You Don’t Own Me
P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 P8 P9 P10 P11 P12 P13 P14 P15 P16
Chris Sturniolo lives by his own rules, refusing to be controlled. Some see him as a rebel, a troublemaker—but is that the full truth? Meanwhile, Y/N is focused on making the most of her last year of high school, determined to have a normal teenage experience. But when their worlds collide, they realize they may have more in common than they ever expected.
WARNINGS: unwanted touching, hints towards dark themes
A/N: I'd eat a brick for Chris tbh
With love and big tits, Rose

P11: Bricked Up
He’s fucking annoying.
The sunlight does little to ease my frustrations as we sit in the bay window of my room. Shawn keeps inching closer—and closer. My ass is practically numb from sitting halfway off the fucking bench.
And he’s still touching me. His knee is prodding into the side of my thigh, his legs parted as he slouches against my window. I can see grease stains from his hair wiping on the window pane.
Fucking gross.
“C’monnnnn.” he whines, his hand falling onto my knee and gently squeezing. My body tenses from the action. “Let’s just—let’s take a break!” he exclaims.
A break?
“Shawn, we haven’t even really started.” I point out.
This was only the second time he had come over to work on the project. The first time went about the same—maybe worse. At least this time he wasn’t trying to pull my legs into his lap.
“But I wanna talk with you.” he sighs, rubbing his hand over my knee, his fingers inching upwards. I would move but any further and I’d fall to the floor. My body stays frozen. I inhale a shaky breath, my nails digging into my palm as I clench my fists.
I miss Matt.
This project wouldn’t be so miserable if I hadn’t gone behind his back and did the one thing he told me not to. Why did I have to be so stupid?
Part of me is livid at this entire situation—Shawn in my room, a lack of any progress on our projects, and his damn hand on my leg. But maybe I deserve it. Maybe this is karma.
“How about we go on another date soon, yeah?”
My head turns as I look at Shawn with squinted eyes. I can feel my heart pumping in my chest as I try to take a deep breath. Is he serious?
Snapping my eyes shut, I attempt to ground myself. “Shawn, I’m not—-”
And then I feel it—his hand on my knee moving up to the middle of my thigh, his other hand cupping my jaw as I blink my eyes open, finding him staring at me—well, at my lips.
No.
I don’t want this.
The feeling of his breath fanning on my face makes my body recoil. I place my hand on his chest, pushing him away as I stand up.
My arms cross as I hug myself, my eyes stay trained on the floor as I clear my throat. “Shawn, I think you should go.” I say, wincing as I hear him let out a humorless laugh. My brows scrunch together as I hear him aggressively collect his things. The sound of my door slamming echoes as I hear him mumble incoherent words under his breath.
I hate this. It’s exhausting. Nothing is going right—nothing is even tolerable anymore. I have no friends, no one who understands me.
I slump back on the bench of the bay window. My hands rub over my face as I try to take a deep breath.
I need to sit up and just breathe.
My spine straightens as I fix my posture, allowing more air to fill my lungs as I stare out my window.
Oh.
Oh.
The sight of Chris standing with Trevor’s leash in hand makes my stomach roll into knots. How long has he been standing there? I can’t do this. Not today.
Before any movement can happen from his end, I dart up and escape to my bathroom. I shut the door, sliding down with a defeated huff. The cold tile makes my sore bottom hurt more. But I don’t care. Not right now at least.
___
|  From Matt: Hey, can you come over?  |
I’ve been staring at the message for five minutes, completely frozen as my thumbs hover over the screen. This could be good—or even worse.
I find myself in front of his front door, my hands clenched into a tight fist as I knock softly. I don’t like how this feels. Everything is so tense. My bones are practically vibrating, my skin pulsing with an unsatisfiable itch as my feet shift on the wooden porch.
Footsteps echoing make my palms sweat. I rub my hands on my shirt, swallowing thickly as the door swings open. Matt stares back at me. His eyes seem sullen, his face flushed as his brows wrinkle together.
Silently, he steps to the side. “Hi, um—let’s talk in my room?” he offers.
I walk inside the home, my nose twitching as I breathe in the familiar scent. I slide my shoes off my feet, my eyes scan my surroundings. Everything seems messier—blankets are sloppily falling off the couch, a large indent of a body imprint on the cushions.
“C’mon.” Matt says. I nod, slowly following his footsteps as we move towards his room. My arms cross tightly over my chest, my fingers clutching into my sides as my heart hammers throughout my body.
I don’t want this friendship to be over. Being away from Matt is tough, but the unknown feels better than the closure of completely losing him as a friend.
“Do you wanna… sit?” Matt asks, patting the edge of his bed as he sits down on the blankets stiffly.
My feet stutter on the ground. I take small steps, letting out a deep sigh as I plop on the soft mattress. Silence echoes through the air. I watch from the corner of my eye as he scratches the back of his neck, clearing his throat.
“I’m really sorry.” I mutter, breaking the silence.
He shifts next to me, his shoulder bumping into mine. “It’s—it’s okay. I’m sorry too. There’s no reason for me to be shoving into business that’s not mine. I… I guess I’m just overprotective, you know? I mean, I miss my brothers. Nick’s gone, but Chris isn’t exactly… here—not like he used to be.”
Not like he used to be.
Something about the words dig deep in my heart, a sharp sting in my chest making my teeth pierce into my bottom lip.
I remember that feeling—I live that feeling everyday.
My mom and Baylen weren’t always so distant. I remember sleeping in Baylen’s room when I couldn’t sleep, I remember the mountains of legos he’d pull out just to keep me from crying in the middle of the night when I kept having accidents.
It was humiliating. I could never understand why it was so different for me. I’d try so hard, purposefully not drinking water before night just so I wouldn’t wake up in a soaked bed. But it just wouldn’t work. It took me a lot longer to be potty trained. But Baylen made it tolerable. He’d let me sleep in his bed, telling me about his video games until I fell asleep.
I missed that Baylen.
“I get it.” I reply, placing my hand on Matt’s shoulder, gently patting his back with reassurance.
“I don’t know if we’ll be able to switch partners and everything, but I wanna try. Shawn… I know he’s a dick and I’m sorry I pushed you into that situation.” he says.
My eyes squint towards the ground. Matt has always seemed oblivious—even during our double date. He failed to realize how much Shawn made me uncomfortable then. So how does he know now?
Chris.
He saw me through the window. Chris watched me push Shawn away—he saw everything.
My head sways towards the side, my lips pulling into a tight line as I feel my eyes glaze over. “Chris talked to you, didn’t he?” I ask.
Silence.
“Is that the only reason you’re–”
“No!” Matt cuts off, his face turning to mine as he closes his eyes, letting out a shaky breath. “I mean, he talked to me, he told me what he saw with Shawn, but… he’s right. It might’ve taken him screaming at me for shit to actually make me realize, but he’s right. I shouldn’t be so…”
“Controlling?” I huff.
Matt lets out a dry laugh, standing up and offering me a hand. I slide mine in his, my knees locking as I get up. “Yeah, controlling. Now, are we good?” he asks.
I nod, trying to pull my hand back to my side. His grip gets tighter, his hand pulling me closer, his arms wrapping around me in a hug. “Umph–” I let out, my eyes going wide. His embrace is warm, tight, and comforting. The touch brings me reassurance, a wave of peace climbing over me.
It’s okay.
He understands.
My lip gets caught between my teeth. I feel the muscle quiver as I slowly wrap my arms around him, taking in a shaky breath. As I go to pull back, his arms tighten. The movement makes something inside of me crumble, my body fully relaxing as I close my eyes and take in the moment.
