thinking about the elections tonight... bad, cellbit, baghera, and forever are four candidates who are devoted to the island- more specifically, to the residents of the island. They care for the eggs, and they care for each other, and the way they exhibit that care through their primary presidential strategies is fucking fascinating.
Bad is who I watch the most, so I know him best. He's a classic mother hen. He doesn't like to take risks with the eggs, and he likes to prepare. If there's any sort of variable that could hurt an egg then he wants to control it. They have a stable relationship with the federation right now- it's not great, but they know the parameters. Don't trust cucurucho. don't follow cucurucho. send the eggs to NINHO every time there's a threat. the time of day changing means you need to run. Other than that they're p okay and roughly safe. But adding a president could potentially change everything. What if the president makes a rule that makes it easier to kill the eggs? And what about the way a president could cause tensions between the players to rise even higher? The dynamics of the island could change drastically. It's safer to neutralize that threat before it ever becomes a threat. It's easier to stop a war before it can start.
Baghera's primary concern is the way the election is designed to pit the residents against each other. All of them know that the Federation is a threat and she, like Bad, is focused on not letting them hurt more people. But, unlike Bad, she's less resistant to change. If the power is spread to multiple players rather than just one, it will be harder for the Federation to corrupt any one of them. Each time before the Federation has gotten to someone it's done so by isolating them. Felps, Cellbit, Jaiden- they've all spent a lot of alone time with Cucurucho. A council isn't just to consolidate the ideals of the island; a council would protect the players themselves. Sure, there might be disagreements and arguments, but they've had those before (and they're having them now!) and there's no reason to think they wouldn't be able to get through them again.
I hit a bit of a wall with Forever and Cellbit's pov here. Everything I know about their plans are from the debates and paraphrased discussions that have been translated here on tumblr, I'm going to talk less about their explicit plan and more about what the result will entail- a single president who takes responsibility for the island. It seems to me like they've recognized the presidential seat as the powerful opportunity that it is, and they want to take advantage of it. Here's some extra personal speculation but, adding rules, adding or removing mods, proposing public works, enforcing laws- those are just the abilities that are listed. Those are incredible opportunities to make the Federation take action, which is more than they've had before. We've seen before that the Federation isn't perfect; the Federation makes mistakes.
By working with the Federation, by making them take action (in a semi-controlled, semi-predictable way) you open them up to more opportunities for them to fuck up (while benefiting you). And, maybe, one of those fuck ups will be the key to taking them down. Maybe they could reopen ender chests. Maybe they could open the nether. Maybe they could learn why the Federation is holding an election in the first place. It's possible to do all these things with Baghera's plan, sure, but that's not a guarantee and, if someone like Bad is on the council, there's absolutely no way to be sure it would get done. And, if there's a council, then that opens up everyone on the council to the Federation's wiles. If there's just one president, then that's where the Federation's focus will be. By using a single person to build a relationship with the Federation, they only risk that single person. By electing ministers instead of a council, they can ensure that the island residents' needs are being heard while placing the federation's focus on that one person. A point can be made that they've done that before- with varying results. like kidnapping. selling your soul. etc. But! overall, I think they've gained more than they've lost by singling out one person. Because of them, we know that Cucurucho can't be trusted. We know that the Federation has a series of tunnels underneath the island. We know that the Federation not only has some sort of cryo technology, but had some unknown reason to use it. We know that there was another person working with Cellbit to take care of Felps (theorized to be ElQuackity), so we know there's at least one more Fed that isn't Cucurucho + blank-faced workers. There's been risk, but there's absolutely been rewards. This is just a very long meandering way to say that their plan to sacrifice Forever to the presidential seat reminds me very much of Cellbit's plan to sacrifice himself to the federation. They're saving their friends by potentially damning themselves and I, for one, think that is cool as hell.
