A/N: Happy (belated) Birthday Binnie babes~ This was supposed to be posted on his birthday...anyway hope you guys like this!🤗💞

Renewing their contract had been a much more emotional moment for the kids than they’d anticipated. So, Chan and Felix had called for a game night to both celebrate the occasion and cheer everyone up.
They’d ordered beer and fried chicken and pizza and burgers as well as some champagne for sweet little Lixie. The generous variety of food was spread on the dining table, courtesy of Binnie who had graciously splurged for the special day.
And just for the thrill of it, the kids who’d quickly gotten buzzed, challenged the strong dwaekki to an arm wrestling comprox— competition.
He’d beaten all the paper-thin humans easily but next he was faced with Minho, Jeongin, Chan and Han . The three monkeys who’d already lost, were messing around and giggling drunkenly.
Eventually, they got bored and moved to sit around their strongest hyung to watch the rest of the competition.
Binnie had his hands intertwined with Han’s, ready to battle it out, the quokka’s cocky claims only serving as motivation to win at all costs.
While Changbin was hyper focused on his seemingly inevitable win, a certain ferret was conspiring, his fingers slowly inching towards the oblivious dwaekki.
Hyunjin sneakily scribbled over Binnie’s elbow for fun, shrieking with amused laughter when the dwaekki flinched away with a growl, ripping his hand free from Han’s and tucking his elbow away safely in his tummy.
A light pink color seeped into Binnie’s round cheeks, a giddy embarrassment filling his body when he heard their leader snickering at his reaction.
He turned to glare at the ferret, who was now smiling innocently at him, as if he hadn't just interrupted the game. “What’s wrong hyungie? I was only trying to help you out~” He batted his eyelashes at the older, acting cute for him.
“You’re lucky you’re cute. Keep your hands to yourself, Hyunjin-ah!” Binnie let him off with a fond huff, the crinkled corners of his eyes giving away his affection for the younger. But the moment he clasped his hand with Han again, the three besides him began plotting.
One exchanged look had spoken a thousand urgent words and Han gripped Binnie’s hand tightly with a bright smile.
Hyunjin, Seungmin and Felix put their plan into motion. Lix attacked Changbin’s sides while Seungmin and Hyunjin alternated between wiggling their fingers at Binnie’s exposed underarms and ribs.
“You little—no—AHAHAHAHA!” Binnie’s protests were cut off with a high-pitched squeal, the skilled fingers roaming his torso, easily sending the sensitive bunny to hysterics. The dwaekki tried to free his hand from Han’s but the quokka held on tight, pecking it gleefully.
“Maybe we should record this to include in our next track. I bet STAYs would love that! What do you think hyungie?” Han teased meanly, watching the others wreak havoc on the ticklish rapper.
Chan and Minho cackled at their playful banter, thoroughly enjoying Binnie’s suffering. The room filled with overlapping laughter, Binnie’s boisterous cackles being the loudest sound, echoing off the walls like music, as his body trembled under the relentless tickling.
“Go for his tummy next! Hyung is super weak there!” Jeongin called, staying a safe distance away just in case.
Felix laughed, feeling a surge of pride as Binnie’s ears turned crimson at the maknae’s remark. Then, with a wicked grin, he zeroed in on his next target—Binnie’s vulnerable stomach.
“ACK—Lihihihix noHOHoho whyhy meHEHehe?!” Binnie’s rosy face broke out in a wide smile, dissolving into melodious giggles that warmed everyone’s hearts.
Han let go when Binnie fell back, hands slapping the carpet as he tried to keep them away. The events of their day had taken its toll and Changbin was mentally exhausted. So, he laid back on the carpeted floor, laughing his head off as they got him good.
Hyunjin was now pressing ticklish kisses to Binnie’s nape while Seungmin squeezed his arms, slowly making his way higher and higher until his hands were hooked under Binnie’s arms.
“FUCK! Hyuhuhunehehehe ahahahahahaha, ihihi cahahan’t oh gohohohods!” Binnie wailed, his body flailing desperately as they wrecked him.
The poor rapper’s laughter filled the room; a mix of breathless gasps and giggles that made the others chuckle along with him, their own smiles growing wider with every sound.
Binnie twisted and squirmed as their collective hands sent jolts of laughter through him, slowly driving him to insanity.
It was getting harder and harder to not try to protect his sensitive spots. The kids loved their Changbin hyung and knew how much of a recharge it was for his mind when he was tickled senseless like this.
And to top it all, Chan joined in. The leader had been suppressing a mood all day after he’d watched the members poking and tickling Binnie throughout schedules and this was the perfect opportunity.
With a loud battle cry if ‘Raspberries!’, Chan threw Binnie’s shirt up, his lips attaching to the younger’s belly before blowing. Hard.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHA no! Nohohohoho Channie hyuhung!!” He scream-laughed at the top of his lungs, making Seungmin and Hyunjin cringe at the deafening sound.
Everything felt so pronounced, the effects of each touch rippling across his skin and setting every nerve ending on fire. Binnie’s frantic laughter only seemed to fuel more tickling.
“Aww look at hyungie~ He’s so cute and smiley! You really love this don’t you Binnie hyung? Love it when we pin you down and get you so bad?” Hyunjin was pure, unfiltered evil. No lee was safe or ever spared from his relentless teases.
“Stop teheheheasing!! Hehehehehe!” Binnie was so precious and adorable the Hyunjin couldn’t help but coo at him.
Raspberry after raspberry followed without a hint of mercy in sight and Changbin was starting to feel lightheaded. His laughter had been reduced to desperate wheezes and the four paused when they noticed.
After a break and some water and a plethora of praises later, they resumed.
“Turn him over! Turn him over! He’s defenseless on his back!” Hyunjin yelled and Felix burst out laughing at the suggestion. Minho quickly flipped the dwaekki on his tummy, pulling his arms up through Binnie’s disoriented struggles.
“Nohoho not thihihis pleASE!” Changbin’s words were promptly ignored in favor of pinning him down. “naHAHAHAHA—"
All his muscles and gym workouts meant that Binnie didn’t have a lot of the flexibility that the skinnier members in their band had.
It had seemed like a disadvantage at first, until he had had the worst lee mood ever one day and the only person around happened to be around was Felix.
Felix loved tickling Binnie. And he was surprisingly observant. One of his little observations was that Binnie was pretty much helpless when he was lying on his tummy. When Lix realized this fact, it became a lot easier to tickle his lovely dwaekki.
And with how Changbin’s arms couldn’t reach back… Felix had had free rein over him, tickling Binnie until both their moods were satisfied and the dwaekki was in tears and Lixie’s fingers were tired. In retrospect, that was probably the best wrecking Binnie had ever gotten in his life.
And Felix had only shared this new secret of his with Hyunjin who teamed up to abuse the knowledge quite often. Not that Changbin was complaining.
“Isn’t it so funny just how ticklish you are hyung?” Seungmin taunted, wiggling his fingers all over Binnie’s ribs. The older squealed, breaking out into the most infectious laughter ever, causing everyone else to join in.
“oho myhyhy gahahAHADS I CAN’T! I CAHAHAHAN’T!! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!! KIM SEUNGMIN YOU ARE SO DEAD AHAHAFTER THIHIS!”
Seungmin smirked, pressing his fingers deeper between the crevices to remind Binnie of  his current position. The rapper was in no place to sass anyone right now.
“You’re laughing so hard. That must mean you agree with me, right? Tickle, tickle, tickle hyungie~” Cue more hands wiggling their fingers, squishing and pinching at Changbin’s sides and even the backs of his thighs.
“Seuhuhuhungminihie d-dohOHOHON’T!! Not therHEHERE! NOT THEHEHEHERE!! Plehehease!!” His words were stuttering badly so Bin changed tactics, yelping out random words he knew in English and hoping they’d spare him. And in a way…it did work.
In that it had everyone else almost dying from laughter at his incoherent words. Han and Chan were in stitches, laughter cutting off in seconds and far too weakened to even bother tickling the dwaekki anymore.
Chan aimed for his shoulder blades, having quickly realized during their earlier sessions that it was a particularly bad spot on the younger. And he was right. With a shriek Binnie’s struggles intensified tenfold but Minho held his tight.
Seungmin, getting bored, stuffed his hands in the dwaekki’s sensitive hollows, digging and wiggling and scratching in a way that had Changbin arching his back with screamed out pleas.
“Ihihit tihihHIHCKLES!! Fahahahahack! Sohohorry, ihihim sohohohorry ihihihi’ll do anyhyhything!! Plehehease!”
“Anything Changbin-ah? Then keep laughing like that for us baby~” Chan was insufferable and Binnie made a mental note to get him back a hundred times worse later. The leader will find out the consequences his actions can have.
Binnie’s sides ached from his laughter and tears of mirth slipped down his cheeks in little streams but he loved it—the attention, the praise.
“STA-STAHAHAP PLEASE IHIHI’LL DIHIHIE I’LL DIHHIHIHIHIHE AHH—” The torturous hands lifted off him when Binnie’s laughter finally cut out.
Little gasps and bursts of laughter escaped his lips even then, their smallest movement making him tense in anticipation. The exhausted bunny lay limp on the floor, catching his breath.
Once the high had worn off, however, Binnie found himself craving some sweet revenge. Felix was the closest to him, chatting away with Hyunjin.
He eyed the fairy with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Yup. He would do. The fairy squawked when Changbin pounced, dragging him to the floor.
“Nohohoho hyung please youknowican’ttakeit!!” He rushed out; hands poised defensively over his chest. “Aww you didn’t stop when I begged you for mercy did you? Time for revenge Yongbokkie~”
“nahAHAhaha ihIHIT’S NOHOT FAHAHAHAIR!!” Felix screamed with laughter when Binnie’s hands descended on his hypersensitive waist. Binnie got his revenge, taking his time on each of the perpetrators, their evening filled with laughter and joy.

Which pet I would identify the members of seventeen with
Tumblr media
Seungcheol
Utonagan : listen this dog is similar to a wolf. So he's a leader. It is one of the rarest breeds of dogs. Utonagans are friendly and intelligent and really sportive dogs as well. I associate Seungcheol with this breed of dog because for me, cheol is a really strong man, physically or mentally. Those dogs are really good for familial life and we know that Cheol is like the best leader father.
Jeonghan
Bunny : rabbits are known to be silly, timid, shy, curious, and high spirited and I think that this also describe Jeonghan pretty well. He is very soft, and have perfect visuals. He's shameless : he cheat, is very dramatic and mischievous and often vaguely evil (but as I said he is very soft and gentle). I think that he is rabbit coded because I love watching those funny videos where bunnies are doing crazy stuff, as mush as I love watching funny videos of him
Joshua
Siamese : hear me out. everyone loves siamese. Those cats are so gentle and kind and graceful? Our Josh Is so siamese coded idk, even with his bunny face he is still a siamese for me. Even though they're really gentle and calm cats they still are cats : which means they often do stupid things and makes everyone laugh.
Jun
Snake : hear me out 2. This guy is so mysterious yet fascinating?? He is sooo snake coded I don't know why. Snakes will move away when approached, and this is a really good animal to also show the introvert side of Jun. They also are shy and bold, and we know that Jun have a strong need of authenticity, self-expression. He express himself through his moves and solos. The way he dance is really fluid and smooth to see, maybe even hypnotic, like a snake moving
Hoshi
Hamster : do I have to say anything? My man is convinced he is a tiger but nah cutie you're an hamster. Such a cute and funny animal, like hoshi, a real cutie and funny tiger guy. Hamster are so cute when they're eating and look at our guy, such a cutie with his big cheeks full of food And even a few food stains on the face
Wonwoo
Black cat : this man is a real black cat. Always quiet and keeping things to himself he tend to have a really big mysterious side, that makes him so interesting and attractive. I think that this mysterious side that he have can be compared to black cats, thanks to their black coat, you can only see their eyes and you have to really be with a black cat to understand how much loving and sweet they are (and a bit silly too)
Woozi
Grey Persian cat : hear me out for this one!! Persian cat personalities are sweet, gentle, and patient. They're friendly cats that prefer calm environments but can easily adapt to more active households. Woozi fit so much that description. He is a really introvert man and have a need of getting alone time but he still managed to live with the 12 other members, knowing how much active and "loud" some of them could be
Dokyeom
Siberian Husky : Dokyeom is so husky coded! He's like a ball of sunshine that's always singing and enjoying life. He is such a great companion. Always bringing joy when the times are sad. He's also very sensitive and I feel like he always can feel when others feel a bit down. He is such a sweetheart
Mingyu
Golden retriever : do I need to explain myself again? This man is a silly goofy tall guy who's always doing crazy stuff. He is the best with everyone and can make everyone laugh with nothing
Mingaho
Ragdoll cat : he really have those sweet and calm vibes. they can tolerate reasonable levels of household noise. They're peaceful, sociable and inquisitive. A Ragdoll cat's personality means they're a delight to be around. Plus I think that this also describe hao and his personality. They're loveable as hell and he is too!
Seungkwan
Parrot : I don't really know why, I think that he really gives parrot vibes? Those that are always singing a bit too well for just being an animal and would probably have a singing career as a human. Parrots are social, talkative and optimistic and I think that is also a good way to describe our boo. Always looking at the bright side, Parrots see the best in everyone they meet and can find fun in literally any situation. + Boo have that really creative and fun energy and seems so fun to be around
Vernon
Ferret : Like all species, the ferret personality is unique to each individual. Ferrets are pretty amazing creatures and Vernon too. They're both effortlessly funny and will make you feel better, without even trying to. Even tho ferrets are pretty extrovert animals, vernon being the opposite I think he still match really well with those cute creatures.
Dino
Orange cat : you know? Those cuties that have a lot of energy. friendlier and more affectionate than other cats. He is such a good person to be around and is effortlessly fun. He's also really mature and orange cats are pretty good for handling emotions, and I think Chan is also the type of person to make sure that you are always feeling okay

3.78 Winterfest Lovin'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We left the restaurant and went back to Mama's house to collect our crew and solidify the wedding plans. As Sophia was the de facto project leader, she told Mama everything we discussed. In the end, Mama convinced us we should have a destination wedding in Tartosa. She described it as the wedding capital of the world. With so many wedding venues available, finding a last-minute location wouldn't be a challenge. Speaking of notice, it was all going down in three days! That was really close to NYE, and I hoped our friends could make it. But if not, at least my family would be there. How did Sophia feel about being the bride without a family to celebrate her? She didn't have any siblings and was adopted. And judging from the lack of stories about her life, I got the feeling she wasn't on good terms with her parents. Like, she literally never mentioned them. Ever. They could have died, but I had a strong suspicion they were very much alive. One day I'd get the courage to ask, but that is not this day.
She woke me up very early, grinning and giggling like a child wanting to open presents before dawn.
"Merry Winterfest, baby!"
I was very much asleep at the time.
"Wh-huh? What's going on?"
We were never those kids. We woke up at our normal time, ate breakfast, and did presents later in the day, so I was genuinely confused about her urgency. Sophia laughed at my ignorance.
"I have a gift just for us! We should open them now."
I wanted to decline and get back to my dream, but she was so excited. Though the room was dim, I could see the glee all over her face and got up reluctantly. She placed a gift bag in my lap and dug into her own. We pulled out...I didn't even know, but they were big, colorful, and fuzzy.
"Let's put them on!"
Being completely lost, I unraveled the fuzzy blanket thing and found out it was a onesie. My style was chill and comfortable, but not that comfortable. The giant baby look was not for me, but she spent her hard earned money on this thing. Even if I never wore it again, I had to at least try it on for her. I only had on underwear, so I slipped the thing on. The color was one I wore occasionally, so that was nice. I had no clue who I was supposed to be, but hers was a Freezer Bunny.
Tumblr media
"Who even am I?" I asked.
"I don't know. Some void critter."
She got me looking like an oversized toddler and didn't even know what character I was? Maybe she was more excited about us having matching outfits. It was very comfortable, though. I gave her that.
"Do you like it??"
"It's cozy."
"It's our first Winterfest, Luca!"
I could hardly believe it. It seemed like winter had only just begun a few days ago and now we were about to close out the year. Where did the time go?
"Merry Winterfest, Sophia," I said in a cheerier tone.
Tumblr media
She leaned over and gifted me those sweet lips, and the rest of me started waking up.
"I have another gift I'd like to unwrap," I said, pretending to reach for her zipper.
She slapped my hand.
"You open that and we're gonna be late. Father Winter will be handing out the good gifts by the time we get there!"
I failed to see the issue.
"I mean..."
"Luca! We have to be at your mother's house by noon!"
"Okay! Okay!"
Tumblr media
"I can't believe my dad agreed to come," I said.
"Why?"
"Dwayne is gonna be there. I know they're in a better place, but...that's really huge."
"Ohhhh. But your sister is home, right? He probably just wants to see her."
"Probably."
She was really cute in her fuzzy pink getup. That zipper teased me. Everything I wanted was inside, and I had to get her out of that suit.
"Can I just unwrap you a little bit? We can be quick!"
She gave me a hard side eye.
"When have we ever been quick?"
"There's a first time for everything," I said, waggling my eyebrows.
She rolled her eyes.
"You better be glad it's still early!"
"Awww yibbs! Merry Winterfest to us!"

FFTB | CH 2: Trial by Fire (Dabi/F!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Dabi doesn't think you've got what it takes to join the League. He approaches Shigaraki with a request: he wants to test your abilities and see what you're capable of. Contains: Swearing, Canon-Typical Violence, Power Fantasy Elements, A Series Of Very Unfortunate Events, Reader Is A Villain Who Does Villain Things
↞ Prev | Chapter Index | Ao3 Portal | Next ↠
Tumblr media
This was ridiculous. Shigaraki had to be out of his goddamn mind if he thought a girl like you could benefit the League in a meaningful way. You weren’t cut out for this – Dabi could see that in an instant. Back at the gambling hall, he had only caught glimpses of your abilities, but he was certain you wouldn’t be able to keep up. Recruiting you was like tossing a bunny rabbit in with a pack of ravenous wolves. They would eat you alive. He watched you make your introductions with the rest of the League, scrutinizing your every move. Pretty little thing. Soft features and curves – all smiles and sarcasm. No substance.
There was no way you’d last a week. Let alone long enough to repay your debt.
Thanks to Twice’s disastrous Overhaul introduction, the LOV was short one member and Mr. Compress was out for the count until he could get a new arm. Having fresh meat on board wouldn’t be too bad. That’s why they visited the casino in the first place: recruitment. However, the raid had thrown their plans into disarray. You showing up to mess with the cops definitely helped but, at the end of the day, you were nothing special. They needed frontline fighters. You were a disaster waiting to happen. Not exactly what they were looking for.
“Shigaraki –” Dabi called, motioning for the other man to move out of earshot of the others. As soon as he was certain no one was paying attention to them, he leaned in close and continued. “Let me test ‘em,” he grumbled – nodding his head in your direction.
“C’mon, Dabi…” their leader protested half-heartedly, rolling his crimson eyes at his companion’s overly cautious attitude. Tomura really wasn’t in the mood to argue right now. Not after all the shit they just went through. “What makes you think she’s not a good fit?”
“Look at her.” Dabi deadpanned. “She looks like a fucking pastry. Sweet and fragile. We gotta know what we’re dealing with here. Didn’t you have beef with some other villains? Let me take her to them – see what she can do.”
Shigaraki pressed a thoughtful finger to his lips as his eyes landed on you. Dabi had a point. You didn’t exactly look like the part of the evil villain. As far as he was aware, you could have been bluffing about your Quirk. They knew nothing about you – other than that you had hilariously humiliated those loser Heroes at the casino. Still, those guys were small fry compared to what the League was facing now. If Shigaraki wanted to get even with the Shie Hassaikai he would need strong allies. Whether or not you were one remained to be seen. Dabi was a harsh judge. Maybe this was the perfect opportunity to find out.
“Alright,” he agreed, giving Dabi an affirmative nod. “Take her downtown. There’s a group of thugs who leaked our info to Overhaul’s men.” Shigaraki pulled out his phone and quickly typed up the address. “Make them pay, rough ‘em up – and find out what she’s capable of.”
“You got it, boss –” Dabi checked the location. A warehouse. Remote – most likely abandoned. A grin tugged at the corner of his lips. He’d be able to test your mettle and the authorities would be none the wiser. This was perfect.
Time to give you a proper introduction and grill you a little. Just for fun.
Dabi strolled up and inserted himself between you and Toga. He slung an arm over your shoulder and pulled you close. The other girl protested but his icy glare was enough to send her slinking off to join the others quietly. In contrast, the grin Dabi was giving you struck you as dangerously venomous.
Just what was he up to?
“Hey, Lucky –” he started, “the name’s Dabi – you and me are going for a ride first thing tomorrow.” His finger shamelessly dipped into the hem of your neckline, giving it a small tug and allowing it to snap back. “I suggest you get some more tactical clothing cuz this get-up you’re sporting isn’t gonna cut it where we’re going.” Oh – the way you blushed when at his touch was delightful. What a peach.
Yeah – he was gonna enjoy breaking you in.
“I have a name. It’s (Y/n).” This Lucky-shit better not stick around – you hated being called that. Bastard. He seemed so very pleased with himself for making you uncomfortable – it was pissing you off. You shrugged his arm off your shoulder dismissively, glaring as he chuckled and raised his hands in mock surrender. There was no way this charmer was getting off the hook so easily: you hadn’t forgotten the shit he pulled earlier. For now, though, you decided to play nice. “Sending me on a mission that quickly – what’s this about?”
“Trial by fire, newbie. I’m gonna find out just how lucky you are.”
Tumblr media
Aside from asking about the mission details, you didn’t talk much – but Dabi did notice you glaring at him every now and then.
It was hard not to. Your face seemed to be permanently stuck in a seething expression. Sure, being forced to join the League wasn’t a walk in the park – but most villains would be thrilled to gain some notoriety. It came with the territory. Reputation could get you a long way in this world. Considering how many recruits Dabi had turned into burn marks on the pavement, you should consider yourself – well, lucky.
You walked by his side, keeping pace as you made your way toward the rendezvous point. Despite your reservations with the man, you had listened to his advice – leaving the cocktail dress at home for the day. You really, really didn’t need him getting a free show of your sexy bits if you happened to get into a fight. The memory of his finger on your collarbone kept replaying in your mind – which incidentally was why you kept glaring at him. Among other things.
“Your face is gonna get stuck like that, grumpy. Lighten up, will you?” he said, unable to suppress a grin at your pouty expression. “If we’re gonna start teaming up, ya might as well get used to lookin’ at me.”
“Not the biggest fan of my current company,” you admitted. “Can’t say I’m looking forward to working with the guy who left me for dead yesterday. Do you know how many cops were on my ass? I’m still picking glass from my hair.”
Dabi barked out a laugh. “You still sore about that, babe? So that’s why you were being such a sourpuss.” He could have guessed. His first impression hadn’t exactly been a favorable one. Still – that was hardly Dabi’s most pressing concern right now. “I told you: it was nothin’ personal. Crusty said to block the exit, so I did. You were just collateral.”
“It’s not fair. I tried to help you and you let me take the fall. I mean – yeah, you’re villains, but did you have to be dicks about it?”
He shrugged. “Life’s not fair, sweet thing – the sooner you get used to that, the sooner we’ll start getting along.”
You sighed. This was going to be a long fucking day, wasn’t it?
Tumblr media
You couldn’t have been more right.
The thugs you were sent to dispatch were pussies but the sheer number of them was overwhelming. Dabi was no help. Intentionally, you reckoned. This was your test after all. He spent most of the fight up high – away from the action as you barreled towards certain doom.
Your confidence was admirable. Stupid and reckless – but admirable nonetheless.
Improvised weapons were one of your favorite things to use in a fight. In this case, you’d gotten your hands on a rusty lead pipe. A crude-looking thing. Heavy and wide enough to do some serious damage to human skulls and kneecaps. Perfect for dispatching a pack of low-lifes, really. At first, Dabi thought you were nothing but a bumbling buffoon, stumbling from one disaster into another. He expected you to go down in the first five minutes of the fight but you were still standing. More than that, you were actually pretty good. Someone must have trained you.
After a while, Dabi started to notice a pattern. What seemed like utter chaos was actually far more contained. Every slip-up you made actually worked in your favor. It was almost comical how you skid across the ground – slipping between the legs of one of your attackers to emerge on the other side and crack the pipe against the back of his head. You could influence your luck but its effect was dependent on what you had to work with. Objects, people – anything you could touch was fair game. If he were to put you in an empty room, for instance, Dabi figured nothing would happen. You simply wouldn’t have anything to influence. The way he understood it, Luck was better suited for defense which is why you had invested time in combat training. There was potential in you – Dabi could see that now. Guess Shigaraki was right – maybe you could earn their respect just yet.
With the loud crack of bone and groaning cartilage, you brought the pipe down on a thug's knee. He howled in anguish, dropping to the ground like a cement brick. “Hey hotshot –!” you called out. Dabi perked up – snapping out of his thoughts. “Can you get down here already?”
“This gettin’ too much for you?” the villain questioned – descending from his metal scaffolding perch by sliding down the rafters. “You can say it’s too much, I won’t snitch to the boss – pinkie promise.” He jumped the last gap and wasted no time catching up, ducking past oncoming attacks to reach your side with one quick sprint.
“It’s not that.” You rolled your eyes, taking a moment to wipe the blood from the pipe on your jeans. “I’ve never taken on this many guys at once –”
“Yeah – I bet,” Dabi smirked, positioning himself to cover you as the thugs regrouped for a counterattack. “You look like a real good girl with that pipe in your hands.”
You shouldn’t have laughed – but you did. “Shut. up. Fuck me – you’re unbearable.” For the first time today, you didn’t sound all that pissed off. Rather, amused. Almost like you were actually having a good time despite the circumstances. Dabi took note of that, eyeing the smile you were so desperately trying to hide from him.
So you did have a sense of humor after all.
He felt you press your back against his to make sure no one could take advantage of your flank – surveying the remaining pawns on the field. The rest of the fight was an outright slaughter. Your opponents didn’t stand a chance once the two of you were actually working together. The matter was settled within minutes – blue flames sweeping up whatever bloody bits you and your trusty pipe had left behind. When the dust had settled, you and Dabi were the only ones left standing. Breathless but unscathed.
“Not bad, newbie –” Dabi admitted, reaching up to ruffle the top of your head. “Guess I was wrong about you. You’ve got spunk. One more thing –”
“What – is there a written exam too?”
“No –” Dabi laughed, shaking his head. “Just a question, that’s all.” You know – maybe this guy wasn’t so bad after all. He was kind of tolerable when you were actually on the same team. “Don’t get me wrong – you kicked ass just now but – how’d a pretty little thing like you end up like this?”
“Like what?”
“A villain.”
You became quiet then. There was something there. Behind your eyes. A sadness. Anger – a festering resentment. Dabi could see it all. He knew those feelings intimately. Still – you shrugged and tossed the lead pipe into the grass – pretending the question didn’t bother you. You were a good actress but Dabi saw right through you.
“Life’s not fair,” you quoted him. “I got used to it.” He wasn’t satisfied with your less-than-masterful deflection, you could see that clear as day. Regardless, Dabi didn’t seem interested in pressing you for an answer. For that, you were grateful. That was a can of worms you weren’t willing to pop open with a stranger just yet. Maybe one day you’d be able to talk about what happened – for now, you settled for quietly boiling yourself alive with these feelings.
Dabi, for his part, only concluded one thing from your conversation: you had motivation. Something every member of the League needed. That was enough for now.

A/N: Heheheheh Dabi you black cat of a bastard. We're gonna get some actual bonding in the next chapter but the crumbs have been strewn 👀The next chapter does need HEAVY editing, so that one will take a while to come out

Judging the Danganronpa x Sanrio character pairings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may have already heard that a DANGANRONPA X SANRIO line of crossover merch was announced a few days ago! Which is obviously AMAZING, because they’re combining cutesy characters that have often been marketed to wee children with everybody’s favorite murderdeathkill game! I LOVE IT.
I have a niece who went through a Sanrio/Hello Kitty phase, so I actually know a few of these characters. In turn, this means that I have THOUGHTS on how the DR1 and Sanrio cast were paired up.
Granted, I still had to look up a lot of these guys and read about them. But now I feel adequately educated to the point where I can judge just how well the Danganronpa and Sanrio pairings actually match up.
