Whumptober Day 5: “You better pray I don’t get up this time around”

Ganondorf knows that he’s dying.

He’s struggling to breath under the piles of stone pinning him down, his own castle fallen down around him as the magic holding it up failed on him. He can taste blood in his mouth and feel where its seeping out of the many wounds left by that cursed holy sword, and his skin still burns numbly from his own lightning magic being redirected at him.

A lesser man might have given up there and then, almost killed three times over and crushed under his own ambitions. Ganondorf is not that man. Instead, he only feels rage.

The Triforce of Power responds to his anger, lighting up the darkness that surrounds him with its golden light. He pulls on that light, mixes it in with magic of his own, and feels it run through his body.

His wounds begin to heal, cuts closing up, and skin growing back over burns. He feels stronger, better than he ever has before. It feels east to stand up and push away the stones that had pinned him down before. He feels larger somehow, like he’s growing taller.

He breaks his way free from the ruins of the castle, and the first thing he sees is the two Hylians who almost killed him, that boy — no, a hero wielding the legendary sword, and the princess who’d hidden herself from him for years, the holders of the other Triforce pieces.

He lets out a cry of rage. He’ll kill them first.
