More Ideas I think that would make Pokémon.

1. Lotus- I was thinking of a grass type bud then evolves into a fully bloomed Grass/Fairy type as Lotus' have important influence in Hinduism.  2. Death Apple- I looked this up and man this is the world's deadliest tree. This Pokemon is considered the most dangerous of all Grass /Poison types. It sprays toxic sap scare away bird and Bug Pokemon. If one gets attacked and even if immediately using an Antidote you can still feel the pain.  3. Dream catcher- Psychic/fairy. I was thinking of its first stage resembling small beads and string before becoming an intricate dreamcatcher. This Pokémon can tell the difference between dreams and nightmares. It can also eat nightmares to allow trainers sweet dreams. However, if it finds an interesting dream it can store it in its body.  4. Voodoo doll- ghost type Pokémon. two stage evolution it evolves by learning Curse (not surprised). This Pokémon is said to place curses on those who wronged it by sticking pins wrapped with its target hair into its body and control their movements.  5. Harp- Steel/Fairy type Its first form maybe a fairy playing a lyre or sentient lyre. Final form would be a harp playing fairy. Musicians and composers are usually inspired by this Pokemon's unique melodies. It is said the songs performed by this Pokémon is so impactful enough to soothe the most ferocious Pokémon. Legends say this Pokémon is a disciple of Meloetta. 6. Mirror- Ghost/Steel. First form a small hand mirror and its final form a large, possessed mirror with shadowy images. It is once said that Pokémon exists by having a soul bound to the mirror gaining sentience. For some reason trainers or other Pokémon reflections are distorted by this Pokémon. 7.Lavender- grass/fairy. I wish this type of concept would be used. This Pokemon would not have just regular grass type moves, but also healing due to the properties Lavender is used for.  8. Bamboo- grass type. A three-stage evolution from a little shoot to a child size stalk to a large sentient bamboo stalk. It would have strong defense but moves slowly for compensating its resistance.  9. Papyrus Scroll- Ghost. Said to possess the soul of scholars and record events. As it evolves it says that it contains details of the soul's history, however reading it for too long will ensnare you to be its new scribe. 10. Crystal skull- Rock/Psychic type. two stages.  Details unknown for the time being. Scholars puzzle if the skull was created by humans or the Pokémon itself was formed naturally. It is said to have immense psychic powers and acute awareness of upcoming events that may happen. 11. Taffy- Fairy type. Like other Pokemon based on Candy, I was thinking of taffy. A sweet and yet playful Pokemon it likes to entertain those with its stretchy body, it can use its elasticity to confuse opponents. It is shown to eat sugar to help maintain its consistency.   12. Iron Maiden- two stage steel/ghost Pokemon. This Pokemon hunts by capturing its prey with its line spiked body and said to drain its life force. It is said that this Pokemon came to be when the souls of tortured victims and wish to inflict the same pain onto others as they felt in their former life.  13. Incense- Possibly a Psychic type Pokemon.  I was originally thinking of a regional variant of a Pokemon, but I didn't want to appear to be plagiarizing it. The Pokemon strength varies on the incense it holds. Kind of like Oricorrio with its nectar, but as it evolves with the incense it stays permanent and gets a permanent type.

1,900-Year-Old Papyrus Records Roman Tax Fraud Trial

The Greek document details a court case in ancient Palestine involving tax fraud and provides insight into trial preparations in the Roman Empire

Back in 2014, a researcher from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem rediscovered an ancient papyrus while organizing a storeroom in the Israel Antiquities Authority’s Dead Sea Scrolls Unit. Once found in the Judean Desert, the document’s script had previously been classified as Nabataean—an ancient Aramaic language—but papyrus expert Hannah Cotton knew better.

“When I saw it marked ‘Nabataean,’ I exclaimed, ‘It’s Greek to me!’” the researcher says in a statement by the university.

Cotton and a team of experts spent the next decade deciphering the 133-line text, and their findings were recently published in the journal Tyche. Turns out, the document is the longest Greek papyrus ever found in the Judean Desert, and its newly translated content is particularly unique: a Roman lawyer’s detailed notes about the trial of two men accused of tax fraud.

