So I haven't gathered enough of my old Pikmin ideas together to make a full masterpost on 'em or anything like that, but I have noticed that a weird amount of stuff I made up five or six years ago and never shared with anyone is really similar to newer fanmade stuff and/or canon stuff from Pikmin 4

Like Olimar becoming part Pikmin (which was a thing in 1's bad ending ik but y'know what I mean), a "Mother Wraith" of sorts (though mine was called the Wraith Queen), and weirdly enough I sort of predicted Oatchi with my Bulbearmin

Hi! I'm Sniv- Also known as @yellow-pikmin-posting- And I'm part of a Pikmin tumblr roleplay group called Pikposting! We were pretty popular around the time pikmin 4 came out, but have had trouble getting back on our feet since then. I'm here looking for people to join our roleplay!

WHAT'S IT LIKE IN THERE?

The community may not be as big as it used to be, but what's left is a friendly, welcoming group- With lots of room left to snag canon characters! Pretty much every canon pikmin character (with a few exceptions) is free to claim at the moment, and OCs are always welcome. Whether that be creatures, starfolk, wraiths, leaflings, pikmin, or whatever floats your fancy, there's lots of room for creative freedom.

We even have a community character that anyone can join- @choruswraith-posting !

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Before the roleplay grew stagnant, we had just started an arc where the S.S. Shephard attempted to leave PNF-404, but ended up crashing back down before it could breach the atmosphere. All things considered, this is... Pretty much the best time to pick up a character! Everyone's scattered, things need repairing, and people are going to need help.

LUCKILY FOR YOU, if you claim a canon character, you don't really have to be consistent with the last person's version of them. We're very good at retconning around whatever the new one's lore is, and it's been long enough that I'd be surprised if anyone really REMEMBERED all the details of our last crew.

That is to say, it's fairly simple. All you gotta keep in mind is that if your character is a canon rescue corps member, they PROOOBABLY didnt JUST get here, but otherwise, you can make things up as you go.

Just dm @thesnivy123 asking to join in! I'm always online, it won't take long for me to get to you. We have a discord server for ease of communication, and once you're in, it'll be easy peasy to get all the information you need.

little bit more about my wraith oc (because people in the tags seemed to like it & that made me very happys)

i've been calling it the bubble wraith! it acts very curious and childlike, and doesn't seem to have the means or desire to attack pikmin directly, but it can steal pikmin from your group by ensnaring their leaves in some of the frothy pink bubbles that make up its body, putting the pikmin under its control

it can take the vague shape of most creatures, but it loves to mimic the captains. its even picked up a little bit of language (though stilted and in a garbly, alien voice) but all it talks about is wanting to "play" <:]

Also I want to share some more lore this site brings up. Because it also gives us some juicy Wraith Lore(tm) and some possible explanations for why some ships crash and others don't.

ALSO ALSO: This is all machine translated. If anyone has a human translated version, or is interested in making one, PLEASE let me know so I can reference it instead!

Based on me looking the word up on Jisho, an English-Japanese dictionary, this appears to be correct. However, as I don't know Japanese yet, I'll also clarify that "people" might also be a valid translation.

Anyways. Humans once lived with these weird creatures, wraiths and pikmin included. The wraiths missed us. Please ignore how they're also homicidal towards the starfolk.

SPEAKING OF MONSTERS

Thinking about the fun sound effects the monsters have in Wind Waker awakens an old rant in me.

I love the Pikmin series, I think my name shows that. As a kid I was never really good at 1, but I would play Pikmin 2 so much. Honestly Pikmin 2 specifically is still one of my favorite games of all time. Naturally the creatures, music, and sound effects are all very nostalgic to me.

So when Pikmin 4 came out and we had a lot of returning creatures, of course I was excited. 3 had left out a lot, but it introduced new ones, so no big deal. But something is missing from so many creatures from both 3 and 4.

The sounds!

The creatures themselves are the best they’ve ever looked (though I could rant about a few changes, another day). Yet hardly any of them retain the very unique and iconic sounds they had in 2.

Remember how in 1&2 if you happened to squish a dwarf bulborb with a Pikmin it would scream? Bulborbs would bark, growl, snore. They had different sounds for different things that were all very different from one another. Then comes along 3&4 and they all just sound muted. They only have quiet cutesy growls. They lost their bark.

Another example is the emperor and empress bulblax. When the emperor was charging a lick attack, you got to hear a loud, deep growl. The lick itself even had a handful of guttural sounds to it. In 4, it’s all just quiet smacking. As for the empress, she also lost her bark. But remember in 2, the fight where she would birth a bunch of larva? You could hear that happening across the map, letting you know something is coming. In 4, they took that away.

