"Ight I think imma log off, I gotta be up early for some market the missus wants to go to," Schlatt tells his friends on the other side of the discord call. I watch as he shakes his head and closes the game. "Sorry boys, I'll see you later. Bye." He says before he ends the call.

"You could have played longer," I tell him. "Nah, I'm tired." He says, closing a few apps on his computer. "What have you been doing while I've been gaming Toots?" He asks. I look down at the page of quite literal porn on my iPad. "Just reading," I smile. "Reading? Is it that filthy shit again?" He asks.

Schlatt picked up a book of mine once about a year ago and opened it to a random page that just so happened to be a smut scene. He's never let it go since.

"No, nothing like that," I say, biting my tongue. I watch as he stands and rolls the chair into the socket of the desk before leaning down to touch his toes. He stands straight and stretches side to side before lifting his arms up and stretching his back.

His shirt lifts a bit, and my eyes immediately go towards a V-line of hair leading into his pants. "What you looking at sugartits?" He questions. "Nothing," I snap immediately. Looking into his eyes, he smirks, knowing he caught me. "We gonna head to bed soon?" He asks, and I nod.

"It's hot in here," He says, starting to take off his hoodie. As he lifts it over his head, my eyes immediately and involuntarily go back to that V-line.

My view is blocked by a blob of red hurling towards my face. It hits me with a soft sting. I stare at the hoodie of his that now lays in my hands. "Hey, what was that for?" I forow my brow. "That's what happens when you let those porny books get inside your mind and affect your thinking." He jokes.

"And why not? You seemed to like it last night," I smirk.

"God, you're such a brat,"

"Your brat," I wink.

Jay and I did this a lot. We called it friendly flirting. Although yes, we were a couple, we would often flirt with each other like you would a friend.

"You think you're such a smart ass, but what would happen if I-" he doesn't finish the sentence but instead jumps onto the bed on which I'm sitting and starts tickling me.

I turn into a fit of laughter as I try to get him to stop. "Jay -" I try to catch my breath. "Stop -" another wave of giggles hit me. It's not long until I'm pinned under him and still a laughing mess. I don't even realize he's stopped tickling me until he leans down and kisses my forehead.

When he pulls away, I look up into his eyes, and a smile spreads across my cheek.

"Hi," I whisper.

"Hey Toots," He whispers back.

We stared at each other for a long while before he scoffed.

"You're so beautiful, ya know that?" He says.

"Jay -" I try to pass off the compliment.

"No, my love. You're beautiful, I don't think you'll ever be able to see yourself the way I do. And God, I wish you could. You're the most perfect woman in the entire world. What I did to deserve you, fuck I'll never know" He tells me.

My stomach erupts with butterflies. "Who are you, and what have you done with Jay?" I try joke, and he rolls off me.

He turns to me, and I look at him.

"I love you, Toots."

You know what fucks with me? Is it ever like actually fully explained how in the Deathly Hallows, Ron and Hermione get into the Chamber of Secrets by themselves. Is Parseltongue just a language people can learn now? Did they make Ron retroactively a Parselmouth too? Or is the chamber dumb enough that you can do the snake equivalent of meowing back at a cat at it and it'll go 'seems legit'

Another one for the 'what the heck happened to the writing in this book' pile maybe

Honestly, yes, that was so contrived, and for, like, no reason.

I mean, the explanation in the book is this:

“But how did you get in there?” he asked, staring from the fangs to Ron. “You need to speak Parseltongue!” Ron made a horrible strangled hissing noise. “It’s what you did to open the locket,” he told Harry apologetically. “I had to have a few goes to get it right, but,” he shrugged modestly, “we got there in the end.”

So, it's exactly a person meowing back at a cat, you're spot on with that description. It's so bad Harry doesn't actually recognize it as words in Parsletongue the way he always does, because Ron isn't speaking it! He isn't actually saying anything, just hissing randomly!

Which makes it bizarre the chamber actually opened to him like this. Seems like either loose security, some contrived magic helping Ron out or he was very lucky. Honestly, I prefer to believe he got the hissing lucky that one time, it seems more probable than the other options.

