the giant and started pulling on their finger. If he could keep Marin warm then Marin would bring him somewhere warm.
The giant reluctantly got up from where it was resting and took a step towards him. Marin swam into the darkness and the giant slowly followed him. Great, he had a giant following him, now he needed to find home. Marin raced ahead, making sure that he was going in the right direction and then swimming back to make sure the giant was close behind. Eventually he found the stone wall and followed along the bottom. The giant was slowly stumbling behind him, he was deffenetly tired. Marin hoped the giant would like his home, it was huge compared to Marin and there was a constant warm water falling from the top of the cave. Marin kept swimming along the edge, the entrance had to be nearby. The orange lines were the only indication that the giant was still following him. Eventually the couldn't feel the ground and swam down, soon he could see the familiar orange light of home. He swam back to the entrance of the cave but before he could ascend, the giant fell down the hole next to him. Marin hugged the giants face, happy he could get his new friend so close to home. He was surprised when the giant grabbed him by the waist.
Marin protested and pushed at the fingers holding him. "Hey! Let me go! We're almost there, I can swim there myself!" He yelled at the giant but it didn't matter, they couldn't understand each other. Marin not so reluctantly leaned into the warm massage the giant gave with his thumb. Marin finally got a perspective on how big the giant was. The tunnel Marin used to get to his home was huge and the giant needed to almost crawl to fit through it. Soon the giant entered Marins home and let go of him. He darted over to his bed, and swam up the thin tube. He crossed his arms and watched the giant, they looked over his collection of shiny things. The giant looked up at the light hole on the ceiling and stuck its head out of the hole. The cave started to drown in darkness as the giant pulled himself out of the hole. Marin swam closer to the retreating legs of the giant and followed him threw the hole. The giant stood up in the waterless place, they looked over the empty space.
"Hey, don't leave me, I want to be up there too. Pick me up" The giant turned around while Marin grabbed at their heels. They put their hand in the water next to him, Marin quickly wrapped himself around their wrist again. He didn't expect the amount of weight over his body when the giant pulled him out of the water. Marin was forced to lay down on the giants palm while everything became warmer the higher he was lifted. The giant moved to a wall and laid down, it took all of Marin's strength to hold his chest up. It felt so weird to breath this high up. He watched as the giant pulled off the invisible prison on its face and pulled off what Marin previously thought were scales from its head. Its non-glowing golden hair bounced up slightly from where the black stuff was. Marin was captivated by the sight for a bit before speaking up. "Um, if you can understand me I was wondering if you would be able to protect me until we're not tired anymore" Marin grabbed at the air as he talked. The giant brought him closer to their face, would they actually protect him? He pressed his hands into the giants cheeks, they were so much warmer than any mer.
Marin partially opend the giants lips, a warm air lightly blew over him. He lightly put a hand on the giants teeth. Immediately the giant pulled him away from their mouth, Marin looked up at them confused. "I-I thought you would let me- I'm sorry, I haven't had a protector in a long time" Marin had to hold back a sob while he said that. The giant slowly moved their hand back to the water. Marin grappled to their wrist and pulled himself forward up their arm as best he could. He at least wanted to be near the giant who could keep him safe. He could barely grip the black substance on the giant as he tried to pull himself up, his hands slipped and he fell. The giant caught him as soon as he fell, he looked over the side of their hand to the ground. He hadn't felt this type of fear before, he scotched over and hugged the giants thumb while his tail hung idly between their fingers. The giant slowly moved him around, Marin held his eyes shut until he felt the tip of his tail touch the water. He pulled himself between the giants fingers and tied loops between his tail so the giant wouldn't let him go, he just didn't want to be alone again, was it too much to ask.
Marin couldn't hold back his tears any more. He didn't want to be alone, he wouldn't let the giant leave him alone. The giant held him a little closer to their face, they looked disappointed and angry. He realized their eyes were pure brown, they had small slits in the brown that were discolored as well. Marin grabbed at the air again towards their face, he wanted to see. The giant pulled him closer and Marin looked in their eyes. They looked like mini rainbows in his eyes. Marin scotched closer to the giants face and tried to grab at their lips. After a bit the giant slowly moved him to their lips, did they change their mind? Would they protect him! Marin practically chocked when he saw the giants lips part. His eyes were getting heavy and he just wanted to sleep. With the last bit of energy he still had, he jettisoned himself forward onto the tounge. He landed with a small squish, everything was so warm that his tail felt like it was freezing. He moved further over the tounge to the back of the throat, he hoped he at least tasted good.
Marin reached the back of the giant's throat and tried to crawl down, he was ecstatic that someone could finally protect him. He was pulled out, closer to the edge of the mouth. He was confused, why didn't the giant swallow him. He was pulled out a tiny bit more, they was messing with him, they weren't going to protect him. Marin hugged the tounge and started crying harder, they were just playing with him. He wanted a protector, anyone who could protect him, he didn't want to be vulnerable again. He was pressed up against the roof of the giants mouth, the tounge slightly moved over him. He pulled himself forward down the tounge, if the giant was going to keep him in their mouth then he was going to try and be protected. Marin slowly scrambled to the back of their throat and thought for a bit. What if the giant was trying to protect him a different way, or if the giants stomach was actually dangerous. Marin pressed a hand to the giants throat to try and show he was ready.
The giant gently swallowed, the warm flesh massaged Marin downwards. He reveled in the warmth, this was a dream he hoped he'd never wake up from. He could feel somthing press on him from the outside, the giant was pressing its finger on him until he passed their collar bone. The muscle around him tightened for a second around his head and down his arms and waist as he entered the stomach. Marin gently pulled himself to a wall, his hair was glowing enough that he could tell each ridge between the mussels. The stomach was huge, it would deffenetly be able to fit his entire body. He pushed at the stomach wall, it slightly flexed in and over his hands. He started to knead at the stomach walls, giggling everytime the muscles gently enveloped his arms. He could feel the giant slowly lift the part of his tail still outside up, his tail was so cold. Soon the entire stomach was filled and his tail kept coming, stretching it out more and more. Eventually his entire body was in the stomach, it was so warm and comfortable. He could feel a pressure from the outside again and moved his torso towards it.
The giant gently rubbed Marin, the gentle circles, the warmth, and the soft flesh encasing him drifted him closer to sleep. He pressed his body against the soft wall, he could barely keep his eyes open. "Thank you" was all he could quietly say before he drifted off to sleep. He would deffenetly find a way to help the giant in the future.

Tokoyami x reader- Big city, small pond
Fluff + Nature took back the earth AU combined with fantasy AU
You didn't take a breath before sinking back down from the side of the moss overrun pavement into the flooded road, deepened after many years of abrasion and sinkholes popping open intermittently. Deep enough for anything to swim in at least, though clementine traffic cone's still floated and drain covers for manholes had rusted and chipped away at the side. Litter still filled the bottom of the sinkhole but had all seemed to collect in the deep abysses. Metal benches were still bolted to the floor but had new river weeds and algae wrapped around each section of the skeleton but it was a wonderful place for anything to sit.
Your gills split open on your neck and you walked the depths of the "river" the reflection of miraculously working street signs for takeaways that greedy humans reopened over and over no matter how many times mother nature reclaimed the earth. Your finger's brushed the scales of an orange carp darting past you and you kicked your leg's out, turning them to an iridescent (f/c) fishtail, ending and transforming to human at the hips, your skirt clung to the tail under the water and your flowy t-shirt billowed out when you moved sharply, turning a corner or halting quickly to watch something.
Your tail kicked up rocks and dust which swirled in the water and settled at the bottom again as sediment. You scoffed at a human dropping a paper wrapper into the water that turned too much and landed on the floor, a few balls of red and white paper landing on your arm then tumbling off.
You popped your head up feeling a lily pad drooping down over your hair and covering your right eye. "Hey!" you shouted but the human was on his knees looking into the water in annoyance "Excuse me! I don't appreciate your wrapper dissolving in my river!" you shouted and he lifted his head, ruby eyes fluttered to you pulling the lily pad off your head, flopping it back onto the water where it drifted further away.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to drop it, I was trying to find it now" he sighed in annoyance at the knowledge it was gone. He sat cross legged at the side and tilted his head looking at you. "Mermaid?" it was definitely supposed to be a question but it sounded more like a surprise than curiosity. You rolled your eyes and repeated his word in a mocking tone "oh mermaid? No. I'm not a mermaid, I'm a nymph obviously. How would you like it if i just assumed you were a crow!" you crossed your arms, your tail fins swishing back and forth impatiently. "I suppose I'd be most irritated" he scratched the back of his neck and hung his head.
You sighed swimming closer to the edge and rested your forearms on the kerb next to him. "It's whatever. Not like you city folk would know a difference anyway. Mother nature did all she could to reclaim the earth as hers and you still poison us with your plastic and oil and deforestation" you listed the minimum amount of things humans had done yet it was still enough for him to feel a guilty punch to the gut. "I'm sorry for what my species did to the earth" he spoke on behalf of a race that didn't care. The human race. But it was nice to hear an apology for once instead of someone claiming it wasn't their fault.
"My name is tokoyami fumikage" he held out his hand and you took it, the web's between your fingers stretching out slightly and you analyse him curiously "(y/n) macdonald." he nodded and smiled at you politely "You have a very nice tail" he said unsure how to continue your conversation, it wasn't like he could just ask you to get up and join him for a dinner and get to know you, though honestly he wasn't sure how nymphs worked, for all he know maybe you could? "Thank you. It's my favourite colour!" you grinned swishing it behind you and hopping on the edge on the path with all your strength.
You kicked your tail out and they transformed into legs dipping into the water and creating ripples around your calves and he stared amazed at your split appendages, skirt still hugging your thighs nicely and your t-shirt stuck to you like a puppy with abandonment issues.
"The difference by the way. This is the difference between mermaids and nymphs. Mermaids are usually really rude too" you explained, picking a string of riverweed from your leg and flinging it into the water to drift along the shore or sink to the bottom. He hummed in response since he couldn't agree or disagree, for now he would stay a neutral party unwilling to get on your bad side again. "I see. How did you end up here anyway aren't nymphs supposed to be out in like... rivers and lakes?" he queried and you sighed looking at the murky water sadly, missing the feel of your own river. "Uh, when mother nature decided to shift stuff around and the big tsunami flood thingy came it flooded my river and we all ended up somewhere different. Maybe it was on purpose but I ended up here" you swung your legs in the water tapping the stone ground with your fingers.
