When Someone Insults Ganyu, Bennett, and Nilou vs When Someone Insults Reader...

(Disclaimers: Might Be OOC, Mentions of Violence, & Quest/Genshin Impact Lore Spoilers!)

Ganyu

Okay, first of all: Yes, I am adding that stupid idiot cough Xin Cheng cough into this.

You were just following the Traveler and Paimon, joining Ganyu's Story Quest which, for some reason, was not completed yet. So, you decided to tag along to see Ganyu!

You weren't hyped when that beggar came out of nowhere and started to do all that fairytale stuff even you don't approve of—and you were someone that sticks themselves into your own head, thank you very much.

So when this man started to gain the audacity to insult Ganyu, you knew you had to step up and do something. No one, and you quite mean it, was going to insult her and get away with it.

"Hey!" You came out from your hiding spot (you're the Almighty Creator, you know it'll make the situation worse). "Just what the hell do you think you're doing, huh?"

Xin Cheng pales at the sight of your enraged figure. He stutters to make an excuse, but you cut him off. You're having none of it.

"Get your useless self out of here, before I decide to kick it down the mountains myself!"

To say that Ganyu was shocked that you were getting angry over a mortal was an understatement. She was beyond surprised that you even stood up for her.

But she did have to intervene with your threatening—after all, she is still an Adeptus. Protecting the people of Liyue was still her duty.

"Your Grace...Please let him go. I'm sure he already understands his mistake." Ganyu's soft voice only made your anger increase—she sounded so upset!

"Y-yes, please, Your Grace! I understand what I've done wrong, I—"

"Silence." You glare down at the mortal. Your turn back to Ganyu, and considered your choices. While you wanted to wreck absolute vengeance on this man, you also didn't want to hurt Ganyu's feelings more.

Guess you were going down Trauma Lane, then. You sigh, and stomp your feet as you turn around to glare at Xin Cheng, catching his petite form by surprise.

"If I ever see you do this again..." Your eyes narrow. "Believe me when I say it—you will be granted no mercy by any adeptus nor Rex Lapis himself. Now SCRAM!" With that, he was running for the hills. You weren't entirely satisfied, but you'll take it. For now.

What would Happen if Ganyu heard you get insulted? Well, first of all, she would gasp quietly to herself. What was this blasphemy? She's utterly horrified.

Ganyu thinks she might faint once she realizes you were nearby, checking out vendor goods next to where the gossipers were spilling terrible insults of your image.

"Y-Your Grace! Please accept my apology on behalf of the people of Liyue." Will literally run up to you and apologize for them. While she may not be the one who did it, she's still cares about the People of Liyue—and thus her reasoning as to why she's askign for the mercy of the Almighty Creator.

Your puzzled look turns to Ganyu. "Who are you apologizing for?" Ganyu blinks.

"The, uhm—the gossipers..?" You're still confused, until your eyes shine once recognition hits you like Truck-Kun.

"Ohhh, those dudes! Yeah, don't worry about them—they're pretty boring, saying the same thing like a broken record. Say—wanna shop with me? I'm paying, of course."

And that's how you got Ganyu to be more comfortable around you! :D

Bennett

Ah, our unlucky yet optimistic adventurer! This boy—he is good. He's cool, and he's rather awed by most of the kids in Mondstadt.

He was hanging out with Razor and Fischl when someone decides to insult him. this genuinely upsets him—after all, they were insulting his ability and his position in the Adventurer's Guild...

Already, Razor and Fischl were already up to defend him, but what they didn't expect is for the Almighty Creator (aka you) got to it first.

"I beg your pardon," you say through gritted teeth. "How exactly is having a bad luck aura got to do with ANYTHING related to being an adventurer?" You're glaring so many daggers you could practically say you were breaking all the walls. "Perhaps we'll see just how lucky you are when I send you to Dragon Spine and watch your dead corpses FREEZE TO DEATH?"

The insulters were paling the more you went on. Razor and Fischl aren't sure what to do—you're already there, dealing with the situation.

But Bennett? Well uh, like usual, his bad luck got the best of him, and he accidentally stumbles towards you (miraculously). He bumps into you, and you shift your gaze onto him.

"Uh—Sorry, Your Grace! I really didn't mean to bump into you, I swear!" Poor guy is scared because his bad luck affected him at the worst time of all. He thinks he might get killed.

You though? Oh, hell nah. Your gaze already soften, and you decided to show favoritism! You pull the boy into a hug, glaring at the insulters one more time as a warning to scram, before you go back to enjoying giving the boy affection!