“We’re all good. I’m sorry I was being a dick, but we’re still friends, alright?” he remarks.
I nod against him, slowly pulling back as he lets his arms fall. His hands callus around the tops of my arms. He squeezes gently, his eyes gleaming into mine with a certain softness that makes everything feel okay.
“My dad has missed you too. He, uh—he got a bunch of bacon and hashbrowns, just in case you end up spending the night again.” Matt mentions, laughing softly as he brings his hands upward, ruffling his hair. “And he sent me a picture of some movie he wants to watch with you. He literally sent it to me so he wouldn’t forget the name. If you wanna stay and um, watch that with him later.” he says.
A light, feathery feeling flutters in my chest. I feel so cared for, so valued—so understood. “I’d love to.” I announce, smiling as I watch Matt fiddle with the rings on his hand.
He nods affirmatively, clicking his tongue on the roof of his mouth. “Good. He’ll be back from work in a bit. Do you wanna… do wanna see what I’ve been planning for Mia?” he asks.
My eyes burst wide with excitement. I vigorously nod my head, clapping my hands together.
“Okay, but… no judging. Chris already let me know how I’m such a fuckin’ lover-boy. I don’t need that shit from you too.” Matt mutters.
“Show me!” I urge, slapping his arm lightly. “Don’t listen to Chris, he wouldn't know romance if it hit him with a brick. Just—ugh, show me before I slap you!” I exclaim. The slight noise of Matt’s cracked room door creaking open a bit more makes my head turn. Before I can see anything, my eyes dart back to Matt, seeing him holding up a paper flower.
“Awwww, oh my god.” I coo, my hand hesitantly reaching out as I trace over the edge of the paper petals. Matt smiles down at me proudly. My brows furrow as I analyze the petals closer, certain words and letters circled in pen with cute heart shapes.
“Matt.” I gasp, reading the cryptic message as my jaw drops. Each letter circled with a heart;
WILL YOU BE MY GF
“Do you think she’ll like it? It’s from her favorite book.” he says, his words rushed with excitement.
I blink up at him, a sound of disbelief pursing through my lips. “If someone put that much effort into something for me, I’d literally cry. She’ll love it. This is… ugh, so sweet.” I say, pulling my hands back to my chest as I stare down at the flower.
“Thank god. It took me five different tries to even get it to look like a flower.” he says, nudging his head over to the trash can in the corner of his room. A laugh muffles through my lips, the sight of paper scraps pilling over the basket making my chest vibrate with a giggle.
“Anyhow, my dad will be home soon. He usually gets home from work around 6-ish. Do you… do you wanna—”
“You need to catch me up on everything with Mia.” I interrupt.
Matt smiles, his cheeks flushing with a red hue as he pulls out his phone. “She’s—I don’t even know. She’s just perfect. I really, really like her.” he breathes.
His smitten expression makes my heart pound in my chest. Relief and excitement make my body feel incredibly light, my cheeks burning from the smile stuck on my face.
He’s a good person.
I’m glad to have someone like him as a friend.
___
“Do you like it?” Jimmy asks, petting Trevor as we sit on the couch. I nod. The movie is funny, but his laugh is even funnier—especially when he looks over to me, just to make sure I caught the joke.
The past few days have been so lonely. But now I feel like I have everything and more. Well, besides one lingering thought.
Chris.
He talked to Matt. The thought of him yelling at Matt for me makes my chest tighten, my brain looping around endless questions as my teeth gnaw into my lip.
“Alright.” Jimmy sighs, stretching his arms out before relaxing them back into his lap. My eyes float to the screen, end credits scrolling with a lighthearted tune echoing from the speakers. “Now, tell me what’s been going on. I can tell something’s happened and—”
“I don’t really wanna talk about it. I—I wouldn’t even know where to start.” I huff.
“Okay…” he sighs, standing up and rubbing over his face.
The march of steps makes my heart jolt in my chest. I hear keys jingling, looking over to find Matt. My chest falls with a long breath. I’m not sure if it’s disappointment or relief.
“Ready to go?” Matt asks, looking towards his dad.
Jimmy scratches above his brow, his eyes squinting as he stutters. “Uhh…”
“You said you’d take Trev out for a pup cup with me.” Matt says, nodding his head towards the door.
“Oh yeah, yeah. I… sorry, kid.” Jimmy says, patting my shoulder.
My face scrunches as Matt rushes to put the dog’s leash on, his eyes bulging as he ushers Jimmy out the door. As soon as they’re gone, my body stiffens on the couch.
The fuck? What am I supposed to do?
“Hey.”
Chris.
My head turns, my eyes landing on him as he slowly walks towards the back of the couch, resting his elbows on the furniture as he stares down at me. I gulp, my toes cracking as they curl from my body tensing.
“Um… hi?” I remark, my statement sounding like a question as my voice raises in pitch. Chris lets out a dry laugh, licking over his teeth as he spares me a soft smile. His eyes are shifting all around the room, blinking furiously while his fingers pluck at a loose string on the sofa.
Is he… nervous?
I sit up straighter, watching as Chris stands tall, holding out an open hand. My eyes squint at the sight. I feel a hesitant laugh purse through my lips, my head tilting to the side as I analyze his expression.
“What? Do you want my phone again?” I joke.
Chris shakes his head. “No. I was holding my hand out for you, idiot.” he mumbles.
My eyes shift, squinting as I raise a brow at him. “Really? Chris—why would I come with you if you’re calling me an idiot?” I snort, licking over my teeth as I shovel my hands in my lap.
Noticing my lack of movement, Chris sighs, his hand reaching down and grabbing my phone. “Um, excuse me?” I remark, getting up and walking behind him as he marches down the hall and to his room.
His hand lands on the closed door, his fingers grasping the knob as he shoves my phone into his pocket, outreaching his other hand towards me. I look down at his hand, my eyes floating back up as I try to read his expression. His face is a bit paler, his eyes blinking a little more than usual.
My lips curl into a smirk. “Are you—are you nervous?” I ask, confidence boosting my chest as he shakes his head a little too quickly. His brows furrow as I let out a laugh, his knuckles turning white as he grasps the door knob harder.
“I’m not fuckin’ nerv—you know what? I’m trying something here, give me a break.” he breathes.
Licking over my lips, I slide my hand into his, my head tilting further to the side as I feel him gently grasp my hand, his thumb swiveling over the back of my palm.
“Trying what?” I question. The heat from his palm radiating to mine makes me feel a little dizzy. Warmth spreads through my body, the lower part of my stomach curling as he stares into my eyes.
Chris lets out a shaky breath, his hand clutching mine tighter. “I… I’m trying to be romantic or whatever. Just—I’m fuckin’ trying here, okay? I don’t need a damn brick to know how to be all… ugh.” he puffs.
“You’re such a snooper! Oh my god!” I exclaim, my jaw dropping as I connect the dots yet again.
He eavesdropped on me when I was in Matt’s room. I distinctly remember a slight movement from the crack of Matt’s bedroom door when I said Chris wouldn’t know romance if a brick hit his head—or something along those lines.
A brick was definitely involved.
“I’m not a snooper.” he snorts, his tongue prodding his cheek from the inside of his mouth. “I just… wanted to make sure everything went… smoothly—I don’t know, I—”
I grip his hand a little bit tighter, my eyes darting into his. “It’s fine. Honestly, I appreciate it. I wouldn’t have had the guts to scream at Matt and whatever else you had to do.” I say.