JKR did state in an interview Dumbledore learned Parsletongue, or at least, knew to understand it when spoken to him, but I don't treat it as canon. It doesn't make sense with everything we know about Parseltongue as a magical language, the way speakers of it just hear it as English, Harry has to strain for a moment to realize it's a different language (he can tell in the memories in book 6 if he listens carefully). Also, Dumbledore seems to me in these memories he's showing Harry like he doesn't understand the Parsletongue. And as I take the books' texts over the interviews when it comes to evidence, I don't believe he can and I chose to believe you can't learn Parsletongue and Ron got really lucky with one of his attempts to mimic Harry.

All in all, it seems she just decided you could learn Parsletongue in book 7 and ran with it. I don't even know why, since, like, it wasn't necessary? There were plenty of pages she could've replaced with Harry going down to the chamber considering how much time is spent on very little, well, anything. And if she really didn't want to add that scene it could've been an invisible scene like: "Harry opened the Chamber for Ron and Hermione to retrieve basilisk fangs,"

Like, I get wanting to give Ron a win, but he gets wins, he destroyed the locket and there are other ways to give him wins that don't include changing the very rules of magic.

Book 7 annoys me from an analysis standpoint, it makes theorizing harder instead of easier sometimes and it frustrates me so much more than the frankly bizarre writing choices. Although they bother me too, especially the pacing and structure of the book, but that's a whole rant on its own.

There were often moments after cases where the entire jet remains silent, even when the cases end well. Everyone seemed to end up sitting in the same places, like a family routine. Y/N was lying across the sofa her head against the wall and her nose practically in another book. Spencer and Morgan sat across from each other on the 4x4 seats consumed in their own world of research papers and texting. The rest of the team was dotted around the plane consumed in light conversation about cases past. Y/N read remarkably fast, not as quick as Spencer but faster than anyone else. All the plane could hear from her corner was the quick flipping of pages from the two resident geniuses. Morgan then watched from his seat as Y/N closed her book, removing the bookmark and pulling out her laptop and a completely separate book.

"Damn kid, how many of them things do you bring on every trip?" Derek said looking at Y/N. She finally realized that he was speaking to her when the silence of no one replying to Derek hung in the air. They finally met eyes and her body shot up in excitement to talk about a book she was reading or a list she was making.

"I am glad you asked," As she said this Spencer also turned around to face her, a smile forming the minute he saw the excitement on her face, "So this is a list I created that has all the books I currently own, I started it when I came here as I was building up my library. It has multiple collums; genre, author's name, book name, rating out of 5 stars, and the date when I finished it." Spencer was glued on to every word she said even scanning the words on the screen to grab a bit of insight into her likes and dislikes.

"So how many books are on there?" Spencer says, hoping she'll use it as an excuse to talk more about her interests, he did love listening to her talk. With that small invitation, Y/N grabbed her laptop and moved over to sit next to Spencer on the 4x4 seats scrolling up and down the screen explaining all the 5-star ratings and all of the 1-star ratings. Only about 2 minutes had passed before Derek stood up excusing himself to get more coffee. Which gave the two geniuses more time to discuss all the books. Spencer takes notes of the books she marked as 5 stars in his mind, remembering to read them sometime, even if they are in her words 'stupid little romance novels'. He knew she was mainly downplaying it out of embarrassment but he still took the mental note.

"You should help the pretty boy make his own list, I wonder what the numbers would look like on that," Derek said taking his seat back across from the two, freshly brewed coffee in hand.

"Oh now we know how the good doctor feels about technology, plus it would take me longer to make the list than it would for him to finish the next book," Y/N said placing her hand on Spencer's shoulder when she says the good doctor. He felt Morgans's eyes on his shoulder when she placed her hand down, then his eyes flicked back towards Spencer's eyes attempting to gauge some reaction. Just then the laptop against the wall beeped and Penelope's face appeared on the screen, sometimes she popped back in just to check on the gang after a case. Saved by the bell he guesses.

"What's up earth mighties her- why is Spencer's face bright red?" Garcia's voice boomed over the speakers. Guess he was NOT saved by the bell.

the 11.5 guidebook in general is an info book that summarizes/recaps and adds some general information. it came out after the 11th volume, hence the name, in 2005

I got the translations as accurate as possible I hope, but if theres any issues or if someones even scanned these things before thatd be great to know before i inevitably end up selling my soul to do more

Cobalt Blue 🦋

So I was doing a bit of a ACOWAR re-read and found something interesting. When the autumn, and spring courts and human troops come into the final battle scene, Grayson’s family crest is cobalt.