But when Bennett hears you get insulted? Well, first of all, screw his bad luck because the insulters were quite literally telling him how bad of a Creator you were!

He immediately tries to avoid getting too deep into the discussion, trying to sway the topic elsewhere to no avail, and he pales when he realizes you were literally a few steps away from them!

And it seems his bad luck gets in the way again, because you just turned right as he was staring at you with shocked eyes!

However, instead of being mad, you were actually beaming when you see him. You wave at Bennett, smiling.

"Bennett! Help me choose some flowers, yeah?"

"Uhm—uh, Sure, Your Grace!"

And that's how the insulters were hiding in their homes for the rest of their lives as you merrily dragged Bennett out of that horrendous conversation.

Nilou

Honestly, do I need to say who decided to insult this amazing dancer?

Yes, it was fricking Azar again. What is up with this crazy old man, nobody knows. Perhaps you should put him in prison for a while until he's gained a sense of appreciation for the Arts. ALL of the Arts.

Apparently, when you had drilled fear into this man, he thought it only applied to flipping Nahida. As much as you love Nahida, you are not going to have Azar twists your words and make it seem like you grant him permission to snark down other people—especially the people of Zubayr Theater.

So when Azar finally decides to have scholars gain the nerve to insult Nilou on behalf of his stupid brain, you (of course) just had to get yourself involved with this.

"Excuse me, but since when did you have the audacity to judge someone else's profession of art, simply because it isn't 'academic' in any way?" You spat. "Where I come from, Art courses are necessary in order to move on in your academic life." When Nilou hears you, she, first of all, is grateful of you stepping up for her, and, second of all, very scared of what might be happening next.

The scholars pale, but they seem to have taken your comment as a debate.

"With all due respect, Your Grace, the Arts are anything but educational—"

"Was I looking for a second opinion, dimwit?" You narrow your eyes. "Besides, have you yourself ever tried the Art of Dancing or the Art of Music before?"

"Well—uhm, no, but—"

"Then shut up, then." The scholars begin to panic as your voice becomes low and dangerous. "You don't have an excuse to be judgmental if you haven't even tried this stuff yourself."

"Ex-Sage Azar told us to say this!" They blurt out, and that only increases your rage. Seeing that things might escalate, Nilou steps in.

"Your Grace, let's not be too harsh!" She exclaims, waving her hands frantically. "I'm sure they understand what they did wrong. There's no need to have them punished." You narrowed your eyes in disagreement, for a half second, Nilou thought she made the situation worse.

But when you sigh heavily, she knew you relented. You glare at the scholars again.

"Tell Azar if he does this again, to ANYONE, I'll cut his head off, and there's no more excuses there. In fact—bring me to him. I'll have a talk with him myself."

Yeah, Azar got traumatized again :)

But when Nilou hears you be insulted? Quite literally behind your back? She thought she was going to faint from the gossiper's comments alone! You being there to listen it to it all only made her feel worse.

She was about to confront them, until she saw other people nearby dealing with the situation. So, Nilou decides to check up and see if you were okay...After all, those comments weren't nice.

She was pretty shocked when she realized you were contemplating over wares instead, completely unbothered by the drama going on behind your back. Nevertheless, she was still going to apologize in case you were just hiding your emotions.

"Uhm, Your Grace—I would like to apologize on behalf of all of Zubayr Theater. We should've done something earlier." You look at her, confused.

"What are you apologizing for, Nilou?" You ask. She blinks.

"Uhm, the gossipers, Your Grace..?" Your eyes widen, before you bark a laugh.

"Oh, those dudes! Yeah—don't worry about them, honestly. Say—help me pick: should I get hot chocolate or tea from this lovely store?"

Let's just say you had a fun time hanging out with Nilou for the rest of the afternoon :)

This version of Grimsley I’m roleplaying is set after the events of Pokémon Black2 and White2.

*As stated before this blog was previous @grimsley-official. Because of this, several blog specific headcanons and lore details have carried over.

-Grimsley is bisexual and identifies as cis/gender non-conforming.

-He is in a relationship with Gym Leader Burgh. This relationship had played out with a previous Burgh blog that I am no longer in contact with. Because of this, assume his relationship with Burgh developed offscreen. Grimsley is currently engaged to Burgh. Questions about their relationship are welcome!

-Grimsley has several already established friendships with people such as @/castelia-pidove and @/darkpunkrocker. He is also the Uncle of Piers and Marnie @/piers-official.

Cosmic Indifference - a Murder Drones AU

Let's start things off by taking a step back. We are stuck in a hole beneath the ice and stone. It's boring here. Let's see the sights this planet has to offer.

