I have so many, but tbh my favorite headcanons have to do with her having PTSD - so i can't promise this will be a fun post

Mental Health and Neurodiverse Headcanons:

PTSD

Hates being alone at any given moment and had to ask Donald if she could room with him in the houseboat for a few months

Genuinely cannot look at her reflection and will be needing exposure therapy

Does not like the feeling of movement underwater because it reminds her of the moon's gravity

Terrified that she'll never be fully capable of being a mom because of the 10 years she missed

Cringes at any moon or space themed items now - sometimes triggers her on a bad day or if she looks at them for too long

Her hair being too long is a trigger for her, so she always keeps it shoulder length or above

She ALWAYS feels cold even if her body temperature is normal and sometimes it drives her crazy

Lots of nightmares about what-ifs - what if it was my kids instead of me, what if it was my brother instead of me, what if i didnt have oxychew, what if i never met the Moonlanders, etc etc etc

The taste of black licorice will genuinely send her spiraling, and because it lingers - it wrecks her for days (she hates similar flavors such as rootbeer)

Finds a lot of joy in warm places so she now loves to be out in the sun

Had a period of time where she wasn't really talking with Penumbra because of the severity of her triggers/ptsd

Both finds peace in dead silence, but it also brings her back to the moon as well - she has a very complex relationship with isolation

Prefers silver over gold (even though she doesn't wear jewelry, she likes silver on others and silver on things such as zippers and buttons)

Spent quite a few years terrified of flying after the horror of her own trauma set in, but it threw her into a big depression since piloting is her passion

Hates taking care of her stump because she doesn't like taking her prosthetic leg off - she sees it as her own, so she hates taking it off even though she knows she needs to when sleeping or showering

She has a hard time looking at her stump and scars because on one hand; sick as hell battle wounds, but on the other; damn was that the worst time in my entire life

Depression and Anxiety

Even before crashlanding on the moon, she dealt with depression and social anxiety

She has a bit of a hard time keeping her room tidy and taking care of herself, but she's phenomenal at putting other people first

Feels as though she's not attractive enough

Wants to be a ray of sunshine in other peoples' lives

She's very scared that she won't be enough for people and therefore she must put 110% into everything she does for others

ADHD and Autism

Her sensory issues tend to directly conflict with her PTSD issues - like she hates silence because of the moon, but sometimes she gets overstimulated by noise and needs the silence or alone time

She does not sleep until her body physically passes out because the change in activity is hard for her to deal with

Goes insane if she feels understimulated because her brain begins to shut down and she dissociates

Many, many stims (sometimes doubles as grounding with PTSD): bouncing her leg, various hand motions, feeling the fabric of her clothes, physical affection with her loved ones, playing with the tightness of her prosthetic (loosening and then tightening it over and over), shaking her head to feel her hair around her shoulders (and solidifying that what she's feeling is earth gravity)

Really hard time understanding social cues that makes her come across as rather ditzy

Special interest in aircraft technology and was a top student at her flight school

Love/Hate relationship with reading because if she enjoys what she's reading she gets invested, but if she's understimulated, the words jumble together in her mind

Not good at math for a similar reason

Fish are a huge sensory nightmare for her; the scales, the smell, the taste, etc

Is generally pretty sensory-seeking, but has a few Hard Nos on textures (such as slimy scales)

Other:

I headcanon Della having compulsive sexual behavior disorder, and her libido especially spiked after being on the moon for 10 years, and it makes her feel really gross at times

Due to said hypersexuality, she gets intrusive thoughts that piss her off

Because of the moon not really having a clear indicator of night and day, Della lost her circadian rhythm and struggles with a Hell combination of non-24 and ADHD insomnia

The lack of general sleep makes it hard for her to lose weight and so she's insecure about that

Physical Disabilities:

Because she was on the moon for so long, the zero gravity and lack of proper breathable oxygen took a huge toll on her, physically

She developed really bad asthma and will likely be recovering from it for the rest of her life

Her lungs can only intake so much oxygen at a time, so she also struggles with shortness of breath

Upon returning to earth, her body was really broken down from the cold atmosphere - causing her to not be able to regulate her body temperature properly

Her bones were weakened upon arrival, so she has to spend years recovering physically from it

Her stump is irritated a lot because she doesn't like taking care of it properly

She owns crutches for when she needs to take breaks from her prosthetic just because of the discomfort when wearing it

She is not afraid to hit Donald with a crutch BTW

Somebody tell me HOW THE FRIG Gyro never became rich and famous for inventing OxyChew? You'd think a gum that supplies never-ending nutrition, water, and oxygen on space explorations would be the key to earning him the international respect he deserves, and a Nobel prize AT LEAST. Why didn't he do anything more with that??

