“The ABC’s of #Robin” - ‘B’ is for “#BorntoKill”: When #BruceWayne returned to #theBatman mantle after his apparent death, he discovers how to be a father to #DamianWayne through forming a Dynamic Duo with his son, the 5th (canon) and new Boy Wonder. The early stages of this adjustment is seen in #TheNew52’s #BatmanandRobin arc ‘Born to Kill’, originally published in 2011’s #Batman and Robin (Vol 2) 1-8, written by #PeterTomasi and illustrated by #PatrickGleason and #MickGray (cover to 2012’s issue 6 presented). The new #DarkKnight and Robin go up against a new lethal foe of Gotham City named #Nobody whose mission is to rid #BatmanIncorporated. During this hunt for Nobody, Bruce is trying to calm Damian’s literal and natural killer instinct and skill; Bruce wants to do right by his son and doesn’t want to nurture the assassin taught by his mother #TaliaAlGhul. The arc illustrates not only this struggle between Bruce being a father to Damian and heroic mentor but also Damian’s temptation to kill, reinforced by Nobody who wants to bring him under his murderous wing. #tbt Green Lantern Corps and my first and last covers. I drew scripts written by Johns, Gibbons, Champagne, and Tomasi with a few ideas of my own contributed, like Guy Gardner becoming a Red Lantern, Bzzd’s origin and death and a few others I’m sure I’ve forgotten. I was the artist for 47 issues (52 counting the miniseries) with only a handful of fill-ins over those years. It was an intense schedule. Often going to the line but never shipping late over those years. I shared a studio with @thedougmahnke for much of this run. It was exciting to work alongside him and the writers creating some memorable characters Soranik Natu, Iolande, Sodam Yat etc. Towards the end of my run and throughout Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night we were drawing an ever evolving cast of thousands it seemed. Our editors were stressed I’m sure, but always had faith and our backs and gave us what we needed to get the job done and minimize fill-ins. (Always been thankful for that.) It was hard work by all, inkers colorists, letterers, so many, but for my money it was was well worth it to have this body of work on our shelves. I even got to go to the GL Premire with Doug and Geoff and see a few cameos of characters I co-created on the big screen like , Bzzd, R’amy Holl, and Isamot Kol. Amazing Spider-Man #34

The 2099 event is in full swing in Amazing Spider-Man #34. Miguel O'Hara has traveled back in time to find Peter and stop their timeline from collapsing. But he doesn't have much time to explain all that is going on. Plus, Peter is unaware that Countess Karkov and Chameleon have a plot to assassinate Doctor Doom. And thus start a war between Symkaria and Latveria. All this and the "Clairvoyant" device created by Peter's classmate Jamie must be connected somehow.

Amazing Spider-Man #34 This was a very fun and well paced issue. We have three different story lines all woven into a pretty seamless, coherent whole. My only gripe is that this event has so many issues tying into it that we're probably not going to get the full story unless we read them all. Amazing Spider-Man #35 will continue the 2099 event as well as 2099 Alpha. I'm not reading Alpha so I may miss a little bit but I'm going to continue with the main ASM series. ASM #36 will finish up the event for those looking to jump in on Amazing Spider-Man, but don't want to get in the middle of a story arc.
