Prototype for our “””simulator””” horse controller for PC. Currently playable with pixel studio engine games. Next prototype will use Pi Pico MCU, two feet pedals and two joystick modules. Controller will use USB HID so no drivers needed and there will be a table mount for the controller. Also, string will be replaced with actual reins(or similar feeling strap). We have been toying with a idea of adding stirrups and saddle but those would be maybe possible in somewhere later versions. (Big maybe). Current setup is suboptimal, we’re using “submarine” controller and DDR dance mat. Time to do some CAD modelling.

A Color LCD (part 1)
Many years ago, I pulled an LCD out of a GPS unit from the days before cars and smartphones having navigation features. This LCD is a color LCD with a backlight. It’s a very different technology, and much more challenging to interface to. I can’t even find a proper datasheet for the module.

There are datasheets available for modules with similar part numbers. Based on the circuitry in the above picture, this looks like the closest pinout:
B&W LCD modules usually have a built-in charge pump to generate their needed voltages. Unfortunately, the datasheet also says this module needs those voltages supplied externally, and they’re a bit weird.
VDH: +8.3–+8.7 V @ 3.3 mA
VGH: +16.2–+17.0 V @ 0.23 mA
VGL: −8.35–−8.0 V @ 0.17 mA
VCC: +2.5–+3.3 V @ 0.22 mA (this is actually a normal voltage)
Fortunately, I don’t have to design and build a boost circuit myself; you can Just Buy voltage boost modules easily from many places. Getting a module to generate that negative voltage, however, is a lot harder. But it turns out that charge pump chips are A Thing you can Just Buy on Digikey. Sadly, charge pump chips tend to have fairly low output current capability, so while charge pumps could produce the high voltage for the backlight, it would require several and be kind of awkward.
So last week and this week, I finally sat down and learned enough about PIO on the Pi Pico to produce suitable timing signals for the module.
Great! I have a power circuit, I have logic signals, I have a suitable connector, now to see if I can display a picture. Well, one problem: I haven’t built something to hold the LCD. I don’t have a 3D printer, nor any CAD skills, so tonight’s project is to design in Adobe Illustrator a case for the module made of cardstock.

6, 7, 8, for the star wars asks?
Heya 3-pico, thanks a lot for the ask!!! I had fun with it <3
6. What is your favorite Star Wars meme?
That is SO hard to choose. I have an enormous meme folder for Star Wars… So since this is your ask to ME and I do whatever I want on MY blog, get one of each :
Fav Rogue One meme :
Fav prequels:

Fav Thrawn :

Fav Cad Bane :

Fav Anakin :

Fav Vader :

Fav Shiv :

Fav Luke & Obi :

Fav Cody :

Fav Obi-Wan and Anakin (very hard pick, there are many) :

Fav Sequels :

Fav Grogu :

7. Dumbest Star Wars moment?
Oh no, there are so many… Literally so much stuff is dumb in SW… I'm watching Rebels with a friend because if I couldn't vent live about the dumb shit I'd never manage. A lot of early TCW was like that too, and though I think it's pretty innofensive, some of the recent live action dumbassery is a lot more grating. I couldn't pick a top moment. I do remember doing a prequels watch party with friends, and the factory assembly scene was like sandpapering my brain it went beyond the realm of funny.
... Who am I joking. It's "Somehow Palpatine has returned" like of course it is.
8. If you could ask George Lucas one question, what would it be?
Nothing. I'm boring as hell, sorry U_U He's done his piece, he's done interviews, he's not in control much of recent projects, I got nothing to ask to the man. I'm not particularly curious. I'd probably voice that I'm a fan, tell him how I was abusing my french VHS tapes watching the trilogy back to back all alone in my grandparents' holiday house attic during the summers. I'd tell him I had an articulated Jabba the Hutt toy and fancied myself a bounty hunter. How meaningful that series was and how grateful I still am as an adult. But I think he's been asked a million questions already and I wouldn't want to pester him.
Thanks again! Feel free to ask, from those!