You missed the smell of earth surrounding your crystalline lake running off into smaller streams and your favourite river for finding pebbles in. you missed the fluffy flax seed that stuck to you when you were drying off in the long grass by the bank and that floated on top of the water for fish to pop up and suction down into their stomach. You missed your friends mostly, almost sisterly bonds between all of you now severed and spread across all of japan.
"I miss home really. For all I know my friends could be home waiting for me" you exhaled deeply and tokoyami sadly glanced at you wondering how far your legs could take you. "What if I helped you get home?" he asked and you jumped excitedly. "You would really help me! Don't you have school or friends or anything? Are you sure you can help?!" you blabbered for a minute or so about how inconvenient it would be and how you didn't know how far you would have to go until he stopped you. "My school is on break right now so I have about 2 months off before I need to go back. Most of my friends are going to look for a cause of the reclamation too since half our school is unusable since it started so I have no qualms helping you"
You jumped up and down giddy and dove back in the water splashing him with water that rolled off his feathers, soaking the choker on his neck and you apologised. "I'm just so excited to go home! Thank you so much!"
And so began your long journey to your home. You passed hundreds of abandoned buildings crumbling to nothing with vines twisted up the sides and supersized branches through the shattered windows, ivy had crawled up the walls of every structure you passed and you talked aimlessly along the way. "So mother nature is-" "a goddess inside the earth" tokoyami nodded at your explanation and looked around in understanding. One of her creations had destroyed the other, the necessary one, and she was proving that humans were expendable. "I'd be pissed too if my home was being filled with gross plastic." you giggled and smiled thankful that someone finally took you as sane, you were tired of truth seekers who didn't like the truth they gave them. They had too much blame on them so they went to find something else.
A month flew by quickly, you spent as much time swimming along streams that you could but of course not every path was filled with water, so it was a long journey for someone who wasn't used to walking barefoot on the actual ground for huge periods of time.
"What are your friends like?" Tokoyami asked, pushing a bish out the way for you to crouch through and you hummed, "caring. They care about a lot of things like climate change, obviously, but also silly stuff like um the best wood to carve you and your significant other's name in, or which leaves are the shiniest at golden hour. We have to make up fun little games or we'd just get bored" you smiled and he chuckled. They sounded similar to you, pointing out tiny details on your quest like spiderwebs covered in dew hidden in the grass, or perfectly round stone's that were shiny in the sun, it made sense you wanted to get back to them so badly.
The trees opened up to an empty circle of grass and a circle not much smaller of water, flowing over the sides of the bowl into the grass and streams wound along into their own segments of the forest. "Home... i'm home! I'm home i'm home i'm home!" you cried jumping up and down and sprinting into the gorgeous blue water and immediately your legs changed to your (f/c) tail, glowing in the sun as you floated on your back and soaked up the water. "Come in come in!!" you shouted while waving at tokoyami.
You had taken rest stops at old hotels and decrepit houses to check for water and of course food and sleep but there was enough civilization along the way to keep you going. But tokoyami hadn't had a bath, a real bath, one he didn't have to fill with a showerhead, in a month and god he wanted to relax desperately.
He peeled off his sticky t-shirt and hung it over a tree branch dipping into the water and relaxing immediately. "This is surprisingly warm" he muttered watching you splash around joyfully and sunk under the water. It was so clean he could keep his eyes open and watch you dip in and out of the water bouncing like a dolphin.
You swam over to him and he sat back up shaking the water out of his feathers and you smiled hugging him tightly "thank you for taking me here. I wish I could help you get back home but I don't think i'd make it back here myself. You sighed and he shook his head. "It's okay, I have other ways of getting home. I don't have to leave right now. I'll stay for another fortnight but then I probably have to go" he looked at his phone glad he had data and could contact hawks at the click of a button.
In 14 days that went by like rapids over rocks tokoyami had to say goodbye and hawks picked him up from your spot on the way back from a mission. 2 of your friends had also found their way home so you weren't lonely and tokoyami had promised to visit. "Okay and be safe home okay! I hope I see you soon!" you shouted as hawks lifted him into the air and he nodded in a silent agreement and waved.
"See you soon (y/n)!" he shouted back and you jumped in a wave as they disappeared into the bright blue sky reflected in your lake.
"Sooo..." one of your sisters sidled up next to you and you blushed "don't even! I know what you're going to say" you shoved her away and she laughed at you teasintly.
"Soo..." hawks started and tokoyami rolled his eye's "no hawks"

The Ocean Meets the Sky
Chapter 3: Void
Please note: Every prompt for this Kataang Week connects into an over-arching story.
Prompt: Missing Scenes/Post-Canon
Story summary: After his battle with Fire Lord Ozai, something lingers within Aang's spirit. Katara is the one that pulls the seams back together. No matter what, Aang and Katara find each other.
Chapter summary: Around him was a peculiar material. It looked like constant twisting roots, like lodes knotting into themselves, making an impossible sculptured feat of wood and grain. The distinct scent of nature and wet soil after rain permeated the air.
“Where am I?” he asked into nothing.
-
Or, Aang sees what he couldn't before.

Aang was on the battlefield again. He stood atop a rock pillar in the Wulong Forest. The sky was a clouded cerise, harsh with glaring shadows and a raging streak that made up the tail of Sozin’s Comet. The same apprehension and anger stormed inside him, bubbling to the surface of everything.
And then, there was a pinprick of white light. Just a tiny star, and then it expanded so much that he had to cover his eyes.
His vision cleared. He found himself sitting with his legs crossed, his hands in a meditation pose. Around him was a peculiar material. It looked like constant twisting roots, like lodes knotting into themselves, making an impossible sculptured feat of wood and grain. The distinct scent of nature and wet soil after rain permeated the air.
“Where am I?” he asked into nothing.
There was a rumbling noise, and then an eye-shaped window appeared before him too, separating the bark. It was in the shape of an eye turned to the side. A purplish red barrier that he could see through blocked him from escape. Behind the barrier, he saw strange, oblong patterns and suggestions of shapes. A turquoise sky, unnatural poisonous clouds. Beyond that, a vivid river cutting through the earthen landscape. It had clusters of bobbing, luminescent algae upon the water’s surface that cast an unusual light.
He gasped when his middle started to glow, white-blue designs appearing on his skin and through his clothes. The wooden bead necklace he wore lifted from his neck as if upon an invisible breeze. The fabrics he wore ruffled. A chill raised the hairs on his arms.
“Inside the Tree of Time,” intoned an echoing feminine voice. It felt like it was coming from inside him. Illogical, reverberating.
He blinked, clutching at his sleeves, searching for the source of the light. “Who are you? Who’s talking?” he asked in a panic.
“Raava,” said the voice, continuing unperturbed. “I am part of you, Aang. I am the spirit of light…the spirit of the Avatar.”
Immediately, it was as if all the pieces had fallen into place. There was a calmness about him that settled on his shoulders, his chest. He knew, without a doubt, that this Raava was telling the truth, that the voice was someone he could trust. It was as if he had reconnected with a long-lost friend.
“You are here because you have bended another’s energy…and that energy has corrupted you.”
Aang reeled backward, banging onto the hollow trunk of the tree. “What? But—”
“Let time show you,” Raava interrupted, and he could almost imagine a figure gesturing to the tree that surrounded him, a faceless spirit guiding him on this journey he did not want to take.
Images fizzled into existence around him, floating visions that surfaces upon the bark. They were blurred along the borders and had a quality to them that made them appear almost ethereal. The first he saw was of someone familiar.
It was Gyatso running away from his old room in the Southern Air Temple, the scroll Aang had left behind when he ran away clutched in his hand. His eyebrows were drawn together, features set into one of dread.
“Aang has gone!” he shouted into the empty halls. “We need to send out a search party immediately! Who knows what will happen in this typhoon!”
Another moving image popped near it, this time a courtyard full of elder monks, murmuring to each other, pointing at the deep red sky. He could not tell what time of day it was, for there were stars that peeked out from behind the Patola Mountains, and a glimmer of sunrays limning the edges of the valleys at the same time.
Another image, and it was fire. Screams, children he had known yelling through crumbling rubble. Dote, his friend, struggling to pull out his broken leg from beneath a fallen pillar. Blood cascaded from a cut on his forehead. Behind him, a great fireball scorched a group of lemurs into a crisp, and their corpses were left to fall with a resounding thud onto the blackened tile of what used to be Aang’s home.
“We have to get out of here!” bellowed a young adult monk with hardly a beard patch on his chin. He had a limp. An arrow had pierced his thigh and rivulets of red dribbled down his leg. “Gather the children! Quickly!”
Aang saw the tiles on the roofs come crashing to the ground, the silhouette of a couple clutching onto each other’s hands as they plunged together to their death in the crags below, a bison calf yowling for its mother who lay in a lifeless burning heap.
Aang’s heart hammered in his chest, hard and fast. Sweat pooled behind his neck when he realized what he was seeing.
“Scenes from your past,” said Raava, not unkindly. “Events that you missed, that you could not live through, because you could not save your people.”
Everything seemed to collide in on itself when he recognized Gyatso again in another image, this time in a falling apart structure surrounded by Fire Nation soldiers. The elderly man spun in a circle, an arc, lifting his arms and pushing them outward. The soldiers stiffened, scratched at their throats, and fell to their knees breathless. Some coughed, others struggled, a few of them writhed until they did not anymore.
Then, without warning, Gyatso fell as well with a look of listlessness in his gray eyes. He slumped onto the wall, and he stared at the ceiling, succumbing to his own suffocation tactic.
When Aang saw this, he grasped for his head, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes. He did not want to see any of it. None of it at all. The regret was already too great.
He wanted…
He wanted…
He did not know what he wanted, nor what he could want.
But then, like hopelessness itself, there came a foggy vision at last. A forgotten memory.