“And one… one of mortal men in iron armour. Bearing a cobalt flag with striking badger. Graysen’s crest” ACOWAR page 623.

So Elain wearing the cobalt dress in ACOMAF might have been in relation to Graysen, BUT, we know Azriels siphons are the same colour. Could this be foreshadowing that Elain’s love interest when she was a human was Graysen, and then Azriel when she’s fae?

I’m not going to get into the discourse with Lucien being her mate. Because that could still be end game for all we know. But I truly think there would have to be so much retcon to make us forget 4 books of moments with Elain and Azriel and basically none with Elain and Lucien (he isn’t even around half the time). Like I would be chocked that Azriel was even dragged into Elucien to only complicate the plot more. They already had a complication with Graysen. And Azriel has been dragged around with Mor enough as well. But I noticed people like to say Lucien saying that he’s not always there to see his mate with distain in his voice is the same as Cassian about Nesta. But we forget that Cassian went to the Archeron estate in his bonus for ACOMAF and was about to kiss Nesta until she kneed him in the sensitive area. So ya… he didn’t want to talk about it. We don’t get bonus context why Lucien says that. Needless to say Lucien has no cobalt.

Anyways, I know Gwyn as a priestess also has an invoking stone that she wears, so I went searching to see if we get any information about the colour in ACOSF. Because regardless if I’m Eriel leaning, I still want to get all the facts straight. So I found the passage:

so still blue, because she has teal eyes, but not the specific blue that was used between Az-Elain-Graysen. And why is it important? Because Elain CHOSE to be graysen’s fiancé. She wanted to marry him even after turning fae. Choice is a reoccurring theme with Elain.

Now you might think, hey, this imagery doesn’t really matter. But the flowers, flames and night sky on the cabinet WERE important. SJM had to retcon the flames for Nesta with silver flame power in order to change Lucien being her mate. Also works because Cassian has red siphons though. Elain is correlated to flowers and automatically people think spring court or something. I don’t agree, because there are flowers in all courts, and spring is the only one where they are just there all the time. Elain is a GARDENER, her love of flowers is past aesthetics. It would be like saying Nesta should be at Day court because she loves reading and that’s where all the massive libraries are (Nesta would love it though).

Anyways, I personally don’t think the cobalt blue being the family crest for Graysen and siphon colour for Azriel is a fluke. I think it alludes to something. But, as all theories, it could be wrong.

The fact that Feysand, Nessian, Eriel and Vassien having titles between them also isn’t a fluke. This is another form of imagery that alludes to something. But again, maybe Sarah has some retcon to do. We really don’t know 100%, but with how ACOTAR has been set up, it feels to me it’s at least leaning this way.

When I first saw Nick from Monster x Mediator in a youtube let's play video he gave me Woodcutter lumberjack vibes mixed with a yandere lover.

I really like his design and the way he said he knew a character by a blog felt like something that would happen in Zable's realm jumping travels but not have the walkie talkie just randomly appeared in the room not knowing the place.

Zable would probably write the 100 pages story about him being a boss in a Illbleed fan game then the B movie plot twist is him killing the Illbleed worker "controlling" him then chop down the exit to just leave the park not wanting the prize money.

I mean what does a immortal being need with money?

But just leaves but with the love interest crying that they want the prize money.

I also imagine the longer the player takes in the level by using the item sensor collecting items to heal up before battle, just standing around letting the time go, or just seeing the new traps in the level.

I can see Nick gets bored of waiting and just kills the Illbleed control worker and when you walk in the boss room he acts like you stood him up on a date but it was actually the boss battle with the boss room trashed up with axe marks everywhere.

Then you actually have to battle him to get him to leave with a axe yourself.

But you finally get to use your items in battle which is a first and last time this would happen would to give him a newly written story which would stop the battle with a cutscene of him just reading it sitting down.

Would be funny for the player to rescue him out of the level but you don't get the extra prize money for completing the level on time to get a different cutscene.