Makoto Naegi/Cinnamoroll - Obviously this totally works because Makoto IS something of a cinnamon roll, eh? EH? But Cinnamoroll is said to be shy albeit still very friendly. He also likes to seek out fun new adventures. So, aside from “very friendly,” I’m not sure that this sounds like Makoto. I also doubt that calling a character a “cinnamon roll” is common slang in Japan. So this is whatever.
Sayaka Maizono/Wish Me Mell - Mell has the power to connect people’s hearts by simply stating the feelings they keep inside. She was initially withdrawn and believed she didn’t have any friends, but the people who cared for her finally broke through her shell and convinced her that she DOES have friends. So uh, Maizono... I guess music can also bring out people’s feelings? And perhaps you could plausibly HC that Sayaka has often felt like her surrounding friends were “fake” and only there because of her celebrity status. There’s not really much to go on here.
Leon Kuwata/Tiran - Tiran is an orange T-rex that is said to be scatterbrained but still a strong and reliable leader. Meanwhile, Leon has orange hair, and he’s certainly strong and kind of scatterbrained sometimes. It sorta works.
Kyoko Kirigiri/Marroncream - Marroncream is bright, positive, and fashionable. She is talented at making crafts and sweets. She lives in Paris. She has nearly nothing in common with Kyoko, although Kyoko did live abroad a lot in her younger years. So I could try to latch onto the Paris thing.
Hifumi Yamada/Pokopon - Pokopon is a raccoon that loves to read but dislikes ghosts and “the thunder god.” (uh... what?) He also finishes his sentences with the unusual suffix “-das.” Of course, Hifumi loves to write (which certainly is connected to reading), and he likes to end all names with a weird suffix (”-dono”), so I can see how they might make a cute pair.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru/Pekkle - Pekkle is a duck who is good-natured and kind. He loves to sing and dance. It kind of sounds like he should’ve been matched with Sayaka, but instead he’s here with Taka. While Ishimaru is definitely a good person, I don’t think most people would immediately describe him as “kind.” And he certainly isn’t known for his love of music.
Yasuhiro Hagakure/Monkichi - Monkichi is a laid-back, easygoing guy who is upbeat and loves puns. His dream is to become a poet. It’s said that once he sets his mind on something, there is no stopping him! And in comparison, Hagakure is... well, he’s kind of laid-back in the sense that he’s kind of lazy? But he’s actually pretty high-stress a lot of the time, too. Honestly, there’s not much linking the two.
Chihiro Fujisaki/Kurousa and Shirousa - Shirousa is the white one and is the older sibling to Kurousa, the brown one. Shirousa is described as an energetic leader and Kurousa is described as being nice but lazy. They like to make cakes. What does any of this have to do with Chihiro? Beats me. This particular pairing is nonsense.
Byakuya Togami/Badtz-Maru - Badtz-Maru is said to have a bad attitude and dreams of being “the boss of everything” when he grows up. He tends to act a bit selfish, and he mocks things he dislikes/disagrees with. He enjoys expensive food and collecting photos of movie villains. With the exception of that last point, I’d have to say that this sounds like a near-perfect match for Togami.
Mondo Owada/Goropikadon - The Goropikadon are a group of cave boys whose actual names are Goro (blue hair), Pika (pink hair), and Don (teal hair). Goro is always hungry and joking around. PIka is a thoughtful, shy mama’s boy. Don is serious and places a high value on honesty. Overall, I suppose that how quick Mondo is to get angry and resort to violence kind of makes him seem like a stereotypical caveman? But in terms of their distinct personalities, only Don’s focus on honesty rings true for Mondo.
Toko Fukawa/Lloromannic - Another multi-character one. The Llormannic are a pair of creatures named Berry (the black one, who is male) and Cherry (the pink one, who is female). They are mischievous and love to play pranks on humans. Cherry was originally alone and created Berry for companionship; however, she mixed up her magic spell ingredients and used salt when she meant to use sugar, which resulted in Berry turning out to be a more hostile being than Cherry. I suppose the fact that Berry is a darker creation of Cherry’s sort of reflects the relationship between Toko and her other self, Genocide(r) Syo/Jack. However, Berry and Cherry are still best friends. Toko and Syo/Jack are definitely not that.
Celestia Ludenberg/Kuromi - Kuromi is the rival of a bunny named “My Melody” who doesn’t appear in this promotion. Kuromi is said to look “tough and punk” in her jester’s hat with the pink skull on it, but in reality she is very girly. She enjoys writing in her diary, reading romance books, cooking, and checking out good-looking guys. I suppose Celestia did have that dream of living in a mansion where she was served by handsome guys dressed as vampires? So... they both like hot guys? But that’s all I’ve got here. Pretty sure this pairing only exists for aesthetic reasons. And admittedly, their aesthetics mesh very well.
Aoi Asahina/Keroppi - Keroppi lives with his family on the edge of Donut Pond. He is bubbly, a fantastic swimmer and, because of the name of his home pond, is often associated with donuts and/or things that are donut-shaped. Ok, so this was an obvious pairing, then. They nailed it. Probably the single best pairing they came up with.
Sakura Ogami/My Sweet Piano - Yes, the character’s name is literally “My Sweet Piano.” She’s described as soft, kind, and girly. Given Sakura’s secret love of girly things, I can see how this soft, pink, girly sheep would be something she’d love to be around.
Junko Enoshima (...?)/Hello Kitty - Hello Kitty (a.k.a. Kitty White) is described by Sanrio as “cute, bright, sweet, kind-hearted and tomboyish.” They also say that Kitty is very close with her sister, Mimmy. As for Junko... look, the only reason I think maybe this is supposed to be Junko is because Mukuro already has her own Sanrio matchup (see the next entry), but in terms of her appearance, this “Junko” sure looks like it’s “Junkuro.” The telltale sign is that giant bow on the left side of the head, which only Mukuro-as-Junko has ever worn. I doubt we’re supposed to be thinking that they did two Mukuros in two different outfits, though?
It’s like this: If it’s Junko, well, I guess both Junko and Kitty are icons within their respective brands. And Junko tries to put on a “cute and bright” exterior persona, I guess? But that’s pretty thin. On the other hand, if this is Mukuro in disguise, this is actually a semi-decent matchup! Mukuro is arguably tomboyish and certainly very close to her sister (at least from her own perspective), so these two are not without their parallels.
In either case, both Kitty and the Unknown Despair Sister have a big bow on the left side of their head. Which I think is the real reason they’ve been paired, honestly.
Mukuro Ikusaba/Little Twin Stars - Kiki and Lala are a pair of twins that were born on December 24th. Mukuro is one half of a pair of twins ALSO born on December 24th. Instant connection! Kiki (the blue-haired boy) loves fishing and inventing things. He is curious and cheeky. Lala (the pink-haired girl) loves drawing, writing poems, and cooking. She is rather timid. In short, the “twins with the same birthdate” thing is the only thing connecting Mukuro to these two. Still, it’s not bad.
Tumblr media
Also, the most amazing thing to come out of this team-up so far HAS TO BE MonoKitty. Hello Kitty cosplaying as our favorite psychotic MurderBear? How great is that? SELL ME MERCH OF MONOKITTY.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
MILES PROWER, ANTI-TAILS
Tumblr media
Moebius' true king.
Art by Arealscrog
Archie's wasted character
Who is Miles?
Miles Prower is the Anti equivalent of Tails, from Mobius Prime. He is afew years older, being 11 instead of 8 and much more mature. He still appears to possess Tails' youthful tenacity and desire for independence, but he has a violent rebellious attitude and shows no interest in holding himself to childish things, even though he's only 11 years old himself, hating the nickname "Tails" being an example.
Miles holds his younger counterpart in utter contempt for traits Miles sees as weaknesses, especially how Tails went down the path of Science and technology instead of his magical Chaos force heritage, implying that Miles went down a more mystical path instead of Science, but from what we see in the comic Miles is more in the political field, by that I mean he manipulates all the political aspects of Moebius.
His actions throughout the comic run make him out to be smart, picky, but also cold, calculating and always 5 steps ahead of his own team and Adversaries, this leading to Alicia making him the Suppression Squads leader behind the scenes, while she is the figurehead "ruler."
---------------------------------------------
That's Anti-Tails, Who throughout this I'll be reffering to as "Miles." Now you may be thinking, "Why make a post on an extremely obscure and hardly used Archie character? Why not someone Like Tails, Shadow or a more popular Archie character?"
Well, it's because I believe that Miles had the potential to be one of Archie's most intresting original characters, I believe he could've easily held his own "Suppression Squad" comic run, but Archie Unfortunately really underused him and wasted his potential, but hey...
That's where us fans come in!
---------------------------------------------
This post is All about Miles Canonical self, every canon fact I can find about him and his full story in his short run during Pre-Reboot Archie Sonic, and my own personal headcanons in the later post.
But...before I get into any the headcanons, I need to teach those who don't know him about him, I need to talk about his Canonical self..so, let's get into it. Headcanons will be in the follow up post.
Canonical Apprearnces.
(Reworded from the wiki)
First appearance
Tumblr media
The first appearance of Anti-Tails was back when the character was just "Evil Tails" and it was of him joining the Anti Freedom fighters in an attempt to take over Mobius Prime, prior to the downfall of Eggman.
He and his evil allies pretended to be the good Mobius Prime versions, and struck knothole with acts of mayhem, vandalism and overall mischief, a common thing on moebius. The real Freedom Fighters soon returned to set things straight, but their initial attempts to defeat the Anti-Freedom Fighters failed as their Anti-Mobius selves knew their moves as well as they did. Sally Acorn came upon the solution: switching combat partners. When he faced Rotor, Evil Tails proved unable to overcome the larger and stronger Mobian. Defeated along with the other Anti-Freedom Fighters, he was sent back to Anti-Mobius, where they continued to cause mayhem despite the efforts of the kindly Dr. Ivo Kintobor (Anti-Robotnik) to stop them.
This was the last we saw Evil Tails for awhile, however we did see a cameo of him along with every other tails when they all came together and formed Titan Tails.
The Suppression Squad
Tumblr media
Art by Pota on Pixiv
Some time passed before his next appearance, and in that time "Anti-Mobius" went through changes in its name, now "Moebius." And all the characters changed alongside it.
Miles had assisted Boomer in stealing Dr Kintober's goal posts in order to allow the Suppression Squad to have access to inter-dimensional travel. Scourge obviously took this opportunity and went straight to Mobius Prime, along with a few other members of the SS, Miles being one of them, and they attempted an assult on the Freedom HQ, where we see Miles' and Tails face off, with Miles declaring to not be referrd to as Tails or Anti-Tails, but instead just "Miles".
He also indicated his disgust at Tails for having chosen a path of Science and study, despite having a strong connection to "Chaos force", aka magic. This has led to people believing Miles himself is a magic user.
Tumblr media
When Metal Sonic attacked Scourge, believing him to be the real Sonic, Miles stayed back and observed instead of helping his king. Now, you may think that's betrayal, but in reality Miles didn't help because he did not wish to undermine Scourges strength, so instead he observed. Soon after Sonic came onto the scene he showed his willingness to help anyone, even his enimies, and this gave Miles an idea:
Let's team up with the freedom fighters to betray Scourge, that's the new plan.
Miles later met up with Sally, Bunnie, Antonie and Tails to offer an alliance, but didn't let Tails speak and showed his contempt to the original version, telling him, "Please don't talk, little boy, We're trying to have an intelligent conversation." Sally accepted the offer, knowing she needed all the help she could get for taking down Scourge.
Tumblr media
Upon returning to Scourge, pretending to be running from the freedom fighters, Scourge asked for a summary on his mission, that being "bomb New Metropolis" but Miles ignored him however, instead reporting to Alicia (Anti-Sally) that his mission was a success. Immediately thereafter, Alicia told the Suppression Squad to, "Show our King just what we think of him", with Boomer and Patch clearly readying for battle
Tumblr media
However, Miles was doubling up his betrayal, blasting both Sonic and Scourge back into Moebius for them to Duke it out there, with Boomer sealing the portal behind them. An ethical debate followed this, between Sally, Alicia and Miles, the trio being ordered to get the goal posts ready to be able to return the freedom fighters to Mobius after both groups agreed to make sure Scourge was defeated on Moebius by Sonic
Miles was as shocked as the rest of the group to find Scourge had defeated all of his opponents as Super Scourge. When the rest of the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Suppression Squad were quickly defeated, Scourge turned his sights on Miles, identifying him as the mastermind behind the betrayal.
Tumblr media
Miles, cowering in fear, denied his role in betraying Scourge, who was threatening to beat him for his betrayal. However, Miles was saved by Silver the Hedgehog and unlike the rest of his allies, wasn't even hurt. Following Scourge's defeat and Miles' attempt to recruit Buns Rabbot into the Suppression Squad, Miles spoke to Alicia about who would be their new leader. Alicia explained that while she may be the figurehead ruler, they both knew Miles held the real authority at this point, to which Miles grinned.
Tumblr media
That was the last we see of Miles in the Archie comics, he unfortunately isn't in the post reboot because he's now owned by Ken Penders, so we'll never see him again. Below is all of his official designs, and after that is my final thoughts on the character.
---------------------------------------------
My overview of Miles as a character.
Tumblr media
I'm no Character analysist so I'll make this short and sweet, my review of Miles is that he's a Character with alot of potential, but he went wasted, not on purpose, but thanks to the lawsuit.
I believe that if that lawsuit never happened, and that arc was closed up nicely Anti-Tails would of became a far more realistic and grounded Character, and probably pretty popular too. Miles to me is a kid who was manipulated into a life of crime and now believes that's what is right, and I think that could of been an arc for him, mellowing out and becoming a true king for the people of Moebius. I also like how when Scourge goes Super and goes to Miles to confront him, he dosent stand up to him, he dosent become strong, but instead he cowers in fear, hes terrified and tries to lie, to me, that makes him feel more grounded, and I like that.
Personally I wish Miles was more popular, I wish he got more spotlight than he did and I wish his story got concluded, but with what we got, I think he's pretty good, and pretty interesting too! I've seen alot of ideas float around for this dude, all of them making sense in they're on way, and to be honest? His lack of story kinda helps make him more accessible.
Tl:Dr: I like Miles alot, and I hope this post helps you lot learn more about him and overall, gets more people down to write with him, draw with him and explore him!
---------------------------------------------
Would I change him in any way?
Yeah, there's one key part of Miles (from what we got) that I think was wasted. Now, what is that? What would I change about a Character I've mostly praised? Well...
Tumblr media
I wish he was magical. In the Archie comics Tails is actually strongly connected to the "Chaos Force", not as connected as Shadow, but still VERY connected, and guess what? Miles and Tails ARE biologically the same, same DNA, and in that bit of the comic, Miles calls Tails out on something he should have no idea about if he himself isn't connected to the same thing (or Moebius equivalent). To me at least this kind of implies Miles is magical too.
Basically, I'd give Miles' moveset a touch of magical abilities, connecting him to Moebius' "Anarchy force". I think it would help separate him abit more from Tails, while also connecting them, because whenever you have science and magic together...they clash.
But yea that's all I'd change in what we got, just hints of magic, some magic attacks here and there. I think it'd be pretty neat, and it'd have the science Vs magic aspect with him and Tails relationship.
---------------------------------------------
Lets finally wrap this up! At least, for now.
Thank you so much for reading all this If you did, it, this took me alot of hours, and I, I think it's over 2000 words now you madman. Why not spend your time doing something more worthwhile? Why not...have fun? meet someone? Go on a date? Live your life? Why read a post on an obscure Character, mainac.
But in all seriousness thank you for reading my post, I really like this character (clearly) and I want to teach people about him, and I hope this post has done that! Post 2. There's going to be a sequel post going over all of my personal headcanons, and possibly a 3rd going over community ones. Keep ya eyes out~
But yea, big read, now you lot know about an obscure Character, and this was fun to write! But now I'm gonna end this post with a fun fact:
Miles and the Suppression Squad were going to have one more arc, it was teased at the end of issue 196, but unfortunately it never got written. That would of been really neat but unfortunately it never got to happen.

And A-Fu Makes 4--Ch. 3
[Happy belated birthday, Jingyi! 🥳]
[Ao3 Link]
Things got a little better in school. Not too much. What they were learning was so boring that paying attention didn’t really make it better even when he did use his new rocks so his ears woke up. His ears just didn’t like what they were hearing. When Yellow-Father visited the Cloud Recesses and gathered him up and asked him all smiley what his favorite thing from class today was, A-Fu scowled. “When I leaved. ”
Yellow-Father’s eyebrows went crinkly. “An education like this is a great privilege, Fufu. You’re very lucky.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t feel lucky. Not never.”
His father’s crinkles turned into a little frown and he said, all serious, “There are a great many people who never get to go to school, let alone have the life you’re going to have.”
“Then they’re the lucky ones.”
After that, Yellow-Father closed his eyes and took a deep breath before smiling and asking if he found any good bugs lately--which was such good timing because A-Fu had ! He got to show Yellow-Father the little house he had made for them in the back garden with mud and sticks and a couple rocks--unfortunately, only a couple had actually stayed inside. And maybe that was because they were too busy sleeping on their backs with their legs all curled up but that was okay, because he held them up all proud and Yellow-Father agreed that yes, they were a very nice find and now he could go and wash his hands.
What actually really started to make school lucky was that they began going outside to train and use their practice swords more. A-Yuan may have been good at everything else and just a little bigger than him, but A-Fu was starting to feel great when he got to swing his sword around all strong and fast like his fathers. Up until now, no one at Cloud Recesses had let him whack anything, practically--it was all ‘hold it like this’ and ‘bow like this’ and ‘etiquette etiquette etiquette’. Blah blah blegh. Just another thing to forget. But A-Fu was finding out that his body was pretty good at remembering things, even if his brain wasn’t, and one time, even the teacher passed by and nodded, saying, “Just like that, Lan Fu,” and the sun came up in his chest all sparkly and happy.
He grinned over at A-Yuan, who was concentrating really hard on swinging straight down and didn’t see him, but it was totally okay, because the teacher had told him that he was good! He was doing so good!
After class, he ran all the way home through the sun coming down through the trees to the Hanshi and told the whole entire thing to Blue-Father about 5 times as they walked to the secret bunny patch in the woods. He even stopped on the path to stand with his practice sword to show him his stance and everything. “I’m so proud of you,” Blue-Father had said with a wide, warm smile, waiting for him to catch back up. “You’ve been working very hard.”
“I have! Watch, watch--I can do it so fast! So much faster than A-Yuan! I’m gonna kill all the bad guys!”
Blue-Father shook his head, still smiling, turning to walk beside him with Shuoyue held behind his back. “We should use our swords to protect people.”
Right away, A-Fu copied him, holding his practice sword behind him with his shoulders all straight and his chest puffed out. Their footsteps crunched on the white rocks, every once in a while matching up on a step. A-Fu tried to make them match more, but Blue-Father’s legs were too long. “Yeah, from bad guys that I’m gonna kill! When is the next war?” he asked, looking up at his blue father, all calm and tall against the trees. “Are we gonna win it?”
“Wars are not scheduled, silly boy. Nor should we wish for them.” He held out his hand--A-Fu switched his sword hand and took it as they kept walking. “Your die’s have fought very hard to give you a world free of war.”
What? That was the worst news! “No more wars ? How is people supposed to be heroes, then? That’s not fair, all you got to be heroes! Die, you shouldn’t have ruined it for the rest of us.”
Blue-Father gave a small hum of laughter through his nose before looking down at him with a smaller smile, shaking his head again. “In truth, wars aren’t about glory or heroes. A good leader sees them as a last resort, not something to seek out. The ones who suffer the most are the people who cannot protect themselves and those left behind--and so we dedicate ourselves to the service of those who need us. That should be your goal if you want to be a hero, not the killing. It's what your Uncle Wangji does, when he can. He is known for being where the chaos is.” He looked out into the deep green of the forest shadows. “There is nothing wrong with a peaceful life.”
A-Fu rolled his eyes and leaned way over, hanging from Blue-Father’s hand. “Boooring. I wanna fight--kshh kshh ksshhew!” he added really loud as he reached out to beat up a rock right next to the path, whacking it so loud ‘tok’s echoed around them, scaring a squirrel up a branch.
Blue-Father’s hand squeezed and tugged him back carefully. “A-Fu, don’t treat your sword that way, use it with respect.”
Sulkily, A-Fu stuck it behind his back again.
“And you will have plenty of opportunities to fight, in the life we lead. What’s more important is to have empathy and kindness. Ah, Wangji.” He nodded to him as they finally stepped into the little meadow, bunnies hopping up eagerly to see if they had treats in their pockets. “A-Yuan!” He added with delight as A-Yuan raced up and grabbed onto his thigh with a big grin.
Excited, A-Fu pulled his hand away and wrapped around his other leg, linking his feet behind his heel. “Walk! Walk!” he hollered and so Blue-Father did, walking with careful straight leg steps all around the bunny patch while they both giggled into each others faces when they swung by and the little white puffballs of rabbits scattered in front of them.
A-Fu loved playing near the rabbit hutches with his family--it smelled like sweet hay the rabbits ate and the clean water smell of the stream nearby which made cheerful noises. Some sun came through the thick leaves, but not a ton, so it was green and shady, even on sticky hot days. The grass was thick and fun to jump around and dance and wrestle on.
After 3 times around the whole meadow, Blue-Father shooed them off so he could sit, and A-Fu shyly went with A-Yuan over to go say hi to Uncle Wangji where he sat watching them with a guqin on his knees and a bunny nestled in the corner of his thigh. A-Fu showed him that he still had his rocks from school, tucked in his inner pockets, snug and warm. Uncle Wangji nodded with a little smile and A-Fu felt all shiny and bubbly and thought that this was maybe one of the best days ever. He sat right next to him, leaning on his leg, and told him what songs he wanted them to play when Blue-Father took out his xiao. The grownups played lots of music while they were there; dancey ones and pretty ones and boring ones they played all slow and sad. It was nice because the music was kept close by all the huge trees, like a private recital. A-Fu danced with A-Yuan to the fast ones, pretended to be underwater for the slow ones, then chased the bunnies around when there were too many of those--until A-Yuan made him stop.
Eventually, though, fathers started talking in between the songs, and that got long enough that the instruments just stayed in their laps and A-Fu got bored. Then, he had the greatest idea. He grabbed A-Yuan’s hand and pulled him up so his special speckley rabbit hopped out of his lap. (A-Fu had named it Poop-Eater and A-Yuan had named it Turnip and they both would not use each other’s name--A-Fu because he thought it was lame and A-Yuan because he thought it was gross--even though it was true , because he did eat poop, A-Fu had seen it.) Dragging A-Yuan over to where the grass was long and soft and pretty un-nibbled, he said, “Let’s do a dueling!”
A-Yuan held out his arms wide, showing him in his sleeves. “But I don’t have my practice sword.”
“Hmph. Well, okay, I have mine...so the duel is who can swing the sword the best. You go first.”
A-Yuan scrunched his face up and looked back at where Blue-Father and Uncle Wangji were chatting quietly about something, both petting the sleeping bunnies in their laps. “Do I gotta? I’m playing in bunnies and I'm tired.”
“Yes, we gotta, for really real! We can play in bunnies after!”
After one more longing look at the rabbits, A-Yuan sighed. “Okay.”
They practiced, back and forth and back and forth, and since A-Fu was so good in class, he was able to tell his cousin that his hands weren’t holding it right. Then, that his feet weren’t right, and then that he wasn’t swinging it fast enough or straight enough. It felt great to be the one in charge, the one who knew all the right answers, for once. Eventually, he rolled his eyes and asked, all smug, “Did you even pay attention in class? It’s not that hard. Are you trying at all?”
Right away, he knew he messed up.
A-Yuan’s face got all wobbly and red and his eyes went shiny. He dropped the sword and ran to Uncle Wangji sobbing, saying that A-Fu was being mean to him. A-Fu’s tummy dropped into his feet like when he had jumped off the too high wall. He ran to go hide behind his father--but, of course, he didn’t let him. Blue-Father found his hand and tugged him to his feet and made him stand up straight and tell them what happened. Uncle Wangji sat on the grass and held A-Yuan under his chin and listened to A-Fu explain with a quiet face that didn’t show what he was thinking at all. “I wasn’t making fun of him! We were playing!” There was a long silence, and A-Fu squeezed his eyes shut and covered his ears. “I’m not lying!”
Blue-Father’s even voice said, “Then tell us, A-Fu.”
Desperately, A-Fu looked up at him where he stood, still covering his ears. He was looking down at him with a serious face, eyebrows raised. He wouldn’t let Uncle Wangji yell at him.
...Right?
“Diedie… ”
“We need to take responsibility for the hurt we have caused. There is no getting out of it.”
“You were making fun of me,” A-Yuan sniffed, all miserable, turning in Uncle Wangji’s lap to look at him.
Everyone else was looking at him, too, and A-Fu got all hot and squirmy and ashamed because now everyone was mad and hated him. “I was just...I was teaching him...he wasn’t doing it right…” he whispered, his eyes all blurry.
He just wanted to be good at something. Why was he in trouble for being better than A-Yuan at something when A-Yuan had so many other things he was better at? It wasn't fair.
Uncle Wangji looked at A-Yuan, whose lip trembled as he said in a voice like a wobbly guqin string, “But you said it so mean.”
“I didn’t! That’s how they teach me !” A-Fu cried, pulling his hand down from his ear to scrub at his tears.
“Do you know it is wrong?” Uncle Wangji’s voice was quiet--which definitely wasn't yelling but it sure felt like it.
A-Fu just covered his face and didn’t say anything.
“Should you do it, if you are aware?”
“...No.”
Blue-Father knelt down beside him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “You know that this is not how we treat people. You need to practice empathy--think of how he is feeling. If it hurts you, it will hurt him. What do we say to A-Yuan?”
When A-Fu looked back at A-Yuan, seeing him still crying made A-Fu start crying again, which made A-Yuan start crying again and they hugged and A-Fu said he was so so sorry and he would never ever say anything mean to him ever again. A-Yuan forgave him right away, like he always did and hugged him back super tight. A-Fu saw Blue-Father smile a little at Uncle Wangji--who gave a teeny smile back. (A-Fu was getting better at being able to see them. They were there! Just quieter.) Then they both curled up on Blue-Father’s lap and played with the bunnies while Uncle Wangji played more nice songs on the guqin and things just all got so much better.
‘Empathy’ was a Blue-Father word--A-Fu noticed it popping up, like Blue-Father kept it in his pocket. Whenever he yelled when he got too mad or did something without thinking or talked before his mind caught up, it was ‘empathy empathy empathy’. Maybe it was his favorite or something.
Some of his other grown ups had pocket words, too--Great-Uncle Qiren’s was ‘Prohibited’ or ‘Impertinent’ and Yellow-Father’s was ‘Careful’. When A-Fu started looking, he kept noticing it more and more--when he played with A-Qiang a little too rough or balanced on the edge of the koi pond, he got a 'careful'. When he ran around right after a bath, he got a “Fufu, careful! ”
One time, he got a ton of ‘carefuls’ in a row, when he was in Koi Tower and he snuck out behind the nanny’s backs again. He went around and around in the halls to lose them until he was almost dizzy and when he finally stopped, he realized he didn’t recognize anything--there were no windows and more doors than usual,  dark and sturdy. The walls didn’t have as many fancy curlicues and dangly bits as the rest of Koi Tower, more plain blue with just some gold circles studding the pillars every once in a while. Well. A-Fu just had no idea where this was.
He wasn’t worried, though, because when he poked his head around a corner, he spotted Yellow-Father facing away, talking to a black and gold someone in a doorway, so he dashed down the hall and catapulted into his father’s legs and yelled a hello with a big grin. It wasn’t until he looked up at his father’s face that he noticed he wasn’t smiling back like he usually was. His expression was all tight and unhappy, his eyes darting between A-Fu and the man he was talking to.
The man was smiling down at him, though. But his eyes weren't friendly--they were dark and... waiting. They glittered like a snake and A-Fu even liked snakes--but he was pretty sure that people shouldn’t have the same sort of eyes.
Yellow-Father’s hand squeezed his shoulder as he tried to turn him around quick. “Fufu, you are not allowed down here, you need to--”
But A-Fu spotted something and he squirmed back around in his hands. “Why do you have that?” He pointed at the man’s hand where it sat on his hip with only the pinky covered by the black leather of his glove. “That’s weird.”
