When going up against Mars NetoâJohn overdid it, displaying the "overkill" signature of a disrupted psyche.
But his anger saved Carlos. Carlos knows this, and thanks him, but he's unsettled. Perhaps he senses that this experience... injured John terribly.
Carlos just doesn't want to see it... or his part in it.
He tentatively offers this:
CARLOS: Thank you for what you did back there. JOHN: You're welcome. CARLOS: If you ever... want to talk. You let me know, okay? JOHN (an uncomfortable smile): Yeah. I wiâI will.
///
What a difference from the flippant pressure Carlos put on John to talk earlier in the episodeâthe very thing that triggered John and left him feeling cornered!
After delivering a somewhat more philosophical takeânot a specific personal traumaâCarlos bailed to do the investigation. He spoke about how theyâre all the same, but it wasnât rooted in an intensely personal grief or loss.
It was about the shape of his life, mostly.
And then he left John to sit in the fallout zone.
Anyway, Iâm just saying that why on earth would John want to talk to Carlos now? Carlos accidentally made himself an unsafe figure in John's world of emotional vulnerabilities:
CARLOS: My friend would actually love to go next, right John?
spnwin 1x04
(This is... a little analogous to how Sam Winchester operates with respect to talking it out with his own loved ones.)
///
With respect to John's overkill, I can't help but be reminded of Mary seeing Jack's overkill signature in Game Night.
Both Carlos and Mary are "big heart" characters, who sometimes unintentionally lean on others too hard in service of The Cause and The Need to Protectâuntil those they lean on break wide open.
(NOTE: We see Mary also do this with Cas in First Blood.)
Thereâs just something so crunchy about circumstances where someoneâs so useful, so powerful that you never bench themâbecause you just need them too damn much. (But wellâŚthat kind of weight is way too heavy for anyone to carry.)
14x17
BONUS:
âYou left them!â she shouts. Johnâs not around for her to be mad at, so she takes it out on Cas. (But also, she realizes that she left them too. Sees the error of her ways and apologizes.)
///
Sam does this on occasion:
DEAN: Oh, what? You think he's ready? He's had a pretty rough go of it lately. SAM: Which one of us hasn't? Seems insane to leave our one and only angel friend on the bench. DEAN (resigned): I'll call him. SAM: Thank you.
11x06
///
So, ofc, does Dean.
(x) (x) (x) (x)
Dean wants Cas to be invincible to both keep them safe as a family... and also to be strong enough to take care of himself.
Jack-Dean-Mary all tend to trade in having great expectations for Cas in particular.
When Dean marshals the forces, Cas often ends up with the heavy burdensâpartly because of tragic circumstances of the narrative, and partly because heâs so often physically the strongest.
//
And so. The "courage" characters often get revved into overdrive:
//
Even Cas has an "overkill" signature on occasion
Godstiel is the obvious example, but the moments in 15x03 and 15x06 often go unnoticed. Respectively, theyâre signs of Cas rising to the occasionâbut also, like Jack and John, of a worsening psyche. Weâll see how his resilience sometimes slips into something else: the dreaded âdestiny.â
Above: Cas overkills Belphegor, destroying Lilithâs Crook and Jackâs vessel in the processâcutting off any chance of getting Jack back, at least for the time being. Itâs a decisive move, yes, but also a glimpse of his fraying resilience.
&
How Cas kills the sheriff in 15x05 is also... disturbing. Angry. "Savage."
And the âTake who you want, when you wantâshows us Casâs anger at Chuck. It connects to his later words to Dean: "When God took [Jack] from usâŚ"
We get so locked in and amazed by the strength of certain characters that sometimes we miss these signs.
///
No one is unbreakable.
Sometimes, with certain people... we just forget.
///
Like:
BELPHAGOR: Funnyâ they didn't seem to think twice about itâ
//
Just like The Cause keeps winning out over care in SPN prime, the truth is that the Core Four in SPNwin donât really hesitate to send John into dangerâwhether itâs taking on a monster in episode one or facing off against a god:
MILLIE: You sent John into battle against a god who's immortal?
(She didnât know that, Millie. But itâs true that she sent him into that minefield. That's how soldiers operate... and it's tragic.)
Above: Like Dean, Mary can at times be prone to a mission-oriented (or safety-oriented) insensitivity. She runs hot and coldâtender one moment, tough the next.
..
Mary's hypocrisy and immaturity is every bit as delicious as John's grief- and fear- induced anger:
Later in 1x06, Mary will accuse John of throwing himself into danger, and it never occurs to her that her own hypocrisy might be what chafes. "Everyone's worried about you!" she says.
Then she accuses him of "running towards danger." She says, "this isn't a game; this is life or death." But is he the one who doesn't know that... or is SHE? (See above.)
The bottom line is this: she feels that she can put him in danger, no problems. Because she trusts her own judgment. Her own judgment gives her the illusion of control.
As for John, she wants him to be strong and to be resilient and take on what she determines to be the acceptable level of danger. He should slow down when she says slow down, and most importantly... he should make sure not to actually be in danger, even when and especially when she's sending him into that danger.
