Last week our kitchen helper finally came in and it has been a total game-changer!! I literally cannot be in the kitchen without Aurora wanting to be either carried or sitting up on the island watching and being involved in everything I am doing! This way she can safely watch me and help out with simple tasks if she wants to, and it gives my arms a much needed break! The fourth picture is her reaction to trying the raw cabbage she insisted on tasting!

And yes, she "helped" me build it too! 💪😉

The emotional needs of a child.

No child—no person—thrives when she feels under the control of someone else.

We sometimes assume that, as the adult, we have full control over kids, even saying we’re doing it for their own good.

But not only does that backfire, it’s inherently wrong. Sure, you can threaten and bribe the child to do things, but these fear- and reward-based tactics are short-lived and eventually don’t work. Instead, the only person you can truly control is yourself.

To truly meet the emotional needs of a child, we need to value the person that they are.

This starts with being respectful to the child. Think about your latest interactions with him/her
