the good thing about asperger's no longer being a diagnosis is that it's just called level 1 autism spectrum disorder now. i know i probably shouldn't be poking around in the mental health of strangers online, but as an autistic person myself, your struggles resonated with me. ever since i've been able to accept, understand, and begin to provide myself accommodations for my autism, my mental health has improved tremendously. autism is also co-morbid with oodles of other conditions, so it is definitely possible to have autism and other conditions that may have overlapping symptoms

It's funny, I was diagnosed, accepted it, over analyzed and rejected it, subsequently forgot about it entirely, then when the only helpful counselor I ever had brought up the idea I was like: Oh yeah! That makes sense. And went through the same process over again. I will say, having someone point out that something might be inhibiting my ability to interact with people was extremely helpful. Because I just thought I was really bad at it and processed it as a point of failure (which was intolerable). At one point she said "You don't have to do things you don't want to just because you feel like you should" and I think about that a lot. That should have been obvious but it was like she slapped me with a fish

Genderbent Headcanons!

@genderbenduniverse requested genderbent Straw Hats and beyond! So here are my imagines for each Straw Hat, plus Law and Ace for good measure.

WARNING: I made them all dress slutty because I’m a crazy person

Luffy

Femme!Luffy isn’t much different than masc Luffy, I think. Gender doesn’t seem to be a thing that Luffy relates to much. She wears her hair in a short ponytail, and dresses mostly in loose jorts and t-shirts. She thinks makeup is genuinely hilarious and doesn’t even know what most of it is (she’s been known to put mascara on her forehead). I think there’s quite a few men (and women!) along the grand line that would love to date her, but she’s completely oblivious and uninterested.

Zoro

I already kinda HC Zoro as a trans man, so genderbent Zoro would be a trans woman! I imagine she transitioned after Kuina’s death because a) she promised Kuina she would and b) she wants to prove the world’s greatest swordsman can be a girl after all. Zoro wears her hair in a short pixie cut, and wears a simple wrap over her breasts (and not much else, she still loves going topless). She’s still muscular as fuck and definitely gives off butch vibes, but she’s very much still a woman.

Sanji

Sanji (Sanju?) is the femmest femme that ever femmed. Her long blond hair is always perfectly styled, her makeup is always on point, and her nails, while short, are usually painted to match whatever she’s cooking that day. And yes. She fights in 4 inch heels. But make no mistake—even tho she’s femme, she’s gay as the day is long. She’s always flirting with girls, trying to come across as a top, but come on. It’s painfully obvious that Sanji is a bottom. As a woman, Sanji has really had to fight to secure a place in the kitchen as an expert chef, and she does NOT tolerate bullshit or sexist remarks.

Nami

He’s lithe. He’s handsome. He has the perfect mustache. He’s undeniably smooth, sexy, and clever—the classic rogue. Nami typically dresses in VERY tight pants and flowing blouses, a couple buttons undone to reveal soft chest hair beneath. Nami will do anything it takes to get some extra cash. Pocket-picking is not beneath him, but he prefers a little bit of manipulation or even snake-oil-selling. It’s easy for him to tune into others’ emotions, and that’s his strongest weapon. That and his objectively perfect body. He’s the ONLY man that Sanji’s ever had any interest in.

Usopp

I imagine Usopp has a gorgeous head of natural hair that she’s really protective over. Other than that, she’s not much of a girly girl though. She wears skirts over leggings so she can still climb high in the rigging. And she’s known for the outrageous tales she tells about her sex life (and honestly I feel like fem!Usopp does get laid a lot, so who knows if it’s actually lies…)

Chopper

I can’t imagine Chopper is much different as a girl than a boy, but she has no antlers! I could also maybe see her having a mothering instinct, especially toward other animals!

Robin

Masc!Robin has short but well maintained black hair and usually dresses in a leather jacket and tight jeans. Idk why, but I could really see masc Robin having a motorcycle (perhaps built for him by his amazing girlfriend Franky?). His quiet personality and sudden, probing questions can put some people off, but deep down he’s just a good guy who wants to study the world around him. He can often be found in his study with a pipe and a book, researching historical events for the Straw Hats and talking quietly with Chopper, who he’s basically adopted as his daughter. I could also see him being really into cowboy shit for some reason? Maybe his study is all decorated Western Style.