...Hmm, strange. Did Uzi and her crew get smaller? Well, it's probably nothing to worry about.

Let's take another step back. Copper 9 implies that it's the 9th planet in this system. What are the others like? Do they have Drones? Are they plagued by Disassembly Drones and Solver infections?

Ok, the main cast is definitely smaller now. As if they're... becoming insignificant the farther back we go. But we can't stop now.

Another step back. The Copper system is but a singular solar system among untold trillions, and each and every one has its own stories. The traumas our favorite Drones face are so small from up here.

But what if we went even further? Now we are among not just the universe, but the multiverse. What manner of cosmic beings - gods, even - are out here? How do they perceive the Solver? Is it a great threat to them? Or is it a mere blip in the grand scheme of things? Uzi, N, V, J, Tessa, Khan, Nori, Yeva, Cyn, they are all mere specks of dust from up here, floating adrift in an unfeeling and uncaring universe. And, when you think about it, that's what they are; clumps of cosmic stardust created and given sentience by other dust clumps.

This world is indifferent to the plights of mortals. The gods do not care for the Drones, if they even know they're there. They are wrapped up in grander things. But what are these grander things? By studying the multiverse and the cosmic beings that govern its rules, what can we learn?

What happens when we embrace the Eldritch Truth?

I'm here because I've tried putting my head in the huge screen my friend gave me, and boy do I love the view here! A whole new dimension! Humans are so innovative...

I don't have a favorite color. Every color is pretty, people just don't know how to use them properly!

Don't have any favorite food or drink either. Nothing wrong with my nose, really, it's just... hmm, what was that again... if it makes more sense, my friend compares me to dogs sniffing poo and being fine with it.

I love music and painting and everything born of imagination! I genuinely can't express how much the arts give me life. Haha, maybe literally.

How To Write Family Fluff (and other randomness)

So @youcancallme-ray recently reached out to ask for my advice on writing fluff, specifically family fluff, and I mentioned that I've been wanting to write a proper post on this subject for a while, since this isn’t the first time I’ve been asked and sometimes it's useful to have another writer describe their perspective/process. First thing's first, always remember the #1 rule of writing - throw out all the rules and advice and write whatever you want to write. Seriously. Not everything that works for me will work for everyone. There’s no wrong way to write fluff or angst or anything. You do you.  But for me... I personally love stories with families. I just do. I love multiple generations interacting, I like big families, I like small families, broken families, powerful families, loving families, complicated families, babies, toddlers, small kids, teenage kids, parents, grandparents, fallings out, reconciliations, separations, reunions, birth scenes, deathbed scenes, and all the kitchen table scenes in between, love, love, love. All of it. Family, in all its wonderful, messy glory.  So this is all to say that I always tend to gravitate towards creative works that have a family vibe, whether natural or found family. Game of Thrones was almost unusual for me except...oh wait, everyone's related 😂 (plus they had zombies too, but that’s beyond the scope of fluff. Vlad’s not coming to any baby showers, I don’t care how many times he asks 🤣🙈) Anyway, I'm a proud daughter of House Mormont with a major House Tully streak (which is fitting, considering my two main fanfic projects right now focus on Jorah/Daenerys and Brynden/Roslin 😍). I'm a Huffleclaw or Ravenpuff, or whatever we're called 😂, from way back and you can hear it the name, give me all the fluff, fluff, FLUFF ❤ But what even is fluff, right? Romance, hurt/comfort, warm feelings? Webster's Dictionary defines fluff as "something fluffy" - I'm not making this up, I just googled it 😂 Stellar job with the wordsmithing, Merriam-Webster 😂 (it’s like that Jim Gaffigan skit where he’s like “have you ever looked up potato in the dictionary?” Noun: “potato, you know...potato”). Okay, I’m scrolling down...hmm, all right, I found this under "kids definition" (ummm, we have different dictionaries for different age groups now? who knew?): Fluff - to make or become fuller, lighter or softer. Oh yes. THIS. THERE WILL BE ACTUAL ADVICE HERE SOMEWHERE I PROMISE 😂🙈 Maybe I should make a list? Yes, a list would be good. Let's consider this Lady M's Semi-Official (And Certainly Non-Exhaustive) List of Creative Choices To Consider While Writing Family Fluff: 1. Know your characters. This goes for all writing adventures. But in fanfic, it's honestly make or break with the characters. Most readers are searching via character or relationship tags. They really don’t care about the rest of it (at least not at first). You’ve got to know the characters inside and out. And use canon/source material, of course, but what I really mean by this is you should try to stay true to your specific characterization. For instance, not everyone is going to write Jorah Mormont the same way. His character (like all characters) falls on a spectrum, one that contains a lovely array of personality traits - stubbornness, strength of will, survival instincts, romanticism, deep regret, etc. Some writers will draw on book lore, others will stick to show canon, some mix it up, all with similar but slightly different characterizations. And that’s awesome! Imo, all interpretations are VALID. Even the OOC interpretations of a character are valid, if that's what you want to do with it (it doesn’t mean all readers will be on board or that I’ll agree with it 😂🤷‍♀️, but that’s okay too). But whatever the characterization, within each one of my fics, I pay a lot of attention to consistency of character. Like, a lot. If I’m forcing an action or reaction on one character and it just doesn't feel right, I’m likely giving the action/reaction/dialogue to the wrong character. In that case, I will choose a different POV or rewrite the scene to see if having someone else say the line works better.