People on tumblr!
I want to announce that I am taking requests from now on! Why? Because I feel like it! 😅 I just want to gather some ideas and maybe you can help me practice writing!
This isn't only for writing, you may also request digital edits!
Here are some rules/things you need to know!
You have to be 18+ to request because I tend to put adult content in my writing!
I will write only for Star Wars Stuff
The Characters I will write for are: Darth Maul, Savage Opress, Cad Bane and Thrawn.(You can ask for others though!)
You can request stuff for or with my OC's (here is a link of them)
I will NOT write anything I am feeling uncomfortable with! (And I decide that for myself but I'll let you know!)
You can request 18+ but the uncomfortable theme goes here as well
Please! Be nice. Don't request any hateful stuff or something I don't want to think of!
And always beware! English is NOT my native language! I will write everything in my language, translate it and may post it without a beta reader. So it CAN and WILL be that there are mistakes!
I have a private life. So it can take a while for me to answer your request! So please give me time!
That's all! Happy requesting! ❤

website update log #7 (April 14th, 2023)
Note: all changes in the site are documented in github now :D
the only reason i havent actually worked on /index is because i cant think of any ideas of what it should actually look like..
my creative juices arent spewing out of my brain and into the site, so i gotta look for inspiration.
and what better site to look for inspiration than... neocities!
i know that i wont be using this site anymore for site hosting, but i realized that there are so much creative websites in neocities that are just out in the wild so i decided, why not use those sites for my struggling brain to figure out what my website index is supposed to look like
when i was browsing the site for a bit, i came across this site called NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION by sugarforbrains...
besides the colorful artstyle that i love so much, it made me contemplate some things about this site and mine.
well first, ive seen that same chatbox (the box on the right with the text “WEB SITE DO NOT EAT”) a couple of times now, and im thinking if i should add one as well, but like, there wont be activity for a while since only like 3 people know about this blog and website aghaha
second, im seriously thinking if i should replace the top navbar with a sidebar, as it appears here, since there has been a problem i havent been documenting as much...
...and it was centering the damn top navbar.
ok now that im actually looking at this it doesnt really look like its a problem since no one is going to use the site at 6400x3200 but it still makes me angry.
but even if i wanted to change the top navbar, thats not what im in neocities in the first place.
i wanted to find inspiration for replacing the “hello” textbox youre seeing now, but now im just getting pissed at something i already finished creating, which was the top navbar!!!
now, back to finding inspiration.
im not a fan of the grid lookin look, because of how inconsistent it looks, but ill think about it!!
oh btw if you have time, please visit the site!! it looks so visually stimulating its great!!! here
now, onto more exploration!
i found some sites by neoratz and keyzklubhouse (neo's HEAVENWURLD ଘ(ˊ_ˋ) and Key's Klubhouse) that piqued my interest ‘cause of one thing.. can you guess what it is?
if it wasnt obvious enough, its the characters on the side of the boxes!!! I wanted this thing to be the first thing you see when you enter the site! it felt good that i was actually making progress on this for once, but then i realized that...
i already did this already!!!
on my old site!!!
its the old me on the old site, on the side of the menu screen! what im planning to do here is that instead of giving one half of the home screen to the image and another half for the text box (which is shown here) im going to make it so that the box is going to be centered, and the character is going to be layered in a way where its still beside the textbox, but its layered!!
this is a visual representation of what i am talking about:
actually, ill throw another character while im at it:
probably add one more here just to fill some space:
ok this should be enough characters:
now that the overall concept of the first thing you see when you enter the site is finished, i was going to figure out what i wanted to show when yall scroll on the site, but then something just hit me.
i need a way to show the characters. how do i do that.
im actually planning to show one of my characters, slooshi (the icon of the website and my internet persona in general) but how do i present it to you??
this can go two ways. i can either 3d model the character, or draw it. the catch is that they both have to be pixel art as to match the theme of my site...
i could totally go for 3d modelling, with a more low poly 3d look, kinda like the style of pico-cad by Johan Peitz:
but i want to step outside my comfort zone, which brings me to my second choice, drawing.
its not like i forgot how to draw people, its just way harder now since i havent drawn actual people in a while. ive been focusing more on 3d modelling, game development, and school that i havent really been practicing on my drawing skills more, which sucks but its what happens...
ill think more about it, but for now i finally figured out what im going to do with the site! (atleast the first part of it...)

Prototyping plate for pico goes under-cover!
We have a popular prototyping picowbell in the adafruit shop (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5200), but while it is compact and inexpensive, it requires soldering headers to use. we wanted to make a quicky version that would be good for folks using the pre-soldered-header version of the Pico H (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5525) and Pico W H (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5544)
instead of going up high…this one goes looow, underneath the board and with dual 20-pin sockets so you can plug in the board securely while also having an extra row you can jam wire jumpers into. there's still a lil breakout area underneath, the right-angle reset button, and a Stemma QT I2C port. (https://adafruit.com/stemma)
plus, all the pins are labelled! nice font action thanks to Pinguin and Futura (https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-pinguin-for-eagle-cad/overview)