“Lan Fu-- ”
The fact that Yellow-Father just full-named him flew out of his head because A-Fu decided right then and there that he didn’t like this guy when he said, “Wow, you’re a rude little shit, aren’t you?” Then, the stranger man tilted his head, his wide, weird smile growing wider and weirder. “Ooooh, is this Er-ge’s spawn?”
A-Fu jutted his chin forward and folded his arms. “No, I’m--”
“That’s enough. I think you have somewhere to be,” Yellow-Father said. And A-Fu froze, looking up at him with wide eyes. Because Yellow-Father was never rude, no matter what--but his voice had been rough and cold like ice and he was staring at the snake eyed man. And he was finally smiling; all hard like a warning.
For some reason, that seemed funny to Snake Eye Guy and his teeth peeked through. “You’re not even going to introduce us?”
“No.” Yellow-Father took A-Fu by both shoulders and turned him, marching him right back down the hall.
“Rude. Do you like sweets, brat?” Snake Eye Guy called after them.
A-Fu scowled back over his shoulder as Yellow-Father kept steering him in front down the hallway, almost tripping him on his feet. “Yeah,” he said, super tough, just like Gray-Father would. “Why?”
“Come find me if you ever want any.” Then, he laughed, delighted when Yellow-Father’s fingers tightened on his shoulder like claws. “Oh, what, Lianfang-zun? What do you think I’m going to do to him? It’s just candy.” His mocking followed them around the corner A-Fu had to take at a jog.
Yellow-Father had hustled them down the strange corridors until they found the sun again. He was still squeezing until A-Fu yelped that he was squishing his bones out, and he let go right away. When he stopped to kneel down and rub them, he started scolding with a worried frown, “Fufu, you cannot keep doing this. You need to stay with your nannies and out of places that are not meant for you. You have to be more careful.”
A-Fu just wanted to know who that guy was and why his hand was like that and why he was so weird and why was Yellow-Father so mad at him and did he really have candy?
And Yellow-Father wouldn’t answer any of his questions at all. He just kept saying, so serious, that A-Fu could never be around him again or talk about him and that he needed to be careful. And usually A-Fu was annoyed at new rules, but this one seemed to make sense. It would also be pretty easy to follow, because he gave him the creeps and he didn't really want to have to talk to him again. But he still wanted to know-- “Why?”
“He’s not someone a child should be around. If he ever tries to talk to you again, you come and find me right away, Fufu. Do you promise me?”
“Who was he?”
“Do you promise ?”
A-Fu had to think. “Yeah. Why?”
“Just...don’t worry about him. You shouldn’t see him again, but if you do, leave at once.”
“Are you mad? Why can’t I talk about him?”
“...Because it would be gossip. Gossip is forbidden.”
A-Fu guessed that made sense. Maybe. He reached up and grabbed Yellow-Father’s hat dangly, asking, “Are you mad? Are you mad at me?”
Yellow-Father sighed and rubbed his face and then finally smiled at him, all squinchy and small and harassed. “No. No, I’m not mad. I’m sorry.” He pulled A-Fu in close and squeezed, kissing his forehead.
“Is he a bad guy?” A-Fu asked Yellow-Father’s neck. “I can beat him up for you, I’m getting really good at swords.”
Yellow-Father huffed out a breath and smoothed A-Fu’s hair down. “I’m sure you are. But no. Just...just be more careful. Don’t come here again. Stay with your nannies.”
“Why? Careful what?”
Yellow-Father pulled back and rubbed his temple. “It’s time to go back, now--and no more escaping! You can’t be so naughty, what are you going to do to my heart, making me worry? I’m going to have to have a talk with your nannies….”
If ‘Careful’ was Yellow-Father’s pocket word, maybe one of Gray-Father’s pocket words was the grownup word 'Conviction'. A-Fu first learned about it when he went to stay at the Unclean Realm for a whole entire month in the summer.
It was so much fun--he went into town with Uncle Huaisang a lot and hid in the sweet smelling fabric at the silk shops and got a little toy fan, just like Uncle Huaisang’s. Almost every day they went down and both got candied hawthorn sticks as they walked around and looked at things. A-Fu’s favorites were the toy stands--he got pinwheels for him and A-Yuan and A-Ling and A-Kui. He tried to get them in all the Clan Colors but they didn’t have red, so he got A-Kui yellow, too.
Sometimes, though, they would go into the forest and find a little stream where Uncle Huaisang would tie up their sleeves and they would try to catch fish with their hands. Uncle Huaisang was really bad at it and A-Fu told him so. He got so offended that he splashed him and got his robes all wet. And one day, they followed a little blue bird for-ev-er until A-Fu started complaining and scared it away. Uncle Huaisang had paid him in candy to not repeat any of the words he yelled at the sky as it flew off above the trees. Oh well. A-Fu liked hunting for things on the ground more anyway, like frogs or turtles. They couldn’t fly away and they were easy to stuff in his pockets or his sleeves. One time, he brought back, like, five toads and Gray-Father said the same bad words as Uncle Huaisang when they got on his important letters. From then on, toads were banned from the Unclean Realm, which made A-Fu grumpy. But at least he still had the 3 salamanders he found and he was learning new vocabulary words, like he did for school.
Other times, he would help weed and water the vegetable garden out behind Uncle Huaisang’s room. They had planted it together the last time that A-Fu had stayed a million years ago and things were still growing--but there were a couple beans and lettuce and carrots he got to munch on after they rinsed them off. It was kind of boring, but he got to look for worms and eat, so it wasn’t so bad.
Nie Zonghui, Gray-Father’s second in command, always had a nice smile and showed him how he could use his double sabers, which was the coolest thing next to Baxia. Now that he actually knew things about swords, A-Fu followed him around a lot when he was doing practice drills in the training yard with all the pink flower trees around it, copying his moves with sticks, since his practice sword was back in the Cloud Recesses. “I’m not certain I should be teaching you these,” Nie Zonghui said with a smile down at him as A-Fu hacked at a practice dummy’s butt. “Sabers and swords use different techniques and I don’t want to spoil your learning before you even start.”
“Well, if it’s my sword, I can use it how I want, right?”
“Mm. Not quite. You’ll be taught Lan skills.”
A-Fu frowned, wiping sweat off of his face with his sleeve, then shoving his headband up when it slipped. “Then I’ll get two--one sword, one saber and I’ll use them in two hands like you and it will be the coolest thing anyone has ever seened.”
Nie Zonghui grinned and looked over at the Nie shijie that was snickering nearby at the next dummy. “Uh, that will be a sight. I look forward to it.”
A-Fu nodded firmly at them. “Yeah, you do that.”
When Gray-Father stopped doing boring work talking to people and came out on the training grounds, A-Fu would challenge him to a duel and fight him with a Nie practice saber. It didn't always go so well because Gray-Father knew more moves, but when it got too complicated, A-Fu just whacked his shins and knees really hard and then tackled his tummy so they fell on the dirt and laughed. When Gray-Father wasn’t around, the cool Nie disciples sometimes let him whack them in the knees! He just had to promise to avoid the nards, which he thought was fair.
He would go walking and playing with Gray-Father on days where he was back from Night Hunting and meetings, riding on his back or one shoulder like he was Clan Leader--or even a King! When he sat up there, he was so tall, he could probably be in charge of anybody! Sometimes Gray-Father was grumpy and not in the mood for a lot of wrestling. Sometimes he told A-Fu to ‘calm down and cut it out’ when he got super bouncy or loud. But most times, he was happy to see A-Fu and threw him up into the air or pretended to eat him or asked him all about his day. And A-Fu was so super happy to see him too, because he missed him.
Sometimes, though, he got a little sad and missed Blue-Father and A-Yuan and his Cloud Recesses friends and the bunnies and Uncle Wangji and even Great-Uncle Qiren. Sometimes, he had nightmares where he woke up in a place he didn’t know and no one would look at or talk to him. Those times, Gray-Father would let him crawl into bed once he knocked on the door. He would hug him close to his chest and pat his back and say that he missed Blue-Father, too, and he wouldn’t ever leave A-Fu anywhere he didn’t know. The Unclean Realm was his home, just like Cloud Recesses and just like Koi Tower, but he just had a whole bunch more practice of Cloud Recesses. He was used to the night noises of the bugs and the shush of the tree outside his window when the wind blew. Well, he told his father, A-Fu just needed to stay here more often, that’s all! And he had smiled.
When Gray-Father heard about how good he was getting at swords in school, he was so totally proud of him. His father ruffled up his hair and smushed his cheeks and said, “Practicing a lot, are you? You’re going to be a fearsome warrior just like your die? Smite all the evil?”
A-Fu got that happy sparkly feeling bubbling up again. “Yeah!”
Uncle Huaisang grinned and fwipped his fan shut, patting A-Fu’s shoulder with it. “Ah, good job, good job! What about reading and writing, xiao-Fu? I bet your calligraphy is going to be impeccable!”
A-Fu wrinkled his nose--peckable? "We don't keep birds like that in the Cloud Recesses, shushu," he reminded him, all patient. Ugh, did he ever think about anything else besides birds?
His uncle and his father looked at each other. "Oh, of course! My mistake. But I bet with your shu-gong on your case, you're the top of the class!"
A-Fu shrugged, flapping his toy fan open and closed really fast, the way that made Uncle Huaisang wince (and he did). “I hate reading. It’s stupid and hard. I like doing swords way more, I’m better at stabbing. ” When he said it, he jabbed the fan forward with both hands toward Gray-Father’s chest.
Gray-Father did a complicated twisty thing with his hand and snatched it right from A-Fu’s fingers, bopping him on the head with it. “Good boy, practicing.”
A-Fu wrapped both arms around the sting and scowled. “Hey!”
Uncle Huaisang sighed. "Aiya, another one. Promise me you'll at least still paint with me?"
Before he could answer, Gray-Father asked, “How are you with a bow and arrow? Have you started yet? Maybe we could try hunting sometime soon.”
Uncle Huaisang made a scrunchy face, folding his arms. “Da-ge, don’t you think that’s too rough for him? And... would Er-ge approve?”
Some of the happy went away from Gray-Father’s face and he looked over at Uncle Huaisang. “I went out with die around his age. And Xichen has agreed that he should have a broad education.”
“But he’s just a baby!”
What!
Extremely offended, A-Fu puffed up and raised his fists. “I’m not a baby! I can hunt! Die, die, I can hunt, can’t I?”
“Of course you can. I can take you later today. How about it?”
When A-Fu cheered, Uncle Huaisang rolled his eyes and muttered something, fanning himself real fast.
When they went, it was still a nice day but the sun was so bright when it peeked through the leaves, A-Fu had to squint against it and sweat kept trickling down his neck, even though the air was cool up in the mountains. They were both clopping through the forest on Gray-Father’s big brown horse, Leiting, with A-Fu perched in front on the saddle. He felt very important and tall and he kept very quiet just like Gray-Father told him to be, looking around with his practice bow in his lap. When he snuggled back against him, he felt Gray-Father chuckle in his belly and he reached down to pat A-Fu’s chest. Then, his father sat up, straight and quick, and twisted to the side, shooting his bow with a twunnnnng before A-Fu even knew what was happening.
And it turned out that Uncle Huaisang was actually right.
Because when they got down and found the arrow butt poking up from the bushes, A-Fu’s tummy clenched up tight like a fist. The other end was stuck in a bunny. It was lying there all floppy with blood coming out of its mouth and nose. The one dark eye he could see was looking at the sky, reflecting the sun coming through the leaves. It wasn’t moving. It wasn’t ever gonna move again.
It was dead.
And all A-Fu could think was that this bunny wasn’t ever going to feel the hot sun again or eat a flower or anything.
He had heard about killing before, and he knew what dead was. Kind of. Sort of. He had just never thought about it for Really Real, actually happening. It was for stories and legends. It hadn’t meant anything before now.
Suddenly, the nice day was horrible and awful and he burst into tears, startling Gray-Father and Leiting, who swung his huge head around to stare at all the noise. Then, he puffed out a breath and shook his head with a jangle.
“Why did w-we gotta shoot it!? It’s j-just a bun-unny!”
Gray-Father frowned and knelt down next to him, a hand on his shoulder. “What did you think hunting was, child?”
“I do- hic- on't know! Why did you do that?!”
“We hunt animals and take them home for their fur and meat. For food.”
He stared down at the bunny’s big gray body, just laying there on the ground. “Food?!”
“That’s how we eat. What did you think was in rabbit stew?”
“I don’t k-know ! Bits! P-Parts!”
With a face screwed up, Gray-Father pinched his nose with his fingers, then looked at A-Fu again. “You thought we just cut parts of an animal off? That would be cruel, their legs and things don’t grow back. Chicken is chickens. Pork is pigs. We kill them and eat their meat, just like wolves and tigers do. It’s the natural order of things.”
This was the worst news in the world. All this time, he had been eating silly chickens and fluffy rabbits? They were dying? No wonder there were Lan rules about not eating meat or killing in the Cloud Recesses! He wrapped his arms around his tummy and yelled, “I hate it!! I’m-m never gonna kill an-nything ever!”
Sighing, Gray-Father picked him up. A-Fu put his arms around his neck and wiped his nose on his shoulder, smushing his face into his chest. He smelled like leather and the sun. With a thump, Gray-Father sat down on something, maybe a log, patting his back. “We are cultivators. One day, it will be your job to kill evil things--”
“Bunnies aren’t bad guys! They never hurt anyone! ”
Pat pat. “I never said that. Listen to me. You don’t have to like it, but it’s important to know what goes into your food. Everything in this world has its price.”
“I’m n- never gonna eat meat ag-gain!”
“Child--”
“No ! Never! It’s ho-horrible!”
A-Fu felt him heave another sigh as he kept pat-patting. “Alright, alright, deep breath. It’s your choice--you’ll be like your Blue-die and rest of the Lan. If this is what you decide, then we’ll make you vegetarian food when you come here...and I’m sure the cooks in Koi Tower will do the same. But you can’t be picky about what you eat, because you need to grow up strong. You’ll eat what’s put in front of you.” Gray-Father peeled him back and looked down at him with a serious face as A-Fu sniffled. “That means no more of Jin-shao-furen’s rib and lotus root soup or pork bao. No sneaking things with meat from the kitchen just because you get tired of it. If you have a conviction about something, you stick to it. It means nothing if it changes when you please--that’s not conviction, that’s convenience. Do you understand?”
This was obviously a way bigger decision than he had thought when he first said it. He scrubbed at his eyes and stared at the threads sparkling on his father’s robes in the sunlight as he thought. They were bright gold in the dark green, like the fish scales in Uncle Zixuan and Aunt Yanli’s koi pond. “...N-no more pork bao? Or bo-mu’s soup?”
Gray-Father raised his eyebrows and nodded. “Or chicken or fish or any sort of meat.”
He snuck another peek over at the arrow poking up out of the bushes, then stuck out his chin, crossed his arms and announced, “Yes. Never.”
With a big, rough thumb, Gray-Father wiped his tears away from his cheeks, then rested his hand on his shoulder. It was really warm. “Alright. Think more before you decide, because it’s a big change. And if you believe in something, I expect you to mean it.”
A-Fu wasn’t going to think more because he meant it, he really, really did. He didn’t even look at the body of the rabbit as Gray-Father brought it home and he hid behind his hands when they stopped by the kitchen to drop it off. When a golden Jin butterfly fluttered from the sky, Gray-Father scowled and lifted A-Fu down from Leiting’s big back and set him on the ground. “Go find Huaisang. I’ll be by later.”
Instead, A-Fu first wandered to his room and ate the rest of the sticky candied hawthorn that he had forgotten next to his bed and felt a little better. Then, he went and found Uncle Huaisang. He burst right into his room and announced how terrible hunting was. “Did you know they kill the animals!?” he demanded up at him. “Did you know that? I think everyone should!”
Uncle Huaisang pressed his lips together, looking at the door like it had said something rude. Then, he took A-Fu out into their garden and together, they threw seeds on the warm ground and watched the different birds come fluttering down, bright as little bits of colored cloth. He even showed A-Fu how to follow them from behind and reach down to catch it. He wouldn’t let A-Fu try on his own, cause he might grab too hard, but he let him hold one really, really gentle in his hands after he caught it.
It was tiny and smooth and he could feel its little heart beating super fast against his fingertips through its fluff as it looked around. It was so light and small that he all of a sudden got worried that he would squeeze too hard and kill it, so he let it go.
The rest of the day while he played and ate and ran around and snuggled with Gray-Father, the rabbit totally wasn’t even in his head.
But that night, after he was tucked into bed and the lantern got blown out, he laid there and thought about the bunny and death. What if they killed a baby bunny's mommy and now it was all alone in the dark? What if it was a Cloud Recesses bunny's cousin? What if they had just killed A-Yuan's bunnies’ A-Yuan? A-Yuan would cry and cry and cry all day if he had seen.
Rolling over onto his back, he watched the branches outside wave against his ceiling in the moonlight, rustling outside his window in the wind that blew in the sweet smell of flowers. Death seemed to be what big, strong things did to littler, weaker things. It made sense--people were bigger and stronger than the bunny, so they killed it. Tigers were bigger and stronger than regular people, so they killed them.
Were his birth parents small and weak? They had to be. Had someone shot them through the heart, just like Gray-Father did today? He squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed them, green and black speckled clouds of stars squishing around in the dark. Before today, they had just been a story Blue-Father told him. It hadn’t been real life. And he never really thought or wondered about them dying; they just were dead already. But he guessed that they didn’t just come that way because dead people couldn’t have babies. It was weird.
It was better that he had his real fathers, now. They wouldn’t ever leave him and Gray-Father could beat up every tiger.
When he got back to the Cloud Recesses at the end of the month, he made sure everyone knew what hunting really was. “And the bunny just died!”
Great-Uncle Qiren sipped from his tea cup, then set it back down in front of him. “Yes, that is the nature of hunting. If you’re worried, it does not sound like the creature suffered.”
“Uh…” No, he hadn’t thought about that. “That’s good. I guess.”
Blue-Father squeezed the base of his neck, comfortingly. “That must have been quite a shock if you weren’t expecting it.”
“Yeah….Did my birth parents get shot by an arrow?”
Blue-Father took in a quick breath, but it was Great-Uncle Qiren who said, in a quieter, kinder voice, “No, Lan Fu. They died in battle, protecting their Clan. You don’t need to know more than that.”
“Why?”
“There is no need to trouble your mind with such knowledge while you are young. Know they did what they could to protect you. As Xichen does now.”
“I won’t be troubled!”
Great-Uncle Qiren shook his head, mouth a tiny bit smiley under his moustache. “Enough.”
“Will you tell me later? When I’m older?”
He tilted his head a little. “Perhaps.”
“7?”
“No, it will be many years. Do not ask again, I will not answer.”
A-Fu looked up at Blue-Father, who was petting the ends of his hair where it laid over his shoulders, watching him with a soft smile. “I’m never gonna go hunting again,” he said, firmly. “I’m gonna eat like a Lan always.”
Blue-Father’s eyes curved up and Great-Uncle Qiren made a little bit of a pleased face and nodded. “It is wise of you to consider the sanctity of life and purity of your body. It is why we have this rule.”
Huh! There were good reasons for rules! A-Fu never knew.
When he told his class, some of them already knew about it, like the older kids and A-Yuan--which wasn’t surprising because A-Yuan knew everything. But a lot of them asked questions, which he did his best to answer while feeling very important. They asked him things like ‘did you see its ghost?’ and ‘was it scary?’ and he demonstrated being dead a couple times, then Gray-Father being the hunter. After a while, they all wanted to try and they ended up all taking turns pretending to die and kill each other in a big game around the practice yard, which was really fun! Until Teacher Lan Hai came back outside and had them practice tightrope again.

Hanzo Hisashi X Innocent! Reader
Thank you EzraPFoxglove01for requesting this adorable thing! I sorta changed a lot you asked for by making it go into depth, and it ended up being the longest story I've ever written lol. So I'm definitely gonna add a shorter, more cutesy version of this story soon.
Change her outfit all you wish; it doesn't have a big part in the story at all. Though due to where she lives, it sorta makes sense for traditional Japanese wear to be her attire. And this is the kimono I have in mind, but change whatever :D To be honest, it makes sense to change the look to be more suitable for fighting while still maintaining an innocent, feminine character.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hay....ya!" A feminine voice yelled out as she kicked a large hole into a tree. She didn't really have an specific training area so she often kicked and punched holes into tough looking trees, which proven to be as affective as training dummies and whatnot. She pulled away from the tree with a large smile on her innocent features.
She held her arms up to her chest with clinched fists. "Alright! Just 113 more to go," she reminded herself as she prepared for another kick. Yet just before she kicked the tree, she heard rustling in the bushes surrounding her.
She paused and looked around her everywhere. The wind began to blow which made it hard to hear whoever or whatever move again as the wind blew the all the bushes. She made a pouty face and walked over to where she heard the noise the first time. She had a bag that wrapped around her colorful kimono that contained kunai knives, and she pulled one out just in case. To be honest, with her small, airhead, and pouty form, she was the least intimidating person most people could ever see. And her small, F/C kimono with cherry trees on it added onto it.
The wind slowed down for a second and in that time, rustling in the bushes was heard again, where it did last time. "Huh?" She hummed as she slowly and cautiously opened up the bushes. "W-Who's there!" She yelled nervously as she parted the bushes completely. "Ahhh!" She screamed as she stepped back, tripping on whatever she stepped on. A baby bunny jumped on top of her from the bushes, it's guinea pig looking face staring boldly at her. Fuck it was frightening for a bunny to withhold so much toughness and boldness.
She whined as she pulled the bunny of her, causing it to run away quickly. She stumbled to her feet, barely managing to maintain her own balance for a moment. She watched the bunny hop away into the forest as she calmed her nerves. Once it disappeared, she sighed and opened her bag to put away her knife. Yet the sound of a voice behind her caused her to throw it towards the voice with perfect aim and fast speed. Yet as she turned around, she saw her kunai knife had been frozen but it wasn't frozen quick enough to prevent the one and only Kuai Liang from behind cut a little.
"Good aim," the Sub Zero complimented in his deep and husky voice, a smirk on his face. He pulled the kunai from the ice prison it was it and tossed it towards Y/N. Y/N's innocent E/C eyes widened as she gasped.
"Liang!" She ran towards him to hug him– but no, we can't have that without her tripping halfway. "Oof!" She hit the ground hard and whined as she slowly stood back up. She had cut her face on a rock but that wasn't good enough for her to not want to hug him just as hard. So once she stood up, she lunged at him and hugged him so incredibly hard. "I missed you! How are you!"
Kuai chuckled as he softly wrapped his arms around her. "I see you haven't changed one bit, dear friend." It's true that the two of them are close friends; although they don't have any fundamental qualities in common, they managed to meet one day and their opposite personalities captured each other's interest. And so here they are, together after departed months back. Right after Sub Zero and others were free from Quan Chi, the two got close again and only had a couple weeks to get close again before Kuai had to leave. Finally, months later, they're together again!
"I've been just fine, L/N. How about yourself?" He asked as he pulled his arms down. As expected, Y/N didn't let go and continued to sway back and forth.
"Oh, I've been good! Sorta lonely, yeah but I met this one guy! He leads an entire clan that let me in!" Y/N sweet voice called out in reply, her eyes twinkling. "I don't see him often but we've been talking a lot more recently. He's really nice...like a big, strong, teddy bear, hehe," she giggled as her legs went limp. Kuai chuckled at her dramatic description and pat her head; pushing the person she's talking about to the back of his mind. She got back on her feet again and pulled away from him. "Sooooo...do you have any combat stories to share? An adventure?"
Kuai shook his head. "Unfortunately nothing to tell now, but soon," he spoke as he looked up at the bright blue sky. It was maybe 8 in the morning  at the time. Y/N held her arms in front of her as she swayed back and forth as her head tilted in confusion.
"Okay...Oh! There's flowers growing around here and I want you to see it. They're so pretty- and pink," She emphasized as she took Kuai's hand and pulled him to a nearby pond. The trees surrounding the pond were waves with red and pink flowers ground from them. It's hard to tell, but in the distant was a village. And jn that village was, drum roll please, Hanzo Hizashi himself. As the two friends spoke about the scenery, Hanzo had just gotten ready for a day of training.
As he stepped outside, he took a deep breath and examined the place surrounding him. The birds were singing, the soft winds brushing past the trees and plants, the warm sun and clear skies. The sound of children playing can be heard from the background. It was pure bliss really. Yet even so, he had an uneasy feeling wash over him. The feeling that there could possibly be an unwanted visitor.
Hanzo walked closed the door behind him and walked out. He took his time going from his home to a place a little outside of the village; a more personalized dojo. It contained dummies and targets designed for his spear and fire. The little dojo was little ways across a pond near the village so that's where he was headed.
"And that's why that's my favorite color," Y/N said as she finished her story. Kuai Liang, to be honest, wasn't paying attention to her at all and simply nodded. She smiled at his politeness to at least pretend to acknowledge what she's saying; Y/N knows she can get really immature sometimes and right now really isn't her best moment. "Eheh, so what do you want to do?"
Kuai looked over at her with a soft smile on his features. He really was such a peaceful man at heart. "I believe I saw a few rare ducks fly into the pond. Would you like to go see them?"
"You're not going anywhere."
Y/N sharply turned her head towards the pissed looking man walking towards the duo and gasped. She stood up, saying, "Kuai, this is the man that let me into his village! Hey Hanzo, this is Kuai‐"
"He already knows who I am," Kuai cut her off coldly and stood up. "Hanzo, I mean you no harm; had I known this was your territory, I would not have come." Hanzo pulled a sword from his back and held it up in a firey fists once he got close to them. Y/N stared idlely at them with growing anxiety. The two picked up on that quickly, making Kuai speak up again before Hanzo could. "The girl does not know of our rivalry. Don't punish her for my mistake, Hanzo‐"
"Do no speak to me like that. Leave at once!" Hanzo may be alive, but that doesn't mean he can't revert his voice back to his hellish Scorpion one. Kuai took a few steps back before turning around and disappearing. Hanzo and Y/N watched the whole way through in complete silence. Once Kuai was gone, they silence broke.
"I–"
"And you," Hanzo walked up to her and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt. "Exactly what made you think bringing a guest without permission was anywhere near exceptable? You endanger every one of us at this village that way." Y/N could feel his fire-hot breath against her as he spoke. A shiver fell down her spine as looked him right in the eye. She didn't respond, but rather bow her head. Hanzo scoffed, flames igniting from his fist that began to burn her clothes, making her whimper beneath him. She felt the flames heating up her neck, which made her whimper more as the pain wasn't something she was exposed to often. "Part of me wants to kill you right now. You are very lucky to have caught me in a better light."
Hanzo let go of her, stepping away. Y/N bowed her full body lowly, hands to her knees. "I'm deeply sorry sir, I really am. I promise I will never bring another guest again. I knew not of Kuai and your's relationship and if I had known when I met him in the woods a little bit ago, I would have got him to leave. It was foolish of me to have not stayed in the village and possibly risks a bloody situation. For that, I am sorry." As Y/N finished, she heard nothing but the sound of a sword being put away.
"As long as this never happens again, L/N," he spoke coldly. "I forgive you. You may continue what you were doing before he arrived here."
"Thank you so much, sir!" Y/N called out happily as she stood up straight with a smile on her face. "I promise you won't regret it!" Hanzo remained quiet and simply glanced down instead. A more calm and positive feeling took over his previous anger quickly, leaving behind a little bit of confusion. Y/N took a few steps back over to where that tree she was kicking earlier was before Hanzo spoke up again.
"I apologize for being so harsh, as well. You said you met you here; was this planned?" He asked her as he his fists were undone. Y/N shook her head when she turned back towards him. Hanzo examined her face for a moment before sighing, then a smile grew on his face. "Very well. I appreciate your honesty. Actually, would you care to join me for tea later? As leader of this clan, it feels right for me to know all my people, whether they are a weary traveler or blood."
"Of course I would," she said softly. "What time?"
"Tomorrow at dawn."
"So be it." And with that, Hanzo began to walk towards his dojo and Y/N walked towards her special tree. The two of them had that tea on their minds as they practiced whatever it is they were practicing. How would it turn out? Would Y/N innocent immaturity get her in trouble? Would Hanzo appear too serious? Will they make up and gain trust? Maybe something else? We'll see in the next paragraph.
