Do you think Skyloft had seasons? If it didn't that would be a huge change to get used to on the Surface.
It says in the Hyrule historia that Skyloft is “a paradise with springlike weather year round” so nope, doesn’t look like it.
I would believe it if maybe Skyloft has minor changes though, like maybe a season that’s like late spring, and one that’s more like early spring, so there’s some variation? But that’s just a guess.
Either way, it would totally be a big adjustment. I mean can you imagine living in springlike weather your whole life, then experiencing fall? Or winter? It would be wild. I can see it now, Link and Zelda are going nuts trying to figure out why the trees are all turning orange and why the air is getting colder and are convinced something is wrong and evil is afoot when a kikwi or something explains that’s just autumn?? So then they have to hear more about that and basically all the kikwi’s come and give them a crash-course in how seasons work.

Link in the Twilight Princess manga seems to have some variation of inferiority(/superiority?) complex going on and ngl I really dig it. The way he puffs up when he gets the Master Sword and it goes to his head and he knows he's good at what he does but also has massive feelings of inadequacy cause of his past with his hometown. Is it a form of imposter syndrome?
I also really love how the narrative knocks him down a peg. It be like that for people with that type of complex a lot. It literally bites him in the ass.
idk I think the way his character was handled in this manga is really well done. He feels like a person this way, which is more than I can ever expect from a relatively obscure LOZ manga adaptation.

for the zelda ask game: 🎭😔👊⛩️
🎭 When you play Zelda games, do you imagine being Link yourself, or is Link a separate character to you? Basically, are you Link, or is Link a separate character?
I always consider Link to be his own separate character. There's juuust enough to him most games that he has his own character, and I'm not usually one to go full self-insert with video game characters unless that's what the game is really going for. So I generally consider him to be his own separate character.
😔 Least Favorite Zelda character?
Hhhmmmmmmm normally I would say Jolene (and i think she was my answer for a similar ask game a few years ago) but I'm trying to get myself to at least somewhat appreciate her so it would be kind of counterproductive to say it's her. But it's Jolene.
👊 Favorite Zelda Villain/Boss?
Yeah no Bellum is my favorite Zelda villain... also my favorite boss! I think he's a silly little thing and a lot of fun to think wayyyy to hard about and I really like the variety between the three segments of his extended fight, plus just on a story level his whole fight is really cool. I would normally say I wish more was done with him but I can make do with crumbs so it's fine actually. I kind of want a little plushie of him.
⛩️ Favorite Zelda Dungeon/Location?
Hm... it's hard to decide on just one favorite dungeon, I've always been fond of albw's dungeons and both oot and mm have really good dungeons, but I think I'd have to pick the fire sanctuary from Skyward Sword. I really like sksw's dungeons a lot, and the fire sanctuary especially just... looks really nice and is fun to spend time figuring out. I think it's the one I enjoy the most, while the others are just fine or have some snag to them. With locations, I’m a fan of albw’s Hyrule and Lorule, and Clock Town is probably my favorite town in the entire series.
#asks#doomed-era#salty talks#loz#legend of zelda#very phantom hourglass brained but sksw also owns me in a sense. big fan of control schemes that everyone else hates#not gonna tag games or anything this took me long enoguh so maybe ill be quick in tags? likely not#genuinely struggled to think of any other loz characters i actively dislike beyond a little eh i dont like em#cuz either i just dont really care? or i generally like em jolene might be the only loz character i genuinely cannot stand#its that combo of annoying game mechanic and character traits/personality/whatever thats just like. man i dont enjoy this at all#anyways. i think the general control scheme of sksw and the fact that i tend to play standing up helps me enjoy the dungeons a lot more#also they just are really cool. i love albw's dungeons sm and oot + mm dungeons are incredible but ough sksw#ph is fine lol. as much as i love it the dungeons are eh theyre serviceable theyre fine#i think some loz characters i kinda dont like are like. botw/totk link (oversaturation and totk taints everything it touches for me) that#one creep by gerudo town in botw/totk mayyyybe tingle but thats nothing new uuhhhh. god i dont really have any i dont like#cuz like with botw/totk none of the characters get enough screentime for me to give much of a shit#and for the other games i generally like all of the characters? its the fuckin. ph tunnel vision i have the strongest feelings abt ph#i do like the temple of the ocean king. and a minor location i like is that one island with the fairy upgrade spring thing#its a neat little island. and link just has too much going on w/ his place in the story and whatever that hes his own thing for me#also like. as. a fic writer. i kind of have to view link as his own separate character anyways#skyward sword scratches an itch in my brain i love the gameplay sm. i also really love its visual style its a nice game to look at#oot and mm are just like. good??? i replayed oot recently and ofc its fucks but i need to replay mm so bad i dont think ive ever replayed i#im just extremely fond of albw since its the first loz game i actually finished and i just spent a lot of time with it while younger