Chris licks over his lips, his chest rising and falling with a deep breath. “Yeah, well—I wanted to help. I wanted to, um—to try.” he sighs, his nose scrunching as his face twitches.
The swarm of knots in my gut tightens as he clears his throat. His hand gently holds mine, his other hand pushing open his bedroom door.
Oh. My. God.
My jaw drops at the scene in front of me. I feel Chris tug me forward, my feet stumbling as we make our way inside of his room.
“Is this… okay?” he asks, his teeth nervously chewing on his bottom lip as he stares at me, waiting for a response.
And all I can do is nod with wide eyes.
How hard did a damn brick hit him?

The first lap is always the hardest. The deafening roar of the engines, the heat from the asphalt, and the feeling that every turn could be the last. All of this surrounds you as you watch the start of the race from the grandstands. No matter how many times you've seen it, it's just as exciting. But today, the nerves are different. Today, everything is focused on Ollie.
The green light flashes, and the engines roar as the cars speed off. At the start, Ollie is in P20. The position isn't ideal, and you know he has a long road ahead to get where everyone wants him to be. But it's not the first time he's been in this situation. The difference is that today, something feels different.
You watch him in his car, focused, eyes on the road ahead with a determination that makes you feel that, in some way, he is destined to exceed expectations. His team's car isn't one of the fastest, but Ollie has something the other drivers don't have: his ability to read the track, his patience, and, above all, his ability to stay calm even when everything seems to be against him.
The race clock ticks on, and you wonder how long it will take until you see him take the first turn. The team has hope in him, but to be realistic, the odds aren't in his favor. However, you've always believed Ollie can surprise, that he has something the others don't expect.
In the early laps, he makes his way through the traffic. Every overtaking is a victory. P20 to P18. P18 to P16. Despite the small advances, there's still a long way to go, but something in his driving makes you feel that he has it all under control. He doesn't let the desperation of overtaking quickly drive him, but instead, he goes at his own pace, taking advantage of every opportunity without forcing things.
The radio crackles again, and his engineer's voice rings in your ears.
Engineer: “Ollie, P16, there’s still a long way to go. Stay calm, don’t rush it.”
Ollie nods, his focus unwavering. You know that even though you can't see it, in his mind, he’s analyzing every turn, every overtaking, every change in strategy. There’s something almost magnetic about the way he moves on the track, like time bends around him.
As the laps progress, the group of drivers in the middle of the pack becomes denser. This is where Ollie begins to show his true talent. On a brutal braking maneuver on turn 3, he overtakes two drivers who didn't expect his move. The crowd erupts in applause. The other teams didn't see it coming. Ollie's ability to read the track and anticipate the moves of others puts him in a privileged position.
Engineer: "P12! You’re doing it, Ollie! The top 10 is within reach.”
You, from the stands, feel your whole body tremble. Not only because of the impressive maneuver but because you know him so well. You know this isn’t just luck, that the position he's in now isn’t an accident. Ollie is playing with the others, like a chess player anticipating every move before it happens.
The circuit is a maze of speed, and even though there are other drivers fighting for positions, you can't help but notice how Ollie seems to be in a league of his own. Each overtaking is more calculated than the last. On turn 5, you see a driver blocking the path, but Ollie, with the skill of a professional, takes advantage of the space to overtake without putting his own car at risk. He reaches P11.
Engineer: “P11, Ollie! The top 10 is within reach. Keep the focus.”
The tension rises, and the atmosphere around you becomes almost unbearable. Every time Ollie overtakes another driver, he seems to be closer to achieving what seemed impossible at the start of the race. P20, a disadvantaged position that seemed to dictate the rhythm of his day, now feels like a distant memory, and he’s proving that nothing is impossible.
On the final lap, the weather changes. Some drivers begin to make mistakes under the pressure. One of them slides on a turn, and Ollie seizes the space to overtake them effortlessly. P10 is his. The top 10, the position he had been aiming for all race long, is now a reality.
The checkered flag waves. The crowd erupts in cheers. You've seen it, you've felt it. Ollie, who started so far back, has done what few thought was possible. The car crosses the finish line in P10, and you, among the crowd, feel like you're floating. You’ve lived every second, every lap, every overtaking. You knew he could do it, but seeing him pull it off is an indescribable feeling.
When you finally see him, Ollie is out of the car, sweaty, with a satisfied smile on his face. He quickly walks toward where you are, his breath heavy but his expression relaxed.
“I did it. I made it. P10. Incredible, right?”
You can’t help but smile, his grin is contagious. You see him as a champion, just as you’ve always seen him: unstoppable, determined, but above all, with a heart full of passion for what he does. Sweat drips from his face, but the light in his eyes is what stands out the most. He comes even closer, and you can't resist the urge to hug him, to wrap your arms around him as you sink into the feeling of having lived that moment as intensely as he did.
“I knew it. I knew you’d do it. I always knew you had what it takes to be there.”
You hug him tightly, and for a moment, the whole world seems to stop. The roar of the crowd fades as he, with one hand on your back, holds you and looks you directly in the eyes. There's something in his gaze, something deep, that makes you feel like nothing else matters except this moment.
“Thanks for being there. I wouldn't have made it without you.”
His voice is low, almost a whisper, but clear enough for you to hear. Before you can respond, he pulls you by the waist, and without warning, his lips meet yours in a kiss that’s gentle yet filled with emotion. It’s a kiss of celebration, but also of complicity, of everything you’ve shared together up to this moment.
When you break apart, he looks at you with a mischievous smile, his eyes shining brighter than ever.
“This is just the beginning, you know?”
You, blushing, can’t help but smile too. You feel like everything that has led you here, everything you’ve experienced with Ollie, has been a journey that’s only just beginning.
And in that moment, with the sound of the engines fading and the crowd beginning to disperse, you realize that this isn’t the end of anything. It’s just a new beginning, one that you and Ollie will share.

Female Max Verstappen, Our Little Lioness - F1 Drivers x PlatonicF1Academy! Reader.
Plot: You are in F1 Academy after getting stuck in F3 with no progression so to get onto the scene of bigger teams you join the Academy with Rodin. Your dominance makes people call you the Mini Max Verstappen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You'd grown up in the world of motorsports, your dad being a racing legend and your mum being a MotoGP engineer.
You grew up with heroes like Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton at your doorstep. When you expressed and interest in karting at a young age your dad of course made prepartions to help you into your driving career.
And like most children of F1 drivers you had this natural talent in you. You were beating all the kids in your age range and were asked to move up. However, even with a dad known to the motorsport world people were apprehensive to take on girls in this sport.
You competed in many championships, in the UK, in the US, across Oceania and Asia. It was all a bit of a blur if you were being honest. You'd done as much as you could, in order to get yourself closer to F1. You'd driven Rally you'd done test drives in IndyCar, but getting a place in anything higher than Formula 3 seemed impossible.
So when Suzie Wolff offered you a place in the F1 Academy under an Disney Sponsor. You found it hilarious when a company you genuinely loved was wanting to support you. Your race suit was so cool having an overall Blue Colour same to the Disney + sign. And then there were characters splattered across it, ranging from Mickey to Flounder the Fish.
You loved the car as well having a similar style to your race suit being the same shade of blue. And having the Disney Logo plastered on the side.
F1 Academy was to get young women into the eye of the motorsport media, and that'd exactly what you needed. You were driving at the level of an F2 racer, and hated the fact that no-one would progress you.