A man, elderly and ragged, collapsed against a boulder in a new image that took over the previous one. His armor was falling apart as he stared into the tempestuous sky above him. A pang resounded in Aang’s spirit, as if the man was calling out to him.
“I'm sorry, Raava,” the man rasped out, sagging ever further downward, “I failed to bring peace. Even with Vaatu locked away, darkness still surrounds humanity.”
Raava hummed from inside Aang in agreement. “You see Aang, your spirit must be unbendable to bend another’s energy,” she explained while Aang’s vision became more distorted with guilt. “The problem is there is no one with an unbendable spirit…not even the Avatar’s. You are human, and therefore there is a darkness, no matter how small, that resides inside you. There can be no light without darkness, and no darkness without light. Even if you were to eliminate one, the other would appear again no matter how long it takes.”
Aang did know, and he understood it. He wished that he did not.
He remembered the slight moment of hesitation, the cry for help he imagined Gyatso would exclaim as his and Ozai’s energies melded for that short, tumultuous moment. He remembered how he wanted more from Ozai than his bending. Just for that second before he righted himself.
He had thought of Katara. She was the one how had taught him how to hope again, and maybe he could think of her again.
When he looked up again, the tree had shown him another moving picture, another moment he had never witnessed himself.
It showed himself sleeping in a room made of planks of wood that swayed gently from side-to-side. He was laying on a pile of white furs, his upper torso wrapped with bandages, and a pair of tattered yellow pants.
Katara hovered over him. She had bags under her eyes. Her braid that rested along her spine was messy. Her hands were encased in glowing water, and she moved them along his arms and legs, pressing them onto his chest.
When she finished, she looked worn. The water snaked back into the pouch. There were shadows that darkened her face. “Please, Aang,” she begged in a low murmur. “Please wake up. I don’t know what to do without you.”
The scene of the two of them shifted, melted, and then he observed her again but in a different light.
Aang saw Katara’s face highlighted and illuminated with a deep orange and blue as the two colors clashed against each other from across a vast ocean. A wall of light pushed up against another stalwart wall. They were two opposites fighting to maintain the balance he could not keep.
She stood alert in the Fire Nation palace’s courtyard where they had reunited, looking out over the horizon.
“Aang,” she whispered, “Don’t give up. I believe in you.” Then, even lower as she clutched her hands to her heart, she added, “I love you.”
Katara screamed for him afterward when the colors brightened and grew all the more intense. Her hands balled into fists, and there was nothing he could do but watch.

“Remind me why we decided to move in the middle of the freakin’ summer?” you asked as you hauled yet another box up the stairs. It was only the fourth or fifth one-- you weren’t too sure-- but you had at least another fifteen or twenty out in the truck Iwaizumi had rented for the day.
Iwa grumbled a noncommittal response and Oikawa sighed, panting as he followed behind you with a box of his own.
“It seemed like such a good idea at the time,” he whined, and you snorted, accidentally inhaling beads of sweat into your sinuses. You felt absolutely disgusting, your shirt sticking to your back and your hair-- already up in an effort to keep your neck cool-- still clung to your skin. The air conditioner wasn’t on yet either, so the inside of your new house was not only sweltering but stifling.
“Well, it wasn’t,” Iwaizumi snapped, dropping the box he held by the front door. There were several already stacked up haphazardly around the foyer and entrance hallway, and you nudged his further in to keep the path clear and to set yours down on top of it. “Is there any reason the damn A/C is still off?”
You shifted your weight, leaning away from him. He was in a foul mood, from both the heat and plain exhaustion after spending the last two weeks packing up after your classes were through for the day.
“We just keep forgetting to turn it on,” you murmured, wiping away the sweat from your forehead with your shirt. It was too tempting to take it off, but then you would have to worry about sunburn and that just...wasn’t appealing. “I’ll go check it now.”
“Goddammit,” he snapped, then softened. “No, I’ll go. I’m sorry for snapping.”
You gave him a small smile as he passed by, but it turned into a grimace when he touched your cheek. “It’s too hot, don’t touch me, ugh.”
It took another twenty minutes before you got all the boxes in, and even then you had to sit around waiting for the air conditioner to even make a dent in the heat of the house, all while sorting the boxes into their appropriate rooms when all you wanted to do was shower in ice water. It was the worst experience you had ever had, and that was including the very memorable day when you had fallen into an algae covered lake while on vacation, and had had to walk around wet and slimy for hours before you could get back to the hotel.
“Ah, hell,” you whined, rubbing at your stinging eyes. Sweat had dripped into them without warning and you groaned in frustration. The air was barely any cooler even though the sun was setting by that point, but the most important boxes containing clothes, the food, and the bedding were unpacked and put away and you were going to do nothing else before you showered.
Oikawa was just stepping out of the bathroom when you walked up, having finished putting things away in his designated room, and smiled. “All yours, princess.”
“Thank you,” you said sarcastically and he laughed, walking off down the hall toweling his hair.
Not even looking at the handle for hot water, you turned it on full cold and stepped under, shivering even as you sighed in relief. The first ten minutes were spent just standing there relishing in the goosebumps breaking out over your skin until you felt a little more human, and you spent another ten working your hair and body into a lather.
You could have cried as you stepped out, wrapping yourself in a fluffy towel and feeling that the air was still far too warm for your liking. Grumbling, you got dressed in a huff before wandering through your new home towards the sound of the TV in the living room.
“Why in god’s name is still so hot in here?” you whined as you fell into the empty spot between Iwaizumi and Oikawa. You realized almost immediately what an awful idea that was when the temperature rose another ten degrees and groaned.
Oikawa was frowning, sweat starting to bead on his forehead again already. “Dunno. We’ll probably have to call someone tomorrow to look at it if it isn’t working then.”
Uncomfortable silence fell as you squirmed, trying to figure out how you were going to sleep through the night if it remained this hot, when there was a smack from your other side.
You and Oikawa both jumped and looked to Iwaizumi, who’s palm was flat against his forehead.
“We’re so stupid,” he said, and you were bewildered when a grin spread across his face. “What was the biggest reason we picked this stupid house in the first place?”
You shook your head, unable to think of anything. Oikawa was mirroring you, eyes narrowed as he wracked his brain.
Iwaizumi groaned, glaring at you. “The pool, you idiots. Let’s go find our suits and--”
“Fuck that,” you said, standing up. You couldn’t believe you had forgotten that the three of you literally owned an in-ground pool now, complete with a built-in hot tub to boot. And there was a six-foot privacy fence to keep the neighbors from peeking.
“Wha--?” Iwaizumi started to say, irritated at your dismissal of his idea.
Until your shirt hit him in the face.
Oikawa laughed at that, eyeing your swaying hips and naked back. “You little minx. I like the way you think.”
You grinned over your shoulder, shedding your shorts and leaving them laying in the middle of the floor as you opened the sliding glass door. The lights in the pool were already on, creating a rippling light show beneath the surface of the water, and you disrupted it when you jumped in with a splash.
It was followed a moment later by another one, and you surfaced to find Oikawa fully naked and swimming towards you with a devious smirk. The water was blessedly cool, and your hard nipples did not go unnoticed. Iwa was taking a little more time, carefully dropping his shirt on one of the deck chairs as he watched you and Oikawa splash around and giggle, already feeling you up.
“Come on, Iwa. We won’t bite,” Oikawa said as he dragged you backwards through the water towards the deep end.
Your stomach dropped a little when you felt your feet leave the bottom, but Oikawa kept you up in his strong arms. Still, you squirmed around until you could loop yours around his neck and your legs around his waist.
“Careful, princess,” he warned playfully, feeling your hot core settle against his soft cock ( or at least, it was soft until he felt that, anyway). “It’s a bit early to christen the pool like that when we haven’t even managed the bedroom yet.”
You giggled in his ear at that. “Says who?”
Another set of arms wound around you then, and hot breath hit your neck a split second before teeth did. Iwaizumi was apparently not as reserved as Oikawa was, as he was rock hard against your ass.
“You two are fucking ridiculous,” he snapped, leading a trail from your shoulder up to your ear, nipping the lobe a little sharply.
You squealed in response, arching into Oikawa’s chest. They grinned wickedly at each other, and Iwaizumi pulled you back to lean against his chest.
Your tits were now above the water line, exposing your hard nipples to the warm air and Iwa’s touches. He palmed both breasts in his rough hands, pinching and twisting the hard little buds between his fingers and your legs tightened around Oikawa’s hips in response. Your nails dug into the skin of his biceps, your head tipping back onto Iwa’s shoulder as you sighed.
Both their cocks were fully hard and rubbing between the cheeks of your ass and the lips of your wet cunt, Oikawa’s tip grazing over your clit nonstop. Your toes were starting to curl from the endless pleasure, small noises that might have been pleas escaping your lips.
“That feels so good, Haji,” you murmured, slipping your fingers into the wet strands of his dark hair. His lips were still pressing against your skin, teeth leaving bright red marks all over the side of your neck and shoulder that you knew you would be covering up tomorrow.
“Hold her up, Haji,” Oikawa said, and you whined when his hands left your tits to brace beneath your knees. The new position had them up near your shoulders, your pussy on full display under the water, and you shivered at the rush of coolness against your hot lips. “God you look so pretty like this, princess.”
The tip of one long, slender finger skimmed your outer lips, teasing as it skipped over your clit and traced down the other side. “And so wet already. Very naughty.” He added a second finger and made a round again, listening to your breathing hitch and huff when he came close and missed again, and laughed.
“You’re such a tease, Tooru,” you whined, toes curling as he came close yet again and missed yet again. “So mean.”
“Awe, don’t say that, princess,” he tutted as his thumb finally pressed to your clit causing your hips to jump in Iwaizumi’s hold.
His hands squeezed tighter, spreading you open further to Oikawa’s featherlight touches. The cool water intensified the feeling of his fingers on your clit, and when one finger teased your slick opening, you gasped.
Iwaizumi was nudging at your cheek, still grinding between your ass cheeks, and when you turned your head to him his lips landed on yours. His tongue immediately swept between your lips without permission, delving and tasting and swallowing the noises you were making, his fingers so tight they were sure to leave marks in the morning.
“You’re already so needy and we haven’t even done anything,” Oikawa said, feeling your walls clench as he pressed in to the second knuckle and grinning. “Tell me how good it feels, hm?”