And I know what you're thinking- "Nobody wants black licorice-flavored gum!" To that I say shut up (hj), because there's likely no reason he couldn't produce it in any flavor; he only originally made it that flavor because it's probably his personal favorite, and he's too arrogant to accept that not everyone else shares the same views/opinions as him, plus maybe to troll Della. But if it meant respect and fame, you can bet he'd make it in a variety of other flavors!

FR tho, there was so much potential with the OxyChew (including the horribly missed opportunity for Gyro and Della to actually interact at some point), but it just became a throwaway joke like the rest of his involvement with the Spear of Selene.

DuckTales (2017) Discussion Time!

Let’s say one day Disney decided “Hey we should make a video game based off the 2017 reboot of DuckTales!” What type of video game would YOU want that DuckTales video game to be?

Feel free to be in-depth as you want! Or if you want answer along the lines of “Mario Kart but with ducks” that’s also acceptable! Feel free to respond or reblog with your own answers!

Game Idea 1: Platformer

Well I’m sure all the older fans of DuckTales or anyone who is familiar with retro gaming should already know that the ducks have had plenty of adventures in gaming: Including two NES platformers based of the OG DuckTales as well as a remastered version of the first game!

Fun Fact! The remastered version is where the Gyro’s black licorice oxychew came from!

So I wouldn’t mind if we got a platformer starring the modern cast! Personally I’d love to play more than just Scrooge. The playable characters in my mind would be the main five: Scrooge, Webby, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Oh and instead of a 2D platformer, I think this should be a 3D platformer

Donald has been in one of those before!

Like the NES game there will be different levels and you can select which one you want to go first! The world’s would be pretty big with certain areas only accessible to certain characters through their own respected skills

Game Idea 2: Fighting Game

DuckTales (2017) has the perfect cast of characters for a fighting game! They’re all adventurers that know how to fight! And they have their own distinct costumes, personalities, and fighting styles! Also can you imagine the different fighting stages?! That casino Gladstone got stuck in, Gyro’s lab, Darkwing’s lair, the Cloudslayer/Sunchaser (both the garage and on the plane), the dream world(s), the list goes on! Also Bradford in that armor from the finale in front of the The Solego Vortex would make for a GREAT final boss stage

Also besides the heroes I want the villains to be playable characters, this roster would be stacked! Also characters like Fenton and Drake can switch between their regular identities and their superhero identity

But most importantly, I want more character interactions! One thing I love in modern fighting games is their character specific dialogue between two fighters! It’s always fun and the characters from DuckTales would be perfect for that!

Yo Disney! If you need someone to come up with ideas for that, I’m your guy! I’m already coming up with some in my head

You know what? I want Huey, Dewey, and Louie as a team to count as one playable character kinda like how the Turtles are in Injustice. Same with May and June

Game Idea 3: RPG

I admit I ain’t the biggest RPG guy, the ones I really played through are stuff like the Mario themed ones, Pokémon, and Kingdom Hearts but I really think the DuckTales world would be perfect for this kind of game

I actually talked about this idea with @tokuvivor awhile back. We kinda imagined a turn based RPG with timed hits and party members like you’d see in Super Mario RPG and the early Paper Mario games (also Mario & Luigi but just for timed hits)

Since DuckTales has such a huge cast we thought it’d be fun if in the game you could meet different characters throughout the game and have them join your party. We were thinking about having 3-5 members for the player’s party and the only requirement would be one of the main characters (one of the triplets, Webby, or Scrooge) has to be in that group at all times. Kinda like the Mario ones require Mario to always be present in the team

Like I said about the fighting game, DuckTales has such a wide range of characters with their own unique skills, I think it’d be cool building your team to your liking

Game Idea 4: Mario Kart but with Ducks

Okay. Now I know that there have been a lot of Disney racing games some of which have featured some of these characters already. But come on, a Mario Kart type game in the DuckTales world would be so cool!!