“This is the best-documented Roman court case from Judaea, apart from the trial of Jesus,” says study coauthor Avner Ecker, a historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in the statement.

Per the study, the papyrus was likely written on the “eve of the Bar Kokhba Revolt,” a second-century Jewish uprising against Roman rule. The Roman Empire had colonized Judea—the southern part of ancient Palestine—some 200 years earlier. By 132 C.E., various Roman incursions upon Jewish life, including bans on religious practices, had taken their toll: The dwindling population of Jews in Palestine revolted. The rebellion, led by a man named Bar Kokhba, was crushed by the Romans in 135 C.E., and Jews were subsequently banned from Jerusalem.

The newly translated papyrus was written after Roman Emperor Hadrian’s visit to Judea around 130 C.E. and before the Bar Kokhba Revolt, per the study. It details Rome’s case against two individuals—Gadalias and Saulos—accused of forging documentation about selling and freeing slaves to bypass paying Roman taxes.

“Forgery and tax fraud carried severe penalties under Roman law, including hard labor or even capital punishment,” says study coauthor Anna Dolganov, a papyrus expert at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, in the statement.

The papyrus was written in “vibrant and direct” language by a strategizing prosecutor, advising another lawyer about pieces of evidence and anticipating objections, per the statement. The document also contains a “rapidly drafted transcript of the judicial hearing itself.”

As Dolganov says in the statement, “This papyrus is extraordinary because it provides direct insight into trial preparations in this part of the Roman Empire.”

Significant portions of the document are missing, making conclusions about the trial’s participants difficult to draw. Still, the researchers write that the prosecutors were likely “functionaries of the Roman fiscal administration” and suggest the defendants were Jews. The papyrus also makes mention of “an informer who denounced the defendants to Roman authorities.”

As Live Science’s Kristina Killgrove writes, the papyrus sheds light on the long-debated question of whether or not ancient Jewish people owned slaves. The document mentions that Saulos’ family owns multiple slaves, but whether those enslaved people were Jewish is unclear.

The trial’s location and the case’s outcome also remain mysterious. Per the study, proceedings may have been interrupted by the Bar Kokhba Revolt. Somehow, this papyrus ended up among a collection of documents stored in caves in the Judean Desert—the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were rediscovered in the mid-20th century.

As study coauthor Fritz Mitthof, a historian at the University of Vienna, says in the statement, the papyrus showcases the Romans’ governmental reach: They regulated private transactions even in remote regions of their empire.

Today, I will skip over the entire revolutionary war+whatever happened in the world in 1812, and we are nearing the 1820s. Um, no, actually over 1825... Cause in 1822 there is Monroe's doctrine with the whole "you don't mess with my stuff, I don't mess with yours,” a hands-off policy in South America, as a reaction to plans of the Holy Alliance (Austria, Prussia, Russia) to discuss matters at the Congress of Verona on the Spanish question. Like they wanted to restore Spanish rule over Latin American colonies that had declared their independence. AnOpinions of the former 13 colonies were not asked. The USA might have plans for LatAme, how could they??????!!!!!

Al and Ivan knew each other in the first half of the 19th century. They met and interacted; some points of friendship were gained. This is established, at least in my interpretation. After many times of proving his independence, Alfred is still being isolated by the Old World. Like they're aware of his existence and literally don't give a fuck about it. Many other things are happening on the continent; no time for new acquaintances. However, America wants to be included and to have friends!! So he is still stuck with his "sort of not fully an ally in independence war cause yknow we don't want the british to consider us as enemies too, so here are two ships if the shit hits the fan - use them" Ivan. A close neighbour from the north who started doing... something? in the icy part of the land (expansion, colonial adventure in Alaska). A BIG imperial monarchy with a good position in the Concert of Europe. Someone who probably knows a lot about diplomacy and other things on how to exist as a whole country. On the other hand, Russia isn't reluctant to have a nosy and too energetic creature around; of course, he is excited about a new friend. They see benefits in each other—"the whole world will open for me/I won't feel so lonely with him". Almost compatible with problems. This was probably curiosity at first sight. Major "why is that with him this way and not the other?" factor.