Iwa pulled away, listening to your whiny pants, lips shiny and swollen and eyes glassy. “Feels good, Tooru but I need more, please. Mm, want you to stretch me out on your fingers so I can take both your cocks.”
“Oh, is that what we’re doing tonight?” Iwaizumi asked teasingly. His cock jumped at the thought. He always loved seeing stretched to the point you were crying, begging for more even though you can’t take it, so full that your orgasms were empty as you fluttered around them. “You’ll have to ask nicely if you want that, princess.”
You gasped as Oikawa slipped a second finger inside you, eased by the copious amounts of slick you were producing now as his thumb ground against your clit.
Iwa wanted so badly to join him in teasing you open and to orgasm, stuffing you full of their fingers as they prepped you to take them, but the view over your shoulder as Oikawa’s slender fingers pumped in and out of you was making up for it.
Your breath rattled as they scissored inside you, the words pouring out of your lips in a whiny, high pitched tone. “Please please please, can you both fuck me? Want both of your cocks in my pussy tonight, please?”
A third finger fit and spread and you keened when every pass began to grind against the soft spot inside you. You couldn’t help it, wailing as you clamped down around them, and Oikawa slowed down to work you through it.
“Fuck, you’re so pretty when you cum,” Iwa growled into your ear, but you barely processed what he said in your addled state. His muscles were straining with the effort it took to hold you like that for so long, but it was worth it to hear your breathy moans on the air. “Since you asked so nicely, I suppose we should reward you, huh, Tooru?”
Oikawa nodded as he started up again, feeling your walls flutter and clench from overstimulation, and he carefully avoided your clit for the time being. You were so wet now that a fourth finger slid in with no effort, but you gasped anyway at the stretch. It was a familiar sting that ebbed away so quickly you hardly noticed it, focusing on the feel of them inside you and you moaned Oikawa’s name.
“Feels so good, Tooru,” you said, fingers tightening in Iwa’s hair. The pleasure was surging again, still too intense but you reveled in it. “Always feels so good when you stretch me. Wanna take your cocks, please.”
Oikawa’s cock throbbed at your praise, neglected and achingly hard as he worked you open.
Iwa pressed a kiss to your sweaty cheek and said, “Patience, pretty girl. You’ll get what you want soon, but only if you let Tooru work that pretty hole open.”
You whined again, toes curling as you tried to do what he said, but you wanted it so bad. At last, Oikawa dragged his fingers from you and nestled his cock between your swollen folds, taking your legs from Iwaizumi and placing them over his arms. Iwaizumi repositioned as well, letting his cock slide alongside Oikawa’s while he cupped your ass, kneading and squeezing the soft flesh.
“Ready, princess?” Iwa asked, prodding your drenched hole and you nodded, toes curling when his head slid in. He didn’t wait for you to adjust, stuffing you full in one thrust and you couldn’t help the scream that filled the thick night air. He stopped when he was fully seated, feeling you clench and spasm around him and released a deep, stuttery moan into your ear.
You reached up and gripped the back of his neck, head tilting to the side and lips parting in a soundless ‘o’ as Oikawa eased in as well. Your back arched, but you couldn’t go anywhere pinned between them the way you were, and tears filled your eyes at the intense, pleasurable stretch as both their cocks settled against your cervix.
“Fuckfuckfuck,” you breathed, high pitched and scratchy, nails digging into Iwaizumi’s neck and Oikawa’s shoulder. “So good, so full, I can’t take it.”
Both men were panting as they felt your walls trying to squeeze down around them, fluttering uselessly and when Iwaizumi pulled out, you almost cried.
“Ah, ah, princess. You asked for this, remember?” he asked, and his hips snapped back into yours, hilting again while Oikawa pulled out. “You can’t back out now.”
“Never,” you cried, tears pricking your eyes as they alternated fucking you. You were never empty for a second but when they both snapped into your tight pussy, you squealed. “Want you to cum in me at the same time, fill me up, please.”
They listened to your babbling with smirks, eyes rolling as their veiny cocks rubbed and filled every inch of your cunt, tips taking turns kissing your cervix.
“You sure, princess? I’m not sure you can take that,” Oikawa teased, slowing his hips, and laughed when your head whipped up to look at him, pupils blown wide and pleading.
“I can take it, Tooru. I promise I can take it, please don’t stop,” you begged, almost sobbing when Iwaizumi slowed as well. Both of them now were just rocking their hips, both settled deep in your stretched pussy, and could feel every vein and the crown of their cocks dragging against your walls. “Pleasepleaseplease, daddy.”
You had whined it accidentally, but Iwa reacted with a sharp jerk of his hips to the name and you cried with relief.
“Say that again, princess,” he groaned, pulling out to the tip. As soon as you gasped the name again, he was fucking up into you with abandon, joined by Oikawa a moment later.
He was amused by the turn of events, but he was turned on by the bounce of your tits with every hard thrust, your head thrown back and moans and whines flowing nonstop from your parted lips.
“Gonna cum,” you cried, toes curling as someone’s cock tapped your cervix. “Gonna cum all over your cocks. Daddy, please, let me--”
It was like they both knew who you were referring to, because Oikawa said nothing while Iwa groaned low in his throat, teeth nipping your pulse point before commanding you.
“Cum for us, pretty girl. Gonna fill you up full of our cum but we need you tight around us first. Gonna make you feel so good, princess,” he snarled, and his thrusts changed so that he and Oikawa were filling you at the same time. Oikawa watched your eyes go wide, mouth open in a silent scream as you came, fluttering and trying to clamp down on both their cocks but it was useless. He rocked his hips gently, stimulating your g-spot while Iwa’s fingers found your clit and circled roughly. You jerked, your voice breaking as you screamed their names, first Oikawa’s and then Iwa’s.
You were jelly in their arms after that, fingers wrapped weakly around their wrists but you whined when Oikawa pulled out of you.
“Sorry, princess. Daddy has to cum, then I’ll fill this pretty pussy back up,” he said and leaned down to kiss you softly. But you tasted too sweet and his tongue dipped into your mouth for more, swallowing the sounds you made as Iwaizumi resumed fucking you.
He sounded breathless when he came, a low, raspy groan filling your ears as a warmth filled your cunt, and he paused for a moment. Oikawa pressed in beside him again, and you tensed in their arms, moaning until Iwaizumi pulled out.
“My turn, pretty girl. One more and then we’ll clean you up,” Oikawa promised against your lips. He wasn’t gentle as he chased his pleasure, listening to you babble and plead for more, you can’t take it, feels so good, fuck*. “Shit, you’re still so tight after that.”
He tensed up as the pleasure broke over him in waves, hips rocking as he spent himself inside your womb, cum mixing with Iwa’s and you basked in the full feeling.
Iwa picked you up in a bridal carry and waded to the side of the pool, where Oikawa helped pull you up onto the cement deck. Your legs were sore and stiff from being held up for so long, and he just lifted you up again, walking naked into the house and dripping water everywhere.
It was, to his surprise, cool inside and you shivered as the air cooled the water on your skin. Iwaizumi’s footsteps headed to the thermostat while he carried you to the bathroom.
“Let’s do that again,” you said, nuzzling your nose against Oikawa’s neck. He smelled like chlorine and his body wash, and you couldn’t resist the need to press open mouth kisses all over his skin.
He laughed, setting you down on your feet and reaching for the towel over the shower rack. “Sure, princess. But not tonight. We’re gonna go to bed.”
“Well duh,” you answered as you helped each other towel off. Iwa joined you a moment later, letting you rub him down with the fluffy towel. “I’m exhausted.”
Iwa laughed, snatching the towel from your hands and throwing it on the sink. “Then let’s get you into bed, hm?”
You squealed when he hoisted you up and over his shoulder, smacking his bare back as he carried you down the hall. Oikawa couldn’t seem to resist the urge to pester you, poked your nose and tugging your hair all the way down, listening to you whine and slap at his hands playfully.
Iwaizumi dumped you onto the bed, grunting as you bounced and then bounced some more when your partners fell in beside you. The covers were pulled up and you were tucked between them, head resting on Oikawa’s chest while Iwa’s arm lay across your waist, fingers laced with both of yours.
In an instant the steady rise and fall of Oikawa’s chest beneath you and their combined warmth lulled you towards sleep, but not before you murmured, “I love you both.”
Iwa’s voice was thick and rumbly as he said it back, squeezing your hands. Oikawa pressed his lips to your forehead before he answered, light and airy and full of happiness.
And how could he not be? He had everything he wanted in his arms.

I chose the prompt “Shove it Satan” because I mean come on, if you could put that quote with any character it was gonna be Ransom.  Carly you know I am all about the fluffy goodness but I can’t seem to write a SFW Ransom fic 🤷‍♀️ Hope you don’t mind?  Ily hun 😘
Not beta read so any mistakes are my own 🎃

You and your housemate were civil, not friends. Ransom came from money and his sudden change in circumstances and meant that he’d had to give up his expensive house and rent somewhere considerably cheaper. That’s how he ended up with you. The rates in your building had all but doubled meaning you had to rent out the spare bedroom. When the knock on your door came you hadn’t expected to come face to face with the disarmingly handsome Drysdale. As you had shown him around the apartment he didn’t seem impressed, in fact his face had the expression that he was smelling something rather disgusting. Despite this though he still asked, well told you, he could take the room, but only after demanding you got rid of the bed so he could move his own superior one in. It pained you to rent the room to him, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.
You took much delight in Ransoms fall from grace. Losing his inheritance was perhaps one of the best things that could have happened to him. It was evident that he had never had to stand on his own two feet without the bank of Granddaddy Harlan to fund his lavish lifestyle. But now the spoilt man-child had to actually get a job, which thanks to his ‘connections’ he managed to do within a week. Of course, that gave him the ammunition to bitch and moan constantly. Something he was doing very loudly right now.
“This is fucking stupid,” you heard him grumble as he walked into the sitting room.
You turned to look at him and couldn’t stop the snort escaping. He glared daggers at you.
“What?” he snapped as narrowed his eyes at you.
“The horns suit you. Really feels like you’re revealing your true self to world,” he shot you a sarcastic smirk.