//
In 1x06, she asks to be let into his head, but she turns cold the minute he does. "I don't need you using me as an excuse to avoid your issues," she says, even as she verbally minimizes his anger and fear, and sidesteps that the root of his running is loss. (Loss of his father and the terrible fear of losing her too.) That's an approach that shuts down conversation, even if she is right.
Best part? She's doing all this while avoiding her own hypocrisy re: John's safety and her role as his battle commander.
Far from a warning sign, this is actually a sign of the maturing love between John and Mary: namely, that it's scary to care about each other. They want to be stronger for and more cautious with each otherâs safety.
(SEE: Dean and Cas in Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets: -> "Wow, this Benjamin seems like he's pretty cool, you know. Like he wouldn't make any half-cocked, knee-jerk choices.")
It's an impossible tightrope. The pot and the kettle!
It's the duality of being a comrade-in-arms with him and the burgeoning desire to be his lover. She wants to be protected by him and protect him from harm.
///
John the weapon
Eventually, in SPNwin, theyâll have to reckon with how they use John (and they will, in 1x06 The Art of Dying). It's about the fact that they know Johnâs struggling, but they lean on him anyway because he's strong and they need him. (Ironically, they do this even though John's the newest to the hunting world!)
It's so interesting to me that in SPN prime, John starts out as an innocent civilianâlied to, unarmed, and unprepared to protect himself or his family. Afterwards, he overcorrects, becoming the hardened, cruel father we know so well.
But in SPNwin, he steps into the life and becomes John the weapon almost immediately. And right away, Mary starts to lean on him in ways that echo how her Season 12 prime counterpart instinctively tried to lean on Cas.
Like Henry before him, John seems unbreakableâlike "nothing can kill the guy" (SEE: Larry in 8x12: "So, Henry is dead. I was so sure thatâthat he had survived.")
In SPN, characters like Johnâand especially Cas and Jack, sometimes Deanâare often lost to that same sense of duty. Not because they arenât loved, but because they were so often needed too much to be protected. It's an agony, really.
DEAN: So you're always thinking to yourself, he's indestructible. He'll always be around, nothing can kill [him]. (2x03)
///
JACK: Since I've been alive, everyone assumed I would be this special person who goes on forever. (14x07)

Can't explain it, but feeling Kaia today.
Something about not mattering. And being too weak.
Dark Kaia as a mirror for Dean's (Sam-coded) fear of his own weakness, especially post-AU Michael possession.
Dark Kaia is a survivor, a soldier.
She knows the fear.
She goads Dean about "being weak" and about "using violence, threats, whatever it takes" to get what he wants
(and what he wants is to be safe, for his loved ones to be safe).
She chides Dean about pulling a gun on other Kaia...
...but when she herself got angry, she accidentally friggin' SPEARED other Kaia!!!
Kaia wields violence like a second skin... for the many of the same reasons Dean does.
She knows Dean because she's LIKE him.
///
This is heavy, because while we've seen a lot of other characters VERSUS weakness outright (s4 Sam, s12 Cas)
this hasn't been Dean's primary mode of struggle, at least not in this manner.
The Mark of Cain is adjacent to it, sure, but that's more about eliminating the enemies and eliminating the need for terrible decision-making.
This is more like the Rowena-mode of "never being weak again," and the Sam-mode of self-disgust/vulnerability.
And just like Cas's "weakness" crisis in s12 becomes inflamed post-his Lucifer possession, so too is this the fallout of Dean's post-Michael possession:
//
Dean's a little bit aware of it, too, as we see in 14x09:
By his own admission, he's ruminating on the possession of his loved ones, and he's thinking about their struggles and resultant freakouts in fresh new ways.
(Note: I think he's also SUBCONSCIOUSLY thinking about the scenarios... where his loved one DID the possessing.)
But sadly...
Like Rowena, Dean CHOKES at THE critical battle junction, and he lets his loved ones down...
... which crushes him completely. :(
Dean lost faith in himself after this.
:((((
///
And the fear, that wound, that loss of control... of not being ENOUGH on his own...
...it persists.
It's all feeding into his eventual breakdown, into his looming existential crisis.
Nick says they're alike, but Dean became a vessel to save Sam and Jack.
Nick, on the other hand, did it to avoid his own grief and to plug the lost meaning back into his life:
///
Ah, it's so painful...
And in season 15, I think Dark Kaia and Dean spiral all the way down together, too, echoing each other and understanding each other in such horrible, interesting ways...
DARK KAIA (to Jack): You can fix this. Help us. Please. Please? (15x12)
Dean, Cas, and Sam all wax and wane on the idea of Jack saving the world. (SAM: Jack, you're the only one who can.)
Later, Sam and Dean beg Chuck to fix the world. (DEAN: But, first, you got to put everything back the way it was. The people, the birds, Cas. You got to bring him back.)
