#pile of shame

I've been quite sick over the last year and have only worked part-time for quite some time. But I have gotten a lot better recently and have tried working full-time shifts again and it has gone splendidly.

So to celebrate my health and my new full-time position I went out and got some things for my pile of opportunities.

Incidentally, it also coincided with me having a two-week vacation with no set plans, does anyone want to place a bet if I can finish this haul before going back to work? :D

Long time no paint huh?

Anyway, heres this finished last intercessor from the squad box I bought in 2021, the first minis I ever got

Finally, after two (?) years, they are together in colors

With this lad done, thats also the last of my first pile (10 intercessors, 3 eliminators, 1 apothecary), which kinda means I have no pile of shame?

Let me ignore the two terminator squads and one eradicator squad that I got relatively recently and still need to paint, so I can proudly say

Probably the only time I can say it

But it's not a pile of shame, it's a pile of good taste and good times to come. One day you will be read books.

Just not right now I am busy re reading the same book for the 10th time

Hobby journal : today we received some proxy we bought on etsy. They were kind and added some extra for the long delay. Also my partner surprised me and bought a bretonnian knight, a musician with a pig on his helmet ! They included two other bodies and one extra helmet. Honestly if I manage to get better with sculpting miniature I could get two extra knights ( maybe on a pegasus ?)

Also, this increases significantly my pile of shame.

Just casually at work when my partner messages me:

"There's a load of mechs here you started that you need to finish painting"

... Feeling very attacked right now...

I put together a Shame Shelf to prominently display all our unfinished minis to:

a) get them off of the dining room table

b) motivate me to get them painted

I have a huge backlog of minis. Too large. My Vow. With the exception of time/event limited minis. Minis can only be bought for a faction when all those for that faction are done. No new factions are to be started. So let it be written. So let it be done!

its been a second.

My few-hours-a-week gig at the flgs turned into a full time misadventure for the time being. Been painting still. Not as much. Also as you can see my pile has gotten bigger and my mess is just a tribute to chaos at this point in all literal and figurative senses.

The Start Collecting Slaves To Darkness box was a gift from the owner. I like how the only other gift I’ve received for anything in the pst decade was a 40k Dark Commune box. People seem to know I’m one edgy weirdo fuck.

Me: OK, I've got DOK to finish, Chaos knights (I as hold totally build a speaker base and get sonic weapons for the tyrant...), dwarf warband for warcry, technically there's unfinished Tau and Votann too, and that's just the GW stuff...

Also me: What if I kitbashed together some abhuman (catgirl) pirates using guard, GSC and Escher gang bits. 3 valkyries, 3 aquilas. Sure those are legends models but the theme calls for more air transports... it would be a really cool thematic army and...

Can I paint a Kroot whenever I want for a long time to come? yes :)

For the Greater Kroot.. I mean Good!

(No more new Kroot for me though unless they get new Hounds and Krootox)

Wildbow wrote a one-chapter short story called Pâte that might be a cool intro to the otherverse, do you want a link 2 the doc?

I haven't finished Ward yet and before I get into his other writings I'm probably gonna read Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao and then work my way through some more of the Discworld series.

But by all means send me the link and I'll try and get around to it at some point in 2023 :-)