Time flies by quickly when you're having a good time, and for Hanzo, he was quite happy about the thought of getting to know Y/N more. And also to learn more of her relations with Kuai. As for Y/N, she was nervous as all hell since she knows she can be a handful sometimes. To be honest, a simple deep breath was able to calm her down and bring the adult side out of her. So here she was now, looking at herself in the mirror of her guest cabin and taking deep breaths to calm her nerves.
"You got this Y/N," she told herself as she took her final deep breath. The kimono she was wearing was different as it was longer and above the wrists, meaning she was unmarried. It still had a pretty design on it, with the colors overall being F/C, pink, yellow, and blue. The had her H/C hair up in a bun with two strands falling over her shoulders. She had a pin that kept her hair up with a beautiful flower attached to it. To contribute to her Japanese asthetic, she had a folded fan that was black with red cherry trees designs in it in her hand.
She smiled at herself in the mirror one more time before she turned to face the door. She slid open the door to the guest home and put on her shoes before walking outside. She closed the door and prepared to head off the selected location. On the other hand, Hanzo was sure to be formal as well.
He wore a montsuki, which is a formal black kimono worn over a white under-kimono and hakama, which are traditional Japanese trousers. It was common for samurais to wear this underneath their armor, so it suited him well. After all, he was both ninja and samurai; he kept his hair in a man manbun as well. He was very good at maintaining a formal way of speaking and acting, yet he knew Y/N isn't all that. Someone as free spirited and naive really isn't all that capable of it, in his mind.
He was sitting down in a chabudai; one of those short legged tables that have cushions to sit on your knees on rather than to sit on chairs. At the moment, in another room of his lonely home, was a kettle that was boiling water. Authoress is not a Japanese fanatic who knows Japanese and is basing these designs of real Samurai and Wife dolls by their bed, I swear. It was perhaps halfway done by the time he heard a voice call from the outside of the front door; "Hello, it's Y/N. May I come in?"
Hanzo smiled softly to himself as he stood up and walked over to the door, sliding it open. To say he was shocked to see the free spirited girl in such a good-mannered attire was an understatement. "You look lovely tonight," he stated as he looked Y/N head to toe. On Y/N's side, she noticeably blushed and gave him a sweet look.
"You look lovely as well, truly."
Hanzo raised a brow and stepped aside for Y/N to step inside. And rather than her normal fast walk with swaying arms side to side, she slowly walked in with her hands held together in front of her. "I haven't yet seen this side of you, Miss L/N. I am a proper kind of person so don't think I won't hold it against you if you act unmannerly," he teased as Y/N giggled to herself and took her shoes off at the front door.
"I thought that maybe I should act a bit more, I guess, fancy in order to match you. As long as you don't believe in the whole women are beneath us bigger men and shouldn't talk unless spoken to thing, then this shouldn't be too hard, hehehe," Y/N said as she was lead to the chabudai by Hanzo. She sat down on her knees on side and he on the other.
"Of course I would not act on such a thing. We are all human with equal rights," Hanzo replied as he sat his hands in his lap. His looked down at Y/N'a hands, which were on the table, before shooting her a look that told her that she was doing something wrong. Y/N hummed in confusion before gasping lightly. She put her hands in her lap and smiled innocently, creating a chuckle from Hanzo.
Come to think of it, the hone hasn't yet been described. It's easy to imagine the paper and wood that made up the walls and doors, and the warm light that shun over the two people. The carvings on the wood above them and around them, the large pot with a bonsai in it in the corner of the room. The little wooden seats with drawers distilled in them built into the walls of the home. The wooden tables with traditional statues and little plants in pots across the home. The sword holder near the front door, the mats across the floor to give the unique taste. In the kitchen had built in furnaces where people would burn a fire in the wholes on the bottom and put cooking appliances and kyūsus on top of it. If you don't want to imagine that, here's something help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Have you ever studied Japanese arts? Surely you must have had some experience in a place like this, or perhaps a friend to lecture you on what to do," Hanzo explained his thought process as he looked interestingly at the smaller girl.
"Actually, I had Kuai teach me a lot about Chinese culture. But when I met a swordsman named Kenshi, I learned more of Japanese tradition. I may not be the best, but I tried to use my knowledge of both cultures to act as good as possible! Um, I mean," she paused as her face lit up red. "To act as good as possible." She but the inside of her lip nervously as she grew more and more embarrassed of her voice level as she spoke. Hanzo chuckled.
"I'm glad I invited you here. You are very knowledgeable it seems. Plus quite entertaining," he complimented. The kyūsu began to steam loudly, meaning it was finished. Hanzo glanced over to the kitchen.
"Heh, I wouldn't say knowledgeable," Y/N replied, "but thank you." Hanzo stood up, nodding his head towards her as he walked put of the room.
"I apologize but the tea must be attended to. I will be back in a few moments," Hanzo explained before he disappeared behind a wall. Y/N nodded in understandment and began to fight with her hair, kimono ends, fingers, and whatever else she could once he walked out. When Hanzo walked into the kitchen, he felt heat rise to his face. He leaned onto a little table with his hand on it to keep his steady and his other hand over his chest. Oh kami, he thought, she gets cuter each time I see her. Whether she's trying to be like me but failing miserably or being her bubbly self does not matter; she is perfect.
He did his best to calm his nerves before grabbing the kettle from the furnace and grabbing a kyūsu, an appliance for making tea, and slowly pouring hot water into it. He made a kind of sweet green tea, one that many foreigners don't know about, called Sencha. It has to be made with the coolest kind of hot water, basically, otherwise it will turn bitter. He made sure the watch it carefully for about half a minute before grabbing two cups and pouring the tea. He then picked up the two cups and headed back to the chabudai. Yet before he got to the room, he paused.
A feminine voice sung a soft song as she waited for Hanzo to return. Hanzo felt his cheeks heat up again and his chest felt warm. He could recall this feeling but from where he first felt it is unknown to him. The ready may be able to assume that he was thinking of his first love, his wife, and how he felt when he fell in love with her. But that idea hadn't even crossed his mind as he felt there was no way he could ever feel such an extreme emotion towards anyone else. And marriage isn't even a question since she isn't from the clan. He took a deep breath before walking back into the room.
Y/N stopped singing and she smiled widely as she saw him. "Hey Hanzo! Or, um, sorry, haha. The tea smells very nice," she complimented as she gripped the sides of the cup with her little fingers. Yeah, there was definitely a way he could feel such an extreme emotions towards anyone else. Hanzo sat down on his knees on the other side of her, mumbling a quick thank you to Y/N and a thank you to the Gods' gift of tonight. And in his mind, a thank you for what to him felt like a gift from the Gods' to end his grief from his early wife.
"Mm! This is really good!" Y/N gasped after tasting it. "This is the best tea I've ever had!" Her eyes were wide in awe and her expression showing her impressment. Hanzo chuckled at her adorable reaction as he took a sip of his wom drink. It's been maybe 8 minutes since Y/N got there and she already forgot to remain all traditional and civil. It was adorable to him; she was so precious really.
And throughout the night, the two of them talked and laughed and jokes and got close. They remained at the chabudai most of the night, aside from when Y/N asked for a tour. She adored the bonsais, scenery that can be seen from outside the window, paintings around the home, and everything. She was so naive but to Hanzo, that wasn't particularly a bad thing. It made her all the more fun to be around. And because of how great of a night they were having, they even agreed to meet up the next day.
"Excuse me, Miss Y/N," Hanzo said as he stood up from the chabudai. "I will be back in one moment. Please help yourself to more tea if you'd like."
"I will," Y/N responded sweetly. Oh, on a side note, Y/N completely forgot about the traditional thing completely so don't expect her to stay put in the few minutes Hanzo was gone. Actually, by the time Hanzo came back, Y/N had her head in her arms on the table her body slowly rising and falling with the rhythm of her breaths. Hanzo couldn't help but find himself smiling down at her. He got that warm feeling in his chest again though it was different this time. It wasn't as unfamiliar as before. He knew what it was; it was love slowly blossoming.
He sighed softly before picking up the sleeping girl's tired form and carrying her against his chest. She shifted a little bit in his grasp and ended up being hudled against him more, making that warn feeling in Hanzo's chest grow more. Such a sweet, innocent creature. He slid open his door and brought her back to her guest home, where he laid her in bed and brought her hair down from its updo in order for it to not be as bad of a mess tomorrow. He kissed her forehead and then left to sleep in his own bed until the next morning.
The next day was the same as the previous. And then the day after that, and the day after that day, and so forth. But one day was a particularly cold day and a cold blanket of snow began to cover the land. Y/N was at Hanzo's place, watching the snow fall through an open window with her E/C eyes wide in amazement at the beauty. Hanzo was standing behind her with two cups of tea in his hand.
"Would you care for a drink?" He asked, making Y/N turn around.
"Thank you, Hanzo!" She said as she took the drink from him and took a big sip. It tasted sweet, as it was the tea she had when she came over for the first time. "Say, I sorta wish we could have gone outside today. I noticed that you like to fight in that place by the pond a lot; which is really great to watch! You're so strong, hehe. But you've never actually seen me fight before," she explained right before she took a sip of tea. "Y'know, I'm painfully aware that people view me as an immature, innocent, naive girl who isn't the most aware of her surroundings. But I think you'll be impressed to see what I can do," she said confidently as she hummed.
Hanzo took a sip from his tea and nodded. "Perhaps. When it gets warmer out, I'd love to watch what you can do," he replied with an extra caring tone with his voice. He caught onto his tone quickly and blushed a little bit. "But there is something we can do outside," he started.
"What is it?" Y/N asked, standing up.
"Well, there's a hotspring nearby. We can swim in there if you'd like. However be sure to dress in something not too revealing if you would like to."
"There is? I'd love to!" She exclaimed as she bounced up and down. "I'll dmgi get dressed now," she eagered on as she put her shoes back on before leaving. Hanzo grabbed her up of tea and brought it to the kitchen. It's a shape it would go to waste, but he can always make more. He returned to his bedroom to grab something to put on while swimming but please, just imagine what he'd wear to swim. Traditional swimwear is too nasty to be used in this book, but swimming trunks are too modern. As for Y/N, considering she never had a particular home or culture, it made sense for her to just wear a full body suit she could have gotten from anywhere in Earthrealm.
Of course, the both of them were sure to bathe before hopping into the hot spring. Well, Hanzo slowly got in whereas Y/N jumped in without any care. It was warm, shocker there.
"Ahh...Thank the Elder Gods for getting me here before I froze to death," Y/N shuddered as chills ran up her spine. Though those chills were disappearing as the warmth of the hot spring washer over her soon enough. Hanzo rested his body against the large rocks around the hot spring and found a seat-like area. Y/N swam around happily and sung to herself.
Oh, one thing worth mentioning for the sake of the next paragraph is that Y/N had a necklace around her neck. Hanzo had never noticed it before as it was always under her kimono or shirt. However that necklace had a great significance go it; she was told that with that necklace, she would be able to find her parents who seemed to have lost her at birth. That necklace was the only thing that remained of them and hopefully destiny was kind enough to help her find her parents.
"Kyaa–" shrieked as a splashing sound was heard. Hanzo stopped daydreaming and looked over at Y/N, who's hair covered he face and arm frantically tried to keep her body floating. She quickly pushed her hair out of her face and whined over and over again worried. Hanzo instinctively swam over there as fast as possible, grabbing ahold of her gently yet sturdy. "Where is it!" She cried out, feeling her body and looking around the waters.
"Where is what?" Hanzo asked in his husky voice that was now in a confused tone.
"My necklace! I can't find my necklace!" She replied worriedly, tears swelling in her eyes. Hanzo looked at the tears forming and felt his whole body shiver woman's his heart drop. "I can't see it anywhere!" Hanzo began to swim towards the rock formation he was against earlier, making Y/N cry out, "wait!"
"Y/N," Hanzo sternly spoke. "I will find your necklace and return it. Worry not, please, dear friend," he reassured, taking her hand in his. She shook nervously and wiped her tears. Slowly, she nodded which told Hanzo he could swim away now. And so he did; he headed towards the stop where she cried out and with one deep breath, he went underwater. He had to hold his nose for warm waters were very dangerous to go under as dangerous fungi grow in hot waters. Yet even so, he swam to the bottom of the hot spring using one hand to stir around to look for the necklace.
Y/N waited on the rocks, sniffing and whimpering. She hasn't told Hanzo the origin of the necklace, but he could tell it was important to her. When she was little, she was handed the necklace and was told it would help her find her missing mother as long as she stayed pure. What that means is that Y/N had to remain free from murder, theft, and other ways of sin. Not only that, but she could not ever preform certain adult actions as then she would never find her parents (I say that because Y/N never had a parent figure to teach her what nono stuff is), which is her number one goal in life. She grew up going from city to city, state to state, country to country, and even had been in Outworld before. She grew up with so many cultures and had never found someone that was like her in any way. It felt like she didn't have an identity as she had nothing to trace her orgins to.
Splash! Hanzo took a deep breath of air as he finally reached the surface again, with a silver necklace with a S/F/C gem inside it that's carved to show an unknown design. "Is this your necklace?" He asked as he held it up. Y/N gasped, lunging back into the water and swimming towards Hanzo. Once she got up to him, she wrapped her arms around his muscular figure and cried.
"You found it! Thank you so much!" She cried out happily, pressing her body against him. Hanzo blushed at the sudden affection and slipped the necklace back onto her. He adjusted the back of of it so it wouldn't fall off her so easily again. "I love Hanzo... You're the best friend I've ever had... I really mean it," she whimpered out. Hanzo began to swim towards the rock formation again and once he did, Y/N let go of him.
"I appreciate it, Y/N. I love you as well, you're the closest friend I've ever had," he said back to her with a warm smile on his features. Y/N smiled back at him before examining her unharmed necklace.
"Hmm... Ever since I could remember, I would move from every country in the world to another. I've been to Paris, Beijing, New York, London, Los Angeles, a few different places in Mexico and Colombia, Holland, Tokyo, Osaka, and many more. I was carried from place to place by various of adoptive mothers, and each of them left a bit of their culture and identity with me by the time I left.
"But I had one that was a fortune teller and psychic. She was incapable kf having kids and didn't want to go through the trouble of raising one, so she took me, an 11 year old girl. She gasped when she saw me and took me in immediately. Before I left her, she gave me this necklace. "Y/N," she said, "you have the potential to see your real parents again. Train, grow stronger, read, grow smarter, listen, grow wiser. Stray away from the evil in the world and remain pure from your soul to your body. This is how you'll find your mother.""
Y/N paused and looked up at the larger male. He seemed intrigued with her story and made sure to listen carefully to her every word. So she continued, "as I grew older and began to travel on my own, I thought of her words every single hour of every day. I had no reason to live as I ever did was travel and meet new people, only to leave and never see them again. Just knowing who I really was became my only reason for existing. To this day, I bet the relief of meeting my real mom will feel like being deaf and hearing music, or being blind and seeing color, or being able to walk again after being paralyzed. But now," she paused.
Y/N smiled and looked up at Hanzo. "It's strange to feel so in place, so correct. I-I know I never felt this way about any place before! But I really think that as long as you're around, my chances of meeting my mom are good! Just being with you gives me hope for the next day, truly. It's like being with you is my reason to exist."
Hanzo closed his eyes and smiled back at her. He wrapped his arms around and embraced her warmly, his head being filled with nothing but pure bliss. Y/N hugged back tightly, feeling just as happy as he is right now.
And just as soon as it came, the day was over and the two had to return home and sleep. But this particular night, their dreams were better than usual. And two days later, the snow had cleared up and the ground was dry! That meant Y/N could go train today! Unfortunately, with her absent-mindedness, she forgot she wanted Hanzo to watch her so she remained in private as she kicked thicc ass trees down in two strong kicks and crushed stones into bits by simply punching it once.
"Hai...ya!" She called out as she forcefully brought her first to a stone celler that was abandoned randomly in the woods. But hey, no one was using it, so who's gonna cry about it being broken? The impact of her punch brought a giant circular impact onto the wall, and bits and pieces of it fell down. "Hehehe! 22 more to go!" She thought out loud as she pulled her fist back again. She wasn't alone in these woods, no, as there was a particular ninja/samurai person thing, idk, watching from the nearby bush. Not to be creepy of course! He was on his way to his dojo but heard noises, and discovered it was her after checking it out.
And d a m n. If Y/N saw his shocked face the first time he saw her punch the wall with that much force and endurance, she would laugh and tease him about it for a long time. He didn't expect her to be so quick in her movements and to cause such force. Like, a short little bebe in a pink, cutesy kimono with cherry blossoms being able to cause a fucking massacre to the wall? How could you blame him?
"Hmm... that reminds me!" Y/N exclaimed as she spun around to look at Hanzo. "I told you that you should watch me train! Is that what you were doing?"
Hanzo blushed heavily and was unfortunately incapable of hiding it in the direct daylight. "Indeed, Y/N. This is truly a wonderful sight to see," he replied as he looked away for a moment. Y/N gasped and ran towards him. He took a few steps back when he noticed how close she gotten, which caused him to get a little bit more flustered.
"You're sick? You're face is all red, Y/N whined as she pulled Hanzo closer. "You should be inside, mister, getting better! Not out here watching me fight when it's colder out here! Let's go bring you inside," he said as she grabbed his muscular arm and held it close. She turned towards the village of the Shirai Ryu and began walking towards it, pulling Hanzo along. How bold.
Hanzo but his bottom lightly and remained as flustered as before. "There really is no need, Y/N," he replied back.
"You're being quite irresponsible for a ninja, y'know," Y/N replied as she continued to walk him home. Hanzo sighed and just let her pull him along. He knew she would question him if he told her he wasn't sick so he choose into except it.
"Thank you for your concern," he replied lowly. Y/N giggled proudly and nodded.
"The best for you!" They arrived to the pathways of the village and began their walk. There was a few pedestrians walking by, including a dad and daughter and a separate woman. "I'll make you some tea and you can go to bed, okay?" Hanzo nodded, smirking to himself about how funny the situation really is.
"How caring," Hanzo spoke as they arrived at his home. The got inside and took their shoes off at the front door.
"Of course," she replied before heading towards the kitchen to make tea. Hanzo wasn't sick but he's been tired lately and what's wrong with sleeping in for one day? When he got the tea, it no doubt tasted way too bitter as Y/N doesn't really know what she's doing to be honest. But hey, it's the thought that counts.
Hanzo lied in bed, with an empty cup by his side and an small girl on the other. She sat on the bed, talking to him quietly about a bunch of random things until she said something strange. "To be honest, I know this is weird, but it almost feels like we're married sometimes. I mean, we're together all the time and have a very close friendship. You let me drag you in here and give you bitter tea even though you didn't want to. That's really nice, hehe," she giggled as she looked over at Hanzo. Her eyes shun something different from simply joy this time. Instead, it showed rather care. And potentially something more.
Hanzo felt a shiver go down his spine as he looked deep into Y/N's eyes. Emhe had to examine them to ensure that he wasn't just crazy or actually sick, but no, it looked like she really did care about him more than a friend. After all these months, it was officially, wasn't it? It was mutual. Hanzo smiled as he sat up on the bed. Y/N's cheeks lit up a little bit as he stared down at her with that look.
"Sometimes it really does feel like that, does it not? I can see as a good pair to be truthful. What about you?" Hanzo asked softly. Y/N cheeks flushed pink and her expression softened.
"I agree, definitely. I mean, how can I not, heh heh. You've been there from the very beginning and I've always seen you as this big, strong teddy bear of sorta. So sweet, so nice, so caring," she replied. Hanzo leaned in, making Y/N want to lean in too. And slowly, the pair came together and finally...they kissed. It was soft, tender, and it felt like it was meant to happen. Y/N's face turned red and Hanzo's tense emotions he felt disappeared immediately.
Heh, you know what? To be honest, they lady next door was known to be crazy about losing her baby girl a very long time ago. They had matching necklaces that were bought from a village far away from their's years ago when the Shirai Ryu was attacked by Quan Chi's forces. She escaped and went into hiding, and then found a man to marry to. Her child was named Y/N L/N, and whether she's not fully Japanese or fully related into the Japanese clan, she is blood and therefore she is capable of being the love of Hanzo Hisashi. Maybe the two of them will meet some day, huh?
“Well, well, look what the cat dragged in.” Dabi’s deep voice called out as his long legs started to carry him towards you. You were frozen in place, fists clenched. You weren’t sure if it was fear or shock, but either way, your feet were planted to the ground, keeping you in place. His footsteps got closer, and you could only muster up the courage to look into his almost electric blue eyes. He smirked, reaching his hand out to your face. You flinched, turning your head away, but he grabbed your chin and forced you to look at him once again. “Poor little kitten, already terrified before the fun even begins? What a pathetic hero you are.”
“Dabi, we don’t have time for this. Since she’s here, the pros are probably on their way. We have to move. Get rid of her and come on.” A harsh tone hurried him, but Dabi just raised his free hand to hush the other villain, keeping your chin in his grasp with the other. His eyes dropped down to your shirt, something seeming to catch his eye as his eyebrow raised.
“You know, Kurogiri, she could be useful.” He leaned in close, eyes scanning your face before locking gazes with you again. “What do you say, doll face? Wanna help us? Or do you wanna die and take all of your friends with you?” He chuckled before grabbing your wrist tightly, spinning you around and clasping his hand over your lips to keep you quiet before you even had a chance to speak. He dragged you towards the warp gate that had been made, his breath heavy with excitement in your ear.
Your stomach twisted with nausea as your body was transported to what you assumed was their headquarters. Dabi sat you on the couch in the corner of the room, unbuckling his white belt. You watched with wide eyes as he just stared you down, the belt slapping lightly against each loop it slowly passed through.
“Don’t worry, it’s just to keep you quiet, kitten.” He chuckled as he squatted down in front of you, wrapping his belt around your face, effectively turning it into a gag. You just watched as he looked over you, something dark taking over his eyes. “You look pretty with my belt in your mouth.” He tucked some hair behind your ear, and you flinched away. A growl bubbled up his throat, his hand finding its way around your neck. “Don’t fight me, baby doll, you’ll lose.”
“Dabi! You mind explaining why there’s a hero in our hideout?” A blue haired man, covered in hands appeared. You looked over, your heart dropping. You knew exactly who this was. You had seen the aftermath of his trials, almost completely destroying Kamino. You also knew that he had cut off the arms of the Yakuza leader of Shie Hassaikai, Overhaul.
“Shiggy, don’t worry so much.” Dabi spun around on his heels, his back now facing you as Shigaraki kept his exposed red eyes on you. “She overheard Kurogiri and I talking about our plans. I could have killed her, but then we wouldn’t have the leverage we need.”
“Leverage?” Shigaraki tore his eyes away from you, looking at Dabi with a glare that sent a shiver down your spine. “We don’t need leverage, Dabi, we already have a plan. Don’t forget your place in our organization.” As he spoke, he started towards you. “If you won’t get rid of her, I will.” His hand reached out to you, your squirms quickly becoming desperate scrambles for escape. You knew his quirk, and you could feel the fatality of his touch as he got closer.
“Don’t, no one touches her except me.” His voice got deeper, as if the other man had taken something that was his. He changed his tone almost immediately, his dark eyes lighting back up as quickly as they had dimmed before. “Shigaraki, trust me on this. She goes to UA, look at her uniform.” They both took a glance, and that seemed to interest the red eyed man. “We could use her, get inside information.” You made a noise in protest, trying to argue with them. You could never betray your friends and the teachers you held so dear to you. You shook your head, glaring at the men towering over you. Dabi sighed, working the belt off of your face.
“Be nice, kitten, or we’ll have to use this belt for something else.” He sent a smirk your way before putting his belt back on, Shigaraki shaking his head and sighing.
“Are you sure this is a plan to get intel and not some weird sexual fantasy you have?” Dabi looked over at his colleague, rolling his eyes lazily.
“I’m not helping you.” You tried to project your voice, remembering what your mentors had taught you before. You always had to at least seem brave, even if you’re terrified. Dabi hummed, crossing his arms.
“I don’t think you understand the position you’ve been put in.” He crouched down in front of you, his black painted nails resting on his bent knees. “See, you have a way in to get the information we’ve been trying to get for a while.” His hand ran up your thigh, making you jump. He looked up at your face, holding back the smug smile he wanted to let free. “And we have the power to make sure that everyone you’ve ever loved and cared about dies in a horrible, burning, decaying death.” His hand continued up your body, the surprisingly soft skin of his palm tracing up your arm. “What do you say, sweetheart? We have a deal?” His hand stopped at your shoulder, his fingertips digging into the skin hard enough to make you wince. You shook your head, keeping your chin high.
“There’s no way in hell I’m gonna be a mole for the League of Villains. I’d rather die than help you.” His brows furrowed, anger taking over his features. His hand, in one swift motion, grabbed your throat and squeezed with an impressive amount of force. He stood just as quickly, your body being pulled up with him. His face was suddenly uncomfortably close to yours, his warm pants moving your hair with every breath. Your eyes widened, pure fear numbing your body. You started struggling to breathe, choking gasps the only thing you could muster.
“Let me make this perfectly clear. You’re gonna help us, you know why?” He smiled wickedly, the look in your eyes making him feel more powerful than he had in a long time. “Because if you don’t, I will make sure that everyone you know dies. I’ll even make you watch as they burn to death. So, are you absolutely sure about your answer? You can change it now and I’ll let go.” You could feel your head spin, black starting to slowly take over your vision. You tried to pull his large hand off of your throat, but to no avail. You knew you needed to answer soon unless you wanted to pass out with them around. You nodded, wheezing out that you would help.
You were let go of, your body immediately crashing against the ground. You took a few deep breaths, coughing in between as your vision slowly returned to normal. You looked up at Dabi, your breath still a little shaky. As hard as you tried, you couldn’t stop your hands from trembling. Of all the years you had patrolled and even fought against strong villains, this one had you terrified. You heard a low chuckle vibrate his throat as he took a short stride towards you. He crouched down again, leaning in so his nose was less than an inch away and his insanely bright eyes were boring deep into your soul.
“Aww, what’s wrong, kitten? You scared of me?” He smirked deviously as he straightened his back, helping you up and lifting your chin so the gaze you two shared never strayed. “Don’t get scared now. We’re just getting started, baby.”
———
You had gotten back to the dorms around eleven at night. You felt as if your brain had been deep fried as you stumbled through your door. You weren’t really sure where you were going, but your body seemed to know exactly where to go. After a few minutes of aimlessly wandering, you found yourself in front of your ex boyfriend’s, Katsuki’s door. You knocked gently, hoping he was awake. You heard cluttering before the door opened, Bakugou squinting at you.
“Y/N/N? Where the hell have you been? You know you aren’t supposed to be out after curfew, idiot.” He blinked, rubbing his eyes before taking your appearance in again. He then got a worried look, opening the door wider. “C-Come in, hurry before someone sees you.” He helped you inside, sitting you down on the edge of the bed as he searched for spare clothes for you to wear. Luckily you left some of your own from a few months ago when you two had broken up and you “moved out” of his room. He handed you your clothes, turning away so you could change.
Once you were done, he tucked you in to the bed, wrapping his toned arm around you. “You don’t have to talk, Y/N. Just don’t tell anyone I let you sleep in here.” You nodded, closing your eyes as you instinctively cuddled into him. Your body was shaking as the events from the day replayed in your head. The plan they had told you to follow was almost impossible to keep a secret. But you didn’t want to think about it even more than you already knew you would. For now, you just wanted to sleep in Katsuki’s arms. You had no idea it would be the safest you would feel for a long time.
Soft music played from the kitchen and curiously, still half asleep with a bed head, Hoseok popped his head in to see what was going on.
It was a sight he never knew would ever make him fall more in love with you; making pancakes with hair tied into a pretty messy bun in your pretty white nightgown Yoongi once gifted you. It hugged your frame perfectly, silk, short, small straps, lying just against your thighs. Your head shook from side to side lightly to the beat of the music, soft hums escaping from you.
He never knew he'd ever witness you being awake before any of the guys. It happened once in a while, rarely, but only when you've had a good night's rest. Yet he knew you hadn't gotten your full hours of sleep but there you were, a soft expression resting on your face as you continued making breakfast without noticing him leaning beside the doorway leading into the kitchen.