“Well I see you’re still wearing your costume from last year. Got to say Y/N, the mask is terrifying,” you rolled your eyes at his childish comment. God the man was infuriating and even with the horns, he looked damn good in his black suit.
“Oh, shove it, Satan. Least I’m not a fully-grown adult dressed up as the devil for a works Halloween costume party.” Ransom laughed, he actually laughed at your insult.
“Yes, how embarrassing. Almost as embarrassing as being in your 20’s with no one to go out with on Halloween,” slamming your books down on the table you glared at him.
“I’m studying you jackass, I have exams next month. Some of us aren’t just given us jobs because we come from rich families.” Ransom was shocked by your outburst, but quickly rearranged his face to its usual hard, arrogant exterior. To be honest he was a little turned on, he had never really seen you display anything other than indifference towards him.
“Sucks to be you. See you later sweetheart,” with that he turned and strode out of the apartment.
“Fuck you,” you screamed at the closed door. The way he said that little pet name replayed in your head. The smarmy git. How could one man infuriate you so much and also make you want to jump his bones at the same time?
Well at least Ransom wouldn’t be around to cause any further turmoil tonight. Sticking to your original Halloween plans you made yourself a cup of tea in your pumpkin mug (even if you weren’t going out you could still get into the spirit of things), plopped yourself back onto the sofa and picked up your notebook and started making notes on the life cycle of algae.
After an hour or so you had met your target for the night, you placed your books on the table and stretched out. The chill autumn air was blowing a cold draft into open plan living room making you shiver. Glancing around you tried to find an extra layer to put on. All you could find was Ransoms cream cable knit thrown onto the arm chair where he had thrown it off the other day when he had been caught in a sudden downpour outside. You pulled the soft knitted jumper over your head and pulled the sleeves down over your hands, gripping the material in your fingers. The man might be a complete and utter douche but damn if he didn’t have good taste in jumpers. Lifting your hands up to your face, you could smell Ransoms lingering scent. It brought a small smile your face knowing how furious he would be if he knew you borrowed his sweater. What he didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him, besides you would be in bed way before he got back, that’s if he even came back. The bastard might get lucky? Ransom would think the walk of shame was like walking up to collect an award.
xxx
Ransom was miserable, he didn’t want to be here. He certainly didn’t want to be wearing this fucking costume but his boss had told him he had to, and even though he hated taking orders, he needed the cushy job. Well, at least until he could figure out how to usurp that Marta bitch.
Only one thing would make sure that this evening wasn’t a complete waste of his time and that was getting laid. Many of the women at the party were dressed in the cliché incredibly revealing nurses’ outfits, skin tight catsuits with deep plunging necklines or the newly popular Harlequin costume. Some were throwing themselves at Ransom, but he didn’t find himself excited at the prospect of any of them. Every time a new woman approached him, he suddenly thought about you; face contorted with rage and shock just before he left the flat earlier this evening. He had to admit that he found you physically appealing but until tonight had never thought about acting on it. You must be as in need as him. In the last 6 months he hadn’t heard or seen a man anywhere near you. A couple of times he had heard your soft sighs and moans as you took matters into you own hands. On those occasions he had joined you, getting himself off to the sound of you getting off.
At the feeling of his slacks getting tighter Ransom muttered his goodbyes to his boss and headed back to his car. It took him 15minutes to drive back to the flat. If this all went to plan any speeding ticket he might have gotten on the journey back would be worth it. He could hear the tv faintly in the background as he stepped through the front door.
“Shit,” he heard you whisper shout as the door clicked behind him. He walked down the short hall and leaned against the door frame.
“Well if it isn’t the devil himself,” you give him a sarcastic smile. “Thought you be trying to entice some angels to join you in hell.”
Ransom chuckled making you roll your eyes at him. You shifted ever so slightly making sure you were hidden fully behind the back of the sofa, you still hadn’t taken his sweater off. “You almost sound jealous sweetheart. Don’t worry there’s …,” Ransom stopped and suddenly walked over so that he was stood at the end of the sofa. One eyebrow raised in amusement. “Sweetheart, are you wearing my sweater?”
You scrunched up your face as you tried to think of some convincing lie but nothing came to mind. “Nope,” this is mine Ransom.”
“You don’t sound so sure Y/N,” he said, his voice teasing. “How about you stand up and let me have another look?”
“No, I don’t think that’s necessary,” you stuttered.
“Oh, but I do,” he stepped closer, took your hands and hauled you to your feet. “Now my jumper had a hole right here,” he pointed to his chest and looked at the little hole mirrored on the jumper you were wearing. He took his finger and threaded it through the hole, it brushed up against the side of your breast making your breath hitch.
“You really are the devil, aren’t you?” you whispered.
“Better believe it sweetheart,” he pulled his finger out of the jumper and slipped his hands underneath the t-shirt you had on below the jumper. His hands travelled up and held onto your ribs, thumbs teasing over the thin lacy material of your bralette. You knew you shouldn’t be letting Ransom do this but you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him to stop. In fact, this slow torturous approach he was taking was starting to make you a little impatient.
“You win, it’s your jumper. I was cold alright? And Ransom, if we are going to do this you better hurry up and fuck me.” He growled at the challenge you issued him.
“Works for me sweetheart. Now take my sweater off, I don’t want it to get ruined,” he removed his hands from under your shirt and stood back to watch you.
“You don’t get to tell me what to do, this is a mutual fucking. Anyways you’ve still got those ridiculous horns on your head, they’re going to have to go,” you chided before removing the jumper and your t-shirt in one go.
“And here was me thinking you wanted to fuck the devil,” Ransoms eyes fell appreciatively to your sheer bralette, his tongue darting out to lick his bottom lip.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at him. “I would still be fucking the devil without the horns on.”
Reaching up on your tiptoes, you pulled the horns off his head and threw them across the room. After that you turned your attention to his jacket, pushing it off his shoulders before moving onto the buttons of his shirt. He helped you with the last few buttons and shrugged it off. You had seen him without a shirt on before but never had the chance to drag you nails over the contours of his abs. It looked like you weren’t going to have much time now either as Ransom grabbed your waist and picked you up. Automatically your legs wrapped around his narrow hips, fingers entwining in his hair.
Ransom attacked you mouth with his. Teeth and lips crashing together in a moment of pure need and desire. There was nothing romantic about it, it was animalistic. He moaned into your mouth as you tugged his hair. A cry escaped you lips as Ransom crashed you both into the wall. He pinned you against it, moving his lips along your jaw and sucking at the sensitive skin at your neck, whilst his hand found the door handle to his room. Once he had managed to open the door, his hands moved down to knead your ass as he carried you over the threshold.
The room was tidier than you expected. There were little traces of his former life, Egyptian cotton sheets, expensive bottles of cologne on the shelf and a small collection of swiss watches on the bed side table. Normally you would have commented on how much of a spoilt prick he was but all you could concentrate on was the feeling Ransoms hardening length pressing against your core. He fell backwards onto the bed with a soft thud making you squeak in surprise, you had to throw your arms out to stop yourself from rolling off him.
“Watch it arsehole,” you chided. You sat up and pulled off your bralette, the movement making your hips, which we straddling Ransoms waist, wiggle. The sound that escaped Ransom brought a grin to your own face. His lust darkened eyes were fixed on your chest, his finger tips gripping your waist, encouraging you to continue moving. “Who knew the trust-fund prince was such a pervert?” His eyes narrowed as they met yours. “Oops, forgot your just a commoner now like the rest of us,” you teased.
“Careful sweetheart,” the threat in his tone made you shiver.
You rolled your bottom lip between your teeth and raised an eyebrow at Ransom. “Who say’s I want to be careful?”
Before you knew it, Ransom had rolled you so that you were beneath him. His arms resting either side of your head, a carnal look in his eyes. “You may regret saying that.”
That was the only warning you had before his head dropped and began nipping and sucking a trail of small marks from your neck to your chest.  You gasped as his took one of your pebbled nipples into his mouth and flicked his tongue his over the taut bud before biting it gently, then turned his attention to the other.  Ransom let out a moan as your dug your nails in the muscular planes of his shoulder. He detached his mouth from your nipple and captured your lips in a bruising kiss. You sucked on his bottom lip as his hands explored every available part of you. When his hands reached the band of your pyjamas his paused and sat up, searching your eyes for any sign that he should stop.
He didn’t find one.
You lifted your hips so that he could slide your bottoms down your legs. He tutted slightly making you scowl.
“No underwear, I’m not the only devil in disguise,” he smirked.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at his comment. “You’re not in disguise arsehole”.
“You’re right, I’m not” he lunged forward and attacked your pussy with his mouth.
Back arching and hands knotting into the expensive cotton sheets as his tongue swirled and flicked at your bundle of nerves. Ransom ran a thick finger up and down your slit, coating it in your arousal, before inserting inside. You could feel Ransom smile against you as your back arched off the bed and you tried to press yourself against his mouth. As another one of his long fingers entered your slick core, it was impossible to contain your moans as his tongue it’s assault and his fingers scissored you open.  His ministrations had a familiar coil in your stomach beginning to tighten. As your breaths became pants and your toes began to curl in ecstasy, Ransom stopped and pulled back. He sat back on his knees and licked the glistening fingers, that moments ago, had been so close to giving you much needed release.
“What? I told you’d regret saying it” he said innocently as you scowled at him.
“Fine” you huffed, “I’ll just take matters into my own hands seeing as you’re not up to the job.”
Ransom watched, mouth parted in shock, as you moved your own hand down your body, fingers now toying with where his tongue had just been. When your eyes closed as the pleasure built, you felt Ransoms hand on top of your own helping add to the pressure on your clit. Just as you neared the edge of your release, Ransom pulled your fingers aside and replaced them with his tongue. You wove your fingers into his hair, holding him in place giving him no chance of escape this time. You cried out as the coil finally snapped, body going taut with the sheer pleasure of it. Ransom worked you through your orgasm until you had to push him away because the overstimulation was too much.
You raised yourself up, resting on your elbows and studied Ransoms face which was currently resting just below your stomach. His cheeks flushed, chin coated in your release and his lust blown eyes fixed on your heaving chest.
