Reign of the Seven Spellblades New Anime Trailer is here

Warner Bros. Japan announced Reign of the Seven Spellblades adaptation will premiere in July 2023 in the series’ first anime trailer and main key visual. The main cast and staff were also revealed. The anime is scheduled for July 7    The anime will feature Atsushi Tamaru as Oliver Horn, Yuka Nukui as Nanao Hibiya, Misuzu Yamada as Michela McFarlane, Hitomi Owada as Katie Aalto, Riho Sugiyama as Pete Reston, and Shinsuke Sugawara as Guy Greenwood. The main staff includes Masato Matsune as director, Shogo Yasukawa as a series composer, Sota Suwa as character designer, and Kujira Yumemi as a music composer. J.C. Staff is in charge of the animation production. Yen Press is publishing the light novel and manga in English and describes the series as: Springtime at Kimberly Magic Academy brings a new batch of first-year students, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as they begin their journey to become full-fledged mages. Among these newcomers are Oliver Horn, a studious boy equally skilled with the wand and the blade, and Nanao Hibiya, a strong-willed samurai girl from the distant nation of Yamatsu. #Me with my DR7#I have SO MANY IDEAS; SO MANY TIDBITS OF INFORMATION ABOUT THEM #Did you know Hitomi's name meaning is 'pupil of the eye' or just 'pupil' or 'eye'? #...I absolutely did that as a bit of fun with how she ends up a Bill Cipher stan #Ryuji's name comes from the Persona character; I do not Persona but that boy is my SON #Ishida comes from the combination of his two inspirations' last names; Owada and Ishimaru #Katsuo literally picked his name because it means 'victory; hero; manly' #(He's transmasc if that explains it) #I don't think Honoka and Mio's names had any specific little easter eggs #I just like how they sounded #Ava...well her full name is a play on the word Avatar #Why? Mio has severe social anxiety, but surprisingly no anxiety about performing in front of people. She prefers to let her dancing do the talking for her.

She also LOVES super cute things, like plushies and dollhouses. She knows they’re a bit juvenile but they’re just so CUTE

I also lied about her name; it means beautiful or cherry. She is very beautiful, but the cherry part is a reference to Sakura from DR1. She was initially going to be similar to her in personality, but I decided against it due to how the writing mishandled Sakura a lot.

Ava’s birthday is February 14th, and she usually gives out homemade baked goods to other people to celebrate the holiday, rather than the other way around.

She started doing this as a kid, because she had no friends and everyone would forget her birthday due to it falling on Valentine’s Day. So she took to trying to make other people happy by giving them gifts instead.

She also loves cooking/baking shows, and also has a deep loathing for fondant.

Circling back to Ryuji, but he has a whole collection of otamatones and they all have different names.

Between him and Honoka, she’s the oldest by a few minutes. This doesn’t matter much to her personally, but Ryuji always jumps to her defense whenever someone asks who the older twin is.

Also another fun fact about Katsuo’s name; the last name Matsuda comes from the Death Note character of the same name.

Ishida’s personality is very reminiscent of Mr. Poolcheck’s from Gravity Falls, in terms of intensity. He also happens to be my voiceclaim for Ishida.

Quick to freeze in the face of confrontation, Blanche is a rather skittish individual who’s always jumping from place to place. Whether on order from her dorm leader or in a rush herself. She has a rather paranoid mindset and has a tendency to overthink, causing her to be late to most events. Leading her to apologize frequently and frantically as well. This is also due to her kind heart, as she takes others’ feelings very seriously.

However, Blanche doesn’t have the highest opinion of herself. Never on time, no self confidence, weak physical strength, and no courage. These are qualities she believes tie her down, labeling herself as a coward. This low opinion is something she’s constantly worried about, but she does try her best to see the bright side of every situation. She’s unfortunately a bit clumsy too so that doesn’t help her much. 😓

In Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, Ryza returns for an all-new adventure, this time set three years after her heroic efforts in Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. This dynamic sequel revolves around Ryza’s journey to the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird as she explores ancient ruins while seeking the truth behind the mystery of the lost legends. I'm Quitting Heroing, anime in arrivo per la fantasy novel di Quantum

La serie targata EMT2 andrà in onda sulle tv giapponesi a partire dalla prossima primavera.

Kadokawa ha annunciato che la light novel “Yuusha, Yamemasu: Tsugi no Shokuba wa Maoujo” (I'm Quitting Heroing: My Next Gig is at the Demon Queen's Castle) ispirerà una serie animata, il cui debutto in Giappone è fissato per aprile 2022. 

