I have a simple fascination and joy in the thought that, for the Ghost King AU, most of the time Danny is literally so normal compared to other ghosts.
Like, he’s a kid. He looks like a kid. Going by canon appearances, he is the most human looking ghost we see (aside from Ellie). Even Plasmius is more inhuman, which is where all the vampire jokes come from. Every single one of this enemies is off even in a human disguise. They’re not human, and people don’t expect them to be.
So aside from the implications of Danny looking like a child ghost, I wonder what other characters would think if they summon the Ghost King, expecting this huge monstrosity worse than anything they’ve ever seen, and getting a totally normal human-looking kid.
I’d be terrified. Because if horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that the most innocent and normal looking people are the worst monsters you’ve ever seen.
Like, what is he hiding??

also also. remember! Milgram mvs are based on the prisoners' perceptions. It's easy to read Kotoko's stance on the other prisoners from her view on them as pawns, but what does that mean for her, who sees herself as a dangerous beast who kills those lower than her?
Tumblr media
Yes, they are lower than her.. But she's still covered in human blood, a genuine monster with sharp teeth and a horrifying appearance. She sees herself how the little girl in orange saw her: A dangerous stranger. She wants to save the world, she wants to erase evil, but she's also afraid of herself and what she's become. She's terrfied of what that means. But it's too late to turn back.
Tumblr media
She's going to save everyone even if it costs her her humanity.

(joker voice) i show you non humanoid asset.. and you look at me in abject horror.... what if i tell you i have two separate aus for project meridian... one where asset is a catholic relic (human remains from martyrs regarded as divine) and everyone else are members of the clergy/priests.... and another where asset is a space elevator....a massive tall tower reaching to the skies meant to launch space shuttles of people to fix the meridian.....the rest of the cast are rocket scientists ..... what about then.... why so serious

don’t get me wrong I think the general interpretation of Leo being like “I put up a cocky front but deep down I don’t actually think I’m that great and that’s why I have something to prove” is good. It’s cool, plenty of drama/angst potential and probably what the creators were going for, I’m here for it.
But there is a distinct appeal to me of the slightly-to-the-left interpretation of Leo being like “it’s not a front, I know I’m that good/smart/skilled, but I also know I’m seen by others as just the goofball face man and that’s why I have something to prove.”
#Rottmnt#Wild metaphor incoming but it’s like the difference between a hersheys bar and fancy Ghirardelli or something#At the end of the day they’re both chocolate. But ones got a bit more depth.#where was I going with this again idk I got caught up in food metaphor#It’s like. With the first one it boils down to character A (in this case Leo) going “I’m useless because I’m not good at [thing]”#Resulting in those around him either going “of course you’re good at thing! Remember the time you were good at thing?”#Or sometimes “it doesn’t matter that you’re not good at [thing] we love you regardless of what you can provide”#And again THATS GOOD THATS SOME GOOD SHIT#I LOVE THAT#but with the latter it’s more like “I know I’m good at thing *but I don’t know how to prove it to you*”#And that gives you the best of both worlds where you CAN get character A feeling bad but not for their lack of thing#But because if no can see it surely they *must* be doing something wrong right?#And ALSO you get the characters around them getting all sorts of feelings of “we didn’t do enough to show we believe in them”#Or “we didn’t notice how hard they tried”#Cuz you can get that a little in the first one but it can come off as kinda meh cuz they didn’t actually do anything wrong#It also has more opportunities for emotions besides straight sadness#You can have anger and conflict of “why am I not good enough for you?!”#That straight sef deprecation doesn’t always allow for#You can also have jealously and envy that feels less toxic and more justified#Not that it strictly needs to be justified mind you#Sometimes some toxic feelings stemming from perceived inadequacy are fuckin *chefs kiss*#But again it’s abt the VARIETY yknow#This isn’t even about Rottmnt anymore I’m just rambling#It’s my post and I get to choose the bullshit tags