Ivan sees Alfred (at least until the 1850s) as too nice, too innocent, and an overall pure being. A boy is so full of wonder and love for everything that it feels almost impossible. Ivan doesn't want that to change and is actually afraid of it happening, he tries to hold back Alfred from seeing the other harsh side of reality; nevertheless, Al wants to experience all - dirt, bliss, the world as whole. He doesn't want to be brought back to life, isolated from others.

After the 1850s, the situation changed. Ivan really appreciated Alfred's benevolent neutrality with the mess the Crimean War was; there is no secret in that. As a way of showing gratitude for it, he started inviting Alfred more frequently to his place. For tea, for hunts or even without a proper reason [yeah, it takes like a month to sail from one continent to another, inconvenient!]. And Alfred crushed. Real hard (regular oh, italicized oh). No other nation was treating him like that—"humanly". Everyone wanted something from him and wished for him to somehow change in a direction that was more beneficial for them. For Ivan, Alfred, as he was, was more than enough. America knew that he appreciated Ivan way before, but didn't give much thought to his feelings. He was capable of some sort of controlling it. However, now [as in the second half of the 19th century] Alfred cannot. He sighs too loud, looks too long, and smiles too much. Everything feels too much for him to handle. He tries to distract himself and pays attention to making new friends (cough the opening of Japan in 1853-1855 cough), but is still drawn to Ivan. However, the latter doesn't understand why America is suddenly more jumpy, more uneasy with him, and why his laughs are more strained. Although Alfred insists that everything is just peachy (he doesn't want to ruin this friendship with his weird feelings), Ivan's suspicion grows. He wants to know why but can't come up with a solution.

Their already interesting liaison transforms into more confusion.

And I consider hetamyu canon (cause musicals fill in all the missing plot points in manga, for me at least), sooo according to the second one, there was something peculiar between them (the infamous kiss scene).

Although I headcanon, at least for half of the 19th century, their friendship was childlike and mostly naïve. Ivan and Alfred are tall kids in diff ways. And I can absolutely imagine them playing tag or hide and seek. Though, this could have happened in any century.

In 1861-1865 they couldn't physically see each other (Alfred had to crawl in trenches), so their usual correspondence intensified (that sort of "absolutely not gay in any way" messages, like "my heart aches at the thought of your suffering, my dearest friend")...

Except for the late autumn of 1863 [the visit of the Russian fleet during the fall-winter of 1863-1864*]. Ivan paid for the first time in a while for a visit to New York (I like to think that Alfred stayed a lot of times in Saint Petersburg; however, Ivan wasn't that fond of travelling). Alfred was tired and pretty much beaten from fighting with himself; however, some obsessed excitement brought back his optimism for one night. At the ball they, as expected, danced a bit, and escaped to a more enclosed space from people and noise. Not much talking happened there; soothing silence at that time was needed. Of course Alfred was stressed because your own family literally wants to dismember you (don't know if I need to put a historical reference, but still—at the outset of the war, England and France supported the South. Napoleon III, with colonial designs on Mexico [Second Franco-Mexican War, 1861-1867], looked longingly on a divided United States, and British shipping interests were seriously affected by Lincoln's blockade of southern US ports, which led to the recognition of the Confederate states as belligerents. Russia supported the Union).

*I wanted to add here an actual fun historical fact! This “gesture” was interpreted by Americans as sympathetical move and overall a sign of “secret agreement” and Russia's protection of US Government (you can read about it further here: https://www.jstor.org/stable/25156012)

Not long after that, Ivan started viewing Alfred as more mature than he was before (Ame literally got torn apart in the Civil War, of course he boosted in character development).

So I was wandering around in the tags for Undertale and Deltarune, especially the Papyrus ones and I came across a post which was about the Papyrus-becoming-Gaster theory and about how he was the "Forgettable" guy in the "Don't-forget" games. Scroll sighed. He didn’t want to go to whoever's party this was. 