And when that fails, they count on God!Jack to fix the world. (DEAN: Alright, kid, you really think you can pull this off?... Way to go!)
///
ANYWAY
Kaia.
Kaia should be angry with Jack and Dean, but she isn't, because she's LIKE them. She understands them.
When Dean comes for our Kaia in The Bad Place, she collapses into his arms, and later, she cheerfully hangs out with Jack and borrows his clothes.
Charitably, Kaia was team Jack in the first place because she understood the desperation of his point of view. After all, she too was burdened with powers that tormented her, and she wanted them to mean something good.
Emotionally, she totally gets Dean, perhaps wondering if she too, would pull a gun if she could've had the chance to save her mom or aunt.
Dark Kaia, on the other hand, is a survivor. She's surprisingly ruthless and deeply desperate in very Dean- and Jack- ways. Dark Kaia fights to find a place where she belongs. She protects the people she loves, even when it costs her everything. In the end, she tragically gives in to death.
All this⌠it's why Kaia, Jack, and Dean get along better than they arguably should.
It's also why I think our Kaia will have both Jack and Dean eating out of the palm of her hand for the rest of time.
#spn 13x05#spn 13x09#about human weakness#kaia and dean#spn 14x17#kaia is dean-coded#it's why she dean and jack get along#and OUR kaia hugs dean and is close to jack because even though she SHOULD be mad at them she GETS them completely#mix and match traits#mix and match neuroses#jack and kaia and dean#jack and dean#dean vs weakness#cas vs weakness#sam vs weakness#rowena vs weakness#kaia vs weakness#kaia clocks dean's excessive force AND the reason behind it#i'd say the mark was overkill signature#and this post-possession signature is also at times... on a similar wavelength

Tea & Thunderstorms (Crowley, SPN)
Summary: Crowley loves being domestic when it comes to you.
Warnings: tooth rotting fluff, tbh.
WC: 347
A/N: it's not often i have the urge to write for Crowley, but i've decided to write more fluffy things for him because i honestly miss seeing him on my screen. Happy Easter!
Read on ao3!
--
It was the kind of rainy evening that made the whole world feel like it was holding its breath.
You sat curled up on the massive, overstuffed velvet couch in Crowleyâs sprawling lairâsomewhere between opulence and overkill. A crackling fire lit the room in gold, casting flickering shadows across the ancient bookshelves and glinting off the crown-shaped tea infuser bobbing in your mug.
âCareful, darling,â came his smooth, unmistakable voice from behind you, laced with fond amusement. âThatâs not ordinary chamomile. I may have added a little something⌠extra.â
You tilted your head back to see him standing there, no tie, sleeves rolled up, looking about as far from the King of Hell as anyone could. He was holding another mugâyours, actuallyâand he offered it with both hands.
You raised an eyebrow. âYou made me tea?â
âI can be domestic,â he said with mock offense, then added with a grin, âBesides, you looked like you needed it.â
You took the mug and let your fingers brush his just a little longer than necessary. âThanks, Crowley.â
He watched you for a second, and something in his face softened. The devilish edge meltedânot gone, never goneâbut quieter in this moment. He joined you on the couch, slinging his arm across the back of it until it inevitably draped around your shoulders.
Rain tapped against the windows like a lullaby, the thunder distant, muffled.
âYou know,â you said, voice low as you leaned into him, âyouâre not nearly as scary when youâre like this.â
Crowley smirked, brushing his fingers over your arm. âDonât let it get around. I have a reputation to uphold.â
You set your tea down and turned toward him, your knees tucked up under you now. âYour secretâs safe with me.â
His eyes met yours, and for a beat, the world outside didnât exist. Just the fire, the rain, and the warmth of his gaze.
âOf course it is,â he murmured, pulling you closer. âAfter all⌠Iâd burn down Hell itself before I let anything touch you.â
And for once, you believed he might actually mean it.

Quote: SAM:Â âYou were gonna leave, and you werenât even gonna tell me. Me. Do you realize how messed up that is, how unfair that is?â
DEAN:Â âI didnât have a choice! Sam, youâre the last person I could tell, the last person I could be around, âcause youâre the only one that couldâve talked me out of it.â [SPN 14x11: Damaged Goods]
For @spncreations Prompt 1: Fav character + a quote by them
I couldnât decide between Sam or Dean (itâs the bibroism), so I did a quote between the two of them. This was kind of a big undertaking for my first real graphic/first actual use of âphotoshop" (well, photopea), but I had this idea in my head and it insisted on being done. Obviously, collage and double exposure are some of my favorite art forms. More details, image descriptions, and credits under the cut.
All graphics have my signature line: tumblr.com/fandom-hoarder. Please do not repost or crop off credit. Please DO reblog. đ
All of these images were made with a double-exposure blending technique and collage. Each of these 12 images are made up of 2-5 screencaps layered together with varying opacity, with a primarily blue-red-green color scheme. For the most part, blue/light-green are for Sam and red/dark-green are for Dean.