2. Remember kids aren't just props. This is a HUGE one, friends. Kids aren't made in a mold. They have distinct personalities and quirks of manner that show up crazy early in development, in my experience (and I believe @salzrand agrees with me - and she has the credentials to back it up 😘❤). If you're going to have kids in a story, I suggest thinking about how that kid will be like as an adult. Not their whole life story or anything (unless you get lost in your daydreaming 🤷‍♀️😂) but I try to think about what their future life might be like. Sometimes I'll just scribble for a while and maybe have the child narrate a short future scene, even a paragraph, to discover more about them before I continue with the chapter. I did this recently with Kitty Tully for my Brynlin fic, which may in fact lead to yet another fic because oops that’s what happens to me sometimes (ahem, or ALL THE TIME 😂). "Winter's Child" was my very first Jorah/Dany fic way back when, and that was narrated by Jeorgianna 🐻🌻, so yeah, I've been using this trick for a while.  Some fanfic writers don't like to lean too far into developing OCs and I totally get that (the ghost of Mary Sue will haunt fanfic realms forever 😂) but I always make an exception for the kids of my main pairings/OTPs because it's so interesting to explore how much of the father or mother (or other family members - see Daenielle/Grandpa Jeor for further details ❤) shows up (physically, personality-wise) in the child. This is also why I use the same children across fics. It gives legitimacy to their existence and leads to some exciting and fluffy cross-universe call-backs.  3. But also remember that babies can be the BEST props. This doesn’t work for older kids. But not gonna lie. Just from a scene-building perspective, if someone is holding a baby/toddler, so much can happen. The child can be picked up, handed off, tickled, lifted into the air, set down on the floor, crawling, cooing, crying, you get the idea. And that sort of action breaks up the “X" he said. "Y" she replied. really well sometimes :) 4. The magic of ordinary moments.

For me, personally, this is where I find the fluff (in all writing, not just fanfic) 😎 I like finding the joy and sparkle in everyday moments. It's slightly easier to find or create these moments in modern AUs, only because I don't have to research what it's like to go to the movies or a school play or whatever. Less easy to find family-friendly activities in the Red-Wedding/Twincest-Push-Bran-Out-A-Window/Ned-Stark-Gets-His-Head-Chopped-Off/Murder-Child-Arya-In-Action landscape of Game of Thrones.  But there are still lots of things that transcend tragedy and medieval backdrops - food, nature, weather, festivals, putting a child to bed, reading stories together - and I'll typically choose something like this for setting the scene. And it really doesn't have to be much. After that, the characters do the heavy lifting. Daenerys and Jeorgianna observing a sleeping dragonfly in the garden. Jorah giving Aemon a piggy-back ride down to the harbor. Grandpa Jeor building a boat, Daenielle helping him sweep up his workshop. (i.e. Jade Sea Bears 😂🥰) 5. Don't forget the (minor) angst. Just because I’m writing a fluffy moment between characters, doesn't mean that there's no angst or sadness in it. A dash of past sadness or future wistfulness can be delicious in a fluff-heavy scene and save the whole scene from going too schmaltzy and sappy-sentimental.   6. Don't be afraid to end on the hug. Or the smile. Or the "I love you." Depends on what the scene calls for, obviously, but fluff is not about plot, it's about feeling. It's about taking words and images and character interactions and infusing them with something extra warm and soft. And just because the characters have said "I love you" to each other before doesn't mean they can't say it again. And again. It’s not very original but it is beautiful. Real life is cruel and hard sometimes. The world is filled-to-bursting with bitter, so I say add the sweet wherever possible <3  So this is not a comprehensive list (I'm not even sure what that list would look like 😂). But hopefully this inspires some of you who aren't natural fluff-writers to be less intimidated by the idea of trying it sometime or maybe just think about your own writing process and scene-crafting.  Either way, hope this helps and happy writing! Imagine if Quackbur left before any drama happened/affected them(Election, Wilbur's Death, Doomsday, Hog Hunt, etc.)