I imagine the gimmick of the level is the time limit your character gets before entering the boss battle stage.

The longer you take the more B movie silly the cutscene will be while if you do it on time it would be a normal cutscene with the Illbleed worker still alive.

But in the story you get more points when you get the B movie cutscene.

When the character is fighting Nick I can imagine the player also having a Axe themselves to attack and having a long robot glove hand weapons that pushes him close to the boss exit.

The goal is not to kill Nick but it's like a sumo wrestling match to which person gets pushed close to the either of the doors which would stop the battle.

If the player wins then a cutscene would him leaving the boss area while the Illbeed workers try to capture him but he pushes them out the way killing them.

If Nick wins it depends on the time limit.

If you are on time then he can kill you with his axe or choke the player which will cause a bleeding death or strength empty.

If the time limit if past then when Nick was going to kill you with his axe then a robot worker steps in to catch the blade then tells the player to run to the goal with him chasing you with the blood all over him which means he killed that worker.

Once you reach the goal of the level ends and you renter the hubworld where he's just there to chat with the player like he's a actor in a movie that was just playing how role.

Maybe see him drinking a couple of Hassy with the cans around him.

Also have Nick do that laugh he does and have the player randomly laugh back but awkwardly while saying "Why are we laughing?" then have the cutscene just end like Nick was going to say something but the game cuts him off.

If Nick had a Pokémon team.

He would have a shiny Haxorus as his main Pokémon for comfort.

Nick would have a Golurk too as a swapout for the last Pokémon.

Zable Fable Interactions With Nick

Zable Fable would be shocked if any version of the character blocked Nick and would said it was a accident due to the blog website this character used had too many fake sexy bot accounts that were spamming their page then accident blocked him before checking out his account.

Maybe have Zable say this while unblocking him in real time.

If Fable was in control will try to eat Nick's axe this is in Zable's human vessel body to stop that attack that was harming the vessel body.

It's like storing a weapon for later but within the body.

Fable will give the weapon back if they feel like it's the right time.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I only write smut, thanks! WHAT KIND? idk I lean into BDSM but there's a few that aren't BDSM. I also write canon-compliant VC smut so it's either a vampire servicing a human or me trying to make blood drinking sound as horny as possible.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I used to when I was a teenager on my old accounts but it doesn’t really interest me anymore outside of like maybe a cute lil homage Easter Egg or something.

I don’t start stuff that I won’t finish adsgjl when I was in high school my FFnet page was a DISASTER just like 60 fics, none of them finished, and so when I returned to fic writing using AO3 I promise myself not to post stuff that I wasn’t confident I’d finish. Ideally I don’t even begin sharing something until it’s finished but TTSR was an exception bc it started as a PWP and got out of hand.

16. What are your writing strengths? I get complimented the most on tension and pacing! Also on emotional meta like characters' behavior around trauma.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I really wish I was better at writing long fics. It’s been a goal of mine forever and I’ve gotten a little better but I’m not where I want to be.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Gjkaldsg I don’t think it’s necessary and often comes off as cheesy unless it serves a real purpose. I've seen it done really well before! (Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo came to mind!) And I think we’ve all seen this done badly enough in fanfic to kind of learn what not to do. I think there are times when the beauty and cadence of another language can add texture or say something that you simply can’t say in the default language, I also think it can be used to create a distance between the characters, even between the reader and the character. I used a lot of Latin in So Falls the World for example, because Marius and Pandora are reciting an ancient poem to each other, and it was important to me to leave it in Latin because I wanted to communicate their age, that they’re clinging to something archaic because it’s familiar to them, when it’s incongruous to the world around them and also the text around them. Same with the misinterpretation of silence and its disastrous consequences, where Louis is reciting a French poem. I mean do we assume that Louis and Lestat speak French to each other at home anyway? But putting the poem in the original language AT LEAST FOR ME created a sense that Louis is playing a role, that it’s something outside of himself. Basically I think media does this all the time and we are smart enough to know that the language we’re consuming might not be the language the characters are actually speaking, we all know that! So the question is, when people sprinkle random words into their stories or dialogue, I ask: What purpose did this serve? Is this how bilingual people actually talk? Is it written for bilingual readers as a shared experience or is it meant to confuse monolingual readers for effect? Is it used sparingly to add texture, is it just a fun word that you want to use? Do whatever you want but I think we need to ask ourselves these questions before writing something that’s a sloppy mess at best, and a racist caricature at worst!

