The platters that transcend their periods are not really the bandwagon chasers, they set the pace. Yes, these pioneering records have their own set of weirdness, they're not that dilluted and Dare by The Human League shows that succinctly. Sure, we all talk about their biggest hits from the album, yet the disc contains many dark ditties, because they didn't escape their past as an alternative synthpop group, they merely modified that for a better acceptance in the pop context. Mind you, they didn't sell out, they cashed in to see what they could do. Of course, that is one of the reasons we still listen to Dare – this is an LP of those that were familiar with the darkness, yet they didn't let the latter intrude them from dancing. There's a funny yin and yang at play in here, I guess.

Lyrics:
You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met you
I picked you out, I shook you up
And turned you around
Turned you into someone new
Now five years later on you've got the world at your feet
Success has been so easy for you
But don't forget it's me who put you where you are now
And I can put you back down too.
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me
It's much too late to find
When you think you've changed your mind
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
That much is true
But even then I knew I'd find a much better place
Either with or without you
The five years we have had have been such good at times
I still love you
But now I think it's time I lived my life on my own
I guess it's just what I must do
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me
Don't. Don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me
It's much too late find
When you think you've changed your mind
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh!
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me? Oh

AGT Season 18: Final Thoughts
Season 18 ended up not being TOO bad...But it could have been better...
For starters, the format they started in the previous season was an interesting experiment, but it's time they retired it and went back to having three live show rounds with a few more than just two acts advancing between them...(And if they want to shake things up PROPERLY, maybe limit the votes more so that people can't just dump ten votes on each of their favorites...)
Also, maybe next year they should look for a star player again...I know it makes the results a little more predictable, but things kinda devolve into chaos without one...
Or, and hear me out...Maybe it's time they look for a comedian who could actually amass the right amount of support to win, NOT rely on handicaps, and NOT have other acts that they stand no chance against...But above all, look for someone who has qualities we haven't seen before on this show! Maybe a redneck from Texas or one of the Heartland states to sucker in extra votes, as long as he/she is legitimately funny!
And some people online have raised a good point (and I think Howie even jokingly acknowledged that point when he hit Heidi's buzzer at Trailer Flowers); They don't need those red buzzers in the live shows anymore! They make sense in the auditions, because there are a lot of ridiculous and pointless acts there, but in the live shows, it's acts they already said yes to and have overall liked thus far! They're used, like, once or twice a live episode, and the judges practically NEVER all hit theirs to stop an act...The only point of it now is for Simon to give a sudden 180 on the sillier or less marketable acts that he liked in the auditions, or for Howie to double down on what he already said before and get booed for it! (Oh yeah, and for Simon to buzz Howie whenever he has an unpopular opinion...) It's just disrespectful to all the acts that made it that far (even the joke acts)!
Just a few ideas for next year...And that's honestly all I have regarding the overall season THIS year...
But I'll go ahead and rank the Top 55 of this season anyway...
55: Phil Wright & Parent Jam
54: Lambros Garcia
53: Erica Coffelt
52: Barry Brewer Jr.
51: Maureen Langan
50: Trailer Flowers

25: Orlando Leyba
24: Andrew Stanton
23: Shadow Ace
22: Philip Bowen
21: Steel Panther
20: Three G
19: Herwan Legaillard

7: Chibi Unity
6: Ahren Belisle
5: Putri Ariani
4: Adrian Stoica and Hurricane
3: Ramadhani Brothers
2: Avantgardey
1: Murmuration
I'm also gonna start ranking all of the (main season) winners to date at the end of each season...
18: Kevin Skinner
17: Dustin Tavella
16: Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
15: Brandon Leake
14: Neal E. Boyd
13: Bianca Ryan
12: Olate Dogs

8: Mat Franco
7: Grace VanderWaal
6: Darci Lynne
5: Paul Zerdin
4: Kenichi Ebina
3: Shin Lim
2: Terry Fator
1: Mayyas
...And this list is always subject to be rearranged, but based on my memories of each of these acts, this sounds about right...
So I guess it's time to move on to the upcoming "Fantasy League" season...As mentioned before, Mel B. will be returning as a judge...(Yay...More obnoxious bickering with the other judges...) Thankfully, Sophia will be back for the next PROPER season...Otherwise, it's the same line-up we've been seeing for a while...
As for the acts being brought back, about half of them have already done previous spinoff seasons...But I guess it is mostly old favorites that deserve to be back anyway...I can also see that they brought back all of the finalists from THIS season, along with a few others that DIDN'T make it that far...
(Correction: They were only nominated. Only three finalists from this season ended up in “Fantasy League”.)
I don't exactly know the rules of this season and how it's different from Champions/All-Stars...But I guess I'll figure it out when we GET to the season...
As for me...Well, I'll admit, writing up all of these blogs is starting to get monotonous...Not that I want to stop it JUST yet...But as soon as I get the chance to upgrade to VIDEO blogs, I think I'll take it...It's just feeling a little less exciting these days to write these things...
But I'll figure things out in time...Until then, I'll see you all in...January?
Anyway, take care!

Genesis' commercial rebrand LP contains a name we met before. He should've been understood as one of the most successful producers of the 80's. He is Hugh Padgham, who became noticeable for his work with Genesis and Phil Collins. I assume these collaborations might be the reasons many called him during the 80's, including The Human League. The latter struggled to follow up their Dare, since they only came up with Hysteria. However, the disc does contain the glimpses of their most interesting selves as we can hear on the tune on the link. I consider the piece to be one of the better 80's let's-make-a-political-statement songs. While the composition does feel a bit naff lyrically, the musical accompaniment projects an incredible sense of urgency. Sadly, few saw that like this.