I don’t have the means to compare clips or audio files, but compare the Man-at-Legs fights in 2 and 4. The MaL had loud metallic footsteps. It growled. It’s gunfire was loud! In 4 it also lost its voice. It’s mechanical sounds are also more muted. When I fought it for the first time in 4 that’s when all this really started to get to me. I had freshly played 1-3 before starting 4, so the differences were extremely noticeable to me. The boss didn’t have the same punch it did before, and I think it really took away from my overall experience.

But the worst contender is the Water Wraith. Easily one of the most iconic bosses of 2 for very good reason. You hear the whistling of its rollers falling and then it’s roar, you know you’re in trouble and you gotta wrap up what you’re doing! I was thrilled when I saw 4s own version of the submerged castle. I saw those rollers and I lost my mind. The man was back!

And then it fell. I think you know what I’m going to say. The icon whistle: hushed. The iconic roar: drowned and garbled.

All intimidation had been stripped away. You couldn’t hear it growling from across the map anymore. The drop was so quiet. You couldn’t feel it’s presence like you could in 2. It’s all just so quiet!!

I could go in this loop for everything, but I just don’t get why so many iconic sounds where removed or just lessened. 4 in general is jusg so lacking in the sound department, and even though I found the game fun I can’t come close to calling it my favorite. It just lacks the soul I wanted to see from 2.

Anyways rant over. Maybe someday I’ll make this more coherent and come back with proper comparisons but we’ll see lol.

Taking place after the events of Pikmin 4, a group of space patrol officers are tasked with finding and arresting a gang of space pirates, easier said than done. Until they were given a lead to a strange planet...PNF-404.

As they made their way to the planet, something went horribly wrong...Not only did they crash land, but they ended up separated, with only the Captain (Edd), and the one of the two Communications Operators (Matt) able to find each other without much hassle.

But they are not alone on this planet, far from it. As they come across a species of little humanoid-plants called Pikmin. Thanks for Olimar's notes, they realize they can use these creatures unique abilities to aid them on their quest.

But soon they will discover that they're not the only ones that crash landed on the planet, as they uncover the secrets of PNF-404...

How to kill all of the Pikmin 3 Bosses with ease, aka, how to drop kick six toddlers

Yes, I'm doing one for Pikmin 3, because I also have played this game too much. SHUT, I had quite a while to play this game, and I have learned the ways to beat the shit out of the local six children of this game, aka, the bosses. (Spoilers for Pikmin 3 and it's bosses down below, btw)

FIRST OF ALL, I'm just going to say this once. Unless a boss fight demands you use Rocks, never bring them to a boss fight*, they are ASS at fighting. Bring Reds, trust me.

*There is an ONE exception, and we'll get to them

Armored Mawdad

So this boi is really easy after the first ten seconds. You basically go for the very back of his tail (The tip thing) and break that. He will shake off Pikmin and rest on a wall. Rush the creature with your Pikmin (Reds first) and watch as he gets capped at 1 HP. Then when he comes down again throw one rock at it and dead

Vehemoth Phosbat

Fun fact, you only need to build half of the bridge. No joke, choose which pile you want to bring over. You can put one Captain in the dark to lure the Phosbat over, just keep in mind that you should rush the pile as soon as it starts to try and eat the Captain (It will fail.) Once half of the bridge is built, wait for the Phosbat to try and eat the Captain in the dark again, call them over, throw 20 Yellows and the Captain over and light the room up. From there, you can just bully the Phosbat with the lights you never turned on because yes they still stun the poor bat. GG easy no re.

Sandbelching Meerslug

Easiest boss in the game, like not even by a long shot. The strategy is simple, bring 100 Reds and win. That's it. Just bring 100 (I think 60 should still work, you just got to be more careful), and when the slug does his sink hole thing, RUSH THE MOUTH. It shouldn't kill any Pikmin, and it forces the slug to come up. Bombless and way easier than before.

Scornet Maestro

First of all, why do you need help with this boss. Second, if you are having trouble, just bring another Captain and have the attacks go onto them. Just remember the attacks the Maestro does don't lock in immediately, they can still switch.

Quaggled Mireclops

Alright, you got two options. ONE: Bring 100 Wingeds, and some Spicy-Spray and auto win, or two, Use Blues and Suffer. I suggest the Winged strat, as it's easier and more funny to pull off. Just rush the guy, then rush him again. Also keep an eye on his health as half way, the tonuge attack changes.

Plasm Wraith*

*(THIS IS THE EXCEPTION TO THE ROCK RULE)

ROCKS. This is the only boss fight I'd recommend using Rock Pikmin, for the shear fact that the main attack this Wraith does WILL NOT KILL THEM. The only things that can kill them are the elemental attacks and as long as you don't suck, you should be fine. Rocks can take out Fire and Rock elemental attacks at any time, electricity you gotta be fast, and Water is a don't even try. Other fun facts with this fight, one, if the Wraith is floating, just walk away. If it has nothing to attack, it's forces to land back down, and two, if the Plasm Wraith feels as if it's surrounded, it will walk into one of the elemental attacks. Try to whistle your Pikmin back BEFORE that happens.