Imagining driving around Scrooge’s Mansion in a go-kart! He’d be pissed but it’d be cool! Or in the streets of St. Canard! Or any of the places where the family has adventured!

But what would be REALLY cool is if Funso’s Fun Zone was a track! Just imagine this! You drive around Funso’s then all of sudden you find path leading down to F.O.WL.’s Lair!! That’d be so cool!

UGH, GO OFF XD I can't tell you how good it feels to know somebody else knows how disrespected and mistreated Gyro was. 😭😭 (See my pinned post)

I think you would enjoy my fanfics Wait, What? (Della tells Gyro how grateful she is to him for the OxyChew saving her life, despite the evil taste), and the sequel To Love and Be Loved is To Be Changed (Gyro grudgingly asks Della for advice on being a new parent after 'Astro B.O.Y.D.').

for the person who's arguement was ' it's for kids '

I need to re-title that one because it seems like a Bradford post but I mention Gyro quite a lot.

I remember when the fans were constantly drawing fanart of Della hurting Gyro like it was cool and funny... because the fans of Ducktales who were posting to Tumblr were mostly 20-year-olds with a small segment of teenagers who insisted on being labeled as minors but did not pay any attention to content warnings because when you're a teen, you think everything should be open to you and you're insulted if it's not.

( speaking as someone who was once a know-it-all teenager. )

But this is the same show that constantly had Gyro getting hurt for comedy... THIS MAN GOT ELECTROCUTED TWICE.... FOR COMEDY. This man was crushed in a door by a small child as a joke. So ... that whole ' it's for kids ' argument falls flat.

This man had his wrist snapped for comedy. Della could've easily attacked him and it would be in keeping with the show. The nephews or Scrooge could stop her and insist that they work this out. Then cut away if you don't want to deal with the emotions.

The writers set up a potential plot thread and just dropped it after Della came back. Della and Gyro are together in a room with Scrooge and Beakely for two scenes but Della and Gyro don't talk to each other at all. Gyro doesn't even acknowledge her.

They set up that Della and Gyro know each other and never did anything with that.

They wasted potential. That was the point of the rant.

Della and Gyro could've had the same kind of friendship-family relationship as Webby and Dewey and I'd be happy. But instead,the writers never let them interact despite being in the same room.

They played keep away with this plot thread by making the danger too great for them to have the time to talk about anything and instead just expected the fans to assume that Della and Gyro talked off-screen.

But in the impossbin, they have Della still ranting about Gyro like she's got unresolved feelings about him. So it seems like they just never talked ever and never will. ( But it's interesting that the fact Gyro's Gold Tech was used on the rocket and Della mentions them in What Happened to Della Duck but that it's never brought up or shown. And it's not until Impossbin that Della even Talks about Gyro again. The conflict is never resolved. )

"The man makes you chew black licorice for a decade,… you come up with some insults." This episode implies that Della and Gyro have never talked it out and only agreed to be civil because the kids or Scrooge.

Scrooge mentally : please just talk it out so I can be free of this torment.

Oh, I forgot that this is a CLONE of Gyro and not really him. That would explain why Della doesn't confront him, but that implies that Della knows Gyro well enough to know if it's him or a copy of him. ( They were siblings... )

( The way Della and Kit interact is basically exactly what I personally wanted to see Gyro and Della interact like. Have her hug him but then punch him for the Black Licorice thing AND put her kids in danger with his experiments. And have Gyro make some kind of passive-aggressive comment about missing her punches but they hurt a lot less. Something Something, you held back. - let them be friends or siblings. )

And , To be fair, the writers had to scramble in season 3 to collect plot threads.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the writers got a season 4.