Franky (short for Francesca)

Franky is still a cyborg, her whole body augmented. She always wears the world’s tiniest booty shorts over her sculpted steel butt (poor Sanji, our girl is down bad for those shorts), and you should see the shit Franky’s done with her boobs. Rocket launchers, helicopter nips, emergency flotation devices—those things can do anything. She loves subverting people’s expectations of her gender—Franky’s loud, extroverted personality and obsession with hairstyling gives off the vibes of kind of a basic party girl, but she’s still the engineering genius we know and love. Her boyfriend, Robin, can’t get enough of her.

Brooke

Brooke doesn’t look much different as she’s still a skeleton, but she wears the coolest vintage dresses you’ve ever seen. This woman can SING, and often serenades the Straw Hats with original blues and ballads. Of course, she can also play pretty much any instrument you can think of, but she’s a singer first and foremost. I like to imagine that her voice is as mesmerizingly beautiful as a siren’s (even if she doesn’t have any vocal cords, yohohoho!)

Law

Think Siouxie Sioux here. Law is the ultimate gloomy big tiddy goth GF, covered in tattoos that remind her of her mother figure, Cora. She’s tall, dresses in your standard 80s/90s mall goth clothes, and is rarely seen without a cigarette. You wouldn’t guess that she’s actually a talented doctor. Her best friend, Bepo, is the most important person in her life and is one of the only people to get to see Law’s warm, happy side.

Ace

Our lovely Ace wears her mane of black hair in a messy, shoulder length bob. She rarely wears makeup, and has long since given up trying to wear a shirt (they kept burning off). Instead, she covers up with a band of fire to hide her bits and bobs. Sanji wants to kill herself over this woman. She’s a shameless flirt, and notoriously bisexual—she’s probably slept with half the Grand Line by this point. Athletic, charismatic, and a powerful fighter, it’s truly an honor to get femme!Ace’s vivre card.

ozzies long-ass TSP ramble

For context, a few days ago i was in a thinky mood when i watched this video on Valve catwalks. it mentioned death of the author, and while ive heard of it, I didnt understand what it meant until after the video explained it. So i got thinking. the following was a series of messages I sent to my friends on a discord server im in (with the exception of the last part bc i just thought of it now even tho im sick) that i compiled for yall into sections so its easier to read. these are just my thoughts and could be totally wrong, i just wanted to share aksjdh :P (plus this is my second time im posting this so there might be some inconsistencies)

like idk if this was obvious to everyone else n im just finally getting it or not, but the skip button ending being about the narrator seeing the negative reviews causing him to create the button in order to appease them, which said reviews ended up making him believe he was being preachy and obnoxious and unfunny, but as a result, he ends up believing it and trying to appease those interpretations rather than be more confident of his dialogue and what it means to him(whatever he may believe) and ending up dying at the end bc of it being a kind of literal version a death of an author of sorts

im just thinking about how timekeeper/settings person/432/whatever is really only interested in the player, but not stanley himself. and if the narrator ends up dying (or decaying at least in my interpretation) during the skip button, could the same be said about stanley as a character as well?

like we never see stanleys model as us, we dont see his feet when we look down, and the only time we see him in game is either as a hand during the bucket escape pod ending, the mariella endings, and the not stanley ending. and the last two are cutscenes. for all we know, stanley could have died at some point during the skip button after the narrator did and we would never know bc we cant see him

but since 432's desk being at the end of the epilogue which happens post skip button ending, i would have said that was the first time we ever see him interact with the game internally rather than asking for the time. but i do remember someone suggesting that the timekeeper was the one who removed the door in the skip button in order to kill the narrator off and get stanley/the player away from him in order to talk more

with that thought in mind, that would mean TK had to kill stanley and the narrator off in order to be able to lead the game, push beyond the barriers of a narrator and character and just talk to the player, one on one

it makes me wonder if what the curator said in the museum ending holds more weight

like, she talks to the player as well. both she and TK talk to the player themselves instead of stanley the character. and when she says "When every path you can walk has been created for you long in advance, death becomes meaningless, making life the same. Do you see now? Do you see that Stanley was already dead from the moment he hit start?"

stanley's function is a character in the narrators story, a literary device to propel the game forward. the narrator makes the race track, and stanley drives. without the narrator where would stanley go or do, without stanley who would move the story along?