So, F1 Academy should get you in the picture.
Your first race was in Jeddah, which you stormed through, winning both races there. Celebrations were great on the podium in Race 1 with, Doriane Pin and Abbi Pulling in P2 and P3 and then Race 2 with Abbi Pulling and Maya Weug on the podium with you.
You and Abbi were the same age, both 21 and you'd competed in some other championships with her before when you were younger. So sharing a podium with her twice on the first race was very special.
You were close with all the girls in the F1 Academy but none of them had seen you race and were shocked with the 13 second gap on both your races.
After that and some testing in Germany, it was time for Miami. The minute you touched down on American Soil from Lewis' jet you were so excited. You flew out the week early and Disney as your sponsors drove you up to Orlando with Abbi and Jessica as your teammates in Rodin.
You spent the week before the race going to each park and filming it for content for both Disney, as your sponsor, AMEX where you used an American Express Credit Card for each purchase you guys made as Jessica's sponsor and obviously stuff for Alpine as Abbi's.
You were out of qualifying when Lia Block spun out and went into your car from a bump on track that was later investigated and starting from P16, right at the back of the grid.
You ended up coming P3, still on the podium having made some insane over-takes and had incredible tire management throughout which made it so that you only needed one pit-stop unlike the others with two.
When it came to the second race however, you won as your second fastest lap had been allowed, so sharing a podium with Bianca and Amna. You were very close with the two of them, despite having different sponsors and being from different teams, you guys all gelled really well.
You'd left Miami in P1 of the Drivers Championship with 92 points.
Then you were invited to the Monaco Grand Prix, it was an exciting opportunity where you got to meet a lot of the drivers and constructures who knew who you were.
You also got to meet some of the current F2 drivers, people who hoped would maybe be driving with you next year. Ollie Bearman was the kindest, expressing how driving in F1 was and that it was such an exciting opportunity for him and there were talks of him going to Haas next year to prepare him for the Ferrari seat.
Then you joined the F1 group in Barcelona. It was a circuit you'd driven at before in real life. Not just online in a sim.
However, despite the June sunshine it rained and the hadn't called the flag early enough for visibility. You didn't anticipate how early Lena was going to break and you ended up skidding off into the gravel to avoid her and your race was over, no points in race one for you.
However, despite that it was still raining and you managed to come P1.
In Zandvoort you had won both your races with a 15 second time gap behind you in race one and a 8 second gap in race 2. It was a straining track however, one of your best and you'd proven that.
It was at that point that you had three teams come to you. All of them were F1 Academy teams and were proposing 2025 F2 racing for you. You'd done F3, and yes F1 Academy was a downgrade because the car was slower, but you saw no other way to get yourself on the scene.
And it was working splendidly.
Rodin, your current team, Prema and Campos had all asked if you had any 2025 plans. They were to attempt finding a way into Endurance, Rally or do F3 again, but ... F2.
You accepted the offer to take Zane Maloney's seat who was, by this point pretty set to win the championship. Good Car, Good Driver.
It was said to be annonced in Singapore that you would move into F2, and you were so excited. However, you were made to sign an NDA and couldn't tell anyone about it. You were bursting at the seems to tell someone, anyone. It was such exciting news.
Singapore came, and it was announced on media day that you'd signed a contract with Rodin Motorsport and would be promoted to F2 finally.
"Lewis, what do you think on Y/N Y/L/N moving to F2, after this F1 Academy Season?" an interviewer asks and he smiles.
"I think that F1 Academy is doings it's job really well. I've been watching Y/N for a while and it's definitely long overdue getting her into F2!" he smiles.
"And what do you think on her being referred to as the female Max Verstappen? A lioness?" he asks further making Lewis laugh.
"I'd agree with that statement, she's very strong, very dominant in F1 academy like she was in F3 where she won her championship. I think seeing her in F2 and getting her to that step closer to F1, it's important" he smiles.
"Thank you Lewis, oh here lets talk to Max! Max!" the interviewer shouts over your male counterpart.
"Hello!" he nods fixing his Red Bull hat.
"We wanted to talk to you about Y/N Y/L/N!" he asks and Max looks confused for a second.
"Oh, the Academy Driver?" he asks rubbing the towel across his face from the humidity of Singapore.
"Yes! Did you hear the news of her being promoted to F2!" he asks and Max nods.
"Yeah, I'm proud of her and a lot of people don't know it yet, but she's got lots of F1 teams fighting to get them onto their driver academy. I'd love to have her as in the Red Bull Academy, to mentor her ... as my mini me" he smiles and the interviewers nods before talking to him about the weekend ahead.
"Lando, Oscar. Hello, how are you?!"
"Hello!" Lando grins cheesily, and Oscar nods politely.
"We've just been going round asking people about the current news going around the paddock!" the interviewer asks to see if the McLaren boys are keeping up with the latest news in the paddock.
"About Y/N?" Oscar smiles happily. He and Y/N were pretty close. They'd met at a race and Y/N had ended up stealing Lily for most of the day as they watched the race and ate food. Her and Lily became really close friend after that so it wasn't uncommon for him to see you around.
"Yes! Thoughts?"
"Well, I think it just goes to show how well the F1 Academy is working to promote these young female drivers and it makes me proud of my sport that we are moving forward this way. Y/N is an insane driver and I could see her joining F1 in the next few years as and when a seat comes up. I think getting her into F2 now is really really important and I'm proud of her and everything she's doing!" Lando explains.
"I agree with Lando, it's really important her making these connections and I think she's so loved on the motorsport community that even if she doesn't make it to F1 there will be other top driving series that will be gunning for her. I hope she does get into F1 though!"
He then heads over to Carlos who smiles kindly.
"Hello Carlos!" the interviewer asked looking towards him.
"Hello, how are you!" he asks politely.
"We've been talking to your colleagues about Y/N Y/L/N!" he replied cheerily forcing the mic closer to the Spanish man.
"Ahhh she has done well, no?" he smiles thinking of the cheeky young girl that always brought him a small Tupperware box of Chili Peppers whenever they had race crossovers.
"Yes, we've had a lor of people talk about her driving ability but she's always quite cheeky with you, am i right in saying that?" he asks and Carlos laughs.
"Ahhh yes Y/N is a funny girl. She deserves everything that she has worked for thus far and more, and one day I hope i am still around in F1 to race alongside her" he nods before his PR team usher him off.
"DANIELLLLL" the interviewer shouts having to have the other Aussie in his segment before he was cut short.
"Heyyy what's up mate!" he says with his big smile, that makes anyone feel like melted honey.
"Just wanted to see if you were aware of the news of Y/N Y/L/N!" he asks and Daniel's smile widens even more.
"Oh she's a great driver right. She deserves that place in F2, and I think this is a really good step for her and other women in motorsport, I'm excited to see her progression from her onwards!" he smiles.
You watched each interview of the F1 drivers talking about you and it made tears come to your eyes, just the kind words spoken by your future colleagues and competition... it doesn't get better than that.

(Save the Watcher p16)
_No no, let Mumbo explain, it would be funnier._
Mumbo: What!? No!
Grian: No, no, I agree.
Mumbo: But why??
Scar: It's a bit funny to see you panic dude.
Mumbo: ... Fine!
*Mumbo begins searching for something*
Mumbo: I had my notes on it, they could help with explaining. But will they even be able to see them??
Scar: You mean these notes?
*Scar holds a diary in his hand*
Mumbo: Where did you- ugh, nevermind. Well then, let's go.