Most screencaps were sourced from homeofthenutty.com/supernatural/screencaps/, except for two used in the last image, which were sourced from kissthemgoodbye.net/supernatural/ .
Descriptions:
Image 1: 3 images from âAll Hell Breaks Loose Part 2â with the words âYou were gonna leaveâ across the top in purple marker font. Deanâs demon deal kiss is red in the center of the background, layered over with Samâs open-eyes closeup when heâs resurrected in black and white, and Sam confronting Dean about making a deal in greenish blue. Half of Sam's face is covered by the red of the crossroad demon's face as she's kissing Dean.
Image 2: 1 image from â99 Problemsâ and 2 from âPoint of No Returnâ with the words âand you werenât even gonna tell meâ across the middle in purple marker font. The box where Dean is packing up his coat, gun, and car keys is red and takes up the entire background. This is overlaid with a full color cutout of the impalaâs tail lights from â99 Problemsâ, and a cyan layer of the shot of Sam finding Dean in the motel room in âPoint of No Returnâ.
Image 3: 1 image from âSacrificeâ and 2 from âRoad Tripâ with the word âMeâ at the top in purple marker font. A darker blue shot of Gadreel!Sam passed out with his crown of spikes is on the left, a green-tinged black and white image of Sam pleading with Dean at the end of âSacrificeâ is on the right, and in the center is a blue-green image of Sam confronting Dean, right before Dean leaves the bridge at the end of âRoad Trip.âÂ
Image 4: 1 image from âFirst Bornâ, 2 images from âBlade Runnersâ, and 2 images from âKing of the Damnedâ with the words âDo you realizeâ across the top in purple marker font. At the center, the image of Cain transferring the Mark to Deanâs arm in âFirst Bornâ highlights in red an image of Dean holding the bloody First Blade after killing Abaddon in âKing of the Damned.â Behind this is a darkened green image of Dean with a bloody face, still in the middle of his overkill of Abaddon. On the right side is an overlap of 2 images from the first time Dean picks up the First Blade and the Mark activates in âBlade Runnersâ; one of these images is a shadowed green with Dean's eyes open in shock, overlapped with a color image with Dean's eyes closed in apparent ecstasy.
Image 5: 1 image from âDo You Believe in Miraclesâ, 2 images from âBlackâ, and 1 image from âBrotherâs Keeperâ with the words âhow messed up that isâ across the bottom-center in purple marker font. A faintly blue image of Sam looking at Deanâs note during âBlackâ is superimposed to the left of a close-up of the note that reads âSammy let me go.â In the lower-right corner is a highlighted image of Deanâs keys and the motel note from âBrotherâs Keeperâ that says âSheâs all yours.â A red image of Dean with black demon eyes at the end of âDo You Believe in Miraclesâ enshrouds all the other images, highlighting and framing Samâs visage in red.
Image 6: 2 images from âBrotherâs Keeperâ with the words âhow unfairâ in the center in purple marker font. A dark blue-green image of Dean showing the Mark of Cain to Death is overlapped with a magenta-red image of Dean cutting his palm over the altar table to summon Death.
Image 7: 2 images from âDamaged Goodsâ with the words âthat is?â in the bottom center in purple marker font. A blue-green image of Sam looking wary and Dean looking sad as he hugs Sam from behind his chair is highlighted on the right side, over a red background image of Dean showing Sam the Malak Box. In the red image, the brothers are separated by the length of the Malak Box and a flare of magenta light.
Image 8: 2 images from âAll Hell Breaks Loose Part 1â and 1 image from âAll Hell Breaks Loose Part 2â with the words âI didnât have a choice!â across the bottom-center in blue marker font. On the left is a blue image of Deanâs crying face as he hugs Samâs dead body. On the right is a red image of Dean hugging Sam after his resurrection. In the center is a highlighted green image of the overhead shot of Dean holding Samâs dead body in part one.
Image 9: 1 image from âMystery Spotâ and 1 image from âNo Rest For the Wickedâ with the words âSam, youâre the last person I could tellâ down the entire vertical center in blue marker font. âLastâ is in all caps. On the left is a blue-green image of Sam hugging Dean on the Wednesday in âMystery Spotâ. On the right is a red image of Sam crying as the clock strikes midnight in âNo Rest For the Wickedâ. The red flares over to highlight Mystery Spot Samâs hair and the light in his eyes.
Image 10: 1 image from âLazarus Risingâ, 1 image from âMetamorphosisâ and 1 image from âPoint of No Returnâ with the words âthe last person I could be aroundâ across the bottom-right in purple marker font. A cyan, left-focused background image of Sam with blood leaking from his mouth as he looks worriedly at Dean while Dean decides whether to say yes in the beautiful room in Van Nuys during âPoint of No Returnâ. On the right side, a red image from âMetamorphosisâ when Sam is trying to convince Dean to give the Rugaru a chance by explaining that Sam himself is trying to use the demon blood powers in him for good. (This is the scene where Sam says, âIâm a whole new level of freak.â) Between Sam and Deanâs argument stances, Deanâs amulet, held in his palm when Sam returned it in âLazarus Risingâ, is enlarged and highlighted in red and cyan. The prongs connect Sam and Deanâs bodies.