"Can you see? Can you see how much they need one another? No, perhaps not. Sometimes these things cannot be seen."

and yet, hes dead, just like the curator said. because no matter what, he's never going to be able to truly make his own decisions. the confusion ending lays out how all the endings are scripted despite what the narrator believes and acts, its all predetermined.

and in a sense, the narrators dead too. no matter what stanley tries to do to change the story, or the narrator changes to the game in order for stanley to react to, its been planned long in advance for the eventuality. every word, every event. and with stanley's deaths, it ends up just bringing them back to the beginning again, "What exactly did the Narrator think he was going to accomplish?" if they always come back to the same preplanned paths, to the illusion of free will, it doesnt matter regardless. death doesnt become a statement, it becomes an inconvenience.

"But listen to me, you can still save these two. You can stop the program before they both fail. Push escape, and press quit. There's no other way to beat this game. As long as you move forward, you'll be walking someone else's path. Stop now, and it'll be your only true choice."

The only way to save both Stanley and The Narrator is by not letting the story play out to begin with. To beat the game, which means to let the game end after you win.

and yet,

the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is neve-

In a game where there is no ending that stops the game in its entirety, where everything will keep on happening again and again and the end is never the end, the only way to beat it is to make a choice as yourself the player, not stanley the character.

because he doesnt get a choice, the narrator doesnt get a choice. they think they do, but they dont. the only way to beat the game is to not play it. (which makes sense given that there are achievements involving not playing the game in both the 2013 HD remaster and 2022 Ultra Deluxe)

both Stanley and The Narrator are two sides of the same coin that make up The Stanley Parable, and the only way to use the coin is to give it away.

maybe thats why the true ending of the game with credits and stuff like that, is the Not Stanley Ending.

You the player have successfully broken the fourth wall from the outside in, even though that ending was planned like all the others (ie, the game allowing you to disconect the phone), you break the illusion of being stanley the character, which the game ends up booting you out of stanley as it cant handle the "narrative contradiction".

maybe thats why the escape pod ending has the sign that reads "both the player and the narrator must be present in order to leave". its not stanley, its the player, us.

maybe thats why that ending is one of the most cruel. the only way to get there is to leave the narrator trapped in the boss' office. there's no way to get him to the escape pod. the end is never the end.

(this part was the new idea i just had today so this might not make sense i appologize)

going back to the beginning of this ramble about the death of the author and such. perhaps there is a way to get the narrator out.

with thoughts about interpretations and with he idea of the "death of the author", all of us have our own interpretations of the TSP characters. whether its design, or relationship wise, or characterization, or what have you. The Narrator in my head is different from you reading this, and that narrator is different from another persons perspective, and definitely our narrators are different to the one that lives in Davey Wreden's head, or Kevan Brighting, or anyone who has even heard of the stanley parable.

and that's not a bad thing! there can be many similarities to the characters that our interpretations share, some more common than others and some that make no sense at all, but for the most part we all have different interpretations of the characters.

I read a book called Book Simulator (The Reader's guide to not reading) by Chris Yee on stream once. The VOD is gone now. But I discovered the book because I heard the guy writing/the narrator of sorts for the book was written like the Stanley Parable Narrator.

It didnt help that Kevan brighting voiced over the commercial for it too askjdh

but back to the book. this will contain somewhat spoilers for it since it brings up a moment at the end of the book so feel free to stop here if you dont want to be spoiled

basically, in Book Simulator, Booksi (The book's instructional narrator on how to fake read at the start of the book) is arguing with The Narrator (no not ours, but the general narrator who speaks in the third person), however, its revealed by The Narrator that Booksi has a plan to take over the world by inhabiting more book simulators and distributing them across the world. But, the reader could kill off the booksi that they have in their hands that they are reading, to quote:

"Or was he the original Booksi? Maybe not. Maybe the original Booksi had been vanquished long ago, and the reader was now facing one of the many copies roaming the world. Both Booksi and the Narrator knew the answer to this question, but neither would reveal the truth."