Them getting married in a village then chose to travel the outskirts of the SMP so they'd avoid the drama.

And then someone (Phil, Tommy, Sapnap, or someone close to their negative lores/side, maybe even Dream) finding them then Cue the drama they avoid.

Oh gosh. This sounds so peaceful but unlikely.. remember l'manberg already existed when Q was added to dsmp, and Will refused to let americans in plus he and Quackity already had history from minecraft mondays hence their rivalry...

And even if say Quackity joined during that sweet spot in time when l'manberg was still just a drug van, I'd think he would like to join rather than convince Will to leave. Maybe he'd distract Sapnap and Tubbo from Will doing drugs, maybe he'd play cop and arrest Wilbur himself. Idk

The moment L'manberg passed the declaration of independence to Dream, he handed them back a declaration of war... This means that, there's no point in time 'before drama' that doesn't require Wilbur. Him leaving before the drama means no drama would have happened lol

If you're talking about right after the war, that's pretty much when Quackity joined Canonly and as I said...

Hmm, if Wilbur didn't reject him then, maybe? But Wilbur struggled for this nation, and he was the leader... Not to mention, leaving Tommy Fundy and Tubbo behind after they lost a canon life for his cause (two in Tommy's case) so how could he leave

📚 What grammar mistakes do you always make?

Hoooo boy! 😂 So, aside from the typos we all make (that I usually spot at some point and correct), I have a bad history with dialogue. Not the actual dialogue itself - hopefully that's okayish - but dialogue tags, knowing whether or not to use commas or full stops, and whether any prose can come between the same character speaking in one paragraph... or whether the speech will need to be a new paragraph, even though it's the same speaker? I think I've recently got a better handle on it, so that's one of the things I'm going to correct in ABC. I've also recently been wrestling with the Oxford comma, which I never used to use, but now feel I use about 50% of the time. 😂 So I need to start using it properly.

Oh. And adverbs. My sworn enemy. I will be slaying many adverbs in ABC. I knew they weren't great and the amount made my writing sound mehhh when I read it, but Stephen King explained it best in his memoir/writing guide: basically, he says, unconfident writers often use adverbs because they don't think what they've written is enough to get across to the reader the way in which the character does something. What writers should do is trust their writing, and that the reader's subconscious will infer the tone. Adverbs are like spoonfeeding the reader when really you can let them eat by themselves.

💕 What is the WIP that you are most excited about?

Hehehe. You probably know about more of my WIPs than most people. 😂 This is a tricky question! My favourite WIP changes depending on my mood. At the moment... it's probably something called B'Stardly Principles. Shockingly, this involves Alan... and it also involves Rick. Oh dear.

🗑️ What is one fic idea that you loved at first but then scrapped?

In 2019 I had a crack fic idea to parody The Little Mermaid with Rivyan and set it in Blackpool. I even developed a whole mermaid lore. However... it's probably not gonna happen. 😂 It's at the very bottom of the priority list. There are a few other WIPs (maybe 4) I mentioned on Tumblr some months ago in an ask game that I'm also feeling kinda meh about these days, but I think I will write them at some point. Just might be a while.

👀 Do you have any words/phrases you use habitually?

The thing is, if I was writing or reading back what I've written right now then I could tell you. 😂 The only one I can think of now is: "Character knew they *insert thing they know*, but then, *question*?" I don't know if that makes sense, but there you go. 😂

🙅 What is one trope you refuse to ever write?

Hmm. I don't think I'd ever use that trope where a writer makes Character A out to be irredeemably horrible just so they can pair up Character B and Character C. I believe TV Tropes calls it Ron the Death Eater - character bashing, basically. I can't really see that being an issue with the fandoms I write for now, because they're all bastards anyway, but I think it's a kinda tired and petty shipping war mentality. That said, when parodied? Fucking hilarious. 😂

(And just to clarify, I'm not saying writers starting with one ship, breaking them up, and ending with a different ship is bad or anything. It's the leftover person from the first ship being unnecessarily demonised to the point where they're severely OOC and it's obvious the writer just doesn't like them that I find tiring. Haven't seen that in this fandom, thankfully.)