Oh my blorbo is 100% a criminal.
For Property damage and trespassing. And mail fraud cause I know that's basically the cannon at this point.
But I can argue his case for some of these. (Please be advised that the closest I've got to law experience is that I played an ace attorney game a few years ago.)
I would argue that Sky isn't guilty for the holy relic things, theft of it, alteration and etc. Mainly because he was destined as said by one of the only people on the island to know of the relic in the first place, and i would argue that the was the headmaster says it is basically giving him permission. It would have been theft if the headmaster hadn't shown up then. (I would say that This also clears up the rest of the links, the boys are criminals but not for this)
In turn making the alteration not a crime either, infact i would use the term pilgrimage? He travels to the corners of the world with the holy relic to imbue it with the light from the flames.
The Sky Island thing, again would probably be argued as a structural weakness, but to be fair, he wished for a way to defeat demise (I think), not his fault that the triforce took that as lets just plug the hole with this conveniently placed temple.
And anyway...
If Skyloft has a form of law system and he was tried he'd probably get community service or be forced to pay for the damages, but I can't see the blorbo serving jail time. Mainly cause I can't see where they would even have a jail to put him into.
But also if you changed the fate of your people and saved the daughter of the main guy on sky Island, plus defeated an army of demons and the literal embodiment of evil you might get a pass on the property damage charges. Or even better, Sky would be pardoned but would probably pay it off anyway. He'd offer, rather than being forced cause he might be a crazy powerful blorbo, but he is also super good.
Half written scene I may or may not use, of Sky being a little shit:
:Wait Sky? You definitely don't like the kind that would get arrested, what's the charge?
Sky, smiling serenely: Well, just a little bit of property damage.
Warriors, who Knows: *choking violently on his drink*
Sky, ignoring Wars: The owner of a establishment is not happy of what I dropped on them so they called the guards.
Wars barely catching his breath, horrified Sky will just share that kind of information: Sky I really don't think--
Sky, talking over wars: Anyway as compensation I have to work part-time for Lumpy Pumpkin until I can pay off their chandelier. *Pats Wars' back absentmindedly* You need to be more careful with your drink, captain.
Warriors: *unbelievably stunned silence*
Warriors: Sometimes I forget how much of a little shit you are.
Context of the setting: While the lumpy pumpkin incident is true, sky also got arrested for dropping the entire sky keep onto the temple grounds below...
Bonus:
Sky: If I got a rupee each time I got arrested for dropping things, I'll have two. Not a lot but still funny it happened twice.
Warriors: *wheezing*

I had a thought.
I was replaying Botw the other day, and I was running around the map doing stuff. Especially regions like Lanayru, Eldin, Tabantha, and Gerudo. Anyways, I was reading all the signs and stuff. And I noticed they were all in different font, not even different font, but different languages! So this makes me think, can Wild speak and read multiple languages? Can multiple members of the Chain speak and read different languages? I’ve only played BotW, TotK, AoC, SkSw, and some of OoT, so I’m not entirely sure if there are different languages in the different regions there.
I’m aware Legend has been shoved into many headcannons about him knowing various languages, but can others? Would they be able to speak to each other in said languages? Are the languages different in each era? I dunno.