Taking from Book Simulator the concept of multiple iterations of one character existing in different copies of the media they originate from, maybe in a way that's how the Narrator may die in the stanley parable, forever stuck to repeat the same endings with the illusion of free will, but he lives on somewhat for everyone that has seen or heard of him in any capacity.

this may sound a bit preachy (oh the irony) but bare with me:

The Original Narrator from The Stanley Parable is dead, dead in the sense that he and Stanley are stuck within the game, given the illusion of free choice, and unable to leave nor do anything to try and escape, is also alive in the sense that we the players perception of The Narrator lives on in our minds.

The Narrator from the game might be stuck, but the Narrator i see in my head, the one i designed and draw and think of is perfectly fine and alive as ever.

and the same goes with you and anyone else who has heard of the narrator. their interpretation is still unique and different to them even if it all comes from the same media. he may not be exactly the same as the original, but hes still there. and in a way, hes free.

Pudding is such a complex character! I love her so so much! She really means the world to me. Honestly, her whole story is completely relatable and the fact that it's basically used to parallel Sanji's doesn't help. It just makes everything hurt more. I could talk about her for hours and how misinterpreted her character is due to fandom discourse and the recent wave of "puritanism" within the internet.

I'm not gonna get too into fandom discourse because I hate it and I already have horrible experiences about it in this fandom (with Lawlu, specifically), but... I find it stupid. Her character has so many layers. She's just as complex and traumatized as Sanji. That's... That's quite the whole point? She made mistakes and has mixed feelings and different types of personalities due to her past and trauma responses. She made mistakes. Sanji made mistakes too. The only damn reason why people don't forgive her is because "she hurt our little meow meow <//3 She's so evil!!! Evil woman!!!" as if they wouldn't forgive her character right away if she were a MAN. Like. Misogyny who??

Anyway, I think it's pretty obvious people don't like Pudding because of obvious misogyny and overprotection of Sanji. Which is understandable because I'm also very intense when it comes to him, but damn... He would not like it if he knew y'all hate her for her mistakes.

Also, people only talk about her to say "she's a great character but her age gap with Sanj-" why does it always have to be about Sanji? Let the girl be her own character. Have you hear of the Bechdel test? No? Perhaps you could try it? Her character is obviously created for Sanji, but she's so much more! Let her escape!!! From the hands of patriarchy and men!! That being said, the whole discourse about their age gap is... Just... So fucking stupid.

Don't go cancelling me right away. I'm just saying that when it comes to stuff like age Oda doesn't seem to be very... Consistent? He's made mistakes before. And the Charlottes are a very huge family. I'm sure not even Oda knows the order of these children, lmfao. I think he would only say shit like "Katakuri is one of the oldest and Pudding is one of the youngest idk. Just made her one of the youngest to match Sanji's backstory of being one of the youngest". Does that even matter tho? They understand each other on the same level after all in the end. Tbh I couldn't tell about the age difference. I thought they were the same age ngl. Only found out bc I saw the discourse going on and my first reaction was "This is fucking dumb". Tbh their relationship is one of the healthiest I've ever seen for Sanji. We see him being himself for once without being extremely creepy. The whole arc about him losing himself is about a girl loving him for who he truly is. And the whole arc about a girl being judged for being different is about a boy loving her for who she truly is. It's so beautiful!!!

Anyway. Not the point. The thing is that people hate Pudding for... Absolutely nothing? Not knowing how to read complex characters? I still don't get it. Perhaps it's just that my mommy issues are too harsh and I can see through her but damn.

Uhh let's start with Kalim tho before I get rambly.

Honestly for how entwined Kalim is with Jamil, I don't really think about him that much. Like I definitely don't feel like I have a firm grip of Kalim's character below the surface. He is a total sweetheart, though, despite his cluelessness, and being one of the faves of one of my friends definitely always earns extra points.