Image 11: 1 image from âBlade Runnersâ and 3 images from âBrotherâs Keeperâ with the words ââcause youâre the only oneâ across the bottom-right in purple marker font. A red background image of Dean swinging the scythe through Death in âBrotherâs Keeperâ, with a magenta-red front-view image of Deathâs face beginning to crumble overlapping Deathâs back on the background. Overlapping this visual are Samâs profile highlighted in yellow-cyan on the left, smiling sadly up at Dean as he kneels in âBrotherâs Keeperâ and a center-right image, bisected by red on the left and blue on the right, of Samâs blood-speckled face in âBlade Runnersâ as he tells Dean to drop the First Blade.
Image 12: 1 image from âUnfinished Businessâ, 1 image from âProphet and Lossâ, and 1 image from âUnityâ with the words âthat couldâve talked me out of itâ across the bottom-center in purple marker font. All of the images are a gradient of violet-blue and magenta. âUnity Samâ with bloody nose on the left and âProphet and Loss Samâ with teary eyes on the right are more shadowed in purple-blue. In the center, highlighted magenta-red, âUnfinished Business Samâ has just told Dean âIf we die, we do that together, too.â The shadows of his profile and his plaid shirt are highlighted in purple.

đ˝đđđđđ đđ đđđđđ (đđą.1)
(Dean Winchester x Female Reader)

(masterlist)
đŹđŽđŚđŚđđŤđ˛: The wretched mark that Cain had passed on to Dean was taking an affect on the elder Winchester. Sam had been worried about the changes in his brother's character. Abaddon had already been killed, Dean was insistent on keeping the First Blade to use on Metatron. But Sam was more concerned with how to get the mark off his brother sooner rather than later. But who would know where to even begin?
đ°đđŤđ§đ˘đ§đ đŹ: Spoilers in the plots of seasons nine and ten. Mentions of blood, gore, SPN violence, mentions of genetic experimentation.

The look on Dean's face was all that Sam could remember when he held the First Blade for the first time. And ever since that moment he's noticed how much easier it was becoming for Dean to kill without any second thought.
Then there was the excuse Dean gave every time he wanted to bring that stupid blade along on almost every hunting trip they went on. Even when they truly didn't need it. It was like an addiction and there were times that Sam just wished he had given the blade to Crowley without Dean knowing.
But what really set Sam on the idea of taking the mark off his older brother, was the moment Dean finally killed Abaddon. The mark was powerful on Dean and after the lights went out of Abaddon's eyes, you would think it would be over, right? But Sam remembered how cold Dean had become before he straddled the body and stabbed repeatedly. The overkill was unnecessary and Sam couldn't forget the blood that covered his brother's face, while Dean didn't seem to want to stop.
Sam hated what his brother was becoming, and he hated that Dean was trying his best to justify when he kills. That he claims to be "nothing like Cain" in the sense of being a ruthless murderer. But in Sam's eyes, and in the eyes of their friends, Dean was changing and he was no longer the man he once was.
The only thing that Sam wanted outside of killing Metatron, was for his brother back.
Which then brings us to Dean.
He wished his kid brother would keep his nose out of where it didn't belong. Sam had no idea what he was going through, how could he? He had the power to beat Metatron now. And he could bet that he was able to beat practically anyone effortlessly if it came down to it. They could finally save the world for good.
He looked down at his arm and gazed at the mark, gifted to him by the father of murder himself. He knew he wasn't like Cain. When he killed, he had a reason. that reason was to kill all those evil sons of bitches that got in his way.
Although the constant burning from the mark, the constant urge to kill, he couldn't help but wonder that with his brother's nagging actually had some kind of truth. He didn't understand what the hell was happening to him, but he knew that right now it didn't matter what was happening. They had a task at hand.
So now, Dean had yet another meeting with Crowley since Sam was having a meeting with Cass to see if he was having any luck with the factions to beat the former Scribe of God. And that's exactly where he was.
Dean sat down in a booth of a bar, leaned up against the back of the chair, with a glass of whisky on the rocks. The King of Hell was sitting across from him with some fancy kind of drink with one of those tiny ass umbrellas.
Honestly, Dean didn't really know why he was still bothering to see Crowley. He wasn't even sure if he would even get the answers he needed from the demon but he knew he needed to at least try something. He didn't really find much of anything in the books in the Bunker's library.
So a visit with the King of Hell was the next best thing, even if the bastard was on his kill list after Metatron.
"I take it the angel hasn't had any luck finding that winged wretch, huh?" He asked, his accent thick and Dean rolled his eyes a little.
"Small talk? Really? Isn't that beneath you?" The hunter asked, a little impatient.
"Woah now, Squirrel. Just trying to have a bit of conversation. Didn't think that was so wrong especially after you bloody Winchesters kept me locked up for so long. You should be glad that I'm talkative and even willing to see you now." Crowley pointed out.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's just cut to the chase, alright? I don't even like being around you as it is." Dean continued, the demon placed a hand over where his heart would have been and feigned offense.