Tonight the Stars Revolt! is my fav Sheith fic, it’s like my magnus opus that I do all my meta work for, everything I’ve thought deeply about was ultimately for this fic, I HAVENT UPDATED IT IN ALMOST 2 YEARS IM REALLY SORRY LIFE KINDA GOT AWAY FROM ME IT’S BEEN HECTIC but I think about it constantly, more than you know, I have 3 playlists for it that I listen to all the time, it’s just always on my mind. For VC it used to be So Falls the World but now that I wrote Gallows Bird I think it’s that, too. I can’t tell if it’s because Gallows Bird is just newer and less sloppy LOL but jkdlhakjgsd I THINK I AVOIDED WRITING MARIUS FIC FOR A LONG TIME BC I WAS INTIMIDATED BUT THE TIMES I DO WRITE HIM I HAVE SUCH A BLAST and I just love him so much!

Cool Stuff in New Orleans

Back just before the turn of the 20th century, 623 Canal Street in New Orleans was the site of Vitascope Hall, the United States' first commercial movie theater. Beginning in 1896, some 400 patrons would find their seats in the hall, and enjoy 10 - 12 short films. Price of admission - 10 cents (about $3.67 today). For an additional 10 cents they could get a peek behind the curtain at Edison's vitascope projector. In spite of its popularity - it was the only profitable one out of the 40 Vitascope Halls built around the country - the promoters closed it after 3 months in favor of pop-up exhibitions instead of a fixed space.

The building that housed Vitascope Hall still stands, just 2 1/2 blocks from the Royal Sonesta (host for Miss Fisher Con 2024). Today it's home to short-term apartments and a convenience store.

On Izuna's Personality

Information from databooks: From older databooks we know he's devoted, peace-loving and loves training with Madara. In the newer databook it is stated he's self-sacrificing/devoted, harmonious/balanced.

Information from manga: There's not much information about him in the manga, as he barely appears in it – he's on like five pages, eight or nine if I'm being generous and count the unreliable narration of Itachi and Obito, and the only flashback he actually talks in is Hashirama's, so let's look at those pages.

Chapter 623: Izuna, if I'm not mistaken, firstly appears in this chapter on the faithful day on the river, where Madara awakens his Sharigan. Here, I have to remind that this entire flashback is from Hashirama's perspective, not from Madara's, therefore we cannot tell for sure how exactly Madara's family found out he's meeting Hashirama. The reason I'm mentioning this is because often, people assume Izuna was watching Madara and/or was told to watch him just like Tobirama was, and while it could be the case (both families had the same idea of following Madara/Hashirama, so maybe they also both found out about their meetings the same way), we truly cannot be sure.

Izuna here likely followed his father's orders/wishes and went head to head with Tobirama, who, according to the databooks, was his equal on the battlefield.

In the manga panel linked above we can see Izuna looks quite calm as he surveys his opponents and refers to Tobirama by his name, and Tobirama reciprocates.

Chapter 624: On the first page of this chapter (the panel down left), Izuna again looks very calm and also focused as he's about to clash with Tobirama. Interesting to note that Tajima's face looks very focused and calm as well, while both Butsuma's and Tobirama's faces look almost enraged, especially Tobirama's face.

The difference between Izuna's focused and still relatively calm expression and Tobirama's enraged one is more clear on the second page of this chapter. I believe Izuna is biting his lip which is the first sign of any emotion that he displayed so far (that and his widely opened eyes as he focuses on his opponent). Even as the fight between him and Tobirama continues (the first panel), Tobirama is still the one whose face is way more expressive, he clearly grits his teeth in battle rage.

Small but cool detail: The first panel shows both Butsuma and Tajima looking down at their sons. It's cool Kishi not only thought of telling us that each of them would be unbalanced if their son died in front of their eyes, but he also showed us. No one will convince me Kishimoto isn't an amazing writer/artist when he clearly cares for small details like this...Anyway, back to Izuna.