Mumbo Jumbo's notes on Grian's...moods.
Mumbo: So, as you all know, part of Grian's ascension was connecting with... uh all other hims.
Scar: It's the whole reason he was so ready to destroy Hermitcraft during that last fight.
Mumbo: Right, well, he's somehow managed to keep his personality in the process but sometimes he gets into what I call "moods". A lot of Grian's in the multiverse have roles in common and sometimes as a result of his connection to them our Grian starts to lean into one of those roles.
Scar: You can tell by the eyes though when it hapoens.
Mumbo: Which is why I made a chart. The names are a work in progress though, I'm not good at making up them so I named them after what I associate with them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mumbo: Well, as you can see regular is...well, regular. That's the Grian we know, even when other hims influence him he still acts mostly normal.
Scar: The other's are a bit hard to explain.
Mumbo: Xelqua is cold mostly, the classic stereotypical Watcher. There are a lot of Watcher Grians in the multiverse after all. Flirty is ehm... You guys make a lot of universes constantly...some of them by writing about Grian getting it on with someone, sometimes that someone is a whole server of people. Sometimes It's mobs too...
Grian: It's called smut, polyhermits and monsterfucking respectively...
Wait, why do I know that?... Oh, one of the Grians is a really big part of fandom. A weird universe where fans and cc's are swapped.
Mumbo: That's...interesting?? I guess???
Scar: Then there's hero! Cute guy, Poultryman, Pesky Bird... There's a lot in the multiverse. Self righteous, crime-fighting, sense of duty to civilians.
Mumbo: Knight is similiar but a lot more loyal and his duty is less towards the many and more towards an ideal or an individual. Then there's chaotic... he's not exactly stable, I have to imagine what the eyes would look like because we haven't actually ever seen Grian go full chaotic...everytime chaotic comes out it always happens with another.
Scar: We have seen chaotic-hero, chaotic-flirty, chaotic-xelqua... It's weird isn't it?
Mumbo: A bit... Griever and Winner are another pair. A lot of Grians have lost so much-
*Grian's eyes flash a mix of red and blue*
Grian: The golden sand of the desert is covered in blood, no matter how much you wash your hand it sticks to you, you can't clean it off no matter how much you scrub and scrub. Eventually the skin peels of your hands and still it does not satisfy your-
Scar: Grian! Breathe!
*the colour fades*
Grian: I- yeah... yeah.
Mumbo: And THAT is what happens when they both come out.
Scar: ... Angsty is prettty similar too.
Mumbo: ... I yeah. Griever is sad and Winner is angry and Angsty is scared and avoidant and self-deprecating...but in the end they have the same roots.
Grian: And then there's...kind? Really that's how you called it?
Scar: I mean, It's true.
Mumbo: I agree mate, It's the best way to explain it. Unless fatherly would suit you better?... Tought so. Kind is...
...Well, sometimes in a universe a certain Tommyinnit will escape from his dreadful server and find himself in the kind and caring arms of a Grian that was created only to comfort Tommy. Sometimes a creator really likes to torture anothed hermit and Grian will added to be the comfort to the hurt inflicted. Sometimes Jimmy is the poor victim of the mean and rude emperors and Grian rescues him with hugs. Kind is kind, that's all he is... I don't like it when Grian leans into that kind of flatness.
...
Scar: ... Well then.
Grian: That was emotionally charged.
Mumbo: ... Tranquil and divine are the last two. The first one is just calm, unnervingly so, the other is lighthearted... Takes everything as a game while also being petty and prideful.
Scar: And uh, sometimes they mix and stuff. Chaotic-kind is my favourite. Outside of regular Grian of course.
Mumbo: ... I might dislike full kind but it mixes well. Knight-Hero is the best mix though.
Scar: What!? Nope, no, wrong.

Note
Checo now starts p16 with the Haas penalty, doesn't he, which means one RBR teammate has to make up 6 places to win and the other has to make up 6 places to get in the points, what a weekend we're having
Yeah it's not great for them. This is a weird track and the RB20 seems it's not made any progress in terms of the street circuit performance, in fact it may have taken a step backwards, or sideways???
But the most places I believe anyone has ever made up to win in Monaco is 8, and that was due to a lot of DNFs at the front of the field. Doing it on pit strategy alone is essentially impossible. And while if there is anyone who could overtake in Monaco it would be Max(also Charles/Lewis) I do not see him overtaking 6 times. So maybe he makes up a place or two in the pits.
Checo, might also make some places up that way. But oh it's a rough weekend for that team.

Back-to-back glory for Alonso
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David Alonso (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team), take a bow. The young Colombian takes his third victory in four races after beating Jaume Masia (Leopard Racing) and Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in a phenomenal Moto3™ battle at the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini. The top three crossed the line 0.2s apart as World Championship leader Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) struggled to P16, blowing the title race wide open. It was Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) who got the best launch from the middle of the front row as the Japanese star grabbed the holeshot into Turn 1, but Masia immediately responded to take the lead at Turn 4. Kaito Toba (SIC58 Squadra Corse) lost ground on the first lap, he was shoved down to P5 as Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets – MSI) and Alonso made forward progress. Masia held a 0.6s advantage on Lap 2 as Sasaki and Moreira squabbled for second place. The lead was up to a second heading onto Lap 3, with the chasing pack needing to settle down and work together to try and reel in the early runaway leader. However, settling down isn’t something Öncü can do. The Turk shoved his way past Moreira and set his sights on catching Masia. By Lap 6 of 20, Öncü and Moreira had bridged the gap. Sasaki, David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports), Alonso and Toba were a further 0.7s adrift, with World Championship leader Holgado battling outside the top 10. With 12 laps left, a lead group of seven had formed with Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) tagging onto the back of the battle in P8 and P9. Lap 11 of 20 saw the lead change for the first time as Masia went from P1 to P3 in the blink of an eye, with Öncü now at the front. With seven laps remaining, a top four of Öncü, Masia, Muñoz and Alonso had gapped Moreira, Sasaki, Toba, Veijer and Rueda. The front quartet were two seconds up the road, with Holgado still P11 and over a second off tenth place Ivan Ortola (Angeluss MTA Team). It was bubbling up nicely for a final lap spectacular in Misano. The top four was as you were for a few laps before Muñoz had a big front-end moment at Turn 2 – the Spaniard did well to keep it upright but lost P3 to Alonso. Heading onto the final lap, Öncü led from Masia and Alonso, with Muñoz 0.6s adrift in P4. Alonso slammed in the fastest lap of the race as we strapped in for a last-lap thriller. It stayed the same through the first half of the lap before Alonso grabbed P2 at Turn 10. Then on the run into Turn 14, Masia pocketed a two-for-one deal. It was a cracking move but Alonso returned the favour on the cutback and managed to hold onto the lead all the way to the flag. The Colombian beat Masia by 0.036s to P1 with Öncü settling for P3 having led for most of the second half of the race. Muñoz bounced back from his Catalan GP disappointment with a solid P4, as Veijer takes home a top five after showing great late race pace. Japan’s Toba and Sasaki crossed the line in P6 and P7 respectively, with Ortola doing well to claim P8 after being shoved well wide in the early exchanges. Rueda and Romano Fenati (Rivacold Snipers Team) rounded out the top 10, as Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), Moreira, Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team), Ryusei Yamanaka (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) and Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Racing) rounded out the points. For Holgado, P16 is what the Spaniard has to swallow in Misano. The #96 remains the title leader, but his gap has been cut to just four points ahead of the inaugural Grand Prix of India. The top six – Holgado, Sasaki, Masia, Öncü, Alonso and Ortola – are split by just 29 points now. It’s game on in the Moto3™ title race! Joins us for more in India! Evaluation:
This project has been a rollercoaster if I’m being honest. I have really enjoyed working with Katherine and Kieran but I think that we all agree that next time maybe we don’t work as a group as even though as friends it’s great, the three of us have comping skills as our main strength we decided that maybe if we support each other and do separate projects.