"So why have we arranged to meet?" Crowley asked, "I've already got what I want. Abaddon's gone and I'm the ruler of Hell again and I'm busy trying to get my kingdom back on track."
âIâm not gonna ask you to track down Metatron. I just want to know what the hell this mark is doing to me. I get enough of Sam bitching at me about how this thing is supposedly changing me. And I-â
âLet me guess, you want it to be nothing that way you can tell Moose youâre perfectly fine so he can get off your back. Am I correct?â The Winchester rolled his eyes a little but he couldn't exactly say the demon was wrong.
"So what's the deal with the damned thing?" He asked while Crowley took the cherry off his fancy little drink and ate it.
"Squirrel, I'd hate to tell ya, but I don't know what's going on with the bloody thing. Not a lot of people know how it affected Cain himself other than it of course gave him some sort of power, a thirst to kill. No one truly knows how it will effect the mind of the wielder." Crowley answered.
Dean didn't really know how much of what he was saying is true or if there was any more to this mark that the demon was holding back. But he didn't have the leverage to make him tell more.
"Well, if that was all you wished to know, I'd say that was a waste of chatting on. I'm surprised Sam isn't with you. Or are you still having marital problems?"
Dean's jaw tensed a bit. Things were always up and down between them and it didn't get much better after he got Cain's mark. There were times he liked to think they would still be there for each other, and he knew Sam was trying to look out for him. But it was just getting on his nerves.
"Other than this stupid mark he's wary of? Things are fine. Just focused on the job. The sooner Cass's group tracks down that asshat, Metatron, then the sooner we can focus on the next thing that comes out way." He said and the demon hummed a little.
"A hunter's work is never done. I can't say I pity you. But since there's nothing else to be done at this moment, I think I'll take my leave. Ciao."
Before Dean could protest, Crowley was gone. Dean grumbled to himself before he rested his arms on the table. Then he glanced down at his arm, looking at the scar.
Cain said there was a great cost with bearing this mark. At the time Dean was laser focused on killing Abaddon. But should he have taken things more into consideration?

Sam met with Castiel in his quarters since Cass was needed there while his followers continued the pursuit of Metatron. So now the two were simply in the angel's office so they could converse in private.
"So how are you holding up with the stolen grace?" Sam asked as a bit of an ice breaker and he watched Cass smile slightly, knowing that he'd say there was no need to worry about him.
"I can assure you that I'm holding up just fine for the time being. There is no need to he concerned when there are other important matters at hand. I know you came because you're worried about Dean," The angel said in his usual monotonous tone.
Sam gave that slightly awkward but point taken grin of his before speaking again, "Yeah, well, uh.. It's just that mark he got from Cain."
"You see that it's effecting him too. And what are you suggesting that we do?" Castiel asked, "You know that he cannot be without the mark until Metatron is defeated and he is the only one that can use the First Blade. You are already doing all that you can by not bringing it on every hunt you're on."
Sam sighed a little. He supposed the angel could have been right but even so, it wasn't comforting. Somehow it just wasn't enough. He's already thought about locking Dean up in the dungeon without the blade for a while so he's not a danger to anyone else yet.
Of course, the key word was yet. So there's a chance that Sam would have to do something that extreme.
"That's not enough, Cass. I don't want that stupid thing to affect Dean more than it already has. We have to come up with a plan or find someone that can at least help the situation before it gets any worse." The younger Winchester said.
The angel looked down at the hunter while he was sitting in the chair in front of him. He could tell just how worried the brother was and he knew that it was something that would never change. Even if there was seemingly no way for there to be any kind of relief before the changes worsen, he knew that Sam would stop at nothing to find a way to protect his big brother.
"There... there is a rumor amongst demons and angels alike." Castiel finally spoke again, causing Sam to perk up.
"A rumor? A rumor about what?" Sam asked as he sat up in the chair, giving the angel his undivided attention.
"It's simply a hearsay, so I can't promise this as some sort of definite truth so you must keep that in mind.'' The man in the trench coat warned.
"Yeah, yeah, just get on with it already."
"Well, there is a matter of Cain's descendants. Of course the ones mentioned in the Bible are dead because they were mortal and there are few left that carry Cain's blood in their veins. And even if they did, they wouldn't care his mark." The angel began.
"Okay, well what does that have to do with anything? If his decedents are slim pickings and they're human, it's highly unlikely that they'd know anything about the mark."
"Sam, I would appreciate a lack of interruptions if you'd like to hear what I have to say."
"Right. Sorry."
"Anyway, as I was saying, there is a rumor amongst Angels and Demons that there is one specific relative of Cain. One that wouldn't be mentioned in the Bible because she was conceived long after the book of Revelation was written. It is said that she walks among us to this day. The direct Daughter of Cain and Mistress of Murder. She is the spawn of a Knight of Hell and the Father of Murder."