Now this and this page are the first pages where Izuna visibly shows any emotion, both times it's him being surprised. Showing surprise when an opponent unexpectedly attacks you is normal in the Naruto verse, other characters do it as well – it's a way of keeping the reader invested in battle scenes – that means the first page doesn't tell us much about Izuna's character, however the second surprised reaction does.

The second time Izuna is surprised, he's surprised because his brother admitted he is weaker than Hashirama. That means Izuna admires Madara greatly. It's also in character for Madara as he likes to boast about his abilities, so Izuna not seeing fault in him is very likely. Izuna's disbelief is clear on his face. (This is also the second time he says anything and I love how the animated version made Izuna's voice softer when speaking to his brother.)

Later, when Madara awakens Sharingan, Izuna is clearly elated.

So far it seems Izuna shows any kind of emotions more freely when he's interacting with his family.

I don't know if I should count this page, because Izuna was just mortally wounded here, but I will mention that there is a difference between the manga and anime version in this scene. In the anime, when Hashirama makes the offer (or should I say a threat?), Madara makes a slight move towards Hashirama as if he was about to agree, and in that moment Izuna stops him, implying he sensed the movement and stopped his brother. In the manga, there is no visible movement on Madara's part. We only get a close up of his face, but here's the thing: only we, the readers and by extent Hashirama, can see that. Izuna at this moment is looking down or is perhaps on the edge of passing out due to pain. Madara made no movement and Izuna couldn't see his face, which means Izuna had to guess that Madara was considering Hashirama's offer through other clue. So...what was the clue?

Looking at canon characterization of Madara, he is often vocal when he doesn't like something or when he doesn't agree with something, so the fact that Madara was quiet, might have told Izuna he's considering accepting the truce.

Another interesting thing is that Madara respected Izuna. How do I know? He listened to him, to his advice. He also clearly tried to keep his oath to him to protect the clan (and perhaps that was the reason why he stayed in the village for so long even after overhearing the conversation between Hashirama and Tobirama). These behaviors show both brothers likely knew each other very well, trusted and respected each other deeply, and of course loved each other too.

So, what do we know about Izuna? We still don't know much, but it does seem he was very devoted – to his family and his clan. He cared about his clan's safety. His desire to keep them safe and to make sure Madara and by extent his clan wouldn't be deceived could have been stronger because he was also the head of his clan, therefore the clan was his responsibility too. The manga also showed he was willing to sacrifice himself for the good of his clan.

He was clearly very calm, focused and collected, rarely if ever showing emotions during battle. Even Madara, a very skilled Shinobi, shows emotions (raging from absolute boredom to absolute excitement) during battle.

As for the other characteristics mentioned in the databooks: Peace-loving and harmonious: We don't know nearly enough about his character to say this with certainty, and it's important to note (once again) that this entire flashback is from Hashirama's POV only. But he did give Madara his eyes to protect the clan, so it's pretty possible he wanted peace and harmony for his clansmen.

Loves training with Madara: Again, nothing in the manga (beside Itachi's and Obito's narration) suggests this, but given the fact Madara loved to fight and loved testing his abilities against Hashirama, it's likely he would have trained with Izuna as well. Also, how else would they teach Izuna to fight if they didn't train, right?

Now...why the heck did I write all of this? One of my reasons is that I wish to write more fanfiction about Izuna, and I like to stay as close to CANON characterisation as possible.

The biggest reason is that I'm tired of the quite honestly terrible interpretations of his character.

He's either the definition of a monster with no heart or a cute fluffy creature who's super in love with Tobirama. Both interpretations lack depth, although the first one at least acknowledges Izuna as a warrior.

I was also quite confused when I found out that many people seem to believe Izuna and Tobirama parallel each other? And while yes, both of them are younger brothers of reincarnations of Asura and Indra (Hashirama and Madara) and while they were, according to the databooks, equals in power, I see no other similarities between them? Even if we say they parallel each other, then...in what? We know nearly nothing about Izuna, so how can we even make this claim?

And from the little we know about him (and from what I've written above), they seem to be very different, but maybe that's what the parallel is supposed to be about.

In any case, this was my attempt to define Izuna's canon character.