Anyway, I really feel that I have learnt so much from this project I am happy with the overall product, I know for a fact that I have learnt some valuable lessons throughout this. I think that the pre-production work really opened my eyes, such as writing the script, dealing with actors and other things.
I was a bit disappointed with a few things in the project such as the filming process and mainly the fact that I didn’t use Nuke. I used nuke to test out some footage but not for the final thing. I found myself more focused on the glitches and the overall edit of the trailer than advancing my Nuke skills.
Next project I think I want to tone down my production side and work on just one or two shots and comp them in nuke as this is something I missed in this work. Overall though, I am happy with how we worked as a team as we didn’t have any drama between the three of us, only with external circumstances.
I’m sad to be finishing second year as it feels as if it has gone very quickly but I’m excited for the future and third year to develop my skills even more.

A discussion about screentime: the tale of the dark horse and the main vocal
In a show with nearly 100 trainees at the beginning the screen time is a rare commodity. Why focus on this trainee and not on another? In itself the question of the distribution of screen time is interesting. But that's not the topic I want to talk about here. During the show they showcase some trainee in particular. But those trainees are sometime abandoned during the show runtime. What are their reasons for stopping giving their attention and screen time to a trainee ? Now that the show is over we can try to see their vision. That's why I want to discuss this specific topic about them stopping caring about trainees throughout the show. Hui is a great example of how they showcase a trainee early on for views and generate interest for the show: a sad backstory, lots of cliffhangers right before his performances... but all that fades as the season progresses.
I want to deal with this topic by comparing two cases: 1) one where I understand why they dropped this trainee ; 2) the opposite case where I absolutely don't understand why they do that.
As the title suggest i want to speak about Jongwoo and Jay. Just to be clear there are other trainees who can be referred to as dark horse or main vocal on Boys Planet, it was just a more appealing way to phrase the title of this post. As hard to said as a Jongwoo one pick i will explain why i think they stop caring the same way about him after the second round. In a second part we will speak about Jay and why i still don't understand why happen to him, how he go from a main vocal contender to be absolutely abandoned by the show.
Since the beginning of the show he always have a bit of screen time each episode. Progressively his screen time increases. He went from a one star to the center of Back Door in the first round. And for the second mission, he was the main character of the home team storyline. But then for the third mission his screen time is minimal. He can't be an important character all the time but his screen time has really decreased. The problem is also how they handle his storyline this round. The first episode of this arc show him defeated after being kicked out. He lost his confidence. The problem is not showcase him having negative emotion it's they didn't give any resolution to it. In the next episode he still seem defeated. And it's not like he didn't perform well (Side note: he's not the only one they do this to Keita too, showing him only defeated). And the last blow was when they forget to put him on the thumbnail of the performance (they realized their mistake few hours later but still).
Tumblr media
So what happened? It's bittersweet to say that it's during the second mission that started his downfall in a way. Before that his ranking always increases. In the second mission : he have his big storyline moment, his performance shown in the first episode of the mission and at the end of that same episode, in the interim ranking, he is revealed to be P16. Everything is good right? During the elimination, he places P15 meaning his ranking increases by only one place. That means he stagnating in the ranking, even with all the highlight he got, he can't go higher. And sadly he didn't go higher. So from their view point it can be understable they drop him and his screen time, his ranking didn't match their expectation.
Tumblr media
Before the last ranking i was questioning where Jongwoo was in the interim ranking during the third mission. Only the P 6-7 and P 14-18 where revealed. So was he higher than P 14 or below the cut off ? With the last ranking we can assume that he was probably behind the cut off. And that would explain the editing around him during the third round. For them, he was going to be eliminated anyway so why give him screen time? (if that true it's mean that he rise from at least four place in a week) To end on a positive note Jongwoo part, at least he made it to the final and showed that he has regained his self-confidence. And ironically he have a lot of screen time in the final.
Now it's time to talk about the biggest change in terms of screen time : Jay. How many times did they replay his hight note from Love Me Right ? During the first round he was clearly showcase as a potential main vocal. And in the first elimination, he enters the top 9 in the last spot. During the second round, he did not stand out so much during the performance and goes out of the top 9 the second elimination. Third round, he is in the winning time but at the last place. The editing in the performance was weird to say the least, they didn't properly show him during his high note. It's the polar opposite with the LMR performance. And his rank keeps dropping.
Tumblr media
So it's the seem it's the same story as Jongwoo ? Only on the surface, looking at the ranking but it's much deeper and less understandable. They stop pushing him since the second round but it was what happened in the last round that confused me the most. They gave us a interim ranking showing only three rank (P3-10-11). During the period voting of the final live they didn't show any rank (unlike GP999). And who end up in the P10 at the end : Jay. If all the speculation are true and he was P9 during the interim what happened between the first round and the final ? It's so weird. I can't thinks of anything to explain what happened to him. I can understand what happened to Jongwoo. In Jongwoo case, it was the lack of following that drove them to drop him but Jay ending at P10 almost in the debut group had that following. So what happened ?! And i understand that who they wanted for the final group can change during the show. Still looking back at the beginning of the show it's day and night. And they replayed one last time LMR high note in the final. I wanted to compare these two cases because in one case we can understand what happened but not in the other.
So that's all for my wanderings. I just needed to express those thoughts. To conclude, ironically for the both of them the start of all of this happened during the second round with the Home performance.
Tumblr media
And it's my favorite performance of the show.

'Painful is an understatement' Ricciardo left disappointed after 'tough' P16 outing in Austin
A downbeat Daniel Ricciardo was again left looking for answers after another tough weekend that saw him take the chequered flag at the United States Grand Prix in a lowly 16th place. Ricciardo started the race in 15th and struggled to make much progress in the early stages as he pitted from 13th after his first stint, making the switch from the medium to the hard tyre. The McLaren racer then made steady progress through the field as he made his way up to P11. But he found it tough to make an impression in his final stint as he ran at the back of the field for much of the last part of the race, eventually coming home in 16th, much to his disappointment. READ MORE: Norris relieved after 'incredibly difficult' run to P6 after battling with Alonso in Texas “We can greet each other, then we can say 'bye'. That’s about it, the in between, I have no idea, I have no idea what to say,” Ricciardo told our reporter when asked about his frustrating day. “Honestly, it’s been 2022, the year that it’s been, just so far off the pace – I can’t lean on it, can’t push, can’t get the time out of it. “Also, the inconsistency throughout the lap times, it shows it really is a struggle but to have such a big margin again, it remains a mystery so yeah. I love Texas, I love Austin but that race for me was not enjoyable.” P16 Daniel Ricciardo couldn't 'lean' or 'push' on his McLaren at COTA He continued: “I hoped today was going to be better. I really thought after yesterday we had a bit more to show but it was really tough today. I could tell from early on in the race that it was going to be tricky. We unfortunately just didn’t have the grip. I couldn’t really push the car like I could see the others around me doing, so it was just a struggle.” READ MORE: ‘It was my mistake’ admits Bottas as he rues spinning out of US GP on a day 'points were possible' When asked whether Austin was a reflection of his form throughout 2022 he said: “Yeah, when you think it can’t get worse, it does. I don’t know how I’m continuing to continue because painful is an understatement. “We’ll keep our chin up and try to find a way. Obviously, days like this are pretty painful to try to deal with and understand as we put a lot of effort in but didn’t get rewarded. We’ll keep going.” McLaren will now head to Mexico fifth in the championship, having closed the gap to Alpine, in fourth, to six points. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

TAFAKKUR: Part 393
ISLAM AND SCIENCE: Part 2
Certainly, the use of observation and reason together - upon which all science is founded - is enjoined again and again by the Qur'an:
Verily, in the creation of the heavens and of the earth. and the succession of night and day: and in the ships that speed through the sea with what is useful to man; and in the waters which God sends down from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after it has been lifeless, and causing all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon; and in the change of the winds; and the clouds that run their appointed courses between sky and earth; (in all this) there are messages indeed for people who use their reason. (al-Baqara, 2.164).