“That all you got Satan?” you taunted at him.
A slow smile spread across his face. “Not a chance. Just planning on how to corrupt you next.”
“Who says it’s your turn again? Shouldn’t we share the sin?” at your words he lifted his head up and cocked an eyebrow at you.
“Oh yeah, what exactly do you have in mind?” he pulled himself up so that he was raised above you.
“Well let’s just say you’ll enjoy it.” You lifted you head up and attacked his mouth, moaning as you tasted yourself on his tongue.  Just as Ransom began to trail open mouthed kisses down your jaw and to your neck you placed a hand on his chest and pushed him off you.
His brows furrowed together in confusion as you knelt next to him, completely unashamed with your nakedness. You winked at him as your fingers trailed over the bulge in his trousers. His cock twitched as you ran your fingernails against the tight material along the length before undoing the button and slowly pulling down the zipper.  Ransom lifted his hips so that you could pull his slacks and boxers down. As you tugged them off and threw them onto the floor, his hard length sprang free, resting against his lower abdomen, red tip leaking with pre-cum. He hissed as you licked a trail along the throbbing vein on the underside of his length stopping before you got to tip. You swiped your thumb over the weeping head before taking into your mouth and making a show of twirling your tongue around it, licking off the salty mixture, humming in delight.
“Such a tease,” Ransom scolded. He was about to add something else but choked on the beginning of his words when you spat onto your hand and wrapped it tightly around his cock. He whimpered at your tight grip, making you grin.
“Who’s the fucking devil now?” he gasped.
“Guess we’re about to find out,” you smirked, loosening your grip on him and sliding your hand up and down his length, twisting your palm over the sensitive tip occasionally. Your other hand tugged harshly on his balls, making him moan as his hands shot up to grab hold of the pillows. His hips writhed under your touch, his eyes screwed shut and his mouth parted as his breaths became pants. It really was a sight to behold; Ransom, born with a silver spoon up his ass, Drysdale was completely at your mercy.
“Sweetheart, if you keep that up I’m not going to last much longer,” Ransom grunted in between gasped breaths.
A smug grin formed and you stopped your movements and bent down and gave his weeping tip a few kitten licks. His cock jumped on your tongue and his eyes shot open. He raised himself up on his elbows and watched as you straddled his hips, lining yourself up. You took hold of his length and ran it along your slit, coating it in your arousal before sinking down slowly until Ransom was fully sheathed within you. The satisfied sigh you let out had Ransom feeling fit to burst already.
His hands moved to your hips as you sat still and became accustomed to the stretch. When the slight sting had gone you rolled your hips and slowly lifted yourself up so that only the tip of Ransoms cock was inside you before slowly sinking back down again. The grip on your hips tightened as he tried to remain in control and let you set the pace but you could see in his face that he was struggling. Both of you moaned simultaneously as you sped up your movements, falling forward so that your hands were splayed on his chest for support.
Ransom took advantage of your new position and moved his hands to your breasts, brushing his thumbs over the sensitive buds before rolling them between his fingers making you hiss. A cry left your lips and Ransom began to thrust up into you.
“Please… Ransom harder,” you whimpered.
He growled at your request and before you knew it you were on your back, Ransom towering above you. His hands either side of your head as he pounded into you.
“Fuck sweetheart, so fucking tight,” he panted in your ear. “Come on Y/N, wanna hear you.”
You clawed at his back leaving angry red lines in your wake “Shit Ransom, please,” you whined.
He slammed into your with so much force that the bedframe hit the wall. “Yes” you chanted over and over as the coil within you began to wind once again. “Just like that, please Ransom,” you mewled.
Ransom had fucked people before but nothing on this level. He couldn’t believe that you still wanted more. As you lifted your arms above your head to grip the headboard to brace yourself as Ransom watched as your breasts bounced up and down. “I can feel you sweetheart, you’re so close,” he said pulled out of you completely before slamming back into you with all his weight.
He lifted your hips slightly allowing him to reach new depths making you cry out his name in ecstasy. You locked your ankles around his narrow waist, eyes rolling back as his cock kissed your cervix. His hand found its way between you and his thumb worked your clit. All of the sensations starting to become too much but not enough at the same time. The sounds of both yours and Ransoms moans and gasps filled the room as his thrusts reached a frantic pace.
“Look at me sweetheart,” he grunted as he felt his balls tighten and your walls beginning to flutter around him.
In your thoroughly fucked out state you only just managed to follow his instruction. When your eyes locked on his there was barely any blue in his remaining. Ransom enjoyed the hazy look in your eyes knowing that he had caused that. The coil was a breaking point and as Ransom worked your clit harder it snapped. You screamed out his name, eyes rolling back as your whole body shook as your orgasm tore through you.
This was all it took for Ransom to follow you over the edge. As your walls clamped around his cock his thrusts became erratic and stilled as he came deep inside you with a shout, coating your walls in thick ropes of his release. He gave a few more shallow thrusts, his cock still twitching as he came down from his high.
Ransom stilled for a minute and just enjoyed feeling the aftershocks of your orgasm still pulsating around him. When he finally pulled he collapsed beside you, both of you panting as you tried to catch your breaths back in your post coital glow. A pleasant warmth could be felt as your combined releases trickled down your leg. Ransom let out a satisfied sigh causing a little giggle to escape your lips.
“What are you laughing at?” Ransom turned to face you, his face still flushed from all the exertion.
“It’s nothing. I just can’t believe we did that,” you covered your eyes with the back of your arm.
“Better believe it sweetheart, it’ll be happening a lot more from now on,” he said smugly.
“Oh yeah, how do you work that one out?” you removed your arm and turned to look at him, eyebrows raised.
“Because there isn’t anyone else who can fuck you like I can,” there wasn’t a trace of doubt in his voice.
“Maybe,” you shrugged.
Ransom growled and rolled over you, pinning you to the bed. You could feel your arousal pooling again.
“Can I make a deal with the devil?” you asked before leaning up and biting on his bottom lip.
“Go on sweetheart. Try me,” he sounded amused.
“If we manage to break your fancy bed tonight, then we can keep fucking,” you trailed your finger down his sternum.
“I think we can manage that sweetheart,” he smirked before lowering his mouth to yours again.

wrote some second or third age Maglor for y’all
Maglor sat by the sea with his eyes closed and tried to imagine he was looking not west, but east, that he sat on the shore of Elvenhome on a bed of jewels and cast his eyes across the water to the land he’d never known where ages ago his forefathers had awoken beneath the stars.
He wished he could still imagine the woods and wild places of Middle-Earth. That he did not have to know them as he did.
He wished he could walk the streets of Tirion upon Túna having denounced his father and the entire selfish folly of his people. He could have stayed behind. He could still dwell in Valinor’s bliss as if all was still young in the world.
“You know,” said a voice that throbbed in the waves against his feet. “I always thought your folk belonged over here.”
Maglor opened his eyes.
In the beginning Ulmo hadn’t done much speaking, but Maglor was familiar enough with the Valar to sense when one was near. It seemed the Lord of Waters had done a lot of hanging around those first couple decades, and Maglor had always been aware of it, but for a long time neither of them spoke.
By now, though, Ulmo had been the only company Maglor got for years, and for his part he seemed to understand Maglor- at least, he understood that appearing in the form of storm-lashed waves, teeth, and chains wasn’t the best way to put his friend at ease, and had learned to adopt a much more palatable shape when he visited the lonely Fëanorian by the sea.
The gentle, foaming tide swelled slightly and started to grow, water piling atop itself like droplets gathered on a coin, drawing strings of kelp and broken shells into the gently swirling pillar of seawater until it was seven feet tall and shaped roughly to the outline of a person. It was a hissing sea spray that passed from bottom to top and turned that tower of cold water into an actual being.
Ulmo was rather scrawny for such a powerful being, with gangly long limbs and a beard tinged green with algae. There were shells and sea stars caught in his tangled dark hair, forming a sort of makeshift crown, and barnacles crusted the sides of his simple canvas clothing. He wore a chain around his waist like a belt, rusty and adorned with colonies of zebra mussels. When he turned his eyes to Maglor, they were very still and the same color as wells of deep water undisturbed for decades.
Ulmo smiled shyly and rubbed the back of his neck, then he plopped down alongside Maglor with his long legs sprawled in front of him.
“Middle-Earth is meant to be yours.”
“Yes, well. I’d rather we didn’t have it.”
Maglor made a point of not looking Ulmo in the eye. Last time he had, he’d noticed a gleam of silver and golden luminance shining from the far depths and it had made his hand burn terribly. “We were happy in Valinor.”
Was it strange to sit with one of the greatest powers in the world and feel absolutely no discomfort? Probably. But strange was the normal in Maglor’s experience.
Ulmo shrugged. After a long silence he said “Your songs weren’t very good.” Then, when he only got another in reply: “They’re much better now.”
“I’m glad you think indescribable suffering has made me a better singer,” Maglor said flatly. “I wouldn’t be inclined to agree.”
Ulmo laughed at that. Misplaced, perhaps, but it was a merry sound and hearty. It stirred up Maglor’s spirit like a riptide tugging at his feet.
“You belong here, Maglor,” Ulmo said. He almost sounded playful, with his voice coming from both his mouth and the sea itself. “Your home isn’t with the Valar. It never was.”
“You speak rather strangely,” Maglor huffed, “especially for one of them. Aulë never talked like you do. Or Nienna, or Manwë, or any of the other powers I met. None of them talk like you.”
“Am I too casual for your liking?”
Ulmo’s image fuzzed; for a second his face was lined with age and wisdom and his simple clothing turned to shimmering silver mail patterned like a fish’s scales. His deep eyes grew hostile. Unpredictable. Dangerous. He loomed tall and terrible, fixing Maglor in his stormy gaze.
“I can take a form more well-suited to my power, if that be thine will.”
Immediately Maglor turned his eyes to the ground and kept them there.
“No, no. Please. The way you were is fine.”
Ulmo’s laugh was the rushing of the tide as he seemed to shrink back to his previous stature, the scrawny, unimpressive man all covered in barnacles and all the ocean’s little clinging things. He stretched his legs out on the sand.