Hoseok could still remember every moment of the night before filled with soft giggles, soft whines, soft embraces, and soft kisses. You fell asleep peacefully in his arms, snuggling up close to him and he swore he caught you purring. Luckily Taehyung got all of it on camera for the memories they'd never want to forget.
He was left waking up beside Yoongi and Seokjin, you nowhere to be seen on the bed. He called your name a few times and when there were no responses except the whines from Yoongi wanting more sleep, he stood up, put on a white t-shirt, before going on for his short expedition to find you. It was the first morning of the honeymoon, surely you'd want to sleep in some more, right? Weren't you exhausted from the night before?
As if on cue, a cute kitten's yawn escaped out of you and Hoseok silently cooed.
"The things I do for them," you giggled to yourself afterwards and finally Hoseok decided to make his appearance clear to you.
He stalked up behind you, letting his arms pull you into a sweet back hug (and you gave out a cute squeak) where he propped his chin upon your shoulder, nuzzling his head against your neck.
He breathed in. "Smells sweet."
You grinned excitedly. "I know right? The pancakes are going to taste so delicious and-"
"I wasn't talking about the pancakes, although they smell sweet too, but nothing can smell sweeter than you, my lovely wife."
Your heart soared and a short moment of silence passed, confusing Hoseok because he knew by then you should have stuttered your way out of trying to cope with his sweet talks like you always did. But when Hoseok looked up, he found a beaming sun glowing right in front of his eyes instead.
"You look like you're about to explode," Hoseok chuckled lightly as he pinched a cheek of yours, still unsure of the reasoning behind your smile.
"Doesn't it sound nice?" You asked him, turning your body fully to face him. "Hm? My handsome hubby?"
Hubby.
A curse left his lips almost breathlessly. "We really did that, huh?"
You squealed and he couldn't help but laugh aloud at how cute you were. "It's been what? Four? Five months? Since you've all proposed to me on Christmas."
"It really has, hasn't it?" Hoseok chuckled as he let his arms wrap around you to pull you in close, his body naturally allowing the both of you to sway to the soft sound of music that was still playing.
He could still remember the process that led up to the proposal.
࿐ ᶠ ˡ ᵃ ˢ ʰ ᵇ ᵃ ᶜ ᵏ
"Let's get married," Jimin said and they all looked up from the papers that laid in front of them on the long desk of the meeting room. Hoseok blinked and for a moment and Taehyung was about to give a silly remark but they could all see the serious gaze Jimin held, something he didn't often have when talking about other things besides being in his business mode. Only when he was truly serious about a certain topic.
"Married?" Namjoon repeated.
"We promised each other," the younger male reminded them all, "since we were kids, we promised each other that if we didn't find someone else to love, we'd end up marrying each other. Who would have thought the seven of us would actually end up together?"
It was a silly little promise they made during one of the very few sleepovers they had in the earlier years. They were playing truth or dare, something Jungkook had proposed he wanted to do, and with Yoongi asking them all whether they had anyone they loved and them responding with no's, Jimin pulled up a ridiculous dare for them to bet on, a promise of them marrying each other in the end if nothing worked out with their partners in the future.
Seokjin laughed but agreed and Hoseok placed his hand in just for the fun of it. Jungkook and Taehyung saw it as a competition so of course they weren't going to miss out, and the last two just shrugged it off as something that'll probably never happen but placed their hands in anyways.
Jimin was right, no one had saw the big relationship coming, not especially for Jungkook to confess one night when he was crying after Namjoon said he was about to leave to study in the states. A cute heartfelt confession with lots of tears and flushed cheeks, his bunny eyes looking at Namjoon with hands that held onto the man tightly, begging him to not leave because he had been his first crush.
Namjoon, one who cried only rarely, had a few tears slipping from his eyes and pulled the maknae into his arms, telling him that he felt the same.
Their relationship didn't last long, not before Jimin joined and then the rest of them came along on the ride, a relationship meant to last until the longest time because they knew and loved each other for the longest. It was the only spark they've actually felt, contrary to previous relationships with the ones before them, the first time something actually felt right.
Jimin reminded them almost every moment he could remember about the promises they made to each other that one beautiful night. It was something he had never forgotten because he was so in love and happy. He never missed a time to remind them, not until a few years prior to where they were now.
"And...Y/N?" Hoseok queried.
As if on cue, the door to the meeting room opened slightly with a light knock and in you came with a pretty floral blouse and white pencil skirt, beautiful as always.
"Just a reminder, Mr. Park, you have a meeting with the Yoon Corporation's executive leaders in half an hour and I have the meeting agenda here if..you'd..." You trailed off the second your eyes looked up and scanned the room, noticing every one of them looking at you with a serious gaze and Hoseok could see you visibly tense up.
Poor Y/N who knew nothing of what they were thinking about. But then again, it was good that you didn't.
"What...what's wrong?" You stuttered, voice small with the loss of confidence.
You always hated when they made you feel little in that sense.
"Nothing, baby," Jimin was first to say with a small smile. "I'll see you in a few minutes, okay?"
Your smile was a little lopsided but nonetheless nodded as you bid your goodbyes and left without another word. They wanted to say something more, Hoseok knew, to soothe your little worries but he also knew that the sudden proposition was placing them in a sudden overwhelming situation. A good overwhelming situation.
"She deserves a proposal," Yoongi said with his eyes still remaining on the door where you left just minutes ago.
"So..." Jimin trailed off, smiling, "we agree?"
"I agree," Hoseok mirrored the same excitement and the rest were quick to follow.
࿐ ᴱ ᴺ ᴰ  ᴼ ᶠ  ᶠ ᴸ ᴬ ˢ ᴴ ᴮ ᴬ ᶜ ᴷ
"Hoseok, you distracted me!" You chided at the man, quick to leave his arms as you picked up the spacula again with a distressed groan the moment you flipped over a pancake only to find it clearly burnt. "Look at what you've done."
"Me?" Hoseok laughed in disbelief while you dumped the burnt pancake into the garbage can. "It's my fault you forgot you were cooking?"
"Yes!" You reiterated as you poured another batch of pancake mix into the pan. "I'm trying to make as plenty of pancakes as I can before the rest of you wake up because today's a special day and I don't wanna ruin any part of our honeymoon, especially on our first day."
Hoseok cooed. "Aww, you pretty little thing. So you decided to wake up bright and early just to make us breakfast?"
"Why else?" You mumbled through a cute pout. "You know I cherish my sleep but you also have to know that I love you all more than anything."
You were so, so precious.
"I love you more," Hoseok challenged and you were quick to hold the spatula right up at him with a playful glare while he flinched back just as playful, both hands in the air.
"You can't love me more than I love you."
"Watch me," he dared and almost instantly, you were swept off on your feet and a squeal quickly left your lips as you laughed along while Hoseok spun you about.
"Hoseok, you—oomph.!" He held you steady in his strong arms, leaning up to kiss you right then and there while you tried your best not to let the spatula slip away from your fingers. The kiss was searing and hot like the passionate man he was but to have it so early in the morning while you were trying to cook, you lightly tapped him with your wrist, trying to get him to relent because you still had to cook before the others woke up.
"What's the matter?" The man let you go with a swipe of his tongue on his upper lip, smirking. "Too intense for you? Can't take anymore after last night?"
You frowned at him to show your displeasure but it only turned out into a pout with a beautiful blush Hoseok could recognize almost instantly. "I'm trying to be romantic here and you're ruining my moment." He laughed aloud, only to inject a whine out of you. "Why can't you just let me spoil you guys for one morning? It isn't even for a day because I know you'd never let me go that far but I've been spoiled enough from the moment we started dating and it's making me upset."
"Baby Y/N-ie's upset?" He feigned a cute teasing pout. "Haven't we told you plenty of times already? As long as you're with us — which will be for the rest of your life because we've already declared our vows, by the way — you're going to be spoiled until death takes us apart." With the pout still resting on your face, Hoseok couldn't resist and let out a sigh as he placed you back onto the floor. "Fine, just this one time."
You jumped with joy the instant that came out of his lips. "I love you, thank you! But..!" You gave him a pointed look with a finger hovered just below his nose. "I still hate you because you ruined my surprise for yourself."
"Hate me?" A dramatic gasp left him. "You can never, baby."
You giggled. "Fine, you're right. But I'm still upset with you."
"Hey listen, I think you're going to be even more upset and this time it really isn't my fault just because I'm too charming for you to resist but," he placed a quick peck on your lips before moving on to stroll out of the kitchen, "your pancake's burning."
You gasped immediately. "Hoseok!"
The only thing you could hear was his laugh fading away.
.
.
"What are you wearing?"
"A..swimsuit?"
"No," Seokjin decided as he grabbed your wrist to drag you right back into the vacation home.
"What? But Seokjin—"
"If you think me and the guys are going to let you walk around out there in that swimming suit of yours, think again darling."
Your lips pouted as he opened the door to the bedroom before letting your hand go. "Do I look that bad?" You asked him as you stood in front of the closed door while looking down at yourself, suddenly feeling self conscious.
He could immediately tell what that voice indicated and the man was quick to hold your shoulders together, walking you over towards the bed to have you sitting on the edge. He gave you a pointed look while you sat there refusing to meet his gaze with a sad frown. "The exact opposite of that is the reason why I will not allow you to step a foot outside." Seokjin's voice was deep, maybe deeper than the sea, and to hear him say such possessive words made you feel some type of way.
"Do you not understand? Hm?" He prompted with a raised brow before letting his eyes fall. A hand rested right on your stomach and chills were quick to fall. "I don't want anyone else seeing this pretty tummy." It rose, hovering up and along your breast before brushing lightly on your collarbones. "Your pretty chest, your pretty collarbones." He held your chin, rose it for you to meet his sharp gaze.
"The pretty face that accompanies this pretty body. And above all, I don't want them approaching you and finding out not only is your body pretty but your heart is too. Guys can be animals, some do not respect women, and many will go after the pretty vulnerable ones who hates violence, ones who can't stand up for themselves not because they're weak but because they're too kind to say no."
"I-I can say no," you tried to reject.
But his brow raised. "You've learned to say no to us, darling, you haven't learned to say no to your friends nor strangers," he reminded you.
You let out a little huff as you pushed him back just slightly so that you could breathe again. "I'm a married woman, no one will come up to me."
"Married or not, pretty is pretty and no man will want an opportunity to miss that."
You groaned. "I'm not you, okay? I don't attract attention that easily and have everyone looking my way just by walking around. I won't get—"
Suddenly you were pushed down against the mattress with full force and Seokjin hovering above you, his body supported by the two arms that stood trapping you from both sides. "Why can't you see that you're the most beautiful woman in the world?" He asked, so frustrated it almost came out into a whine. "Do you know how many guys we have to glare down whenever we're walking beside you? You're so freaking oblivious because you're always in your own little world and—"
"Exactly."
"What?"
You rolled your eyes before sighing as you looked back up at him with a serious gaze. "I'm in love, Jin, I don't care about anyone else watching me from a distance. I'm so oblivious because the only ones I see are you and the other six, who cares about those other men? They can flirt all they want, you know I won't react to them like I'd react to you. Sometimes it gets scary and I'll always want one of you by my side but you don't have to be so jealous, my love, I chose you and I love you, not them. I'm yours, I belong to you and you're mine. We're married and there's no way anyone can ever break us apart now."
Sometimes he wondered how you got the courage to say such endearing words he loved so much. When you first began dating, feelings were a little more held back on your side because you didn't know how to show your love. Your first relationship didn't teach you anything and your previous one left a scar that had you overthinking everything because you were afraid they'd leave you if you ever did something they didn't like.
But truth was, there was nothing you could have done to make them leave you. You were naturally a kindhearted woman, they knew even before the dating phase, and you've always put forth your best efforts to work hard each and everyday, even on days when you were sick but refused to stay in bed.
You'd worry about the slightest things they'd pay no mind to, your insecurities being a big role that kept you back from saying the things you wanted.
And what he hated the most was when hoarding your feelings became too overwhelming and tears would fall from your eyes. Like the first time they saw you cry when someone touched you but you had been too afraid to speak up, or the second time when you went to Namjoon about the jealousies that ran around the whole building.
࿐ ᶠ ˡ ᵃ ˢ ʰ ᵇ ᵃ ᶜ ᵏ
Seokjin fired his secretary but did it in an orderly manner even though he did wanted to act like Jimin for once and just fired people right on the spot without giving them a pep talk. Jimin was definitely not happy about the situation, none of them were, but the man was more willing to fire anyone that had so much as glared your way. Namjoon had to calm him into going about things in a rational way.
They watched you closer ever since you spoke up, kept an eye on you at all times in case someone were to mess with you. And if they were too busy to watch over you, they'd have someone else doing the job and reporting to them whether someone had said anything to you or about you.
Things were looking much brighter, you looked happier, and the company was back to being a hardworking environment without the envious situation thrown into the mix.
But there was still one little problem.
You stood next to Seokjin wearing pretty black trousers with a pretty white blouse while your hair was up in a pretty ponytail. Jimin had asked you to be Seokjin's acting secretary for the night since the older man needed one and he had already fired his a few days prior. He didn't thought much of it when some lady approached him to spark up a conversation, only noticing a few minutes later with the way you stood there, hands fidgeting with the sleeves of your blouse and fixing your hair every three seconds.
You didn't feel comfortable but didn't leave his side because you took orders seriously since Seokjin himself asked you not to stray from him.
He held on a small tight smile, not liking the way the lady had begun to stray away from business talks and opted with a less formal conversation. But he couldn't just stop the conversation mid-sentence, it would be rude. Yet the second she tilted her head back from a soft laughter and lightly hit him on the shoulder, his small smile began to fade.
Sure she wasn't that bad looking but she wasn't you. Not as gorgeous as you who didn't need to wear a dress to impress because you were already pretty without it. Not as sweet, not as kind. He didn't like her laugh. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't like yours, not like the way your sweet laughter would immediately light up his heart.
But then again, it was probably because he was in love with you and not her.
"Care to go out for a cup of coffee some day?" She asked him.
Years before, even before he understood what love was, he would admire the bold ones that approached him and got straight to the point. He wasn't too keen on being the one who chased after someone, he liked being chased instead.
The guys wasn't much of a task to chase after, he had not much of a need to chase after them at all. It was more of a childhood to lovers story. After Jungkook confessed to Namjoon, it was then that got him to realize being chased after the ones he didn't care too much about wasn't his style. It began to annoy him a little. But Seokjin was still a stubborn man who refused to chase after any of the guys, instead playing the hard to get card while they all trailed after him, rolling their eyes because he liked playing with them.
It was until you showed up did he realized what chasing meant.
You were so shy, a cute worker, quiet and soft, got scared easily but could never get mad at anything or anyone. You'd stutter your words whenever you'd talk to any of the higher ups (aka them), and he found himself curious as to what kind of person you were and what went on in that little head of yours.
It was a bit of a surprise when Yoongi deemed he fell in love at first sight all of a sudden but it did sparked more curiosity in the man.
Seokjin liked talking to you whenever he got the chance. He loved the way your cheeks were so easy to turn into rose pink, loved your soft voice, and got a little frustrated you weren't part of the group of ladies that showed love and admiration for him.
But your focus and hard work was something that made him fall more for you, made him realize he was the one chasing this time rather than being the one to be chased after.
And he liked it.
"Actually.." Seokjin took ahold of your fidgeting hand without any hesitation and while you began to panic, worried for the onlookers and the lady in front of you, he held your clasped hands up in full view, surprising both you and everyone else that looked your way. "I will be occupied until the day she decides to leave me." He paused, turning to look at you with a confident grin while you stood there, eyes silently asking him what he was doing but Seokjin paid no mind. "Which I hope will never happen, my love."
My love.
Seokjin wasn't one to declare his feelings out into the public, he liked to keep things private and hidden behind closed doors. But with the way you kept looking down on yourself and the previous events beforehand, he knew validating your feelings was so much more important.
"Shall we go?"
It wasn't a question, it was a declaration. And before you could protest or say anything, the man whisked you away.
"Seokjin?" You called upon his name the moment the two of you were alone and he turned around, prompting you to go on. You let go of his hand to hug yourself before speaking again and he frowned at the way your eyes refused to look at him. "H-How'd you know?" You asked him in a small voice.
With a small sigh that left his lips, Seokjin took a step forward to wrap his arms around your smaller figure, letting his chin rest atop your head. "It's kind of my job as a boyfriend to understand the feelings of my girlfriend, don't you think?" You kept quiet. "No matter how many ladies approach me, approaches any of us, just remember that we are yours and yours alone. There's no need to worry, baby, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon...ever."
࿐ ᴱ ᴺ ᴰ  ᴼ ᶠ  ᶠ ᴸ ᴬ ˢ ᴴ ᴮ ᴬ ᶜ ᴷ
"Why are you like this?"
You cocked your head just slightly, brows a little creased in confusion and he groaned again because you looked so adorable. "What do you mean?"
"I'm supposed to be mad at you, Y/N, you can't just be perfect all the time and think you can get away just by saying sweet words to me because guess what? I fall for it every time!"
"But I mean it!"
"Exactly!"
Dramatically, he clutched his chest and fell beside you, letting you have your moment of disbelief laughter because of the sudden change of heart.
Smiling, you leaned up against him to snuggle close. "I like this."
"What?"
"Being in love," you sighed.
"Yeah," he chuckled, agreeing before the sudden ding from both your phones alerted the two of you that the other six were waiting outside on the beach.
"I almost forgot we were going to see the dolphins today." You gasped, letting out an excited squeal as you hopped off the bed but not before Seokjin grabbed your wrist so that you couldn't leave the bedroom.
"Just because I'm no longer upset does not mean I'm letting you go out like that."
"But Jin, they—"
"I'll tell them you're being a brat and us being late won't be the only reason they'll be upset."
You huffed. "Fine."
.
.
࿐ ᶠ ˡ ᵃ ˢ ʰ ᵇ ᵃ ᶜ ᵏ
No matter how long time had passed since you've joined their relationship, Taehyung could never not fall in love with you more and more as each day passed.
You laid in bed, the last one left to wake up as always when it came to mornings, hair sprawled almost all over, your right hand laid on your chest while your left laid on your side. That morning, however, was a little more special.
After all, the day before they had just discussed wanting to get married and propose to you.
Taehyung took your left hand into his, playing with it for a moment as he examined each finger with gentle touches, kissing each fingertip before holding your hand out palm to palm and giggling at how much smaller your hand was compared to his. He had the largest ones after all, while yours came in last, smaller than Jimin's cute fingers.
You groaned softly in your sleep, squeezing his hand just slightly and he smiled, pressing a soft kiss against your lips. "Shh, it's okay. Sleep some more, baby, you don't have to wake up just yet," he said in soft whispers and as if hearing what he had just said, you turned your body just slightly to relax in your sleep again.
He chuckled at the sight before leaving one last kiss on your head and walking out the bedroom shirtless and feeling happy for what he had just done.
"I got it!" He announced to the group as he walked into the kitchen and was greeted by the smell of coffee and eggs.
They looked up at his arrival, chuckling when they saw Taehyung holding out a string that was curled into a circle. A string that he had apparently wrapped around your ring finger just minutes before to get your ring size.
"That'll work," Yoongi shrugged as he took a sip of his coffee.
"It'll have to work," Taehyung said, plopping himself on a chair next to Jimin, "I can't just ask Y/N what her ring size is without being discreet, it'll ruin everything."
Jimin chuckled while ruffling his soulmate's head. "Good job. We knew you'd come up with something creative."
"She's still asleep?" Seokjin asked and Taehyung nodded. He looked up at the clock that indicating the time being eight in the morning. "Someone should wake her up soon, breakfast is almost ready," he said, the scrambled eggs in the pan almost done and ready to serve.
As if on cue, small little stomps made their way down to the kitchen and in you came still in your pajamas, hair cutely ruffled while a hand rubbed at your sleepy eyes and they almost melted in sight.
"You can't do that." Your voice came out whiny and croaky and oh so adorable, a cute pout adoring your face. "You know I don't like waking up alone in bed," you reminded them, a little grumpy and still clearly tired.
Gosh you were so adorable.
Jungkook chuckled lightly as he walked up to you to pull you in more towards the kitchen, a hand ruffling your head and making it more messy. "Sorry baby, you woke up a little sooner than expected."
"One moment Taehyung was whispering something and then the next no one was there."
"I know, I know," the maknae cooed as he held you in his arms, swaying your bodies from side to side and placing little peppering kisses all over your face. "We're sorry, okay? It won't happen again."
You were so spoiled but they wouldn't have it any other way.
You giggled at the feeling of his lips and tried to push him away but along with how sleepy you still were and the fact that Jungkook would always be much stronger than you, you couldn't escape the tickling sensation.
"You're so sappy," you whined cutely, wiggling in his arms.
"You love it," Jungkook said as he let you go running over to where Namjoon stood, almost stumbling into him because you were still half asleep.
"Oof, I'm sorry Joonie," you quickly said while wrapping your arms around him and looking up at him with adorable eyes.
The man chuckled as he leaned in to greet you with a morning kiss. "It's okay baby."
"Baby," you repeated the word, sighing as if awestruck with a brilliant smile lifted upon your face. "I love you," you told him like a small child and he allowed you to snuggle up against him.
"My baby koala," Namjoon cooed.
Even if he was on his honeymoon, Namjoon could never truly stay away from work. Not only because he was the big boss but also because he was a workaholic who often found himself handling the portion of the burdens that needed at least one of them to stay connected to their business. And he wasn't going to let anyone else do the work though you guys did chime in from time to time whenever possible.
Namjoon liked working independently.
But sometimes it could get a little tiring and for that, he always found you tumbling towards his way wherever he was at the right times.
Your tinier self would walk into his study room at the vacation home, sometimes half asleep or just plain tired, sometimes fully awake and ready to help, asking him whether he needed a helping hand or not. And whether Namjoon would say yes or no, you'd remain by his side either way.
He found both your tired and fully awake side adoring, liking the small surprises you'd greet him with each day.
When you were awake and ready to help at any time, he knew that would be the right time to let you help him out even with the smallest things. You liked helping him after all, always finding something to do because he knew you wouldn't leave unless you did something to help ease his burdens.
And on times when you were tired from whatever you had been doing, he'd allow you to just crawl into his lap, legs rested at both side of his body, head leaning to rest against his chest as he worked independently, happy for your comforting presence.
"Y/N."
"Mhm?" You answered him, voice a tired hum.
"Were you with the maknaes?"
You nodded at his question, groaning slightly as you leaned up to rest your cheek against his shoulder, having it squished right there. "Jungkookie and Jiminie tried to push me into the pool while I was all clothed and I asked Tae to help but he was just laughing so now I'm a little upset at them," you informed him while huffing.
Namjoon chuckled. "They like to play around."
"I was trying to read," you complained in a whiny tone. "And it was coming to the exciting part too!"
"You can go get your book and read it here if you'd like."
"No it's okay," you said, snuggling in closer and placing a few little pecks against his neck. "I like it here, don't wanna move."
"Okay," he smiled, fingers still typing away, multitasking as he both spoke to you and did his work. "Stay here for as long as you'd like, baby."
You giggled, nodding.
You were drunk on sleep again and it's become a similar pattern that whenever you were like that, the one thing they often found you talking is about how you loved their eyes, eyes that (in your words) glowed of a thousand starlights.
"The stars are pretty."
"The stars aren't even up, Y/N," Hoseok laughed. "It's barely dusk."
"I'm talking about your eyes!" You frowned, pouting for a moment before smiling all over again. "I'm so lucky you know," you said, head on the desk in front of you, looking at them with a smile so whipped. It was a late afternoon where they had all gathered, the meeting long over and you couldn't keep yourself awake for longer. After all, you had been up all night the night before with no rest in between and they felt bad. But watching you like that was cute. You were always cute.
"Stars are pretty, I've always liked stars ever since I was little," you told them and hearing that, they listened in closer, grinning at the mention of your childhood self that must've been even cuter than you were now. "But mom couldn't bring me to the, um...what's that place called?" Your brows furrowed, losing your words and they giggled. "The aquarium? No, that's where the fishes are, what are you talking about, Y/N?" You grunted, the word not coming to you. "You know, there's a place where you can see the stars outside of Earth but it's indoors. Ugh, why can't I remember?"
"A planetarium?" Taehyung guessed and you exclaimed.
"Yes, that's it!" You were too endearing like that. "So mom couldn't bring to me the planetarium so I asked her to bring me stargazing instead but she was always so busy with work she never had time for me. Which was why I snuck out of the house one day."
Yoongi raised a brow. "A good girl like you actually snuck out?"
Just to see the stars.
What a cute little girl.
"It was fun!" You remembered. "But it was also scary because I was alone so I didn't really have time to look at the stars for long. Mom never found out though," you giggled proudly.
"Still wish to see them?" Seokjin asked you.
"It's okay, I already see them everyday," you told him. "The stars are all in your eyes and it's so much more pretty like this," you giggled again and their hearts swayed.
How lucky they were to receive a love so pure.
Still, it would have been nice to let you see the real stars that laid up in the sky, brightening up the night with its lovely glow.
And then, they thought of it. That empty room towards the attic, glass walls and ceilings that allowed you to see whatever was outside, lying right under the stars with nothing to block its view.
It was the perfect place and you deserved something perfect.
"Y/N, are you still here?"
"Mhm," you hummed at Jungkook's call while his eyes were still glued on the large screen in front of him, sat on a gaming chair with a console in his hold, headphones on and a curse muttered under his breath for a quick second.
"For what, baby? Why aren't you sleeping yet?" He asked you, continuing on to game. You couldn't really blame him. After all, if it wasn't for the honeymoon, Jungkook wouldn't have much time to game just as he'd like it.
"Because you aren't sleeping," you pointed out.
"Aww," he cooed, a smirk curled at the corner of his lips, "does baby not want to leave me alone?"
You nodded but then remembered he couldn't see you and answered with a yawn. "Yeah."
"I'll be done in a few, okay?" He promised and you nodded again, letting him be.
But the game lagged on and you were growing more and more tired.
"Guk," you called his name after fifteen more minutes had pass, tugging at his sleeve. "It's getting late."
"Just one more round, baby."
You groaned and shamelessly slid your body under his arms to plop yourself right on top of him (to which he easily allowed you) while resting your head on his shoulder. "Come on," you whined.
"Okay, okay," he said, letting the headphone fall off on one ear with a light chuckle. "Just let me die first." He let himself end the game faster than what he wanted at first but with you there, straddling him and being a whiny tired baby, Jungkook's love and focus was shifted.
"Done?" You asked after he took off his headphone and placed his console down.
"Yeah baby," he chuckled again, allowing you to lean back just enough to meet his eyes with a tired smile. "You're cute, you know that?" He said, pressing two kisses on your lips. "Come on, the hyungs are probably wondering where we are."
With not much effort, Jungkook picked you up easily to lead you back to the bedroom where the rest of your husbands were.
"There you are, I was just about to come get you," Namjoon greeted the second the two of you arrived to the room.
"Sorry, she was waiting up for me," Jungkook said sheepishly as he greeted him back with a kiss. The others were already asleep with Namjoon kept up catching up with some work so he was the only one left to wait up for you and Jungkook.
"Babygirl's tired," he noted. "But we'll have to wake up early to catch our flight."
You whined at that. "Don't wanna leave."
"I know, baby, I know."
If only the honeymoon could last a little longer but as long as they had each other, there was nothing more Namjoon could ever ask for.
.
.
Light pink suit on with a white shirt tucked under and white pumps and your hair up in a ponytail, Jimin studied you carefully as you went over the meeting schedule for the busy day again. Your brows were slightly creased with a firm serious expression resting on your face, a few small baby hairs sticky out just slightly from having to run around that morning, and although he wanted to smile and praise you for how quickly you were to get right back on track despite whining for some extra sleep when you had to wake up, he held his blank demeanor as he stood there, waiting for you to finish.
Luckily for Jimin he could multitask. Luckily he could both focus on your words and study you in however way he wanted.
Because although his eyes stayed on your face looking as if there was nothing else but work occupying his thoughts, his head also swarmed with thoughts of you and how he wished the vacation hadn't ended so soon.
"Have you compiled the reports that I've asked of you?"
"I will have them ready the minute I return to my desk, sir."
