RainWing Headcanons:

They have trouble reading dragons with scales that don’t change, and often ask blunt questions like “what are you feeling right now” at random intervals of conversation because of this.

RainWings often keep rainforest animals as pets, ranging from the canon sloths to geckos or macaws.

RainWings naturally mimic the scale colour of the dragons they’re with.

They have a lot of music and story festivals handed down generations by ear.

RainWing eggs have translucent shells.

In DarkStalker’s time, most RainWings were travelling assassins, and were feared across the continent for their camouflage and venom.

Many RainWings, such as Pineapple, as mentioned by Luna in the Flames of Hope, do not have a resting scale colour.

Bromeliad resigned because of Kinkajou.

Glory and Kinkajou are both Orchid and Mangrove’s dragonets. At some point they will learn this when Kinkajou forces Glory to do a venom test because they ‘feel like sisters’ to her.

Turtle and Moon 10000% call Kinkajou ‘Kim’. Because yes.

Shout out to Mangrove honestly. He was one of, if not the only dragon to care about the missing RainWings. He search everywhere and tried his heart out to get help, only to be rejected at every opportunity. Yet, he didn't quit until he finally saw his beloved again.

Ok this is like the last of the name puns I’ll do. It isn’t very punny anymore hehehe. I’m not sure how many people know orchid since they where a minor character in the dark secret but I always liked her name

BUT I do also love Typhoon, Malachite, Freedom, Orchid and Mangrove. And probably a bunch more background characters but they are some of my favorites :]

Orchid the Rainwing

The most healthy WoF ship is Orchid x Mangrove, and that ship is also probably in my top 3 ships in the entire series.

It's weird that not a lot of people talk about them, they deserve more love.

Orchid, my main Wings of Fire OC

I know, she has the same name that one of the actual characters of the book but it wasn't intentional ..... Since the RainWings have a list of names and they go back to the beginning every time they finish the list of names, it can explain this homonym ?

She's not angry like this all of the time, she's just in a good mood right now :P

So she's basically a traveler who likes to discover new civilizations and new tribes. Didn't really developed her backstory yet, maybe I'll do it one day :'3

Story: Orchid is a skilled assassin who works for the Skywing ex-prince Swift who is also her mate. Orchid doesn’t take very kindly to strangers and tends to treat them as threats rather than dragons.

She’s a sore loser and a winner. She’s overly flirty and uses her good looks to lure in her targets. She tends to get a little overprotective over the dragons she cares about and is willing to kill anyone who poses a threat.