Another “Depths” Theory

Me after the episode premiered: Sooooo...how the heck did Launchpad breathe underwater when he was visiting Oceanika? Magic bubbles? Does he just have that ability? ...Did he hold his breath the whole tim-- 

Me now: DOES LAUNCHPAD HAVE A PACK OF OXY-CHEW?

Gyro and Launchpad's friendship is...kinda non-existent, so I'm doubting Gyro lent it to him himself. So how could LP have gotten the Oxy-Chew? 

Possibilities: 

He stole it. xD 

LP is a spy working for S.H.U.S.H, Gyro has a side-job there, he supplies the agency with his inventions. (Pretty much in line with "Double O Duck".)

 Someone who knows Gyro, gave it to him. If the gum was always his method for breathing underwater, then probably someone who gave it to him before he started working for Scrooge.

Gyro headcanon time (mostly about auDHD and Boyd)

He is gay, trans, and on the aroace spectrum. One of the reasons he chose the name Gyro for himself is because of the alliteration, because that’s a very trans thing to do.

Like I said in a previous post, he has auDHD, but I imagine he wasn’t diagnosed until much later on due to misconceptions surrounding the conditions in his youth.

The actual diagnosis came a couple of years before the show started. Scrooge suspected it the whole time (because there’s definitely something neurodivergent going on with Donald and Della), and nudged him in the right direction.

Gyro normally doesn’t like hugs due to sensory and emotional issues. He never fully gets over it, but does accept them from Boyd on occasion. Boyd learns pretty quickly to ask Gyro if he’s okay with getting a hug and not to take it personally if he says no.

Donald and Della’s journeys with raising the boys share some similarities with Gyro and Boyd so they help out whenever they can. Donald doesn’t mind Gyro that much and is very supportive of Huey and Boyd’s friendship, while Della never gets over the Oxychew thing but would never dream of it getting in the way of Huey and Boyd being besties.

Gyro has really had a huge impact on a lot of people's lives in DuckTales. And sadly, he was so overlooked (by both the characters and the production crew)...

If it hadn't been for his OxyChew supplying Della with oxygen, nutrition, and water, she never would have survived to make it back to her family; the Ducks really owe him a huge debt of gratitude. It honestly bothers me how ungrateful Della was; I mean, I get how horrible it must've been to suffer the taste of black licorice for a decade (and to have the taste permanently stuck in your mouth after that), but c'mon...

In 'The Most Dangerous Game... Night', if Gyro hadn't shown up with his shrink ray and interfered in the Ducks' game night, Louie- who was questioning how he fit into the family- might not have discovered his talent of seeing all the angles, and how that contributes to the family on their adventures, and how he could use that talent to someday have his own successful business like Scrooge.

If Gyro hadn't created the armor in the first place (before it became the Gizmoduck armor, back when it was still known as Project Blatherskite and was supposed to be Gyro's ultimate project and solution to regain control over his inventions after they always turn evil), Fenton never would have discovered that his passion for helping others- which he still always loved doing as a scientist, even after becoming Gizmoduck- could also extend to being a superhero. And Gyro actually gave him the new-and-improved model of the armor in the end, which he specifically built for Fenton (self-contained, using Fenton's brain as the core processor this time); granted, that was on Scrooge's orders, and Gyro still thought Fenton was a danger to himself and others in the suit, but the point stands.

If Gyro and his technology hadn't helped Scrooge get back his gold Rockerduck stole (Gyro happened to be stuck in the Old West with his Time Tub, which was a fortunate coincidence), Scrooge wouldn't have gotten that part of his fortune or that part of his legacy.

Gyro took Manny on as an intern and gave him his own name- and yes, Frank Angones indeed confirmed he got his name from Gyro, which likely explains why Gyro actually remembers it- allowing our favorite Headless Man-Horse to become more of a normal guy with a normal life like he wanted, instead of just an evil supernatural creature or 'freak'.

Gyro played a huge part in helping disable the Solego Void before Donald could be erased when Bradford threw him in!

As @sometimes-they-come-back-237 pointed out in a very similar Gyro appreciation post (which I think is such a fun coincidence, and it's so cool more people agree), he saved both Della and Donald, and he deserves a raise (and more respect by Della)!