"Good." He nodded, satisfied. "And the phone calls?"
"Already done, sir."
"There's an event coming up in a a few days."
"I got their phone call this morning and ran over there. Everything is organized and just needs a few more last minutes touches before the final day but besides that, there isn't any problems that needs to be dealt with."
"The meeting."
"I have the meeting agenda here if you'd like to look over them," you said, handing him your neatly organized notebook to which he quickly took to look over.
"And my coffee?"
"Ah."
Jimin looked up, raising a brow. Perfect as you were with everything, sometimes you did forget to do a thing or too. You were human after all, maybe a little better than most, but still human.
"Forgive me, I'll get right to it, sir."
"Go on." You hesitated and before he could ask what was wrong, you went on to walk up to him to the tie that wrapped against his collar, your soft perfume hitting his nose.
"It was a little crooked," you told him and the corner of Jimin's lips curled up just slightly enough to be playful as he leaned in for a quick steal of your lips.
"Thank you, honey." You giggled, losing the professionalism for a moment and he smiled at the sight. "Have you checked your messages?"
"No, I haven't. Why?"
"Jin hyung texted, demanding for some attention," he informed as he held out your phone that he stole an hour prior.
Seeing the screen lit up with text messages from the eldest, you chuckled in response. "I guess he'll be whiny if I don't give him what he wants, huh?"
"Can't blame him," he shrugged. "You're around me almost every part of the day while the rest of them sometimes only gets to see you before and after work." Your phone went off again, silently vibrating against his palm for just a moment. "It's Yoongi."
"We've got a meeting in half an hour, can I quickly check in on them afterwards?" You asked and Jimin nodded with no protests, giving you a soft kiss on your lips.
"Don't let them distract you though."
"Of course not," you giggled.
"Did you know that when a male penguin falls in love with a female penguin, he searches the entire beach just to find the perfect pebble to present to her?"
"Oh my gosh," you gasped, almost squealing at how cute it was as you began to imagine a scenario of cute penguins in love with each other. "How adorable!"
"Isn't it?" Taehyung bubbled from the other line of your phone call just as you had taken a right turn as you drove.
"Why do you know this?" You wondered with a soft laugh.
"I think back in primary school," he said.
"And it hadn't slipped your mind."
"Mmn." He laughed. "I remember it then, I used to have a crush on the teacher that told me this fact and I thought, you know, that she was hinting on the fact that I should go and find the perfect pebble for her because she liked me back. But turns out poor little Tae Tae was just dreaming in a delusional reality because she already had a boyfriend."
"Oof," you giggled, "how did poor little Tae Tae react?"
"He went to little Jimin and they cried together because little Jimin always hated seeing his soulmate cry."
"You guys are so cute!"
"You're not jealous?"
You chuckled. "Why would I be?"
"Because!" Taehyung exaggerated almost as if offended you weren't jealous of his story. "I learned that fact from another woman and I'll probably never forget her because it was that memorable."
"Tae, we're married. I'm your first and hopefully last wife so how are you ever going to forget me?"
"Oh crap, you're right." You laughed. "Wait, what do you mean hopefully you'll be my last wife as well? Are you doubting my love for you?"
His comments were amusing and you shook your head, smiling at how cute your husband was. "Hmm..I wonder," you teased.
"I'm telling you!" he declared, "No matter what happens, we're never letting you go so you better be prepared for what we have to offer."
"I was prepared the day I accepted your proposals," you told him and a look to your ring finger was enough to send butterflies your way.
You looked up again towards the road in front of you. There weren't many cars passing through, just about one or two but they were both going the opposite way of you. You hit your signal to make a right turn, pressing onto the breaks to slow down yet the pace of the car never did as you expected it to be and you frowned. You pressed the breaks again, and then again, and your heart began to race as your eyes widened with fear.
"Ooh you're smoother than I thought you'd ever be. You're catching on pretty well." The light tone in Taehyung's voice was the one thing that reminded you that there was still hope in the world, that one of the six of them had just been on the other line of your call and you bit your lower lip.
"T-Tae." Your voice came out more shaky than you expected, scared for your life.
"Yeah?" He replied casually, not realizing what you sort of situation you were in just yet.
"The breaks isn't working," you breathed.
"What?"
"The breaks, Tae, it isn't working, I can't slow down!"
With your voice growing louder and tears escaping your eyes as your heart raced rapidly against your chest, Taehyung's heart stopped.
"Taehyung please, I..-" you choked, "what do I do?"
"Where are you?" He immediately asked. "Just stay calm for me okay, baby? Take deep breaths and-"
"I'm going to hang up."
"No." His heart began beating fast as he stood up abruptly. "No baby no, don't do that. Don't-"
"I love you," was the last thing he heard before the line was cut off and Taehyung flew out the doors to his office, legs running faster than ever before with his fingers punching against his phone to try and call you again.
He had no time to remember to warn the rest about what had just happened, mind with only thoughts of you and how he could get to you on time.
Hot tears fell from his eyes, blocking his views while he continued wiping them away so that he could see properly on where he was driving. A hard knot constricted his throat, making it hard to breath as his heart ached and his stomach contracted into a tight ball.
Taehyung was panicking, knuckles white from gripping onto the steering wheel way too tight and cars beeped at him for going way too fast but he couldn't care any less about anyone else when you, his baby, his wife, one of seven reasons why he continued to wake up every day, was out there somewhere alone and isolated with nowhere near help.
'I love you,' your voice echoed into his head and he shook his head vehemently.
No, no. It couldn't. It couldn't be. He couldn't even say it to you, to let you know that he loved you too and that—
No.
Taehyung took a deep breath though it was so hard. He couldn't let himself think that way, if he did then it would mean...it would mean you wouldn't return to the seven of—
And that was when he remembered.
Seven.
Right, seven.
He still hadn't informed them and they out of anyone else should know what was going on as well. Who cared about the company at the moment? You were in trouble for goodness sake.
"Hel-"
"Y/N's in danger." He took no time to waste, taking a harsh turn that made the tires squeal in turn but he couldn't care.
"What do you mean Y/N's in danger?" Hoseok's brows furrowed, confused by the bitter taste in Taehyung's tone.
"Forget about going to that stupid meeting you have in less than ten minutes, Y/N's breaks stopped working on her way back here and now I can't get ahold of her and she's probably all alone out there with no one to help because that rode is away from the cities and isolated." He spat out a curse. "Hyung, I'm trying to get to her as soon as possible."
Normally Taehyung would never be so rude as to call Hoseok's meetings stupid but he was too worried and afraid for your life and at that point, none of them cared about his words lacking respect.
"I'll tell the rest and try to get ahold of her, just try to get there as soon as possible."
"What do you think I'm doing?"
It was harsh but understandable. "Taehyung."
"What?"
"Be careful," Hoseok warned, feet already taking him away from the meeting room and leaving his assistant to blink in confusion. "I'm not going to lose you in an accident because of your careless driving."
"Hyung, what if," he cursed again, "what if Y/N-"
"I'm going to end this call right now and inform the rest but you are not allowed to think that way, do you hear me?"
"I..-" Taehyung took a deep shaky breath, running his forearm against his eyes for the hundredths time. "Okay," he said, sniffling. "Okay."
"Okay?"
"Okay."
The call ended and in less than ten minutes, he was on the familiar road of where you were when you called him, head stretching out to search for someone, anyone. A car, your car. Whatever sign that told him that you were alright, that you were safe.
But he hated how he couldn't see anything.
There were no cars that drove by, a street not many frequented and he wondered where in the world you were. Were you safe? How were you safe if there weren't any drivers driving by and could have coincidentally stumble upon you? They could have phoned the police, the ambulance, anything.
But he heard no sirens, no distress cry that warned him a wreck was nearby.
Neither was his phone called by any paramedics as he had been the last person you were on the phone with.
He could only hope, hope that you would be okay. Even if that meant you'd end up in the hospital, even if it meant you'd get hurt. He could only pray that everything would turn out alright.
And then, he saw it.
A body sat on the side of the road opposite of him.
Your body.
You.
He hit the breaks as soon as he was close enough and ran out the door as if his own life depended on it.
"Y/N!"
You looked up at his call, tears falling and falling from your precious cheeks and his heart shattered even more at the state you were in but he ran to you, crouched down, and pulled you into a tight hug while his own tears continued escaping from his eyes.
You were safe.
Safe.
In his arms.
Crying and scratched with your clothes a bit dirty but safe.
So, so, safe. Safer than he could ever imagine.
"I love you, I love you, I love you," Taehyung repeated over and over again, words he never got to say before you hung up on him in the middle of the crisis and his heart had ached before you never did get to hear those words when you were alone and had no one else but yourself to rely on. "I love you so much."
The images of your body having to be wheeled into the emergency room fell from his mind as he held you close, crying yet hushing you gently as you cried inherent words against his chest, hands holding onto his blazer with a grip tighter than his because you could have lost your own life.
"It's okay, baby, I'm here now. I'm here."
He let you go just a little to have a look at how badly the incident had caused. Your white blouse were ripped from the sleeves, dirty, with signs of scratches that you had probably dived yourself out of the car just in time before it could crash and stop itself against a tree. The scratches fell down to your legs and when he touched your left foot, you winced in pain, tearing up all over again.
"Does it hurt?" He worried. "I'm so sorry. Help is coming soon, Hoseok should have called. They're on their way too so there's nothing to worry about right now. You're going to be alright, Y/N, we'll get you fixed up. They're just little scratches, you'll be better in no time. Anything else beyond that, we'll figure out a way to make it right again, you don't have to worry about a thing, my love."
"M-my car.." Crashed and ruined. Even if it could be repaired again, Taehyung wasn't going to let you ride in the one thing that could remind you of all of this.
"We'll get you a new one," he vowed but you shook your head, not wanting that from them.
"My phone..-" Probably lost and damaged in the wreck.
"We'll get you a new one," he repeated and you shook your head again.
"T-Taehyung...I was so scared," you sobbed and he pulled you in against him again, holding your head, rubbing soothing patterns, and giving you a soft kiss there.
"I know, baby, I know. It's okay now." Truth was Taehyung was way too terrified to imagine what had happened after you hung up on him but he wasn't going to tell you that. You needed the comforting more than anything and he vowed to be the bigger person as Hoseok was for him. "I'm right here, baby, I love you."
"I love you."
Barely a month into the marriage and he almost lost you but it was your body that he could feel as he held onto you with a secure hold, a promise of tomorrow, that kept him sane. It was when Hoseok held onto him later that night when he woke up unable to rest, crying against his husband's chest in the bathroom, that kept him alive.
You were alive.
Awake the next day, pressing a soft kiss against his forehead with a whisper of a soft thank you because he had gotten there before anyone else, had been the one to inform the rest. Because if it wasn't for him, who would have known how long it'd taken before they found out where you were and what had happened.
It was him that you thought of, reminding yourself that Taehyung knew, that Taehyung would run over in no time, and that you were going to be alright.
Because Taehyung knew.
So he leaned up to press a sweet and gentle kiss against your lips, careful not to hurt you, afraid you'd shatter like a fragile glass in his hold, and silently thanking the angels that had kept you safe.
.
.
"Y/N is that you?"
You turned around to come into a halt as your eyes widened at the sight in front of you, heart suddenly doing something you weren't quite fond of. "C-Chan..." You breathed, surprised by how much the years had changed him. "Wow, hello."
Years before your heart would have broken at just the sight of him alone and you wouldn't be able to face him without tearing up but now? Now that you've found seven lovers who promised to cherish and love you for the rest of your life? Your heart ached slightly but it wasn't anything that had to do with missing him as a lover. He was your childhood friend after all. And if you missed him, then it'd be as a friend who fell apart after what had happened.
"It's been years." He sighed at the sight of you, smiling softly as he studied you for a moment. Autumn had come, winter being so close by so you were beginning to wear thicker clothes as the seasons began to grow colder each passing year, a pretty white capelet coat with white furs surrounding its collar and sleeves, making you look so soft. You changed, you looked more beautiful but still had on that lovely smile that he always remembered back when the two of you were children. "How have you been?"
"I've been great!" You said with a bright smile and it almost made him falter to see you look so happy like that, moving onto a life without him in it.
"That's wonderful, Y/N," he chuckled. "You look a little too fancy for someone out casually grocery shopping."
"Do I?" You laughed, looking down at yourself. Ever since you've began dating your seven princes, they've done nothing but spoiled you rotten and clothes were definitely not an exception. You loved the coat though, a Christmas gift given one year from Taehyung.
"Listen..." Chan began to trail off and you watched how he bit his lower lip, looking a little too nervous.
You knew what was coming and quickly shut him down. "It's fine, Chan," you said almost too quick for his liking.
He looked up again, blinking. "What?"
"Whatever happened between us is all in the past."
"The past...right..."
He looked like he wanted something more, regret and guilt shown in his eyes and maybe if he was a few years earlier, you would have easily gave in but he wasn't. The years had long passed and you were completely over him, love given for others whom have stolen your heart.
Just as he was about to say something else, someone interrupted the two of you as your grocery bags were snatched right out of your hands, causing you to look back and find Yoongi frowning.
"What did I tell you about calling me over so that I can carry these things for you? You're not allowed to carry anything except your purse, Y/N, your hands should be free of heavy things," he scolded the second you met eyes.
You shook your head lightly, smiling because they were always like that even though what you had been carrying wasn't heavy at all.
But they always refused to let you give them excuses.
"Um..who's this?"
"Oh!" You almost forgot Chan was still there. "Um, Chan, this is Yoongi," you turned back around, introducing with an awkward smile, "my husband of two years."
Chan's eyes widened at your words and the mood grew uncomfortable all of a sudden, being stuck between a previous lover and one of your current lover.
"And who's he?" Yoongi asked, voice monotoned as he raised a brow, not completely liking the fact that your sentences were informal as if you knew the guy.
"Ah, my um..childhood friend."
"Oh." An uncomfortable silence passed for a moment before Yoongi let out a scoff, knowing exactly what you meant. Seokjin told them about your two previous lovers, the two both leaving you heartbroken in the end and now seeing him in person, Yoongi wasn't going to make sure the meeting would last for much longer. So he handed over a few bags from his right hand on over to his left and took your hand, clasping it tightly. "Anyways, we're busy so goodbye," he said bluntly and turned around, dragging you away with him.
You panicked for a moment, turning around and waving at your speechless childhood friend. "Um, b-bye! It was nice seeing you!"
"Nice my ass," Yoongi muttered, scoffing bitterly.
"Hey, be nice," you chided softly after turning back and the two of you walked on towards his car.
"You really want me to treat your exes with grace and kindness?" He raised a brow, asking curtly.
Your lips pressed together into a small pout. "I...I don't know," you shrugged, unsure because yes, he did hurt you, but he was also your friend before the whole relationship happened. "He sounded nicer," you said ruefully.
Yoongi rolled his eyes as he took out his keys to press the button that unlocked the car and opened the trunk. "Oh please, didn't you catch his eyes? The man totally wanted you back," he huffed, shutting the trunk close after putting the bags in.
"That's why I specifically told him that you were my husband," you told him, allowing him to open the door for you before getting in, "To make sure he knew I was completely over him."
"Still." A sigh left him as he leaned against his car, a pout resting on his lips.
"Don't be too mean," you laughed.
"Mean?" He raised a brow. "Imagine the maknaes were with you instead, or Jin hyung," he said. "They'd be all over you if they knew that was the childhood friend, showing affection out in the open where everyone else can see that you're clearly are taken, making that Chan even more envious."
"Ah," you bit your lower lip, "I guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right. But just because I'm not too into that pda crap," Yoongi said, head leaning in close to where his forehead met yours and your face began to flush, "doesn't mean I don't like claiming what's meant to be mine."
"Y-you.." you stammered, "you don't have to. He's already long gone and I'm long over him." A kiss to your lips and your cheeks reddened some more. "Yoongi there are people-"
"Being a husband is nice," he smirked. "If I were to still be your boyfriend, I don't think that would have shut him down so easily, he would have seen me as just a competition." Another kiss, a little longer, a little softer. "Good job though," he patted your head, "for telling him that I was your husband right away."
One last kiss, softer and gentler and sweeter, before he pulled away and closed your door, smirking with a light chuckling as he watched you from the window, sat in your seat with your face all flushed because he had just done that out in the open.
"Can we have our wedding in Spring? And outdoors? I want an outdoor wedding in Spring. It'll be warm by then and the flowers will have bloomed and everything will be so pretty. Oh but," you paused, pouting as you realized something and they all look on over at you, wondering what was wrong. "Spring is so close and I've heard that wedding preparations can take quite a while to perfect everything. We're all so busy, I highly doubt we can get it all done that easily and then Spring will come to an end."
You sighed, letting yourself sit in front of your vanity as you took out a brush to run through your hair. "We can always have a Summer wedding," you said. "Or whenever preparations gets done," you shrugged not caring much for the date anymore as you met Namjoon's eyes from the mirror.
He walked on over with a soft smile on his face, resting his hands atop your shoulders and squeezing it lightly. "Whatever you want, baby, we'll get it done."
You made a face. "This isn't just my wedding, you know, you're in it too," you said, turning your chair around so that you could face him and look up with a pointed look, "I can't get married without my grooms."
"Of course not," he chuckled, pinching your cheeks gently. "We'll split up a few tasks, tackle this together. With the eight of us plus a few help, it won't take that long. We're used to big events and deadlines and so are you."
"And this is our event so it's even more important and special," Hoseok said nodding.
"Aren't you forgetting the fact that we're all so busy with the company already?"
Seokjin chuckled. "Since when have we let that stop us?"
"Don't think about the details just yet, Y/N," Jungkook told you. "If you want a Spring wedding then we'll make your dream come true."
You pouted. "But what about what you guys want?"
Taehyung smiled as he took your chin to let your lips meet his in a soft assuring kiss. "We're fine with whatever. Honestly."
"You sure?"
"Mhm," Yoongi nodded. "I'm just honestly looking forward to seeing you in a wedding dress," he admitted and you blushed just thinking about it.
"I can't wait," you breathed, smiling as you met all their gazes. "I love you so much."
.
"How was the cake tasting?"
"They were all so good," you whined when Jimin brought it up after you walked into his office to hand him the reports. You, Taehyung and Jungkook had gone to choose the cakes that morning and it was safe to say that you were all stuffed by the time it was all over. "Everything was sweet and pretty, I don't know what I'm gonna tell the wedding cake designer when we meet," you said, frowning.
"She's an expert," he reminded you, "she'll know what to design in the end after giving it a few ideas."
"I think I gained some weight after eating cakes all morning," you pouted, looking down at your tummy with a huff. "How am I gonna fit a wedding dress now?"
Jimin chuckled at your cuteness and stood up from his desk to walk around it and over to you, hands both tucked behind your waist as he pulled you in close. "Gain as much weight as you want, I don't care," he vowed sincerely with a smirk curling at his lips, "We'll still love you all the same."
You giggled, smiling into the kiss that he gave you. "Kookie said he's gonna go and burn some calories in the gym after work," you informed. "I planned on going with him and Taehyung but maybe I'll skip out."
"Good job," he smiled. "Do whatever you want, as long as you're happy."
"Should the cake be grand?" You asked. "Layered?"
"Of course," Jimin nodded. "The bigger the better."
"You okay?"
"Hm?" You looked up towards the door where Seokjin walked into the bedroom just as you had gotten done changing into your nightgown. A confused glance was made his way as you wondered what he meant by that and why his brows were a little furrowed as he walked your way, settling himself onto the large bed.
"Yoongi told us what happened this afternoon," he said. "You met him again."
Him.
"Oh." You shook your head, laughing lightly as Seokjin held an arm out for you to sit onto his lap, accepting it without a word. "There's no need to mention him anymore," you told him. "It's all in the past."
"I just thought, you know," Seokjin shrugged, "since you looked a little upset the last time you spoke about him. How he left you scarred."
Your heart melted at how considerate he was for you so you leaned in to place a soft kiss on his cheek. "I promise you, I am beyond over that. I've got you guys now, what more do I need?"
He chuckled, not able to stop himself from kissing you. "Good," he sighed. "I don't want any other man occupying your thoughts."
"Don't worry," you grinned, "they're all claimed by the seven of you."
"Y/N? Why are you awake?"
At first Jungkook had woken up with the idea of needing to use the restroom but then he found you nowhere in bed and saw a silhouette outside the balcony doors. So when he opened it and found you resting your forearm against it, a warm cardigan hung over your shoulders as you looked up at the stars, he could only wonder what had gone wrong.
You weren't one to usually wake up in the middle of the night just to watch the stars. Sure your love for the stars were big but you loved your extra hours of sleep more than that.
"Something wrong?" He asked as he walked in further after you turned your head around and remained silent. Jungkook wrapped his arms around you from behind, feeling your body colder than it should have been. "You're freezing, baby," he shivered. "What's wrong, hm? Tell my what's wrong, baby."
There was a clear sign that he had recently woken up, voice groggy and tired yet Jungkook was clear on not heading back to bed unless he made sure you were alright again.
"I can't sleep," you told him, leaning back against him to welcome his cozy warmth. "I had a nightmare."
"Mhm," he pressed his nose into your neck, trying to warm more of your cold body, "want to talk about it?"
"No," you shivered as a chilly night breeze passed by though he could probably guess it was one of the few nights where you'd dream of the accident all over again. They had come around less and less as the months passed but that didn't mean you could ever forget. "Wanna sleep," you pouted.
"Then come on," Jungkook said, beginning to tug you along back into the bedroom.
"But the nightmares." Even as you whined, you still followed his steps back in, feeling too sleepy to remain stubborn especially when the night breeze was too chilly to handle.
So you let him pull you back into bed where the two of you laid in between Seokjin and Yoongi.
"It's okay," Jungkook whispered as softly as possible, "I'll fight the bad dreams off for you."
You snickered in a gentle tone. "And how will you do that?"
"By singing you to sleep."
A smile was quick to light up your face at his suggestion and without any hesitation, you let Jungkook hold you against him, lying onto his chest and having you listen to his heartbeat. Not long after the two of you settled into each other's warmth, Jungkook's soft voice was whispered into the night as he sang a lullaby for you.
Listening to his heartbeat on one side while your other ear was blessed with his voice, you fell back to sleep sooner than you thought you would.
"Y/N, it's three am, what are you doing up so early and..." Namjoon blinked though his eyes were still clear with drowsiness accompanied by a cute bed head, "..cooking...?"
You giggled as he walked further into the kitchen, greeting his tired self with a ruffle on his head as he let out a cute yawn. "I couldn't sleep," you told him. "I woke up and tried to go back to sleep but I was too awake and energized to dream again."
"So you decided to make pancakes."
"Yup," you nodded, exaggerating the last sound with a pop. "Doesn't it smell nice?"
He didn't answer but you were far too excited on your own to worry about it so you returned to the pan to flip two pancakes. There was soft upbeat music in the background and Namjoon shook his head, chuckling at the sight of his wife up so early in the morning flipping pancakes with nothing but an oversized grey hoodie that belonged to Jungkook.
You were quite the sight, pretty and adorable.
He walked up to you, wrapping his arms around you from behind and allowed you to sway the both of you from side to side while you hummed to the beat of the music.
"Hey, if you're going to have a party, you can't just not wake us up."
The two of you turned around to find Hoseok walking in followed by Jimin who let out a grumpy huff with hands stuffed inside the pocket of his hoodie.
"It's not a party," you insisted, "it's a late night snack I'm having."
"Even worse!" Hoseok pouted with a whine and you and Namjoon giggled.
"You can join if you want," you invited with a cute grin plastered on your face. For moments before, Jimin wanted to scold you for waking up so early just for that but who could get mad at such a sweet face?
"You're lucky you're cute," he said huffingly and your head tilted back, colliding with Namjoon's shoulder as you laughed. "What are you doing up anyways?"
"Y/N here can't fall asleep," Namjoon informed with a ruffle of your hair.
"So you guys decided to wake us all up by being loud?"
At the new voice, the four of you all turned to watch Seokjin walking in as he pouted, a clear tired expression plastered on his face.
"I'm so sorry," you quickly said, "it was my fault, don't blame the rest. We'll be more quiet so you can head back to sleep if you can."
"And miss all of this?" He scoffed stubbornly and took his seat next to Jimin, "No way."
Hoseok laughed. "You pretend to be mad but you love us anyways."
"Doesn't make you any less annoying," the eldest retort with rolled eyes.
"Is that pancake I smell?"
"At three in the morning?"
"Heck yeah!"
Jungkook and Taehyung both filed in no sooner than later and soon the kitchen was filled with all of your husbands. All but one who was a heavy sleeper and loved his sleep just like you.
"Is everyone awake now?" Jimin asked with a yawn.
"Yoongi isn't," Jungkook replied.
"Should we wake him up?" Taehyung asked.
"I think babygirl should do it, don't you think?" Seokjin said with a small raised brow and a smirk your way. "You're the reason we woke up after all."
A hesitant blush your way with Hoseok stealing the spatula from your hand and them pushing you out of the kitchen, you were left to sigh without a protest, dragging your feet up the stairs towards your shared room.
Even though you were the one to always leave the bed later than everyone else, Yoongi could get a bit grumpy when he's woken up unexpectedly — especially on purpose when there was nothing important to wake up to.
Nothing a few kisses and cuddles couldn't fix.
So you opened the door to find Yoongi alone, looking small against the large bed that took up a lot of space in the master bedroom. A soft smile curled along your lips as you walked up to him and bent down, shaking him lightly.
"Hey, Yoongi?"
You didn't get very far.
Not before he had grabbed your arm and pulled you right into his hold where his body held you tightly.
"What?" He grunted.
"You're heavy," you whined at his body weight but still he wouldn't move.
"You love it," His voice was deep and low, tired and groggy and you were already starting to feel bad for waking him up. "Well?" He asked, urging you to go on from what you wanted to tell him. Instead of answering him, however, you remained quiet to just listen to his soft breathing, the warmth given off by him suddenly making you sleepy. "Here because you want me to join your little party downstairs?"
"How'd you know?"
"Not hard to tell," Yoongi said, "they're pretty loud."
They definitely were. The two of you could hear their complaints and booming voices and laughter all the way from the kitchen to the bedroom.
You laughed lightly and he mirrored your amusement. "Not complaining?" You asked.
"Not going to convince me?" He remarked.
"I don't know," you shrugged, moving in closer to his warmth and he allowed you without protest, "I like it here."
"They're going to know something is up if you don't return soon."
You frowned. "Are you trying to kick me out?"
"No," he chuckled in a deep tone, soft and soothing, "I'm trying to keep you to myself for a moment," he said, "just until they all come barging in and ruin this peaceful quiet time."
"Mmn," you giggled, "you're so greedy."
"So are you."
You responded with a whisper of an 'I love you' and he replied with a kiss on your forehead to say the same thing.
"Aren't you forgetting something?"
There they were. A little late, a little early. You didn't know what to mark it as but as they barged in, you and Yoongi remained holding onto each other before Taehyung excitedly jumped onto the bed and pouted.
"You love us too yet you're ditching us for more sleep?"
"Weren't you too energized to go back to sleep?"
"How dare you?"
Yoongi simply laughed while you left his arms to quickly sit up and try to defend yourself.
"No, no! I didn't mean it I promise!" You insisted. "It was just so warm and soft and Yoongi was holding onto me so tightly and I loved the feeling and..-" You met their disapproving look and your eyes fell, pouting. "I'm sorry."
"Stop it, it's not fair."
You blinked as you looked up at Jungkook. "What?"
He grabbed your face, squishing it against the palm of his hands with a cute pout of his own. "You're too cute to stay mad at!" He chided and you fell back against Yoongi as you laughed. "You can get away with anything with just this face alone, it isn't fair."
"Actually, I think it's quite a gift," you replied with a playful grin and they were upset because they couldn't actually stay upset.
"See what you've done, Jimin?" Taehyung glared at the other 95 liner, "She's caught up to us. I told you Y/N isn't the same girl we first met years ago."
"What? It's Jin hyung's fault too!"
"Hey!"
"Nah, I'd say she's still the same," Namjoon stated with a soft scoff. "Watch this."
You didn't know what he meant by that but the next thing you knew, Namjoon had caught ahold of your chin, tilting your head to meet him before soft yet passionate lips fell upon your own. A kiss that had his tongue dancing along your lower lip before it entered at your gasp and had you gripping tightly onto the sheets below you.