(The passage above is quoted from Asad's 1980 translation. For other passages that join observation of the world with the command to think, see 6.96-9; 10.5-6; 24.44; 25.45. 63; 30.22; 31.29; 39.5; 88.17-20)
Numerous such passages indicate that the Islamic attitude toward modern science which employs a rational and empirical method of studying natural phenomena - called in the Qur'an the 'signs' (ayat) of God - is very positive.
However, while the Qur'an exhorts human beings to make use ol their reason (aql) to understand God's creation, it strongly condemns the absolutizing of anything human. In this regard, the attitude of Islam toward modern science differs significantly from attitudes which have prevailed in the modern West, that is since the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution. Modern science has been mystified, even deified, accorded a nearly limitless power and potential to change nature through human technology. This (mainly Western) attitude, of course, finds no support in normative Islam which insists that only God is God, and human knowledge is necessarily (severely) limited. While also admiring the dedication and achievements of Western scientists, some modern Muslim thinkers have also pointed forcefully to the limitations of Western science. Iqbal (1962).
There is no doubt that the theories of science constitute trustworthy knowledge, because they are verifiable and enable us to predict and control the events of Nature. But we must not forget that what is called science is not a single systematic view of Reality. It is a mass of sectional views of Reality - fragments of a total experience which do not seem to fit together. Natural Science deals with matter, with life, and with mind; but the moment you ask the question how matter life, and mind are mutually related, you begin to see.... the inability of these sciences, taken singly, to furnish a complete answer to your question. In fact, the various natural sciences are like so many vultures falling on the dead body of Nature, and each running away with a piece of its flesh. Nature as the subject of science is a highly artificial affair, and the artificiality is the result of the selective process to which science must subject her in the interests of precision. The moment you put the subject of science in the totality of human experience it begins to disclose a different character.. Natural Science is by nature sectional; it cannot, if it is true to its own nature and function, set up its theory as a complete view of Reality. The concepts we use in the organization of knowledge are, therefore, sectional in character and their application is relative to the level of experience to which they are applied. The concept of 'cause' for instance, the essential feature of which is priority to the effect, is relative to the subject- matter of physical science which studies one special kind of activity to the exclusion of other forms of activity observed by others. When we rise to the level of life and mind, the concept of 'cause' fails us, and we stand in need of concepts of a different order of thought. The action of living organisms, initiated and planned in view of an end, is totally different from causal action. The subject matter of our inquiry, therefore, demands that the concepts or 'ends' and 'purpose' which act from within unlike the concept of 'cause' which is external to the effect and acts from without.
Certain mechanical concepts, perhaps useful for the purposes of scientific inquiry, are not appropriate for a comprehensive understanding of life. Iqbal quotes the well- known biologist, J.S. Haldane, who explains how mechanical causality cannot explain, for instance, self-maintenance and reproduction in a living organism. When an event is explained in mechanical terms it is stated as the necessary result of certain simple properties of separate parts interacting in that event. For a mechanical explanation the reacting parts must first be given. The idea of a 'mechanism' which constantly maintains or reproduces its own structure is self- contradictory, for such a mechanism would be a mechanism without parts and, therefore, not a mechanism. It is, thus, not possible to apply static concepts to vital processes.
Like such great thinkers of Islam as al-Ghazali and al-Rumi, Iqbal believed 'that Reality is inexpressible purely in terms of reason and science. This is not to deny the import of the latter. Whatever view of man, universe and God we ultimately arrive at, it must, Iqbal thinks, be one in which the data of science are accounted for, one in which the demands of reason for coherence are met. Yet below and above the level of science there is that which man knows simply because he feels it and intuits it' (Whitemore, 1962, p16). The seat of the intuitive faculty, according to Iqbal, is the 'heart' (qalb) which 'sees' and its reports, if interpreted, are never false' (Iqbal, 1962, p.16): there is support for this in the Qur'an (see al-Sajdah, 32.7-9).
From the perspective of Islam, modem sciences, theoretical or applied, 'natural' or 'social', must be pursued and developed within the framework of Qur'anic teachings about the purpose of creation and life. What God has created has been created, not in sport or in vain, but for a serious purpose upon which humankind should reflect:
Verily in the creation of the heavens and of the earth, and in the succession of the night and the day are signs for men of understanding, who, standing and sitting and reclining, bear God in mind and reflect on the creation of the heavens and of the earth, and say: 'O our Lord! Thou hast not created this it in vain' (Al 'Imran, 3.191-2; see also al-Dukhan, 44.38-9).
To man, created in 'the best of moulds' (95.4), God has given, as well as his senses and faculties, reason and intuition, guidance in the form of the Revelation, so that he can discharge his responsibility as God's vicegerent upon the earth. By means of their gifts, human beings enjoy a qualified dominion over the world, as the following verses of the Qur'an indicate:
Are you not aware that God has made subservient to you all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, and has lavished upon you His blessings, both outward and inward? (Luqman, 31.20)
And He has subjected to you the night and the day the sun and the moon, and the stars too are subject to you by His behest; verily in this are signs for those who understand. (al-Nahl, 16.12)
However, this power bestowed by God must be regarded as a sacred trust from God and exercised with humility and justice. While the Qur'an holds before man the glorious hope of 'Towards God is thy limit' (al-Najm, 53.42), it also recognizes the human propensity toward self-centredness and arrogance and reminds human beings of their lowly origin and their vulnerability to becoming the 'lowest of the low'.
So long as human beings remain subservient to God and faithful to God's purpose in creating the universe, they will not succumb to the temptation of deifying themselves or their achievements. We have seen how the uncritical adulation of the march of science in the last two centuries has given way, in our times, to an awareness of the deep moral problems within its 'progress'. While human beings have learnt much of value from the modern scientists, recent history has shown that when the modern sciences have developed within a non-holistic 'secular' framework, they have led to devastation of the earth and selfish exploitation or enslavement of God's creatures.
There is no question that science and technology are necessary for Muslim societies to meet the formidable challenges of the massive poverty and illiteracy which they face. That there is support for scientific inquiry and technological progress in the sources of Islam has been amply demonstrated. What needs to be stressed, in conclusion, is that it is possible for Muslims to overcome the dichotomies of Western thought which separate science and religion, or reason and faith, by grounding their lives, and the knowledge they seek and acquire, in the holistic vision of the Qur'an. In the history of Islam, most outstanding scientists have been persons of deep faith whose scientific quest was sustained by their belief that the effort to understand God's creation, and to participate in creating a better world, was a form of worship ('ibadat). Both Islam's text and its revered traditions encourage present-day Muslim men and women to seek scientific knowledge, for the material betterment of their societies and also for the fulfillment of God's larger purpose for creation

10 days into Black garlic. So far so good. It's now got the dark brown color and gummy bear texture that means you can start getting some of the benefits it provides through the "Milliard effect" where it produces more of the chemical: S-Allyl-L-cysteine. Here's a bit more on the chemical;
Tumblr media
What is S-Allyl-L-cysteine?