“No, I’m not really like the others. Aulë shapes the earth, Varda crafts the stars, Yavannah calls life out of the soil. They love these things, but in the end their domains are things they can make with their hands. It’s not like that for me. I am the water, you see.”
Maglor looked out at the distant horizon and it seemed to him that as Ulmo spoke he saw a glimmer beneath the waves. The same golden-silver luminance that haunted his every thought. He looked back at the sand, but not quick enough to stop his right hand burning with the memory of phantom pain.
Ulmo watched his companion draw his hand into his cloak and wrap it there. He gazed steadily out at the line of sea and sky for a long moment before he spoke.
“It’s safe, if you want to know.”
The color drained from Maglor’s cheeks.
“I don’t.”
“I keep an eye on it.”
For a while, Ulmo said no more of the cursed Silmaril, and Maglor happily let the silence stand. It could have been hours before the sea spoke again.
“It’s strange. Manwë said that it would be dangerous, but beautiful and strange beyond comprehension. Yet... to me...”
Another long pause. Then, abruptly, fingers gentle and warm as a spring bubbling from the earth touched Maglor’s ear, tracing the pearl stud he wore there carefully, reverently.
“More beautiful than the light of the Silmaril is the son of the one who wrought it.”
At that Maglor started. He turned his head and looked at Ulmo, who was smiling gently, and then in some awful spur-of-the-moment desperation he leaned forward and kissed the Lord of Waters without any provocation to do so.
Ulmo stiffened, just for a moment, but he quickly relaxed, leaned into Maglor, let out a sigh that sounded like the hissing of gentle mist.
He tasted like sweet spring water and rain.
Maglor made a sound in the deep of his throat like a needy groan. He hadn’t touched someone like this in so long. Too long. Ages of the world. Too long since he had been held by another living being and he was breathing in a perfume of brisk sea air.
Ulmo moved. He leaned back, pulled away, his hand slowly falling from Maglor’s cheek and closing to a hesitant fist in front of him.
There was a bright blush high on his cheeks.
Ulmo exhaled, he laughed lightly and awkwardly, and then at once he was gone in a sheet of icy rain.
Maglor blinked the water from his eyes.
Had he kissed one of the Valar? He’d just kissed one of the Valar.
His head was spinning with visions of whirlpools and swirling rains.
He wanted to sing about rivers.
Maglor looked again to the distant sea, but he didn’t see any glow this time beneath the waves.

Ignite the Water
warning a head of time for injuries related to burns
I won’t get too graphic, but it will have some people getting badly burned
anyway this is for @sammywolfgirl siren au
this is just a random idea of something that could happen, just a fic bug that wouldn’t leave me alone
and maybe a way for Neon J and his boys to earn the trust of some more of the pod
I also need to stop picking on my May, but she’s one of my fave characters so 😔
--------------------------------
Mayday had learned her lesson a long time ago that not all humans can be trusted. And yet she couldn’t help her curiosity, though she was at least more cautious now; observing first and then trying to find out if they’re friendly.
It’s worked so far, given that Neon J and his boys were perfectly fine. Just stranded till they could all their parts for their.. radio was it? May had no clue what a radio was but it was clearly important enough to get them un-stranded. So while certain sirenfolk still avoided them, they did at least keep an eye for the missing pieces.
If only to get them out of here faster.
‘Well to each their own I suppose.’ Mayday though to herself as she swam towards the island the humans were on.
They were a fun group to talk to, and besides, she had found some human things. She had them wrapped in a bag she had found. She had no idea if it was any of the parts they needed, but might as well check. Getting close she decided to peak her head over the water to make sure no other humans were nearby. Upon seeing the coast was clear, she headed to the shore where she could see two of the boys, Eloni and Haym, wandering around.
Resurfacing once again with a small splash she called out to them. “Hey guys!”
The two turned around as got as close to the shore as she could. “I found these things. No idea if it’s any of the stuff you need but”
Haym took the bag from her outstretched hand and started rummaging through it. “Hmm, I’m not sure, a lot of this is so covered in algae it’s hard to tell what it is. I’ll take it to the captain so he can see.”
Haym walked off further into the island, leaving Mayday alone with Eloni. He was the more quiet one of the group. But May though he was fun once you got to know him.
“So any luck finding any of the pieces yourself?”
“Not really.” Eloni shrugged. “We did find some scraps of our ship we might be able to use on the radio, though the Captain isn’t sure yet.”
“Hmm.” Mayday couldn’t help but feel a bit bad for them.
She couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to be separated from pretty much everyone you knew like this, to the point where you couldn’t even call for help, much less them.
“Well, I’m sure you’ll get that radio thing of yours fixed in no time.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Hey Eloni! Get over here the captain needs our help!” one of the brothers called from far away.
“Oh. Uh, sorry May I gotta go.”
“It’s fine! I’ll keep an eye for more parts.”
May backflipped into deeper waters and swam off under the sea. She had no desire to go home to Zuke yet, as she was quite restless and wanted to do some exploring. As she swam further out into the ocean, she kept looking for any pieces that may have drifted out this far. So far, no luck. As she swam further and further out, she began to doubt even more that she would find pieces. After all, they didn’t start having problems out this far.
Mayday was beginning to get ready to head back when a sudden sound caught her attention. Glancing around the ocean and straining her ears, she listened. again she heard the sound, and felt the vibrations. Straight ahead. She swam a ways out trying to see what the commotion was. There. A large shape was sitting on top of the water and, upon surfacing, May saw that it was a very large ship.
Keeping only half hear head above water to make her hard to spot she checked out the ship. She saw no fishing nets on this ship, so they weren’t fishers. No weapons like harpoons either so that’s good. A lot of boxes though, and the lower part of the ship itself was huge. Much bigger than a normal ship.
‘I wonder what’s in that part?’ May thought to herself.
“What are you doing out here?”
May startled at the voice and almost jumped out of the water. Glancing behind her she could see part of Sayu’s group behind her, Tila and Dodo, as well as Sayu herself.
“You have got to stop doing that.” May muttered. “And I was looking for more of their parts.” She gestured at the island behind her.
“Out here?” Dodo asked tilting his head.
“I got restless” May shrugged her shoulders “I was going to turn around when I heard something and found that ship over there.”
Seeing the looks are their faces, May had to bite back a retort. She couldn’t blame after what happened last time she was being reckless.
“I'm not going near it, besides I think they’re just carrying human stuff to others. I don’t see any nets or weapons so... What did Subatomic call them?”
“Cargo ships I think?” Tila supplied.
“Yeah I think that was it...but....” Mayday trailed off. “Should we tell the guys on the island? I mean if they can get those humans’ attention then they wouldn’t need to fix their radio right?”
“That is true but wouldn’t that be dangerous for us?” Dodo asked.
“Maybe if we just stayed really low under water they won’t see us?” Tilas suggested.
“I can go tell everyone underneath to stay down low. I’ll swing by the island first and tell that captain though.” Sayu said, and was off in a splash.
Sayu, like May, was one of the fastest swimmers around here. She’d have the word spread in just a few minutes.
“I guess we should leave too” May started to follow Tila and Dodo when some movement caught the corner of her eye.
Turning around she saw another boat this one much smaller.
“What is it?”
Mayday answered Tila “There’s another boat now.”
Tila and Dodo glanced over her shoulder to see the small boat moving along the waters towards the larger boat.
“Huh. Where’d they come from?” Dodo questioned.
“And what are they doing?” May asked.
This boat was odd to say the least. It was moving around slowly, staying behind rocks, and using the deep fog bank that had rolled in to stay fairly hidden. If it weren’t for that fact siren’s had good hearing and could feel vibrations in the water, they probably wouldn’t have noticed it. It putted around till it finally started to get much closer to the ship.
“....you two head back home. I’m gonna spy and see if I can’t figure out what they’re up to.”
May then dove into the waters with a quiet splash and began to move closer to the two vessels. Keeping enough of a distance she watched from below to find a safe place to surface. She was able to find a bunch of rocks that would fully conceal her, but still let her see. Peeking just above the water, she could now see the small boat better. It was just a basic boat, though it had a strange large container on the back of it.
She watched as the two humans on the boat pulled on a hose attached to the container and lifted it up to the big ship. The end had a sharp bit on the end. Mayday tilted her head in confusion.
“What are they doing?”
Again May found herself jumping at Tila’s sudden appearance. The young siren had a terrible habit of sneaking up on others. Not that May was better mind you, at least according to Zuke.
“I told you to go home!”
“No.” was Dodo’s only reply.
May raised a brow at him and sighed. “then stay down and be quiet, I don’t know if they can hear us from here.”
“Get that thing ready, and be quiet! We don’t need them up there seeing us.”
“You got it boss.”
The human then heaved the hose thing up to the side of the ship, and the sharp bit began to spin. He pressed into the side of the larger ship, until it sunk completely in. It was hard to see what he did next, but whatever it was kept the hose of the side of the ship without having to be held there.
“We need to tell someone I think.”
May nodded to Dodo. “How fast do you two think you can get to hat island to tell Neon J and the others?”
“What about you?” Tila asked.
“I’m gonna keep an eye on them, would rather have you two away from here though.”
The two hesitated, before reluctantly giving in and sinking below the waters.  Mayday turned her attention back to the two suspicious humans, still confused on what they were doing. She could see something moving from the hose to the containers but hose wasn’t sure what.
--------------------------------------------------------
Tila swam with Dodo as fast as she could to the island, hoping Mayday would stay out of sight. The two swam so quickly they didn’t notice the blur that swished past them, nor did they notice it stop and turn back around. The two surfaced near the shore of the island and saw Neon J with all five boys.
“NEON J!”
Said man turned at Dodo’s shout “Yes...um Dodo was it?”
“Yeah but that’s not important, it’s about the ship.”
“Ah yes! Sayu  already told me, we’re working on a flare to get their attention.”
“That’s not we want to talk to you about.” Tila inputted.
“What are you two talking about, I though you all would have gone home.” Sayu swam up behind them, having turned around when she saw them going to the island.
“We saw another boat out there, and spied on it.’
“Tila, Dodo.” there was a worried tone in Sayu’s voice.
“Mayday might have told us to go back, and we might of...not listened?” Dodo sheepishly shrugged his shoulders.