A precious boy, basically, who I feel like yes is in a very complex entanglement with Jamil, but does not deserve too much blame for the situation being what it is.

Now, for Jamil. Unsurprisingly he got a few more matches on the bingo sheet.

I wish I could circle that beast unleashed for an actual (almost) bingo but idk, sure you could make an argument for it for book 4 and stuff but it just doesn't seem like the right vibe (or perhaps I just don't know what vibe that square is going for to begin with).

Partial circle on the headcanon square because yes I think about him a lot but I don't feel like I go for headcanons that much? Like it's more about canon things, extrapolating from there, or just "wouldn't it be neat" kinda stuff, if that makes sense.

(Or maybe I just think my opinions are so obvious I don't even recognize the headcanony nature of them, y'all can be the judge of that).

I feel like there are folks in the fandom who do have some curious opinions about him but I've done a pretty good job of surrounding myself with like-minded folks so I'm good.

My canon denial mostly goes for the tragedy of it all, like yes Jamil's situation sucks but how about I just focus on happier things instead (yeah good luck to me with that).

Partial silly for the good old passion for dancing overtaking him and stuff like that. And when he's just ribbing his schoolmates. Because then there's also those parts of him that are anything but.

I don't think anyone would disagree that he's a bastard. I mean, book 4, masquerade, we know how much (that is, little) he cares by default.

Kiss and bite are mayhaps kinda related and do not even begin to cover the range of desirable actions but I'm just gonna leave that at that.

Also like sure red and black are also the dorm's colors, not just Jamil's, but come on, those are definitely my colors, too.

Tho I do tend to prefer silver over gold, but anyway.

And as much as I have my problems with snakes, the way the hood suggests a snake and all the other little details are just so cool.

And don't even get me started on his hair and the hoodie under the school uniform and all those little things he does with his looks to push the envelope (oop is this actually a headcanon?) and to have a more personalized look while staying within what's required/expected of him.

1- Amaji has an interesting definition of playing it safe, because AfO killed his brother's lover Second (and possibly his next and last lover Third idk but either way 100% murdered lover rate) but when she manages to catch First alone to explain it, he agrees- it'd be political, but it would hopefully offer protection to Ozoko and freedom to First, as long as he spent some time both in the city and back with his brother.

2- AfO protests, naturally, even citing that he should be married before his little brother, but First points out he had centuries to do that before he was even born and didn't, so he lost his chance.(Shame about Sorahiko, I suppose) Knowing his brother will try to kill Amaji anyway, he also tells him that they plan to magically seal their lives together- if Amaji dies, so does he, and vice versa. The catch here tho, is to do this, they'd need someone somehow related to both of them by blood. (This is related to the spell and method in krakenverse canon that keeps AfO from even lifting a hand to his relatives, but less powerful) As they do not share any relatives, Amaji and First would need to make one... Fortunately for Amaji (on a time crunch because AfO would kill her long before nine months were up) and First (gay), witchcraft exists!

3- which, I guess, makes their marriage technically also a shotgun wedding? Ok sure why not. AfO grits his teeth and says they must really love each other to do that, but he can't not attend the wedding, and when he sees the little tiny Tamaki he decides he really needs to find a way to brainwash Amaji so he can have his brother back... And his little nephew, who's adorable (his hair is lighter here, closer to Nejire's shade) and a potential heir to the throne of Ozoko. Which means he has to play nice, to ensure they are within his home and not the city as much as possible

4- he also just... Acts like Tamaki is named after him. He tries to get his pods to treat him special so he prefers it to the city aquatics, but Tamaki is as shy about the obvious and forced coddling as he is getting sideways looks, so he hates both and he especially hates how his uncle keeps forgetting his name, even if he's the only one who is honest about considering Tamaki weak and ill suited for the city. Instead of drawing this towards the Kraken like AfO hopes, it draws him further into his own room in Ozoko, reluctant to ever leave and worrying First, who can't imagine trapping yourself with so much potential freedom right there.