S-Allyl L-cysteine (SAC), according to Wikipedia, is a sulfur containing amino acid that is a natural constituent of fresh garlic. It is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine in which an allyl group has been added to the sulfur atom. However, there are far more S-Allyl-L-cysteine in black garlic than fresh garlic.
Source of S-Allyl-L-cysteine
S-Allyl L-cysteine is found to be in fresh white garlic and aged black garlic. Researchers have found that black garlic has twice the antioxidants of fresh garlic, which appears to also be a result of the curing process. You may not able to find S-Allyl-L-cysteine in other sources except fresh white garlic and aged black garlic. However, Black garlic has a higher concentration of s-allycycteine (SAC), which is thought to play a major role in its overall health benefits. S-Allylmercaptocysteine (SAMC) also has the same effects, while S-Allyl-L-cysteine is more stable, safer and better enteric solubility. Allyl cysteine is currently being investigated as a potential cholesterol lowering agent and as a chemopreventive. Studies have shown numerous healthful properties of SAC including helping to lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of cancer.
Mechanism of action of S-Allyl-L-cysteine
How does S-Allyl-L-cysteine work? There is no so much information out there for reference. We will update the latest information for S-Allyl-L-cysteine ingredient. The data for S-Allyl-L-cysteine available is as follow: during aging process, unstable compounds of fresh garlic including alliin are converted into stable compounds including s-allyl cysteine (SAC), the water-soluble compound with potent antioxidant effect. It was reported that aged black garlic showed stronger antioxidant activity in vitro than garlic. In the previous study, we reported that consumption of diet containing 5% aged black garlic improved insulin resistance, decreased serum total cholesterol and triglyceride, and increased HDL-cholesterol levels in db/db mice. Therefore, aged black garlic could be more useful than garlic in prevention of diabetic complications.
S-Allyl-L-cysteine works as an antioxidant agent: Inhibits reperfusion-induced HIF-1α, VEGF, and MMP-9 upregulation. Shows selective neuroprotective effects against amyloid β-protein-induced cell death. Shows anti-ischemic effects in vivo. Orally active.
Health Benefits of S-allyl cysteine (SAC)
S-allyl-L-cysteine is exclusively found in fermented black garlic extract and fresh garlic with antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-hepatotoxic, neuro-protective and neurotrophic activity. S-allyl-L-cysteine has potent activity in several animal models of ischemic injury and Alzhemer′s disease.
S-allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) on blood glucose
Strong evidence found that fresh garlic lowers blood glucose. In the study to evaluate the possible protective effects of S-allyl cysteine (SAC) on the antioxidant defense system of pancreas in streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetes in rats by Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, indicated that tlevels of glucose, TBARS and enzymatic antioxidants were altered in diabetic rats. These alterations were reverted back to near control levels after the treatment of SAC. The antidiabetic and antioxidant effect of SAC was compared with glyclazide, a well-known hypoglycemic drug
S-allyl-L-cysteine as a garlic-derived antioxidant
In the study to evaluate the effect of a garlic-derived compound and well-characterized free radical scavenger, S-allylcysteine, on quinolinic acid-induced striatal neurotoxicity and oxidative damage, by Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía Manuel Velasco Suárez, showed that administration of 300 mg/kg of this compound to rats decreased effectively the quinolinic acid-induced oxidative injury measured as striatal reactive oxygen species formation (P < 0.01) and lipid peroxidation (P < 0.05). S-Allylcysteine (300 mg/kg) also prevented the striatal decrease of copper/zinc-superoxide dismutase activity (P < 0.05) produced by quinolinate. In addition, S-allylcysteine, at the same dose tested, was able to reduce the quinolinic acid-induced neurotoxicity evaluated as circling behavior (P < 0.01) and striatal morphologic alterations. In summary, S-allylcysteine ameliorates the in vivo quinolinate striatal toxicity by a mechanism related to its ability to: (a) scavenge free radicals; (b) decrease oxidative stress; and (c) preserve the striatal activity of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn-SOD)
S-allyl-L-cysteine and diabetes
Iron may play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. In the study to investigate the effects of S-allylcysteine (SAC), a sulphur containing amino acid derived from garlic on the changes in iron metabolism induced by oxidative stress in tissues, as well as on serum biochemical parameters of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats by the Centre for Biological Science, K.S. Rangasamy College of Arts and Science, found that S-allylcysteine could have a protective effect against alterations in oxidative stress induced iron metabolism in the diabetic state which was evidenced by the capacity of this natural antioxidant to modulate parameters of iron metabolism.
S-allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) inhibits Oral tumour progression
Studies have indicated that an increase in the osteopontin (OPN) plasma level is correlated with the progression of oral cancer. According to the study by the Taipei Medical University, the SAC-mediated suppression of cyclin D1 protein was associated with an augmented expression of the cell-cycle inhibitor p16(Ink4). Furthermore, SAC inhibited the expression of cyclo-oxygenase-2, vimentin and NF-κB p65 (RelA).
S-Allylcysteine (SAC) antihypertensive and cardioprotective effects
In the study to investigate the role of fresh garlic homogenate (FGH) and its bioactive sulphur compound S-allyl cysteine sulphoxide (SACS) in potentiating antihypertensive and cardioprotective activities of captopril in rats, showed that combined therapy of garlic (250 mg/kg) with captopril(CAP) demonstrated higher synergistic action than combination of SACS (0.222 mg/kg) with CAP suggesting the role of additional bioactive constituents apart from SACS, responsible for therapeutic efficacy of garlic. Moreover, combination of SACS and CAP exerted super-additive (synergistic) interaction with respect to fall in blood pressure and ACE inhibition.

Methodology
To get my garlic to this texture and color I used the rice cooker method. Very simple of placing a bunch of bulbs unpeeled or crushed leave as is, close rice cooker and leave on the "keep warm" function for over a week totaling from 14 days or 21 tops if you want them to be more gummy texture or more for a drier darker consistency likely providing more and different enzymes, antioxidants, and amount of the main chemical components that give garlic its immunomodulatory functions. I just tried 3 myself and it definitely had an initially sweet sour taste, a little bitter but a formidable difference in taste and effects, mildler and easier to snack on.

It just occurred to me that the first time i ever encountered a content warning of some kind was in fanfiction. And you may now be thinking yeah because fanfic is progressive etc. But. You know what they were for? Same sex ships. This fic is gay. Don't like it? Don't read it. I think that did something. That and the age ratings which were like this:
P6; P12; P12 slash; P16; P16 slash; P18; P18 slash.
And obviously i thought the slash meant it places somewhere between the two age restrictions. The thought that gay stuff needed an extra agree rating didn't occur to me. So I was scared of a lot of gay fanfic because instead of being rated as P16 it was rated as P16 slash and I didn't want to read porn because I was 12. It didn't even occur to me that the slash didn't mean more explicit.. i just think it's messed up is all.
And i mean I'm grateful for all the gay content but yeah times really were different like 9 to 7 years ago huh. I really am old now what. Insane.