((I need to make u a new pfp soon caue akdksjs thats some old art))
I finished my rewatch of Skyward sword and I have many thoughts, so have some angst. Also this isn’t really related to LU sky but ya can twist it to fit him i think?
After the fight with demise, the curse hangs heavy over Link’s head.
Its a reminder, a threat, something Link wish he could forget and ignore but he cant. How could he forget the Demon’s haunting words as young boys cladded in green just as he, glare him down from the dark corners of his dreams. Faceless faces of youth so similar to his own, they haunt him- reminding him of every error and mistake. Reminding him how he should of just shoved the sword down that monsters throat— but no, he didn’t, and now he stands at the beginning of a trail of blood.
And he can only blame himself.
Link loves the colour green.
The boy loved his uniform, the vibrant- everything about it! he has come to love the colour since he was young. So you can imagine his glee when Zelda told him in secret the colour her father had picked for his year of graduating knights— it stirred something in his lazy bones, a spark of determination- not because he longed to be a knight but…well, he really wanted to wear that green tunic and cap. Link loved the colour green, it made up everything he loved! The cool grass he’d nap on, the sturdy stems of hardy pumpkins, the flowers Zelda would have woven in her hair— it was no secret how much the boy loved the colour green.
But now, dream after dream, the blood stained tunic that pooled at young boys knees- the tainted green now but a murky husk of its former glory was nothing more than a horrible memory.
So no one asked why the boy left Skyloft with uniform and matches in hand, no one asks why he and his crimson loftwing do not return until the last sliver of light dusts the sky, and no one asks why the boy’s eyes were redder than his bird. Everyone knew why, they may not know the horrors or the curse or the dreams, but they all know the look of hatred. So now, when the boy pushes aside offerings of green tunics, jewelry or gifts, they know why.
Link hates the colour green
Just like give me a moment cause like I am just

trying to take advantage of the creative energy bestowed upon me by my SkSw replay!
since Ikana is the "ancient version" of canon Termina, I wanted to make a Zora that hadn't fully evolved from the Parella. Especially since these in the Great Bay would be geographically separated from the Floria Parella, they'd be genetically distinct and could be "further along", so to speak. something something allopatric speciation. so I'm just calling them Zorella.
their legs aren't developed enough to get them onto land, so they don't interact much with the demons of Ikana except for the ones closest to their territory. those would be the Massu of Great Bay Island and Cragmaw Highlands.

I think Zelda games have always had this balance of storytelling and gameplay it always confused me when ppl said “Zelda is more about gameplay” which sure but I think it means that there is always a gimmick that makes the game. The story rlly is there to keep you engaged with not only the gameplay but also yknow the story. Some of Skyward Swords dungeons were a bit of a drag to me but I was already hooked on the story that I wanted to see what happened next. So I persisted to the very end of the game and had fun and engaged on a fun story. (Do i got issues w sksw lore yes but that’s a story for another day)
Here comes TotK, its fascinating how I was able to record my live reaction through posts on here. From Wind to Fire temple and the first three dragon tears i was engaged on what was happening. That was until I reached that one dragon tear where everything just fell apart for me. And I sighed i was like “no this game is fun and I’m going to continue on playing,” but then it slowly felt like a drag to me to continue. Things started to feel less fun to engage with. My friends insisted to get dragon tear memories from 6-8 so I dragged my feet to the locations they were at and boy. Did I completely lost all motivation to continue playing. At this point I was just sad that this is how it was going I immediately knew where the story was going. The gameplay could only do so much to keep me going when I could be replaying botw for the 5th time.
That’s why I believe that tloz games especially post-oot games have a balance with story and gameplay

I've seen your previous posts on Hylia and Skyward sword, so I was wondering if you go further into that? and what zelink you might prefer, botw/totk or skyward sword
i assume this is about this comic bc it's the only sksw analysis post of mine that still consistently gets notes lol. the text in that comic is actually taken from my loz analysis document's sksw zelda section! there's a bit more analysis there if you're interested, but tldr i think that sksw zelda is one of the more interesting and more tragic characters in the series. she begins her life on skyloft as a human girl and lives a relatively normal, conflict-free life up until sksw. she's the headmaster's daughter, she's got a good close friend in link, she's well-liked by her peers and community, etc. etc. the zelda we see at the beginning of sksw is a girl who is very sheltered. she's seen very little of the world and has virtually no experience with conflict outside of petty arguments between her peers. but she's also notably self-aware about this. she talks to link about wondering what's beyond skyloft, about this feeling she has that there's something important to her waiting on the surface. she knows that she's missing SOMETHING by living her sheltered life in skyloft, but, well... she's happy there. she's got the perfect life. she's all too willing to ignore that pull she feels towards the surface if it means preserving her life on skyloft with link. she's mostly content to live that happy lie forever.
obviously, she is not allowed to have that happy lie. she gets thrown down to the surface and she is told who she really is. the goddess hylia reborn in human form. she begins to remember pieces of a life that isn't hers, pieces of the person hylia once was. she learns about demise, about the goddess sword, all of it. and she realizes that everything in this world was set up, by hylia, by HER, so that link would be the one to fight demise in the end.
think about that. her childhood best friend, the boy she'd always felt drawn to, the boy she LOVED. now she knows that her whole life was a setup for this conflict. how does she know that their friendship wasn't a lie, too? how can she be sure that the part of her that is hylia, the same part that drew her towards the surface, wasn't ALSO drawing her towards link, making sure that when the time came he'd care for her enough to follow her? zelda spends so much time in sksw running away from link, and i'm almost certain this is why. once she knows she is hylia, she can no longer be certain that she really loves link or that link really loves her. it's equally, or perhaps even MORE likely that that part of her which was working to set everything in motion had been manipulating link her whole life, molding him into the hero that hylia knew she would need to defeat demise. she tries to get link to leave her alone, to go back to skyloft without her, because she understands that if he follows her for long enough he will be hylia's hero whether he wants it or not. she believes that he's only following her because HYLIA has convinced him to, that her only purpose as ZELDA in this story is to lead him like a lamb to slaughter. she believes the only way to save him is to convince him that he doesn't really love her.
but the thing is he DOES love her. it wasn't ever hylia's manipulation that convinced him to follow her to the surface. it was always his own choice. he wanted to save zelda more than anything in the world; ZELDA, not hylia. he was never fighting for the goddess. he was never hylia's hero. it was always for zelda. god maybe i should replay skyward sword

