2am

today I took the train uptown, since I was wearing my adventuring boots I figured why not. There wasn't much to do at the stop I got off at, but I did sit in the stations pastry shop. It kind of felt like a video game sitting there listening to the announcements and the rumble of the train that came every 15 minutes or so. It felt really good to get out the house and do something now that the weather is getting a bit warmer I even got my nails done and am so happy with how they came out!

"You shouldn't get that!"

Pierre blinks, caught off guard by the sudden exclamation. The girl behind the counter, who's just taken his order of a flat white and a plain croissant, looks as shocked as him at the outburst.

"Excuse me?" he says as he turns around.

There's a guy standing there; he's quite a bit shorter than Pierre, with a mop of dark hair. He looks a little sheepish, like maybe he hadn't actually meant to say anything out loud.

"Sorry," he says, quickly. "It's just- you shouldn't get the croissant."

Pierre raises an eyebrow. "And why is that?"

The guy's eyes drifts towards the girl behind thr counter, shooting her an apologetic smile before he looks at Pierre again. "They are not very good. They don't even make them fresh, they buy them in frozen bulks. Not authentic at all."

Pierre huffs a laugh. "What, are you some kind of croissant expert?"

If he exaggerates his accent just a little bit when he says croissant, then- well, that's his given right as a Frenchman.

"Not expert no," the guy says, quickly. Pierre thinks he might see the faintest hint of a blush on his cheeks. "Just- enjoyer."

The corner of Pierre's mouth quirks up into an amused smile. In the back of his mind, he finds himself wondering whether he's an enjoyer of other french delicacies as well.

Behind the counter, a throat is cleared. Pierre turns to look at the girl, who looks appropriately exasperated. "So is that a yes or a no on the croissant?"

Pierre shoots the guy a quick look over his shoulder. "I think I'll listen to my new friend here," he says.

The girl nods, taps at the screen in front of her. Pierre turns again, shares a brief smile with the self-proclaimed enjoyer of croissants.

"And another coffee," he says, to the girl. "Or whatever else you want- sorry, what's your name?"

The guy looks surprised. Pierre takes one step to the side, making room next to him by the counter.

"Yuki," the guy says, as he comes to stand next to him.

Pierre reaches out his hand to shake Yuki's. "Nice to meet you Yuki, the king of Croissants," he says, and then he winks at him.