“Chin up, sweetie.” His mother didn’t turn around, yet could tell he was sulking.

“Can’t I stay home?” He pleaded, once again.

“You need to make some friends, Scroll. This is a good opportunity!” 

He sighs again as the car pulls into the venue. He wishes he had denied his mothers wishes and taken Fuzzy, his beloved cat plush, with him.

“It’ll be fun!” She promises. Scroll doesn’t believe her. He just wants to go home.

As they walk in, he sees a lot of people. Too many people. He grabs onto his moms leg, not wanting to stray far from the one person he knows. She walks over to various people, having short conversations, but Scroll doesn’t say anything.

He clings tighter to his moms leg the more people notice him. He doesn’t know any of these people, so he doesn’t see why he should talk to them.

He glances over, across most of the parents, spotting a few kids running around. Around his age, it seems. Some of the kids are a pencil, an ink pad and a scruffy looking feather. A quill, maybe? Feeling his mother begin to move, he reverts his attention back to his mom, moving onto a container of fish food and exchanging a few words.

The fish food leans down towards him. “Hello there, little guy!”

Scroll leans away. Even though the fish food chuckles at this, he thinks it makes it clear he wants to go home. He thinks. 

“Sorry about him, he’s not… social.” His mother apologizes. Why does she need to say sorry..?

Then his mother walks up to a pen. Scroll, being 5, struggles to read the label. He doesn’t bother to listen to the conversation, and looks back at those kids he saw. The feather seems… intimidating, honestly. He watches as they run around, one or two fall, but his attention snaps back to his mom and the pen when he hears his name.

“Scroll’s not the most social, but I’m hoping at some point he’ll talk to some other kids.” His mother sighs.

“My son’s pretty friendly, but ends up scaring off his friends. He’s… chaotic.” The pen glances over at the kids that are running around. 

Scroll looks back to see the quill biting someone. The pencil was trying to drag them off, a packet seeming to yell, and an ink pad… also biting them. Any of those kids could belong to the pen, they all seemed chaotic.

The pen and his mother converse for a bit, but he doesn’t pay much attention. The group of kids running around seemed… interesting. His focus wavered between the conversation and the kids, but he didn’t say anything.

“We’ll just have to see if they get along, I guess. I’ll bring him over if you want?” The pen proposed, pointing over at the group of kids. 

“Sounds like a good idea, thank you!” His mother smiled, glancing down at Scroll. “Try to make some friends, okay?” 

“...where’s she going?” He ignored what she asked, and instead countered with a question about the pen.

“Well, Gel Pen wants to see if her son and you can be friends!” She smiles awkwardly, glancing back up.

Scroll sees the pen— Gel Pen— walking back with the feather. Him? He thinks, worried about how the feather will act. I don't want to talk to… that! 

       As they approach, he begins to hear their voices fade in. 

       “...so no biting.”

       “Awwh, okay… but can I-”

       “No, Quill.”

       “You didn't even let me speak!”

       “I know you well enough to know what you were going to say.” Gel Pen smiles, looking up to wave at his mother. Scroll kept holding onto his moms leg tightly.

      Gel Pen introduced Quill to his mother and they started to talk, but Scroll didn't quite pay attention. He silently analyzes Quill, seeing how he seems confident with himself. 

       “...and paired with how much he bites, he tends to scare off his friends.” Gel Pen sighs.

       “No I don't!! My friends are my friends because they like me!!” Quill interrupts. With his expression and slightly whiny voice, Scroll can't help but laugh.

       This catches Quill's attention, who looks over at Scroll. “Oh, hey, do you want to play tag with us?” Quill smiles, gesturing to the other kids he saw.

      Scroll glances back up at his mom, who's avoiding eye contact with him. “Uhm, sure…?”

      He can hear his mother sigh with relief. Quill grabs Scroll's wrist and pulls him over to the other kids, dodging all the parents standing around. 

      Scroll stumbles over his own feet, but he can't help but feel excited to meet those other kids.