L’adattamento della commedia fantasy, firmata da Quantum, è in lavorazione presso lo studio EMT2 (Drug Store in Another World - The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear).

Oltre al video, con l’annuncio è stata svelata anche un prima immagine promozionale per l’anime.

Il progetto sta venendo supervisionato da Yuu Nobuta (High School Fleet, The Faraway Paladin), mentre alla regia c’è Hisashi Ishii (Rainy Cocoa Side G, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear). ODDTAXI Stage Play Prologue Story to Follow the Idols of Mystery Kiss

  The saga of the ODDTAXI anime continues in a new way this summer, with the announcement that a new stage play is on the way to Shibuya Cultural Center Owada's Densho Hall in Tokyo. ODDTAXI: Diamond wa Kizutsukanai is a prologue story that centers on the idols of Mystery Kiss, and it's currently scheduled to run from July 7 to July 18.

  ODDTAXI TV anime and film writer Kadzuya Konomoto is back on the script for this one in collaboration with the Otona no Cafe performing arts unit's Date-san. The play is being directed by Yusei Naruse, with the anime's Baku Kinoshita handling original character designs and PUNPEE, VaVa and OMSB back on music after lighting up the anime's soundtrack.

  At the heart of Mystery Kiss is Rui Nikaido, played here by AKB48's Yui Oguri. Producer Explains Improvements Over The First Game

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy will have numerous improvements made to its maps and battle system compared to its predecessor.

Our Japanese comrades at 4Gamer published a new interview with Atelier Ryza 2 Producer Junzo Hosoi, revealing more on the game.

First off, one of the biggest things Gust struggled with in the early phases of development of Atelier Ryza 2 is deciding how much time would have passed since Atelier Ryza 1‘s ending. They ultimately set on three years, though some on the team brought up how “Ryza will be 23 years old in another sequel”. Hosoi however said if there’s a third game, it won’t necessarily be Ryza for a third time as protagonist, and it won’t necessarily take place three years later again.

Many players told Gust via feedback that items in the first Atelier Ryza feel useless in battles, since you can easily win anything without using said items, despite all the efforts needed to synthesize them. In Atelier Ryza 2, the battles will give more importance to items and will be closer to the rest of the Atelier series in that aspect.

Players also pointed out the jump function in the first game was useless besides making Ryza’s chest jiggle. As such, the maps of Atelier Ryza 2 have an emphasis on three-dimensional exploration. That’s also why they added the underwater swimming, the Lupin the Third grappling hook, climbing, and other actions. You’ll be able to collect materials underwater too.

In the first Atelier Ryza photo mode was added sometime after release via a free update. However, photo mode will be available from launch in Atelier Ryza 2. Note that Japanese games for years now have been doing “Photo Mode”-like functionalities, even if not called such, before it became a popular thing to do in western games a few years ago.

Junzo Hosoi also mentioned that similarly with the first game, Toridamono worked tirelessly on this sequel’s chara design. At some point they’d spent seven hours a day in online meetings. Toridamono made tons of different Ryza designs for this sequel, having trouble coining how she could look like three years later. Hoisoi jokingly mentioned Toridamono drew Ryza’s thighs sometimes thinner, sometimes thicker than the final design. Maybe we’ll end up seeing these in an artbook sometime after release. Atelier Ryza 2 is also different in how it features Ryza visiting the royal capital. It’s a developing city mixing  many cultures, completely different from Ryza’s Kurken island. The city also has heat haze because of its stone pavement, reinforcing the summer-like atmosphere. Certain places in the city are more developed than others too, and it’ll let players discover various landscapes and architectures. Ryza is also a countryside person visiting such a huge city for the first time, so the game will properly reflect that too.

senbatsu sunday. the weea-big one.

an insane amount of work went into this week’s weeabatsu. mostly because i tried giving index scores to other established rankings. they aren’t perfect as they are, but i do have a goal of making them really nice and comprehensive by next sousenkyo season. then i’ll share it with the weebs over on stage or something.

so i’ve explained in the spreadsheet how the weeabindex breaks down, but here are some highlights.

sousenkyo. oshima yuko, acchan, mayuyu, shinoda mariko, and yukirin are the sousenkyo’s top girls (of which only yukirin remains). after them, you start to see outliers like ngt’s honma or ikoma who both ranked highly in a single year. i considered limiting this list to members who participated three years or more (what i call the maeda atsuko rule), but figured that’d just make it harder for me updating in the future. the comparison to weeabatsu uses an alternate weeabatsu ranking that eliminates any girl who has not ranked in ssk. jurina, miyazawa sae, and kitarie’s ranks are the same between the indexed ssk and the alt weeabatsu. the most similar in terms of index score is oya shizuka.

