for their second or third date davey suggests that he and jack go to one of those wine paint night things because davey likes wine and jack likes paint and its perfect. it’s so perfect. IN THEORY. but it turns into a night of davey seeing jack soooooo stressed bc the way the instructor is painting this scene is so weird, davey, and the colors are kind of off, dave, don’t you see that these don’t have enough contrast, and no one here actually cares about the painting and they just want to get drunk and oh my god davey this is worse than my high school art teacher trying to make us draw vending machine designs for the zoo. and jack is having the worst time of his life and wont stop whispering complaints and “oh my god”s and davey wants him carnally

First version of Watch What Happens by Bronté Barbé from Newsies in London - played on BBC Radio 2 for Elaine Paige on Sunday.

I love Kara Lindsay but it's nice to hear a different version at last! I'm also impressed that Bronté has managed to make a noticeably different interpretation, because it's SUCH a wordy song that it can be hard to do anything more than just get all of the lyrics out!

Also bearing in mind this is going to change from now into previews, and as the run goes on.

Sorry about the weird fade at the end, they did that thing where they played a radio transition right after which I had to cut out. Also BBC pls don't arrest me, I just want people who don't have access to BBC Sounds to hear this! (I am so scared lol)

I (finally) saw Newsies in the West End tonight and I have so many thoughts but the one I absolutely need to get out tonight is that London Davey Jacobs is absolutely autistic.

He stims, he stutters over his thoughts, he infodumps, he fidgets when he's nervous, he has a very interesting, unique tone when speaking and has a very rigid posture.

I don't know if it was intentional or not but I've always seen Davey as autistic - in both News Boys and the Broadway adaptation - but the way Ryan Kopel chooses to portray Davey is so authentically autistic.

He's shown to be incredibly uncomfortable with social interaction and touch initially but the Newsies accept him all the same and it's beautiful to see.

My absolute favourite Davey stims were him rubbing his fingers up and down the newsie newspaper bags and him tapping his hands when Jack made him speak in front of the other News Boys.

I really loved this show. I've waited my whole life to see it and it surpassed all my expectations.