they all care about each other so much. bad's plan means taking on no more risk. baghera's plan means spreading that risk evenly to stand strong together. and cellbit and forever's plan means taking the risk onto themselves so they can reap the rewards for others. am i reading too much into things? no this is tumblr and this smp is about LOVE and i really genuinely think that their election plans are a fantastic example of just how much they love each other
#qsmp elections#qsmp#qsmp analysis#again i haven't been following cellbit and forever's exact plan too closely but i've gotten the sense that their pushing of public works is#just to get people to vote for them and the true reason they want forever to be president is to infiltrate the federation#if that's not it tho feel free to let me know i'd love to know these cubitos reasonings#but with my interpretation i like the silly little extra headcanon of mr cell “sold his soul to the cops” bit#subconsciously sacrificing forever to the feds and pushing him into corruption#which ALSO makes the forever-killing-cellbit-to-kick-him-out-of-the-running plan Even More Tasty#'what if i let you kill me. what if destroying me destroyed yourself. what if i have already destroyed you on purpose and you forgave me#now what if i dont mean it when i do it again'#if anyone wants to examine the other candidates (or these same ones) and figure out how their election strategy is an example of their love#please do#i don't know enoguh about the others#but i know that gegg is love-turned-grief burn-the-world-down#and foolish is love for Item. love for cloud. love for being a silly#i don't know etoiles' plan for if he gets elected but i know he also deeply loves the island and the residents#him and his security <3 and the care packages for new players <3 and the way he Craves Violence but absolutely refuses to hurt anyone who#doesn't deserve it. most guy of all time#personally i want foolish to win because i think it would be really fun#but i think that any of them (even the candidates i don't know) would be a Fantastic president#we're going to get some good roleplay any way it goes so ill be happy :3#the only mechanic thing i want is for them to open the nether but that feels like a given for anyone so im not worried about it tbh#ty for coming to my tedtalk#hello if you're reading this tag. i see youre just as un-normal about these characters as i am. or you just like to read. respect either wa

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
December 11, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
DEC 12, 2023
As is sometimes the case in American politics, a bill that many people are likely not paying a great deal of attention to is likely to have enormous impact on the nation’s future.
That $110.5 billion national security supplemental package was designed to provide additional funding for Ukraine in its war to fight off Russia’s invasion; security assistance to Israel, primarily for missile defense systems; humanitarian assistance to citizens in Gaza and the West Bank, Ukraine, and elsewhere; funding to replenish U.S. weapon stockpiles; assistance to regional partners in the Indo-Pacific; investments in efforts to stop illegal fentanyl from coming into the U.S. and to dismantle international drug cartels; and investment in U.S. Customs and Border Protection to enhance border security and speed up migrant processing.
President Joe Biden asked for the supplemental funding in late October. Such a package is broadly popular among lawmakers of both parties who like that Ukraine is holding back Russian expansion that would threaten countries that make up the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). If Russia attacks a NATO country, all NATO members, including the U.S., are required to respond.
Since supplying Ukraine with weapons to maintain its fight essentially means sending Ukraine outdated weapons while paying U.S. workers to build new ones, creating jobs largely in Republican-dominated states, and since Ukraine is weakening Russia for about 5% of the U.S. defense budget, it would seem to be a program both parties would want to maintain. Today, even Trump’s former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said: “If Ukraine loses, the cost to America will be far greater than the aid we have given Ukraine. The least costly way to move forward is to provide Ukraine with the weapons needed to win and end the war.”
But now that former president Trump has made immigration a leading part of his campaign and a Trump loyalist, Mike Johnson (R-LA), is House speaker, Republican extremists are demanding their own immigration policies be added to the package.
Those demands amount to a so-called poison pill for the measure. The House Republicans' own immigration bill significantly narrows the right to apply for asylum in the U.S.—which is a right recognized in both domestic and international law—and prevents the federal government from permitting blanket asylum in emergency cases, such as for Afghan and Ukrainian refugees. It ends the asylum program that permits people to enter the U.S. with a sponsor, a program that has reduced illegal entry by up to 95%.
It requires the government to build Trump’s wall and allows the seizure of private land to do it.
When the House passed its immigration measure in May 2023, the administration responded that it “strongly supports productive efforts to reform the Nation’s immigration system” but opposed this measure, “which makes elements of our immigration system worse.”
And yet House Republicans are so determined to force the country to accept their extreme anti-immigration policies, they are willing to kill the aid to Ukraine that even their own lawmakers want, leaving that country undersupplied as it goes into the winter.
When he brought the supplemental bill up last week, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) promised the Republicans that he would let them make whatever immigration amendments they wanted to the bill to be voted on, if only they would let the bill get to the floor. But all Senate Republicans refused, essentially threatening to use the filibuster to keep the measure from the floor until it includes the House Republicans' demands.
This unwillingness to fund a crucial partner in its fight against Russia has resurrected concerns that the Trump-supporting MAGA Republicans are working not for the United States but for Russian president Vladimir Putin, who badly needs the U.S. to abandon Ukraine in order to help him win his war.
Media outlets in Moscow reinforced this sense when they celebrated the Senate vote, gloating that Ukraine is now in “agony” and that it was “difficult to imagine a bigger humiliation.” One analyst said: “The downfall of Ukraine means the downfall of Biden! Two birds with one stone!” Another: “Well done, Republicans! They’re standing firm! That’s good for us.”
Today, allies of Hungary’s far-right prime minister Viktor Orbán were in Washington, D.C., where they are participating in an effort to derail further military support for Ukraine (an effort that in itself suggests Putin is concerned about how the war is going). Flora Garamvolgyi and David Smith of The Guardian explained that the right-wing Heritage Foundation think tank, which leads Project 2025—the far-right blueprint for a MAGA administration—and which strongly opposes aid to Ukraine, is hosting a two-day event about the war and about “transatlantic culture wars.”