"Wait, I thought Cain killed all of the Knights of Hell except for Abaddon who got away. How can she be a spawn of the both of them?" Sam asked, totally at a loss by the idea.
"Demons have their ways. Speculation from the ancient demons such as Azazel back in the day said that somehow, the demons obtained some of Cain's DNA and somehow used Abaddon's DNA, created a spell and Abaddon became pregnant. Cain's daughter is the first born-demon. She was born with the mark. All through experimentation and magic." Castiel said.
"That's insane! I knew demons were sick but this is just dispicable." Sam said and shook his head, and the angel couldn't help but to agree.
"The purpose of this was of course Abaddon's idea so that she had the perfect weapon to use against Cain. Cain supposedly doesn't know of his own daughter's existence and because she was born a demon rather than dying and becoming a demon, she is still living and arguably just as powerful as Cain himself, if not more powerful. But it's said that because Cain was once human, and Abaddon, of course, conceived with a human vessel, the child had some humane traits."
Sam was shocked at all of the overwhelming information. A demon that was born rather than a human dying and becoming a demon or being possessed? All of this was a bit much to grasp.
"So if this girl is still alive, why haven't we seen her? You'd think she'd want some sort of revenge since Dean killed her mother, right?" Sam asked.
"Well, that's a little complicated. The Mistress of Murder was not trained with the concept of family. It was said she and Abaddon never got along and because they clashed, supposedly because of her father's traits, she favored the idea of free will and not taking orders like Lucifer's demons. That was the time Abaddon told the girl who her father was and because she favored the human's idea of free will, she fought her mother and left Hell before going into hiding. Much like her father before her."
"That doesn't make any sense. Demons are pure evil right? How can one favor humanity? Especially one that you would think is born a demon." Sam continued.
"To be frank? That's the part that confuses everyone. That's why angels and demons only say this is a rumor rather than truth. There can be contradictions but some battle the contradictions and claim the humanity comes from faulty magic." Castiel answered.
"Well, first we'd have to find out if she's even real, right? Then maybe she knows something about the mark and can help us. If she was born with it then surely there's a way to subside it." Sam said, suddenly getting hopeful.
"Sam, this is going to be a bit complicated if she does know something. The mark is dangerous on anyone. And because she was born with it, because she's been killing since childhood, you don't know how she's handled her murderous urges over these last few centuries. She may not have the self restraint Cain supposedly had." The angel warned and Sam got up.
"We still have to try. She may not know how to get the mark off, but I'll take even the smallest bit of help rather than nothing."

Meanwhile, in Cincinnati Ohio, there was a little tattoo shop. It was a quaint little place that had been in business for a little while now. About four years to be exact.
There, sitting in a small chair with a handheld tattoo machine in her grasp and working diligently on her artwork, was the owner of the shop. A girl that no one truly knew anything about, but the mystery was a part of what kept some people coming, outside of the artwork.
You had practically shown up out of nowhere, bought a little building, renovated it and turned it into the little shop it was today. You were talented with your work, but outside of the fact that you were the owner of this place and had plenty of experience with your line of work, no one knew anything about the mysterious tattoo artist with the badass mark on her arm. Granted you enjoyed lying low and staying away from demons and angels alike, you got bored. You knew exactly where Cain resided before the current King of Hell and some human went and bothered him. But you yourself had never decided to go and meet the man you inherited the blasted mark from.
You didn't spare your father's life because you had compassion. Frankly you didn't care enough about your so called father to spare his life out of love. You barely knew the man. It was more to spite your mother.
You wished you could say you hadn't killed in centuries and of course you knew it was out of your demonic nature. But you figured if your father could walk away from Hell even if he was a demon, why couldn't you?
Of course, the urges were there. The thirst for blood was there and it never left. The burn from your mark ignited your entire arm constantly. It was a perpetual pain you endured.
But because you can't say you were clean of killing, that only meant one other option. You still were a killer. No one had shown you what it was like to be human and not kill. You couldn't deny your demon blood. You refused to go back to Hell, you didn't care to aid angels because they'd kill you anyway.
Humans though, as ideal as it may seem, their deaths cause too much attention. That would ruin your chances of lying low. Plus humans tend to miss other humans and you didnât want to be investigated over a missing personâs case.
But with the ever growing pain in your arm, you found that you liked the hunters' idea of killing monsters. Victims that no one would miss. They don't have souls so it's not like their death would benefit heaven or hell.
So the monsters were your designated victims, at least for now. Hey, the mark never said who you had to kill. And even if you did want to kill humans, you refused to give Hell the satisfaction of giving them souls. And over the years, you had fun with it once in a while, depending on how demented the monster was.
"Hey, Y/N?" Your client asked as he sat up when you were done with your work. You hummed a little as you got what you needed to make sure the tattoo would be protected during the healing process.
"I was wondering if you were taking any apprentice positions. I have this nephew who's getting out of high school and he's got talent. He want's to go to college and get some kind of art major but he needs a job since his financial aid and scholarships won't quite cover everything." The client said.