When he pulled away to give the both of you the breath of air you needed, you were left lightheaded and quickly fell back against Yoongi's hold to hide your blushing red face against the crook of his neck.
Chuckles escaped them at the sight and Namjoon licked his lips with a smirk. "See?"
"Cute," Seokjin commented with a grin. "Remember when we first kissed?" You whined against Yoongi and stomped your little feet in protest. "Gosh, Y/N was the cutest thing ever with her eyes so big and round and cheeks so flushed," he continued either way.
"Remember when you first came over?" Jimin added. "Or when we first shared a bed?"
"And the first time you had to stay over because the blizzard outside was too harsh?" Taehyung said.
"Guys, stop it," you whined, "I already embarrass myself enough, stop bringing the embarrassing memories back."
"Embarrassing? Y/N, they were precious," Yoongi insisted gently as he trailed his fingers along your jawline to get you to face them again. You did it with bits of hesitation and they almost melted in sight. "So, so precious," he said as he placed an assuring kiss to your temple.
"I still can't believe someone like you fell in love with us in the first place."
Your brows furrowed at Hoseok's words. "What are you talking about? You were like the most sought out men of the industry even though the relationship between the seven of you was clear from the beginning. You were so untouchable someone like me was lucky to even breath the same air as you."
He chuckled. "No, Y/N. You didn't know it then but from the first moment we saw you, something about you was different and special. You only proved to us each day with your hard work and efforts that what we saw then was not a mistake."
"So we started to observe you more as time when on," Jungkook said. "That's why Jimin and Jin both started to flirt around, eventually moving on to flirt with others to try and grab your attention."
"But you always acted so unfazed," Jimin pouted.
"That's because I had to remain professional," you remarked. "Plus how was I supposed to know you took an interest in me then?"
"That's the problem, Y/N," Namjoon sighed. "You're always stuck in this little head of yours, thinking you aren't good enough or pretty enough but you are, and you are so much more than that."
"And a little braver than we imaged you'd ever be," Taehyung smirked as he was reminded of something. "You were the one who took the initiative after all, confessing your true feelings first hand."
You blushed thinking about that moment. "I was drunk."
"On sleep," he laughed. "Still, your sleepy self was braver than any of us could ever be at that time."
"And we love you," Seokjin smiled as he leaned in to place a sweet kiss on your lips. "So much."
You returned the smile, heart fluttering. "I love—" you gasped, suddenly realizing you had forgotten something and they all gave you a confused gaze. "The pancakes!" You jumped out of bed, groaning as you slipped on your slippers. "Aw man, my late night fun time is all ruined because you guys decided to love me."
Jimin scoffed. "Did you not like that?"
You stopped yourself before you could run off towards the door and down the kitchen, feigning an innocent smile their way as you leaned up to press a quick kiss on Jimin's lips. "I love you!" You said and bounced away, leaving them to frown at your absence.
Not long after, however, their heads came popping into the kitchen, too awake to return to sleep now.
"It's gotten cold," you pouted as you turned to them, showing them the plate of pancakes that would have made the perfect early breakfast snack if they hadn't lost their heat. "I'm gonna cry."
"Really now?" Namjoon chuckled.
"We can make some more," Jungkook suggested, not liking the idea of heating them up in the microwave because microwaves scared him.
"But then these will all go to waste," you said.
"It's okay, you didn't make that much in the first place because you thought it'd just be you," Hoseok said pointing out and you nodded.
"Okay," you sighed. "Let's make another batch for the eight of us then!"
And so you got to working with a bit of help, adding in berries and chocolate, each batch with a little something different so that you could all choose whatever you wanted to eat. It was fun, being up so early in the morning with nothing to do for another hour until you had to get ready for work. Together. You and them.
Back then you'd always wonder on the thoughts of why they had chosen you, what they had seen in you in the first place. And sometimes you did find yourself going back to those thoughts.
"You know," you said as you all sat around the dinner table, "sometimes I wonder why you choose to enjoy these kinds of food when you can be enjoying those exquisite dishes that they always serve at those parties. You know, like the rich people you are?"
"It's good once in a while," Jimin said with a light shrug, "but we prefer this because it's better, it's more, it's true and it's made with love. It's made of your love. Our love."
And when Taehyung fed you a slice of the blueberry pancakes on his plate, you smiled because you understood.
You didn't have to be perfect to be loved by them (though they always insisted you were perfect), you didn't have to be the prettiest or the most hard working or whatever anyone previous had always told you. All you had to do was stay true to your heart and love them with your true heart.
It didn't have to always be pretty as long as it was you and them in the end.
A love stronger than the day before but less than the next.
With a promise of tomorrow and more tomorrows to come.
Dads For Deku-Family Bonding
“Alright Izuku, are you ready to come out?” said Gentle, knocking on Izuku’s door. La Brava was standing a little behind Gentle, staring expectedly at the door.
“Y-yeah! I’m ready!”
“Excellent, then show us what the newest member of our show will look like!” said Gentle, dramatically flourishing his arms. After all a showman must always be practicing, he never knew when the camera would turn on.
“Behold…” Izuku said. The door slammed open and Izuku leapt out, “KILLER RABBIT!” He landed on the floor and struck what seemed intended to be an intimidating pose. Seemed to being the operative term.
This wasn’t helped by his costume. It looked like a giant bunny costume. It consisted of a black jumpsuit, with elbow and knee pads, a dark green waistcoat with gray geometric highlights (how did he even get that?), a utility belt partially hidden by the coat, white gardener’s gloves, his red sneakers (throwing off the color scheme), a dark mouthpiece with a fanged grin painted on the front, and a cowl that covered his head topped by massive bunny ears. All in all, he looked ridiculous.
Gentle struggled to hold in his laughter. Beside him, he saw La Brava doing the same. He began to frantically fake-cough to get it out of his system.
“Gentle are you alright?” Izuku asked running up to him. The failed attempt at being intimidating now replaced with his regular sweet and harmless demeanor.
“Yes, yes. Just had something in my throat,” Gentle said. An idea began to form.
“Oh good. You were just coughing so hard, and it sounded so weird…”
“Hey, Izuku,” said La Brava, shuffling awkwardly, “About your name…”
“Huh? Is it bad?” Izuku said, his eyes looking like a sad puppy under his mask. La Brava stumbled slightly, so Gentle took this opportunity to jump in.
“Not at all! However I think you should drop the “Killer” part from your name. It creates a negative image for our viewers!” he said. La Brava sent him a confused look.
“Oh ok, that makes sense,” said Izuku. “Then I shall be Rabbit! And while they may have once underestimated me, seen me as something weak and helpless, the evils of this world will soon learn I am a threat to all those who harm the innocents!”
“Oh, so that’s why you went with that motif. That makes sense,” La Brava said. But when Izuku looked away she still eyed his costume skeptically.
“Now, I believe we have other things to do now. The sun is down, it is time.”
“Wait now? Tonight?! I thought I was just trying on my costume today!”
“Not to worry Izuku, you said you’ve been training in that on your own right?” said Gentle.
“…Yeah…”
“You have me and La Brava to handle the lion’s share of the work and protect you if needed right?”
“Yeah.”
“And you need to start eventually right?”
“Yeah! Ok. I’m ready to have my first outing tonight!”
“That’s the spirit!” said Gentle, who began walking to grab his disguise.
“Come on! La Brava said to Izuku as she went for her own. “You’ll do great!”
The three ran across the rooftops. Whenever they came to the edge of one, Gentle would take the lead and use his quirk to make the edge of the roof a trampoline for them. They stopped on the edge of a roof overlooking a street in a more run-down neighborhood. Gentle looked and listened for any sign of wrongdoing. He heard the sound of crying. He looked and saw a little girl sobbing in front of a tree, her cat near the top loudly meowing, stuck.
“Follow me!” He said, leaping down. After a few light bounces he and La Brava were securely on the ground. Izuku stood on the edge, staring down.
“Come on Izuku! You can do it!” said Gentle.
“We made it! Gentle made the ground soft!” said La Brava.
Izuku snapped to look at them as if he’d forgotten about them.
“Trust me,” Gentle said, “You’ll be fi-“
Izuku raised his hand in a “wait” gesture, then began scrambling down the building, using any handholds available and even dropping himself once or twice, using the parkour skills he’d shown Gentle so happily last week. Gentle felt proud. Until Izuku slipped and fell onto an awning. He rolled down and Gentle softened the ground just before Izuku landed into a roll. That did not terrify Gentle at all. Only slightly concern him.
“S-sorry, I guess I have to work on that a little more…” Izuku said. “I wanted to try getting down myself so if you’re ever not there I’ll be able to do it on my own…”
Gentle smiled, “Excellent forward thinking. And don’t be afraid to try again. As long as I’m here I’ll be ready to help catch you.”
“I am too! Even if I’m not strong. I will even use my quirk to help you if needed.” La Brava said. Love of surrogate little brothers was still love after all.
Izuku began tearing up, “Thank-OH MY GOSH THE CIVILIAN!” He leapt to his feet and began racing to the little girl with the cat in the tree. La Brava got out the camera.
Gentle tried to introduce himself, but he didn’t even make it past “I AM” before Izuku was kneeling next to the girl.
“Hi there, I’m Rabbit. Do you need some help?” said Izuku.
The girl stopped crying, turned to Izuku, and pointed, “My kitty Cupcake is in that tree and can’t get down. Are you a hero? Can you help him down? Be careful, he scratches.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll get him right down!” said Izuku. He quickly climbed the tree until he made it to the wailing cat. He carefully lifted the cat into his shoulders and climbed down. “There you go!” he said, “The cat wasn’t any trouble after all.”
“Oh good! I guess he was too scared by being up in the tree!” said the girl. Izuku smiled, until her words seemed to sink in. The rest of them picked up on it too, just as the cat began growling.
After Izuku escaped that ferocious little cretin, the girl gave him a hug, calling him her hero, thanked the rest of them. She picked up her pet monster and walked inside. The three of them ran off to their next adventure.
“I didn’t get any footage of you Gentle, but I got plenty of Izuku. It makes for a great debut!”
“Excellent work La Brava!”
“I’ve got a question though,” she glanced at Izuku, who was running ahead and upwind of them, then she continued in a tone too low for him to hear, “Why’d you let him keep that ridiculous name and costume anyway? It doesn’t even match our theme!”
“Well La Brava, that’s because I realized Izuku has a different appeal. His attempts at intimidation are so horrendous to regular people that they will endear them to him. That, his soft demeanor, and how obviously bad he is at looking “cool” will make them all love him causing our videos to, what were your words, ‘go viral for sheer dorky adorable?’”
“I guess. He will have cuteness appeal with a lot of viewers, especially younger ones” she said, “but why not tell him?”
Gentle smirked. “Because he’d never believe me. So, I’ll let his unexpected popularity be a pleasant surprise.”
They soon came across a group of muggers harassing a trio of teenagers.
“Greetings! I am the GENTLE VIGILANTE, here to make my vigilante debut!” said Gentle.
“I am his faithful butler and partner in ending your ungentlemanly behavior, La Brava!”
“And I am here to protect the innocent, underestimate me at your own risk, for I am Rabbit!”
The last one caused the criminals to break into a fit of laughter. It lasted until Rabbit punched one in the face.
After a brief fight the muggers were all subdued. Izuku seemed to be gleeful about defeating two of them quirkless, Gentle was happy to have tried out Izuku’s suggestion of carrying and rubberfying a rapier (quite good for slapping those hooligans), while La Brava struggled working the camera.
“It won’t turn on!” she said, pushing the button for the fifth time.
“That leader guy said that his quirk disables all communication and recording devices that get too close and keeps them that way for twelve hours,” said one of the teens.
“W-what?” she said, looking like she’d just been told Christmas was cancelled.
“Yeah, sorry. My phone got the same. Hope I don’t lose anything already on there.”
“But that means…” she groaned, “never mind. You guys ok?”
“Yeah! Did they hurt you? Or take anything? You know, before we showed up?” said Izuku.
“Aside from some incredibly crass comments? No.” said one of the teenagers.
“Ungentlemanly filth,” said Gentle, “No matter. You all run along, find help, and call the police. Tell them where to find these ruffians. In the meantime my associates and I will be off.” He, La Brava, and Izuku bounced away.
“That was, a fine experience. Worthy of some fine tea,” said Gentle.
“Yeah, even though we won’t have any footage aside from maybe Izuku helping the girl. Still, it was nice to do all that,” La Brava said.
“I got to be a hero. I got to save people,” Izuku said, taking off his hood and mouthpiece, “I know I’ve said it before but, thank you for taking me in Gentle. You’ve given me so much I never thought I could have.” His eyes glistened with tears.
“You’ve repaid it in full with all you’ve given us Rabbit, from your smarts and strategies, to your moral compass that lead us to becoming the vigilantes we are today. It is an honor to have you with us,” said Gentle.
“He’s right you know. You’ve helped us as much as we’ve helped you,” said La Brava.
They shared a group hug. They eventually broke off and La Brava said “With the camera shot, what are we gonna-“
They heard another scream. Izuku was already running toward it. As they neared the alley they heard it from, La Brava said to Gentle, “About your plan. With Izuku?”
“Yes?”
Izuku got into the alley just ahead of them and shouted, “Stop dirtbags! I am the terror that hops in the night! RABBIT!”
She smirked, “It’s totally gonna work.”
Mini-Review: Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!
I’m so glad @littlestartopaz recommended this to me, because it was SO GOOD.
Yuta wants to start high school afresh: new school far from home, new classmates who don’t know he spent middle school acting out the fantasy of being the mysterious and magic “Dark Flame Master,” new him. But one of his classmates has delusions of her own, and after she accidentally discovers his embarrassing past, Yuta is unwillingly drawn into her life and a growing circle of friends with their own quirks.
The “chunibyo” of the title basically means “8th grade syndrome;” a phase in middle school where some kids inhabit and act out their own fantasy stories, positing themselves as dark magicians, magical girls, and other wielders of magical powers.
Tumblr media
I had avoided this for a while, until it was specifically recommended to me, because honestly, it sounds embarrassing, right? It sounds like it’s gonna be an embarrassing manic pixie dream girl scenario. But what it actually contains is the story of how a mixed bag of students--some actively chunibyo, others not--become friends and develop very endearing close relationships, while arguing and frustrating each other because that’s what friends do.
Now, the idea of being the star of what’s essentially your own fantasy-action anime is embarrassing, but what’s notable is that the show doesn’t really hold the chunibyo characters up for mockery. Sure we might laugh at them, but hey--it’s funny to watch friends be silly together. And most viewers, just like some of the characters who have moved on from their chunibyo phases, probably easily understand the mix of soul-wrenching embarrassment and (mild?) fond sentiment that comes with remembering our middle school selves.
Tumblr media
But let’s be real: the reactions the two former chunibyo students, Yuta and Shinka have to being reminded of middle school, are #RELATABLE
Tumblr media
Rikka, our title chunibyo, in particular uses her fantasy in part to cope with grief, coming from an extended family that (without getting spoilery) didn’t help a young girl to deal with a very hard and life-changing time. Now that she’s in high school, her older sister blackmails Yuta (using an a voice recording of one of his chunibyo speeches) into helping deal with Rikka and things (like the cat she wants to adopt) that pop up.
Tumblr media
One thing the show is very good at, though, is not making a single thing the reason behind a character’s chunibyo. One may have started their fantasy inspired by another person, or prompted by an event, but it’s also (while active) part of their personal narrative that influences how they spent their free time, how they see the world and keep blogs or diaries, etc.
But at the same time, they’re still teenagers, and their inner view of themselves...doesn’t always translate skills.
Tumblr media
I said the show is primarily about friendship. A lot of that friendship is between Yuta and Rikka, but they accumulate a little group, mainly through Rikka’s attempt to start a magic club. Recruit 1: Kumin, a polite, quiet senpai with no chunibyo history or aspirations.
Kumin starts off seeming like a background character, but by the second season it’s clear she’s not just there for jokes about how she’ll take a nap anywhere. She’s perceptive, and genuinely enjoys watching the others act out their scenarios.
Tumblr media
Compared to the other characters who are boisterous in their chunibyo activities (Rikka, Deko, Satone), or vociferously trying not to get drawn in to chunibyo activities (Yuta, Shinka), Kumin is happy to watch and offer encouragement, but she’s also willing to participate if a chunibyo scenario calls for a group.
Tumblr media
Incidentally, the show does a really interesting thing where occasionally, we’ll be drawn “inside” the chunibyo world, seeing what Rikka/Deko/whoever see: a fantasy land, big magical weapons, anime-grade magical attacks. Occasionally we’ll also see what this “really” looks like--a couple people running around waving umbrellas at each other--but often we only get the fantasy version. It’s clear that Rikka and co. are legitimately on some level engaging in a shared imagination, and the times when a reluctant character (particularly Yuta or Shinka) willing steps in to the shared illusion are genuinely sweet.
Tumblr media
Speaking of, Shinka (aka Morisummer) became one of my favorite characters. Like Yuta, she was chunibyo (”Morisummer the magician”); like Yuta, she chose a high school where she didn’t know anyone expressly so she could reinvent herself as a normal teen. And like Yuta, she’s getting dragged kicking and screaming into chunibyo again.
It would’ve been so easy to make her a bad character. She’s pretty, puts a lot of effort into being popular and likable at school, trying to keep up a good teen girl image, despite being fairly sarcastic at her core. And as loathe as she is to admit it, she likes her friends (even if she won’t admit they’re friends, even if half of them are actively chunibyo, even if she says she’s only hanging around so she can make sure all traces of chunibyo-Morisummer are erased from the internet).
Shinka gets drawn in to the group through Rikka’s apparently only pre-existing friend: Deko, a fellow chunibyo who follows Rikka (or “Eye of the Wicked Lord Shingan”) as her master, and is extremely devoted to the great magician Morisummer. So devoted, in fact, that she has several physical copies of Morisummer’s book containing all her wisdom...aka Shinka-Morisummer’s blog, which Shinka has tried to erase all trace of.
Tumblr media
Needless to say, the two don’t seem to get along great.
Tumblr media
Deko’s dedication to chunibyo and Morisummer irks Shinka; Shinka’s claim to be Morisummer irks Deko, who refuses to believe the great magician could ever be this sarcastic, mundane girl. Deko’s refusal irks Shinka, bringing out the sarcasm and bluntness Shinka tries to hide from the school at large.
Tumblr media
Obviously, they actually become close friends, but heaven help you if you actually say so.
Tumblr media
The entire series is an exploration of relationships, and Yuta’s developing closeness with Rikka (hey, we knew it was going to happen) is also sweet. He’s a genuinely likable boy, embarrassed by the vestiges of his former self he sees in Rikka, but often willing to meet her on her level, and both of them also learn/reaffirm the importance of doing things their way, and keeping both of them comfortable, rather than acting a certain way or performing specific acts just because their classmates think their relationship status mandates it.
Speaking of classmates--and I know this is getting long but I CAN’T HELP IT, I LIKED SO MANY ASPECTS OF THIS SERIES--the characters aren’t ridiculed at school. Sure, some people think they’re weird, but there’s no shunning, no arc involving teasing or bullies. Rikka’s often content as a loner, but when she attempts to join in a social circle, she’s welcomed. Shinka’s obsessed with reinventing herself and appearing normal and seems to think that otherwise she’ll be cast out, but multiple characters mention that others at the school notice how she behaves (oddly, on occasion) and there are no social repercussions. Truly nice for a show that has characters spending quite a lot of time in school.
Tumblr media
Verdict
English dub? Yes, and it’s got strong performances. Rikka’s voice actor in particular does a fantastic job capturing the difference between chunibyo!Rikka’s confidence and command, and regular!Rikka’s, well, normal awkward teenageness. (Plus, I also found her lower-than animegirl-average voice enjoyable.) (Double plus, I honestly think her English voice is better than her original Japanese voice at showing the difference between her emotions and chunibyo/reality.) Deko’s VA is fantastic showing the enthusiasm of the 9th grader (and what enthusiasm, Deko is like the Energizer Bunny), and Shinka’s VA manages to show her alternating annoyance, cheerfully sweet ideal self, and organizized leader voices.
Visuals: Fine, and I really liked the chunibyo designs for each character’s chunibyo phase. The contrast between chunibyo-vision (giant magic weapons; mysterious lights, fantasy landscapes) and reality (an umbrella or soup ladle; a strip of lights taped to the floor; a local park) was really well done.
Worth watching? Yessss. It’s very manageable--two 12-episode seasons--and while each season contains its own arc (you could stop after the first one, but why), together they make an excellent story. Heck, I think the second season is equal to, if not better than, the first, because the friend group is well-established and even more fun to watch.
Where to watch (USA, as of October 2020): Netflix (dub, sub); Crunchyroll (sub), HIDIVE (sub & dub, plus OVAs and film)
CW: Biting, Claws, Burning, Bruises, Fighting, Restraints, Drug mention, A bunch of stuff that probably makes no sense cause no context and ~magic~
I’ve been looking at this for a while but honestly I just can’t get happy with it :’) and I need to do me german homework still
------------------
 Crow’s awaken by the sound of furniture crashing, followed by screams. He jumps to his feet, while Ferret still struggles out of his heavy sleep. Quickly, he crosses the corridor, already picturing the scene he is about to meet.
…The living room is in shambles. The furniture is scattered around. Coyote has Bunny pinned down on the floor, his claws carved into Bunny’s arms, his jaw open like an animal, drooling, with threatening sharp teeth.
“I TOLD YOU NOT TO RUN, I TOLD YOU I’D HURT YOU FUCKING BITCH” The size difference is almost comical. Bunny is slim and short, Coyote is an absolute monster of a man, even for Crow, who is quite tall himself.
“NO NO NO GET AWAY FROM MEE” He screams, kicks and struggles, face red with the useless effort, eyes bulging with terror.
…Crow steps back a bit, then launches forward over Coyote, using his weight to try and knock him off Bunny. As they both fall to the side, Bunny scrambles away and runs into the corridor.
Great… But now Coyote is over him. Larger, stronger, half a fucking animal, with sharp claws and teeth. Eyes wide, bloodshot. Fucker is high, Crow notices in the middle of the struggle.
“CROW YOUR SLUT” sounds more like a roar than a voice “HE IS MY PREY WHY DID YOU STOP ME!”
“SHUT UP YOU DOG” Crow roars back as they tumble around the room, Coyote trying to pin him down like he did to Bunny. A punch dangerously close to his face “CALM THE FUCK DOWN OR I’LL SET YOU ON FIRE YOU FUCKING FLEABAG”
…That only makes him angrier. He now tries to bite. Crow needs both his hand – and all of his strength – just to keep those teeth away from his face… This creates an opening for the dangerous, clawed hand to grab his throat.
He tries to kick. It’s not a fair fight. No one, fighting hand in hand against Coyote would be. Crow’s face starts to go purple… Eyes close, all the energy focusing on his arms. Blue flames burn all around him and with a scream of pain, Coyote releases him, hands over his burned face.
Crow gasps for air, coughing on the floor, as Coyote tries to put out the fire on his fur.
“I’LL KILL YOU CROW, I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU, YOU…”
He prepares to attack again, but is held back by two pairs of arms. Ferret and Vulture are pulling him backwards, trying to drag him into the cell at the end of the corridor. Crow’s heart shatter as he sees Ferret’s face twisted with pain, having to use the wounded leg as a support.
He gets up as soon as he can manage, pushing against Coyote again, trying to help the twins. It’s a monumental struggle, as he gets more and more agitated and violent, but eventually, the three of them push him into the room and shut the door.
…Loud bangs and roars from the inside.
The three stand in silence, absolutely out of breath, and Crow lets himself slide down the wall and sit on the floor.
“…You should send him away, Crow.” Vulture says, a stern expression on her face “…We can’t deal with this shit much more.”
Crow looks away, and pulls his legs into a hug.
“…If I report him… They’ll kill him” His voice is trembling. He hates how weak it sounds “He is… too unstable”
“…He almost killed you” She replies, there is poison on her voice “He is too unstable. That’s the whole problem.”
“They made him like that”
Crow wants to hide his face on his palms and cry. But he would never let his team see such a pathetic side to him. Not now, specially. Now he needs to be strong for their sake. He puts on the best blank face he can manage. But Ferret knows how much this disturbs him. He always knows, and the kind soft eyes rest on him.
He slides down to Crows side… Gently squeezes Crow’s arm and then lets their fingers intertwine.
“Darling… I know this is hard. But… Maybe sis is right” Ferret pushes his hair aside, to take a look at his neck. Bruises are starting to form there. Ferret gently runs his thumb over them, his face slightly twitching with anger.
Whatever he was going to say, he stops. Moth has come out of their room as well. Bunny is clutching to their arm, wide eyed.  He tries to hold them once Moth comes closer, begging them not to go, to stay with them… But Moth shakes them off, and they quickly disappear again, searching somewhere else to hide.
They join the other three on the corridor, a sad, tired face. So done with all this shit.
“…You are okay guys?” They ask.
“Yeah. I guess” Vuture says, letting her head tumble upwards.
“What are going to do now?” No one answer. What is there so say, even? They sigh. “… You received a letter today. From the Central City?”
“Yes” Crow replies, sighing. Yet another fucking problem, because that is exactly what they need now “They said they can’t relocate anyone to our sector. They are short on personal due to relocating recruits to building the hydroelectric power plant.”
What a fucking surprise, really. They take care of one of the shittiest regions of that hellhole called The City. They are there because it doesn’t matter if they die, and it doesn’t matter – too much if their sector falls down.
“If I report Coyote now…” Crow starts, but then decides not to. They all already know. First they lost their leader. Then Moth. If they got rid of Coyote, it would be just the three of them against hell on earth.
Crow sinks his head on his hands again. Tired. Very tired.
“We should get some sleep” Vulture finally says, with a sigh “It’s not even morning yet. We… We can think this through later.”
Without much of an answer, she goes back into her room. Moth does the same soon after. Crow helps Ferret get up and lean onto him, as they go back into their bedroom.
“…I’m so sorry, Fer” he says, a worried glance at his leg “Is it hurting?”
“Yeah… a bit. But it’s not your fault, dear” He smiles. Always optimistic. Always sweet. Crow smiles back, but still worried.
…And hell, it was his fucking fault. Everything that had been going on… It was always because of some of his decisions. He had so much work to do all the time now, he was barely managing. He should have gone with them on that mission, instead of trusting Coyote. Maybe then  Ferret wouldn’t have been hurt at all.
Speaking of which… Bunny is curled up on a corner of their bedroom. Small, scared, holding his knees. Crow sighs, gently running his fingers through Ferret’s face.
“…Well… Stay here on the bed a bit okay dear? I’ll get the first aid on the bathroom and patch you up again…” He looks to the corner “Both of you.”
Bunny seems to lit up at this. Slowly, he comes to the bed… And sits by Ferret’s side. All the while glancing, expecting Ferret to attack, but of course, he never did. Ferret was too good to just… Hurt someone like that, without a reason. Ferret was too good for him, Crow felt. He deserved better. Bunny even gets the courage to lean against Ferret… Who accepts it. He pulls Bunny closer.
Crow can’t help but smile a bit, as he re-makes the curative on Ferret’s legs before taking a look at Bunny. He has hand-shaped bruises around both his wrists, and claw marks running along both his arms that need to be disinfected, or he might get rabies or something.
“There you go.”
Ferret is still cuddling Bunny by this point. That’s probably what gives him courage to ask…
“Can I… Can I stay here tonight?” Pleading green eyes. Crow frowns… “Please. Just… Just tonight. I’m scared. And… and he is in my… hm, my prison-room-cell-closet-thingy so…”
“You can stay” Ferret says, then eyes at him “Right, Crow?”
“…Sure” He rolls his eyes. Whatever makes Ferret happy.
Bunny’s face lit up on a smile. It’s not something that has happened very often. Bunny jumps down to turn the lights off then climbs his way into the middle of the two men, both hugging him from each side. Lovingly. Warmly. Like they used to be.
He pretends things are okay. Just for now. Just for today.
Secret love song (Jungkook x reader) *songfic*
“They decorated the hall prettily.” Tiara, the maknae says in awe with the hall’s decoration.
“Well, it is the end year party for idols and elites. Of course they need to decorate it this pretty.” Jieun, the leader of the group explains it to our members.