This conference appears explicitly to tie the themes of the far right to an attack on Ukraine aid. Orbán has dismantled democracy in his own country, charging that the equality before the law established in democracies weakens a nation both by allowing immigration and by accepting that women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people should have the same rights as heterosexual white men, principles that he maintains undermine Christianity. In Hungary, Orbán has cracked down on immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, and women’s rights while gathering power into his own hands.
In the U.S. the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and its allies—including former Fox News Channel personality Tucker Carlson and Arizona representative Paul Gosar—openly admire Orbán’s Hungary as a model for the U.S. Indeed, some of the anti-LGBTQ+ laws Florida governor Ron DeSantis has pushed through the Florida legislature appear to have been patterned directly on Hungarian laws.
Orbán—a close ally of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin, who embraces the same “illiberal democracy” or “Christian democracy” Orbán does—is currently working to stop the European Union from funding Ukraine. Now Orbán’s allies are openly urging their right-wing counterparts in the U.S. to join him in backing Putin. A diplomatic source close to the Hungarian embassy told Garamvolgyi and Smith: “Orbán is confident that the Ukraine aid will not pass in Congress. That is why he is trying to block assistance from the EU as well.”
Former U.S. ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul today noted that even the delay in funding has hurt the U.S. “Delaying a vote on aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan will do great damage to America's reputation as a reliable global leader in a very dangerous world. Delay is a gift to Putin, Xi, and the mullahs in Iran,” he wrote. “The stakes are very high.”
Republican determination to push their own immigration plan seems in part to be an attempt to come up with an issue to compete with abortion as the central concern of the 2024 election. As soon as he took office, Biden asked for funding to increase border security and process asylum seekers, and he has repeatedly said he wants to modernize the immigration system. To pass the national security supplemental appropriation, he has emphasized that he is willing to compromise on immigration, but the Republicans are insisting instead on a policy that echoes Trump’s extreme policies.
Immigration, on which Orbán rose to power, has the potential to outweigh abortion, which is hurting Republicans quite badly.
We’ll see. The story out of Texas, where 31-year-old Kate Cox has been unable to get an abortion despite the fact that the fetus she is carrying has a fatal condition and the pregnancy is endangering her health and her ability to carry another child in the future, illuminates just how dangerous the Republicans’ abortion bans are. Under Texas’s abortion ban, doctors would not perform an abortion, so Cox went to a state court for permission to obtain one.
The state court ruled in Cox’s favor, but Texas attorney general Ken Paxton immediately  threatened any doctor who performed the abortion, and appealed to the Texas Supreme Court to block the lower court’s order, saying that allowing Cox to obtain an abortion would irreparably harm the people of Texas. All nine of the justices on the state supreme court are Republicans.
Late Friday night the Texas Supreme Court blocked the lower court’s order, pending review, and today, Cox’s lawyers said she had left the state to obtain urgently needed health care. This evening the Texas Supreme Court ruled against Cox, saying she was not entitled to a medical exception from the state’s abortion ban.
The image of a woman forced by the state to carry a fetus with a fatal condition at the risk of her own health and future fertility until finally she has to flee her state for medical care is one that will not be erased easily.
Meanwhile, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has disappeared. His lawyer says he was told Navalny was “no longer listed” in the files of the prison where he was being held, and Navalny’s associates have not been able to contact him for six days.

File: Five Nights at Freddy's - Springtrap
SCP#: AFL
Code Name: Springtrap, the first and last animatronic/William Afton, owner of Fazbear Entertainment
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-AFL has been contained at Site-AC within a cryostasis pod. The pod is placed within a 4x4 meter room, two guards armed with Foundation assault rifles are to guard the outside of the door in four 6-hour shifts. Testing will not ever be approved out of fear of SCP-AFL gaining the ability to adapt and possess a new body.
Description: SCP-AFL is the rotting corpse of Person of Interest: William Afton, the owner of the company and Group of Interest: Fazbear Entertainment. The corpse of William Afton is trapped within a spring locked animatronic suit. Quite similar to SCP-AFL's victims and products, William Afton died within the suit, and it became possessed with his soul as a result. While alive, William Afton was a deranged killer who enjoyed making state of the art animatronics and seeing what would happen if he used them to kill children. The situation would be considered karma had his death not resulted into the mutation of a new and dangerous monster we now call SCP-AFL.
SCP-AFL is essentially immortal and has been using its power to spread its influence over Fazbear Entertainment. SCP-AFL is persistent is performing experiments to get himself a new body through both satanic rituals and cybernetic technology. SCP-AFL has also created an A.I. assistant to help him achieve these tasks that resemble a modernized but sinister looking version of his golden bonnie suit. Foundation staff who have seen this entity call it SCP-AFL-Glitch, or glitch trap.