stage48. i’ve only gone as far back as the 2012 rankings for this list, simply because i don’t think the older results exist in their complete forms anymore. the weeabindex scores here are derived from the total ranked rather than number eligible simply because of stage’s downvote system makes it statistically awkward to include girls who received no votes at all. i would say the popularity of the top 16 (senbatsu basically) is pretty indisputable. compared to weeabatsu, tanaka miku’s rank is the same while hiragana’s higurashima mei is the closest by index score all the way down there at the bottom.

reddit. this ranking is less important as the /r/akb48 community is pretty much dead. still, i had the time. jurina is reddit’s queen apparently, ranking first in the two given years. the index scores are going to be pretty positively skewed simply because the number of eligible members i much higher. compared to weeabatsu, kitarie is the same in rank, and shiraishi is the most similar in score.

01. ske down 0.95, 16.2 above average. added kitano ruka (194). ske continues to be the weeabatsu top group. suda akari in here with the biggest individual boost this week. this is thanks to recent bingo appearances and her guest spots on the tentoumu-chu show.

02. keyaki down 4.28, 11.25 above average. keyaki overtook their senpai this week, and i can’t even tell you why.

03. nmb down 0.75, 9.41 above average. added shibuya nagisa (73). i talked some shit about nmb being rip this week. yagura announcing grad just really makes me feel like they have no future without leeching off of sayaka. yet weirdly and magically, they’re third best this week. some thanks goes to nagisa who i fell in love with while watching tentoumu-chu. also, yabushita jumped 60 places, contributing to nmb’s minimal average change.

04. nogi down 6.9, 8.81 above average. i lied earlier; i can guess why nogi fell some. terada, yoda, and kubo got kicked down a couple of tiers (probably a few too many). again, nothing much nogi is doing wrong, they’re still my favs. i’m just beginning to see the merit in other groups.

05. akb down 5.02, 2.59 above average. added eight members. i did it; i caught up on akbingo. to summarize some thoughts, (1) muramoto isn’t as shit as everyone says, (2) the best episodes include sister groups, (3) 2017 is a pretty good akbingo year so far. i’ve also now mentally separated akb into four subgroups: dai-senpai (gens 1-9), next gen (gens 10-15), 8tos, and the children (gen 16+/kenkyuusei).

06. hkt down 5.3, 10.7 below average. indexing ssk and the stage ranks really got me thinking about hkt. mainly, i really, really don’t understand the appeal of miyawaki sakura. at all. she’s just really boring to me. and as much as i like the girls now, a lot of that is thanks to sashihara. i want to preface that i knew absolutely nothing about sasshi’s history prior to watching hyakaten and tonkotsu, but that senpai/houhai dynamic is really what made hkt initially interesting.

07. sdn down 9.8, 37.5 below average. i’m still surprised that sdn isn’t last. really, it’s my respect for ohori and noro in the early bingo days that keeps them here. kondo is pulled up by association, an aspect of the weeabatsu that emulates the idea that being in the right team affects your standing.

08. team8 up 32.5, 41.58 below average. added six members. team8 the only positive change this week, and it’s a huge jump too. i watched bunbun; i liked bunbun, and this is the result. i wanted to make some comments on individual members that may seem familiar if you follow us on twitter. yamada nanami is the future yamamoto sayaka. chou kurena is the better shimazaki haruka. honda hitomi is... a less interesting miyazaki miho, but she’s okay. i made the comparison between team8 and hkt last week, but now i’ll honestly say i think 8tos have more raw potential.

09. ngt down 7.93, 42.93 below average. now, i’‘ll say ngt is essentially early hkt. however, i really have no clue how well they’ll do without kitahara. i don’t know how well kitarie will do without ngt. she said recently that she’d never passed a single audition after joining akb ten years ago. ten years. i like kitahara, so i hope she got one hell of a plan post-graduation.

i want to add here at the end, that i give no fucks about scandals. let the girls be girls. i say this because stage really crucified the hell out of sayuringo and owada nana (the latter of which never recovered before graduating). unless she’s a straight up felon, i don’t care what idols do off-camera or offstage.

Blanche is a naturally kindhearted person, who wears her heart on her sleeve. She can be quite bubbly and very playful, similar to a small child.