“Anyway she’s still out there watching them, but they snuck up to the big boat and stuck something to the side of it.” Tila continued.
This had Neon’s attention. “What did they do next? What was it they attached?”
“Like, some kind of hose, and it was also connected to a containers. I think it was pulling something out of the ship but I don’t know what.”
Neon J seemed to think for a moment before answering “Oil thieves.”
“Oil?” Sayu asked with a head tilt.
“It’s a human fuel source. Listen one of you definitely needs to warn the sirens to stay low, and another needs to tell Mayday to get out of there. If they mess up and spill that oil, it would be very toxic to you.”
Sayu turned to Tila and Dodo “You go home, and warn the pod. I’ll get Mayday, and this time you do need to listen, do you understand?”
Tila and Dodo nodded, and dived down towards their home. Sayu quickly swam back to where May was to warn her.
Rin turned to Neon J “Captain? what do we do now?”
“Play it by ear soldier. If Sayu and May can get out of there in time we’ll be fine to alert them, but we also don’t want to startle those thieves into spilling the oil.”
Rin simply nodded, while the others exchanged worried glances.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mayday watched as more of whatever was in the ship was moved to their boat.
“We should be done soon. Make sure you have that patch ready, we don’t need them to know we were here.”
“Understood.”
“Mayday!”
The whispered shout got May to spin around, and she found herself face to face with Sayu.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were going to warn the pod.”
“I was when Tila and Dodo told me and the humans what was going on. So I sent them in my place, and I’m here to get you.”
The two sirens were so focused on their conversation, they didn’t notice the human getting ready to remove the hose.
“Get me?” Mayday asked, confused. “What do you mean?”
The hose slipped out of the human’s hands, as a black substance spilled in the water. They two didn’t notice when the other started berating the other’s mistake.
“Neon J says they’re...oil thieves? And that if it spills in the water we’ll be in trouble we need to get away from here!”
The human that dropped the hose fell back, knocking the lantern they had on the boat into the water.
“YOU IDIOT!”
This had the sirens’ attention, and they turned back just i time to see the lantern hit the now black water. It happened in seconds.
“FIRE!” Sayu screeched, as the ocean surface was set ablaze. The two quickly let their rocky alcove to try and run, only to find the oil had spread all over, and so had the fire.
“Oh what do we do?” Sayu asked panicked.
“We gotta find a safe way out! Do you see anywhere where there’s no fire?”
The two looked around desperately, the heat of the fire making their scales out of the water dry up.
“There!”
May looked to where Sayu pointed, where there was a thing, but fire free path out to the ocean. Unfortunately it was only one siren wide and also unfortunately, those humans had drifted over trying to escape the blaze themselves. the two looked at each other, knowing they were going to have to be cutting this close to not only escape the fire, but remain undetected.
“Let’s go”
Sayu nodded and the two dove forward. It wasn’t safe to go underwater nay more, there was so much oil underneath, and May could feel it coating her scales. She pushed Sayu in front, wanting her to get to safety first. The two had to go under briefly to avoid being seen by the humans. The water was thick and murky, breathing it in hurt her gills and eyes, but she pressed forward. Peeking over the water she could see not only were they on the other side of the boat now, but the humans were too focused on the blaze to notice them.
She tapped Sayu and motioned her forward, and the two went to keep moving. but something went wrong. May has no idea what happened, it went so quickly but oil suddenly spilt out from the humans’ boat and soaked her.
May grimaced at the feeling of the thick gross substance, and it was likely why she didn’t notice the fire creeping closer. At least not till her body was in agonizing pain, the oil on her body letting the fire travel up it with ease. She thinks she screamed, not caring if the humans heard her. It hurt. It hurt so bad. The ocean had to much oil in it to put her out.
The next thing May knew she was away from the fire on the water, she thinks Sayu pulled her out before she was shoved under the surface. It took several times before the fire was out, she thinks. It felt lie she was still on fire though, so much of her body burned.
Mayday shook and found her body locking up form the pain, and once again Sayu had to tug her forward. She doesn’t know how long Sayu dragged her. Her eyes and gills stung from the oil, her back and tail hurt so much that the water brushing over it sent spikes of pain along her body.
“WHAT IN THE OCEAN HAPPENED TO YOU TWO?!”
That voice sounded familiar, and May weakly lifted her head to try and see who was approaching. But the oil in her eyes made everything too blurry, and she was just trying not to pass out. She felt hands on her face, and squinting she could vaguely make out Yinu’s mother. The child was no where to be seen as much and Mayday could tell, but it was probably best she didn’t see them like this.
Glancing over she could see Sayu covered in just as much oil, her eyes red and black from the substance. Her gills were black too, and May wondered if that’s what she looked like. A sudden brush against her raw back and her jolt back and writhe in pain.
“I’m sorry but you need to hold still so I can look at you.”
“c-can’t, don’t touch, h-hurts.” May thinks she might have been crying but with so much oil in her eyes it was hard to do.
“What happened here?!”
Oh. That was Tatiana. She had been more or less avoiding the pod after what happened with.... So this was awkward. Or at least it would be if she wasn’t just trying to stay awake.
“T-there was a ship, we went to tell the people on the island so maybe they could go home.” Sayu gagged and coughed. “The-there were bad humans though, tr-tried to steal the oil? its what Neon J called it? I-i went to get May so we could leave, and it go into the water and then there was a fire.”
“and when we were swimming away, Mayday got oil spilled on her, and then the fire touched her and”
A coughing fit, she thinks she could hear Tila and Dodo talking now, likely filling in on the details that Sayu missed. Black filled the edges of her vision, though not from the oil this time. Her head grew heavy and she thinks someone was shouting for her to stay awake, but everything just hurt too much.
--------------------------------------------
“Hey! Hey don’t pass out on me!” Yinu’s mother felt May’s body go completely limp in her arms.
“We need to get her help now.” Tatiana spoke.
The siren’s body was in bad condition, her gills were black with this oil substance, that also completely coated her underside and her eyes. Her back was burned red, with hardly any scales left, and some still flaking off.
“I don’t know what this oil stuff is though, it wont come off!”
She swiped a hand on the gunk and hardly got any off, as the rest clung stubbornly to the young siren’s scales.
“M-maybe Neon J could help?”
Yinu’s mother couldn’t help but growl at the name of the human.
Tila flinched but continued “I know you don’t trust him, but please. He knows what this stuff is, so maybe he could get it off of them?”
She looked to Tatiana who looked just as conflicted as her. The woman let out a sigh and flicked her tail in irritation.
“Very well. but someone needs to go up with them to watch over them.”
“I’ll go” Yinu’s mother volunteered, and hse then turned to Tila and Dodo. “One of you should go tell Zuke.”
Dodo’s eyes widened “oh, shoot!” And he swam off to where the young siren lived with Mayday.
The larger siren cradled May to her with one arm, and took Sayu in the other, swimming to the island. She surfaced after checking it was safe, and could see the humans on the island. They startled at her appearance, as she was a good sized siren and they hadn’t seen her yet.
Good. She could use their unease to ensure the two sirens weren’t hurt.
The oldest of the group, who she assumed was Neon J, spoke first. “He-hello? I don’t think we’ve met yet, can we help you?”
She lifted herself out of the water more, showing the two injured sirens.
“OH MY GOODNESS! QUICK BRING THEM HERE!” RIN AND ZIMELU GO GET THE RAGS AND SOAP WE HAVE, PURL HEW GET THE MED KIT!”
She watched as the three boys ran off further onto the land. She hesitated before heading over to the shire, she set them in the shallows, Mayday whimpering as she was put down. At least she wasn’t completely out cold anymore, but she definitely wasn’t out of danger yet.
“I will be staying here and watching you.” Her voice was low and sharp. “Don’t try any funny business.”
Neon J simply nodded at her as his boys came back with his supplies. “I will do everything I can.”
A splash caught her attention, and the next thing she Knew Zuke was by her side.
“Wh- MAY! SAYU!” Zuke’s voice was frantic. “What happened?!”
“I need to know that as well.” Neon J asked as he had some of those rags with a foamy substance on them in his hand. She watched as he began to gently wipe off the oil from May’s scales with the young green haired one, while some of his other boys worked on Sayu.
“According to Sayu those humans that were stealing this.. oil stuff, spilled it into he water and it caught fire. When they were running away, Mayday got oil spilt on her before she was set on fire.”
The human winced “Yes, that would explain these horrible burns.”
“Will they be okay?” Zuke asked him.
“Right now we need to get this oil off them, this soap should help, and then well need flush out their systems with some water to get it out of their gills and eyes.”
“...and....her burns?”
The man paused and sighed. “I need to know if you all have anything that you use to treat burns, or something that could keep it in place so the water doesn’t wash it off.”
“uh yeah?”
“Then can you please get it?”
Zuke hesitated for a minute before she spoke up “I will stay with them, please. Go to our pod and get the supplies.”
He hesitated once more before diving away, and she turned back to him with a questioning look.
he glance at her before speaking. “I will treat her burns as much as I can, but you need to prepare her for the fact that some of these burns will never go away, and that it is likely some of her scales won’t grow back.”
She sighed “I was afraid of that.”
It was sometime later that they managed to clean the girls completely of oil,  and Zuke had returned with medicine. He spread it carefully over Mayday’s back and tail, before wrapping them up.
“They’re going to be weak for a couple of days, if they start coughing up oil bring them back to the surface so we can flush their system again.”
By this time May had woken up, wincing every time he put the medicine on her and as she was being wrapped up. The girls looked exhausted, especially May.
“They should be good to go back now. They’ll need to take it easy for a while.”
“What about the humans?” Zuke asked.
“The people are mostly gone, and now there’s only a clean up crew. But we won’t be trying to signal them, too risky that they’ll find you all. The two criminals have likely been arrested.”
“But you won’t be able to go home now?” Zuke had Mayday leaning on him, while Yinu’s mother held Sayu.
“It’s not worth the risk to you all.”
As they left to return home, she turned back and gave Neon J a nod of thanks. He proved himself helpful in treating the girls and wasn’t willing to risk their safety just to leave. She may not fully trust him, but he was shaping up to not be a bad human after all.