Daring a thought, but I genuinely think the Gerudo Valley's theme in OoT does so much heavy lifting in characterizing the gerudos as more than what they appear to be. There's a sense of gentle endurance to the never-ending rythm, it's super catchy but it's also strangely melancholic, strangely hopeful, and the brass comes reinforcing these two characteristics even harder; the two brasses in chorus giving the piece unity in heart. To top it all off, the hispanic influences give a richness and a maure-like history that deepens the other oriental themes of the other pieces of soundtrack connected to the gerudos, and it just... says so very much about this people, who they are, what they want, what their conflict could be?
I think there's no denying the almost shocking contrast that comes with going into Gerudo Valley for the first time, birthplace of Mr. Evil Guy and his pack of wicked thieves, and then being hit by... this.
The singular beauty and uniqueness of that setting, and everything wordlessly implied in that tune.

REDEMPTION!DURGE AND REDEMPTION! GORTASH
like i can't believe that's not an option
there's a whole scene where ketheric almost wants to redeem himself and whatnot but there's no such thing with gortash who doesnt even want to fight you, who admires you, likes you, AND has a sad backstory and history of childhood abuse??????
how about you and him go to the brain at the end and along with you he finds out he has been manipulated this whole time by the stinky brain he thought he could control (which he has no way of finding out normally because he fucking DIES)
and his pride gets absolutely destroyed because what the fuck he was the all powerful tyrant but he was a puppet this whole time??? so like whaoah kind of devastated
so because of that and because he has special feelings for durge he 180s and instead of being fried he teams up with you and your forces and after everything's over you go live quiet lives finally free of any shitty gods and tadpoles somewhere in the countryside because you're both human wreckages who just want some peace after all the shit they've been through, and both durge and gortash finally find it in each others arms because they only feel something when theyre together
there i fixed it

huge fan of the idea that flint cant handle what he dishes out.
they are too shy to be confrontational so as a result they let ppl walk all over them which i imagine results in pent up anger that they release thru talking shit behind ppls back .
and i get this impression from this exchange right here:
Tumblr media
flint talking poorly of the satellites, followed by "oh no i shouldnt have said that" implies he KNOWS he shouldnt be saying it and will get confronted for it, further implying hes done it before. cosmo's rant also implies this is a common occurrence that, tbh, he is rightfully angry for. and most of the things he points out abt flint in said rant arent wrong at all.
flint can talk big all they want, but never to someone's face bc they cant handle the confrontation that comes with it. it's cowardly, there's no self-respect to be had there. its just flints attempt to feel confident/better abt themselves. and i really hope to see more of this aspect of his character, ESPECIALLY in canon since, apparently, this 1.3 blogpost isnt explicitly canon (which saddens me every time i think about it.)
btw i feel the need to add on that i dont think flint's wrong or lying abt the satellites. What I'm condemning them for is the fact they're talking shit but then cant handle the consequences. If ur gonna talk behind peoples backs and stir the pot, you should be able to say the same shit to their face as well. Cosmo certainly doesnt appreciate how flint views his boys, but i feel like even HE would have a little more respect if flint just had enough courage to say it to his face.
But they dont, because they look up to Cosmo and dont want to be on his bad side, making it even more difficult for Flint to be confrontational . he has no desire to start problems with cosmo HIMSELF, just the satellites. (ppl forget this and treat it like flint has issues with cosmo, but thats not true . flint admires cosmo, likely due to his confidence and leadership skills since its smth flint craves having for himself, and erasing that aspect is a HUGE injustice to a really fun and interesting dynamic !)
i feel like the detail that flint likes drama ALSO plays a part in all this. enjoys drama, probably watches it from afar, but the moment it involves him, hes a total coward lmao

there actually are complexities to be mined from a story that contains casual slavery that most characters aren't particularly bothered by, including some of the slaves themselves, but you undermine that complexity and any claim to "nuance" when your immediate response to a true and verifiable claim ("Izutsumi was a slave") is to wax at length about how nice the slave conditions were compared to their previous slave conditions, then do some sleight of hand to reframe it as an issue with allowing minors to do whatever they want without a guardian.