5- AfO, frustrated that what he considers "playing nice" isn't working, wonders if getting married himself would solve the problem, get First to visit more, perhaps a child would draw Tamaki out. He thinks about suitable options, but there's not really anyone. Inko was pretty, but she got married to someone on land, poor tastes just like her mother. The rest of the pod isn't really attractive either, and if he picks one of his more violent and loyal followers, his brother will never want to visit.

As he muses on the issue, Amaji and First lead their son up to the surface to meet Queen Inko and her boys, slightly desperate to get the kid some positive socialization since neither the Kraken's territory nor the city seem viable options.

It’s 2 am and I’m on a tangent so please please bear with me.

I’ve noticed something about the color choices in young royals, specifically regarding simons clothing and I need to put it somewhere.

As we know he has worn many colors and they have all looked amazing

However I find 2 incredibly intriguing color choices from a literary standpoint. ( I had a middle school teacher who would relentlessly give us symbolism lectures, so me and my friends fell down a rabbit hole of color symbolism badda bing badda boom, anyways ) the colors I’m intrigued with are purple and yellow, pls keep reading 😭😭

1. Purple

Someone on TikTok brought it to my attention that Omar Rudberg ( simon ), who obviously wears a lot of purple on the show, but also makes it a point to wear it to almost every if not all young royals events. This is intriguing to me because ur was not an accident/ coincidence, and only the director and/ or costume director can change my mind. Purple throughout history has been a “royal color” as early adaptations were rare due to it being rarely found in nature blah blah. If this isn’t an obvious reference to ohh idk, HIS LOVW INTREST, or perhaps and hopefully foreshadowing to his future career… idk.

Purple also symbolizes traits of creativity, royalty ( 🫨🫨🫨 ), and ambition. All of these traits are ones we have explicitly seen from Simon throughout both seasons.

Bonus: in the last scene of S2 ( spoilers ) when Sara is in the phone with the cops she is wearing purple and white. Colors that symbolize power (purple) and naïveté (white). I think both track as she has the power to ruin something beautiful, and has that power with such little understanding of the situation. Idk that’s just what I noticed tho

2. Yellow

Yellow is a color I have beef with when it comes to symbols, so ima say 2 things. 1) Yellow represents both happiness and warmth, while also being a symbol for death and warnings of danger. 2) I belive both are present in the show.

In the last episode simon wears a yellow sweatshirt, instead of purple, when confronting august. I think this may be hinting at the fact that if he goes to the cops he’s fucked, but there’s still an impending danger ahead he doesn’t know about yet. We also get hints of yellow throughout scenes such as when Wille makes the statement abt the video, when he meets with Wille in lockers after the video, when he finds the schools invoice.

The difference I notice is the yellows are different shades, the yellows I find to represent danger are darker, and the yellows shown in happy scenes seemingly not only lighter, but more fluid. The sunlight flows around Wilhelms room and covers then entirely, it just fits perfectly. However, the yellow in this scenes sticks out in the world around him. In the blue curtain, in the green jacket, it even contrasts with the gray plaid pant he wears.

I’m 1000% sure I’m overthinking it, but I need someone to at least read it, even if it’s to tell me to stfu and stop obsessing over clothing choices. Anyways gn, have a great day

okay okay okay okay okay i've been rewatching it crowd this week and rn i'm watching s2ep1 again. this must be my 20th rewatch at *least* by now, but this time i was struck by how much the conversation between moss and phillip could be seen as a metaphor for moss being gay coded (save all the other parts of the episode, of course)

moss: phillip, who are you talking to? me or Jen?

is there history between moss and phillip? do they know each other outside of their obvious connection through jen? if they do, i would not be surprised at *all* if moss was looking for an in. don't get me wrong, he doesn't pick up on social cues very well (very much due to him being likely canonically autistic), but i think he definitely knew that phillip was talking about a date.

phillip: do you like the theatre?

