In addition to giving architectural shape to the key concepts that are adopted in the process deliberation tables, such as the adaptability and appropriability of the spaces, or the porosity towards the context, among others, the main decision of the project focuses on the possibilities which opens the (necessary) reform of the Dorleta building.

The project proposes as an initial premise to maintain its concrete structure, with a transversal span of 11 meters suitable for multipurpose learning spaces, adding a new 6-meter deep bay. This addition allows the surface of the old building to become a kind of adaptable classroom, and the new bay to absorb both the circulations and the more informal activities of the learning processes of its inhabitants.

This premise of addition is adapted and expanded on the ground floor to accommodate the new uses demanded by the pedagogical strategy of the university. Its main piece, KoLaborategia, adopts the same dimension of the cloister of the 'Nagusia' building to house the 'Laboratory of education and communication for the digital society', created recently. The intermediate space between KoLaborategia and the old Dorleta structure makes up the new hall, the main meeting place on campus. This space is called 'Hondartza', the Beach. The shared diagnostic process thus named the spaces that should be more indeterminate, left raw: spaces with a vocation to be appropriate for various uses, spaces adaptable over time.

In this meaning, the flexibility demanded by the new pedagogical proposals makes it necessary to test new types of classrooms. Depending on what you are working on, that either be for a game, an animated movie, a book, etc, the way you present your designs is very different for each of the mentioned.

 The work of Daniel Orive is a pretty good example. Since they are doing concept art for League of Legends which is a 3D game in theory (with a few illustrative elements) their character/concept sheets may verify a lot. 

 One one hand, we have the centre piece which is the actual character sheet with a front view, a back view and a close up of the character. These are usually the most detailed ones and are there to guide the viewers and the 3d makers. 

In this one I see that they also included the colour palette which I think is very important, especially if the character has many details/ looks complicated. 

 I also think that having a few 2D looking sketches is also a good idea since they are quicker to make and could be used to set the range of expressions and the personality that the character in question possesses. 

 Another interesting thing that I would have to try and do more of as well is having loads of thumbnail sketches. These are extremely helpful especially if you have a hard time deciding on your composition, design.  

 I would imagine that the target audience for a game like League of Legends would be of at least 14-15+, which means that the characters could have more details, be more mature looking than something you would show a 9 year old kid who wouldn’t pay as much attention to a design.

 This is a very uneducated guess but something I’ve noticed with the concept work for various Disney movies, is that they don’t usually have actual character sheets as much as just loads of concept sheets with their characters in various poses and with various expressions, I think that is because they need to focus more on the way they handle their expressions and anatomy rather than how the design will look. I think that might be because their designs are usually pretty simple and straight to the point, which work pretty good for them. 

Since I would say that my book would target bot younger and older kids I decided to take a look at how kids books handle their designs. I just searched ‘ character sheets for kid books’ and I had a quick look through the art I saw there.  

 Their designs are usually very simple and easy on the eyes which is ideal for a little kid who would have a hard time concentrating on a complex design. I also like the variety in character design and how inclusive these start to be.