We sit at a round table reserved for us. I, Kim (y/n) is a member of a 5 members girl group. I am the second youngest in the group. Our group, YUGEN is among the hottest group in this year.
As my members talk about random topic, I sit quietly poking the salad in front of me. I huff in sadness as I look around the hall. Then, my eyes see a person I try to avoid. He looks at me with a glance before continue talking to the girl in front of her. Jeon Jungkook and IU. They are laughing while I watch them in pure sadness. The wave of sadness hit me ruining my mood. I blink the tears away as I am tired of it.
You must wonder what happened between us. We dated for the past one year and a half. We were happy. When our groups’ popularity risen abruptly, the pressure of being an idol start to break us apart. Our company demanded us to break our relationship but we promise to stay strong. In the end, we failed each other.
Three months without the one you love are really a living hell. My concentration and work drop a bit. I lock myself in my room whenever we got to rest. I cried myself to sleep to continue it as soon as I wake up. My thought fill with depressing thoughts and I stop eating. I numb the pain by working out nonstop to the point I passed out one day. And from then, the others are assigned to watch after me.
“This year special event, we will choose random idol to sing one of the song in this box.” My thoughts are interrupted by the emcee. I look uninterested of it. The screen shows many idols from various camera. One by one of the cameras are shut down. I look at my phone for a moment before a round of applause fills the hall. I see everyone look at me and I look at the screen in a shock.
‘Why am I chosen?’
I walk to the stage shyly as everyone is smiling at me. A bodyguard helps me walk to the stage and I bow to the emcee.
“Congratulation Miss Kim (y/n) from YUGEN. You are chosen. Now, choose a paper in the box.” I ruffle my hand in the box for a few second. I pull out a blue paper. I give it to the emcee as everyone is looking forward to it.
“This night, we will hear Kim (y/n) cover Secret Love Song by Little Mix ft. Jason Derulo.” The emcee announces and the hall fills with applause again. I look toward my members as they cheer at me.
‘There are many songs yet I pick this.’ I fake a smile as I look at the audiences.
When you hold me in the street and you kiss me on the dance floor I wish that it could be like that Why can't it be like that 'Cause I'm yours
As I sing the intro, my eyes fall to Jungkook automatically. He gazes away from me. The memories of us that I try to forget play in my thoughts like a broken video.
We keep behind closed doors Every time I see you, I die a little more Stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls It'll never be enough
We are laying in the living room of my apartment. My head on Jungkook’s stomach while he is on his back. We are talking about our day, our childhood, our date and some random topics. Sometimes, the room is full of our laughter whenever a joke is made.
“You know we can make it out this relationship. I don’t know why but I am confident with us. Although the world will be against us because we are idols, we’ll make it through.” Jungkook says as he plays with my hair. I look into his eyes. We stare at each other in silence yet it feels so perfect. I smile at him.
“I love you.” I say to him.
“I love you too.”
It's obvious you're meant for me Every piece of you, it just fits perfectly Every second, every thought, I'm in so deep But I'll never show it on my face But we know this, we got a love that is hopeless
They say soulmate have similar traits. Others say there are opposite attractions. When I think of us, it just the perfect amount of the two, similar and opposite. It complete us in a weird way.
“Stop playing the games, you two. This is the third night this week you stay up for this.” Jin says when he sees Jungkook and I play Overwatch. We ignore him and he starts to yell at us jockingly.
“Shut up, old hyung.” Jungkook says.
“You are too noisy, appa.” I say as Jungkook and I high five each other. Jin stops and shook his head with a smile.
***
“I don’t like to work out.” I complain while watching my boyfriend work out. We have been in the gym for two hours.
“That’s why you’re fat.” He says with a smirk. I roll my eyes jokingly at him. I look at him worried. His face turns so pale.
“You need to chill for a bit. You just finish your long schedule and you go straight to work out. You will exhaust your body.”  I says as I look at him attentively searching for a sign of passing out. He ignores me and continue with his routine when he stumble suddenly. He sits while holding his head. I rush to him with a bottle. He gulps it down immediately.
“Thank you. You are my saver.” He says with his bunny smile.
“And you’ll be the death of me.”
Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that Why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours When you're with him, do you call his name Like you do when you're with me, does it feel the same? Would you leave if I was ready to settle down? Or would you play it safe and stay?
 Girl you know this, we got a love that is hopeless
Jungkook kisses me at my changing room. I push him away.
“We are at public. People will find out if you do this every time we have shows together.” I say as I look around. He chuckles and pecks my lips.
“Sorry, babe. I can’t resist you.” He smiles before walking out of the room.
***
There are rumors about my relationship with Jungkook and our companies tell us to cool down a bit. It is at one of the parties for the idols. The ballroom full of dancing humans. Suddenly, the song changes to a slow song. Someone comes to me.
“May I have this dance?” Kim Yugyeom, my childhood friend asks. I laugh at his sweet gestures as I am familiar with his crazy behavior. He offers to help me cover my relationship.
“Yes.” I take his hand and dance with him. We laugh as we are catching up with each other. I am happy to dance with him but there is still an empty feeling in my heart. I look at Jungkook’s way. He is dancing with Lisa. He looks my way and we stare at each other.
“I miss you.” He mouths at me. I smile softly.
“Me too.” I mouth back.
I remember vividly our arguments. At first, it is some lovers quarrels we usually have. After the companies tell us to break it off, the arguments start to turn aggressive and it lead to our break up. The night that haunt me in my dreams.
“Why you don’t show up like you promised?” I ask him annoyed by the fact he forgot our date. I sit on the bed facing away from him.
“I say I’m busy. We will have a tour next month. Can’t you understand? You didn’t come to our date last week. Don’t blame me.” He says while taking off his sweaty hoodie.
“I have a fan meeting. You are the one that forget about it.” I says while looking at him.
“Oh... It is my fault... You will always blame me.”
“Last time, you blame me too.”
“BECAUSE IT IS YOUR FAULT!”
“WELL, SOME OF IT YOUR FAULT BUT YOU TURN IT ON ME!”
“WHAT IS MY FAULT WHEN YOU ARE THE ONE THAT MESS UP YOUR CHOREOGRAPHY?!”
“WELL, MAYBE I CAN GET IT IF YOU LET ME PRACTICE ON THE NIGHT YOU FORCE ME TO VISIT YOUR PARENTS!”
“GOSH, I HAVE BELIEVE YOU TO BE A GOOD GIRLFRIEND FOOLISHLY!” My eyes widen as he let out the word.
“GLAD WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE!” He looks at me in disbelief.
“WE ARE DONE!”
“LIKE I CARE!”
And just like that we are not together.
Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that Why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours
I look at him as I sing the words. He walks to his members with IU by his side. His members see him and give him reassuring smile. He looks at me with a sad smile. A smile that says he regrets the way we are over.
And nobody knows I'm in love with someone's baby
I don't wanna hide us away. He mouths the lyrics with me
Tell the world about the love we making
I'm living for that day. Someday. He mouths it again as we are at the verge of tears.
Why can't I hold you in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that we could be like that Why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours, I'm yours
I sing it wholeheartedly. The sadness from our memories and the sad lyrics overwhelm me. I hit the high notes as tears fall from my eyes. He walks away from the hall. I watch in sadness.
‘This is the end.’
Oh, why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that Why can't it be like that? 'Cause I'm yours Why can't I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops I wish that it could be like that Why can't we be like that? 'Cause I'm yours
Why can't we be like that? Wish we could be like that
I look at the ground as I finish the song. The hall is in silence. Suddenly, there is a big clap and audiences whistle at me. I look at them and see some of them shed their tears.
“That is such an amazing stage from Kim (y/n). I cry a little as a sad emotion is touching my heart.” The audiences laugh at his speech. I look at my members as they smile at me with a sad smile.
I walk off the stage and being congratulate by some artists and elites. I walk to my members.
“Are you okay?” Minmin asks as she is the closest to me. I nod weakly as she hugs me.
“I know it is hard but if you and him are destined to be together I am sure there is a way.” Bora, the eldest in my group says to me. As the oldest, I always go to her to seek advises as she is so smart with her words. I look as he walk to his group and nod to her.
“Someday.”
Word count: 5k ish
Warnings: Mentions of death, nudity and sex apart from that some strong language. And I think that’s it for now..
Summary: Growing up in one of the biggest and most feared mafias has it’s perks, but what happens when you and you’re friends are suddenly shipped off to the other end of the world? Will you stay together or will the world you live in tear you all apart?
Part one / Part two / Part three
Taglist: @purpletaehyung92
Tumblr media
”Harder!” he yelled at you as you once again kicked the punching bag he so desperately tried to keep steady. The sweat was trailing down the sides of your face as tears, as you did your best to keep your breathing under control. It was hard, and he knew just how to work your body to the breaking point.
But then again if anyone could it was him, after all you’ve known each other your entire lives. And you’d been kicking hiss ass ever since the two of you shared your mother’s womb.
The door opened and through it walked your brother’s best friend and right-hand man, Jeon Jungkook. Walked might be the wrong word though, if you looked closely it almost looked like he danced down the stairs from the second floor.
When he reached the bottom, he spread his long arms and yelled: “Oh, my sweet, sweet Parks! Where have you been all morning?” Both you and Jimin looked confused at each other as your workout came to a stop.
Jimin slowly let go of the bag, as you once again stood up straight, both of you leaving the workout for a few moments as you tried to decipher just was made your friend this excited at 5:30 am.
You loosened your boxing gloves and threw them aside, revealing the tiger stripes that twisted around your left wrist and ended right below your elbow. In the meantime, Jimin had located a water bottle and threw it your way as you stepped forward towards Jungkook.
As you caught the bottle and opened it you smiled at the giant man before you and said: “Why are you yelling like a maniac Kook? And you better have a good reason to disturb our morning workout.”
You took a big gulp of water as Jimin walked towards the two of you. He shook his head at Jungkook, as he once again started to dance in front of you.
“Boy, you are completely insane” Jimin spoke as he looked at the bunny boy before him. He looked at you afterwards, and all you did was raise a brow at your twin, because to be honest what was he expecting. All Jungkook did was grin and send a sweet smile towards the two of you.
“Well my dearest friends… I come with a message from your father and beloved leader, because bitches we got in!” Out of his back pocket he pulled a black paper where the word academy was etched into it in gold, and above the words was a cold circle.
You dropped the water and pulled the paper out of Jungkook’s hands as you flipped it and started to read. Out of the corner of your eye you could see Jimin’s excited face as he started to jump, scream and dance with his friend. You could feel your heart stop and your lungs failing as you read over the golden words.
Dear Mr. Park.
We are pleased to inform you that Y/N Park, Jimin Park, Jeon Jungkook and Jung ‘J-hope’ Hoseok all has been accepted into the academy. Their classes will begin in exactly three days from now at the Puck Building in New York City. Each of your trainees must bring two suitcases of personal belongings and one weapon, so choose wisely.
See you soon
You were in complete and utter chock. The academy was the dream, only the best trainees and children of the most feared mobsters in the world got to go there. It was an honor and a privilege, it was on this school that lifelong alliances were build, and enemies were created.
Both you and the boys had never really doubted that you would get in, after all you were one of the largest mafias in all of Asia. But now the day was finally here, the dream had come true.
You took the letter and gave it back to the two boys before you ran up the stairs to get out of the practice room. You needed to talk to Hoseok, and you needed to talk to your dad.
There was no doubt in your mind that Jungkook had stolen the letter from your father’s office. But then again if you had been the one to spot the black and gold envelope, there was no way in hell you would have waited until nightfall to get the news.
It had been a tradition in your family, that the leader would host a dinner to celebrate the young men and women who had been accepted into the school. But the four of you was the best assassins, spies and most skilled in combat your gang had seen in generations. So, there was no way in hell tradition was gonna hold down the criminals inside you all.
You ran down the hall from the gym as quickly as your feet could carry you until you stumbled through the door to Hoseok’s room. Inside you found him splayed out in bed, in the arms of this week’s bimbo as Jimin called them. But then again who wouldn’t love to lay beside the legendary assassin J-hope?
You didn’t care if he had another woman in bed, you didn’t care that the two of them were most likely naked. All you cared about were sharing the best news of both of your lives with your partner in crime. So you jumped down in bed between the two of them, waking both of them up by the sudden need of air in their lungs.
You heard a yell from the women beside you as she rolled out of the bed and landed with a loud bang on the floor. All Hoseok did was grunt annoyed at you, before he pulled you close to him, inhaling the smell of your hair in the process.
“Why are you waking me up at this hour, you know I work late?” He was known for being a grumpy ass in the morning, and today was no exception. “And why the hell do you come into my bed and disturb my sleep, smelling like this?” He pulls back to look you in the eyes, and his are filled with disgust.
“Jesus Hobi, be nice! I was in the middle of practice.”
“Well if you were in the middle of your precious practice, why the fuck didn’t you finish it and let me sleep for two more hours?”
You didn’t even know how to begin, so you just looked at him with the biggest smile, as you bit your bottom lip trying to contain the laughter that threatened to spill out into the room.
On the floor beside the bed you could hear the girl slowly coming to her senses, as she pulled herself up, looking down at the woman who had pushed her out of bed before six in the morning. You knew she wouldn’t be thrilled about it, but the fact that she even got to sleep in Hoseok’s bed was impressive, he usually kicked them out after the deed was done.
“Excuse me, but what the hell do you think you’re doing?” She had a high-pitched voice, like one of those barbies in American rom-com’s and tried her best to hide her naked form behind the slight sheer cover she held up before her.
“Dana shut up will you?” he didn’t even take the time to look at the woman, you were all he saw as he tried to figure out what news could be important enough for you to bail on practice and wake him up.
You slowly looked up at the woman who towered over the two of you, and all you saw was the pout she elegantly had displayed on her face to try and win just a little sympathy from the man beside you. When that didn’t work, she tried yet another method.
“Baby if you kick her out then maybe we can go again?” you rolled your eyes, a little afraid they might get stuck back there if she kept going. But he did nothing, said nothing, he just looked at you and, in the end, she gave up, gathered her things and left the two of you alone in the room.
After an intense staring contest, he finally got out of bed to get dressed. He sat up in the bed as you rolled over to look up into the sealing, today was not the day where you needed to see his bare ass as one of the first things in the morning. You could hear the slow and lazy footsteps he took towards the two double doors that lead to his walk-in closet. A yawn escaped him as he stretched his arms above his head, to get the blood flowing in his tiered and worn out body.
“So, what news is so important that I couldn’t wait?” You could hear him go through the drawers as he spoke.
Your head was filled with both pride and joy, but the words wouldn’t get out. Instead you giggled like a crazy person.
“What is it? Why are you laughing?” The t-shirt he pulled over his head was muffling the sound of his voice, which meant it was safe for you to face him once again. You sat up and turned towards the double doors as you crossed your legs in the soft bed.
“We got in Hope…” It was almost a whisper and you continued: “We leave in three days, can you believe it? The day has finally come!” You clapped your hands as you watched him walk towards you.
“You’re kidding? Who got in? All of us?” You nodded your head and intertwined your hands with each other, squeezing with all the strength in your body. Because if this was a dream you needed to wake up now.
He sprinted towards you and tackled you back into bed as he screamed at the top oh his lungs. Your arms held him close in a hug as you both laughed. It was emotional to be the one to tell him the news.
The two of you had talked about this day since you were four and his father had brought him into the manor for the first time. Hoseok’s father was your dad’s right-hand man, and because of this you grew up together, trained together. You had shared everything together, hell he even lived in your house.
“Oh my god, this is insane! It’s completely insane! But wait… How the hell do you know?” Hoseok had a puzzled expression as once again looked into your eyes.
“Well… Jungkook might’ve been snooping around in dad’s office, and there he might’ve found the acceptance letter”
You knew how much he hated to go against your father. Dae-Hyun or Papa Park as you and Jimin sometimes called him, had opened his house to both Hoseok and his family. An act Hoseok saw as a privilege and an honor. And unlike you and Jimin, it was kind of hard to be a teenager and a rebel against the man who was not only your boss, but one of the most powerful mafia leaders in this world.
“One day that boy is gonna end up being killed for all the stunts he pulls” He shook his head at your younger friend, but the smile refused to leave his lips.
“I know… But don’t worry I’m going to find pops as soon as I’m done with you and fill him in on the situation. After all he might want to do the dinner anyways” You shrugged your shoulders a little.
“Look at you being the responsible leader Y/N!” He hit your shoulder playfully as you laughed at his statement.
“Well I might as well start to take my role seriously now. No need to wait you know?” You bit your bottom lip as you started to twirl the golden ring that was displayed on one of your fingers.
Hoseok stood up from the bed and looked down on you with loving eyes. You were the sister he’d never get, the person he’d always protect and follow blindly into any battle.
“So tell me… What do I need to pack?”
Tumblr media
After a long discussion with Hobi about just which outfits he should pack, and an even longer one with what sniper riffle he should bring to the States, you were off to see your dad.
You skipped down the corridors of the giant manor, saying hi to everyone you met on your way, until you’d finally reached your fathers office. He had an open-door policy for both you and the boys so instead of knocking you busted through the door.
He was sitting behind the giant mahogany desk, reading the reports from both spies and distributors that had been piling up in the dark hours of the night. He looked powerful in this setting. High sealings, big windows, expensive suit and of course with an expensive bottle of whiskey nearby.
He looked up from his papers for a brief moment, only to discover you were already walking towards him. He slowly laid down his pen, as he sent you a gentle smile. Infront of the desk was to leather chairs who faced him, and as usual you placed yourself in the left one.
“Hello sweet daughter, what can I do for you today?” He spoke like the man in power he was, his voice was deep and intimidating, even when he wasn’t trying to be. But then again it was a given when you were in his position.
You didn’t respond and just moved around nervously in the chair as you fiddled with the golden ring that rested on your pinkie on your left hand. Just like your tattoo it displayed your rank in the family business, as you liked to call it.
“I know what Jungkook did Y/N, there’s no need to beat around the bush” You quickly looked up from the ring, your face displaying the surprise you felt, and your heart started to beat faster as he continued his speech: “I have security and cameras everywhere in this house, you really think anything goes missing without my permission?”
He now had a smirk on his lips, and you could see the spark in his eyes. Your father was a cruel man to those who deserved it, and a stern leader to almost everyone. Except you and the boys. To you he was kind, playful at times, and almost always with a smile on his face and that incredible kind spark in his eyes. Unless you talked business of course.
You laughed before you answered him.
“I thought you might’ve figured it out by now. I hoped you hadn’t, because it would’ve been nice to be the one to surprise you for once”
He put away his reading glasses and stood up. Slowly walking to the other side of his desk as he sat down on the edge, both hands resting beside him.
“Well… One day you might be able to, but not quiet yet Blade…” His smile was as kind as always as he said your nickname. “… But judging from your smile I guess the academy had great news?”
You didn’t know it was possible to feel prouder or happier than you already were, but the feeling that slowly blossomed in your chest was nothing you’d ever felt before. You could feel the tears in your eyes as you smiled at the man you admired most in this world.
“We all got in, all four of us” Your voice cracked a little, but you did not care for a single second. The two of you had talked about this day since you’d held your first katana. And to share the good news with the man that had made you the woman you were today, meant everything to you.
He stood up from his spot and walked towards you, arms stretched open to give you the bear-hug he knew you needed. And you walked right into his arms and let the tears roam free.
“I’m so proud of you Blade, of all of you.” He whispered into your hair before he placed his hands on either side of your face and pulled you away from you, whipping your tears away with his thumbs. He placed a kiss on your forehead as you laughed a little.
You rarely showed people your emotions. It wasn’t that it was a sign of weakness, but being a girl high placed in the mafia, people would use anything to gain the upper hand in this game you called life.
You cleared your throat as he finally let go of you, looking into your happy eyes as his own filled with pride.
“I’m sorry if we ruined the dinner though”
He laughed at that statement and turned around to once again find his rightful place behind his giant desk. “Now call those boys in here I need to have a chat with you all before it all goes down tonight, because we all know you’ll be to hungover tomorrow to come if I call a meeting then”
You raised an eyebrow, your way of saying: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
“Don’t give me that look Y/N, we’ve been down that road before. That being said, you need to shower first”
You shrugged your shoulders, he wasn’t wrong.
After an amazing breakfast you went back to your room, quickly ridding yourself of your workout clothes to hop into a steaming hot shower. You stood there for a few minutes and wondered just how your life would look in a few weeks’ time.
Would you be able to create new alliances, or would it end up being impossible because you’re a woman? It was very rare that women were in powerful positions in the mafia, and even rarer that they were the first in line for the throne. And the more you thought about it the more anxious you got.
You turned on the cold water to get the negative thoughts out of your system, your way of clearing your head, at least for the time being. Once again it worked like a charm. After a good cleanse of both hair, body and mind, you left to start your morning routine.
Because this was a special day, you knew you needed a little extra than just the regular jeans and t-shirt with your hair styled in a ponytail. You put on make up for the first time in forever and dressed up in a suit.
The black flared pants hugged your body in all the right places and displayed your curves just how you liked it. The blazer that matched gave you no waist and therefore you styled it with a Gucci belt just to give it a little something extra. Besides, the gold in the two G’s matched your ring perfectly. Your hair was slicked back and your face open for the world to see the beauty of your jawline and cheekbones.
Stilettoes was something you loved dearly, but never wore. You never knew when you needed to run in your line of work, and since you were to important to just be arm candy for any man, you always wore sneakers or flats in general. But that didn’t mean you couldn’t be stylish. The red bottom Louboutin’s were therefore pulled out of the closet, today it was the loafers with black spikes that just elevated your look a little.
You looked into the mirror, pleased with the woman who looked back at you. You looked like you were in charge and knew what was going on around you, you looked like you belonged in this world that were mostly dominated by men.
Two knocks on your door pulled you out of your daydreaming. Jimin and the boys were here, and as you opened you almost had to take a step back before your feet would be wrecked as their jaws almost hit the floor before you.
The three men, your three so called besties looked you up and down, but none of them spoke. Nervous about their reaction you spun the ring around your fingers as you looked at them with a shy smile.
“What’s wrong? Do I have something in my face?” You laughed a little as you smiled wide at the three men who stood before you.
“N-no, no, no, no! Not at all you just… You look hot!” Jungkook said as he gave you a wink and licked his lip like a man starved.
“Duuuude! That’s my sister stop it!” Jimin hit his chest as he whisper yelled at him.
“I know that! But look at her, it’s not very often you get to see her dressed up a woman!” He gestured towards you with both hands.
You crossed your arms in front of your chest and shot one hip to the side, as you poked your cheek from the inside using your tongue, the very best indicator for when someone pissed you off.
“I’m sorry what?” You stared dead into the eyes of the tall man who stood before you, and if eyes could kill, Jungkook would be laying on the floor in a pool of his own blood.
Hoseok pushed the boys out of the way and down the hall.
“Stop drooling and start walking before your future boss kicks your ass in a hallway. Besides we’re already late” He pointed towards the door at the end of it that lead to your dad’s office.
As the two younger boys stumbled towards the door, he looked at you. A small but genuine smile on his lips as his eyes sparkled.
“You look breathtakingly beautiful as always Blade” He held out his left arm for you to hold onto, and you took it as you slightly shook your head at the cheesy comment.
“You’re insane”
“Oh I know, and you love me even more because of it” he wasn’t wrong.
Behind the double doors till the office you found your father and the two boys who had bolted right through them. Most likely startling him in the process. Both you and Jimin sat down in your chairs as Hoseok rested against the back of yours and Jungkook stood by the windows, looking out into the courtyard.
“I’m glad you all made it on time, this way we won’t be late for dinner” He opened a bottle of red wine and poured the liquid into a long-stemmed glass before he handed it to you. You had never liked the whiskey the same way the boys had, and therefore he always had a bottle of wine nearby for whenever the two of you had to talk business.
You thanked him as you grabbed the glass from his hands, and he continued to pour the remaining men in the room a glass of the golden liquid. And then he began his speech.
“First of all, I wanna say how proud I am of each and every one of you, you deserve this… More than any other. So, cheers to you.” He raised his glass, and you all followed his example as he continued.
“In two days’ time you’ll arrive in New York to attend the academy, and the next year will be both physically and mentally draining. When you step into those grand halls only three rules apply.” You all looked at each other with a smirk, rules never applied to you so why should it now? The response you got from him was there for a stern look, he meant business.
He continued: “and they are so basic even you four should be able to follow them. Rule number one, you are only allowed to bring one weapon. Rule number two, no killing, there will be plenty of time for that or the rest of your lives. You are allowed to fight though, but that’s it! Rule number three, you are not allowed to leave.”
You could see Jungkook’s dramatic eyeroll from where you were seated. “So they are just gonna lock us up?”
You sighed.
“You are allowed to leave the complex Jungkook, don’t be stupid” The boys laughed, and you did your best to hold back a chuckle. “You are just not allowed to leave New York unless you are given an assignment outside the city”
All that left his mouth was an almost silent grunt, as he turned around to join you all in the small circle in the middle of the room.
“So what now? Is it time for the party?” Hoseok said with hopeful eyes.
“Not quiet yet, first it’s time for the gifts” You all looked confused at each other, no one had ever said anything about getting gifts at this thing.
“Dad, what? I mean thanks I guess, but really you shouldn’t have…” Jimin started the sentence but was quickly interrupted.
“I know I shouldn’t have. But you are my children, all of you” Jungkook moved his weight from one foot to the other as he stared down into the ground, blush silently creeping over his face.
He walked away from all of you, pulling a book from the massive bookcase in the room, that opened up to the secret room that was your dads private and secret armory. He disappeared into the darkness and was back a few seconds later with a massive duffle back.
You all moved closer to peak into the bag, trying to see exactly what he was planning to surprise you with. The first thing he pulled out was a sniper riffle, or to be precise a M24. It was midnight black with golden tiger stripes clinging to the barrel. You turned your head as you looked at Hoseok, he loved that gun, and his eyes were sparkling as he slowly extended his hands out towards it.
“This is yours J-hope, you have always made me proud so don’t make me regret that I’ve officially given you, your stripes now” Your father winked at him as he handed him the riffle. Hoseok was still in awe as he traced the golden stripes with his fingers. A small thank you escaped his mouth, as he walked away from the table, still looking at the riffle as a love crazed thirteen-year-old.
“Jungkook” The boy beside your father suddenly stood a little taller.
“I know you don’t use guns and that you prefer to fight with your hands. But there’s no way in hell I’m sending you to a school full of killers and liars without a weapon.” He pulled a knife out of the bag, golden handle and once again the stripes were to be found on this one as well. He took the handle and expected it in silence.
“For you son I have two things, and don’t worry, I’ve already talked to the school and because they are a set you are allowed to bring it with you”
Jimin smirked and his eyes narrowed as he looked at your father.
“You didn’t?!”
“Oh, but I did”
He pulled out a set of nunjucks, and like the rest of the things they too were black with stripes. Clearly there had to be a point with all these matching weapons. Your brother hugged your father tightly, making your heart flutter at the sweet moment they now shared before you would be gone for who knows how long.
“I’m so proud of you my son, I hope you know that” his hand rested on Jimin’s cheek, as he looked deep into his eyes.
“I know pops”
“Good… and last but not least!”
Instead of pulling your weapon from the bag, like he did with the others, he went back into the armory.  When he returned, he had a katana with him, but this wasn’t just any katana. It was tradition in the Asian mafias that the heir to the thrown had one, it was a display of power, just as your ring and tattoo. It showed people you were the one in charge, and that you were the one they needed to fear.
The holster was black, everything about this sword was as dark as your soul. Except for a small pendent that hang from the end it. A solid gold tiger. You pulled it from it holster revealing the sharp blade. You swung it around just to get a feel of it, and it was perfectly balanced for your body.
“I have given you all weapons that link you to each other, weapons that show everyone you’ll meet where you belong. I know each and every one of you will make me proud in your own way, and I’m excited to see what this journey will bring for every one of you. Make more allices than enemies, be only cruel to those who deserve your wrath. Most of those you’ll meet are beneath you so don’t waste your time… But now go, you deserve this party, you deserve one last night of bad decisions before you go into the world as my representation”
You all nodded, straightening your backs, looking forward as if you were ready to fight the world in this moment. You all left your father behind in the office, and when the door was finally closed behind you a squeal of happiness and laughter erupted in the halls. Making the old man smile behind the once again closed doors.