TLOZ translations always seem to be a bit shitty. I still see people talk about the weird translation of the Demise monologue at the end of SkSw. I think someone said that Demise was more general with his statement, as in there will always be forces from the demon tribe fighting against the light or smth? Not specifically "us three will always fight". (I've read it a few times, but hard to remember, sorry.) (On the topic of SkSw, I kinda dislike how much it impacted theories within TLOZ, some theories are really cool, don't get me wrong. But now, even games that existed for years before suddenly are being pushed to fit with the lore presented in that game. Ganondorf being the best example: He no longer is his own character who did bad things because of his own will and actions, it's now "He did it all because an evil curse made him do it. He had no choice, he was born as a vessel for the demonic lord." The implications that "the curse of Demise" also would mainly go for the already vilified race of the Gerudo, and make their one male an evil warlord is already kinda... yeah... no. (Not to mention that there are other demon lords throughout the franchise that have nothing to do with Ganon.)
Ohh speaking of this I recently saw this post that did a good translation of that very moment, and pretty much confirms what you are mentioning anon; that it's basically a promise of that cycle coming back moreso than Demise himself coming back (especially since his actual and definitive death is a big deal in that game).
But yeah, I agree it has taken a huge space in the way the series is thought about. I pretty much completely missed that hard turn, as I couldn't play Skyward Sword when it released and wasn't super into Zelda afterward anymore (I had gotten too edgy.... 2011 was the year where I got obsessed with every horror videogame in existence basically except for Resident Evil for some reason I could never get into that series ANYWAY WAY off topic........), so coming back a few years later had me very ???? puzzled about how the theories had reconstructed themselves around Hylia and Demise and endless cycles (it's not that it wasn't a thing before, but I wouldn't say it was as much a Series Trademark as it is now).
But yeah. Ganondorf having his own motivations makes him immediately stronger as an antagonist, especially since his deal is quite complicated all things considered.
I am having a thought about how a lot of Zelda villains' motivation is a sort of rebellion against nature. I have scratched enough digital paper about Ganondorf's situation, but like... Minish Cap Vaati is also very much motivated by his refusal to remain small and whimsical and seize power instead of staying in his lane (and then he gets horny in Four Sword so, maybe let's not go there), Zant is.... Zant, Hilda in A Link Between World has been cosmically punished for trying to reject the Goddesses and create a world on its own terms --like SERIOUSLY this is HORRIFYING I feel like we don't talk enough about how utterly nightmarish of a reality that paints for Hyrule as a whole-- Girahim is devoted but fights for the side more or less destined to lose... It's interesting how Hyrule is hostile to change and anything that threatens the statut quo.
(then you have the occasional Majora and Yuga, whomst I dooon't think really fit the above category --to their full credit! and then you have Bellum, who is..... a blob...... And I don't remember enough from either the Oracles game or about Malladus to put them in either category, I need to replay those games)
Hyrule really has this frightening quality to it when you stare at it for too long: that your two only options are to either graciously submit to your assigned cosmic role, or fight it and become darkness incarnate in some way. A Link Between World showed, quite starkly, that trying to escape that binary choice is *not an option*.
