Saturday was going great UNTIL it bucketed and netty got canned. I swear we used to play in worse conditions… like it was torrential but I’m a netty gal ya know?
So me and half my team went for lunch which was cute and then I got a giant coffee to warm myself off.
It’s funny how life works. Last weekend I had two uni assessments to work on and a job application and ZERO time.
This weekend I now have time and nothing to do. Maybe I should relax?!
Also my mum got a PB she’s the best 😍😍😍
And also again a random girl told me I was so quick and I was like me???? And it put some pep in my step because yeah this time last year I was DYING to crack 30. I think a year ago my time was 32 flat. Perspective right?

Congrats to me on 25 parkruns!
Here is my plug for parkrun. It is a non-profit operated entirely by volunteers that hosts free, timed 5k events all around the world and has the goal of helping people who usually feel alienated from the running and walking community feel welcome. Runners who finish in 17:00 or walkers who finish in 1:03:00, they celebrate everyone all the same. Check the link below to see if there is an event near you.

Good to get out and do another parkrun. Only twelve to go to the 💯, and the black tee-shirt. I'm at 144 volunteering credits, so I got that black tee a while ago. I'm 100% sure that T would be faster without me, but she doesn't seem to mind sticking with me for now. We're meeting again on Monday, for our weekly trot. Start of week five of C25K, but day one is less than we did today, so I might count today as day one, and jump us to day two. It makes sense to not go back a step.

The Gorgeous Guy came to parkrun with us, but he sat it out, as he'd done a 10k race last night and was knackered. We went for lunch and I treated myself to vegan sausages, bagel and sweet potato fries. I hadn't had bread or sausages for a while, so they were nice as a wee change, but I made sure to get a good portion of sauerkraut into me when I got home later, as well as some fresh fruit. Today was more processed food than I've eaten in ages. I won't beat myself up about it, but it's back to clean eating tomorrow

We both finished second in our age groups today at park run. It was a cooler morning with no sunshine at all. Quite pleasant running conditions and lovely for the post run cool down coffee at the cafe just down the road.

UK people, if you want to go to the Eden Project, go at 8.45am on a Saturday and spectate (or run) the parkrun. Then you all get free entry for the day. It saved us £196 entry fees. What a win!

December 31st started with a very soggy parkrun. I was Run Director and had to make the call to not use our regular route as it was pretty flooded from 24 hours of rain. I even had to use the back of my car to set up the volunteer station that is normally out on a table. The pictures don’t really capture how wet and gross it was. The hot shower when I got back was heavenly.

For our New Year’s Eve celebration we had a seafood platter and some bubbles and were asleep before midnight. Of course, just after midnight I was woken by a barrage of fireworks.

Today has been a chill day. We headed out for dim sum first thing and then this afternoon I rode, and read, and planned for the week ahead.
Nationals starts on Friday!

when I gave work my notice she told me not to bother working it out because they're spiteful enough to shoot themselves in the foot and being very suddenly unemployed feels BAD and I hate it and I feel bad

Saturday 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
No words.
Actually I have a few. 🤪
It feels like something has been unlocked and I feel so free. All these narratives I used to tell myself are gone.
I’m too slow ❌
I’m not good enough ❌
I’m too heavy ❌
I’m not the same person I used to be ❌
I’m injured and can’t recover ❌
The course is hard to run ❌
I can’t push myself ❌
I’m too sad ❌
Lockdown ruined my running ❌
Showing up is enough ❌
Instead, I’m thinking -
You are strong ✅
You can do this ✅
One step at a time ✅
Believe in yourself ✅
You can push harder ✅
I never thought I would run a PB again. I had resigned myself to the times I was getting and accepted myself, which is a huge part of the journey. Because that healing then made me realise I WAS capable of more and I could fall back in love with running - and myself. But it wasn’t going to come from a place of frustration or disdain for myself. I had a great friend run slower with me around June last year and pace me through to all these small goals I set for myself. All I wanted was sub-30 and suddenly in the last 8 or so months I have achieved more than I ever thought I could. The hunger has come back and that spark ✨ I really missed myself.

Long run and parkrun time again!
Sat 11th Feb ‘23
Tumblr media
Oh the joy of being in a position to say “only” 16k when referring to my long run! It still wasn’t easy, but I plodded on regardless, and despite the first 7k being hard, I knew I would keep going. I sort of found my grove about then, and get to parkrun a few minutes early. I was stopped for a few minutes and my old bones started to seize up! It took a few minutes to work the kinks out once we got going again. But once we did! I was well chuffed. I found the comfortably uncomfortable pace that I’ve been looking for and stuck with it. I managed my first sub 30 parkrun in absolutely YONKS! Happy happy me!

Park run was hard today. It is a trail course with a steep hill in the middle. I got second in my age group but really had to have a serious conversation with my brain from about 3km. Brain was convinced legs were tired and it was just too hard. Reassurance was given that we had this and legs were fine. When I got home Hubby was freezing bananas so he made me a smoothy for second breakfast. It was very yummy and very filling.

Training Log 14th-20th November 2022
Getting in a Long Run as part of my London Marathon training #loverunning
When planning my running schedule for this week (14th-20th November), I had hoped to take part in a CC6 (local cross-country race) at Itchen Valley Country Park. However, it was also Remembrance Day and M was asked to take part in a parade with her Beavers colony. I figured that I should be able to fit in more runs during the week, so I spent the morning with Morgelyn. Then I did huge amounts of…