Scientists Digitally 'Unroll' 2,000-Year-Old Scroll Scorched by Mount Vesuvius

he Herculaneum scrolls have remained one of the many tantalizing mysteries of the ancient world for almost 2,000 years. Burnt to a crisp by lava from Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79, the reams of rolled-up papyrus were discovered in a mansion in Herculaneum — an ancient Roman town near Pompeii — in the mid-18th century. Both towns were decimated by the Vesuvius eruption, and most of the scrolls were so badly charred they were impossible to open.

Over the next two and a half centuries, attempts were made to unfurl some of the hundreds of scrolls using everything from rose water and mercury to vegetable gas and papyrus juice, according to the New Yorker.

The few that could be opened were philosophical texts written in ancient Greek. But most of the scrolls were so badly damaged, they were considered illegible. More recently, researchers managed to decipher some select words using artificial intelligence, X-ray and CT scans to distinguish ink from the papyrus it was printed on.

The mystery is still unravelling, and on Wednesday, a major breakthrough was announced. Researchers say they've now managed to digitally unroll and start reading one of the ancient scrolls. The scroll in question, known as PHerc. 172, is one of three stored at the University of Oxford's Bodleian Libraries in England.]

A team involved in the Vesuvius Challenge, a competition offering prize money to anyone who can help unlock the delicate scrolls, says it has virtually unwrapped the papyrus to reveal columns of text that Oxford scholars have already started working to decipher.

"This scroll contains more recoverable text than we have ever seen in a scanned Herculaneum scroll," said Brent Seales, one of the co-founders of the challenge.

"We're confident we will be able to read pretty much the whole scroll in its entirety, and it's the first time we've really been able to say that with high confidence," project lead Stephen Parsons told CBS News' partner network BBC News. "Now we can work on making it show up more clearly. We're going to go from a handful of words to really substantial passages."

The breakthrough came when the team at the Bodleian Libraries brought the blackened scroll to the Diamond Light Source research facility in nearby Oxfordshire, where technicians used a massive machine called a synchrotron to create a powerful X-ray beam that was able to peer into the fragile relic without damaging it.

"It can see things on the scale of a few thousandths of a millimeter," Adrian Mancuso, the facility's director of physical sciences, told the BBC. "We have to work out which layer is different from the next layer so we can unroll that digitally."

Last year, the Vesuvius Challenge announced that three young students had won its $700,000 grand prize for using AI to help researchers read about 5% of another scroll, the subject of which was Greek Epicurean philosophy.

The scroll that the team at the Bodleian Libraries recently unfurled is assumed to be on the same subject.

"I just love that connection with whoever collected them, whoever wrote them, whoever rolled those scrolls up and put them on the shelves," Nicole Gilroy, head of book conservation at the Bodleian Libraries, told the BBC. "There's a real human aspect to it that I just think is really precious."

I personally choose to believe that UF Papyrus, US Sans, and SF/FS Sans are the MESSIEST BITCHES EVER.

Like I have absolutely nothing to back this up but if I were to make a tier list from "quietly listens in on an argument" to "goes to parties/weddings that they KNOW will have drama and regularly keeps up with who disowned who", it'd be something like;

UF Papyrus SF Sans US Sans

I almost put UT Papyrus but I feel like it'd be highly circumstantial because they'd need to have wronged him for him to want to learn any dirt on them and it'd be very surface level. However imo Blue LIVES for the drama.

Blue <- has and will ask you for all of the workplace drama whenever you have time.

He's mature about it, but he will ask questions like "I saw that coworker you've been complaining about recently. Looked like she was in a bad mood" to try and prompt you into talking about them.

SF Sans mostly doesn't care, or at least pretends to. In all actuality he is listening in on your conversations with Blue trying to glean what happened. Please project your voice, he wants to hear but cannot let y'all know he likes drama.

UF Papyrus isn't so much "Messy" as he is petty. Like, him and SF Sans exist in a state of "Wrong him once and he's going to pull every string he has to to find every piece of dirty laundry possible and hint at it just enough to break you." Might ask you for details if you know them/ someone who knows them, but both him and SF Sans see less reason to do so if they have no dog in the race.