I love how the show makes Private smart and a competent fighter despite his squishy, naive personality. Some media these days is so bad with its characters being one-dimensional and boxed to a single personality trait, but tpom actually has really in-depth characters

its honestly really disappointing to me at least that Adam is just gonna end up as a Mammon reskin. Like, I dunno I saw his design and I had some interesting thoughts about the first Man, yknow? I found it interesting that they have him demon like features, suggesting that maybe underneath his holier-than-thou appearance and attitude, he really isn't that different from the sinners he kills. But he hides that part away, acting formal and polite and as much of a good little Christian boy under the eyes of God. When God isn't looking though? He would show his true colours instantly....
But no. They just made the angel say fuck.

WIP Wednesday -- Gang Rejects Wild
or
A mid-TotK Wild reappears before the Chain but the don't believe it's him because of how changed he is.
******
“No! Don’t touch him!” Hyrule cried and jumped away, recoiling as if bitten. “That isn’t Wild!”
“How do you know?” Legend asked.
“He’s—it’s—full of malice, and poes and a strange magic that I don’t understand!” Hyrule said.
“Who are you and what do you want?” Time’s sword leveled at Wild’s throat.
“I’m Wild! Don’t you recognize me?” Wild answered with a betrayed look.
“You take the form of our brother but you aren’t him!” Hyrule accused.
“Guys! It’s me I swear! I’ve just… my adventure hasn’t been treating me well.”
“Show us your true form, Dark Link,” Time said coldly. “You aren’t fooling anyone hiding behind that face.”
“What are you talking about? This is my true form! I’m not Dark Link!” Wild replied vehemently.
“Put your sword down! That’s Wild!” Wind objected pushing Time’s blade away. “Can’t you see that he's hurt or sick or something?”
“Wind! Get back!” Legend dragged him away. “That’s not Wild. That’s only a trick!”

Being a druid, the Shadow Cursed Lands have been rough spiritually and emotionally for Majexatli. So since they were already so low, they figured they might as well take chances with Volo's offer to remove the parasite. They're surprisingly okay with the result, though not thrilled with their new look. Plus it probably wasn't the best impression on newly recruited Halsin, and I have to imagine it gave Karlach and Wyll a fright.

Would you recommend getting “Wings of Fire “ cuz I can’t really make my mind up whether or not to get it…
honestly? yeah! the first arc is pretty damn solid and a ton of fun, so even if the first five are the only ones you read, it'll be a good time. fun characters, cool concepts, Dragons As People... it's just neat. the first arc - Dragonet Prophecy through The Brightest Night - is the best of the three
the second one is fun too, with awesome new characters and concepts, but honestly? i'd recommend reading it just so that you understand the solo book Darkstalker, bc imo that is the BEST book in the series. it fucks so severely, im not even exaggerating. it. goes. Hard. but yeah arc two - Moon Rising through Darkness of Dragons - while not as good as the first one, is a fun read, and the characters are (with a few exceptions) bangers. shit gets crazy
arc three... eh. its mid compared to arc two, let alone the first. Sutherland's writing slowly starts to lose quality and the plot is... uh. interesting. some of the characters are fun, but it's just! it could be better! but there is another standalone that's a fun read, which would be Dragonslayer - if memory serves, you don't need to read the arc to understand it, since its new characters + takes place in the past (but i'd rec reading that after at least the first arc). it's not Darkstalker levels of good, but i could compare its quality to the second arc
that was a whole Guide lmao oops. hope this helps! i really do think its worth it!
tl;dr: yea <3

I had a lil daydream about Bill driving and honestly just imagine how CHAOTIC it would be. Maybe Dipper gets injured so Bill has to be the Getaway Driver but it's his first time driving a car while physics is in play. Cue Dipper white-knuckling the handle, more afraid of dying in a crash than from the Big Fucking Wound in his side. Bill's so anxious that he just panic cranks up Chiquitita and sings along because Dipper Likes This, Right? This'll Calm Him Down
Dipper white-knuckling and screaming is pretty standard for any situation where Bill's driving, no injury required!
Bill is not allowed to drive very often.
