Okay I have to ask: do you guys believe people when they say they have an onion allergy (or any other uncommon allergy). Because istg people will TRY to put MORE ONIONS in EVERYTHING after learning I have it - almost as if to try and “disprove” it.

So my stepdad decided that I'm not actually allergic to onions, because he got upset over my mother making a separate pan of food for me to leave out the onions.
Me and my mother both attempted to try and correct him, but he was in full belief that I'm lying about a food allergy.
So uh. now I'm nervous to eat in my own household because he said a lot of things implying he would hide onions in food, and ended it with "you wouldn't even know it" which has just solidified the paranoia of eating anything

Appetizers and Snacks - Tomato Salsa without Onions Recipe
Tumblr media
Without onions, this chunky tomato salsa has an authentic flavor. As a result of the poblano pepper being roasted, it has a wonderful smoky flavor.

The onion is indeed a beautiful creation... Unfortunately, God has decided that I was too much of sin as I have been cast with an onion allergy.
It just adds to my list of grievances against him.

Onion free tacos
Ok, it took a while but I think I finally made a decent beef taco (+seasoning) recipe without onion! A few folks asked for an update when i figured it out so here you go, It doesn't taste exactly like the store bought (old el passo) stuff, but i still think it's really good!
For 1kg of beef taco mince, i added:
Black pepper
Oregano
Smoked paprika
Minced garlic
Minced ginger (this really helped make up for the savoury flavour that you loose when you take out the onion)
Garlic/herb salt
Coriander (cilantro)
Siracha sauce (add little bits at a time, or it becomes overwhelming. If you dont like spice, only add a very small amount)
Beef stock (be careful to check the stock has no onion, most do but the brand "Massel" in Australia is safe)
Ketchup (NOT TOMATO SAUCE as tomato sauce has onion in it and tends to be sweater than ketchup - though that might vary depending on where you are - e.g. american ketchup is WAY sweeter than what we have in Australia. for Australians, Heinz tomato ketchup is safe. You can also use tomato paste concentrate for something more neutral, just make sure to add more beef stock if you do)
Chili flakes - i used hot flakes, but they come in medium and mild too if you're not into spice
Kidney beans
Cook the mince in a frying pan and add the seasoning/sauces/beans while cooking. Once done, serve with cheese, sour cream, any salad you like (my partner adds cherry tomatos and lettuce) and either siracha sauce or ketchup (most of the hot sauces and taco sauces have onion in them too). If you're making soft tacos/buritos, I also recommend getting all the meat out of the pan and frying the whole taco in it to melt everything together using the leftover juices/oils! The only downside of this recipe is that it is very oily, so be prepared for that lol.
I kind of just threw everything in the pan until it started smelling good so I don't have exact measurements, but I can update with those once I've made these a few more times.
Also, for folks who are allergic to garlic and onion, I found this recipe. I personally didn't like it, but my support worker (who is allergic to both) made it, and she said she enjoyed it. It does have spring onions in it, but you can take them out, and it doesn't seem to change much if they're an issue for you.

What's worse: Duke Cody doesn't carry an epipen for his incredibly bad allergy because toxic masculinity (absolutely a possibility given the character archetype) OR Duke Cody didn't have his epipen readily at hand because he assumed his very close friend would be considerate of his very serious allergy (also entirely likely and possible AND tragic because miles is such a piece of shit)?

Aurora Orianus, eating a beef steak covered in onions and mushrooms: I can't remember if I'm allergic to this or not, but either way it's a later me problem for later and not a me now problem, so I don't care!
Erandur, taking the dish from her: How about no.

I just thought of another thing in the shower about how easy it was for miles to kill duke and how it further shows how little he care for anyone other than himself. (And Kinda shows how all his friends are self centered) and im not even talking about the emotional or mental toll it takes to kill a person.
Miles never originally planned on killing duke. At least not at the party. But when duke forced his hand all it took was for mile to poor some pineapple juice in his drink.
A Pineapple allergy which is apparently so severe a drop is enough to kill him
An allergy that miles was fully aware of but had no issue about still having pineapple juice with all the drinks, making it so so easily for cross contamination to happen. (Honestly up until the reveal i thought thats what happened, that his death was just a coincidence. A byproduct of miles apathy about his “friends” well being)
Dukes murder was just miles lucking out on his carelessness about having the perfect murder weapon on hand.
Side note: I could be wrong on this but its worth noting that the only person besides miles that seems aware of this allergy was his gf despite them all being friends for years

I feel like I just did a trust fall with Trader Joe's. They better not fing drop me.
I have weird food allergies - not the main ones that are heavily recognized & labeled, so it takes a lot of investigation/reaching out to find if a product is safe. Because of this, I make practically everything from scratch. It's laborious. And damn...I just really wanted pepperoni. Fingers crossed.