You lifted a brow. This was the first time something like this had come up. You didn't plan on working and teaching someone else. Let alone a human, but because of your senses you knew that this was no human.
"Let me think about it. I'll get back to you." Was all you decided to say and he got up out of the chair.
"Huh, so they say you do have a human conscience after all, Mistress of Murder."
You hummed a little and took your gloves off before standing up, not bothering to look the demon in the eye when it showed off his black eyes to you.
"Oh no, Kid. I was just entertained by your charade. I thought that I would play along just for your sake. You do well acting human, but don't you have a new king you should be serving?" You asked.
"Well the new King of Hell has tasked me in finding you and bringing you back to Hell wince Abaddon is dead. So if you'll just come with me then I'll go easy on you." The demon said and you scoffed and rolled your eyes.
"Oh how merciful of you, Mr. Demon. But unfortunately for you, I don't plan on going anywhere, and I certainly don't plan on anyone ever finding out where I am." You said.
"Very well. Have it your way." The demon said and he lunged at you with all the force he could muster but you took a hold of his wrist, unphased by his attack.
"You must be new to this demon thing. You're the weakest little pest I've ever seen." You said and you gripped even tighter and the demon was unable to move when you pinned him to the floor.
Then you placed a hand on his head, his black eyes widening with horror and when he tried to leave his human vessel, your eyes glowed red and you smirked, "Oh no, I don't think so, Love. You came in my territory, and you won't be going anywhere."
Then the demon started convulsing beneath your touch, the human body was growing hot as the demon started chocking. Then it started to vomit some sort of black liquid before it finally stopped moving completely. It lay there lifeless, eyes still black and wide open.
Then your eyes returned to their normal color.
"Well, it wasn't the most satisfying kill. But like I said, Kid. I don't intend on anyone finding me." You said and with the snap of your fingers, the corpse turned to red smoke and the mess vanished as if nothing had ever happened.
But one of the things he said stuck with you. You lifted your sleeve and looked down at your father's mark.
"So... she's finally dead. Too bad, I was hoping I'd get to her first."

Thank you!!!
Thank you guys so much for reading! Your support and feedback is greatly appreciated! Be sure to stay on the lookout for part two! Iâm hoping to get it out soon along with a masterlist! You all are amazing! đ¤

spn really missed sooo many opportunities.
- when dean brought sam back in 2x22 and azazel asked "are u sure what u brought back is really sam?" and sam going overkill on jake. missed idea here
- sams eyes turning black in 4x22. it cldve been a great plotline to have sam more permanently part-demon, and able to have his eyes turn black when using his powers more often
- sams demon blood. there was barely anything done with it in canon, but there shldve been more with it (irritation to holy water, has to work harder to get out of devil traps, exorcisms make him bleed from from his nose/eyes/ears)
-the telekinesis sam used only 1 time. i think from tht point on, his powers shdlve been expanding (electricity, thought projection, super strength, mind reading). it cldve been soo interesting to see sams powers progress in the show
uhh. thts all i can think of rn

Sorry! I know this will be controversial but. In reference to your SPN character elimination post. In addition to wishing I'd had the option to keep Meg, I would have liked the option to get rid of Jack. He always felt like a Cousin Oliver to me, taking over too much of the story to where even in those episodes we got without him, Sam and Dean (and to a lesser extent other supporting characters) spent way too much time talking about him. I wasn't there for the Jack Show with Sam and Dean playing the side characters.
Hey Anon!
I donât think these ideas are that controversial, or at least, I find them pretty reasonable.
I think Meg played a large enough part on the show that she definitely should be on a significant characters list, and Iâd probably keep her over quite a few other characters, too. She and Cass had some interesting potential, and I wouldnât have minded seeing more of her with Sam.
As for Jack, I like him a medium amount, lol. Which is to say, I like some of the interactions he has with Sam and Dean (mostly Sam) and what he helps reveal in their characters, but I donât need him on the show, you know? And I donât understand how people instantly loved him as soon as he turned up on screen. Also, if not having Jack meant we didnât get stuck with post-Season 11 Lucifer/Nick, well, sorry Jack. Also, I agree that he got too much focus, which pushed Sam and Dean (the reasons I watch the show) to the side. Also, having 2 fish out of water angel types at the same time feels like overkill to me.

You know, in thinking about Casâs overkill signatures, I think we can also include that one little demon dude who was looting and running in hell during 15x03. Cas dispatched him with impatience, to take out his anger on someone, not bc that demon was a threat.

SPN Pet Peeve #453
Shared Heavenâ. What is the need people have to state, ad nauseam, that Sam and Dean share a Heaven? Anyone who has ever watched the show knows they do, anhyone who hasnât, wouldnât assume they dont, since people living in their own private Heaven is a Supernatural concept, not a religious one,Â
As the show draws to an end soon, I keep seeing posts about âSam and Dean in their shared Heavenâ Just say âHeavenâ seriously, no one assumes theyâre headed for different ones. Â