moss: never been

i think phillip picks up on moss' vibes here, and decides to use the theatre as a metaphor as he tries to figure out if moss is gay or cockblocking him with jen. his body language in this scene is quite important: if you watch closely you can see he angles his body more towards moss, gestures towards him and makes clear eye contact, whereas before he was angled towards jen and only kept glancing towards moss when talking. and again, moss' response suggests that he's never really been in a gay relationship, which, let's be real, isn't that much of a surprise. i've always personally thought of moss as someone who be confused as to his identity not through repression necessarily, but through sheer not knowing

moss: but I've, uh... I've always liked the idea of the theatre - the smell of the grease, the roar of the paint

moss: I've often thought if I hadn't ended up in computers, I would have gone into the theatre.

this line stumps me a little btw. maybe something about the nature of their (meaning moss and roy's) job separating them from the rest of the building and therefore the reynholm industries dating pool? or it could be him saying "yeah i could've been a little whore but i like computers so eh". if you have any thoughts please god let me know

moss: no

phillip: why not?

is it just me, but does phillip sound almost disappointed when moss says he's never been to see a play. this could easily be misconstrued as a theatre lover's pity, but i think it goes deeper than this. i feel like 'play' is being used as a metaphor to represent being with a man in the (non)biblical sense. and notice how moss takes a moment before answering, almost as if he's considering what he's going to say. if someone asks you if you've ever been to see a play, you don't take that second or two, you probably know right away. once again, phillip is talking directly to moss. when roy interrupts a few moments after this small interaction he looks up and seems almost surprised to find other people in the room, including the woman he's supposedly wooing.

moss: never had the interest

moss could definitely be asexual or demisexual. he takes a small moment again, but seems confident in his answer. i don't think he's lying to phillip to try and make himself seem aloof or holier-than-thou, but i think he's being honest with a man with whom he is experiencing a level of attraction (whether that be romantic or sexual). of course i do personally think there is a long-standing will-they-won't-they situation with moss and roy, but i do think he's being truthful. maybe he's trying to be a little bit flirty. i could see him trying to do that, trying something he's seen on tv perhaps? idk i just love him okay <<<3

I don't want to spoil but there is a news broadcast in ME2 which always gets a cackle out of me regarding Ashley.

Also in a META sense I can perhaps understand that Ash's dialogue in that sense is meant to be jealous bitchiness if you play as male Shepard because both Ashley AND Kaidan have some unattractive jealous dialogue... but it's just weird it triggers if you play as femshep as well.

But as I often say, I try my best not to think about meta things as best as I can because it breaks immersion for me. So this is the dialogue we have to deal with her saying.

At least her combo dialogue where she manages to be homophobic, racist AND slut shaming all in one sentence is probably the worst thing she says in the whole game. So there's nothing worse coming unless I've forgotten something.

I heard a friend wonder if not perhaps Ashley and Kaidan were meant to also be a sort of Paragon/Renegade split. Like, Kaidan is soooooo Paragon it's painfully obvious. Good wholesome boy, wants to do what's best, doesn't have a bad word to say about anyone.

And Ashley is Ashley.

Honestly it's a good way to think about it 🤔

Also, and this may be weird to say considering I do not like her, but Ashley DOES bring something to the game which would be a loss if her character didn't exist, if that makes sense. Having a character I dislike among the crew gives the squad as a whole variety. Especially in the first game where the Squad is VERY small. So having strong personalities is important to keep the small group interesting to engage with.

Alright, so. Some of my thoughts first regarding the Academic AU

I wrote this fic longer than intended because I was going heavy with the details and plot

Though I am wondering if this kind of smut is welcome here, because I've let a few of my friends to read it and gotten mix responses, some said it was lengthy while some said they liked it

Personally, I was trying to walk readers through the entire process, and since its the first encounter/$ex scene, I wanted to show the small details to indicate some stuff

Initially I was going to write like virgin reader for the innocent sake. but that will make my fic longer WHEEZE-

I ended up hinting the "innocent" part with the floral pattern on the brief, well I say hint but idk if that was obvious lmfao anyways-

not to say I dont like longer fics, but the longer I write, the more mistakes im gonna encounter (if you can't tell already, i struggle a lot with grammar lol)

In the end after much consideration, ive cut down heavily on the smut and condensed to what we have now and Im okay with it, tho I would like to hear your thoughts (send me anonymously if you're shy, or just comment, I dont bite I promise :D)
