Do you read middle grade books? I enjoy middle grade fiction and graphic novels. They always have such good themes and have the best humor. ⠀ .⠀ 🍰 Pie in the Sky by Remy Lai is a middle grade novel with graphic novel elements. lt has a lot of illustrations interspersed throughout the book that are just so funny and heartwarming. They way the younger brother is drawn is hilarious. This book is about a young boy’s immigrant experience moving to Australia. It shines a light on how it feels to move to a whole new place where the people, language, and customs feel alien to you. ⠀ .⠀ 🍰 I’m so grateful for this book because it’s helped me understand a part of my husband’s life more clearly. He moved to the US from Korea when he was the same age as Jingwen. He’s reading it right now and he said some parts were a little tough to read because the author captured exactly what he was feeling during a similar situation. And by coincidence this book fell into our lives just as my husband became a US citizen! . 🍰 #QOTD: Where were you born or raised? AOTD: I was born in California, USA and raised here too!