SCP-AFL-Glitch is an A.I. created form the memories of SCP-AFL as William Afton that was somehow able to become a computer program that can infiltrate any form of technology. It regularly enters digital and online applications related to the company and stalks those who have bought and downloaded these products. It regularly tests them for compatibility to SCP-AFL's experiments and introduces hypnosis memetics to get them under control when they are confirmed to be compatible.
SCP-AFL-Glitch will use hypnosis, memetics, and mental manipulation tactics to make the victim into a slave of SCP-AFL. SCP-AFL will regularly use these slaves to either create newer and more advanced animatronics for the company to continue his funding. Other times he uses them directly for his experiments to create the perfect body to fully resurrect himself. Thankfully none of these experiments were met with any success.
SCP-AFL was discovered in 2023, as it was being used as an animatronic for the Fazbear Fright attraction. SCP-AFL burned the attraction to the ground when Foundation agents started to suspect he was in the area and had been hunting him ever since. He was finally found in 2031 when he used his influence and SCP-AFL-Glitch to keep the Fazbear Entertainment going even after all the controversies and lawsuits. The company the created the biggest establishment known as Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. There he was regularly brainwashing adults and having them kidnap and experiment on children without having any evidence lead back to the company.
Mobile Task Force Dionysus-3 "The Party Package" infiltrated the building pretending to be a large family. They found several SCP-ADF-Β instances as well as victims of SCP-AFL-Glitch's manipulation. Unfortunately, all victims had to be taken down and most of the SCP-ADF-B instances had to be destroyed. Apparently, they were working to build a tunnel leading underground to the one of the original Fazbear Entertainment restaurants. SCP-AFL wanted to use this place as a base of operations to connect him to the entire building so he could control everything that happens.
Thankfully MTF Dionysus-3 found him and restrained him before he could finish or get away. After he was brought into containment, The Department of Law and Detainment formed a semi-legal lawsuit against the company and shut it down for good. Without SCP-AFL's influence, the company was brought to ruin beyond repair and all their establishments shut down completely. However, the Pizzaplex building was never demolished due to a mass of disappearances of the demolition group. After this it was confirmed some of SCP-AFL's experiments were trapped in the building and growing and mutating as a result. This has led to the building becoming hazardous and appropriately labeled as SCP-[data expunged].

Honestly the idea that the personalities of the animatronics changed because Storyteller / Tiger Rock was just trying its best to do what it was programmed to do and didn't know where the lines were is SO much more interesting than mr. glitchy coming back for the millionth time.
Alternately (or maybe combined with this), I keep imagining that it's, like, when a TV show goes on for ages, and characters start as well-rounded, but then their quirks are exaggerated until they basically *become* those quirks and little else. You feed scripts to an AI, it's going to latch on to the key running themes or whatever and amplify them, you know?
Yeah!! Like, Tiger Rock just trying to create a good story that meets the criteria they were given, within the limits they've been set is an interesting way to do it I think!
So since the lore of this game is a fucking train wreck, I'm gonna say Tiger Rock is the main reason everything happened and they were just doing their job because it's more fun than Digital Cockroach decidded to Fuck It Up again.
Tiger Rock was told to make the most marketable scripts and stories with the established, marketable personalities they were given. They found the quirks and the flaws and amped them up and watched as perception of them all changed. They decided that the animatronics would make better villains than heroes and the most profitable protagonist would be one that most of the audience can relate to.
A child is selected at random maybe. His job is now to escape the Pizzaplex and the scary adults of the world with his weird bear companion, an adult that listens and does only as he's told and required to do by the child. I mean, what child doesn't want to live in a world where adults listen to them? What child doesn't want the power to boss around the bossy adults of the world?
And this way, Tiger Rock can gain the best reference for a story they can get. They can write their own, real story, with the protagonist being as real as they can get.
Maybe this isn't the first time this has happened. Maybe other kids have been selected and maybe they've all chosen different paths to each other. Someone chose to hide with Chica, and they hid from everyone else, eating pizza together. Someone chose to hide with Monty and they fought off the other animatronics with ease so Vanessa could help them get back to their parents. Someone chose to hide with Roxy and she busted them out of the Plex via the VIP exit. Someone went straight to Vanessa and they hung out in Lost & Found playing old arcade games all night until the doors reopened. And so on and so forth. The story is different every time, but whatever the child chooses, Tiger Rock makes it happen and Tiger Rock makes it a good story.
It then puts the job onto the animatronics and Vanessa to figure out what's going on. They need to find the culprit, find the reason these things keep happening and put a stop to it, eventually finding Tiger Rock. What do they do with them? What do they say? How does Tiger Rock defend themself and their actions?
It's a fun concept for sure!
